Do-it-yourself supply valve for plastic windows. How to choose a supply valve for plastic windows? How to remove the vent valve from the window

Mold on the slopes, stuffiness and "crying" windows are the consequences of the tightness of modern plastic windows. Problems are solved by installing a supply ventilation valve for plastic windows.

Ventilation supply valves for PVC windows are mounted on the upper part of the window sash, creating an air supply to the room. The special design of ventilated windows does not let the rumble of the street through, providing peace and quiet without creating drafts. Existing vent valve designs are suitable for aluminum windows, plastic and wood.

Having some skills and using our instructions, you can organize the supply ventilation of plastic windows with your own hands.

How the supply valve works

It is possible to correctly equip the window supply ventilation only by understanding the mechanism of its operation. This is especially important, since to install the most common valve design, it will be necessary to cut a hole 1 cm wide and about 30 cm long in the window. At the end of the work, it is closed by the valve body. It will not be possible to remove the valve, so as not to open the ventilation slot on the window profile.

The inlet valve for PVC windows is part of the passive ventilation. Cold air is sucked into the room and pushes warmer air into the exhaust ventilation ducts. The movement is provided due to the pressure difference, so natural ventilation works when the outside air temperature is less than +5 degrees. In summer, passive ventilation will only work with forced draft.

Thus, for the operation of the supply valve, the following conditions are necessary:

  • Exhaust natural ventilation must be in good working order in the apartment. To check its work, you should close the door to the apartment, open the window in the room as far as possible from the ventilation duct and attach a piece of paper to the grate. If he holds on, the hood is fine. Even when the hood pulls poorly, the valve will slightly improve the air condition in the apartment, but its efficiency will be low;
  • The air temperature outside is less than +5 degrees;
  • There should be free air exchange between rooms in the apartment. That is, the doors are open or there are 2 cm wide gaps under them. You can make ventilation holes in the lower part of the doors with a total area of 130 sq. see for bathroom doors and 200 sq. see for the kitchen;
  • So that there is no air leak from the entrance, the front door should be sealed as much as possible.
  • Many owners are afraid of freezing of the ventilation inlet valve for PVC windows. Indeed, if the supply ventilation valve is adjusted incorrectly, the phenomenon is possible. This is evidenced by numerous reviews of the owners of plastic windows. In severe frosts, the valve must not be closed completely.

    Then it will be warmed up by warm air from the room and the icing of the plastic window with ventilation is excluded.

    If the ventilation valve needs to be closed completely, the air supply gap is sealed from the outside. The slit closes very carefully, ensuring complete impermeability.

    But the increase in noise in the apartment after installing the supply ventilation valve on the plastic window should not be scared. The slot for the air supply is very small, so the sound insulation will decrease slightly, which is confirmed by the reviews on the supply ventilation valves for plastic windows.

    Supply valve efficiency

    This question certainly arises for every apartment owner with metal-plastic windows without ventilation. To avoid wasting money, check the expected performance before purchasing the valve.

    Remove the seal from the top of the sash. No need to cut it, just leave it hanging. To reduce the flow of air, slide a piece of the elastic back into place. Leave the window in this state for a few days. Pay attention to the following parameters:

    • room temperature;
    • the presence of condensation on the glass;
    • whether there is street noise;
    • is there a draft.

    After the experiment, the seal is inserted into place.

    By the way, the air temperature in the room after installing the supply ventilation valve for plastic windows will be lower. After all, cold outside air enters the room. If the apartment has excellent heating, the owners will not even notice the difference of 2-3 degrees. Otherwise, you will have to abandon the installation of a ventilation valve for a plastic window and think about purchasing a supply unit with heated air.

    The need for supply valves on plastic windows

    There are owners who prefer warmth to fresh air. And they are wrong. In America and Europe, using plastic windows for 30 years, there is the term "unhealthy building syndrome". It refers specifically to sealed buildings with poor air exchange. Being in such rooms is harmful to humans. According to the WHO, diseases caused by poor indoor air quality kill 5,000 people every day. It is the internal air, not the polluted street air! In America, up to 30 thousand people a year die from diseases caused by an increase in the concentration of radon in apartments. Gas is released from the ground, building materials and accumulates in houses that are not equipped with plastic windows with ventilation. Radon is completely invisible without special devices.

    Air conditioning does not replace the ventilation of plastic windows!

    Supply window handle

    The ventilation valve for plastic windows is installed instead of the standard handle. Many PVC window owners do not want to install ventilation inlet valves that protrude beyond the sash. For them, a convenient solution has been created that allows you to ventilate the room without disturbing the appearance.

