Drywall Lift - Tips for DIYers. Lift for gypsum plasterboard: ready-made and do-it-yourself solutions (drawings) Mechanisms for mounting drywall solutions

Making a drywall lift with your own hands is much more profitable than buying or renting. The purchase will cost about 5 to 10 times more than the cost of the parts. If you rent it, then at the next repair you will need to spend money on the lifting mechanism again.

Self-production can take up to 5 days, but it will save money and reduce physical activity. The weight of one sheet of drywall reaches about 30 kilograms and requires constant help from 1 or 2 people. With such a weight, the sheet must be firmly and evenly fixed, which takes a lot of time and effort. The elevator can withstand on average up to 50 kilograms of weight, reliably fixes the sheet for the required time at the right angle, which is good for the quality of work.

Types of lifts and methods of use

Lifts differ in purpose, materials, construction and additional details. There are the following types:

There are many types of drywall lifts, but you can also make one yourself, it will take about five days.

  1. For walls - fastening to vertical surfaces is carried out.
  2. For ceilings - mounting is possible only on horizontal surfaces.
  3. Universal - Supports a drywall sheet at any given angle.
  4. With a mechanical drive - lifting is possible with the help of a winch screwed onto a drum.
  5. With an electric drive - the lift is controlled by a remote control. The presence of this device makes the work of the master as comfortable as possible.
  6. A multipurpose reliable lift is made of metal elements.
  7. The wooden one is mainly used as a retainer, its functions are limited.
  8. Equipped with an additional platform for the master, which replaces the goats.

A drywall spacer is useful in the following cases:

  1. For the installation of drywall sheets: carrying, lifting and fixing is carried out. The design is convenient for working with materials of various sizes.
  2. For marking ceilings and corners with a laser level that must be securely attached to the turntable. This method allows you to make the correct markup the first time.
  3. For the installation of lighting, air conditioning and ventilation systems, profiles in hard-to-reach places.

The mechanism operates on the principle of a jack. First, a sheet of drywall with clamps is securely fixed to the surface of the spacer table. Then, using a lifting mechanism, the sheet is delivered to the selected height and installed at the desired angle, provided that the lift is universal.

Mechanism and device

A drawing of a drywall lift will help you understand the components of the mechanism, decide on the choice of parts and fasteners. The store version of this device consists of:

The price of ready-made lifts in stores can be quite high, so many choose a slightly more difficult path - to build such a mechanism on their own.

  • front and rear bottom pillars;
  • front and rear top pillars;
  • frontal, middle, rear beams;
  • upper spacer rack;
  • lashing cable;
  • console heads;
  • lanyard, staples, bolts.

Functional elements of the lift:

  • Frame for fixing the sheet: a table in the form of "H", this form is considered the most stable.
  • Retractable T-shaped props.
  • Telescopic stand, consisting of three pipes: main, middle, small and two nodes, with which the table lifting height is regulated. The pipes are inserted into each other according to the principle of "nesting dolls" - first there is a pipe of 80 mm, then 60 mm, then 40 mm. Round and square profiles can be used.
  • Chassis for extending and securing in the desired position.
  • A winch that connects to the drum and adjusts the lifting height. Usually bought in a store, making it yourself is very difficult.
  • The tripod consists of three sliding metal legs with wheels: two swivel ones, one welded. The casters must have locks to secure them in one position. Swivel casters fold easily for transport.

What parts, tools and apparatus are needed:

  1. Metal profile with a section of 80 mm, 60 mm and 40 mm, round or square; wheels, rollers, two beams, winch, chassis, bolts.
  2. Bulgarian, welding machine.
  3. Electric motor cables.
  4. Nails and hammer for wood construction.

It is easier and faster to make a wooden structure, but if you have auxiliary devices and the skills to work with them, it is better to make a strong metal mechanism for lifting drywall.

You can make a lift yourself from wood and metal, the second option is considered more successful and durable.

