Small bathroom interior with shower. Bathroom with shower cabin design: modern bathroom design photo

In modern homes, it is more likely to find a bathroom interior without a bathtub, but not without a shower cabin of one or another modification. The fast pace of life, high prices for water tariffs, and often modest utilitarian spaces are pushing most apartment and private home owners to equip showers in addition to a bath or as an alternative. Most of us choose quick but frequent water showers instead of long relaxation in the bath. Whatever the reasons for installing a portable hydrobox or organizing a shower area, it is obvious that the modern homeowner will have to solve many dilemmas in order to implement their plans. The choice of models, finishes and content of this functional segment is incredibly wide. We invite you to take a closer look at the possibility of creating a comfortable, multifunctional, aesthetic and practical shower area using the example of our extensive selection of bathroom design projects.

Methods for organizing a shower cabin in a bathroom interior

Globally speaking, there are two options for organizing a shower area in the bathroom - installing a ready-made booth with all the accessories and installing a segment for taking water procedures using partitions, doors and curtains. And in fact, and in another case, there are many options for execution, methods of filling the shower cabin with accessories and fixtures, the choice of color palette, method of execution of glass partitions and curtains.

If we talk about purchasing a ready-made shower stall, then its choice will depend on the following parameters:

  • the dimensions of the bathroom in general and the place for installing the booth in particular (there are many compact models with pallet parameters from 80x80 cm);
  • pallet height - someone uses the booth exclusively for taking a shower, others need to bathe the child in the pallet or be able to fully or partially relax, "soak" within the hydrobox;
  • choice of functions of a shower cubicle - for some it is enough to have a shower head, while others need a hydromassage, a "tropical shower" and even a Turkish bath or Finnish sauna in their shower sector;
  • purchase budget - the cost of shower stalls can differ significantly (depending on the manufacturer, set of options, sizes and materials of execution).

Ready-made booths can have various pallet shapes and corresponding walls. The lower part in section can be a square, a rectangle, a sector (two perpendicular sides are connected by an arc), a pentagon, a circle and a polygon.

In addition to differences in size, filling and design, all shower cabins are divided into open and closed. Open structures do not have a roof and are cheaper, closed ones are equipped with an upper wall, in the cavity of which ventilation and a lighting system are built (in some models there is radio communication and a landline telephone line is connected). In terms of tightness and retention of heat and moisture within the shower enclosure, closed models are the undisputed leaders. But for some, the very idea that they will be inside a small enclosed space is unpleasant. Therefore (and due to the lower cost) open models are no less popular.

Shower area design options

Let's consider in more detail the options for creating a shower area within the framework of utilitarian premises of various shapes and sizes. The advantage of this approach is that you can form a shower segment in any area, even in the smallest room in terms of area, with complex geometry or other architectural imperfections. It is possible to organize shower zones in the attic room with a large bevel of the ceiling, in a niche or corner of the bathroom with small dimensions.

One of the simplest and most obvious ways to create a shower cubicle in a bathroom is to fit it into a corner of the room. You already have two walls, all that remains is to put the partition and hang the door (or a couple of curtains, depending on the size). Most often, designers and their customers choose transparent glass as a material for partitions and doors. Tempered glass is a safe and durable material that is resistant to mechanical damage. The glass has a special film that prevents it from falling into fragments, even if broken. While breaking such a thick glass will not be easy, there is no risk of being cut by fragments either way.

The advantages of making two of the four walls of a shower room made of clear glass are obvious - you do not need to conduct lighting inside the shower area, just common light sources. The design itself turns out to be transparent, very light - even in a small-sized room, such a booth does not overload the space, but as if it dissolves in it.

In some cases (it all depends on the size and layout of the utilitarian room) it is more convenient to create a booth from two glass walls and doors, while only the back wall of the booth belongs to the bathroom.

The glass of the shower stall can be painted, tinted, have a drawing made by laser engraving. Modern photo printing allows you to apply any print to any surface, including glass. A pattern or tone can be applied both to the entire glass surface, or partially, highlighting the desired area.

Some apartment and house owners prefer to use frosted glass to create partitions and doors in the shower stall. This technique is especially relevant for large families with a combined bathroom - while one of the household is taking a shower, someone can perform sanitary and hygienic procedures and not violate privacy.

From the point of view of the way of opening the doors in the booth, all hydroboxes are divided into sliding and hinged. Hinged doors are easier and cheaper to implement, but require more installation space.

Sliding structures are suitable for bathrooms with a shortage of usable space - you do not need free space to open them, only the ability to approach the booth.

The decoration of the shower stall should be done with materials that are highly resistant to moisture, temperature extremes, the formation of mold and mildew, and mechanical damage. Obviously, a small number of materials meet all these requirements, and the most popular of them are ceramic tiles and mosaics. Affordable (compared to glass tiles, for example), with a huge assortment of colors and textures, practical, easy to clean and use, ceramic tiles have long become the undisputed favorite in the field of decorating shower areas.

The disadvantages of using ceramics for cladding the surfaces of the shower cabin can be attributed only to the need to contact specialists and the rather high cost of installation. Another unpleasant moment is the susceptibility of tile joints to the emergence and spread of mold. If on the surface of the tile itself such a risk is practically excluded, but the space between the dies is an ideal place for the occurrence of plaque and blackening. But periodic antiseptic treatment and grout freshening can solve this problem.

The fewer the tile joints, the smaller the surface for treatment with antiseptics. Perhaps, guided by this rule, designers are increasingly offering large-sized tiles as the material for the cladding of shower cabins. Based on this logic, mosaic becomes the most difficult finishing material in terms of maintenance. But mosaic tiles have one indisputable advantage that makes many homeowners choose this method of finishing - they can be faced with absolutely any surface, with rounds, recesses, niches and arches. In addition, the mosaic can be glued to any material - from concrete and wood to acrylic and glass.

With the help of mosaics, it is not easy to diversify the monochromatic design of ceramic tile cladding, but also to draw up picturesque drawings, visually increase the height or width of the shower area with the help of decorative inserts, and create a color accent.

Shower stalls with a deep tray are also capable of performing the functions of a bath. At least while sitting in such a place for receiving water procedures, you can sit comfortably.

Shower cubicle filling - versatility, practicality and durability

Long gone are the days when there was only a shower in the shower area. The possibilities of modern plumbing and additions to it appear in such a variety that you can get confused. So what, besides the usual shower head, can the shower area offer us?