    Advantages of window supply ventilation in the form of a handle valve:

    • The ventilation valve is located in the place where condensation usually appears on the plastic window. The valve creates natural air movement, which is especially important in the cold season;
    • The combination of a handle valve and an exhaust ventilation system creates a healthy indoor climate, removes excess moisture;
    • The supply ventilation valve in the form of a handle for plastic windows is a direct-flow design. According to the laws of physics, penetrating into a warm room, cold air does not create condensation. That is, the valve will not freeze in winter;
    • The valve is equipped with an air filter that keeps dust out of the room. The filter is changed every six months.

    There are still few reviews on the handle-shaped supply ventilation valve, because this is a novelty. But the principle of its operation is similar to the well-proven ventilation devices for metal-plastic windows. This design is also suitable as a ventilation valve for aluminum windows.

    It is not difficult to install a valve for ventilation of a plastic window with your own hands. The kit includes detailed instructions and a diagram of the hole pattern in the window sash air chambers. All fasteners are included.

    Do-it-yourself installation of a supply valve on a window

    You can install the supply ventilation valve on the plastic window yourself. An experienced home craftsman will spend no more than an hour on this.

    You will need the following tools:

    • ruler;
    • screwdriver or screwdriver;
    • sharp knife;
    • valve.

    The do-it-yourself supply valve for plastic windows is installed on the flap of the window. First, you need to make a mark in the middle of the upper part of the sash using a ruler. The order of work depends on the valve design. So in some cases, for equipping a window with ventilation, you only need to replace the seal section with the supplied one. For other models, you will have to make a gap in the profile. When choosing a ventilation valve for aluminum windows, it is preferable to stay on the first option, since it is difficult to cut the supply slot neatly at home.

    Manufacturing firms usually supply their devices with detailed instructions, allowing you to equip the ventilation of a plastic window with your own hands.

    Step-by-step instructions on how to install a supply valve for window ventilation in the video:

Inlet valves for windows provide room ventilation - more efficient than with standard ventilation. I have come across the installation of this part many times, and found out that the construction is actually simple. I will tell you about the key features of the supply valves and how to properly install this device with your own hands.

Valve Description

Main varieties

  1. Main device... Installed indoors, it performs the main function - to regulate the air flow. In mechanical models, a slider shutter or a rotary shutter is responsible for this. The automatic ones have a strip of hygroscopic material that changes in size when the humidity level changes.

Some models are additionally equipped with a deflector - a special plate that allows you to adjust the direction of the air flow.

  1. Mounting plate... A simple device that is used to install the valve itself on a sash. Made from durable plastic (sometimes with metal reinforcement). On a number of models, the mounting plates are available with several latches, which makes it possible to install the valves in different positions.
  2. Outer visor... Placed on the outside of the window to protect the ventilation opening. It can be completed with a lattice that retains insects and small debris. Also, a useful addition to the outer visor will be an acoustic one, which does not impede the passage of air, but significantly reduces the volume of external noise.

Air inflow into the room is provided simply: the air enters the room through the open ventilation hole of the valve. This is due to the work of the exhaust ventilation, which is responsible for the removal of "spent" air masses.

It is very important to have a properly working hood. If you block the removal of air, then the installation of a ventilation valve will become meaningless: there will still be no inflow.

Automatic models also have a dependence on humidity: the higher it is, the more intense the flow of air into the room will be. This normalizes the microclimate, and at the same time reduces heat loss. Savings are achieved simply: when there is no one in the room (that is, the humidity will be minimal), the valve almost completely blocks the flow of cool air from the outside.

Brand overview

Choosing a supply valve for a plastic window, you may encounter certain difficulties. There are several models that look almost the same on the outside.

A brief overview of the most common brands of window ventilators:

Illustration Valve brand

Aereco- the leader in its segment, produced in Germany. Provides effective automatic regulation of the inflow due to the hygroscopic element. Does not provide for the possibility of complete shut-off of ventilation.

Kit cost- from 2500 rubles.

SIEGENIA aeromat- another device from German manufacturers. Can be installed on the side of the sash. It is regulated both manually and automatically (depending on the model), provides good air flow in a fairly compact size.

Price quite high - from 5 thousand rubles.

Titon- British brand of valves with a fairly simple and effective design. The most popular are models with a mechanical slide-type adjustment.

Price- from 600-700 rubles.

Ventair(Poland). The range includes both mechanical and automatic models. There are devices with soundproofing and heat-insulating inserts.

Price- from 1200 rubles.

AirBox- Russian-made products. The inflow is controlled mechanically, without taking into account the humidity in the room. The ventilator can be completely blocked.