DIY instructions

After you have carefully studied the drawings, purchased the necessary parts, prepared the tools, we can safely proceed to the assembly of the lifting mechanism. There are several homemade lift models:

  • Making a Wood Stopper - Lift Alternatives - Using Nails and Hammer:
    • Fasten two wooden beams together with the letter "T" with nails. The length of the timber should be equal to the height of the room and reach the ceiling, the width of the structure is at least 90 centimeters.
    • Reinforcing kerchiefs are located between the horizontal and vertical parts, which are installed diagonally at an angle of 90 °.
    • If necessary, the horizontal surface can be extended with additional beams.
    • Such a simple retainer can only hold the sheet in a horizontal position, it is not equipped with a lifting mechanism, so its height has to be additionally adjusted for different rooms.
  • Making a metal universal hoist from pipes using a welding machine:
    • The base is made of a metal pipe 80 × 80 mm, the support for the pipe is welded from two corners.
    • Legs with braces are welded to the pipe on four sides. The legs should be removable or foldable for ease of transport.
    • Let's move on to making a telescopic tripod. It should consist of three pipes of different cross-sections. The widest pipe 80 × 80 × 2 mm is at the bottom, the middle one has a size of 60 × 60 × 2 mm, the thinnest part is at the top, its size is 40 × 40 × 2 mm. We insert the pipes one into the other, fix each segment with a plug on one side. At the end of the thinnest pipe, we make a mount for a turntable.
    • The spacer table will consist of pipes 40? 25? 2 and 30? 20? 2. We connect the pipes in the shape of the letter "H", welding them to one another. The middle lintel must have holes for fastening the props.
    • Next, you need to make two supports. Each one is welded in a "T" shape, with a long vertical leg on which to drill a hole. Such supports are connected to the table using bolts.
    • We attach the swivel mechanism to the assembled structure.

We fix the drum and the winch on the thickest tube of the rack, and the swivel mechanism on the thinnest one.

  • All components are bolted together, which allows, if necessary, to disassemble the lift and hide it until the next repair or transport it to a new location.
  • Such a mechanism is multifunctional, which means it will bring significant benefits during various types of work.

If the do-it-yourself lift for gypsum board is made of good materials, correctly assembled, then it will last a very long time, it will be convenient to store and transport. Fastening sheets of drywall to the walls and ceiling, the master will be able to perform better and with less physical effort.

Plasterboard finishing of surfaces located at a significant height, for example, ceilings, is rather difficult. Plasterboard sheets are of considerable size, it is extremely inconvenient and tedious to hold them even together for a long time. Professionals have long found a solution to this problem using purchased lifting mechanisms. But what if you don't want to spend money on them? With some skills, it is quite possible to make a drywall lift with your own hands.

Lift functions

The main purpose of the plasterboard lift is to deliver and hold a drywall sheet at the desired height during installation. This allows not only to greatly facilitate the work, but also makes it possible to carry out the installation of drywall alone.

Naturally, craftsmen quickly adapted the lift to perform other related tasks:

  • By attaching a laser level to a drywall lift, you can better perform the markings and avoid mistakes. The level is fixed with clamps, and then rises to the required height. Such a device provides ideal marking of the ceiling and corners of the room.
  • It is irreplaceable when in hard-to-reach places. The device allows you to fix the profiles during their attachment.
  • The lift will greatly facilitate the installation of not only drywall, but also any massive suspended equipment: air conditioners, chandeliers or air ducts.

Varieties

According to the area of use, GKL-lifts can be:

  • wall;
  • ceiling;
  • universal.

They differ in the location of the plane of the table on which the drywall is mounted.

The most practical is a universal lift, the working surface of which can change the incline level.

The industry offers many types of these devices, but they are not cheap. Usually they are purchased by construction teams specializing in the installation of plasterboard structures. But they often prefer to make lifts themselves.

Self-made lift

The finished products do not always suit the craftsmen, and the extra costs do not add to their popularity. The device for fixing drywall "Premos" will cost about 15 thousand rubles. Therefore, many people prefer to make a drywall lift with their own hands, and they take the drawings from various Internet resources or design the device themselves.

What do you need to remember when making your own lift?

Four constituent elements can be distinguished, the presence of which in the structure is mandatory:

  • A chassis or tripod that creates the base. Better on casters equipped with a locking mechanism. This will make it easier to install the device in the desired location.
  • Telescopic stand. It can be made of pipes or squares of various cross-sections, nested into each other according to the principle of matryoshka dolls. In this case, the extension is carried out by a system of rollers and a special cable.
  • A spacer table on which drywall or other lifting elements will be fixed.

It is better if the table has a rotation function: this will not only facilitate the loading of drywall, but also make the device universal.

  • Winch, due to which the telescopic rack of the device will be extended. Can be manual or electric.

Important nuances

Some points to consider:

  • Regardless of the material, whether it is metal or wood, posts and other parts that experience severe stress, it is required to provide "kerchiefs" or other elements that give rigidity and strength.
  • The folding design of the lift is preferable: it is easier to transport it, and it will take up much less space during storage.
  • In addition to the locking device available on the winch or rack and pinion, it is imperative to provide an additional device that reliably fixes the working table in the raised position. Otherwise, there is a risk that the unit will collapse under load, which could result in serious injury. What exactly is not worth saving on is your own safety.

