Finishing the veranda outside and inside. Finishing a closed veranda in the country

The vast majority of country houses and country houses are built with a mandatory veranda, whether heated or not. What a dacha without a veranda, a full-fledged living space, at the same time a place for storing all kinds of utensils. After the completion of the construction of the building, sooner or later, you will have to decide how and how to sheathe the veranda inside so that it is inexpensive and beautiful.

Living in a barn-like room is uncomfortable, and spending extra money is not handy.

Requirements for finishing material

Before looking for material and a way to sheathe the veranda inside, you need to look at the conditions of the room, and only then look for the right material inexpensively.

Let's dwell on the main ones:

  • Indoor temperature and humidity. It depends on which side of the house the veranda is located on, sunny or shady, whether it is possible to sheathe the walls inside with materials based on cellulose fibers, or whether you have to buy plastic, inexpensively and reliably;
  • The frequency of people living in the house and using the premises. For a house in which a constant temperature is not maintained, and people live with long interruptions in time, the problem of how to sheathe the walls inside turns into a question of combating water condensation;
  • The age of the veranda and the entire building. There is no point in trying to sheathe the walls inside the room until the processes of shrinkage of the foundation and the building box are over.

In the simplest case, it is possible to sheathe the walls from the inside with a cement-bonded particle board, very inexpensive, practically not afraid of dampness, does not give warping even with strong condensation. But from an aesthetic and practical point of view, most owners would like the cladding inside the veranda, first of all, to be comfortable and safe for health, and only then it was inexpensive and practical. Therefore, out of more than two dozen cladding options, we will leave only the most suitable for the listed requirements.

For your information! For a newly built veranda made of wood, it is advisable to make a temporary sheathing of tongue-and-groove planks.

How to sheathe a veranda with wall shrinkage, inexpensively and efficiently

Instead of the traditional vertical planking, the walls can be sheathed with horizontal padding on a cross batten. It will turn out to be inexpensive and practical. To prevent the finish from being ripped off the walls during shrinkage, the board is stuffed with a maximum gap at the spike-groove joint and the obligatory laying of insulation, for example, from expanded polyethylene.

After three to four years, the veranda trim can be inexpensively updated:

  • Remove the board, insulation and crate;
  • Treat wood with antiseptic impregnation, stain and varnish;
  • Lay the lathing, insulation and sheathe the walls again, but with the correct gaps in the joints between the boards.

In this way, you can inexpensively sheathe any room in a house made of wood, a sauna from a bar. For brick and block buildings with significantly less shrinkage, the veranda can be immediately sheathed according to a finishing scheme.

Popular materials for veranda cladding

The modern market offers a fairly large selection of materials for decorative wall cladding, including verandas. The most popular finishes usually include:

  • Lining, board, wooden lath;
  • MDF or fiberboard, plates and panels;
  • Plywood, OSB boards;
  • Waterproof gypsum plasterboard sheets;
  • PVC panels.

All of the above materials fit well into the interior of the walls of the room, do not swell with moisture and do not create a feeling of discomfort among the owners, therefore, in the question of how to sheathe a veranda inside an inexpensive photo, the determining factors are the price and personal preferences and desires.

To sheathe a veranda inside a building really inexpensively, you will have to do more work with your own hands, and spend the bulk of the costs on purchasing high-quality material.

However, indoor conditions are not the same in all cases. Often, before sheathe the veranda inside the photo, it makes sense to contact a specialist for advice and explanations.

Cold Veranda Material

It is quite difficult to choose how to sheathe an unheated veranda inside. There are not many finishes that can be used inside a cold, unheated room. Most often, the list is limited to plastic panels, waterproof brands of OSB boards and coniferous lining.

The main problem that owners of unheated premises have to face is condensation that regularly emerges on the surface inside the casing. Therefore, you should not try to sheathe the walls of a closed veranda with materials made of cellulose fibers, primarily fiberboard and MDF. Even when painted with enamels or varnished, they swell quickly, which leads to warpage and breakage of fasteners.

The best option is PVC panels. They do not rot, do not absorb moisture, the choice of colors is simply huge, and all this wealth will be relatively inexpensive when compared, for example, with clapboard made of oak or cedar.

If desired, the veranda from the inside can be sheathed with plastic with a pattern imitating valuable wood species, natural stone, or just a plain color scheme that matches the interior of the room.

For finishing with polyvinyl chloride, the walls of the veranda will first need to be sheathed with a supporting frame made of a galvanized profile. Metal profile strips are nailed to the walls in increments of no more than 60 cm. The easiest way is to sheathe the veranda with vertical PVC strips, in this case the profile is nailed in horizontal rows.

The walls of the veranda facing the street, before being sheathed with panels, are insulated with isolon or foil-clad polyethylene, this is inexpensive and effective. Internal warm walls can be sheathed with mineral thermal insulation with a gasket inside a layer of a vapor barrier membrane. In this case, it will be necessary to organize additional ventilation of the room, since plastic, like glass, creates an increased level of humidity from the inside.

For giving, the problem of condensation is especially relevant during the onset of cold weather. After the owners move out with the first frost, a large amount of water vapor accumulates through the walls, they must be removed by flow ventilation until the low air temperature turns into frost on the walls inside the room.

The choice of polyvinyl chloride to sheathe the inside of the veranda of the house cannot be considered particularly successful. Plastic always remains a fire hazard; at low temperatures, an accidental shock by a chair or an inadvertent impact can lead to cracking of the material.

Therefore, if it is possible to buy inexpensively lining made of oak or larch, it is better to sheathe the room inside with wood, which will last several decades.