Price a set with a standard visor - from 500 rubles (there are also more expensive models).

Of course, other products are also on sale, but in general, the table more or less fully conveys the objective picture. If you want to save money, buy domestic products with simple mechanical adjustment. If finances allow, then pay attention to more functional and efficient European-made ventilators.

Advantages and disadvantages of the solution

Advantages of supply ventilation using valves

The ventilation valve for plastic windows is primarily an alternative to traditional ventilation with a slightly open sash. That is why I evaluate the advantages in this very aspect.

  1. Constant ventilation. Not everyone will keep the sash in a slightly open position all the time, and because of this, the room is steadily receiving less fresh air. There is no such problem with the valve.
  1. Uniform air exchange. Another aspect of the previous plus. Air is supplied constantly and in small portions - this is enough to maintain the oxygen level in the apartment at an optimal level.

It is important to choose a model with ventilation of the required intensity. For this reason, by the way, I do not like handle valves: their capacity is very low. And to achieve the effect, you have to install devices on all windows, which is long and expensive.

  1. Saving heat and maintaining a comfortable temperature. With micro-slot ventilation, the loss of thermal energy is very noticeable, and the air cools down a lot. With ventilation with the help of a valve, the flow of cold air is metered, and even it gets almost to the ceiling - to the warmest zone. As a result, discomfort is completely absent.
  1. Moisture normalization. Outside, drier air enters, which contributes to the establishment of a comfortable microclimate. In addition, as a result of a decrease in humidity in the room, the glass unit is less likely to fall out.

The second prerequisite for the implementation of this item is an efficiently working hood.

  1. Preservation of burglary resistance. Even the most efficient fittings only work in the closed position. That is why it is much safer to ventilate the window during the absence of the owners with the help of a valve than in the "classic" way.

Disadvantages of devices

The climatic window valve is not a universal solution. He also has disadvantages.

  1. High price. Yes, you can find quite cheap models, but you will have to pay a lot for a functional device with automatic adjustment. Plus, installing a ventilator will cost you a certain amount - unless, of course, you decide to do everything yourself.
  2. Limited bandwidth... The volume of air entering the room through the valve depends on the area of the inlet. The compact size of the products does not allow making this hole very large. So for a spacious apartment, you need several inflow points, which can be expensive.

Throughput can be reduced as a result of improper installation - for example, drilling a series of holes instead of milling a slot.

  1. Decrease in noise insulation. Although the effectiveness of protection against loud noises from the outside does not decrease by much, if you live above a busy highway, the difference will not be difficult to notice. Various devices (acoustic inserts, compensating visors) solve the problem only partially.
  1. Risk of freezing. In severe frosts (down to -25 ° C), frost sometimes forms on the upper part of the valve. The presence of frost does not greatly affect the temperature sensations, but it is still unpleasant.

Actually, I would only call a significant disadvantage the cost of the products - the rest of the shortcomings can be tolerated.

Algorithm for installing a window ventilation valve

Tools and materials

To save money on equipping the apartment with ventilation air inlets, it is worth mastering the technology of their installation with your own hands.

Installation tools:

  1. Drill with a set of drills.
  2. Electric jigsaw.
  3. Screwdriver or screwdriver.
  4. Level.
  5. Roulette.
  6. File.
  7. Sealant gun.
  8. Hole milling template.

Typically, professional installers make a metal template that facilitates precise routing. For a one-time work, you can do with a cardboard one, or even apply markings on the window with a marker and carefully work on it.

Materials:

  1. A set of parts for installing the valve - the device itself, mounting plate, visor.
  2. Mounting screws.
  3. Silicone sealant (transparent or matching the color of the window profile lamination).

It is advisable to carry out all work with goggles and gloves. To equip PVC windows located above the second floor with a valve, it is worth using an assembly safety belt.

Sequence of installation work

Typical instructions for installing supply ventilators on plastic windows are provided in the table. The nuances may differ for different models, but the general installation scheme remains the same.

Illustration Installation stage

Preparation of the structure.

The window sash can be removed from the hinges and installed in a vertical or tilted position.

The upper part of the fittings is removed from the sash - scissors and an angle gear.

We dismantle the striker plates from the frame, which can interfere with milling.

Marking for milling.

A template is put on the overlap (vertical protrusion) of the sash, along which the marking is carried out.

If there is no template, then you can mark the holes by simply attaching the mounting plate to the structure.

Sash milling.

According to the marking, the groove is milled for installing the ventilation valve. For this, several holes are first drilled with a large-diameter drill, and then they are connected using a jigsaw.