Plasterboard is one of the most demanded materials for covering ceilings and walls. But at the same time, it is also one of the most inconvenient in a single installation. Every master knows that it is extremely difficult to attach hinged sheets on their own, without the help of 1-2 helpers, due to the significant weight of the material, which, when using solid panels, ranges from 18 to 35 kg (depending on the type of gypsum board) and its extensive surface.

Therefore, in such situations, it is most advisable to use a drywall lift.

What is this article about

Why do you need a lift

This device is designed for comfortable transportation of gypsum board panels to a specific installation point, lifting and fixing them to the frame or directly to the plane of the ceiling and / or wall. The installer can only fasten the sheet with self-tapping screws, without making significant efforts for this, that is, without holding the sheet and not inviting assistants.

In general, a drywall lift helps:

  • In the sheathing of frames with sheets of large dimensions;
  • When equipped with a level, the possibility of installing panels, without additional control;
  • In the supply and support of other building materials to hard-to-reach places, in particular, frame elements.

Types of lifts

Its practical application depends on the type of construction.

So they distinguish:

  • Wall lift with vertical table for installing sheets on walls or partitions;
  • Ceiling with vertical bed, for work on ceiling sheathing;
  • Versatile - with a rotary table for adapting to mounting on different planes.

Where is applied

The standard device can be used in different rooms:

  • In an ordinary room;
  • On balconies;
  • In narrow corridors;
  • At large commercial, public or industrial facilities.

Where to get a lift

Getting a drywall lift is easy. It can be:

  • Buy - what is beneficial for professional craftsmen, finishing workers who regularly carry out such work at the facilities;
  • Rent - for those who make a one-time ceiling on a small area;
  • Do it yourself - again, this is suitable for craftsmen, finishers or those owners who decided to twist the gypsum board on their own on a surface with a significant area.

How to choose a mechanism

When choosing a device for carrying and mounting material in a store, you should take into account some of the features and capabilities of the units.

  • Lifting weight - which for regular installation should be at least 30-50 kg;
  • The height of the rise is at least 4-5 meters, which, as a rule, is enough surplus for installation in ordinary houses and apartments, where the height of the ceilings rarely even reaches these parameters;
  • Material of manufacture - it is advisable to ignore models with unreliable plastic elements;
  • The shape of the platform of the lifting base - it is preferable that it be n-shaped, since such bases are considered the most stable;
  • Two-functional lifting both on horizontal and vertical planes - if the master considers this factor necessary. You can buy a car with only top lift;
  • Possibility of convenient transportation of the model. Most of the units are equipped with rollers for easy movement, as well as a collapsible design;
  • Management - can be carried out manually by jack or by electric drive. Here, the choice again depends on the working area and the regularity of the installation.

In the market for building / finishing materials and tools, a lift for installing drywall is not uncommon. It can be purchased at almost any specialty store. It is very easy to make a choice in favor of a particular brand. After all, all branded models are exclusive and focused on the specific needs of installers.

The most popular devices from:

  1. Knauf Corporation. Among the sold out, the lift for plasterboard panels - "Plattenheber". The device allows fixing sheets, both horizontally and vertically;
  2. Premos companies. If you choose a professional drywall lift, you should pay attention to this brand. The company's models deliver material to a height of up to 4.5 meters, and also perfectly cope with a load of up to 100 kg, allowing you to work not only with gypsum boards, but also with heavier panels;
  3. "Edma" - multifunctional models for all their mobility. So the GKL lift from this French brand is comfortable to operate even in tight conditions.

DIY lift

If the purchase is impractical for some reason, you can make a lift with your own hands. The Internet has all the necessary drawings for this.

You also need to know the main elements that make up this device:

  • The tripod is the base on which the whole structure rests. Often equipped with casters with locking accessories;
  • Telescopic tripod - made from sections of a profile pipe, inserted into each other. Recommended sections - 8, 6, 4 cm;
  • Turntable stand. Mounted on an H-shaped base;
  • The winch is a portable beam, purchased separately, since it is problematic to assemble it yourself;
  • As additional accessories, a mounting platform and an electric drive can be installed on the mechanism.

When making a device yourself, you need to carefully consider its design, schematically depict it on a sheet of paper.