Tropical shower option. A similar function is carried out through the use of a special large-sized watering can with many holes. The stream of water is not supplied in trickles, as in an ordinary watering can, but is sprayed into many tiny drops that envelop the body, as if you are really in the tropics in the rain. The procedure has a healing and relaxing effect. Often, models of large watering cans are equipped with illumination and then the effect of color therapy is added to the hydrotherapy (depending on the desired effect, the shade of the illumination is selected).

Hydromassage. The hydromassage effect is achieved with the help of several nozzles (from four to twelve), arranged vertically in two rows. The water from the nozzles can be discharged at different levels of intensity. The jets are located at different levels - for hydromassage of the cervical spine, back, lower back and even legs. The healing properties of a hydromassage are obvious and being able to enjoy spa treatments in your own bathroom is worth the investment in the installation of hydromassage equipment.

Shower panel. The device looks like a panel equipped with a large watering can (possibly with a "tropical rain" function), as well as hydromassage jets. The panel also contains a regulator of the intensity and temperature of the water flow, it may contain the functions of turning on the backlight, radio.

Accessories for water procedures can be used not only for their intended purpose, but also as decorative elements. It is impossible to surprise anyone with the glitter of chrome-plated parts, so black accessories can be used as an accent, effectively standing out against the light background of the finish….

In classic interiors, in bathrooms decorated in vintage or shabby chic style, you can use antique accessories ...

In the Baroque or Rococo style, classic and neo-classic, it is appropriate to use accessories with a golden coating ...

The ready-made shower cabins can be equipped with the possibility of arranging a steam room effect. Functions of a Russian or Turkish bath, Finnish sauna (depending on the level of humidity), as a rule, are present in double cabins - one part for a steam room, the other for water procedures. But there are also models in which all the options are in one fairly spacious design.

In addition to various accessories for organizing certain types of water procedures, the shower stall can be equipped with storage systems. Most often, open shelves or niches are used for storing bath accessories. Also, the shower stall can be equipped with a mirror - important for men who prefer to shave in the shower.

The level of comfort of the shower stall will increase the seating position. This can be either a small bench or any other portable device, or a stationary place that is lined with bricks or other material and tiled or mosaic. This element of shower equipment is especially relevant for families with elderly people. For convenience, a handrail can be mounted near the seating position - it will be much easier to climb.

Spacious showers can be equipped with a couple of sets of necessary accessories for showers and other water treatments. In this case, shower heads or panels are located along the longest wall, taking into account the distance for a comfortable stay under the shower for two people.

Shower cubicle in the bathroom interior

Bathrooms with shower cabins equipped in them are gaining more and more popularity in recent years.

It is not so important whether you live in a private house or in an apartment - you can install and stylishly arrange a shower in almost any room. The only difference is the size of the bathroom.

With private houses, everything is simple - a spacious room allows you to embody many design ideas, correctly arrange equipment and accessories.

In apartments of multi-storey buildings, as a rule, bathrooms are small in size - you will not find a separate bathroom there so often.

But what about the owners of small apartments who want to design a bathroom with a shower in accordance with the latest fashion trends? You will learn the answer to this question from this article.

Shower cubicle for the bathroom - we choose the right one!

While preparing the room for the installation of a shower stall in the bathroom, you probably already managed to look after several interesting models.

However, there is no need to hurry with the purchase - a hastily purchased booth may simply not fit in size for your bathroom. Therefore, first you should take measurements of the place where you plan to install it, with an accuracy of a millimeter.

The next step is to choose a shower stall for the bathroom. They are different in color, shape, material from which the frame and pallet are made - these are all very important points that cannot be ignored.

Not only the appearance of the entire bathroom depends on the selected characteristics, but also the amount of money spent. We will cover two main types of constructs:

Open showers. This design consists only of a pallet and side walls. The cab is not equipped with any special functions - they are simply not needed here. This is the most common shower enclosure mounted on the wall with the front walls.

Closed shower cabins. This design is more perfect, has a deep pallet and a roof, protected from all sides by walls. Often, such boxes are multifunctional, they can have a rectangular, round or triangular shape.

Compact and stylish design options for a bathtub with a shower stall

In confined spaces, all items and elements used should be as compact and mobile as possible.

Take on board a few ideas for the optimal placement of a shower stall in a small bathroom:

Combined bathroom equipped in a minimal space. Usually, such a small area of the room is reserved only for the bathroom.

However, if you approach the issue professionally, even a small room will fit everything you need. To achieve this result, you should choose the most simple shower stall, without the presence of additional parts or specific functions in it.

The pallet should be shallow and the walls transparent. Otherwise, the impression of a congestion of space may appear. A mirror placed opposite the booth will benefit the small space - it will make it visually wider.

Expansion of the room with the correct combination of toilet and bathroom. The most effective way to increase the space is to make one of the two rooms. The wall that previously divided the bathroom will become an excellent partition in the newly formed room, if you do not demolish it completely.

In the design of such a bathroom, I often use warm colors. To add originality to the interior, you can apply several shades of the same color.

The shower cabin can be installed in the most ordinary way - maximizing the preservation of free space in such a room is much more important than the additional functions of the cabin. Give preference to smooth transitions and rounded shapes - this will significantly soften the interior.

Bathroom in light cold colors. Such a room may not seem very nice at first glance, but even it has its own flavor and design idea.

Walls, floors and ceilings in gray, white and beige are a sign of austere and formal style. You won't find home comfort in such a bathroom, but it shouldn't be here.

Such an interior speaks of the neatness and efficiency of the owner of the house. One of the undoubted advantages of this design option is the ability to choose and install a large shower stall that has a number of additional functions.

Shower cubicle in the interior of the "Khrushchev" type bathroom. The room reserved for the bathroom in the old Khrushchev apartments does not differ in large dimensions, but even it can be optimized and decorated, taking into account the wishes of the owners.

A shower cabin in such a room will take up most of the space. Therefore, for decoration and decor, you should choose light colors - they will visually increase the footage of the bathroom and it will not seem too cluttered. Semicircular frosted doors of the shower stall will cover part of the wall, due to which the room will appear larger.

Small but stylish bathroom with shower. Probably, it seems to you that the small dimensions of the room will not allow you to embody the modern design of a bathroom with a shower stall you like? Remember - competent zoning of space just works wonders!

The shower cubicle located in the corner does not take up much space, which means that the remaining area can be used to accommodate a bedside table, towel holders, and even to install a washing machine.

Ceramic tiles in two contrasting shades can be used for wall decoration. Such a technique will certainly attract the eye and become a kind of highlight of the interior.