Window chambers, opened during milling, are filled with silicone sealant to avoid moisture ingress and whistling when air passes through.

Installing the mounting plate.

Apply silicone sealant to the surface of the mounting plate, which will ensure its tight adhesion to the sash.

We fix the mounting plate on the sash using self-tapping screws.

Valve installation.

We install the ventilation device on the sash by snapping the fasteners onto the mounting plate.

Installation of the visor.

On the outside of the frame overlap, we install a protective visor. For fastening, we use self-tapping screws, we treat the junction of the part with the frame with a sealant.

When assembling the visor, we must be careful: it is highly recommended to use insurance.

Completion of work.

We put the fittings and striking plates in place, after which we hang the sash on the hinges.

We select the optimal ventilation mode on the ventilation valve.

Some models do not require milling grooves or drilling holes in the overlays - to install them, you just need to remove a fragment of the window seal. However, the area of the hole formed in this case is clearly insufficient for effective ventilation.

Conclusion

The valve installation scheme described by me will be within the power of any craftsman with at least minimal skill. So, after reading the given tips and watching the video in this article, you can seriously save on the installation of supply ventilation. If in the process of preparation or work you have any questions, you can ask them in the comments!

A distinctive feature of metal-plastic windows is the ability to retain heat in a residential building. They effectively prevent the penetration of sound, cold, moisture. At the same time, these solutions do not allow providing the interior space with sufficient fresh air. The only correct solution is to install a supply valve on plastic windows. What kind of products are these, and what is their purpose?

Do you need air inlets at all?

Plastic windows have a lot of obvious advantages. They were appreciated not only by the owners of city apartments, but also country cottages. But with all its "pluses", visually beautiful solutions de facto worsen the microclimate of housing. Installation of supply valves on PVC windows is the most affordable and simple way to normalize the temperature and humidity conditions, leveling the risk of mold and mildew formation.

So what exactly is this device and how does it work? The supply valve for plastic windows is a small solution that is usually installed in the upper sash of the frame. It is located in a strictly horizontal position, due to which the exhaust function is realized. A small valve not only eliminates the likelihood of condensation in the frame, but also helps maintain a comfortable microclimate.

It is advisable to use supply valves for windows for a number of reasons:

  • in the course of its functioning, any heat losses are excluded, the level of sound insulation remains at the original level;
  • unlike traditional ventilation, drafts do not occur;
  • the window opening does not change in any way in terms of light penetration;
  • the product can be easily installed, no problems arise during operation;
  • the operation of the device can be adjusted at your own discretion.

Why do you need supply valves

Design features and nuances of functioning

Competent installation of the supply valve on a plastic window is possible only if there is an exhaustive understanding of the mechanism of operation of this device. In the process of installation work, a section with a rubber seal is removed from the structure of the window opening, both at the sash and at the frame. It is replaced with an additional layer of sealant and an air inlet, to which the role of passive ventilation is delegated.

The solutions installed in this way allow warm air to be removed outside and fresh oxygen is taken into the room. This is achieved due to the pressure difference. The system works provided that the temperature outside the window is not lower than + 5 ° С. In the sultry heat, ventilation products are activated thanks to forced draft.

A valve for a plastic window includes a number of elements:

  • outer structure of the air intake(mounted only on the outside of the frame). Above the product itself, there must certainly be a visor that prevents moisture and atmospheric residues from penetrating inside;
  • compact telescopic duct- a small element, combined with the window body and fixed with a special sleeve;
  • inner fragment located inside the room. From a structural point of view, it is one of the most complex elements of the system, which includes: a control mechanism (for adjusting the air flow), a filter grate and an outlet nozzle.

Construction device

There are a number of conditions required for effective work in plastic windows:

  • functioning of the main house ventilation duct;
  • the presence of natural air exchange (small cracks in the floor, in the interior doors);
  • tightness of the front door;
  • outside the window the temperature regime is not lower than + 5 ° С.

Be sure to watch the video on the principle of the supply air device.

Transfer of "Miracle of Technology" to NTV, about Aereco supply valves

A wide range of exhaust solutions for PVC windows is on sale. As for the differences between specific models, it is customary to consider them according to a number of criteria.

Varieties of air inlets

Depending on the prevailing design material:

  • metal;
  • wooden;
  • plastic.