A simple assembly step consists of several assembly steps:

  1. To make a tripod element, it is necessary to create a base from a 6 × 6 cm profile pipe. The tripod consists of 3 elements, one of them must be welded, and the other two have a swivel mechanism, they are mounted to the central post element. All 3 tripod legs are equipped with sturdy castors;
  2. Then, to the base, you need to weld the legs with the braces sawn with the grinder. If desired, they can be made folding or even removable;
  3. The tripod is ready, you can start creating a retractable tripod;
  4. To do this, you need to cut the profile pipes - 8 × 8 cm, 6 × 6 cm, 4 × 4 cm. They are inserted into each other, with padding in the form of plug elements. Such an element can be square or round. The telescopic tube is mounted on the B-pillar;
  5. At the end of the upper tube, a stand mount is mounted. It can also be of a removable type;
  6. Next, the table itself is made. For him, you initially need to create an H-shaped platform. Its middle jumper should be of a through type, for retractable props required for volumetric, rigid support of the sheets;
  7. The supports are welded in the shape of the letter "T" and are fixed using quick-clamping mechanisms;
  8. At the final stage, it is necessary to firmly fasten the winch. As a rule, the fastening is a outrigger beam with braces.

Mini lift

You do not always want and have time to tinker with the manufacture of a capital lift, so you can also make a mini-clamp.

It is made from a flat bar with dimensions of 40 × 20 cm, the height varies according to needs. The width must be at least 90 cm.

  • Such beams are needed 2. they are connected to each other with the help of self-tapping screws about the shape of the letter "T";
  • The same beam is used to make gusset elements connecting the vertical and horizontal parts of the "T" in the likeness of a mop, at an angle of 90 degrees;
  • Several of these elements are made, and they are fixed to the base.

The mini retainer is ready. It is much less convenient to use than a conventional lift, it rather performs a supporting function, but it is easier to work with it than climbing the sheets on the trestle every time a new panel is required.

Plasterboard sheets are one of the most demanded finishing materials, but at the same time the most inconvenient for self-assembly. It is very problematic to install the gypsum board in place and attach it to one person alone because of the significant weight, whose mass, depending on the thickness and variety, fluctuates in the range of 18 - 35 kg, as well as because of the vast surface. This is especially true when it comes to finishing the ceiling. The way out is to use a drywall lift.

Why do you need a lift?

The device lifts to the ceiling and fixes drywall sheets at the place of future installation, some models are also capable of transporting gypsum board to a specific point. When using the device, the installer only screws the sheet with self-tapping screws, no significant effort is needed to work, and the invitation of assistants is not required. Modern models are equipped with a level or building level and therefore provide the ability to install sheets without additional control;

By design and practical application, there are three types of lifts:

  • wall models for supplying gypsum board to vertical surfaces;
  • ceiling options;
  • universal with a swivel base for mounting sheets on different planes.

The device is quite compact and can be used both in spacious office and industrial premises, and in narrow corridors or on balconies.

The plasterboard lift also has unusual applications. For example, it can be used to lift air conditioners, lamps and other bulky items.

Lifts for drywall are not exotic lately. They can be bought, which is carried out by professional finishers who have a large amount of work, or rented if one-time work is coming. And also this device is made by hand.

How to choose a specific device model

When choosing a ready-made lift, several factors must be taken into account, the most important of which are the lifting weight of the device (the minimum value is 30-35 kg) and the working height. If for a standard GKL apartment, 3 meters of lifting height is usually enough, then models with this parameter of at least 4-5 meters are more suitable for use in commercial facilities.

You should also take into account:

  • the ability to move the lift;
  • the presence of the option of a two-function lifting: both on vertical and horizontal surfaces (universal models);
  • the main material of the device - avoid models with an abundance of unreliable plastic elements;
  • collapsible design of the device - for transportation to another object;
  • ease of control - manually using a winch or electric drive;
  • the shape of the lifting platform - H-shaped options are the most stable and therefore more preferable than others.

On the modern market, there are many lifts for the installation of drywall. Some of the most famous are the universal (vertical-horizontal) Plattenheber from the German company Knauf, multifunctional and mobile French EDMA devices, Russian development - the Premos models that can handle loads up to 100 kg.

How to make a device with your own hands?

If buying a cooking device is impractical, and there is nowhere to rent it, it makes sense to think about making a lift with your own hands. It will be easier for you to work if you have an idea of its structure. Before starting work, draw a sketch or diagram of it, and if you have certain skills, draw up a drawing of the future product.