Decorating the veranda with wood

Wood has always been considered the best material for any finishing work inside the veranda. The easiest way is to sheathe the walls inside the room with clapboard, both in an expensive version and relatively inexpensive, approximately at the level of PVC panels.

Standard lining is divided into four quality classes:

  • Extra is the most durable and beautiful material, without a single knot or disturbance in the grain pattern. Such a tree is used for expensive finishing inside the living quarters of the house;
  • The C-class is the cheapest, designed to sheathe a shed or utility room. Despite the fact that, in general, the work is inexpensive, due to the extremely low quality, it is not recommended to use verandas for interior decoration;
  • Classes A, B allow some defects in the form of knots or even cracks, but most of them are located at the end of the bar. It is with this clapboard that it is best to sheathe the veranda.

Most craftsmen do not trust the information about the class indicated by the manufacturer on the packaging, most often the material turns out to be of lower quality than stated on sale. Therefore, before sheathing the veranda inside with clapboard, do not be too lazy to open and discard some of the planks in order to avoid marriage when decorating the walls.

In addition to the class, the material may differ in the shape of the front surface. Samples of the most popular profiles are shown in the figure. If you want to create the impression of a log vault and walls, you can sheathe the walls inside the room with one of the types of boards - a block house.

The clapboard cladding technology practically does not differ from the technique used for the installation of PVC. Initially, the starting bar is laid, and then lining boards are laid on the previously filled crate. It is best to sheathe the walls of the veranda on stapling brackets, without glue and screws.

Larch is the most difficult to fit, but worth it. Even for the most comfortable veranda, it makes no sense to purchase cedar or ash if you need to sheathe the room quickly and inexpensively. The best option would be a quality spruce or pine, which can be ordered inexpensively from a private carpentry, dried, polished and waxed.

Even an open or unheated veranda can be sheathed with such cladding. A pleasant bonus will be the smell of a coniferous forest, which appears when the walls of the veranda are heated by the sun's rays.

Conclusion

The most budget-friendly version of veranda wall cladding will be made of wood-fiber panels or slabs. They are relatively inexpensive, and in terms of comfort, materials made from cellulose fibers are considered one of the best.

If the room needs to be made not only warm and comfortable, but also truly beautiful, then it is best to sheathe the walls with MDF plates. It will turn out inexpensively and beautifully, but it is worth remembering that the high decorative qualities of the slab are provided due to the glued polymer film, respectively, the vapor permeability of the material is much lower than that of fiberboard. All work will be inexpensive, but there should be no places in the veranda that fall out of the ventilation zone, otherwise the accumulating condensate will quickly destroy all the work.

Veranda decoration: choice of a combination of 9 types of materials

Living in your home provides many advantages: clean air, silence, the ability to leave the room directly to nature at any time. But all this is not given just like that, you have to organize comfort for yourself, equipping the house not only inside, but also outside. And even such a not at all global matter as decorating the veranda inside with your own hands forces you to spend a lot of money, and first study the materials that can be used for this.

In our current house, a veranda is attached to the main entrance. In the future dwelling, we want to make an exit to it from the kitchen-living room. Therefore, we are already thinking over the options for finishing and design.

Types of verandas

Unlike gazebos and terraces, the veranda has at least one common wall with the house, as it is attached to it or even built in between two or three walls and has a common wall with it.

On the one hand, this facilitates its construction, but on the other hand, it imposes restrictions on the freedom of choice of finishing materials. After all, I want the veranda finishing material not to be discordant with the main structure, so that the house and the annex to it look - if not one whole, then a beautiful ensemble.

By its design, a veranda in a private house can be open or closed.

  • The open one only has a canopy(or placed under the roof of the house) and lightweight perimeter fences... Of course, you can only feel comfortable on it in the warm season and in good weather.
    This is a great option for summer holidays, the opportunity to admire nature and breathe fresh air without barriers. At the dacha, I would agree to such a decision. Or if this veranda wasn't the only seating area.

  • Since the house is our place of permanent residence, I only need a closed veranda, that is glazed or otherwise protected from slanting rains, cold winds and snowfalls... Plus insulated, but this does not apply to finishing.
    Because you want to go out to breathe and admire the beauty at any time of the year, without experiencing discomfort. As well as to sit with friends over a glass of tea in an informal setting.

Thus, the question with the construction has been resolved for me: either closed, or, if conditions permit, both. But with materials for construction and decoration - no.

Outdoor decoration

The house will be wooden. Perhaps, with the decoration of the facades, it is not yet known what. Therefore, I am considering all possible options.

1 - Wood

An ideal material that can be combined with any other and allows you to implement a variety of designs from the Russian rustic with twisted pillars and carvings to the modern one with square bar supports.

Here are some combinations for example:

  • Wood + wood;

  • Wood, glass, forged items;

  • Wood and brick.

The only one, but weighty lack of wood - its instability to precipitation and other weather and natural phenomena, including the sun's rays and bugs that love to gnaw and live in it. Well, and the fire hazard.

The instruction prescribes that it is imperative to treat construction wood with all kinds of fire retardant and antifungal impregnations, and to cover it with paints and varnishes.

In my humble opinion, such processing deprives the tree of its main positive property - environmental friendliness. In addition, it must be repeated periodically so that the structure does not lose its attractive appearance. And this plunges me into despondency due to natural laziness and the knowledge that there is enough work in the house even without annual paintwork.

2 - Brick and stone

The foundation and supports holding the roof of the veranda attached to the house can be made of brick, stone or concrete. This design goes well with the main structure of a similar material or plastered, lined with artificial stone, basement siding.

Such an extension to a wooden building would look somewhat ridiculous and alien.

