Divide the room in two with sliding doors. How to divide a room into two zones if the footage is small? How to divide a room with one window into two zones

It is important to properly organize the space in the apartment so that each tenant feels comfort and freedom. For this purpose, the decision is often made to divide the room into two with plasterboard. This is an alternative and correct solution that will allow you to zone the space and everyone feel harmonious and calm. Some people, pondering how to divide a room, decide to carry out their plans by arranging furniture. However, this option does not give the expected result.
Dividing the room into two zones with furniture

The issue of dividing a room into two zones is especially acute among people living in one-room apartments. Indeed, despite the small area, everyone wants to have a corner and feel harmonious. Dividing one room into two zones is not an easy task, if you did not have experience in such matters before. A light and thin material such as drywall will help to solve the issue. With a plasterboard partition, you can advantageously zone the room and get two rooms instead of one.

Before you finally bet on, instead of a cumbersome and heavy brick wall, you need to think it over. First of all, contact the housing and communal service, where they will tell you whether the walls can be demolished.

Important nuances

In order not to face problems during the redevelopment process, you need:

Plasterboard partition

Thinking over the above nuances will allow you to determine as accurately as possible the scheme of the installation process of the partition dividing the space into zones.

Planning zoning

Depending on what exactly the owner of the property wants to receive at the exit, it is necessary to determine what the division of the GKL space will be.

Zoning with a partition in the living room
There are two types of zoning of premises in an apartment using drywall:

  • Open zoning. With the help of this option, the room is only visually divided. Usually a small partition is installed, these can be niches for various accessories that visually divide the room into zones;
  • Closed zoning. In this version of the space, instead of a door can be.

The names themselves speak for themselves about the features of the arrangement of a drywall structure.

Open zoning

As a rule, open zoning means the conditional division of space into zones. For this purpose, you can choose:

Closed zoning

If a decision is made to carry out closed zoning, it should be understood that this design requires special care from the owner of the property.

Closed zoning is the installation of a solid wall that is functional and divides the room into two separate ones.

Closed zoning in the interior

Such a structure should be with good sound insulation, and also act as a full-fledged wall with a connector for an exit (door or arch).

Installation of a partition

When installing a zoning partition, you should be guided by the standard sequence of actions. Namely:

  1. Project drawing.
  2. Collection and installation of the frame.
  3. Sheathing of the structure with plasterboard.
  4. Finishing.

Project drawing

In order for the structure dividing the space of the room into two zones to be correct and harmoniously fit into the room, you need to draw a drawing. This can be done both in special programs and manually.

Drywall arch project drawing
The main thing is to display all the elements, which in the future will be a means for dividing the space.

Collection and installation of the frame

One of the most important points that affect the strength and appearance of a drywall structure is the assembly of the frame, as well as its installation.

Materials and tools

For work you will need:

In some cases, additional elements are also used when creating a wireframe. But this is purely at the request of the owner of an apartment or house.

Step by step guide

  1. First, you need to prepare the material for further work. That is, cut out the necessary elements that will be required to assemble the structure. To do this, you must first decide what it will be.
  2. The profiles, which are guides, are fixed to each other in the form that the plasterboard structure will be. Since it is quite large, it is best to carry out the process of assembling the frame directly on the wall, where the partition will be equipped. Each profile, which is a guide, is fixed on the wall with self-tapping screws, then the elements are attached along the ceiling. If you need to create complex shapes, then you should make cuts on the profiles, this will make it easy to give the metal part the required shape.
  3. The step between the screws should be no more than 25 centimeters. If you plan to install a heavy, solid structure, then it is better to reduce the step so that it is 15–10 centimeters.
  4. When the profiles, which are guides, are fixed, you should proceed to fastening the profiles, which are called rack-mounted. The number of upright beams is calculated taking into account the load on the frame.
  5. If we are talking about installing a solid wall, then jumpers should also be built into the frame, which can be made independently from the remaining sections of the profiles. In any case, we immediately divide the room into parts, determining where the door or arch will be. The lintels will help make the frame structure strong and durable, as well as more stable.
  6. Special attention should be paid to the arrangement. It is necessary to act as accurately as possible so that the opening is smooth. To do this, you need to measure the profiles of the required length. It can be either one long profile, bent into the required shape, or several beams connected with self-tapping screws. To make it easier to shape the frame, it is necessary to make cuts with a knife for metal. The number of cuts is calculated depending on the complexity of the design.

Sheathing of the GKL frame

The stage of sheathing the frame with plasterboard sheets is very important. The accuracy and correctness of the design, which will separate the two rooms, depends on the correct fixation of the sheets.

An example of dividing a room into two zones
When the last stage is completed, you can fully enjoy the result, watching how, through personal efforts, it was possible to divide one room into two.

Many owners of one-room apartments have repeatedly thought about how to divide the living space into a living room and a bedroom area. By removing the wall between the room and the kitchen, you get a full-fledged dining area, which is best visually divided into two rooms. Today, this is the most correct and popular solution, which allows you to get two isolated zones and thereby create comfort and coziness for its owners. This approach will also be the best solution for those who have children in their apartment and only two rooms. One can be set aside for the nursery, and the largest can be divided into a living room and a bedroom for parents. Now we will consider the most popular and effective ways to divide a room into two zones.

Wall partition

Dignity:

  • Practicality and reliability;
  • The ability to create sophisticated and stylish designer partitions;
  • Amazing appearance.

disadvantages:

  • Installed in the process of repair or redevelopment;
  • The installation process is associated with rough work, construction dust, etc.;
  • Price.

The most practical and convenient opportunity to demarcate a room with a wall partition, which can be made of any building material: brick, gypsum board, foam blocks, panels, etc. This option will be an ideal solution for apartments in new buildings or if you decide to make major repairs. It should be noted that such a dividing partition is installed only not over the entire width and height of the room. Thanks to this, air and light will fill the entire room, and not just the area near the window. Whichever type of building material you choose for the partition, it will definitely need to be putty, pasted over with wallpaper or painted.

Decorative partition

Dignity:

  • Amazing appearance;
  • Simplicity and reliability of the design;
  • Practicality and functionality;

disadvantages:

  • Price;
  • Due to its size, it hides a significant part of the free space.

In this case, multifunctional wooden shelving, sliding glass panels with decorative elements, etc. will be used to divide the room into zones. You can use transparent glass with a combined tint, which allows you to get a stylish decorative partition that will become an integral part of your interior. Dividing a room into two zones in the photo, shown above, is just one example of how you can demarcate a room with the help of decorative partitions. Here you can use your imagination to create an original and stylish solution.

