Door metal frames for metal entrance doors. Metal boxes

Modern technologies make it possible to create metal entrance doors of various shapes, sizes and security characteristics. Steel is one of the most popular materials for the line of iron models. It guarantees the strength, rigidity of the structure, but requires exact correspondence between the parameters of the canvas and the frame, the frame and the doorway.

In the first case, in order to eliminate errors during installation, to avoid inconvenience in operation, manufacturers take responsibility for making the complete set. It includes:

    a box made of a closed rectangular or U-shaped corner (the threshold is ready-made or made separately), its components: crossbar, guides;

    door leaf made of steel sheets welded together;

    reinforcements - "stiffening ribs": longitudinal, transverse or V shapes (sometimes a combination of them), increasing the strength of the web and preventing deformation of its surface;

    inner lining;

    external facade decoration made of various decorative materials;

    a seal located between the canvas and the skin to increase thermal protection;

    fastening systems - hinges: open, hidden, equipped with anti-burglary systems;

    platbands;

    additional elements: locks, latches, door peephole, handles, seals.

The correct ratio of the dimensions of the box and the opening can only be guaranteed by competently carried out measurements, as well as further careful selection of the structure. Measurements can be performed both by representatives of a specialized company and by the customer himself. For this, it is necessary to study the existing standards. All linear values of the entrance doors are interconnected, determined by SNIPs and GOSTs, which are often adjusted to the dimensions of non-standard models.

What sizes are there in Russia?

The linear dimensions of the entrance block structure are influenced by the technical requirements for the operation of the premises. Therefore, street doors in a country house will always be wider than in an apartment. Openings facing staircases and vestibules should not be narrower than the width of the flight of stairs. It is convenient for moving bulky furniture, evacuation during emergencies.

The dimensions of the entrance iron blocks that meet the fire safety requirements of SNiP 210197:

  • height - not less than 1900 mm;
  • width for residential buildings - from 800 mm, for public (more than 15 people) - from 1200 mm.

The main parameters of the standard dimensions of the block of entrance metal doors are in the range (in mm):

    by the height of the box - from 2070 to 2370.

    By the width of the door or skylight for the living space:

    For single-leaf - from 800 to 1000,

    For one and a half - from 1300 to 1500,

    For bivalves - from 1910 to 1950,

  • By block thickness (door with frame):

    With a brick wall 75 mm - 108;

    With a standard wooden beam - no more than 120,

    In panel houses - 120-130.

In regulatory documents, the height of the threshold for an entrance door for a house is from 20 to 45 mm. Higher in residential buildings is not allowed: during a fire, people with disabilities will find it problematic to leave the house.

Compliance with the standards guarantees the strength, convenience, durability of metal products.

Options for ready-made door block solutions:

  1. For single-leaf (in mm) - 1980x850, 2030x860, 2050x880, 2050x960, 2070x900, 2100x950, 2100x1000. Small blocks can be used in outbuildings. The optimal combination of the size of the entrance metal doors and the frame is considered to be 2500x900.
  2. For bivalves (in mm) - 2050x1300, 2100x1400, 2100x1500, 2100x1600. With a height of 2000-2300 width standard (in mm):
  • 1200 (600 and 600);
  • 1600 (800 and 800);
  • 1800 (900 and 900).

Thickness and weight of the metal door

In Russia, the door leaf can be of two types - from welded sheets fixed to the frame, and solid, more durable.

The final thickness of the working surface of the product depends on the number of steel sheets interconnected, corresponding to:

  • for apartments - from 1.5 to 2 mm;
  • for country houses - 2-2.3 mm.

Thicker canvases are used for fireproof, bulletproof models, but they do not provide for frequent opening or closing.

Thin canvases are used if a vestibule is provided in the house.

In all other cases, the standard thickness of the entire door is:

  • for conventional models - from 60 to 80 mm;
  • for reinforced - from 80 to 100 mm.

The total value is formed due to additional structural elements:

  1. Insulation chambers. It is necessary for residential buildings, because up to 25% of the heat is lost through an ordinary door. Depending on the material used by the manufacturer and the number of its layers, the parameters of the required internal space are formed.
  2. Sealing contour. It is used for better tightness, which helps to retain heat and prevent odors from the entrance. Depending on the thickness of the iron doors, 2 or 3 contours are installed. The design with three sealing contours corresponds to a door thickness of 80 mm.