How the shower cabin can surprise us

Enclosed showers are almost always equipped with several additional features. Among them are:

  • Backlighting (creates an intimacy of the atmosphere, allowing you not to use the main lighting in the bathroom, can have a chromotherapy effect);
  • Aromatherapy (the booth is filled with your favorite aromas);
  • Heavy rain (jets of water of incredible power pass through a special nozzle);
  • Contrast shower (frequent changes in temperature conditions energize and have a positive effect on labor activity);
  • Sauna (humidity in the cabin rises to the maximum, and the temperature ranges from 40 to 60 degrees)

As you can see, if you professionally approach the creation of an interior in a bathroom, then it will fit not only a shower cabin, but also many other important little things.

Your favorite design of a modern shower room will serve you longer if you take the time to properly prepare the room and think over all the details in advance.

Listening to our advice, you will receive a comfortable and incredibly stylish space, where you can bask in the hot tub and enjoy an invigorating shower.

Photo of a bathroom with a shower

A bathroom is a place in an apartment where renovations should be as functional as possible. The main reason is the limited space in the room. But you need to fit a lot of things into it. Therefore, in most cases, you have to save space and one of the good options is to install a shower in the bathroom. At a minimum, this will free up an extra square meter.

Any renovation should start with a design project. This is especially true for the bathroom. Given that these rooms are usually small in space, any mistake during the design phase will backfire. Therefore, it is advisable to calculate in advance the layout of furniture and plumbing.

What a bathroom project should include:

  • size and arrangement of equipment;
  • wiring of communications;
  • materials and colors for finishing.

Thus, by spending a few days of time, you can negate the possibility of making mistakes.

One of the pressing issues faced by the owners of small-sized apartments is the too small area of the toilet and bathroom. There are two main ways to increase it at least a little:

  1. Combine a bathroom with a toilet. In fact, this will add little to the usable area, but the room itself will turn out to be large. And this will allow you to more compactly arrange the plumbing and visually increase the size of the room;
  2. Another option is to dismantle the bathroom and replace it with a shower. A shower cubicle in a small bathroom would be a great alternative. And you can wash yourself and the space will be saved.

Most apartment owners use both options. Thus, a combined bathroom with a shower stall is obtained.

Types of shower cabins

Do not think that the shower is something limited. On the contrary, modern models delight with a variety of shapes and designs. Plus, they're pretty functional. So a bathroom with a shower is a good option for a modern apartment.

The use of a shower in the bathroom brings certain nuances to the design and renovation of a room. What should be done:

  • determine the exact installation site;
  • choose an open or closed model;
  • make a project for wiring communications;
  • think over waterproofing.

You also need to immediately decide on the exact size and appearance of the model. This will allow you to create a pleasant bathroom design with a shower stall without any problems.

Geometric shapes and sizes of cabins

In shape, the cabins are:

  • square;
  • rectangular;
  • round;
  • irregular shape;
  • angular, i.e. made in the form of a sector of a circle.

Thus, the interior of a bathroom with a shower will not be limited by anything. And of particular interest for owners of small bathrooms are corner models. Thanks to their shape, they fit easily into corners and look more than compact.

Main dimensions:

  • 80 by 80 cm;
  • 90 by 90 cm;
  • 120 by 120 cm.

The size, as well as the shape, must be chosen based on the dimensions and general design of the room. For example, the most popular size of a shower cabin for small bathrooms is 80 * 80. It is quite enough for washing, and at the same time, the dimensions are very small, i.e. the area will be used to the maximum.

Cab door material

When choosing a cab, you need to immediately pay attention to the opening mechanism of the flaps. For a small bathroom with a shower, sliding doors are better suited. Because swing doors will take up extra space when opening. And besides, if in the open position, the doors will rest against something, there is a high probability of breaking them.

The doors themselves are made of plastic or glass. Naturally, both options have their advantages.

Pros of glass:

  • resistant to damage and scratches;
  • the material is made hardened and safe, if suddenly the door breaks, it breaks up into small fragments without sharp edges;
  • durable, does not lose its appearance and does not cloud over time.

Disadvantages: in comparison with plastic, it turns out to be more expensive.

Advantages of plastic doors:

  • inexpensive material;
  • wide range of colors and textures;
  • a light weight.

Disadvantages: Over time, it may begin to crack and grow cloudy.

By color, both glass and plastic can be:

  • with texture;
  • matte;
  • transparent.

Transparent glass doors, especially installed on a low pallet, create an excellent visual effect. Due to the absence of a background, the design of a bathroom with a glass shower stall is very light.

Open or closed

All shower cabins are divided into two large groups:

  1. Closed,
  2. Open.

Open cabins have only two or three of their own front walls. The role of the rear is taken over by the bathroom. Therefore, you need to think in advance how to install an open type shower cabin.

All models have no ceiling and less functionality than closed models. In general, they belong to the budget class, so it makes no sense to expect anything special from them. Their main task is to equip a place where you can wash.

But the main disadvantage is poor sealing. Water can spill onto the floor and flow under the drip tray. Therefore, it is better not to use them in apartments of multi-storey buildings. And if, nevertheless, the bathroom will be equipped with an open-type shower stall, then you need to make a thorough waterproofing of the floors.

On the other hand, open models can be installed on a low pallet, or without it at all. Thus, the design of a bathroom with a shower stall can be made very original. Since you don't have to put up with a bulky pallet.

The closed type has a ceiling and walls on all sides. They are also called boxes. In general, this is the best option, because can be installed anywhere. And besides, the boxes are much more functional than open cabins.

Usually, the following options are available for them:

  • hydromassage;
  • bath mode;
  • ventilation of the cabin;
  • different shower modes, such as contrast or tropical.

However, the design of a small bathroom will have to be tied to the box. despite its compact size, it is more bulky than open models.

Individual design

The design of a bathroom with a shower can be made completely individual, without reference to the models on sale. It is very simple to implement - just lay out the shower screen. Thus, the combined bathroom is easily zoned.

One of the best options for a partition will be the use of glass blocks. With their help, you can get a visually light wall. Another way is to lay out the wall with bricks and tile it.

There are two options for how to make a shower:

  • Use a ready-made pallet. In this case, it is better to buy a tall model.
  • Make the pallet yourself. In this case, it is necessary to provide for good waterproofing and lay pipes for draining water.

A move with a partition will be a good solution for a small bathroom. After all, a separate shower cabin will still take up more usable space.

What are the pallets

One of the main components of any cab is a pallet. Their most important characteristic is depth. They are:

  • with a depth of up to 45 cm;
  • medium - with a depth of up to 20 cm.