Decorative screen

Dignity:

  • Simple and quick solution;
  • Affordable cost;
  • Simplicity of construction;
  • The ability to use it already in the finished interior;
  • Easy and quick installation;
  • Stylish appearance.

disadvantages:

  • Low strength;
  • Limited design solution;
  • When using glass partitions, the price can increase significantly.

With the help of a movable screen, you can quickly and beautifully divide the room into separate zones. The division of the bedroom into zones (see photo) is also possible using a screen. As a rule, the screen is made of thin materials, it can be glass partitions, paper, bamboo, etc.

Zonal separation by color

Dignity:

  • Does not hide the free space in the room;
  • Amazing appearance, with the right choice of color schemes;
  • Not significant financial costs;
  • The ability to use it already in the finished interior.

disadvantages:

  • There is no full-fledged feeling of a separate room, everything that happens in the room will always be in sight. If the family is large, and you decide to sleep, while others are awake, then comfort and peace are not guaranteed to you;
  • The most optimal solution for dividing the guest and dining areas.

In the event that you do not want to pile up the room with wall or decorative partitions, then you can use combined colors and other materials to visually divide the room into zones. For example, you can decorate the ceiling and walls of the bedroom in warm light colors and choose a dark laminate color as the flooring. While for the living room, decorate the walls in a more saturated color, and choose a beautiful carpet of bright color as the flooring.

Partition cabinets are a good and inexpensive opportunity to split the space of your home into parts without repair. Furniture helps zoning a large room, and in a small apartment it is an interior partition. In addition to the obstacle, the design has good capacity and also serves as a storage system for various things.

Peculiarities

A piece of furniture can be irreplaceable in some cases when you need:

  • partition the room into two parts;
  • make the most of the possibilities of a specific volume;
  • find another storage system for a variety of things.

The partition cabinet effectively serves to divide the room.

Of the minuses, it can be noted:

  • insufficient soundproofing characteristics;
  • large volume and some cumbersomeness;
  • custom-made, since it is impossible to select a finished product for a specific purpose.

Varieties

Furniture, which is used as a room demarcation, has several varieties:

  • Rack-partition. Pass-through design with missing back wall. A distinctive feature of an open partition is the convenience of access to things located on the shelves, for this you do not need to bypass the furniture from the other side. Such a rack only separates different parts of the room, without completely overlapping. This zoning option makes the room light and transparent.

This method is convenient if complete isolation of each zone is not required. The shelves of the rack can be used for books, as well as for various little things that give the room coziness and individuality: interesting vases, an aquarium, photographs, flowers in bowls. The partition rack does not visually cover the other half of the room much, as ordinary furniture does.

One of the most successful applications of the partition rack is the use in a children's room for placing educational literature, soft toys, and crafts.

  • Sliding wardrobe-partition. Modern design of the interior partition with sliding sliding doors. It is the most compact and looks very impressive. For finishing the facades of doors, mirror canvases are often used, which makes any room brighter. Even in the part of the room where the window opening is obstructed, it will not be as dark as in the case of a brick wall.
  • Double-sided wardrobe. Sliding wardrobe with two facades, dividing a room or studio into two halves. Doors in this design are placed on the front and back sides. It can replace the wall, while simultaneously performing its main function - storage space. The advantage of this multifunctional building is that there is no need to build a real wall and, accordingly, buy building materials, which saves money.
  • Built-in wardrobe-partition. This version of the partition can be installed without relying on capital walls. The structure is being erected in the middle of the studio.

In this case, furniture with a double benefit is obtained - the dividing wall is combined with the dressing room.

A double-sided version is possible, then the second room will get additional storage corners. Such a structure can have a door that replaces the interior door.

  • Double-sided partition cabinet. Such furniture is not as solid as in the case of built-in furniture, but it is also effective in use. On each side, the wardrobe is equipped with a door or niche. This significantly saves space, as well as money for the purchase of an additional cabinet. From different sides, the cabinet is used in its own way and performs a specific function, in contrast to the blank wall, which is used only for a beautiful picture.
  • An ordinary wardrobe. The most common way of zoning a room. After all, a partition has always been made from the cabinet: it is simple and affordable. This option for dividing a small room has been known for a long time; students partitioned off a room in a dormitory with them to isolate the bed and the dining table.

The forms of these products are diverse: they are rectilinear, angular, trapezoidal, L-shaped. The most common standard option is rectangular. There are also non-standard products, the appearance of which can be in the form of an ellipse, a semicircle.

How to choose?

For small spaces, it is irrational to use a blind partition cabinet, this can make an already small room heavier. Here it is better to use a through rack structure. She can visually enlarge the room, make it more airy.

A double-sided partition cabinet, in which the facades are located on both sides, is more efficiently placed in a large room. Such products, as a rule, differ in great depth, and this visually makes the entire structure heavier. However, the use of mirrored facades can visually enlarge the space.

When choosing a sliding-door wardrobe, it is necessary to pay attention to the material of the rollers used in the door opener. Choose exclusively metal, as plastic is too short-lived.

The sliding system has a profile, which is also important for the operation of the entire system. It can be steel or aluminum. Steel has strength, reliability, long service life, however, it is not as aesthetic as more refined aluminum.

Each cabinet has shelves with edged sides. There should not be cut-in and overhead options, which in quality do not correspond at all to such a monumental and durable structure. The doors of the sliding wardrobe, when used as a partition, must be wider than one meter, this is necessary for ease of use.

How to divide space with a wardrobe?

The easiest way is to turn a room into two: a living room and a bedroom - with the help of a closet, if you put it across, placing it with its end against the wall. At the same time, it is absolutely all the same which model it will be: built-in wardrobe, cabinet, one- and two-sided, with hinged doors or a compartment, open shelving or blank wardrobe. In the living room part, you can place a sofa group with a coffee table, a TV, an audio system, and for a bedroom it will be a bed, a bedside table, a chest of drawers, a dressing table or a dressing table.

Ideas for zoning a room using a partition cabinet are always relevant, as they provide an opportunity to equip an isolated room. Some models of such furniture contain a table or even a bed mounted in the structure. Therefore, behind such an obstacle, it is possible to arrange a bed, a children's room or a study.

Partition cabinet systems can be used from two opposite sides if the design is chosen correctly. By standards, such a structure should have a depth of 60 cm. Only half of this dimension is used on one side, the remaining half is used by the other side.