In general terms, such a device consists of:

  • the base on which the entire structure is built, often with wheels and stoppers;
  • vertical telescopic tripod - it is made from sections of profile or round pipes with a cross section (diameter) of 40, 60, 80 mm, inserted into each other;
  • table - turntable support.

To make a hoist, you need a winch. It should be purchased ready-made: it is very problematic to assemble this element yourself.

Manufacturing steps

The first stage of the assembly is making the base, which looks like a tripod or the letter "H". In the center of the structure there is a central post, on which the lower part of the tripod is subsequently installed, and the "legs", if necessary, are equipped with reliable rollers-wheels.

After that, they begin to create a telescopic tripod. Profile (round are also suitable) pipes with a cross section (diameter) of 80, 60, 40 mm are inserted into each other like a nesting doll, fixing with plugs so that the elements do not fall into each other. They will be pulled up using a winch, a roller mechanism and a strong cable.

The tripod with the lower, widest part is installed on the central post, the winch assembly is mounted on the outrigger beam with braces, and the mount for the future support is mounted at the upper end (on the thinnest tube).

You can use not three, but two or four pipes of these or other diameters. Their number, diameter and wall thickness depend on the conditions of future operation. The more weight you have to lift, the more powerful and durable the tripod needs to be.

To simplify the manufacture of the lift, you can use not only a ready-made winch, but also a completely factory rack instead of a homemade one.

A rectangular platform-stand is welded from pipes or other metal profile and attached to the tripod. The method and orientation of the attachment depends on the conditions of future operation - the lift will be designed for vertical or horizontal operation.

Hello friends! Today I want to talk about how to properly use a drywall lift. When my friend and I were doing the ceiling renovation, I noticed how difficult it is to do without additional tools. I assembled the crate, and invited a friend to install the whole sheets. And that was not easy: he stood and held the sheets while I quickly worked with a screwdriver. If you are planning not one-time repairs in your own apartment, but constant work with drywall, you will need a lift. With its help, you can lift the sheets without damaging their integrity, and neatly fasten. Let's figure it out together in all the intricacies of the process.

Plasterboard lifts: types, classification, design solutions

Builders, finishers, constantly performing work on the installation of ceiling plasterboard structures, know how difficult it is to keep the gypsum board suspended. At the same time, the sheets must be fastened. And what is most interesting, in the end, the sheet should lie on the ceiling surface evenly and beautifully, and the fastening should be reliable.

It is almost impossible to perform such manipulations for one person, therefore even professionals constantly take someone as a partner. If you do not have an assistant and even a worthy candidate for this position, then experts recommend purchasing a special lift drywall. Upon arrival at the specialty store, we recommend that you turn your attention to labels such as Levpano and Roger Mondelin. These are the highest quality and most reliable samples tested in practice.

The main task of the GKL elevator is to lift the drywall to the attachment point. Lifts are most in demand when fixing plasterboard ceilings, since only with their help it is possible to press the drywall sheet to the frame as evenly as possible.

Attention! Plasterboard sheets on the lift can be kept indefinitely, until the moment until you finish the installation of the entire ceiling structure.

As for the height, lifts for gypsum boards are both mechanically and electrically driven, so you can always adjust the lifting height. If you don't have the extra money for a drywall lift, you can build it yourself.

Plasterboard lifts: types and designs

In general, there are several types of lifts. They are classified according to the types of work performed.

Reference! GKL lifts are not only for ceilings, but also for walls.

If we talk about all types briefly, then we get something like the following:

  • wall unit ( from the name it is clear that the device is designed for attaching the gypsum board to vertical surfaces);

  • ceiling lift(designed for attaching gypsum plasterboard to ceiling structures);

  • (suitable for both ceilings and walls).

To ensure maximum production results, each type of lift has its own characteristics and individual operating requirements. Simply put, using the lift in your own way, you will not be able to organize the work process as efficiently as possible, which, in the end, can lead to a breakdown of the unit.

Note! Lifts are made in two ways - at specialized enterprises and handicraft (do it yourself).

Do-it-yourself drywall lift

If you look closely at the drawings, the plasterboard strut lifter does not require any special costs. Let's look at the basic fixtures and materials that we may need in our work:

  • profiled pipes, with the help of which the proper rigidity of the frame is ensured;
  • pipe trims do not need to be thrown out - they will be used to make the legs of the future unit;
  • do not forget about the wheels - with their help it will be much easier to move the structure;
  • if you are a fan of complex structures, then you should stock up on cables and rollers.