There are options with a practically flat pallet, its height is only 2-3 cm. The use of such models is not very practical - water will splash out.

In addition to the height, the bases are made of different materials. This could be:

  • acrylic is one of the most popular types. These pallets are lightweight, practical, scratch-resistant and durable;
  • cast iron - reliable and durable products. Of the minuses - they have a lot of weight;
  • steel - inexpensive enamelled pallets. Of the minuses - they easily scratch and create a high acoustic noise from the shower.

If a designer renovation is being done in the bathroom, then you can easily make a pallet according to an individual layout. Most often, the podium is laid out of bricks, then waterproofing is done and it is lined with ceramic tiles.

Materials for finishing the bathroom

Despite the abundance of finishing materials on the modern market, not all of them can be used to repair bathrooms. Bathrooms are rooms with a high level of humidity, therefore, the following requirements are imposed on finishing materials:

  • high moisture resistance;
  • the material should not absorb moisture and tolerate direct contact with water without problems;
  • be durable and easy to clean.

Therefore, for finishing the bath and shower, the following is most often used:

  • ceramic tile;
  • mosaic;
  • porcelain stoneware;
  • decorative painting.

These materials fulfill all requirements and allow for great design in bathrooms.

Thus, when making repairs in the bathroom, you can safely install a shower cubicle. The premises will only benefit from this. Moreover, a wide variety of ready-made models, as well as the ability to make a shower completely individual, can satisfy any design delights.

How to decorate a bathroom with a shower cabin installed in it? This question often arises both for owners of private houses and for residents of standard city apartments. But in your own home, the bathrooms are usually spacious, and therefore it is much easier to arrange all the necessary accessories in them than in a cramped combined bathroom, as well as to come up with a design and finish. Unfortunately, on the Internet, you can most often find sketches and designs for premises, the vast area of which remains a pipe dream for most apartment owners.

A small one with a shower cabin for which it is much more difficult to come up with a design is almost not discussed. And after all, various engineering communications also pass through this room, requiring a certain masking, which also complicates the design process.

It is about bathrooms with a shower stall, organized in small areas, about the possible difficulties of their design, taking into account certain nuances, will be discussed in this publication.

Preparatory work

In order for the finished, fully equipped with all the necessary accessories and finished bathroom to look as originally intended by the owners, preparatory measures will have to be carried out that will streamline all further stages of work.

Drafting a project

First of all, a project is being drawn up for the bathroom, in which the bathtub will be replaced with a shower cabin. Usually, this process aims to make the room more spacious or combine a bathroom with a toilet, so that, due to this, if possible, even expand the kitchen or hallway, depending on the layout of the apartment.

The main design task is to be able to accommodate everything you need in a limited area.

When developing a preliminary project, you need to remember that it may well be necessary to make adjustments in the future, after all the communication pipes have been opened. Masking boxes may be added to the sketch, since, depending on the project, it becomes necessary to transfer and lengthen water and sewer pipes.

Room preparation

Having thought over and executed on paper an approximate "layout" of the arrangement of all objects, you can proceed to the next stage of work. It can be carried out in different ways:

  • Dismantling of all old bathroom accessories.
  • Dismantling the partition between the bathroom and the toilet, if it is decided to combine them into one room. This process should be carried out only after agreement with the regulatory authorities.

Further, after dismantling all the elements, you need to get rid of debris and clean the walls and floor of dust well. If the walls are tiled or finished with other decorative materials, they must also be removed immediately.

If it is decided not to move the toilet, but to leave it in the same place, then it is recommended to dismantle it last. If you can live without a bathroom for some time, then it will be much more difficult to do without a toilet.

Planning and installation of engineering communications

When the room is free of everything superfluous and unnecessary, it becomes possible to freely inspect the condition of the old pipes and, based on the bathroom project, think over how best to lay out the pipes by making the appropriate drawing.

If the repair is carried out only in the bathroom, and the sewer riser remains in the toilet, then it is recommended to hide the plumbing and drain pipes in the walls. For this, grooves are cut into which communications are mounted - this will also help to save part of the area.

In addition, it is recommended to lead at least one outlet to the bathroom, since very often this element is not enough to turn on the hair dryer. It may also be needed for a washing machine if it is planned to be installed in this room. The electric cable also needs to be hidden in the wall, having previously enclosed it in a corrugated tube, and the outlet itself must be purchased with a special one, with increased moisture resistance.

After carrying out all pipes and cables, the grooves are sealed with cement-sand or gypsum plaster mortar.

If the bathroom is combined, then all water and sewer communications are usually reduced and compactly mounted near the central sewer riser. It will still not be possible to transfer it, so that the entire communication node can be disguised at once with a drywall box.

Particular attention is paid to the method of connecting the shower stall itself to the sewer riser. Some pallets have a very low location of the drain pipe, so to connect it to the drain pipe, you will either have to bury it in the floor, or raise the booth itself to the required height. Raise the pallet using special adjustable legs, or lay out a brick pedestal, on which the shower stall is installed.

If the bathroom is combined and a shower cabin is installed instead of the bathroom, then some people prefer not to mount a box, which can spoil the interior design, but to install a masking wall from drywall with an elegant shutter door. This option is especially suitable when, when combining the bathroom and toilet, the central sewer pipe is in the middle of the rear wall of the room.

It is necessary to leave a viewing window - for free access of utility workers to pipes, valves and meters. Well, the elegant door will cover all the interweaving of pipes, so the door must be selected last, to all available finishes.

It is also necessary to take into account the fact that the inspection window must open freely, which means that it cannot be obstructed by any bathroom accessory.

In order to create such a wall or box, you will need to purchase a special galvanized metal profile and moisture-resistant drywall.

It is recommended that before starting the installation of the frame, you need to think carefully, and best of all, even draw the location of each of its elements so that the structure is solid, and the window for access to the pipes is of sufficient size and is in a convenient place.

Waterproofing bathroom surfaces

Even before installing the masking box, after sealing the strobes and removing debris from the room, the floor must be covered with waterproofing. This must be done especially carefully around all pipes of any purpose (pass-through sleeves) passing through the ceilings.

Pay particular attention to waterproofing - corners and pipe passages

It is very important to waterproof well the joints of the walls and the floor, covering the walls with the composition to a height of not less than 120 ÷ 150 mm, and in the places where plumbing fixtures are installed, even above the level of the connection points (plumbing "sockets"). In these places, a special sealing tape must be glued, and only after these strips have dried, it is necessary to cover the entire floor surface with a waterproofing compound.