3 - Plastic

Plastic double-glazed windows, vinyl - all these and similar artificial materials perfectly tolerate any weather disasters:

  • are not afraid of moisture,
  • frost,
  • heat,
  • practically do not fade from the sun.

And if you really decide how to decorate the veranda outside, so as not to think more about maintaining it in its original form, then preference should be given to them.

  • Plastic insulating glass units themselves are both a supporting structure and a glazing. The option presented below is very convenient to use: such surfaces are easy to care for, the veranda with the windows and doors closed becomes almost airtight, and it will stand for many years.

  • But I do not like it externally, I would choose not white plastic, but wood imitation. Or a completely transparent design like this:

  • Another popular material is cellular polycarbonate. It can be both transparent and colored, which allows you to visually connect the veranda with the house into a single ensemble. In combination with a metal frame, it is used both to create a transparent or translucent canopy for an open veranda, and as the main material for closed construction.

  • Soft windows. Another type of PVC materials. They are in the form of a dense transparent film, edged around the perimeter with a strong material with mounting holes. It is mounted on a frame, mostly wooden.
    Soft windows are comfortable because they are not afraid of moisture and do not rot, they can be easily dismantled for the summer and returned to the place with the arrival of bad weather, at their own request, turning a closed veranda into an open one and vice versa.

  • Vinyl siding. In my opinion, such an exterior finish looks good - only if it is a continuation of the facades of the house. But I have a personal inexplicable bias towards this material, connected exclusively with the appearance.
    Perhaps because there was too much of it around. But with a limited budget, I admit this option.

Basement siding under a stone or brick looks much more solid, moreover, it is thicker and stronger than wall siding.

Wall and ceiling decoration

An equally important question is how to decorate the veranda inside. Especially for me, since it will be a continuation of the living room. The choice is greatly facilitated by the fact that the room will be closed and, if possible, insulated, which allows the use of materials that are not too resistant to moisture.

However, in conditions of a cold veranda, some will still have to be excluded, leaving only those that will not be capricious due to changes in temperature and humidity.

I'll start with the flooring.

4 - Tile

There are many types of floor tiles, almost any can be used on the veranda. The main thing is that the surface is not slippery.

  • Concrete slabs, including paving and paving stones, are an excellent solution for outbuildings “on the ground”, without a foundation. It is not afraid of precipitation, does not slip, especially if it is made with the addition of stone chips, and is easy to clean.

  • Ceramic tile. Before you decorate the floor with it, you need to make sure that the material is frost resistant... Disadvantages: heats up strongly in the heat and cools down in the cold.

  • Clinker tiles. It looks like a brick due to its size and rectangular shape.

  • Porcelain stoneware is a high-strength tile. To decorate the inside of the veranda, it is better to choose tiles with a rough surface rather than a polished one.

All these coatings are remarkable in their performance and aesthetic characteristics, as well as durable and maintainable - you can easily replace cracked tiles with another, if you have some stock of material.

5 - Wood and composite coatings

Plank floor is the most affordable, familiar, easy-to-install material. All this is great, but I have the same complaints about it as about load-bearing wooden structures: the need to protect wood from insects, fire, moisture, etc.

I prefer decking or decking - a composite material made from woodworking waste and polymers. Externally, the coating cannot be distinguished from natural, but it is absolutely not afraid of moisture, resistant to mechanical damage, does not change its geometric parameters when the humidity and air temperature change.

And if you really choose what you can finish the floor with on the veranda, terrace or in the gazebo, then I will give preference to decking.

To prevent the coating from slipping, its surface is often grooved, as in the previous picture. But there are also smooth models.

By the way, a note to lovers of classics: in addition to the traditional form in the form of a board, decking is also produced in the form of parquet.

6 - Synthetic coatings

These include PVC, rubber, rubber tiles. Quite durable, non-slip, with a variety of designs, easy to install.

And self-leveling polyurethane floors - a solution that forms a continuous seamless surface, consisting of a mixture of polymers with polyester and epoxy resins.

If the entrance to the veranda was only from the house, the floors inside it could be finished with a laminate or parquet board. But this is not our case, since an exit to the garden will be mandatory. And this is the dirt and moisture brought on the shoes.

It remains to consider a possible finish for walls and ceilings.

7 - And again a tree

For the third time, I will not express my claims to the lining, bolkhaus, imitation of timber and other wooden finishes. Moreover, being inside and not in direct contact with dirt and water, it is much more acceptable on the ceiling and walls than on the floor or outside.

I can only say that I like the option with a matte or glaze paint much more, since the color of natural wood, when there is so much of it, evokes associations with a bath or a sauna.

Although much depends on the profile of the wall panel and the technology of its fastening. For example, a plank of ash or larch, mounted on a frame with small gaps, looks very original.

8 - Natural and artificial stone

Interior wall cladding with tiles and artificial stone is a fairly common move in interior design. It goes well with any Mediterranean style. On the veranda, this can also be created if desired.

And natural natural stone goes well with an outdoor stove or fireplace built into one of the walls. It will also provide fire safety.

9 - Wall panels

And again we return from wooden panels to similar in appearance, but completely different in characteristics, plastic and MDF.

  • Plastic panels are the ideal material if you are thinking of how to decorate the ceiling and walls of an open veranda. He is afraid only of mechanical damage, especially during severe frosts.... All other negative natural factors are nothing to him.

  • MDF panels are afraid of moisture, as they contain wood particles in their composition, therefore, they are suitable only for cladding internal walls and the ceiling of an extension closed from precipitation. And outwardly, unlike PVC panels, they are also more like wood.

Conclusion

I don't know yet what my future veranda will look like, but some priorities regarding the choice of materials for its decoration have already emerged. Most likely, it will be solid glazing with some kind of decorative elements, because I don't want wood.