Alternatively, a library can be installed on one side of the cabinet, with open and closed bookshelves. If there is a bedroom through the wall, the part of the partition facing there can be equipped with pull-out drawers, sections for bedding, and baskets for clothes. If you plan to equip a children's room there, the numerous shelves can accommodate children's books and soft toys.

When equipping a room with a wardrobe partition, the usable area is significantly freed up, and the cleaning process in the house is also simplified. The height of such products is usually from floor to ceiling.

There are models that are as tall as an ordinary furniture wall. As a rule, the capacity of such furniture is much higher than that of traditional furniture.

Numerous zoning ideas using partition cabinets are used by designers in the design of a wide variety of rooms:

  • If a cabinet-style wall extends over the entire length of a room, from wall to wall, it can provide excellent visual and acoustic insulation.
  • The partition wardrobe can be equipped with a built-in door, this will make the movement of residents around the apartment free and convenient.
  • Low cabinets are often found, denoting the zoning of the room only symbolically, while maintaining its visibility.
  • The modern interior is distinguished by such a feature as mobility, and this can be achieved using a wardrobe partition on wheels. To easily modify the room according to the circumstances, it is enough to move the cabinet, which, thanks to the casters, can be done effortlessly.

  • In addition, you can create a new space even in a small room if you install shelving and sliding doors, where you can place a dressing room.
  • It is better to equip the living room with a double-sided wardrobe with a shelving system.

Beautiful examples in the interior

Owners of studio apartments need to solve the problem of dividing into zones. However, it is not possible to install bulky walls or partitions made of bricks or other materials. An affordable way out of this situation can be the use of a wardrobe, a simple cabinet or a rack as a functional partition. By placing such furniture in the studio in the place you need, you can easily divide the space without the special costs and hassle of major repairs.

Quite a common phenomenon is when wardrobes from one large room make two: a kitchen and a dining room. In such a partition, you can even make an opening for the transfer of plates, cups and cutlery. This makeshift window is sometimes fitted with a door to close this opening and isolate the dining room. On the kitchen side, such a design accommodates household appliances: a microwave oven, a dishwasher, sometimes even a refrigerator and shelves for kitchen utensils. And the other side, where the dining room is equipped, may include a small bar, a TV and many open and closed shelves for beautiful dishes.

Dividing a room with a curtain into two zones is an actual solution for both small apartments and large spaces. In each of these cases, using zoning, different tasks are performed: if the apartment is small, you can use a curtain to isolate a corner for work or rest, and if you have a large room, dividing it into zones will add coziness. You don't have to redevelop to get the desired result! Sometimes it is enough to use curtains.

Do you want to divide a room with curtains, but want to study specific examples first? We offer you a selection of photographs with fashionable and functional ideas for zoning space in rooms of various sizes, using different fabrics and curtain accessories.

Zoning the room for your purposes

Dividing living space into functional zones without the use of stationary partitions is a technique widely used by designers. Here are some examples of when zoning with curtains will be relevant:

  • You have bought an open plan apartment and want to maintain a sense of spaciousness. But at the same time, it would be nice to highlight areas in which, if necessary, you can achieve a sense of intimacy and solitude.
  • You are still saving money for major repairs in an apartment or house with a free layout, and therefore decided to use temporary budgetary zoning options.
  • You have a small apartment where there is no opportunity to create a nursery or, say, a study. In this case, the question arises of how to divide the living room into two zones in order to allocate space for work, study or children's games.
  • Each family member wants to have their own individual space, but the layout of the apartment does not allow this to be achieved. Well, give everyone their own piece of the universe with curtains.
  • You want to fence off part of the room in order to solve some specific problem. For example, you need a wardrobe or you want to fence off a sleeping alcove, making it more intimate and romantic.

Unlike plasterboard partitions, curtains allow you to delimit zones, and at the same time preserve the possibility of combining them. And unlike screens, they better provide a sense of privacy.

How to control the curtains?

Engineers and designers offer several options for fixing curtains that zone the room:

Design options

What to choose curtains for zoning a room? Color, texture, density depend on the general characteristics of the furnishings and the chosen interior style. There are many interesting and unusual solutions: for example, eco-style bamboo curtains, vertical blinds, cotton muslin. Japanese panel curtains are ideal for zoning large spaces.

To maintain a sense of spaciousness, you can use hooks that guide the curtain to one of the walls. And be sure to keep in mind that the curtain for dividing the room will be visible from both sides, so its wrong side should look presentable. Therefore, it is best to choose a fabric that looks the same on both sides. If the color scheme in the selected areas differs, double-sided curtains will become an effective solution.

Don't underestimate the benefits of having a room at home. This can be applied as in the case of large apartments, and even more so with small ones. But if, considering an apartment with many rooms, you can allocate space for everything that is needed, equip with furniture and household appliances, and completely recreate the comfort, I do not resort to additional delimitation measures. Then in the case of a small apartment, and, especially, a one-room apartment, things are a little more complicated, and often it is necessary to somehow divide the space. This is where the question arises: "how to divide a room into two zones?" It is necessary to take into account, first of all, the opinions of household members, which may differ somewhat, and still find the right solution in such an anxious issue. But first, let's consider the main ways to divide the space of a room into two zones.

In total, there are many design techniques that help achieve this goal, and not only divide the room, but also visually enlarge it, but their use is limited by the following factors:

  • location and dimensions of the front door;
  • the number of window openings and their location;
  • the presence of a dining room or area for the necessary dining needs.

What are the zones of separation in the apartment?

Today, apartments in new buildings are being sold with minimal finishing, while a one-room apartment in such a building will be quite large. Considering that the zoning of a room completely changes its appearance, and visually changes its size, it is necessary to pay special attention to the choice of partitions, style, furniture, and, of course, the zones themselves into which it is planned to divide the room.

Let's take a look at some of the requirements. Considering the residence of one owner, you should separate at least the rooms, or zones that he needs, and these become:

An addition can be the arrangement of the working area, for those who work exclusively at home. Usually it is performed using glass partitions, which provides comfort, and also gives good sound insulation, while perfectly transmitting light.

Room division methods

So, after all, how to divide a room into two parts, what are the ways for this? The main ones should be noted, and they are the following:

And now, finally, let's move on directly to tips and ideas that answer the question of how to divide a room into two zones, photo examples, respectively, will be found further quite often, which will help you to visually see each variation, and choose what you need.