The future bathroom is fully waterproofed

Waterproofing will save apartment owners from unnecessary troubles in the event of an emergency, from which, alas, it is impossible to fully insure themselves. Water spilled on the floor surface will not leak to neighbors living on the lower floors. To prevent water from leaving the bathroom, the door must be equipped with a threshold, which also needs to be waterproofed.

Waterproofing the bathroom floor is the most important stage in the renovation!

There are several types of materials used for this purpose. A special publication of our portal will help you to understand their variety, choose the most optimal and get acquainted with the main technological methods of conducting.

How to approach the choice of a shower stall

Having prepared the room for the installation of all the necessary accessories, you can start choosing the purchase of a shower stall. In order not to be mistaken with the dimensions, you must first take accurate measurements from the area where the cabin is planned for installation, and accurately determine the area that can be allocated for it.

Moreover, if you plan to purchase a booth, even having an almost triangular shape in plan with a small semicircular ledge, then you should still take a square as a basis. The model that you like in the store should also be measured there from all sides in order to transfer these dimensions at home to the place for installing the cab.

Currently, the range of specialty stores includes various shower stalls - from the simplest to those equipped with numerous additional options. Naturally, their cost also varies widely. In addition, they can be of different types, shapes, made from different materials.

Showers are generally divided into two types according to their basic design - open and closed. What they are - it should be of interest in the first place.

Shower cabins of an open type

Showers are called open, which are limited by side walls, but do not have a ceiling.

There can be two or three walls in the booths of open models; they can be installed in the front of the structure and against the walls. In addition, there are options that have only front walls, which are fixed to a frame installed on the wall.

Such cab models are considered economy class products, since they are mainly equipped with only a basic set of functions. They are often also called "shower corners". Cabins that do not have back walls require reinforced sealing at the junction of the pallet with the wall, the same as when installing a conventional bath.

The absence of some additional functions is also explained by the fact that they will be useless in this type of construction, since it does not have a ceiling, and, for example, "aromatherapy" or "sauna" will be effective only in a closed space.

Open cabins are produced that can be installed without a pallet, but such models should still not be installed in high-rise apartments, since even if high-quality waterproofing is done, there is a possibility of flooding of the apartments on the lower floors.

In addition, the floor will have to be raised with a screed by at least 70 ÷ 80 mm in order to lay a drain pipe in this layer and mount a drain. Such a screed, even without taking into account the necessary finishing of the floor, will significantly make the floor structure heavier, which can be extremely dangerous, especially for old houses.

It is undesirable to purchase a booth with a pallet with low sides, as this can also lead to flooding of the lower floors.

The only thing that can fix the situation (except for the screed) is to install the pallet in a well-waterproofed podium, which is usually made of bricks. It already has the ability to hide the drain pipe, and take it to the sewer, observing a mandatory slope of 2 - 3 degrees.

Such options are best used for bathrooms of private houses, when the water from the pallet is immediately drained into the sewer pipe.

Closed cabins

The closed type of shower cabins is also called boxes. They differ from shower enclosures in that they have a tray, walls on all sides and a roof. Such cabins-boxes can be equipped only with the main function - a shower, or they can be multifunctional.

They are given a variety of shapes - in plan they can be a rectangle, circle, semicircle, triangle, etc. Their dimensions along the perimeter or diameter depend on the parameters of the pallets, which, in turn, can also differ in height and in the material of manufacture.

Bathtub with shower

Another option that will take up little more space in the room than a regular bath. This is a whole complex that allows you to lie down in hot water and relax or invigorate with the help of a shower.

"Symbiosis" of a bath and a shower stall

Such a compact accessory is produced in different variations, and can be equipped only with a shower or have many other functions, including original lighting and even the ability to listen to music.

Sometimes such a cabin can have a rectangular shape, like a regular bath. There are also corner options, but they will require more space than a standard accessory.

Homemade showers

Such a shower cabin can be built by the owner of the apartment himself, but it would still be better to buy a ready-made pallet. Of course, you can fold it yourself, but you should not load the floor - it is enough to make a podium around the perimeter of bricks.

Two walls or one, as planned by the designer, can be folded from bricks and tiled or erected from glass blocks.

The size of a homemade shower stall will depend on which pallet is suitable for a particular room.

On sale you can find glass blocks that have a different color and textured pattern, so you can pick them up for every taste. These elements are also mounted quite easily - the main thing is to constantly monitor the verticality of the masonry.

The case is small - to build a partition

Mounting walls in a bathroom is almost the same as erecting partitions from different materials, including glass blocks. How - read in a special publication of the portal.

Shower trays

As mentioned above, the pallet defines the shape of the shower stall. It can be square, rectangular, triangular, oval, or asymmetrical. Another defining parameter of this element in the design of the booth is depth. Pallets can be deep - up to 450 mm, shallow - from 100 to 180 mm, and flat, only 30 mm deep.

Usually pallets are equipped with anti-slip embossed coating. They are selected according to the color, which should be in perfect harmony with all the accessories of the booth or with the colors of the interior decoration of the walls, floor and ceiling.

Pallets are made of different materials - it can be cast iron, steel or acrylic.

  • Cast iron enameled pallets are highly reliable and can be installed on a steel frame or a brick podium. They are perfect for homemade showers.

  • Steel pallets are also covered with enamel, but they are less durable, as they have thin walls. When installed on a frame or an empty podium inside while showering, the sound of falling water will be very loud. Therefore, in such cases, it is recommended to cover the back of the pallet with polyurethane foam, which will create a sound-absorbing layer. Steel pallets are less durable than cast iron ones, but with careful handling they will last at least 10 ÷ 12 years.

Steel pallets are inexpensive and quite practical with careful maintenance
  • Acrylic pallets have recently become the most popular, as this material is characterized by good hygiene, pleasant and warm enough to the touch. The acrylic pallet is lightweight and strong enough when properly installed. When scratches appear on it, they are easily rubbed with fine-grain sandpaper.

The shallow pallet is mounted in a special frame. If this option is chosen for a homemade shower cabin, then for it, exactly in the shape of the bottom, it is necessary to install a podium.

Some pallets can also be used as a shallow bath. In such varieties, it will be necessary to install a "drain-overflow" system.

  • You can also build a homemade pallet, if it is small along the perimeter and in height, that is, it will not overload the floor. It is recommended to use mosaic tiles for cladding, as they will create a non-slip surface.

When embedding a sewer pipe in a homemade pallet, it must be remembered that it must be located at a slope of at least 2 ÷ 3 degrees.