Decorating the veranda inside with plastic panels makes it too artificial, and stone is difficult and expensive.

Of course, you still need to think, watch the video in this article again after deciding on the house. But the pros and cons opposite all the options have already been marked. Share with me your thoughts on this in the comments, maybe you know something else?

A veranda is an annex, adjacent to a certain side of the main structure of the house. Usually, the veranda is used only in the warm season, since there are no heating appliances in it. The design can be different - closed and open (veranda under the roof). There are both glazed and non-glazed verandas. Finishing work directly depends on this factor.

When repairing the walls in the veranda with your own hands, keep in mind that more stringent requirements are imposed on materials for outdoor decoration. As for the exterior wall decoration, it should naturally fit into the overall exterior of the house. It is important to take into account that this room should perform not only decorative, but also practical functions. A well-lit veranda, where there is no extra furniture, but an abundance of indoor plants only contribute to a quality summer vacation.

The purpose of this room is not only decorative functions, the practical side of the matter is also present here. A well-lit room, where there is no extra furniture, but there are an abundance of indoor plants - all this best contributes to a pleasant summer vacation. That is why many are asking the question - how to decorate the veranda?

Do-it-yourself wall repair in the veranda: finishing options, photos, videos

There are a lot of options for decorating the walls of the veranda - choose the one that turns out to be the most suitable. If in the future glazing of the veranda is meant, then the option with a metal profile will seem especially good.

Tips for decorating the veranda
  • If you are planning glazing, then stained-glass windows made of aluminum, which are placed directly on the basement, are ideal for walls. The use of these elements allows you to simultaneously solve several problems - both the construction of walls and their further decoration. More precisely, finishing is not needed here - you just have to wash the glass from time to time. Only you need to think about how to decorate the profile itself and the intermediate posts. A facing brick or stone is perfect for this.
  • Glass blocks are another good option to decorate the veranda, which can be done even at the stage of wall construction. First of all, this material is good because it is constructive and decorative.
  • The modern building materials market offers an impressive assortment of a wide variety of blocks: frosted, corrugated, colored glass. There are also varieties of blocks with decorative applications - they are made in the inner cavity. Whoever saw them knows that they look really very beautiful.
  • Various options for glass blocks can be combined as you want. If you wish, create some kind of panel. It would be nice to accompany this with effective lighting. Of course, the cost of such a veranda will increase significantly compared to structures made of plywood or plastic walls, but the end result will pay off all investments.
  • In the event that the wall consists of glass blocks, you will not worry about light transmission. In such a room it will always be light, despite the presence of small windows.
Advice! Equip windows directly on the roof (something like skylights will come out). You can successfully combine both options - let one wall consist of glass blocks, and the others from stained-glass windows.

The fourth wall of the veranda is the load-bearing wall of the house. Its decor will be made when you start interior decoration of the room.

DIY wall repair in the veranda: using wood

If you have an open veranda, the concepts of exterior and interior decoration of the premises are mixed here. Usually, such structures are made of wood: this also applies to structural and decorative elements.

Features of finishing the walls of the veranda with wood:

  • Compared to other durable materials that can be used to build and decorate the walls of the veranda, wood fits perfectly, creating a favorable atmosphere for a comfortable stay. As a result, the air in the room will always be saturated with a woody aroma.
  • The elements supporting the roof can consist of rounded logs or beams with a section of 150x150 mm.
  • Many owners do not want to save on finishing the veranda, deciding to decorate this place solidly, with high quality, because there will be a place for the whole family to relax. For this situation, manufacturers offer a variety of solutions.
  • Recently, decking is often used for facing the veranda. This material is known as decking. It is customary to include garden parquet and deck boards, for the manufacture of which not wood, but composite is used. That is, in addition to wood, the composition contains polymer additives. As a result, the product improves its characteristics - they acquire high strength and are not afraid of moisture. All this is perfect for both closed and open verandas. Even an unheated structure can be clad with this material.
  • Ash or larch planken is also a high-quality, very expensive wood, with which you can easily carry out outdoor decoration. Planken is a planed facade board consisting of solid wood massifs. What is the difference between planken and ordinary planed boards? The difference lies in the shape: the plank has beveled and rounded chamfers. There are no connecting grooves that are present in the lining, due to which the installation is carried out with gaps, and not butt-to-end.
  • A veranda made of wood, first of all, is good because it is easy to attach it to different structures - brick, stone, wood. The bottom line is that the facade finish in this regard is fully consistent with the finish of the veranda. Often the wood is not just painted, but the surface is decorated with carving.
Attention! Carving the design of the veranda will be a worthy solution. A beautiful carved parapet and twisted pillars will look different here. The first element, for example, can be colored in contrast to other structures.

Arched hanging elements will also look good if they have a lace pattern. In general, there are many options, so be creative.

Interior decoration of the glazed veranda

As for the decoration of such a veranda, almost any solution can be used here. Interior decoration is approximately the same task as decorating a loggia. Usually, however, a veranda is a more spacious room that provides more design opportunities.

Let's consider in more detail:
  • veranda - summer construction. But nothing can prevent you from heating and operating the premises throughout the year, and not just in the summer. In this case, a variety of finishing materials are suitable here;
  • an excellent option for organizing the design of the veranda - the roof is made of glass, stained-glass windows are installed. Due to this, the room will be constantly flooded with the sun;
  • a worthy addition for finishing the walls of the veranda - unusual blinds or curtains of original colors;
  • in addition to wood, MDF, plastic, drywall can be used in the decoration of the veranda. A more budgetary option is staining. Many people prefer polystyrene tiles.