Division of a room into two zones for one tenant

Each person, one way or another, needs comfort, especially if he lives alone. Of course, everyone has their own understanding of the word "comfort", but we will try to offer a kind of variation of dividing a room into two zones for living yourself. A fairly good solution in this case would be the use of glass partitions, which have significant advantages:

  • The material is environmentally friendly and absolutely safe. Taking into account the implementation of those made of a special type of tempered glass, it is quite difficult to damage it, even by accidentally hitting or leaning on such a partition, it will not bring any damage to it.
  • Due to the high-grade light transmission, such a partition visually expands the space of the room quite well.
  • In the case of any solution in terms of zoning using partitions, you can choose the necessary variation, for example, with engraving, painting, filling with MDF or any stickers and drawings.
  • Such elements can be made in two variations: stationary (solid, fixed) and sliding (with the possibility of sliding, opening).

It should be noted that even taking into account the installation of a transparent partition, visibility can be limited by filling, or installing blinds, which is quite important in apartments that do not have a separate sanitary unit. Thus, it becomes possible to carry out the sewage system directly into the room, and provide partitions for it. Such a solution will significantly save on the construction of full-fledged walls, while dignity. the node will take on a modern look, which will look very aesthetically pleasing.

Next, let's move on to zoning for making a personal account, kitchen or resting place, there are a lot of variations of partitions in this case, including standard transparent, partitions with photo printing, various drawings and stickers, which looks quite attractive, while being as reliable as possible.

Dividing the room into two zones for a family

In cases where one family lives in a small apartment, in order to equip comfort for each of its members, it is simply necessary to separate it into several zones. There are also solutions for this, and there is more than one.

Naturally, there are some rules that must be followed when zoning small apartments.

The first will be a kind of prohibition, in particular, on the use of massive elements as partitions, which, in general, is not advisable. And also a good solution would be to select options for connecting the kitchen and the hallway, which will help to slightly expand the space.

The next thing is a little tip. For the most part, your attention should be focused on the choice of delicate, thin partitions, which in turn allow full penetration and spread further to natural light, i.e. sun rays. It can be any transparent structure. But also, if the propagation of light is not required, usually in the case of a source from several sides of the room, then a completely or partially filled wall can be provided. This design can be made from a wide variety of materials, from glass to metal.

And the last rule is the observance of the color scheme. Mainly, it should include light colors, such a solution will significantly visually expand the space. Even considering the presence of several colors in the interior, the overall decorative picture should not be made in large geometric shapes, and at the same time, each of the shades should be contrasting with respect to each other.

In addition to glass partitions, with drawings made on them, which can also be used to divide the kitchen and living room, partial partitions can also be used for zoning. Such a solution is applicable only if the design of the plan allows it.

Please note that it is strictly forbidden to dismantle the supporting structures.

Thus, if the building plan does not contradict this, it is possible to somewhat lighten and at the same time increase the visual space by combining the salon and the kitchen, while the wall connecting them is not completely dismantled, and in the future, equip a countertop in it, or, for example, cupboard.

Also, a good solution would be the arrangement of movable partitions on rails, or a kind of screen. Such designs will allow, if necessary, to adjust the space, if such a need arises.

Another rather good solution would be to use a plasterboard wall, inside which you can also mount a kind of cabinet, or, if possible, an LED TV fixed on brackets. At the same time, having created a movable base, the TV can be rotated around its axis, and if necessary, rotated in the direction of another room (zone), which is quite convenient.

In the case of the bedroom and living room, zoning with partitions is also allowed, in addition, it can be carried out using furniture. Thus, you can put a decorative shelf or wardrobe dividing the room into two zones.

Also, the role of a partition in this case can be played by other decorative elements, for example, ropes or ropes, or possibly curtains. Moreover, each of them will look quite harmonious, respectively, with the right selection, based on the overall design of the room.

Another rather good option would be metal partitions made in openwork forging. They will give the room a kind of lightness and airiness.

Dividing the room into a nursery and an adult

Every full-fledged family has children, and in any case, every child wants him to have his own personal space. And in the case of living in a small apartment, it becomes necessary to divide the room into a nursery and an adult. In this case, several options are suitable, using a difference in textures or providing a partition (which will be somewhat better).

Considering divisions with the help of partitions, it should be noted that there are a lot of variations in creating textures for children's themes on them. Every child will be pleased if everything in his room is decorated in the style of his favorite game or cartoon, and possibly some other favorite theme.

In turn, the children's room itself can be somewhat divided into an area for relaxation and training, as well as a sleep area. This can be done using the difference in textures, for example, provide for a certain separation of a part of the room with a carpet, against the background of laid out parquet or laminate, which will make the space brighter, more noticeable, and at the same time more comfortable.

In the case when there are several children in the family, especially of different sex or age, they will be somewhat uncomfortable living in a single-colored room. In the case of the living of children of different sexes, it is quite understandable that at an early age, boys are more acceptable with various cars and transformers, and princesses and fairy castles for girls, and they will be capricious and insist on their own. In the case of different ages, it is also clear that, for example, a teenager does not want to live in a children's world. That is why the division of the children's room into two zones is required. It can also be carried out by distinguishing textures or partitions. Next, you can look at the ideas of dividing a room into two zones with a partition in the photo, and perhaps you will like this option.

How to divide a room with one window into two zones

Considering the division of a room into two zones, it is necessary to take into account the location of natural light sources, i.e. windows. If the room is rather narrow, you can equip sleeping places on one side, while making a work area closer to the window (or an area for training, if we are talking about children). If the room is wide, then it can be divided in half in the center of the window.

In this case, you can equip a workplace on one side, and a recreation area on the other, in the case of children, you can provide places for learning or computer tables on both sides for each of them.

How to divide a room into two zones- this question is often asked by the owners of studio apartments and apartments with a free layout, but it is also relevant for small apartments, where you need to combine 2 completely different zones in one room.

If the interior of the room is designed in the same style, then it is rather difficult to place 2 zones with different purposes in it. But designers advise not to give up, because even in a small room you can create an interior that will harmoniously combine, for example, and.

A radical way to divide into two zones

You can divide the room with a partition. It is not necessary to make a brick wall (if you do not need additional soundproofing between rooms), you can divide one room into two using drywall installed on a metal frame.

However, you should take into account that this solution is not suitable for small rooms. A small area, divided into 2 even smaller parts, will deprive your rooms of functionality, make them uncomfortable and more reminiscent of technical rooms than a residential part of an apartment.