Shower walls and doors

These protective elements of the shower enclosure are made of impact-resistant glass or acrylic. Acrylic walls and doors can have different degrees of transparency and vary in color, but glass is easier to clean, since water does not linger on it and drains quickly without leaving traces. In addition, it does not cloud over time, unlike transparent acrylic panels.

Doors in the shower cabin can be hinged or sliding, consisting of two or four leaves. The sliding door type has a higher degree of tightness in the closed position. The doors move with rollers and do not require additional space to open them.

Prices for popular showers

When choosing a booth with a swing door design, you will need to think in advance about the installation of other accessories in the bathroom, since they should not interfere with the doors, otherwise they can be accidentally damaged.

Additional functions of shower cabins

A few words must be said about the additional functions of shower cabins, since some of them are also reflected in the interior design.

  • Backlight. The finished shower cabin can be equipped with lighting, which is carried out using special waterproof lighting fixtures. This feature allows you to shower without turning on the main bathroom lighting. In addition, specially thought out lighting has a therapeutic effect on a person's condition (in medicine, this concept is called chromotherapy).

At the same time, the illumination can come not only from the walls and ceiling of the cabin, but the streams of water coming out of the shower head are also colored with color. The colors can be changed using the remote control, depending on the mood and on which body system is to be affected.

  • Aromatherapy. This function allows you to fill the booth with aromas with healing effects. For this effect, steam and water are passed through a chamber filled with aromatic balsam. The aromatherapy function can only be installed in closed cabins, otherwise the desired effect will not be achieved.
  • Rain shower. This function simulates pouring rain, and this effect is achieved using a nozzle specially installed in the cab ceiling. "Tropical shower" relaxes well the muscular and nervous systems, so it is recommended to take it before bedtime.

The tropical rain shower head is usually installed in the roof of the shower stall
  • Cold and hot shower. This function has the opposite direction: if an outdoor shower relaxes, then a contrast one will invigorate and increase efficiency. During the adoption of procedures, alternating supply of cold and hot water occurs automatically in a predetermined temperature range.
  • Hydromassage. Hydromassage devices can be horizontal and vertical. The horizontal whirlpool tub can be installed in a deep tray, which is essentially a whirlpool tub.

Vertical hydromassage is called one for which nozzles supplying air and water flows are installed on the side walls of the cabin. The quality and variety of massage functions available depends on the number and location of the nozzles. Hydromassage can improve your well-being, normalize blood circulation and have a positive effect on bowel function.

  • Turkish sauna. If this function is provided in the booth, then inside it you can create a special microclimate with 100% humidity at a temperature of 40 ÷ 60 degrees. This option is achieved with a steam generator that generates and disperses steam inside the cabin.

It should be noted that in order to achieve the effect of the hydromassage function and create a microclimate for a Turkish bath, the pressure in the water pipes must be no less than 2 ÷ 3 bar.

In addition to these functions, such as voice control, music accompaniment, detergent dispensers and much more can be installed in shower cabins.

When purchasing a shower cabin with an abundance of various functions, you need to immediately count on high energy consumption. The connection of the cabin to electricity must be carried out with a separate cable, which must be grounded, so you should invite a specialist to install and connect.

Can you install a shower stall yourself?

Practice shows that this is a rather difficult, but still quite feasible task. Tips for this are given in an article specially devoted to this issue on our portal.

Bathroom decoration

The surfaces of the bathroom with a shower cabin installed in it are most often tiled with ceramic tiles, since this material is ideal for this room. However, there are other options as well.

Wall decoration with plastic panels

The range of PVC panels is very diverse

They are perfect for decorating walls in the bathroom, which can be found in a large assortment in hardware stores. An important condition for their installation is the maximum possible evenness of the wall surfaces. This is especially necessary if the bathroom is very small and the installation will have to be done with glue.

The advantage of choosing plastic panels is that they are more affordable and any novice master can carry out their installation, and this is especially important to save money, which is already quite a lot during the repair.

An important condition for the quality of installation of this material is the tight connection of the panels to each other and thorough sealing of all joints.

The most "budgetary" option for wall decoration in the bathroom - PVC panels

When buying high-quality panels and observing the technology of their installation, you get a beautiful, durable, hygienic coating that will last for many years. How independently - in a special publication of our portal.

"Classic" wall decoration - ceramic tiles

Facing with ceramic tiles is a more time-consuming job, since you need to master the technology of its masonry. Therefore, in order for the result to be flawless, it is often necessary to invite a master facing, and his work will not be cheap. It is especially important to carry out the process according to all the rules if it is supposed to decorate the walls with tiles with an image of an ornament or to fit a panel into the main masonry.

If you nevertheless decide to try your hand at this work, then the walls will need to be aligned to the ideal. This task can be dealt with by using sheets of drywall, which is mounted on the wall using a construction adhesive mixture. Such alignment is possible if the walls do not have excessively large drops. For surfaces in the bathroom, only moisture-resistant drywall is used, which has a green front surface.

Use drywall to level the walls!

Perfectly flat gypsum boards will level the surface and become a good basis for further finishing, including for facing with ceramic tiles. In conditions of limited bathroom space, it is more profitable to go directly to the surface. How to do it - in a separate article on the portal.

Floor finishing

The bathroom floor can be tiled with ceramic tiles, covered with moisture-resistant laminate or decorated with a self-leveling epoxy coating.

Ceramic tiles on the floor must also be laid skillfully, otherwise level drops may form. It will not look aesthetically pleasing, and in addition, it can lead to injuries, since it is easy to trip over the protruding tiles or scratch the foot.

If the shower tray has low sides, then the floor covering is made only of ceramic tiles.

Tiling the floor - how difficult is it?

The process cannot be called simple in any way, but if you strictly follow all technological recommendations, you can handle it yourself. To decide on, it is recommended to study the special publication of our portal.

  • The floor can be decorated with laminate if a closed-type shower cabin with high pallet walls is installed. With this option, the risk of overflowing water and getting it on the floor surface will be much lower.

Laminate has an advantage over ceramic tiles in that its surface is much warmer and less traumatic, which is very important when leaving the shower.

The disadvantage of this coating is its shorter service life. But if you purchase a material of a higher resistance class, lay and operate it carefully, do not walk on such a floor in shoes with a hard sole, then the laminated coating can also serve for a long time.

  • A self-leveling epoxy or polymer floor is suitable for a bathroom with a shower cabin with any pallet, since it performs two functions at once - both waterproofing and decorative coating. The disadvantage of this type of floor can be called the fact that for its device you will have to invite a professional, whose work will be quite expensive. And the set of materials for such a filling itself will cost a "good" amount.