Watch a video on how to repair the walls in the veranda, where finishing options will be considered. This material will be useful for both novice builders and experienced decorators who want to improve the veranda.

Decorating the walls on the veranda can be done in a variety of ways, but in most cases, households prefer light colors.

Do-it-yourself wall repair on the veranda: materials, installation, photo, video

As noted above, the interior decoration of the veranda can be made from different finishing materials. The choice directly depends on the size, purpose and microclimate of the room.

If heating is provided on the veranda, then you can decorate this part of the building with drywall, and wallpaper on top. But in most cases, the owners of country houses have to choose materials that are suitable for an unheated veranda. Therefore, it is important that the material is not only attractive, but also harmoniously combined with the interior of a residential building, and also meets all the requirements. This is resistance and practicality to temperature extremes.

What materials can be used to sheathe the veranda:

  • MDF boards;
  • lining made of wood;
  • finishing PVC panels.

And below we will consider each of the materials separately, including their installation process.

  1. MDF panels.

Popular finishing materials for walls are MDF panels. The length of a wide board or one strip is from 2.5 to 3 m, the width is 15-30 cm. The hardware store offers a rich assortment of panels of various shades, you can buy finishing materials for every taste. The surface of the panels is different. She can imitate wood, stone and other materials.

The main advantages of this material:

  • a huge selection of shades and a noble appearance;
  • practicality, which is especially important for covering unheated rooms. In addition to being resistant to temperature extremes and moisture, the panels are easy to clean, do not accumulate dirt and dust. It is enough to wipe the surface with a cloth moistened with soapy water or a soft sponge;
  • ease of installation is one of the main advantages of a wall decoration material. It is enough just to make a crate from the slats, and then attach the panels;
  • reasonable price - the cost of panels is small, so everyone can afford to buy the most acceptable option.

Installation process of MDF panels

First you need to attach wooden slats to the walls (you can buy metal ones, but in this case, the sheathing will cost more). The remaining building material is suitable for the frame. Each owner will have in stock materials from which you can make a frame. But at the same time it is important to adhere to the following size: the width of the rail is 4 cm, the thickness is from 2 cm.

You can attach wooden slats to nails, thereby adjusting uneven walls. In this case, you do not have to bother with leveling the walls and buy expensive materials.

For work, you will need a plumb line or a building level so that the wall after sheathing is perfectly flat.

Each of the panels has a groove or recess. The first panel must be installed only from the corner, screwed in with screws, the next one must be placed next to the first until it stops so that it goes into the recess, and a click is heard. The process of wall decoration itself will not take much of your time, it is interesting and fast.

If you need to sheathe a door or window opening, you need to cut the panels. This can be done very easily using an electric jigsaw or a conventional saw.

The transitions on the ceiling and the field can be hidden by means of a skirting board. At the same time, it is important to correctly choose the shade of the plinth so that the whole veranda looks decent.

A rich selection of textures and shades of MDF panels allows you to embody a variety of design ideas into reality. The veranda, decorated with panels of various shades, looks original, especially if you choose materials by color. At the same time, you can zone the space: eating, resting, work corner, etc.

  1. PVC panels.

Making repairs to the walls of the veranda with your own hands, you can save money and make the cladding with plastic panels. Such a finishing material is well adapted to temperature changes and high humidity. PVC panels are a practical and inexpensive material. Their cost is small, and even a beginner can handle the installation process.

It should also be noted that it is easy to take care of the panels: just wipe the surface with a slightly damp sponge. Due to the ease of installation and low cost, PVC panels can be renewed every three to five years, thereby changing the appearance of the room. Let's say you liked panels with wood imitation - an eco-style room is quite suitable.

If you are tired of decorating the walls "under wood", change the panels to new ones that imitate metal surfaces, fabric and even natural stone. A huge selection of shades and textures, ease of installation plus low cost - these are the main advantages of this material. By the way, not only the walls themselves, but also the ceiling can be trimmed with PVC panels.

Features of installation of PVC panels

You will need a wooden lath (30x20, 30x10 mm) for the frame. If there is no tree, then you can buy a special profile designed for fixing drywall. But here it is important to choose the material taking into account the type of veranda. In the event that the walls of the veranda protrude outward, it is better to use wooden slats, since the metal acts as a "cold bridge".

The panels are attached to the frame using fastening material (nails or screws), only it is important to leave a gap between the wall and the tile, thereby allowing the board to "breathe". A gap of 2-3 cm will be sufficient.

It is worth noting some of the disadvantages of this material: the panels are fragile, which means that if you accidentally hook on the wall, for example, bringing in furniture, you can break them.

Attention! If you plan to use the veranda as a summer dining room, then so that the backs of the chairs do not deform the plastic panels, it is better to nail additional protection to the wall at the level of the back. A decorative wooden plank with a certain pattern or a board covered with fabric looks beautiful. It turns out to be unusual and beautiful, and the veranda will become a favorite place to relax.
  1. Lining.

Solid wood lining is durable and practical. The material is not afraid of changes in temperature and moisture, has excellent thermal insulation properties and is easy to clean.

This lining has a standard thickness of 22 cm. The board can be attached by yourself. You can sheathe the veranda from the inside with wooden clapboard (not only the walls, but also the ceiling).

Lining characteristics:

  • the material is resistant and durable. He is not afraid of any mechanical loads;
  • practicality - you can sheathe a room once and not return to this issue in the next 15-20 years;
  • delicate woody aroma and beautiful appearance;
  • walls finished with wooden planks are beautiful and safe for health. Wood is a natural material, but it can catch fire, even though it is impregnated with special compounds;
  • a huge selection of shades and a long service life (more than 20 years).