Sometimes you have to make a choice between the level of protection and the beauty of the door: any reinforcement, additional finishing entails an increase in its weight, which should not exceed 250 kg. The limiting values of the thickness of the canvas of conventional and all reinforced models already weigh over 200 kg.

To reduce the load on the box, to prevent deformation of the canvas, these models are mounted not on two, but on three or four hinges.

Non-standard doors

Non-standard doors include doors that do not match in shape, thickness, height, decorative solution (glass inserts) and the number of reinforcements with average values of the norm. The permissible parameters of such models are enshrined in separate articles of GOSTs and SNIPs.

    Blocks with side and top transoms made to order. The width of their working aisle corresponds to one or two-leaf doors, the steel reinforcement of the central structure starts 120 mm from the edge of the opening. The typical dimensions of a single-leaf arched door are 2000x800 mm.

    One and a half doors- the narrow sash closes with a latch and opens as required. With a height of 2000 or 2300 mm, the width is (in mm):

  1. 1200 (400 - fixed sash, 800 - working blade or 300 and 900);
  2. 1400 (600 and 800 or 500 and 900).

  • Atypical doors also include fireproof and armored doors:
  1. Fireproof thickness - 70 mm, armored - 100-120 mm;
  2. Dimensions (in mm) - 1200x1900, 1200X2050, 2500x2500.

Non-standard entrance openings in apartment buildings must be approved by the BTI. The decision will largely depend on the thickness of the walls of the house, on which floor the redevelopment is planned. In a private building, where we can talk about the supporting structures of a house, you will need to order a project from a specialized organization.

Independent actions without permits will lead to the seizure of real estate, an administrative fine.

Metal-plastic and aluminum doors

Today, under the general name of the iron door, several types are hidden, including multi-chamber models. These include:

  1. Reinforced plastic- has a strong protection system, light enough in weight, produced with double-glazed windows of different sizes and sizes. When reinforcing the profile, such doors are installed in "thermos houses".
  2. Aluminum- the lightest of all metal, with or without double-glazed windows. High heat protection, increased wear resistance. 7 times stronger than wood, 2 times stronger than metal-plastic products.

Complicated calculations of the box and canvas are not made, technologies allow to produce blocks of any size and immediately in a set. They differ from steel structures only in thickness - 95-120 mm. The larger the metal profile, the warmer it is. Due to the lightness of the material, no additional loops are required even at extreme values.

In cottages, the entrance blocks are equipped with a push set, a lock along the contour, which guarantees a tight fit, an aluminum threshold - 40 mm. A double-leaf joint can be used in double-leaf doors.

The selection of the frame to the opening is carried out according to the same principles as for steel entrance doors.

GOST of other countries

European models attract Russian buyers with their design and relative ease of construction. Lighter steel is used for their production. The dimensions are in accordance with the DIN normative requirements, which are guided by the architectural traditions of Europe and are based on the anthropometric data of individual regions. Based on them, people in Finland are taller than in the south of the EU, so the standard value of the entrance height for Finns will be higher than in Italy.

There are also differences in width among countries. French standard for single-leaf doors (in mm): 690, 790, 890, 990. Spanish standard (in mm): 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000.

Imported products require additional spending:

  • when reworking a block, when an imported canvas is installed in a domestic box;
  • when decreasing or increasing the entrance opening.

The warranty period for products is much higher than that of Russian ones - up to 10-20 years, but foreign manufacturers in the vast majority of cases cannot ensure the fulfillment of obligations outside the European Union.

Furniture firms operating in Russia or for a long time, at least 5 years, trading in the local market, take into account the discrepancies in standards, offering ready-made solutions to eliminate inconveniences. Some manufacturers produce batches according to Russian standards.

Chinese models in their parameters coincide with domestic GOSTs.

The supplied models have:

  • in height - 2050 mm;
  • in width, single-leaf - 860, 960 mm, one-and-a-half - 1200 mm.
  • in different batches of even one manufacturer, the size of the door frames can have a significant difference and vary from one delivery to another. Trust is aroused by joint Russian-Chinese factories, where all products are quality tested in accordance with Russian standards.

How to make the correct measurement?

Before taking measurements, it is necessary to dismantle the old doors, including the platbands. If necessary, remove the nut.

Rigid metal structures need even walls, therefore, using a level, the degree of curvature of the walls is determined. In the case of a large curvature, the entrance metal door with a frame is aligned to the standard size, taking into account the technical clearances. The same actions are performed with the nut.