Such a solution will not work for most studio apartments, since the charm of such apartments is precisely in the absence of additional walls. You will "steal" valuable square meters from yourself, but you will not achieve positive results.

The main ways of zoning an apartment

If you want to install a partition in a large room, then pay attention to the windows. It is advisable to install the partition so that at least one window remains in both zones.

In some situations, such a solution is impossible, and one of the rooms is left without natural light. In this case, it is best to make a partition of colored or frosted glass, which can isolate the room, but will allow light to pass through.

Mobile partitions for zoning

The advantage of this method of zoning space is that you can always make redevelopment in accordance with your wishes and needs. Partitions are different. So, for example, partitions on an aluminum frame can completely delimit the space from floor to ceiling (while they are not "firmly attached" to the base, which allows them to be carried or removed). You can choose the design of the partition yourself, making it more transparent - glass or "dull" made of plastic and even laminate. Partitions with photographs will be an excellent interior solution. This stylish design element will not only help you zone the space, but also give your room an unusual look.

If you want to enclose part of the room so as not to reduce its size, then use a screen. Since the screens come in different heights, you can choose one that will cover the second area (usually the sleeping area), but at the same time leave free space from the end of the screen to the ceiling. Thus, it is this uncovered part that will allow the room to look solid.

You can make a suitable screen with your own hands, it is not difficult at all. The caracas of the screen must be made of slats of suitable length, fastening them together with nails and corners. Paint the slats and connect them together into a screen, fastening with hinged loops. You can stretch absolutely any fabric on the frame: plain or patterned, silk or linen. The choice of fabric, color and pattern depends on the interior of the main room. Don't forget the legs for your screen.

Rack for room zoning

This method of zoning rooms is very popular among designers. Installation of shelving helps not only to clearly distinguish between different zones, but also adds functionality to the room. On the shelves of the rack you can place books and flowers, vinyl records and your favorite magazines. There is a place here for photographs and souvenirs brought by you from different countries. Try to choose an unusual shape, then the border between the zones will seem less sharp.

Color for dividing a room into two zones

Zoning a space with color is perhaps one of the simplest and at the same time complex techniques. It is available at the stage of apartment renovation. The main problem faced by the owners is the selection of suitable colors. Do not forget that colors should be not only contrasting, but also well combined with each other. If you chose 2 colors from cold and warm colors, then you will need more effort to achieve harmony between them.

To prevent the zones from looking too "detached" from each other, you can use various accessories. So, for example, choosing a warm orange color for the dining area and a cold sky blue for the living room, try to achieve the perfect combination between them. Place accessories in shades of orange in your living room. It could be sofa cushions or a large fluffy rug, a table lamp with a lampshade, or even a painting with beautiful orange flowers. It is worth doing the same when designing the interior of the dining area. A blue tablecloth or dishes, a chandelier located directly above the table, chairs' seats - all these elements will connect two different zones into one beautiful room.

Room height zoning

It is possible to zon a space not only with the help of flowers, visual zoning is also possible with the help of the height of the interiors. This method is also available exclusively at the stage of repairing the premises, as it requires thorough work. You can make two-level ceilings, each of which will correspond to a specific area. Also draw a section on the floor along the border of the zones. It is quite easy to do this using a combination of different materials (tiles in the kitchen and laminate flooring in the dining area, for example). A more costly, but also much more effective way is to create catwalks. Such drywall constructions can transform a room beyond recognition.

But be careful, do not use podiums in apartments with low ceilings, as they take away the height, and you run the risk of making the room very "short".

The organization of living space in an ordinary apartment is a miracle of domestic engineering. The "housing issue" not only spoiled the Russians, it taught us to develop in ourselves abstract thinking and the ingenuity of an experienced designer. How else to adapt a one-room Khrushchev for the comfortable life of a family of three? You can't look at many standard housing projects without tears. Often experiments with the arrangement of furniture and other innocent tricks are not able to save the situation - you want to demolish the walls and rebuild everything. Owners of "odnushki" have the hardest part - initially the size and configuration of such an apartment leaves little room for maneuver. But this is not a reason to give up the dream of a comfortable life! The most popular solution in this situation is to split one room into two. Read about the nuances of this simple redevelopment in our article.

Demolition and construction - what can and cannot be done with walls

Before starting repairs at home, implying any change in the configuration of the walls in comparison with the original plan of the apartment, it is worthwhile to understand that such works are considered redevelopment by law and require mandatory approval. According to the rules, even if you narrow the doorway by half a meter, putting a regular door instead of a double door, this will already be considered unauthorized actions. Moreover, the demolition of old walls and the construction of new ones.

Some types of redevelopment are quite acceptable, while others will never be approved. But, in any case, one cannot do without obtaining formal permission. And for this you have to order a new apartment project from a certified organization and collect a lot of pieces of paper. Redevelopment that was not legalized in time can "emerge" when selling an apartment and slow down the process, in addition, sometimes neighbors, who are annoyed by your repair, write slander to the authorized bodies.

When it comes to dividing a room in two, it rarely ends up building one partition. Usually people try to comprehensively optimize the space - here they grab a couple of meters from the kitchen, there from the hallway ... So what can you painlessly redraw in the layout of the apartment?

Demolishing built-in wardrobes, partitions between a bathroom and a toilet, moving doorways in curtain walls - such changes can be legalized without problems. But changing places of a room with a kitchen or a bathroom is strictly prohibited according to sanitary standards. Also, you cannot combine a room with a gas stove and a living area. If, after buying a home, you decide to convert a one-room apartment into a "kopeck piece", remember:

    By law, the living space must be at least 9 square meters. m and a width of at least 2.25 m

    On the plan of the apartment, the kitchen and the bathroom should remain in their places.

    When combining a kitchen with a room, you will have to abandon the gas stove.

    If there is a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and the room, forget about demolition

Sometimes homeowners come up with a "brilliant" idea to cut through another window in the apartment. In 99% of cases, it is better to part with this dream right away - interference with the supporting structure of the house, violation of the integrity of the facade and the appearance of the building is strictly prohibited. In exceptional situations, you can contact the BTI with a request - there is a tiny chance that experts will agree to consider your project if it is a pre-revolutionary building of an unusual configuration.

The choice of building materials today is amazing. In particular, several technologies can be used to create interior partitions at once - you need to choose depending on your budget and tasks.