Fresh air intake method inside the room:

  • Overhead solutions... Ventilation valve for plastic windows with high efficiency. Its key feature is the need to "fit" the frame and glass unit design to the exhaust device. Such products cannot be built into a finished window. The main area of application is warehouse facilities, industrial complexes.
  • Supply-slotted structures... Air is drawn in through a 16 cm slot. Inside the room there is a special regulating block, and outside there is an inlet block that prevents the penetration of insects, small particles and precipitation. There is no need to dismantle the window for installation. The product is characterized by a sufficiently high performance.
  • Folded products... One of the most affordable window varieties. The supply of fresh oxygen is carried out through small cutouts located in the vestibule. The solutions are distinguished by good sound insulation, low bandwidth and ease of installation.

By type of control:

  • manual;
  • automatic.

note! Original designs in the form of a handle valve are in great demand. This product replaces the traditional window handle without compromising the appearance of the opening itself.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a ventilation valve

Let us dwell in more detail on the nuances of installing a valve with our own hands. This event does not require any specialized skills, and in time the whole process lasts up to 40-60 minutes.

To install the supply valve on the windows with your own hands, you should prepare:

  • sample;
  • medium-length screwdriver;
  • complete valve;
  • stationery knife.

All of the listed elements necessary for the installation of small products are included in the standard delivery set. The length of the valve does not exceed 35 cm. In addition to it, you will need 2 seals, the length of each of which is at least 16 cm, as well as an additional 35 cm segment. Special fasteners on self-tapping screws are used to fix the structure.

Stage 1 . Localization of the installation site... It is customary to place window supply valves in the upper part of the sash. Experts recommend marking a place in the middle of the structure, and then attach a template to it and circle it around.

Stage 2 . Removing the seal... In the marked area, the standard seal must be removed. It is not fixed too tightly and if you make small cuts with a clerical knife, then the rubber product can be completely removed.

Stage 3 . Installation of fixing dowels... Insert 3 fixing plugs into the free groove. Their main purpose is to mount the valve body on the base of the leaf. One dowel is displaced exactly in the middle, and the remaining 2 are placed along the edges.

Stage 4 . Installing the ventilation device on the window... To make it easier to work, we recommend that you first apply double-sided assembly tape to the sash surface. The valve is located in the most preferred position.

Stage 5 . Fixing the valve on the sash... The ventilation product must be attached to the profile structure using self-tapping screws (do not forget about the dowels). This will allow the product to be securely secured enough.

Stage 7 . Removing the old frame seal... In order for the ventilation device to function properly, it must provide a supply of clean air. To this end, experts strongly recommend abandoning the standard seal, replacing it with the one that comes with the valve. Opposite the fixed valve, a segment is marked, the total length of which must be at least 35 cm. Dismantle the old seal and then replace it with a new one.

The seal in the frame is as shown in the image below. If we take a narrower seal, then a small gap will form between the sash and the base of the frame, through which fresh oxygen is taken in. The window will remain functional.

This completes the installation process. At your own discretion, you can adjust the oxygen flow using a small slider. In the right position, the curtain will be fully open, therefore, the air flow will be maximum.

The device considered in our article is a useful and necessary solution for every home, which allows you to significantly improve the microclimate of your home. Installation work, if desired, can be done with your own hands, without the help of specialists. Installation features depend on the configuration, design and specific valve model.

The principle of ventilation is based on constant air circulation in the apartment. However, modern plastic and metal-plastic double-glazed windows impede free air exchange. To ensure the flow of air into the apartment in the required volume and to make living in it as comfortable as possible, a supply valve is installed on the window - a compact, simple design device.

Most of the urban residential buildings are economical housing, which means that the construction of high-rise buildings uses a natural ventilation scheme. It consists in the free circulation of the air environment inside the rooms, which is carried out due to the temperature difference outside and in the building.

Air path in a typical three-room apartment

Fresh air enters through the window gaps, vents, open window sashes, as well as small gaps under the door leaves, specially provided for this purpose. The spent medium is discharged through the technical openings located in the bathrooms and kitchens, into the general ventilation ducts and mines.

If there is a violation of the inflow and exhaust scheme, the microclimate in the apartments will be disturbed, which will immediately affect the well-being of the residents. Stuffiness, high humidity and dust particles provoke the onset of diseases in humans, as well as the appearance of mold.

To adjust the movement of air, various devices are used, for example, split systems or conventional fans inserted into ventilation ducts.

Duct ventilation is installed in houses of the elite category

In apartments with sealed double-glazed windows, there are simpler solutions, for example, installing a supply valve on a wooden or plastic window. The compact device delivers air in a constant or cyclic mode, the choice of which depends on the temperature and humidity parameters necessary for a comfortable stay.

Supply valve for PVC windows

The design and installation details depend on the installation location of the device. For example, wall models are most often mounted under a window, near a heating radiator or convector. It is important that at least partially heated air flows into the room. Window devices are placed directly on plastic windows - these are the devices that will be discussed below.