In hardware stores, you can choose the material for repairing the walls of the veranda to your taste and the estimated budget. Please note that the cost of a solid board will be higher compared to spliced boards. Such material does not differ in any way externally, but is only suitable for interior decoration.

That is, if your veranda does not have heating, then buy a lining, consisting of solid wood. If you ignore such recommendations and trim the walls of the veranda with cheap material, then during operation and in conditions of fluctuations in humidity / temperature, cracks may appear on the surface. Of course, the appearance of this room will not be as attractive as after the completion of the renovation. In addition, the very strength of the finishing material will suffer.

Experienced experts recommend using a solid board "A", "B" and "C" -class for interior wall decoration. This material is great for indoor wall decoration. The cost of this lining will cost less than the "extra-class" material, only small nuances are noticeable on the surface - knots and dents. Such boards are pre-impregnated with a special compound and processed with putty, so that during the repair of the walls of the veranda with your own hands, these stages can be eliminated. There is one more marking of the lining - the "extra" class. The quality of such material is at a height, as well as the cost itself.

All work on finishing the walls of the veranda can be done independently. You just need to first make the crate and attach the planks to the wall. The method of fastening may differ: on self-tapping screws (hidden), nails or using a stapler.

Upon completion of the installation, it is better to treat the walls made of wood with a liquid protected from UV rays or open them with varnish, thereby extending the life of the material.

The veranda is an external extension to the house. It can be open or closed. With the help of a veranda, the house can become more attractive and spacious. The extension can be both summer, that is, open, and winter, insulated. But you need to know how to sheathe it so that you can use it even in winter cold.

Extension rules

If the veranda was not originally planned and was completed later, you need to know the rules for its extension so that you do not get unexpected surprises in subsequent operation. The basic rule is the correct choice of building materials. It can be a metal frame. It can be sheathed with durable plywood or plastic. This appearance of the veranda does not spoil the whole picture of the house and has a completely aesthetic appearance. Also, one cannot fail to say that the veranda extension needs to be legalized. To do this, there are various design bureaus, you need to create not only a project, but also obtain a building permit. All this is done to ensure that no problems arise when selling a house.

External finishing of the veranda

If the veranda is finished inside, you can start finishing outside. The easiest way is to cover the veranda with clapboard. The lining can be wooden. But in the presence of all kinds of impregnations and antiseptics for wood and under the influence of the environment, such sheathing very quickly loses its decorative purpose. Processing will have to be carried out every year, and this is not always the case.

If, nevertheless, a wooden lining is chosen for sheathing the veranda, it should be remembered that it is fastened only with a thorn up. The fixation should take place in two rows: from the side of the tenon and from the side of the groove itself.

Finishing with lining has a number of advantages. Strength, durability, very convenient installation, good sound insulation. This is the most advantageous type of finishing. And most importantly, if several sections need to be replaced, this can be done without destroying the entire skin. And very well you can achieve an absolutely flat wall surface. It must be remembered that the lining is used for external and internal cladding. Therefore, its production is carried out in different thicknesses. For external cladding, a section of 18x105 is used. Such a clapboard can sheathe not only the veranda, but also the house itself, a bathhouse, a sauna, a gazebo. With the help of this lining, you can create an interesting surface with a relief. The lining will give the veranda a special flavor, and the smell of coniferous wood will create coziness and a pleasant atmosphere.

Siding decoration

Recently, veranda trim with siding has become very popular. Even if the house is painted, it is possible to choose the right siding color so that the veranda does not differ from the main ensemble. Vinyl siding is often used. Its price is quite reasonable, it is very easy to install. For covering the veranda, horizontal siding should be used, which has interlocking connections. It is necessary to consider in detail the technological process of installing siding.

Technology of the process of sheathing the veranda outside

External finishing work on the outside veranda cladding begins with the installation of the lathing. Here you can use an unedged board that is thirty millimeters thick. You can use a bar. A board or timber is fastened vertically along the entire surface of the wall, the distance should be forty centimeters. Additionally, it is necessary to install bars around windows and doors, as well as in the corners and along the outer and inner bottom edges of the finishing being produced.

The next step is to install the start profile. It is installed at the bottom. You need to fasten it to the crate itself with self-tapping screws. The location is strictly horizontal should be checked with a special level.

It is now possible to mount corner profiles on the outside and inside corners, and then around windows and doors. Basic warning: The bottom edge of the corner profile should be lowered five millimeters below the starting bar or board. Now you can start trimming and assembling the panels themselves.

Cutting and installing siding

Cutting vinyl siding is very easy. The tools you need for this:

  1. Scissors for metal.
  2. Hacksaw.
  3. Jigsaw.

It is very important that vinyl expands when heated, so each panel should be made five millimeters shorter than the wall. Now you need to install the siding. This must be done in stages.

  1. It is necessary to slightly bend the panel in the center and bring its edge into the groove of the corner profiles.
  2. After aligning the panel, the bottom edge needs to be brought into the starter bar.
  3. The edge is fixed with self-tapping screws through already prepared holes, but the self-tapping screw should not be pressed tightly against the crate. The hole should be oval. The distance between the crate and the screw head is one and a half millimeters.
  4. The action is repeated, the next siding lining is inserted into the profiles in the corners, snapped into the groove of the installed one and fixed like the previous one.
  5. Before installing the last plank in level, you should mount the finishing profile, for this you need to cut off the desired width of the siding strip, snap it into the plank, and the free bottom edge should simply be inserted into the finishing profile.

Exterior decoration is a modern form of design. Its advantage is that the entire finish consists of slats, which are made of different materials. They are fixed using various elements. The fastening itself takes place with the help of building material.