Before starting work, you need to get a drawing in advance (see photo). Also, do not forget about the correct calculation of the load on the structure, because an incorrect calculation will lead to a breakdown of the unit.

All components of the structure are fastened to each other with bolts. The role of the lifting mechanism is performed by a mechanical device or an electric motor (this is where the cables come in handy). If you are making a lift with a “manual” drive, then you need to add “legs” to the structure for greater stability.

Retainer making: an alternative to drywall lifter

Not all of us have free time to make a lift. After all, if you work with drywall ceiling structures only once every few years, then you do not need to have a bulky device. As an alternative solution, we suggest paying attention to the retainer.

It is much easier (and faster) to make it and at the same time you will spend as little money as possible.

Here's a quick guide:

  • You will need a long beam (to the height of your ceiling). The horizontal part of the structure and the width must be at least 90 cm. It turns out that two beams form the letter "T". They are fastened with nails, which, when hammered, need to be drowned a little.

  • Now we start making kerchiefs. They are located between the horizontal and vertical parts of the retainer.

Attention! If there is no angle of 90 between the kerchiefs, then the design of your retainer is not suitable for work, since fastening the gypsum board at a slight angle to the ceiling is simply unacceptable.

  • Now that the fit is complete, and everything is in place, we attach the headscarves to the structure with the same nails. The last step is the installation of the retainer at the work site.

At its core, the retainer is an ordinary stand under the gypsum board in a strictly horizontal position. If you are not going to constantly work with drywall, then this design is simply irreplaceable for you!

Conclusion

It turns out that a plasterboard lift consists of only three parts: a chassis, a turntable and a telescopic stand. On average, if you have your own welding machine and locksmith skills, then the final price will be about 3000-4500 rubles (it all depends on the quality of the material used in the construction). As for the assembly time, all work will take about 3-5 days (it all depends on the degree of your employment).

Due to the fact that the textual presentation of the design features of the device will not be clear to everyone, we have prepared a small gift - a thematic video instruction. We wish you success with your inventions!

Why do you need a drywall lift

The laboriousness of working with drywall lies in the inconvenience of lifting the sheets to the installation site, for example, on the ceiling.

But, in addition to the fact that the sheet must be lifted, it is also necessary to fix it in place. And now, having imagined all this "gimmick", some people lose the desire to work with such material. It is for such cases that a special lift for drywall (factory or home-made version), which facilitates the performance of work and provides the ability to carry out installation independently by one person. The lift for the installation of drywall is an excellent solution to speed up and facilitate the process of working with gypsum boards today in private construction.

Varieties of drywall lifts

An industry like construction is thriving and at the pinnacle of its popularity. Therefore, more and more various devices appear on the construction market that perform the function of an auxiliary tool.

So the drywall lift was invented precisely in order to facilitate installation when working with this material. Like other devices, drywall lifters are produced in several versions:

  • wall element designed for the installation of gypsum board;
  • products for ceiling material;
  • structures of a universal type, designed to move the gypsum board throughout the space of the room.

An example of a combined type of plasterboard lift: for the ceiling and for the wall.

Do not forget that when using any device, you must comply with safety rules. Improper use of the attachment may result in worker injury.

Each drywall lift is designed for a specific type of job. And improving the device on your own will not give you the desired result, but it can lead to undesirable consequences.

As an example, you can cite the types of work that can be performed using a ceiling lifting device:

  • lifting and subsequent fixation of the gypsum board in a horizontal position, when installing a continuous suspended ceiling;
  • device (drilling) holes in concrete floors using a perforator;
  • support for the edge of roll-type materials that are not used in the work, the installation of which is carried out on the ceiling.

There is also such a type of device as a drywall frame lifter. It is intended for lifting, installing, fixing and moving plasterboard sheets during horizontal installation work.

Plasterboard lifter: purpose of use

This kind of lifting device for a similar material, such as a strut structure, is used to carry out installation work in the manufacture of ceiling structures.

The device is a variant of a sliding frame, with the help of which the material is lifted from the floor to the required height (up to the ceiling). It is necessary to use such a building element only in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, that is, only for ceiling work.

Another type of lifting device is a material carrying device. It is used for installation work to fix sheets of this type on the wall.

The design of such a device is much simpler. It is this moment that allows you to make such a lift with your own hands using the materials at hand. But in no case should you experiment with such a device, lifting sheets of material to the ceiling.

Homemade drywall lift

As noted above, the construction of the wall lifting device is simple. The factory version of the design, offered for purchase in building markets, is not cheap.