Purpose and design of the supply valve

Supply devices, like micro-ventilation systems, are designed to improve the microclimate in living rooms, offices and industrial premises. They provide a full volume of fresh air, which heats up over time, rises up and moves towards the ventilation openings.

Appliance painted in the color of the window frame

There is one nuance that should be remembered when choosing and installing any supply device: its work becomes effective only when the hood is functioning well. If the general ventilation shafts are clogged with debris or the temperature outside is the same as in the house, ventilation will not be carried out. In this case, it is mandatory to install equipment for forced circulation: hoods, fans, air conditioners, split systems.

The design largely depends on the type of valve, but most of the popular folded models consist of the following parts:

  • an outdoor unit for air intake, covered with a technical visor;
  • indoor module, fixed to the frame from the side of the room;
  • a connecting channel cut into the frame and resembling a sleeve.

There are also universal monoblock systems, which are a single element. Installation of such models is straightforward.

Variant of the model installed at the top of the casement

It is better to find out what parts a particular model consists of before buying. To do this, you can ask the sales assistant for the installation diagram. Perhaps the selected model does not suit the installation method, size, shape or color.

Types of window valves

Depending on various factors, all valves for supply ventilation windows can be grouped. For example, there is a classification according to the place of installation for a plastic insulating glass unit. If desired, the device can be secured at the following points:

  • horizontally on the upper crossbar of the frame;
  • into a gap formed by two connected plastic elements;
  • in the place where plastic and glass touch;
  • from the end of the sash;
  • on an additionally installed element.

Usually, devices are chosen that merge with the plastic in shade and do not interfere with the opening / closing of the doors.

Installation site - upper plane of the window sash

According to their design features, the products are divided into slotted, laid on and folded. The former are placed horizontally directly on the plastic surface of the sash. Due to the mobility of the frame, the device can be fixed without dismantling the glass unit.

Overhead models in the domestic sphere are practically not used, since their installation is carried out before inserting window structures. Folded devices are "implanted" into the frame, having previously cut a hole. The installation has some nuances, so it is better not to fix the supply valve on the PVC windows with your own hands, but to entrust this responsible procedure to a specialist - a representative of the selling company.

Folding valve appearance

In terms of performance, supply air products can be of small, medium or large performance. Devices with minimum indicators - up to 6 m³ / h - are used for small rooms that do not need volumetric air exchange. One piece is enough to equip ventilation in a bedroom, living room or children's room up to 20 m².

Products of the middle category with parameters up to 35 m³ / h are suitable for large rooms or premises where active air exchange is required. Large capacity - 150 m³ / h and more - is needed for halls in which a large number of people gather, or for industrial premises.

Benefits of automatic devices

Regardless of the design, all products are divided into three subgroups:

  • without the possibility of adjustment;
  • with manual adjustment;
  • automatic.

The first subgroup is the simplest devices resembling an insert. Through a small hole, the outdoor atmosphere constantly enters the room. Since it is not possible to stop feeding, the productivity is low. It is good to install such devices in utility rooms or corridors.

Mechanical models are manually operated. They are also simple in design, however they are equipped with a small curtain or shutter that can be used to interrupt the air supply. The devices are installed in a convenient and accessible place. If the temperature outside has dropped sharply, it is enough to close the valve. The advantages of the models are the low price and simple operation, the disadvantage is the periodic lack of ventilation.

Manual valve

The third subgroup was recognized as the most successful, as it acts independently. Thanks to temperature and humidity sensors, the device turns on at the right time, and when the microclimate in the room becomes ideal, ventilation stops.

The most expensive models not only automatically change operating modes depending on humidity and temperature, but are also regulated using automation. You can program the automatic supply valve on the plastic window so that it closes during the day and turns on at night, or makes more active ventilation of the room before the owners arrive home.

Popular brands rating

Well-known manufacturers of ventilation devices do not need additional advertising, since they have been present on the Russian market for a long time and have proven themselves only from the best side. Their products are cutting edge and have many advantages over less popular competitors. Let's take a look at some of them.

1st place - Russian company AIR BOX

The range of products offered is not large, however, among the supply ventilation valves for AIR BOX windows, it is easy to find the right option, since there are manual and automatic ones, with and without milling.

You can choose a model from three series: Comfort, Standard and Comfort C. Comfort valves have two mounting options - built-in and fixed to the frame from above. Depending on the installation, the productivity of the device changes slightly: without milling, it reaches 31 m³ / h, with the cutting of a special hole, it increases to 42 m³ / h. The models are adjusted manually.