A modern approach to bathroom decoration - bulk epoxy floor

A self-leveling polymer floor with patterns, fillers or even a volumetric pattern will look very advantageous in the bathroom. In addition, the problem of waterproofing is immediately completely solved. To learn more about the technology and assess your capabilities - read the special publication of the portal.

Bathroom ceiling

The decoration of the ceiling in the bathroom is carried out using different materials - it can be plastic panels, stretch ceiling, slab, painted, decorated with expanded polystyrene tiles, made of gypsum plasterboard suspended structures, and others.

The most important element of a bathroom interior is a beautifully designed ceiling.

Each type of ceiling finish has its own advantages and disadvantages, both in installation and during operation. To find out, read the dedicated article on the portal.

Design options for bathrooms with shower

In order to imagine how different options for shower cabins may look in the interior of small bathrooms of standard apartments, it is proposed to consider several possible design solutions in more detail.

Option number 1

In this case, the combined bathroom is equipped in a room, the area of which is usually reserved only for the bathroom.

The compact arrangement of all the necessary elements contributed to the fact that a fairly large area of the room remained free. For this, a simple compact shower cabin with no additional functions with a tray of medium depth was chosen, so it does not burden the interior. Its opaque transparent walls, as well as a mirror that reflects the opposite wall, contribute to the expansion of the space.

For the walls and the floor, two types of light-colored tiles were used, which are in perfect harmony with each other. A narrow ceramic border with an ornament that includes both colors used in the interior was used as a decorative decoration, which simultaneously unites and separates them.

Light colors, as well as diagonally laid floor tiles, visually expand the room.

So that the room does not seem narrow due to the height of the ceiling, the white tiles are not laid over the entire height of the wall, but in the form of a wide insert, which is framed by a narrow border ornamental tile. The upper part of the walls is decorated with a strip of the same color as the lower part of the interior - this, as it were, makes the ceiling lower, and the room does not seem too narrow. Combining floor planes and panels with color also expands the space.

The pipe of the central sewer line with the design of shelves, which are not only functional, but also perfectly fit into the design.

About this interior, we can say that the designer has thought through every detail of its design - from the color scheme to the placement of all accessories. Moreover, a place was prudently left for which, if desired, the owner of the apartment may well install a washing machine and fix a towel rack.

Option number 2

In this case, free space in the bathroom has appeared due to the combination of two rooms - a bathroom and a toilet. When the wall between these rooms was demolished, a part of it was prudently saved to be converted into a partition of medium height, dividing the bath and toilet zones. The compactness of this element makes it almost invisible in the interior; moreover, its preservation made it possible to preserve the location of the heated towel rail, which was simply replaced with a smaller version.

The interior uses two shades of the same warm color, which makes the room lighter, and the white ceiling echoes the interior elements, which look like light spots against the background of a dark orange tone. The border separating the color zones is a kind of "highlight" that adds aesthetics to the design and emphasizes the area of the panels.

Such a color scheme, although thought out in warm sunny colors, still requires more intense lighting, since the dark orange shade of the panels and the floor does not support it, but rather absorbs it. Therefore, only a white ceiling and accessories located on a dark background look like light spots.

For this bathroom, we have chosen a compact simple shower cabin without additional functions with transparent walls, which contributes to the effect of expanding the space, and the rounded shape of its doors softens the lines of the interior. Smooth lines and warm tones can tune a person to relaxation, which is good for the evening hours, when water procedures are taken before bed, but does not at all contribute to the mood for increased performance.

It should be noted that such a design is not well thought out in terms of the color scheme, since additional lighting is required for the room. The arrangement of all interior elements is successful, compact enough and takes up a small area. The rest of the room can be used for the installation of other traditional bathroom items and appliances.

Option number 3

The interior in this case is made in cold colors. Although the room is bright enough and does not require additional lighting, the chosen gray and white finish looks rather dull and "official". The interior has a well-thought-out accuracy, thanks to the rational arrangement of all accessories, however, as if there is no home comfort. If a facing material of this shade is chosen and the room is already decorated in a similar style, then a bright warm color rug laid on the floor and a colored panel on the wall will help to correct the situation. These details will add warmth, comfort and light to a dull monochromatic interior.

The layout of the premises is successful, but the style of decoration is somewhat "chilly"

The positive aspects of this design include the horizontal arrangement of rectangular tiles on the walls and a diagonal arrangement on the floor, provided by the designer. This solution visually expands the space and makes the room more voluminous.

In the considered option, a shower cabin was chosen, which has a massive shape and a greater number of functions. She is the center of the interior and the first, upon entering the room, attracts attention, and the rest of the elements, as it were, support her presence, filling the space.

In general, the interior is decorated with professional precision and calculation. The only drawback is its monotony and coldness of color.

Option number 4

This small bathroom is located in a small apartment called "Khrushchev". Having such a small room, you have to think over the installation of each of the elements with special care, and the shower cabin with its compactness can be called the only rational solution.

I managed to fit literally "on a patch"

In this interior, despite its small area, the sewer main and the pipes passing next to it are perfectly camouflaged with the help of a built-in box. Moreover, the box fits perfectly into the design, not standing out and, it would seem, does not take up space at all. The shower cubicle has successfully found its place between the wall and the protruding part of the box. Although it does not look compact in a small room, it looks very aesthetically pleasing and neat. The semicircular sliding doors of the booth have frosted glass, and this additionally contributes to the visual expansion of the space, since they cover the corner of the room in which the booth is installed, thereby blurring the border of the wall.

The room is decorated in light colors, using baked milk tiles. This approach, combined with the white color of all the accessories, enhances the room's illumination.

In the shown interior, the area is used as efficiently as possible with a well-chosen color and arrangement of all the elements necessary for this room.

Option number 5

Another room, which, it would seem, makes it impossible to accommodate everything necessary for hygiene procedures. However, the skilful designer did an excellent job here too, choosing compact accessories and successfully placing them in the space.

There was even a place in the room for a pencil case, a washing machine and a mobile trolley bedside table, on which detergents and towels were conveniently placed.

Moreover, for this bathroom a shower cabin was chosen, which has a deep tray, which can be used almost like a full-fledged bathtub. In addition, the cabin is equipped with additional functions, as well as a seat, which makes water procedures as comfortable as possible.

The walls and floors were decorated with ceramic tiles in a contrasting color. The panels are cladding in dark blue, and the top of the wall is white, which makes a small room without natural light bright enough. A narrow border separating the two colors and having them in its ornament softens the abrupt transition from the dark lower part of the wall to the upper, light part of it.