After that, the length, width and depth of the opening are measured with a tape measure. The values of the width and length are taken from the base of the wall, the results obtained are compared with the reference ones. The values of the gaps are checked.

The aperture of non-standard dimensions is adjusted to the values of GOST: it is expanded with a perforator, grinder or narrowed to the specified values with high quality cement and leveled. The plane deviation should not exceed 3 mm along the entire length or width.

What else do you need to consider?

There are technical gaps between the opening, the box and the canvas. They are necessary to easily carry out the installation of the block, to ensure the free movement of the door.

When calculating the door block, this free space is not taken into account, but its presence is implied:

    The inner perimeter of the box is larger than the outer perimeter of the main door structure (excluding the overflow) due to the gaps:

    At the top - 3-5 mm;

    At the bottom - 6-8 mm;

    In width - from 3 to 6 mm to each side.

Door block height = corner or pipe width (30-35 mm) x 2 + door height + gaps.

Door block width = corner width x 2 + door width + gaps.

  • The entrance opening should be larger than the door frame on each side:

    Height - no more than 5 mm at the narrowest point of the opening,

    In width - 2 mm.

The doors can be opened both inward and outward. In the second case, it is important to provide that in the open state they do not obstruct the staircase, electrical panels, and do not block the entrance to the neighbors' apartment.

We usually focus on the canvas, its strength, finish, reliability of locking mechanisms. Meanwhile, there is an element in this system that is of no less importance - this is a box. There are several options for the execution of the frame for iron door blocks, and each of them, perhaps, will be more preferable in certain conditions. Purchase custom-made doors, then you can choose from several frame configurations, and the doors will fit perfectly into the opening. How they work and how they differ - we'll talk further.

If you have not yet decided on the choice, see our offers

The door frame is a power profiled frame on which a movable leaf is hung, and by means of which the door block is fastened in the opening. The door's resistance to burglary, its durability and insulating characteristics depend on the reliability, stable geometry of the frame. In most cases, this frame is closed, that is, at the bottom, the vertical posts are connected by a threshold, which is an integral part of the structure. It is extremely rare, only in special cases, that the boxes are made U-shaped, without thresholds. One of the vertical racks is a carrier, on it are located from two to four loops, it is also called "looped". It also has receiving holes for anti-removable pins ("anti-cuts"). The opposite post is sometimes called a lock post, it has holes for the crossbars of the locks, as well as for the locking elements of the crab mechanisms. The top bar and sill can also participate in multi-point closure. On both racks, mounting plates are pre-welded, as a rule, there are three of them on each side; in some structures, holes for the anchor are drilled in the body of the box.

A very important element of frames for steel doors must be considered the narthex. In fact, it is a shelf ("quarter"), which serves to install the seal (sometimes the seal is attached to the canvas) and to ensure the design insulation characteristics (heat, sound, smell, dust, insects ...). The porch is maintained along the entire perimeter of the "canvas / box" junction, including along the horizontal elements. Depending on how many abutment shelves are available, boxes with one, two or even three sealing contours are distinguished. In some doors (technical, temporary ...), insulation is not particularly needed - here you can use doors without recesses, that is, with a frame from the corner.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, an integral part of the door frame is a casing made in the form of a steel strip with a width of 50 mm, with or without flanging along the edge. It serves to visually overlap the mounting seams and eliminate the possibility of intruders' access to the fasteners, including preventing the crowbar from being pulled over the box racks. In boxes made of a bent profile, the casing is made up of two sheets of metal. Doors that are not installed flush with the opening, but inside it - do not have a casing. When finishing a metal door, platbands are usually sheathed with similar sheet materials, or painted.

A steel door frame is made from cold-rolled metal products with a thickness of 2-5 mm. This rolled metal, of course, is profiled - having stiffening ribs. The most widespread are boxes from a corner, a profile pipe, a channel, a bent sheet.

The box from the corner (with a shelf of 50, 63 mm) lies close to the edge of the opening and takes up very little useful space - that is, we get the widest possible free passage. For this reason, this design is indispensable for narrow openings. Crimping double boxes are also made from the corner (the corners cover both corners of the opening and are connected with stripes), which are good if the walls have a weak bearing capacity. The disadvantage of boxes from the corner can be considered the weak insulating properties of the finished door block, since the vestibule is either absent altogether, or it is alone. In residential buildings and apartments, the corner construction is used extremely rarely, but in the back rooms - on the contrary. The undoubted advantage of the corner frames will be the fact that the corner has a solid thickness (about 5 mm) of the shelves and perfectly holds the crossbars of the locking mechanisms during power burglary, it is less subject to deformation when trying to spin.