After installation, the AIR BOX merges with the plastic base

For lovers of automatic devices, the Standart series is offered. Automation is limited and is aimed at adjusting the speed of the air masses of the street. If the wind increases, the moving elements move to a different position, thereby weakening the pressure. This is necessary to protect the house from drafts. But the AIR BOX Standart supply valve for PVC windows also has a very significant disadvantage - low performance. It only flows through 5 m³ / h.

Comfort S models are designed for wooden frames. Before installation, three holes must be cut in the horizontal top bar: two for inserting the device elements and the third for fasteners. The productivity of the devices is 41 m³ / h.

2nd place - French manufacturer AERECO

Today, three window series of Aereko supply valves for plastic windows are produced: EMM², EHA², EMM. They are all hygro-regulated. This means that when the humidity in the room changes, the devices independently change the position of the elements and reduce or increase the air consumption.

Sectional design of Aereko EMM

The presence of a protective canopy for the EMM² and EMM designs allows to reduce the noise level by up to 37 dB. The EHA² series models have an improved design and are equipped with a manual switch. The EMM modification has the ability to adjust the air flow: vertically or at a slope.

3rd place - Polish brand VENTAIR

The supply units have successfully combined aesthetics, functionality and reasonable cost. The performance of the devices is sufficient for ventilation of residential premises - up to 25 m³ / h. The devices are adjusted automatically due to pressure and humidity changes.

The advantage of the models is that they reduce the flow of incoming air in winter or on windy days, thereby protecting against drafts and heat loss in the room.

In addition to the listed manufacturers, products under the brands Systemair, Vents, SINAX AIR, Rehau, Fläkt Woods, Gealan, ALDES, SIEGENIA-AUBI have proven themselves well.

Installation instructions for the supply valve

Household supply products have a low cost, but more importantly, the possibility of self-installation. The devices are easy to mount on the window sash, while a minimum of working tools is required: a construction knife, a screwdriver. You will also need a stepladder if the installation site is high. Take the installation instructions for the slotted model as an example.

Step-by-step procedure:

  • Step 1 - checking the supply package of the supply unit. The kit includes the device itself, three pieces of seals (one - 35 cm and two - 16 cm each), self-tapping screws for fastening to the frame.
  • Step 2 - trimming and removing the seal from the top of the sash. To do this, we take the valve and, focusing on its length, we cut out a piece of 35 cm.
  • Step 3 - installing the plastic parts. We take the plastic dowels from the kit and insert them into the groove from under the removed seal.
  • Step 4 - valve installation. Remove the protective film and place the device on the sash so that the mounting holes are opposite the dowels.

  • Step 5 - tightening the screws. We insert the screws one by one into the holes and use a screwdriver to tighten them.
  • Step 6 - installation of the seals from the kit. Instead of the removed seal, insert two new ones, 16 cm each.
  • Step 7 - Installing the seal on the adjoining frame. To create a gap between the seals, we change the rubber gasket and on the frame - put the one that is included in the kit (35 cm).

At the end of the work, we close the sash, check the functionality of the supply valve. If there is an adjusting knob, move it left / right, achieving a change in the volume of incoming air.

According to this principle, most of the slot air inlets are mounted. However, there are models, the installation of which is fundamentally different. Such devices include a supply valve-handle for a plastic window. Outwardly, it resembles an ordinary handle for opening and snapping the sash, but the lower part of the case is a ventilation valve.

Handle valve before installation

Installation is carried out similarly to the installation of a conventional handle, but an additional hole is cut for the air flow.

Sometimes additional adjustment is required after installation. Usually it is advisable if the principle of operation of the device is not yet clear. To understand the functioning of the device, you need to smoothly move the handle and monitor the result. If the air flow appears to be weak, the clearance should be increased.

Comfort air setting

If the installation of the device seems difficult, it is necessary to study the instructions more closely. If after that you still have problems with installation and configuration, invite the wizard.

Alternative expert opinion on the effectiveness of climate control window valves. Be sure to watch the video before violating the integrity of the inner sealing contour of the window:

Manufacturers assure that the supply valves will help to establish a comfortable microclimate, get rid of drafts and condensation on the windows. Good ventilation is a guarantee of sound sleep and excellent well-being for all family members, but you should hardly expect miracles from an inexpensive household device.

Systems on the market can be divided into three categories.

Slotted

The device is mounted in the upper part of the opening sash or vertical impost. For installation, you have to dismantle part of the fittings and mill holes in the metal-plastic profile. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to entrust the work to professionals.