When building new walls in an apartment, you need to consider:

    Sound insulation (sound-absorbing properties of the material)

    Space saving (partition thickness)

    The complexity of the technology (will the head of the family be able to build the wall himself or will the workers have to pay dearly)

    The cost of building materials

    The purpose of the room (for the living room, the most non-toxic materials are important, for the bathroom - resistant to moisture)

Construction specialists and experienced repairmen who are used to equipping a house with their own hands advise several types of materials:

  • Plasterboard partitions

During construction, sheets of plasterboard, a metal frame and filler for sound insulation are used. The frame made of upright profiles is attached to the supporting structure of the building and covered with gypsum panels, between which a layer of mineral wool or glass wool is placed.

The advantages of plasterboard partitions are affordable price, simple and fast construction technology. The walls turn out to be smooth, it is enough to slightly putty them and you can paint or glue the wallpaper. The structure can withstand loads up to 150 kg / sq. m (important when attaching shelves, TV, wall cabinets).

Cons of drywall - poor sound insulation. To prevent the walls from looking like paper, you will have to put a lot of filler that will "eat up" the useful space of the room. Also, the sheets themselves are quite fragile and large, during the installation process they are easy to damage, at least two people are required to work. Ordinary drywall is afraid of water - only moisture resistant can be used in the bathroom.

  • Tongue-and-groove plates

During construction, blocks of gypsum boards with a standard size of 600 300 100 are used. The wall is built as a constructor: each slab has a groove and a ridge, the adhesion of which provides additional strength to the structure. The blocks are "planted" on a special glue.

Many experts consider the tongue-and-groove material to be more convenient than drywall. The slabs are laid quickly, the work can be done alone, the wall is flat, thin (about 10 cm), strong and with acceptable sound insulation (in apartments, dense slabs are usually laid in one layer without additional noise-absorbing gaskets). By eliminating the use of glass wool and other fillers, the technology is considered more environmentally friendly.

The tongue-and-groove also has disadvantages. During construction, heavy slabs must be handled with care to prevent chipping. Also, the material has limitations in terms of design - you cannot build walls with bends and semicircular arches from rectangular blocks.

  • Brick

For the construction of interior walls, hollow or solid ceramic bricks are usually used. Solid bricks are better for creating partitions that will hang something heavy (sliding wooden door, oak bookshelves).

It is not for nothing that brick is considered a traditional material - it has optimal sound insulation, strength and moisture resistance. Also, in a brick wall, it will not be difficult to arrange any arch, niche or other decorative element. However, the disadvantages of the technology are also quite tangible. A brick partition will have to be built for a long time, and then carefully putty and plaster. In addition, this material is significantly more expensive than drywall or tongue-and-groove, and the load on the bearing plate between floors is greater.

Successful examples of redevelopment - we move walls wisely

As a rule, the decision to turn a one-room apartment into a two-room apartment with the help of an additional wall is associated with the need to delimit the personal space for several family members. In this case, you need to reconcile in advance - one of the halves cut off by the wall will remain without a window.

In order not to get a stub of a normal room and a dark closet instead of a spacious room, you need to correctly think over the decor and lighting system. When artificially dividing a one-room apartment, designers recommend actively using mirrors in the decoration and, if possible, building not blank walls, but translucent partitions that let light through.

The Moscow building complex took into account the massive desire of Russians to reshape the space of small standard apartments and has developed a whole official album of permitted redevelopments. The catalog includes construction ideas that meet the basic requirements of the current regulations and do not need to be additionally agreed upon. This information is especially useful for owners of old housing in the secondary market - modern new buildings, as a rule, are more intelligently designed. For example, a one-room apartment in a house of the I-1723 series can be legally altered in accordance with the different needs of the family - to separate the bedroom from the living room or carve out a small office.

Both redevelopment options do not imply a significant change in the configuration of the housing - the kitchen and bathroom remain in their places, only a light partition that was intended for the hallway is demolished, and an additional door appears (either through the kitchen or through the walk-through room).

Before starting a large-scale construction at home, once again weigh the pros and cons. Building new walls and moving old ones is expensive and troublesome. Maybe you will be able to achieve the desired effect thanks to the competent arrangement of furniture and zoning of the room?

The space of a small room is visually enlarged:

    Light shades of walls and furnishings

    Vertical accents in the interior (stripes on the wallpaper, high contrast shelving)

    Contrasting piping on the ceiling

    Darker end wall with window (expands space) Bright spot lighting

    A noticeable accent in the corner of the room farthest from the door is a floor lamp or a figurine

In the conditions of modern apartments, people too often have to combine several functions in one room at once. For example, a bedroom can serve as a place for relaxation, study and wardrobe at the same time. Therefore, many are worried about the question of how to correctly divide a room into two zones so that it is both convenient and beautiful.

Image 1. Scheme of a plasterboard partition.

Numerous publications devoted to the interior, and similar television programs often talk about fashionable ways of zoning a room. But often we are talking about large bedrooms. But how to divide a room if its area does not exceed 10 m2? If you approach this issue creatively and first draw up a redevelopment scheme, then this task becomes quite solvable.

Techniques to help divide a room into zones

In order to divide a room into 2 zones, you can use the following techniques:

  • zoning using stationary partitions (for example, from drywall);
  • the use of sliding or mobile partitions (screens, curtains);
  • separation with furniture;
  • visual zoning.

Before dividing a room into two zones, be sure to draw up a rough diagram of the future appearance of the room. Consider where your TV or dressing table will be. And only after that choose the zoning option. Because each of the above methods have their pros and cons.

Image 2. For visual separation of the room, you can use a short partition or a small arch.

Stationary walls, even incomplete (blocking off part of the room) clutter up the room, make it smaller. Even a thin partition eats up space. They also reduce natural light in the bedroom. Because they impede the access of light from the window to the fenced off area.

The second of the above methods is much more popular. The use of screens or curtains does not require a major overhaul of the bedroom. In addition, the design of the room can always be refreshed by changing the design of the partition itself. But many people are annoyed by curtains that have to be pushed back several times a day in order to move from one part of the room to another. And the unfolded screen, dividing the room into zones, takes up no less space than a full-fledged partition.

The easiest way to divide a room is with furniture. For example, a bookcase. But this technique fully has the disadvantages of the first two methods. In addition, a cabinet can take up much more space than a full wall. On the other hand, such a technique will always allow you to change the layout of the bedroom at no cost if the previous one does not suit you or is simply bored.