We can say about this interior that it contains everything you need to receive procedures. Moreover, despite the small space, a lot of space is left for free access to any of the accessories.

In conclusion, I would like to note that in order for the interior created in the bathroom to be used as long as possible, it is very important to carry out preliminary preparation of the room, as well as to choose the right accessories for it. Having followed all the recommendations for arranging this room, the owners will receive a comfortable bathroom that will last for more than a dozen years.

At the end of the publication, there is another interesting design option for the bathroom with the installation of a shower stall.

Reading time: 7 minutes

Increasingly, in the bathrooms of city apartments, bulky bathtubs are being replaced by compact and practical showers. And it's not just about saving space: it is a stylish, modern and multifunctional bathroom attribute preferred by active people. And if the space allows, then it is not necessary to dwell on one thing: it is quite possible to combine both options. In any case, a well-thought-out layout and design of a bathroom with a shower will play a decisive role, making it stylish, comfortable and beautiful, regardless of whether it is spacious or tiny, separate or combined with a toilet.

Features of the interior of a bathroom with a shower

Design practice shows that a shower cabin is especially often installed in combined bathrooms. A bathroom and a toilet combined in one room allow you to win additional space, which will make it possible to install necessary items, for example, a cabinet or a washing machine, and free up space where you can move around without clinging to furniture.

Consider a few design tips when setting up a small space:

  • If the count goes to centimeters, when choosing a shower stall, toilet bowl, sink, you need to pay attention not only to the design, but also to their size.
  • It should be remembered that corner shower cabins take up less space than front ones.
  • Installing a wall-hung toilet next to the sewer pipes will not only hide them, but also save additional decimeters.
  • Hanging lockers will free up the area below.
  • A visual increase in space is achieved with wall-hung toilets and washbasins. The freed up floor space creates the effect of a larger area.
  • The use of mirrors visually expands the boundaries of the room. A mirrored ceiling subjectively increases the height of the room, just like a mirrored wall will double the area. Decorating walls and equipment in light colors visually expands the territory.

A few words about the shower

Produced shower cabins range from the simplest to multifunctional models. In addition to the standard shower head, they can be equipped with hydromassage, sauna function or rain shower. They can also be:

  • square, round and triangular shape;
  • fenced with frosted or transparent glass;
  • with sliding / folding, or outward / inward opening doors.

A large selection determines wide design possibilities: a shower cubicle will be appropriate in bathrooms, decorated in a variety of styles, from classic to high-tech.

Benefits of a shower cabin

It makes sense to change the bathtub to a shower cabin for several reasons:

  1. The shower stall takes up less space than the bathtub.
  2. Saving water.
  3. The speed of hygiene procedures (no need to wait for the filling of the container).
  4. The dirt from the body is immediately washed off, and does not float around.
  5. Less cleaning since dirty water does not spill outside the cab.

If life is unthinkable without relaxation in hot water, add a small bathtub additionally. You can also purchase a shower cabin with a deep tray of the required size or a so-called shower box.

The location of the shower cabin in the bathroom

When purchasing a shower stall, you should consider where it will be placed: in the corner, along the long or short wall of the bathroom.

  • Convenient when the room is square. Plumbing is organically located along the walls.
  • In a rectangular elongated room, a shower room can be placed along a short wall, occupying it completely.
  • In a rectangular room with a door located on a long wall, you can arrange a shower, toilet and washbasin in a row along one wall.
  • A well-thought-out layout will allow you to place both a bath and a shower stall even in a very good way.

It is important to remember that before leaving the cabin, there must be a free space of at least 70 cm.If it is located along a wall with a door, the distance to the door should be at least 15 cm.Other objects should not adjoin the walls of the cabin, the optimal distance is 30 cm.

Style of design

When decorating small combined bathrooms, the following styles are popular:

  • High tech. Lots of glass and chrome-plated steel, dark shiny surfaces. A stark contrast. Compact equipment. Directional lighting. Lack of jewelry.
  • ... Natural materials: wood, bamboo, stone, glass or imitations similar in color and structure. Neutral colors. General lighting with spot lighting. Sliding doors. Decoration with hieroglyphs and flowers.
  • Minimalism. Only the most necessary equipment. Lack of jewelry and little things. Finishes in beige, white and gray. Glass is used for the shelves. General lighting.
  • Sea style. All sorts of attributes of the marine theme: shell, steering wheel, sailor suit, pebbles, distributed harmoniously. Colors and shades of turquoise, beige and white. The lighting is bright.

Several of the proposed options do not limit the imagination, but it is very important to correlate the style of the bathroom with the general concept of the apartment.

Partitions in the bathroom

A tiny room does not seem to need to be divided into microscopic parts. But if many people use the combined bathroom, it makes sense to install partitions.

  • The matte walls of the shower stall will be in place: one person takes water procedures, the second at this time can use the toilet.
  • Folding fabric or bamboo screens can help solve the problem just as well. When folded, they take up little space, but they will add an additional zest to the decor of the room.
  • The same can be said about the curtains: there is a need - moved apart, the need passed - closed.
  • And, of course, stationary partitions, on which you can attach an additional cabinet or shelf. Low sides are often used as towel rails.

Light

The lighting in the bathroom primarily depends on the style. Romantic requires subdued light, with some elements brightly illuminated. The classic prefers medium intensity light. Modern - bright lighting. Hi-tech - narrowly targeted point.

When choosing lamps, it must be borne in mind that the dark finish additionally conceals the light, so more powerful lamps should be taken. Conversely, metal and mirrors reflect radiation from the surface, allowing you to save on electricity.

The choice of finishing materials for the bathroom

The advantage when decorating the interior of the bathroom is given to materials that are not destroyed by water, temperature changes, high humidity. Stone, plastic, ceramics are the main types of finishes used.

  • The space visually changes when laying horizontally or vertically.
  • The walls of the bathroom are finished with plastic panels, which look very aesthetically pleasing. The advantage of plastic finishing is the low cost and the fact that the work can be done independently.
  • Ceramic tiles, marble (including artificial), laminate, self-leveling floor are used to finish the floor of the combined bathroom.
  • Stretch ceilings, expanded polystyrene tiles, plastic panels - any material that does not absorb moisture are used for the ceiling.

What to choose, a shower, a bath or both at once is a personal matter for everyone. Using the right colors, lighting, materials and combining different elements of the interior, you can create an individual and unique bathroom in which you will be cozy and comfortable.