Structurally, the system consists of two blocks. One is mounted from the street side. It serves both as an air intake and a visor that protects the channel from precipitation. The second block is placed on the inside. It contains a mechanism that regulates the intensity of ventilation.

The main advantage of this design is its high throughput. The length of the ventilation duct varies within 170-400 mm, and the width is 12-16 mm. This is enough to organize the microclimate in large rooms.

Overhead

They are integrated into the window profile at the stage of frame manufacturing. It will not be possible to establish them after the fact. In everyday life, such systems are not used due to the excessively large bandwidth. They are usually used for ventilation of large offices and sales areas.

Products are indispensable in pavilions with solid glazing, when it is not possible to make ventilation ducts in load-bearing structures. Unlike wall models, their disadvantage is low sound and thermal insulation.

Folded

They became popular due to their low cost and ease of installation. You can install them yourself in just half an hour.

The product is placed on the top of the sash in a gap. Fresh air enters the room through a small gap in the seal. The design is very simple, but provides for the ability to adjust the air flow.

Installing such devices in a hall or large living room is useless. They will not provide adequate air exchange. They are best used in a kitchen or small bedroom.

Methods for adjusting valves on PVC windows

Manual

A handle or a slider is provided on the body of such devices. Its movement changes the position of the damper, and hence the intensity of the air flow. Such designs are reliable and durable. There is practically nothing to break in them. However, there are a number of disadvantages:

  • Limited access. The controls are located at the top of the sash. Every time you need to change the position of the flap, you have to take a chair. In some models, this problem is solved by installing a lace, like in blinds.
  • Static. It is very difficult to maintain a constant microclimate with their help. To achieve a comfortable environment, you have to change the position of the shutter depending on the weather. It is not always possible to find the correct mode.

Automatic

Such products have a number of advantages:

  • Maintain a constant microclimate. The device independently creates preset comfortable temperature and humidity. The air flow rate is adjusted based on the readings of the sensors.
  • Autonomous. The product works without electronic components. It does not need mains power or batteries. The flap is moved by nylon belts. Depending on the pressure, they change their length and, accordingly, the position of the damper.
  • Profitability. The supply of fresh air increases with increasing humidity, for example when there are many people in the house or when laundry is drying. In a relaxed environment, the device does not overcool the house, which reduces heating costs.

Pros and cons of supply ventilation valves

Advantages:

  • Household appliances are simple and reliable. You can install them yourself.
  • The vent cover removes excess moisture from the most favorable place for its formation - the border of the temperature difference. If there was perspiration or condensation on the double-glazed windows, the number of drops decreases or they disappear altogether.
  • There are no drafts in the room, as with micro-ventilation or full opening of the window. This means that the risk of colds is reduced.
  • Air exchange between the apartment and the street takes place continuously. You breathe fresh air all day long, not just when airing out.

Disadvantages:

  • In severe frosts, budget models can freeze up.
  • The vast majority of products do not have filter elements. Because of this, dust and foreign odors enter the house.
  • Only expensive models can cope with full-fledged microclimate control. In the budget, you have to independently monitor the temperature and humidity in the house - constantly changing the position of the damper depending on weather conditions.

How to choose a supply valve for plastic windows

Let's list the most important criteria that you need to pay attention to when choosing:

  • Noisiness. When air masses pass through a restricted opening at high speed, noise is generated. A comfortable sound level is in the range of 30-40 decibels. Models in which a narrow long gap forms on the minimum vestibule can whistle in strong winds. If in the working position the valve does not fit snugly against, it may rattle.
  • Performance. Directly depends on the nominal diameter of the ventilation holes. The larger the area of the channels, the more fresh air enters the house through them. When choosing a specific device, you need to build on the area of the room and the number of residents. The productivity of different devices varies in the range from 6 to 150 m3 / hour. It is better to choose a device not exactly according to its parameters, but with a margin of 1.5-2 times.
  • Air preheating. In classic models, cold air masses are warmed up by a warm convection flow from a radiator. In northern areas, this may not be enough. Then you need to select electrically heated equipment.
  • Filter type. In structures that are mounted on the sash, they are absent. Models integrated into the frame can be equipped with filter elements. When using them, dust from the street does not get into the room. But the filter must be constantly cleaned, otherwise the performance of the device will greatly decrease.
  • Installation method. There are universal models that can be integrated into the window profile of any manufacturer. Some of them you can install yourself. But some of the structures must be mounted at the stage of manufacturing the frame.
  • Price. Each of the options listed above affects the cost. If you are too demanding on the microclimate, it is worth comparing window devices with other options for climatic products.