The exterior decoration of the veranda, like the decoration of the entire house, requires training and work experience. When installing the veranda sheathing, ventilation systems must be created. They are usually mounted under a rigid frame, which consists of a metal profile. This finish is called modular. The frame is easily and quickly assembled. When performing external finishing of the veranda with siding or clapboard, the pediment of the dacha itself must be sewn up with the same material. Then the picture will be complete.

You should talk about what materials you can still sheathe and insulate the veranda. There is a finishing material called planken or finishing quarter. It looks like a lining, but it lacks docking grooves. You need to install the plank end-to-end, but with gaps. So the facade will be well ventilated. Planken is easy to install, economical and practical. When shrinking, the veranda does not require intervention. Planken, like the finishing quarter, is designed to create a ventilated facade.

For veranda cladding, you can choose a block house, this is a type of lining. The block house is made of natural wood; it has a cylindrical shape on the front side. The ribs have spike-grooves, like an ordinary lining. A block house is made from conifers, larch. Thorough drying affects its wear resistance and durability. It is economical and practical. In order for it to not crack during installation, it must be treated with special compounds. For cladding wooden verandas, you can use an imitation of a bar. Unlike a real bar, its face is flat.

Sheathing the veranda outside is half the battle. In order to keep it comfortable in the cold season, it should be insulated before sheathing. Any insulation can be chosen, it can be polystyrene or mineral wool. But here you have to choose based on the budget. For example, foam is considered affordable, but it is not fire resistant and emits toxic gases when heated. Mineral wool is afraid of moisture, it should only be used in conjunction with a vapor barrier.

Penofol is recommended as a heater for the outer walls of the veranda. This is a modern material that consists of polyethylene foam covered with aluminum foil. It can be used as a heat reflector. Can be used alone or with other types of materials.

Now you need to figure out which side is better to do the insulation. You can insulate both outside and inside the veranda. But experts recommend doing insulation from the outside, from the inside it reduces the space.

It should also be said about such a finishing material as front brick. Sheathing the veranda with front bricks means building another veranda around the veranda. From such a finish, the veranda, although it will become more massive, will be much warmer. You should consult with specialists, whether the foundation can withstand such a load. This must be done without fail.

The veranda can be sheathed with corrugated board, pre-insulated. Decking is a durable and reliable material. Sheathing with this material has a number of advantages. The first advantage is the low weight, which makes it possible to carry out the cladding work yourself. Other advantages include: ease of installation, good thermophysical performance, strength, corrosion resistance, attractive appearance, variety of colors, and most importantly - affordable cost. Such cladding protects against environmental influences, is very easy to maintain, and perfectly provides waterproofing.

In addition, the veranda cladding is very fast and requires little physical effort during operation. The corrugated board is durable and resistant to wind gusts and is perfect for outdoor use. The cladding should be carried out according to a pre-made frame. The corrugated board should be applied to the insulated wall. It can also be attached to an existing old frame. You should start fixing the sheets from the corner, continue in one direction. Installation is carried out using special self-tapping screws, these self-tapping screws have a rubber gasket.

The heads of the fixed screws can be painted to match the profiled sheet itself. You need to screw in the screws parallel to the veranda plate. At the corners at the joints, special strips need to be strengthened, and the outer corners must be closed with special profiles, it is also possible from other materials. Sheathing the veranda from the outside with a profiled sheet does not take much time, the design itself is attractive, and the service life is increased.

Of course, the choice of material for covering the veranda outside depends on the taste of a person and his economic opportunities. The choice of materials is very diverse.

The veranda of a private house is not just an auxiliary room. It is used for family or party parties, meetings, feasts, tea parties and other events take place on it. Many homeowners make the veranda heated so that in the cold season you can also meet with friends or family at the dinner table, communicate, and celebrate various holidays. Such important functions require appropriate decoration from the room, and the veranda must be finished with high quality both outside and inside. Such a need entails some costs, time and labor costs, but the result will deliver a lot of pleasant minutes and fully compensate for all costs.

The most frequent and preferred option for performing work is self-finishing. It makes it possible to act at a convenient time for oneself, not to create inconvenience for family members and not to spend money on paying for the work of a hired team. At the same time, the owner of the house will need to possess some finishing skills, the ability to draw up an action plan, choose the appropriate design option and a way to implement the plan. All these actions require adherence to a certain sequence, order of actions. Before starting the direct work, it is necessary to draw up a project plan, which describes in detail how to decorate the veranda, what materials, decide on the design, constructive solution and other important issues.

After drawing up the project, you will need to acquire the necessary tools and materials. The result of the work depends on the quality of the tools and devices used, it will not work to do everything beautifully and firmly with an unusable tool. To a large extent, the result depends on the material used.

How to sheathe the walls of the veranda

The choice of cladding material is an important issue, on which not only the appearance of the room depends, but also the durability of the cladding, and the frequency of repair work in the future. The question of how to sheathe the veranda is one of the very first that arises from the owner of the house, who has conceived a renovation. The most common material is wood. From the outside, the walls are often sheathed with a block house.

Clapboard cladding is one of the most popular ways to decorate a veranda, although not the most practical, but traditional and preferable for most users. However, siding has recently started to dominate as a simple and aesthetically pleasing option. If the veranda is sheathed in accordance with the walls of the house, it will create an integral look, the integrity of the building, it will look solid and neat.

No less important is the issue of interior cladding. Most often, the veranda is finished with clapboard as the most affordable, widespread and warm material. In addition, most homeowners have woodworking skills, which increases the attractiveness of wood paneling.