Experts believe that it is best to divide the room into 2 zones using visual aids. For example, by decorating the part that is set aside directly under the bedroom in one style, and the study in another. For the same purposes, you can use multi-level ceilings or floors. But in order to bring such a solution to life, you need to have an extraordinary taste, certain building skills and a considerable amount of money.

Zoning with a fixed partition

Image 3. A bookcase made of thin slats can be used to divide the room.

If you have a large bedroom with two windows, you can afford to divide the room into 2 zones using a fixed partition. This results in two spaces completely isolated from each other (two new rooms). It is also possible to visually divide the bedroom, separating one part of it from another. For this, incomplete walls are erected that do not reach the ceiling or the opposite wall. An example of such a solution is shown in fig. 1.

In this case, it is not necessary to build a wall of brick, wood or drywall. You can use glass or polyurethane blocks, for example. Such a partition will serve as an additional element of the bedroom decor. A skillfully selected backlight will solve the problem of lack of natural light.

Before dividing a room into two zones, think about what exactly you want to place in one or another part.

Sometimes it is quite possible to build a stationary partition in a bedroom with one window. For example, natural light is not needed in a closet or office where you only work in the evenings. A few lamps located at different levels are enough.

You can visually expand the partitioned room with the help of narrow, but high mirrors. This technique looks especially impressive if the mirror surface reflects point light. Try placing a mural, large painting, or wallpaper on one of the walls that depicts, for example, a balcony overlooking a garden. This technique is also able to "add" space.

How to divide a room into a parent's bedroom and a nursery

The problem of zoning a bedroom into a "child" and "parent" zone can be done using different design. An example of such a solution is shown in fig. 2.

If you decide to use this technique, then remember a few simple rules:

Picture 4. Screens made of light natural fabrics perfectly transmit light and air, and do not visually reduce the room.

  1. Only one small architectural element will help to visually divide the room. This can be a semi-arch, a small stand, or a low and short partition. A two-level ceiling will look no less impressive. The main thing is that the border between the zones is clearly visible.
  2. Try to decorate both areas in the same color scheme. Contrasting solutions, of course, look very stylish. But not every person can think of such an interior on their own.
  3. Combine the zones with an element that combines both styles. It can be a single floor covering, a design of one of the walls that "fits" into both designs, or a large ceiling chandelier.

In any case, use neutral, calm tones for both the nursery and the adult area. Remember that not only you, but also your child will live in this room. For the same reason, do not overload the bedroom with "childish" elements. A funny night light and one picture above the baby's bed will be enough.

Zoning the bedroom and study

You can divide the room into two independent parts using furniture. Such zoning is especially relevant in a room owned by a teenager. Because he needs two separate areas: a place for rest and work. The easiest way to do this is with a bookcase. But you need to choose it correctly.

You should pay attention to lightweight structures consisting of slats or thin tubes. For example, such as shown in the fig. 3.

The shelves of the rack must be high. This is necessary so that the books do not completely clutter them, giving access to sunlight from the window. It is wiser to place some trinkets at about chest level of a standing person on a rack: a collection of figures, sports awards, souvenirs. Heavy and bulky volumes are best placed down.

In order to make the work area look more comfortable, you should not only fence off the computer or desk. Otherwise, this part of the room will resemble a corral. Place an armchair, floor lamp, or small corner sofa next to it. Remove the TV from the bedroom area and equip the “study” with a place to relax and watch programs. Such a technique will make the room more comfortable and discipline the master of the bedroom.

Not only bookshelves are used as a partition. A large stand for the same TV is suitable for this. And if the room belongs to a girl, then it can be zoned with a dressing table with a large mirror. You can finally decorate the decor with curtains.

Zoning of premises using mobile partitions

The easiest way is to divide a room into 2 zones using mobile partitions. These include screens and all kinds of curtains. For example, such as shown in the fig. 4.

If you prefer to zone the room in this way, then follow these tips:

  1. Use lightweight, translucent fabrics. They allow light and air to pass through and do not make the room visually smaller.
  2. Be sure to repeat the pattern on the curtain or screen in other details of the bedroom decor. From the same or a similar fabric, you can sew pillowcases for cushions, chair covers, or repeat an ornament in a wall decor element. But making a dividing curtain and curtains for windows from the same material is not worth it. Such a solution will only "overload" the space.
  3. Give preference to natural fabrics. They are easier to care for, they do not electrify and do not attract dust.
  4. Provide the opportunity to move the curtain to the side and remove the screen. Stationary partitions, even the lightest ones, sometimes get in the way.
  5. Do not use hanging curtains in the bedroom. Their knocking can interfere with proper rest.

But no matter how you decide to divide the room, remember that the bedroom should be cozy. Therefore, do not get carried away with fashionable solutions, but choose a design according to your taste.

A family living in a one-room or two-room apartment often needs to give each family member their own space. And sometimes half measures in the form of a screen are indispensable.

Consider two projects for one room located in a standard Khrushchev building. In this case, the apartment is corner, with one window and one window with a balcony. The area of the room is about 20 m². One door from the room leads to the kitchen, the other to the hallway.

The task to be solved: allocation of a separate room for a teenager. At the same time, there should be enough space for the parents to live. Since the father of the family works at home at the computer and often stays up after midnight, he needs a work area - a kind of alternative to the office. It is advisable to leave the window in one room, and the second window with a balcony in another.

Project 1

How can you divide the room space without affecting the rest of the premises: entrance hall, kitchen, balcony?

The diagram shows that the division of the room occurs by erecting two walls of plasterboard. Installing walls allows you to allocate a smaller room for a nursery. In this case, one of the walls contains a doorway. This project provides for the installation of a standard swing door.

drywall

The second wall has a more bizarre configuration. It allows you to make a built-in wardrobe in the nursery. To save space, such a cabinet does not have its own side and rear walls. The bar is attached directly to the drywall. The cabinet door can be one and move along the guides, temporarily closing the bookshelves. It is possible to install two sliding doors that combine the wardrobe and bookcase into a single whole. This is also more practical, since solid surfaces "eat up" space less than small colored objects (in this case, the spines of books). If you make the front of the wardrobe mirrored, the space of a small room will visually increase.

Another modern wardrobe solution is a fabric curtain. To do this, a second rod is installed in the opening of the wardrobe, onto which the curtain is attached. You can use the same fabric for it as for the window. The only caveat is that the drawing should not be large and bright, as it will visually reduce the room.