And if you only plan to use it once, then you shouldn't buy the system. If the master regularly carries out repair work using drywall, then this acquisition will only benefit him. The use of the system will quickly pay off, but the implementation of work with such material will be much easier.

In order to save financial resources, you can make a do-it-yourself lift for the gypsum board. All you need to make is a square section tube with sufficient rigidity for the occasion. In the manufacture of a device for the installation of only wall structures, you can do with a dry wooden beam.

The most important thing in making a do-it-yourself lifting device is the exact calculation of the expected load, otherwise it may break.

If your lifting device is intended for working with ceiling structures, then the most logical and correct material option will be a profile pipe. Instead of a lifting mechanism, an electric motor or a mechanical device that does not require a connection to the mains can be used.

The assembly diagram of such a lifting device is simple and does not require professional knowledge or special skills from you, it is suitable for making it yourself. For a more secure attachment of the component parts, steel bolts must be used. They are more suitable than other mounts for the manufacture of such a device and can easily withstand the weight of the material being lifted.

How to lift drywall sheets

Today we will consider special devices for the installation and processing of drywall sheets.

Drywall lifter

When the ceiling is finished, it is very difficult for the master to cope with the work. Lifting fragile and bulky sheets to the ceiling and keeping them high is not an easy task.

Lift strut for drywall- a reliable station for lifting and holding gypsum boards, and other finishing materials, which is used when working with ceilings, laying ventilation ducts and even decorative finishing of ceilings. The device for lifting drywall can be made of aluminum or steel, easily disassembled and assembled, convenient in operation and transportation. A plasterboard lift with a height of 1.4 - 1.6 m can withstand a material weight of up to 60 kg, and a device with a height of 3.5 - 4.5 m - 30-40 kg. Often, such lifts are additionally equipped with holders and clamps.

Basically, a drywall strut lifter can be called a type of jack that is capable of lifting huge sheets of paper to the ceiling. These modern devices allow you to independently, without helpers, mount ceiling structures at a height of up to 4.5 m.

Premos: a convenient option for working with drywall

The Premos lift is a modern device for mounting drywall to the ceiling. The device greatly facilitates the process of mounting sheets, so for many it has already become indispensable.

Premos - the lift is designed to lift sheets to the ceiling with subsequent fixation in a horizontal position during ceiling works with plasterboard.

Tool advantages:

  • The device allows you to install and fix a drywall sheet in any position;
  • Moving drywall sheets from one place to another with the Premos device is no problem;
  • In addition to working with drywall, you can use the device when installing air conditioners, fixing massive chandeliers, arranging ventilation, fixing dimensional equipment.

The lifting height of the Premos device is from 3.2 to 4.2 m, the lifting capacity reaches 100 kg with a total structure weight of 23 kg. The device is convenient both for transportation and operation.

DIY drywall lift

This device can be made by hand. The plasterboard lift consists of four mechanisms, which are assembled separately, finally being combined into a single device.

Construction drawings should include the following elements:

  1. Tripod... 3 - 4 legs are welded to the telescopic tripod attachment for stability. For ease of use, it is better to equip the legs with casters with stoppers.
  2. Telescopic tripod is made of three sections of a profile pipe with a section of 80.60 and 40 mm. The segments are inserted one-to-one like “Matryoshka”, with stubs on one side. At the end of the thinnest pipe, a pivot plane mount is made.
  3. Rotary table. First, an H-shaped frame is cooked with a through bridge in the middle. Retractable T-shaped supports are inserted into the frame hole on both sides to hold a bulky sheet of fragile material.
  4. Winch. This element is easier to purchase than to make with your own hands. An outrigger beam with a brace is used as an attachment for it.

Devices for transferring and fixing drywall, curly cutting and faster installation are constantly being developed and modernized, and therefore, be sure to follow the news on the market.

Accessories for gypsum board: lift (video)

It is not an easy task to hold a sheet of drywall, exposing it to the profiles of the structure, and simultaneously with all this, to manage to fix it. A drywall lift will help to reduce the labor intensity of the process. The device can be purchased or made with a homemade mechanism.

Premos Mechanism: The Famous Drywall Lift

The "Premos" gypsum plasterboard hoist is an analogue of a jack, when used without assistants, the gypsum board is installed. Specifications depending on the model:

  • lifting capacity - up to 100 kg;
  • maximum possible lifting height - up to 4.5 m;
  • nominal height - 3.3 m;
  • dimensions parameters - 1.4-1.5x0.1-0.2x0.1-0.2 m;
  • weight - 12-35 kg.