Boxes made of rectangular shaped pipes with a wall thickness of 2 mm are considered the most common. In this case, the main material is a closed profile with a section of 40X25, 40X40, 60X40 mm. Boxes are rarely made of single pipes, as a rule, a combination of pipes of different cross-sections is used, which are welded to each other at right angles throughout the entire length. Such spatial structures allow you to create several sealing contours, however, it should be noted that they somewhat conceal the width of the opening.

Roll-formed boxes show good results in sound and heat insulation. The door leaf in them can be recessed flush, and the number of vestibules can reach three. In principle, closed and open curved boxes are distinguished. The first ones are welded from two mutually complementary parts and have good rigidity. The second ones have a cross-section similar to the letter "P", the Israelis offer to fill them with concrete on their metal doors after installation, tying up the walls with reinforcement with reinforcement. Open boxes are also often reinforced with various stripes to add spatial stability to the system. Some Italian manufacturers make two-piece boxes: first, an assembly element is fixed in the opening with anchors, and then the finishing box is fixed to it (with wide correction possibilities) with hidden screws.

Curved boxes with solid counter-removal are distinguished by a special configuration. The highlight is that the hinge post has a groove approximately in the middle for the entire height of the door. In turn, there is a 10 mm thick bend on the door leaf, which in the closed position enters the frame groove. When cutting the hinges, the blade cannot be removed from the box. Such doors are made for both external and internal opening, they have 2 sealing circuits.

All parts of the boxes, regardless of the design, are painted in the same color as the ends of the doors. Sometimes a powder spraying method is used for this, if it is used for finishing the canvas. To improve the thermal insulation properties of the finished door block, the cavities of the frame are filled with mineral wool or blown out with polyurethane foam. Summing up, we note that it cannot be argued that some specific box designs are better than others. If the door assembly technology is followed, and the product is being installed according to all building rules, there will be no problems. But for this you should turn to professionals.

The frame is the backbone of any door that connects it to the doorway. Since a door leaf is installed on the frame, it must have high strength, workmanship and a long service life. Only in this case, you can be sure that the doors will fulfill their purpose and work without fail over a long period.

What is a door frame and what is it for

Both at the entrance to a house or apartment, and inside the premises, a block is installed in all doorways, the basis of which is a box. This element is a support, and the door leaf is hung on it. Not only door hinges are attached to the box, but also platbands with additional fittings.

The door frame must match the material with the door leaf

The box is made of a material that matches the door itself. It must be massive and resistant to changes in humidity and temperature. This is especially true of doors at the entrance to the house, to the bathroom and to the steam room. For a more snug fit in the frame, it is recommended to install seals.

Rubber seals in the metal door frame do not let cold and unnecessary odors into the house

The door frame is a connecting link located between the doorway and the leaf. For interior doors, it is made in the form of the letter "P".

Wooden door frame without a threshold, closed by cashing machines

For entrance doors, a frame with a threshold is used. In this case, the doorway is completely framed. Usually a metal door is placed at the entrance to the house.

The metal frame of the front door is usually not covered with platbands, therefore it is made of the same color as the door leaf

But if the front door is made of wood, then the box is also made of wood.

A door frame with a threshold closes the gap under the door and makes the door fit snugly

A plastic box is also installed with a threshold. For example, for a balcony door.

Plastic door frame with a threshold is always equipped with rubber seals

Varieties of door frames

Now in hardware stores, a wide selection of door frames is presented, which differ in material, design and complete set of parts.

Box design

There are four types of door frame design:

  • corner - it is made of timber and the casing bends around the corner outside the opening. Used when decorating entrance doors;

    Corner box bends around the corner outside the opening

  • end - mounted directly in the opening, platbands are fixed on the box. It is mainly used for interior doors;

    The end box is mounted directly in the opening

  • telescopic - a special L-shaped casing. Such a box covers the entire opening from three sides. Installed for any doors;

    Telescopic box covers the opening on both sides

  • hidden - used in offices or entertainment venues. This is a regular frame, but without platbands, extensions and a threshold. The box is painted over to match the walls, it is practically invisible.

    The hidden door frame is painted over to match the walls

Applicable material

To frame the opening, a box beam is used, which is made of different materials.

If the doors are plastic, aluminum or iron, then it is clear that a wooden box will not work, therefore it is made of the same material as the door leaf.

For wooden interior doors, the box is made of the following materials:

  • solid wood is the most expensive option, especially when using exotic wood. For the manufacture of expensive doors, oak, ash, cherry, walnut, eucalyptus, beech are taken. The budget option is pine. When creating wood products, the problem is the presence of knots and other defects in it. If you decide to make a box from an array yourself, choose only high-quality timber;

    Natural timber is the most expensive material

  • glued laminated timber - at the enterprise, the wood is dissolved into small elements, all natural defects are removed, after which the prepared parts are glued and spliced. It turns out a high-quality and durable timber;

    Glued laminated timber has high resistance to high humidity

  • MDF and HDF - fiberboards, refer to composite materials, consisting of sawdust, chips and wood flour. MDF is processed in the same way as natural wood;

    MDF timber is used to create interior door frames

  • Laminated composites - consist of two or more types of raw materials, mixed in a total mass or connected in layers. After manufacturing, such a bar is revetted with artificial veneer, imitating the appearance of natural wood. As an interlayer, MDF, plywood or inexpensive wood are placed. This material has high strength. If we talk about cost, then the eco-veneer timber costs about the same as the MDF timber, and more expensive than the unpainted pine timber. Its advantage: there is no need for finishing. Eco-veneer makes the timber outwardly beautiful and reliably protects it from mechanical damage.

    Due to the multilayer structure, laminated composites have high strength

Completion (additional elements)

There are also differences in the door frames in terms of equipment. She may be:

The boxes also differ in the presence of a seal. It is installed along the perimeter of the box, which improves the insulating characteristics of the structure. In addition, the seal has shock-absorbing properties, so the service life of such a door is increased. In expensive models, the seal is already installed in the box. In cheaper options, it is not, but you can always install the seal yourself.

The presence of a seal improves the insulating characteristics of the structure

Dimensions (edit)

Most of the doorways are standard sizes, you can purchase the appropriate frame for them. When choosing a box, it is necessary to take into account that it freely enter the opening, that is, it is less in width and height by about 3-4 cm.

The maximum standard width of the door frame is 90 cm. It is quite rare, so not all manufacturers produce such products.

Please note that foreign standards differ from ours, so when buying such a door frame, be especially careful.

U-shaped boxes have the advantage: they are compatible with a door leaf of any height, since you can independently cut the racks to the required height. And rectangular frames with a threshold are designed for a certain door size.

When creating a doorway, builders take into account the purpose of the room and its size. For the kitchen, a door leaf with a size of 65x200 cm is usually used.For a bathroom and a bathroom - 60x200 cm.Even if the opening in such rooms is wider, most people put doors of the specified dimensions, and cover the missing centimeters between the box and the opening with platbands.

Sometimes it is easier to reduce the doorway than to put a wider door in a small room.

If there is a threshold for doors to the bathroom and toilet, then its dimensions must be taken into account. For other rooms, a gap of 5–10 mm is left between the curtain and the floor. And for the kitchen, if liquefied gas is installed in the house, it is 15–20 mm. The gap between the basket and the web at its top and on the sides should always be 3-4 mm.

The gap between the curtain and the box should be about 3-4 mm

Door frame manufacturing

First, you need to correctly remove all the necessary dimensions, prepare the necessary tools and materials, and then get to work.

Opening measurements

The height and width of the opening are measured in several places: at the edges and in the middle. The smallest value is then selected.

The width of the opening is measured in at least three places.

You also need to measure the thickness and diagonals of the opening. If the values of the diagonals are very different, this means that the opening is heaped to the side, its corners will no longer be straight. Then you have to either align the opening itself, or take this deviation distance into account when installing the door frame, substituting bars of different sizes in the gaps. However, in this case, the fastening of the door frame will be short-lived.

When measuring, take into account all the irregularities and slopes of the doorway

Tools and materials

To create a door frame with your own hands you will need:

Self-production

After preparation, you can proceed to the very process of making the door frame:

  1. Cutting the material - usually ready-made bars are used, in which there are grooves for the entry of the web. The bars are laid on a horizontal surface so that the grooves are on top. The height of the box is measured. If there is a threshold, its thickness is taken into account. Then the top bar is cut to the desired length. When cutting the material, one must consider the way in which the parts of the box will be connected.
  2. Connecting parts - they can be connected in a single structure in different ways:
    • slotted: this option is reliable, but very difficult;

      It will be difficult for a beginner to make a groove connection.

    • at right angles: the most common option;

      To create a diagonal connection, it is imperative to use a miter box

  3. Processing - to protect untreated wood from mold and insects, the workpieces must be coated with antiseptics. The decorative treatment is painting. The frame is painted after its installation, the color is matched to the tone of the door. Instead of paint, you can use stain and varnish. A MDF box is usually veneered or covered with a special foil.

    To protect against insects and mold, the timber must be treated with an antiseptic

  4. Preparation of side surfaces - on the vertical stand, the places for the hinges are marked. Depressions are made with a chisel or electrofrese, corresponding to the thickness of the fittings. After hanging the door leaf on the opposite side of the box, a place is marked and prepared for mounting the lock striker or door latch.

    Places for hinges are cut on the side rack of the box

Assembly and installation of the door frame

After preparing all the parts, you can start assembling and installing the door frame:

  1. Assembly - performed on the floor, on top of the laid out cardboard. The prepared parts are aligned with each other, holes are drilled with a drill and fasteners are screwed with a screwdriver. It is enough to screw two self-tapping screws into each corner. After assembly, a door is inserted into the box, the presence of the necessary gaps is checked.

    When assembling the door frame, it is enough to screw in two self-tapping screws into each corner

  2. Installation - the finished box is inserted into the doorway, verticality is checked with a plumb line or a building level. All angles are checked: they must be straight. If this is not the case, then you need to correct the position of the box using wooden wedges.

    The box is aligned horizontally and vertically with wooden wedges

  3. Fixation - in the opening, the box is fixed with dowels. Then the door is hung, its free movement is checked. After that, the gaps between the box and the opening are filled with polyurethane foam, platbands are installed.

The dimensions of metal doors are the determining factors that must be taken into account when choosing and installing them. The quality and durability of the entrance structure depends on how accurately the standard for the production of the door and the preparation of the opening for its installation, taking into account all the technical features, will be observed.

Characteristics affecting the dimensions of the door:

  • the material from which the door leaf with the frame is made;
  • type of door and its purpose;
  • opening size;
  • manufacturer;
  • weight.

What should be the doors in height and width

The standard that the dimensions of the entrance door must meet is necessarily confirmed by the standards of GOST and SNiP and is determined by the metric system. According to it, the size of the entrance opening for residential houses should be from 700 to 1540 mm in width, 2055 to 2060 mm in height and 75 mm in thickness.

The optimum width is 900-1000 mm.

According to these data, the size of the door leaf is selected:

  • width from 600 to 900 mm;
  • height 2 m.

Most of the canvases on the domestic market have standard dimensions of 800 or 900 mm, excluding the box. According to GOST, the parameters of the box must exceed the parameters of the door leaf by 6-7 cm, which means that the dimensions of the entire door block will be 870 or 970 mm in width and 2070 mm in height with a tolerance of 10-15 mm.

Also, when calculating the canvas in relation to the opening, it is necessary to take into account the technical clearance for installation (10-20 mm) and the characteristics of the threshold height (25-45 mm).

Type of door construction

Doors differ according to the type of construction:

  • with a transom;
  • single-leaf;
  • one and a half;
  • bivalve.

Single-leaf are divided into standard and narrow. The width of the narrow ones can reach 600-650 mm. Their installation is permissible only in the case of an atypical building layout as an entrance group to a technical or storage room.

Other types of doors are non-standard and large-sized openings are mounted. Double-leaf entrance groups can consist of 2 canvases of the same size or have one wide and one narrow canvases (one and a half).

Width (mm) of one and a half is:

  • 1200 (400+800);
  • 1400 (600 + 800 or 500 + 900).

As a rule, in one-and-a-half structures, the narrow part of the web remains deaf and motionless, while in double-leaf structures, both parts of the web can be movable. Their standard width in mm is:

  • 1200 (600+600);
  • 1600 (800+800);
  • 1800 (900+900).

In this case, the height can fluctuate between 2000-2300 mm. Entrance groups with side and top transoms, which are made to order, also belong to atypical structures.

Mass indicators: features, what influence

It is also important to pay attention to the conformity of the dimensions of the canvas with the box. The slightest deviations in the linear dimensions can lead to difficulties during operation or to a complete replacement of the entrance group. So, for example, using non-standard doors in height / width or purchasing them separately from the frame, there is a risk that the weight of the metal door will deform the vertical support legs of the frame.

As a result, you may experience:

  • difficulty opening / closing the web;
  • skewing of the door leaf;
  • the formation of cracks and drafts.

To prevent this from happening, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • it is necessary to purchase a door with a frame from one manufacturer and in one set;
  • the thickness of the canvas, as well as its height and width, must correspond to the parameters of the box;
  • elements of fixation to the door and fasteners of the box to the opening must be used in a certain amount and selected taking into account the characteristics of the mass of the canvas.

Mass indicators depend on:

  • steel thickness;
  • number of stiffeners:
  • the presence of a filler;
  • type of cladding.

The optimal weight of a metal door is 70-80 kg with a frame. Characteristics such as insufficient thickness and weight (less than 50 kg), as a rule, are found in Chinese manufacturers and indicate poor quality.

Doors weighing more than 100 kg belong to heavy-duty structures, however, they are also non-standard and, because of this, can cause problems during operation.

More detailed information on the choice of their dimensions can be found in the video.

Degree of protection

The specifics of the purpose of the entrance group is also a determining factor when choosing the size or device of the opening. This is how standard and technical doors differ: fireproof, armored, sound- or moisture-proof. The characteristics of special structures significantly increase the degree of protection of the home.

For example, the thickness is 7 cm, and armored reaches 10-12 cm. The dimensions of fire-resistant structures are more impressive and can reach about 2500x2500 mm, which is due to the requirements for their patency during evacuation. Armored ones can also have non-standard dimensions (1200x1900 mm), however, they are more often produced with dimensions of 1200x2050 mm.

When choosing the optimal entrance structure, it is very important to take into account how much the metal door weighs, its thickness and other overall characteristics. It depends on this whether it will match the opening and whether it will be able to protect the house from burglaries, cold and drafts.

Steel systems in accordance with GOST 31173-2003 consist of 2 parts: an outer box, which is a static rectangular frame, and an inner sheet that swings open and closes during operation. These subassemblies have many characteristics, including dimensions. If these indicators are important for the sash, when an oversized sofa is brought into the house or apartment. - Then the dimensions of metal doors with a frame, more precisely, the width and height play a role at the installation stage - the structure must enter the opening, and with minimal gaps. When choosing a block, first of all, these parameters are taken into account, which can be both standard and arbitrary.

Standard sizes

Entrance systems are structures in which the dimensions of the canvas, box and opening are in complete dependence on each other. All these parameters are standardized and, if necessary, based on the width and height of one element, you can easily calculate the geometry of 2 others. If the standard parameters of a 1-fold sash are 2.0 × 0.6 / 0.7 / 0.8 / 0.9 m, then the corresponding size of the door frame of a metal door is 2.071 × 0.67 / 0.77 / 0.87 / 0.97 m. It is obvious that the outer element is longer and wider than the inner one, respectively, by 71 and 70 mm. This principle also applies to the 2-pole standard models: 2.0 / 2.3 x 1.202 / 1.402 / 1.802 m versus 2.071 / 2.371 x 1.272 / 1.472 / 1.872 m.

Similarly, the geometries of openings and frames are interdependent, between which mounting gaps of 15‒20 mm are arranged around the perimeter. The first ones are diverse, since buildings erected both 1 year and 20, 40, and 100 years ago are in operation - it is not surprising that different building standards were in force at different periods of time. Modern steel systems, presented in the "Dvermet MSK" online store, will fit perfectly into niches in houses of any age.

The most demanded systems on the modern market are 0.88 × 2.07 m and 0.96 × 2.07 m. They fit well into most entrances. Or without affecting the fittings allow you to enlarge the niche.

Custom sizes

If for apartments it is almost always possible to choose standard sizes of entrance metal doors with a frame, then with private houses the situation is slightly different. These buildings are often erected according to special projects, so the geometry of the openings is very different. Such niches are provided for both 1-wing systems and 2-fold, one-and-a-half systems, with lateral blind inserts, with upper transoms. As a result, it is not always possible to find a finished product - all that remains is to apply for an individual order. It is carried out after measurements of the opening, and the final one - without slopes, plaster and other layers.

Corrections are made to the geometry of the opening to obtain the results by which the block with the frame is selected. When installing the product, mounting gaps of 1.5 - 2.0 cm are arranged on all sides. It is these numbers that are subtracted from the previously obtained data.
