Useful Tips

Conventional glue gun with hot glue can be used not only for gluing various parts, but also for creating various patterns and crafts.

When working with hot glue, be careful not to pay special attention to the safety of children as the glue gun gets hot and the glue comes out very hot.

Here are some very interesting and extraordinary ideas on how else you can use a glue gun and hot glue:

Crafts from glue. We use wax crayons.

You will need:

Glue gun

Wax crayons

* It is possible that after using wax crayons, your glue gun will deteriorate, so it is advisable to use an old or inexpensive gun.

* If children are working on a project, watch closely with the hot glue gun and hot melted crayons.

1. Remove the labels (paper) from the crayons.

2. Cover the work area with an old towel.

3. Heat the glue gun.

4. Carefully insert the crayon into the glue gun and gradually push it through. The trigger of the glue gun will not be able to push through them, so you have to do it with your hands.

5. The wax will begin to melt and you can use the colored beads of wax to create bright blots.

Wax printing is another variation on how you can use wax crayons and a glue gun to create vibrant pictures.

DIY glue crafts. Decorate a vase or candlestick with hot glue.

You will need:

Inexpensive, round vase or candlestick

Heat the glue and begin to gently apply it to the vase layer by layer, so that you end up with transparent lines on the walls of the vase.

If you want to make smoother lines, ask someone to help you - have the vase twist, and you will apply the glue.

Unusual crafts. Hot glue corals.

You will need:

Thin wire

Hot glue gun

Acrylic paint

Brush

Piece of plywood

Nails and hammer.

Making red coral

1. Cut the wire into several pieces of different lengths. In this example, their length varies from 10 to 40 cm. Bend each piece in half.

2. Heat the glue and gently cover all the pieces of wire with it.

3. Select the color you want to paint the coral with, in this case red. Use acrylic paint to paint the glue on the wires.

4. When the paint is dry, you can collect all the parts into one coral. Take 2-3 pieces of wire with glue and connect them together using another thin, clean wire (not covered with glue).

Add 2 more parts to the structure and connect them again with clean wire.

To keep the coral on a level surface, all the ends of the clean wires must be twisted and bent into a stand (see image).

Making white coral

1. Cut 3 pieces of wire, each between 30 and 35 cm long, and twist the ends together.

2. Bend all the wires the way you like and place them on a flat surface to which hot glue will not stick - glass, for example.

3. Cover all wires with glue. After that, you can add additional sticks of glue to your design.

4. When you have finished making the coral the shape you want, let the glue dry and paint it with white acrylic paint.

5. To make a base for the craft, prepare a piece of plywood and attach the ends of the wires to it with nails.

6. Cover the ends with glue and paint with acrylic paint.

Unusual DIY crafts. Hot glue snowflakes.

You will need:

Hot glue gun

Nail polish or acrylic paint

Parchment paper (NOT waxed (waxed) paper)

Drawn snowflake shape (optional).

1. Print or draw a snowflake on a plain sheet of paper and place the design under the parchment paper.

2.Use a glue gun and hot glue to trace around the snowflake pattern. Wait a minute for the glue to dry.

If necessary, after the glue has dried, you can slightly trim the shape with a hair dryer.

3. Carefully remove the snowflake from the paper. The paper can be used further to create a few more snowflakes.

4. Both sides of the glue snowflake can be painted with nail polish or acrylic paint.

Original DIY crafts ... Rolling pin with a picture.

You will need:

Any rolling pin

Felt-tip pen

1. Draw any pattern on the rolling pin. It is advisable not to draw too many lines.

2. Heat the glue and start applying it along the lines drawn on the rolling pin. It is advisable to carry out the entire process on a flat surface covered with newspaper or cardboard.

3. When the glue is dry, you can use a rolling pin to pattern the clay by rolling it out.

The glue can be removed and a different pattern can be applied.

Original crafts. Candle glass holder.

You will need:

Small glass vase or glass

Hot glue gun

Aerosol or acrylic paint

Spray oil or plain vegetable oil.

It is advisable to choose a wide vase so that the heat from the candle inside it does not heat up the glue that may flow.

1. Wash and dry the vase, then wipe it with vegetable oil and a paper towel.

2. Start applying hot glue to the back of the bottom of the vase, drawing patterns with it. The main thing is that all the lines are well intertwined so that it is easier to remove the glue from the vase.

Continue glueing the patterns on the sides of the vase.

It is advisable to wear goggles to protect the eyes, as the glue will heat the glass.

3. When the glue is dry, gently begin to peel the pattern away from the vase. You may need to use a screwdriver, knife, or other tool to help you separate the pattern from the glass vase more easily.

4. Clean the vase from glue residues. Use dishwashing detergent.

5. Paint the pattern with glue. If you use spray paint, read the instructions carefully and follow them.

Now you can insert a glass or a vase into the candle holder and you will get an excellent interior decoration.

Hang objects on the wall without damaging it

First, stick a strip of electrical tape to the places you want on the wall, and then use a hot glue gun to attach any pictures, posters, or other objects that are not worth drilling into the wall. When you get bored, simply tear off a piece of duct tape from the wall. Especially true for brick walls.