Finishing options for the veranda

There are several finishes, the choice of which determines the design of the veranda. The most common types are:

  • Open veranda. In fact, it is rather a terrace. On an open veranda, feasts are impossible in the cold season, and in summer it is somehow uncomfortable in a heavy rain. But in good weather, on a warm summer evening, it is very pleasant to spend time on the open terrace in the company of friends and relatives.
  • Closed veranda. This option is more common, although protection is usually only from rain, snow and wind. An unheated veranda is used in almost the same way as an open one, only in the warm season. If you insulate the walls, provide heating of the room, then in winter it will be warm and cozy on the veranda. In fact, this option means expanding the living space of the house.

The finishing method depends on the type of premises. A covered terrace, heated and well maintained, should be finished in the same style as the interior of the house. For an open terrace in a private house, you will need to choose the most durable material that is easy to update, repair or replace. For such solutions, the best option is clapboard sheathing. It is easy to install, the surface tolerates temperature changes well, and has high decorative qualities. The only drawback is the flammability of the material, but this drawback is common to all wooden parts. In a sense, the disadvantage is the need for the lining to apply a protective paint and varnish layer, but this can also be considered an advantage - the material has the ability to periodically update, change color.

Veranda cladding outside

Do-it-yourself decoration of the terrace outside creates a well-groomed and stylish look of the house. It emphasizes the beauty of design solutions, makes the building assembled and elegant. For decoration, it is most preferable to use the same material that is installed on the walls of the house. You can decorate the veranda from the outside with other material, if for some reason a uniform sheathing is impossible. Then the choice is based on the strength, beauty and efficiency of the cladding. If you sheathe the veranda with siding with your own hands, you can get an aesthetic and practical coating that is durable and resistant to external influences. No less successful will be the decision to sheathe clapboard, block house or other similar material. This option is especially successful if the walls of the house are made of logs or beams, which will unite the veranda sheathing and the walls of the house into a single ensemble.

If there is an open terrace that does not have a solid fence under the railing, then a decorative grille can be installed that decorates the space from the floor to the railing. At the same time, the finishing of the pillars of the veranda can be made from the same lining or using a decorative strip of smaller width and thickness, so as not to violate the uniformity and style of the design.

Interior decoration of the veranda in a private house

Decorating the veranda inside with your own hands is made from the most convenient and attractive material for the owner of the house. There can be many options for choosing, but the most common solution is to sheathe the veranda from the inside with clapboard.

The material is easy to install, durable, has high heat-saving properties and tolerates both cold and heat well. In addition, the interior decoration of the veranda in a private house with clapboard is convenient in that the room usually has extensive glazing, which complicates the use of other types of cladding. This choice is also supported by the ability to decorate with the same material, which will unite the interior space into a single stylistic picture.

How to sheathe a veranda with clapboard

Consider how to properly sheathe the veranda with clapboard. The work is carried out in stages, moreover, all actions are almost the same for both internal and external cladding. Stages of work:

Preparation

Preparatory work consists of removing the old cladding (if any) and cleaning the surfaces from foreign objects:

  • Lanterns.
  • Brackets.
  • Drains.
  • Other attachments.

Any protruding nails or other fasteners found must be removed. Remove the platbands, remove the decorative strips.

Tools and materials

For installation you will need:

  • Hacksaw, jigsaw.
  • Ruler, tape measure, square.
  • Building level.
  • Hammer, nails.
  • Small screws, screwdriver.
  • Cord to control the position of the slats.
  • Pliers.
  • Drill with a set of drills.

Various methods can be used to install the lining, but the best option is to install it on clamps, so we will also include them in the list of required materials.

Lathing

In order to qualitatively sheathe the veranda with clapboard, an even base is required. The material is fastened in a groove and a tongue (tongue), so the requirements for a flat substrate are very high. At the same time, the design of the veranda in the country is often far from perfect, since it is most often built from improvised material, sometimes damp, which leads to bending or warping of the extension. In order to provide an even base for the lining sheet, sometimes it is necessary to mount the lathing.

The lathing (or subsystem) is a layer of planks (for lining, it is best of all - wooden), installed in such a way that they create a flat plane for mounting the cladding. The lathing for the lining can have a simpler structure than, for example, for siding. In some cases, two planks are sufficient, located perpendicular to the intended direction of the lining boards. The main condition is the presence of a plane formed by their working surfaces.

Installation of lining

The first lining board is fastened with thin nails or screws along the edges (or in countersunk holes), and the groove edge is hooked with clamps, which are fixed on the lathing. The crest of the next board is inserted into the groove of the previous one, the board is slightly nailed for a tighter connection and the free groove edge is again fixed with clamps. This operation is repeated until the entire area is completely covered.

If for some reason there are no cleats, you can use a hidden or open installation. Concealed installation is carried out using thin nails or screws, which are screwed into the grooves or sections of the ridges, subsequently hidden by the next board.

Veranda ceiling

The cladded walls are best suited to the ceiling, which is decorated in the same way. Finishing the ceiling on the veranda with the help of lining helps to create a cozy and warm atmosphere in the room, helps to retain heat, strengthens the ceiling, strengthens the roof on the veranda. In order to sheathe the ceiling on the veranda, they use the same technology as for the walls. If the ceiling is flat, you can speed up the work and do without the lathing. This option will make it possible to arrange the ceiling much faster and save some amount of material.

Decorating the veranda with your own hands allows you to reduce costs and complete the work at the most convenient time. The use of lining contributes to obtaining a high-quality sheathing sheet, since the material levels itself and only needs to ensure an even subsystem and a tight connection of the edges. Of all costs, only the costs of material and fasteners are taken into account, the amount depends on the quality of the lining and its quantity. Careful installation of the cladding will allow you to get a beautifully designed veranda, which will become a place for tea parties and festive meetings with friends and relatives.