There is a bed near the "warm" wall, which is shared with the kitchen. A small computer desk is placed near the window.

A small room needs ventilation. You can solve the draft problem by installing a plastic window with ventilation devices.

Adult room

As for the "adult" room, in the place farthest from the window there is a sleeping area with a sofa that unfolds forward. When folded, the sofa does not interfere with free movement around the apartment. A flat-panel TV is located on the central wall, the distance from the screen to the eyes is optimal for viewing.

Along the long wall, space is reserved for a wardrobe, which simultaneously insulates the cold outer wall of the house from the living space. A small computer desk is also installed here for work. To the left of the balcony is another storage space. This is such a mini-pantry in which you can store an ironing board, vacuum cleaner, mop. Shelves can be installed. The pantry will be closed from public view by a hinged door.

Project 2

Children

In the second project, the configuration of the walls dividing one room into two is preserved. But there is no bookcase in the nursery. The area of the nursery has become slightly smaller than in project 1. But the lack of books has reduced the amount of dust-generating factors. Otherwise, the placement of furniture in the nursery has not changed.

If you put a loft bed in a small room, then it is easy to place a work area with a desk under it. In this case, there will be a free corner for games or an additional cabinet. You can take it under the recreation area. Instead of a bulky chair, it is convenient to use a bean bag chair.

Adult room

What does the minimum change in the area of the nursery give?

A comfortable niche has appeared in the adult's room, in which a cabinet and a TV can be placed. In addition, the niche will allow you to hang shelves above the TV, which are additional storage space, which is especially important for a small space. At the same time, they will not interfere with the passage into the room from the kitchen.

The father got a dedicated workplace, practically his own office. It is very small, but it is located around the corner of the wall, in the farthest corner of the apartment. Thus, the light from the computer screen at night does not enter the sleeping area. In the daytime, such an arrangement is also relevant - there is less fuss around and there is an opportunity to concentrate.

Moving the computer desk allows you to increase the size of the wardrobe. From the side of the balcony door, it ends with a corner column with rounded shelves. If the door of the wardrobe is made mirrored, then the area of the bedroom will not only increase visually, but there will be more light in the room. In addition, you can compensate for the lack of lighting by using spotlights on the ceiling or lighting a wardrobe.

How to get along in one room: apartment zoning

All happy families are equally happy. But not everyone's living space is growing at the same rate as the number of household members. Even if the size of your apartment is small, the family can be accommodated quite comfortably. The main thing is to give everyone a personal space.

The interior design of a one-room apartment is a very interesting topic, albeit not an easy one. It is necessary to combine several zones in one room: a bedroom, a living room and work spaces. Not so long ago, I finished a design project for a one-room apartment with a total area of 36 m² for a family of two adults. It seemed to my clients that everything you need could not be placed in such a small area! Let's try?

So, the first situation: "odnushka" for a family of two adults

After visiting the facility and drawing up a measurement plan for the apartment, I began work on the layout of the premises. I offered my clients the option of a studio apartment.

The principle of the studio helps out perfectly when there is a shortage of space. To do this, it was necessary to demolish some of the walls and expand some of the doorways. Therefore, I made sure that these walls are not load-bearing and that their demolition will not damage the structure of the house! In part, I combined the corridor with the room by dismantling part of the wall. This visually enlarged the living space and made the hallway more spacious. Then I removed the wall between the kitchen and the room and placed a comfortable round table on the border of the two zones that would not fit in a cramped kitchen.

If the combination of the kitchen and the room seems too bold for you, you can delimit the zones with a bar counter, partitions or even vertical blinds. In this case, you can change the layout at any time: when you need to cook something, close the kitchen; before the arrival of guests, open it, visually increasing the space.

My clients asked to place a study in the apartment. It was arranged along the wall opposite the balcony. The bathroom was combined with the bathroom: the entrance to the bathroom was laid, and the partition between the bathroom and the bathroom was removed. This allowed the installation of a large and comfortable bathtub, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Having closed the passage from the corridor to the kitchen, I won a few square meters and arranged a closed dressing room in this area. To do this, it was enough to erect a lightweight partition made of foam concrete and make a doorway facing the corridor. This solution has many advantages: you get a full-fledged dressing room, things are not scattered throughout the apartment and, in addition, there is no need to install sets of cabinet furniture in the room, which look bulky and visually reduce the space.

After the redevelopment, the living area of the apartment can significantly increase!

Situation two: one-room apartment for a family with a child

If it is a pleasure for one or two to live in a studio apartment, then when a small family member appears, it is difficult to do without a private area.

First, as in the first case, we combine the kitchen with the room to expand the living space. After that, the living area can be moved closer to the kitchen and dining table, and the back of the room can be converted into a full bedroom. To do this, we build a thin foam concrete partition 2/3 rooms long or use vertical blinds (or sliding doors), behind which it is easy to arrange a cozy sleeping area.

For a child, I suggest choosing a loft bed - an analogue of a bunk bed, but without the lower berth. The freed up space at the bottom can be used for a workplace and storage.

For a family of three, it is more convenient to divide the bathroom, you can use thin partitions.

General Tips

Use loggias and balconies as functional areas. Of course, the corresponding SNiPs prohibit combining the loggia with the living area. But you have every right to insulate this room and completely glaze it. The loggia can be well equipped for a living space if you sheathe its walls with a double layer of insulation and wooden panels or clapboard. Such insulated loggia can always be turned into a universal storage room.

Give preference light colors in decoration ... It is better to paint the ceilings in a tone or slightly lighter than the walls.

You can expand the space with multiple mirrors .

Zoning living space "odnushki" can be carried out using shelves, sliding partitions, screens. In order to isolate the recreation area, you can install light partitions with wicker or woven inserts or with glass inserts.

You can demarcate the space - without partitions: take into service color combinations, different materials in the decoration of the floor, walls, ceiling. For example, put a carpet in the recreation area, a parquet board in the hallway, and ceramic tiles in the kitchen; make a multi-level false ceiling (it is desirable that the height from the finished floor to the ceiling is at least 2.80 m).

For lighting choose flat fixtures.

Podium - a popular zoning solution when space is tight! You can install a bed on it, and under it - something like a wardrobe with drawers for storing bed linen, clothes or other things.

Furniture in a one-room apartment you need to choose a light, functional one. The ideal option is furniture on wheels. Then it can be easily rearranged from place to place. Even better if it is transforming furniture: folding chairs, sliding tables and sofas.

All these "tricks" will help significantly save space.