Create step shoes in seconds

Make anti slip interlayer for carpets

Decorate with homemade beads

Make glue “beads” by dropping onto a non-adhesive surface like a silicone baking mat, casting surface, or parchment paper. The movements should be smooth so that the glue lies flat. When the garments are dry, separate them from the pallet and touch up the bottom with nail polish or acrylic paints.

Note: if using a silicone surface, be careful not to touch the mat with the gun - the silicone will melt.

Prevent mold in baby bath toys by covering holes with gun glue

Make the frames hang straight

Hot glue not only holds the frame in place, it also helps move it away from the wall, which also creates a smoother look.

Add texture to your crafts by painting the design with glue and then covering it with paint

Hot glue is suitable for the design of any surface - canvas, eggs, wood, bottles, vases, etc.

Hang the lights on the wall with a hot glue gun

Create mini substitutes hot glue gun - matches

Apply some glue near the burning tip of the match. If you are in a hurry and need to quickly fix something, light a match and let the fire heat the glue on the stick.

Then extinguish the flame and distribute the glue where you need it - over the buttons that have fallen off or to fix something on a hike, for example.

Apply some glue to the soles of slippery shoes

Create fancy jewelry

You can look for colored glue, or you can just wait until the usual glue dries and paint the items with a permanent marker or paint.

Make one large drop at the beginning, then drag to the desired length and make a large drop again. Then create some design and let the glue dry. Hole a large drop at the beginning and end and tie them together with a string.

Seal used coffee machine containers so they can be reused

Then they can be used as ice cream molds, decorative flowerpots, etc.

Seal letters with a hot glue gun and wax crayons

All you need are pencils, a pistol and envelopes. Remove the wrapping from the pencils and use a cheaper glue gun - once the envelopes are sealed, it will not be suitable for any other business.

Tuck in your pencil carefully and plug in the gun. You will know that your homemade "sealing wax" is ready when the pencil starts to flow from the pistol.

Note: don't forget to add something , otherwise you will stain your work surface. Point the gun at the back of the envelope and seal it. Do not touch until dry and hardened.

I think that many who work with hot melt glue still have pieces, trimmings and working off of hot melt sticks. We have to throw them away, but new rods cost money. With this non-tricky device, you can save money and use waste glue.

I saw a comment on a glue gun from USB in a contact in a group, someone asked me to figure out how to collect waste glue into rods. I decided to implement the idea)

Video recording of the step-by-step assembly and operation of the device for review.

We need:
1. Part of the parts from the soldering iron from the fixed price list for 60 rubles.
1.1. Nichrome wire
1.2. Metal part of the body in the form of a tube
1.3. Fiberglass
1.4. 3 screws
2.2 copper wiring
3. A can of soda
4. Foil of medium density (you can also bake in the oven)
5.USB cable
6. Insulating tape
7. Wooden plate (cardboard from large boxes is also possible)
8. Power supply 5V 2A

From tools:
1. Pliers
2. Scissors
3. Screwdriver

Step 1.
We disassemble the soldering iron and leave the nichrome wire (it is better to take another, this one is not of high quality), a metal tube and fiberglass.

Step 2.
We wind the fiberglass onto the tube as shown in the photo and from above we wind several turns of nichrome wire (four is quite enough) and fix it at the edges with two pieces of the same wire so that it is stretched.

Step 3.
We take a flat wooden plank (4cm x 7cm) or thick cardboard and fix a metal tube on it with three self-tapping screws, as shown in the photo.

Step 4.
We attach the USB plug to the plate with electrical tape (you can also use hot glue) and fasten the wires to the nichrome wire.

Step 5.
Initially, a metal tube with a diameter of 10mm, but we need to get 7mm rods. Cut off a plate 8cm long and 5cm wide from an aluminum can and roll it into a tube with a hot melt stick inside. At one end, we cut the tube, leaving a small tongue, for which we can pull it out if necessary. This tube is necessary to reduce the hole diameter and prevent deformation of the foil remelting mold.

Step 6.
We insert the resulting tube all the way into the previously prepared structure, as shown in the photo.

Step 7.
We take the foil 10cm long and 7cm wide and roll it into a tube with a hot melt stick inside. This will be our mold for melting the hot glue pieces. One end of the resulting tube must be well bent so that the melted glue does not stick to the board and does not spread at the bottom of the metal tube.

Step 8.
We insert the mold for remelting into the resulting structure until it stops. And you can start melting.

Cut the remaining pieces of hot melt glue to fit into the tube. We throw them inside and connect the device to power.

The process of remelting one 10cm rod lasts no more than 2-3 minutes. And the whole processing process from heating the device to cooling the mold with remelted glue takes 5-6 minutes.

In the process of remelting, it is necessary to lightly tamp the pieces of glue in the tube so that the rod turns out to be solid and with the least amount of bubbles inside.

The resulting rods are identical in diameter (7mm) to the new ones.