Application area:

  • for carrying, lifting and fixing sheets;
  • when drilling holes in the ceiling base;
  • when installing on the ceiling of building materials in rolls;
  • instead of a tripod for an electronic laser level;
  • when exposing the frame and facing the gypsum board;
  • when installing massive lighting fixtures;
  • for the installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems.

To make the markings by means of a lift for carrying drywall, you need to raise its bar by installing it on the upper lintel under the ceiling. To avoid falling, the laser device is securely fixed with two clamps.

How to work with the Premos lift

When sheathing the gypsum board, the retractable rod is installed at the very bottom, holding the support frame. Expose the clamps up and place the plasterboard. The support frame is then positioned horizontally and the latches are lowered down to ensure a snug fit. The handle of the rack assembly is used to adjust the lifting height of the drywall. When the sheet reaches the required position, it is pressed and fixed with a retractable bar.

With a wall height of more than 3.5 m, the gypsum board is raised until the bed moves forward at a distance of 1 m, after which the support frame is supported, for example, with a rule or a metal rail. In this case, one edge rests against the floor, and the other against the support frame. Then they are fastened with hardware and raised. Thus, it becomes possible to raise the drywall to a height of more than 4 m.

Various types of devices are available: wall, ceiling and universal. In the latest models, the gypsum board can be mounted vertically and horizontally to the base, as well as at an angle. The plasterboard lifter has a long service life, is easy to maintain, and is reliable in use. It is easy to disassemble and convenient to transport.

How to make a drywall lift with your own hands

A homemade device is made for one-time use, or a reliable device with an electric drive and a winch is made for long-term service. The electric drive is controlled remotely from the remote control. Drywall is a fragile and bulky material, so the mechanism must be reliable, made of durable elements.

To make a do-it-yourself drywall lift, you will need drawings and a calculation of the load on the device. You should also prepare:

  • profiled pipes to ensure the rigidity of the mechanism with parameters 80x80 and 60x60 mm;
  • wheels for ease of movement;
  • electric motor cables;
  • rollers;
  • two beams;
  • metal profile with a section of 20, 30 and 40 mm.

The fixer for carrying drywall consists of elements and assemblies:

  • chassis for extension and installation in the desired position;
  • table - a frame for an H-shaped sheet;
  • telescopic stand with adjustable length, has two knees, allows you to raise drywall to a height;
  • tripod for stability and load movement;
  • the winch, as a rule, is manual, extends and retracts the upper unit of the telescope, is mounted with an extension rail with a brace.

Lift in action

Structural elements for carrying the gypsum board are fastened with hardware (screws or self-tapping screws). The bars are knocked down in a T-shape with nails, then the kerchiefs are attached (the angle between the kerchiefs is 90 degrees). Holes are made in the pipes for the passage of the winch.

For curly cutting of drywall, a specialized cutter is used to obtain holes from 15 to 40 cm. For small holes, ring drill bits are used.

Manufacturing of a chassis for a lift

Sliding legs are made from a metal profile, with one of the three legs being welded. The other two legs are swivel, mounted to the pipe profile, which will act as a central post. All three legs are equipped with a wheel with a stopper.

The profiled pipe 60x60 mm is extended so that a telescopic stand of the device for carrying drywall is installed on it. The resulting structure is welded to the B-pillar.

The telescopic part can be round or square and consists of three components:

  • bed - the main stand with a drum winch;
  • middle rack;
  • small stand.

Plugs are placed on one side of the small rack. The frame elements are installed one into the other. They are pulled out with a winch, cable and rollers. For convenience, the winch guides are foldable.

Lift table

The main structural detail of the device for carrying the gypsum board is the table. It is made from a profile with a cross section of 30 mm. Two pieces of the profile are welded, two pieces are attached to them transversely to the hardware. In order to be able to adjust the length of the drywall sheet, a profile with a section of 20 mm is inserted into the axial element of the table, to which segments with a section of 30 mm are attached. The entire structure of the mechanism table is mounted by a pivot assembly to a small rack.

Faster installation and ease of portability of the material are achieved by upgrading the device:

  • Lifts are made with a detachable cargo platform, which makes it possible to carry and lift not only solid plasterboard sheets, but also its strips or segments.
  • To increase the speed of lifting the table, a steel pipe insert increases the diameter of the winch drum. Thanks to this manipulation, the rope is wound in fewer rows.

Make a lift for drywall do it yourself is much more profitable than buying or renting.

Types of drywall lifts and methods of use

Spacer for drywall is useful in the following cases:
