Appliances for drying clothes in the bathroom. Wall-mounted clothes dryers: an overview of modern models

In order to comfortably dry the washed laundry, a lot of devices have been invented today. They take up a minimum of space, are able to withstand heavy loads and can be almost invisible to the eye. In this article, the varieties of clothes dryers will be presented, and their features will also be considered.

Types and features

By the type of structure, all dryers are divided into simple (without additional mechanisms), folding (with special flaps, with which you can increase the area for hanging) and sliding / sliding (built-in grooves allow you to quickly move the dryer apart).

And at the point of attachment, dryers can be divided into wall, floor and ceiling. There are also portable models that can be placed anywhere.

Wall mounted

Wall dryers are the most popular product option. When installing, make sure the wall is strong and leave enough space to unfold the dryer. Not all models are heavy duty, but almost all offer space savings.

There are many types of wall dryers:

  • inertial folding;
  • in the form of an accordion;
  • telescopic;
  • lift type dryers;
  • folding;
  • stationary.

Inertial folding dryers are two parts mounted opposite each other on the walls. A reel of ropes is attached to one, hooks to the other. The ropes must be pulled out and fastened to the hooks. In the folded position, such a model takes up almost no space, and in the disassembled position it can accommodate a lot of linen.

The accordion dryer is attached to one wall and, if necessary, expands according to the accordion principle. The role of ropes in such a dryer is played by thin tubes that do not leave creases on dried laundry. The number of these tubes varies from 5 to 10 pieces. Often, the dimensions of such models are not suitable for drying bed linen. Products are installed in bathrooms, they are very compact when assembled.

Telescopic dryers slide out using a different mechanism. These models can be pulled out completely or half. They are designed for drying light items like socks, T-shirts, shirts.

The lift type dryer is the most versatile. It is often placed on the balcony or in the bathroom. It takes up little space, but you can place a lot of laundry on it. Such a dryer is more of a wall / ceiling type, because some of its parts can be attached to the ceiling. The design is as follows: two slats with metal tubes are attached to the wall, thanks to a special mechanism, these tubes can be lowered to the desired level, and then raised with the laundry hanging.

Such a dryer allows you to hang things on different levels, so that they are better ventilated. The mechanism can withstand up to 25 kg of clothing, for which it is considered the most durable and comfortable.

The swing-out dryer also carries a decent weight, but has a slightly different design. It can be reclined at any angle. Folding or unfolding takes seconds, and you can choose the number and width of the partitions yourself. Often the structure is placed in the bathroom or on the balcony.

A stationary wall dryer is the most common option. It consists of two planks attached to opposite walls. The ropes are stretched between them. It is most convenient to equip such a device on the balcony. The length of the ropes depends on the size of the balcony, it will also be equal to the length of the ceiling.

There is also a roller dryer, with which you can greatly facilitate the process of hanging the laundry. The slats have a roller system that allows you to pull on the rope, thereby moving it along the course of hanging.

Ceiling

Ceiling dryers have more sophisticated mechanisms than wall dryers and are used less frequently. Their main advantage is space saving. The design and size of such dryers can be made absolutely any.

There are several types:

  • Dryer "liana" or "lift" has tubes for hanging, which were described above.
  • The ceiling accordion has the same mechanism as the wall-mounted model, only it is fixed to the ceiling. They can use both ropes and tubes.

  • Suspended. It is designed for drying light clothes and has a very primitive device: a hook with a bar on which clothespins can be additionally attached. Usually these are short-lived plastic models, but there are more reliable variations in metal and wood.

Floor

Folding floor dryers are mobile and can be delivered in any room. In addition, when folded, they take up a minimum of space. The complete set of such models can be completely different. But the main elements are unchanged: a frame (of various shapes), fixed legs attached to it and a retainer that does not allow the dryer to suddenly collapse. Some models have casters for easy movement.

Floor dryers have many important advantages:

  • There is no need to install and assemble the structure, you can start using it immediately after purchase.
  • When folded down, the dryer takes up very little space and can fit into a closet or closet. This is a significant plus for small apartments.
  • Most of the models can withstand heavy loads.
  • Standard models can be purchased at a fairly low price.
  • Constructions made of quality materials can serve for many years, even with frequent use.
  • The lightness of the design allows it to be easily carried if necessary.

The disadvantages include only a long process of drying the laundry. It can be reduced by placing the dryer in a well-ventilated area.

Floor dryers can be vertical. In them, the planes with ropes are located one above the other. Their height can be adjusted and reach two meters. Such models are called whatnots, they are often installed in shower stalls.

Portable

Portable dryers are suitable for small apartments (rooms). They are convenient for their compactness and can be installed on a battery, bath, door, cabinet. The only drawback is that you won't be able to dry a lot of things at a time.

Electrical

If there is a need for quick drying, electric models are perfect. In them, the process is faster, in comparison with rope structures, due to heating.

Electric bathroom linen dryers are very popular today. The structure does not need to be connected to a hot water supply, unlike a standard towel dryer (coil). All you need is network access.

The main feature of electric drying is the heating element, which is in mineral or natural oil. Other liquids can also be used. The main thing is that it conducts heat well.

Thanks to the oil, the tubes are heated evenly and damp things dry very quickly.

The owners of such models highlight the following advantages:

  • The laundry gets a pleasant aroma after drying.
  • The heating temperature can be adjusted.
  • A model with an ultraviolet lamp or ionizer can be purchased.
  • The dryer can be installed anywhere in the bathroom, because its device is not connected to the pipeline and does not depend on the supply of hot water.
  • The operating time is manually adjusted.
  • The temperature inside the tubes does not rise above 60 degrees. This allows you to gently dry delicate fabrics and avoid scalding when touched.
  • An electric dryer can be useful as an additional heat source.

Of course, some fabrics cannot be dried in such devices. But this is often written on the tag of the thing.

The disadvantages include only electricity consumption, but many note that the advantages of the device compensate for this nuance.

Bath dryers

There are miniature models of dryers that need to be installed directly on the bath. Usually they have rubber tips on the legs, which fix the structure well and prevent it from rolling off the edges.

In principle, such a dryer is similar to a sliding floor model, only after use is it removed. They are also called umbrella models. On average, they can withstand up to 10 kilograms of wet clothes.

Battery dryers

Such miniature options are well suited for drying small items for the entire heating season. The heat from the batteries dries out pretty quickly at no cost. Battery dryers can replace the electric model in winter. They are small and can be stored anywhere.

The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing such a dryer is the fastening mechanism to the radiator. In many apartments, there are still old-style batteries in the form of an accordion, and not every one of them is suitable for fastening such a structure. First you need to measure the battery and compare its length with the length of the dryer. It is also worth considering that a poor-quality dryer can deteriorate under the influence of the high temperature emanating from the battery.

Drum dryer

Outwardly, such a dryer is very similar to a regular washing machine. The mechanism includes a drum in which the laundry is dried. Drum dryers dry faster than all other types - from 30 minutes to an hour. But there is a nuance: clothes and linen after such drying will be very wrinkled, and it will be more difficult to smooth them out.

Another controversial issue is the need to connect the drum dryer to the sewer system in order to be able to remove moisture. This requires additional financial costs and the involvement of specialists.

Mounting methods

If we consider the models based on the method of their attachment, then there are few options. The structure can be built into the wall, suspended from the ceiling, or be mobile.

Hanging dryer

The structure consists of plastic tubes, inside of which ropes are stretched. The dryer is fixed to the ceiling, and the slats are easily lowered to hang the laundry and then raised by pulling the required ropes. The mechanism can be fixed both above the bathroom and on the balcony.

Stationary dryer

The easiest option for self-production: the required number of hooks are attached to opposite walls, and clotheslines are pulled between them. The tension can always be adjusted.

Stationary includes any model that is attached to the wall (panels) and does not move. For those who do not like the suspended ceiling system, we have come up with balcony hangers that can be removed from the hooks after the laundry has dried.

Materials (edit)

The material from which the dryer is made is of great importance. The service life of the product, its strength and susceptibility to moisture depend on it. There are some of the most common options:

  • Aluminum dryers. They are lightweight, but not stable enough. To prevent the aluminum from turning black over time, manufacturers cover the models with a layer of polymer. But this coating, as practice shows, cracks after a while.
  • Dryers made of stainless steel. This material is ideal for such designs. Moreover, both the body and the strings can be made of steel. It is very strong and durable. The disadvantages include its high weight (which will increase stability for floor-standing models) and cost.

  • Plastic dryers. The plastic version will not last long, but it is good for its cheapness and lightness. Models are often used for drying lightweight items (socks or underwear).

  • Wooden dryers. From an aesthetic point of view, these are the most stylish models. But to extend their life, the board must be regularly coated with protective solutions.
  • Combined. Multi-material dryers are less common and often homemade.

How to do it yourself?

If the apartment has the necessary tools, then you can assemble the dryer yourself.

Here is a step-by-step instruction for making the simplest design:

  • First, you need to attach two wooden planks to opposite walls (for example, on a balcony).
  • Then, screw rings must be screwed into these strips. Each rope will require two pieces (one on each side). The number of rings in a row depends on personal wishes and the length of the planks.
  • In order for the screws to fit well, holes must first be made under them. The diameter should be slightly smaller than the screws themselves. These holes must be thoroughly cleaned before screwing in.
  • If there are gaps near the screws, they must be repaired to increase the strength of the entire structure.

For a homemade dryer of this type, you can not cut the rope into pieces, but simply take a whole one and stretch it through all the rings. Before starting, it is important to carefully examine the walls of the balcony for cracks and voids. If there are any, they must be repaired, otherwise the wet linen may one day outweigh, and the whole structure will collapse. It is also advisable to make markings on the walls, taking into account the future location of the dryer.

Manufacturing can take an hour and a half and requires only a rope, a couple of wooden planks, and about ten screws. Any hostess can handle such work.

It will be more difficult to make a fold-out dryer. But, following the step-by-step instructions, you can get it done pretty quickly. For such a design, you will need wooden planks, rods, a sheet of plywood or drywall, furniture hinges, hooks, fasteners and paint.

Procedure:

  • First you need to drill holes in the opposite parts of the frame, which in diameter will be equal to the cross-section of the rods.
  • The rods are inserted into the holes. At the ends, they can be thinned to make it easier to fix them.
  • Next, you need to assemble the frame, fastening the elements together with nails.
  • The base of the dryer is being prepared, which should be 12-15 cm longer than the frame in length and width.
  • The lower frame plank must be attached to the base using furniture hinges.
  • Then the entire structure must be painted with water-based paint and allowed to dry completely.

  • On the side opposite from the hinges, a latch is attached for fixing.
  • A folding structure is installed. It is important to determine the optimal angle for the mechanism so that the clamshell does not take up too much space.
  • Next, you need to hang the hooks for small items on the side of the frame.
  • The dryer is fixed to the wall with screws.

You can decorate the product by painting the rods in different colors. It is important to choose shades that will be in harmony with the design of the entire room / balcony.

You can also make a floor dryer with your own hands, which is very similar in design to a book-table. It may seem that such a structure is quite difficult to manufacture, but this is not so.

For manufacturing you will need:

  • plastic-lined chipboard or MDF boards (two side - 60 by 20 cm and two above and below - 70 by 20 cm);
  • self-tapping screws;
  • any details that act as handles;
  • steel pipes for hanging laundry (20 x 2 mm and 18 x 2 mm);
  • stainless steel rods (10-12 pcs);
  • steel pipes for a support that will fold back (6 pcs);
  • steel pipes for the frame (4 pcs. 60 cm and 4 pcs. 70 cm);
  • steel pipe 18 by 2 mm;
  • nuts;
  • corners (4 pieces);
  • wheels (4 pcs).

Procedure:

  • The boards that form the future frame must be fixed to each other using steel corners and self-tapping screws.
  • Wheels are mounted to the lower part of the structure.
  • Next, you need to connect the entire body using the ties on the top. You will need hinges to make the frame and body.
  • The next step is to connect the rods and the frame. It is important to maintain the same distance between parts.

In order to avoid the appearance of rust, it is advisable to paint the assembled dryer. The structure will regularly come into contact with moisture, it is important to extend its service life by painting. Beforehand, the entire surface must be degreased (for example, with acetone) and covered with a primer. The best option would be automotive or acrylic paint, applied in two layers.

This product can be placed in the bathroom, kitchen or any living room. If necessary, it can be folded up and removed in seconds.

For information on how to make a do-it-yourself tumble dryer out of wood, see the next video.

Which is better?

You can highlight the main characteristics that you should pay attention to when buying a tumble dryer:

  • Working surface area. It is the sum of the lengths of all the rods (ropes) in the unfolded state. The higher this value, the more massive and more expensive the model will be.
  • The number of rods (ropes). Their number determines the width of the model.
  • The presence of tiers and their number. Multi-tiered designs allow you to place a lot of laundry at a time and save space. But their cost will be appropriate.
  • Maximum load. This indicator is determined by the type of design and material of manufacture. Accordingly, the more load the model can withstand, the longer it will last. The simplest wall dryers usually hold about 7-10 kg of things, and the folding and "vines" floor dryers - up to 25 kg.
  • Additional details. These include transport rollers for floor structures, which make them easier to move. The casters are usually made of rubber or plastic.

Rubber coated plastic casters are more practical because they will not leave marks on the floor. They must be equipped with a retainer so that after moving the dryer does not roll away anywhere.

  • The presence of compartments for drying shoes. Standard dryers with long string spacing are not very convenient for storing shoes. Therefore, if you plan to dry your shoes every day, you should take care of the presence of such compartments in advance.
  • When choosing a dryer, you need to clearly know the future place of its installation. For balconies, "vines" and conventional ceiling mechanisms are more suitable. For placement in the room - floor dryers.
  • When buying, it is important to pay attention to the quality of fasteners and ropes. These are precisely the details on which the strength of the structure and its service life directly depend.

Attention should be paid not only to the material and size of the dryer, but also to its design. It is clear that this thing is completely household, but modern manufacturers sometimes design it as a full-fledged decorative element, so that it is not immediately possible to guess its intended purpose.

If the place for the location of the dryer is a closed balcony, then some factors must be taken into account in advance:

  • the dimensions of the balcony and its heating;
  • the maximum weight of the laundry to be dried;
  • wall and ceiling decoration material, repair features.

If it is rather cold on the balcony, then you should not fasten the structure very close to the ceiling, otherwise the clothes will freeze. The thickness and quality of fasteners directly depends on the weight of the items to be dried. For lightweight clothing, regular ropes and a plastic base will work. For blankets or winter clothing, thick ropes and a metal frame are needed.

The material from which the house is built is also important. The fact is that it is quite difficult to make ceiling holes in panel buildings, and special nuts will be required for concrete walls.

The following rules must be observed when using dryers:

  • If you plan to hang heavy bedding on the ceiling dryer, then you should not opt for models with aluminum slats. Most likely, they will not withstand the loads and will simply bend.
  • Before the final installation of the dryer on the balcony, you can fully open the windows and check if they will touch the hung laundry in the future. This is true for owners of spacious balconies in which this can be avoided.
  • After each use, wipe the entire structure of the dryer first with a damp cloth, then dry.
  • If the dimensions of an apartment or a bathroom are very small, then you should pay attention to vertical dryers. They do not leave scratches on the floor, take up a minimum of space, and are easy to assemble.
  • It is important to thoroughly wring out the laundry before hanging it up. This will reduce the load on the dryer and keep the floor from dripping from the clothes.
  • Rust can develop on metal structures with frequent use. At the first signs of it, it is necessary to immediately treat this place with an anti-corrosion solution, and it is better to lubricate the entire dryer entirely.

  • When buying a dryer, it is very important to consider the distance between the ropes (rods, tubes). The greater this distance, the faster the laundry will dry and the more convenient it will be to hang it. The optimal distance is 7-9 mm. If this value is less, things will touch each other, and this will significantly increase the time they completely dry. In addition, some items will fade and need to be hung separately.
  • It is not recommended to buy a dryer, the rods of which are attached by welding, because this most often leads to corrosion. An excellent alternative would be rolling and plastic caps at the joints. With such a system, puffs will not form on the clothes.
  • If you do not plan to clean the dryer for a long time, then you can make sure that it fits into the interior of the room by choosing the color of the model to match the tiles, furniture or curtains.
  • Another nice bonus is that drying things indoors in winter humidifies the air well.

  • In order to extend the life of your dryer, it is important to keep track of how the ropes are frayed or structural parts fail. This is especially true for plastic models that wear out much faster than metal ones. A good manufacturer will design the parts subject to wear in such a way that they are easy to replace.
  • The most common malfunctions are bracket deformation and gear wear. Again, this is very common with plastic models. You can buy similar parts and repair yourself. Of the tools, you only need pliers and a screwdriver.
  • To replace the roller wheel, you need to pull out the pin on which it is holding. The new gear must be secured with the same rod.
  • Replacing the cords is straightforward: they pass through the bracket just as easily as they were during the initial assembly.
  • If, when using the dryer, a squeak is periodically heard, then it will not be superfluous to lubricate the friction points with technical oil. It's just important not to overdo it and wipe off the leftovers so as not to stain your clothes.
  • The easiest way to solve the problem of a broken bracket is to buy a new dryer.
  • If you can't fix the dryer yourself, you can trust the experienced craftsmen. They will quickly find the right part and save time.

  • If there are a lot of delicate fabrics in your wardrobe, you should pay attention to electric dryers with a built-in thermostat. In this way, the risk of damage can be reduced to a minimum.
  • If there is a need for drying hats, when choosing a model, you should pay attention to the presence of additional holders for small-sized items.
  • Some models even include an air ionization function. For this, an ultraviolet lamp is built into the structure.
  • Although manufacturers assure the complete safety of their products, it is better to play it safe and not allow children to turn on and off electric models on their own. But often the maximum temperature of such models does not exceed 60 degrees, and there is no risk of getting burned.
  • If you plan to place an electric dryer on the balcony, then you should first waterproof it in order to prevent moisture from entering the mechanism from the outside.
  • When choosing an automatic dryer, you need to pay attention to the marking, which indicates the energy consumption of a particular model. The letter "A" denotes the most economical models, the letter "G" - the most energy-consuming and powerful.

If there is no need for maximum power, the choice of a model with an average indicator will be optimal. This will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of the device and not overload the wiring.

  • If the issue of saving space is acute, then you can give preference to installing a dryer outside the apartment, that is, the street version. It is often installed on the outside of the balcony. This option is not very convenient because:
  • The ability to dry your laundry is directly dependent on the weather.
  • There is no certainty that the clothes will not be blown away by a strong gust of wind
  • From an aesthetic point of view, this design does not decorate the apartment at all.

  • It is important that all available fasteners for the dryer are made of metal. Many manufacturers make them plastic, but this only saves money on manufacturing and shortens the life of the structure.
  • In a liana type dryer, the cables can be metal or nylon. And here it is worth making a choice in favor of metal. But if, nevertheless, the choice fell on nylon, then for a long service life they should be no thinner than 3 mm in diameter.
  • In order to understand the structure and equip it correctly, you must read the instructions. Even if the manufacturer is foreign, the inserts must be duplicated in Russian. If the instructions are incomprehensible or completely absent, you should think about the manufacturer's conscientiousness and the quality of the goods.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the mounting bolts. Often the complete set includes plastic dowels and rather short bolts. With the length of the pipes over 1200 mm, the length of the bolts may simply not be enough for reliable fixation. Therefore, when purchasing a massive model, it is better to immediately take care of the strength and buy good anchor bolts.

  • When caring for electric dryers, it is imperative to wipe the edges of the air ducts with a simple rag (napkin) without the use of detergents and chemicals.
  • Rotation of the tank in a drum dryer can be one-way or two-way. The latter ensures uniform drying of the clothes and speeds up the drying process itself. It is important that the tank is made of stainless steel or other durable metal, otherwise the dryer will not last long.
  • Each automatic dryer has a filter. It accumulates threads, lint, wool and other small details. When choosing, you need to take into account that this filter is easy enough to get out, because it will have to be cleaned regularly by hand.
  • Some automatic dryers even have an ironing mode. The items rotate in the drum in a certain way, blown with cold air and leave the dryer completely ready for use.

Manufacturers and reviews

It is easier to decide on the right option after familiarizing yourself with the most demanded models from the best manufacturers. Pay attention to the detailed characteristics of high-quality dryers with different functionality.

  • When folded, it has a very compact size - 18 cm by 50 cm.
  • The total length of the useful surface is 25 meters.
  • The diameter of the tubes is 8 mm, which prevents creases in the fabric.
  • Wheels with protective nylon pads allow you to move the dryer without damaging the floor.
  • The middle shelf can be used as a table on which it is convenient to fold laundry taken from the side surfaces.

Disadvantages:

  • has an impressive weight - 7.8 kg:
  • the average cost is quite high:
  • in working order takes up a lot of space.

Leifheit rollquick

This stretch dryer is very compact and when folded looks like a small plastic case. Its dimensions are 7 cm by 8 cm by 50 cm. The structure can be attached to the wall in the bathroom or any other room: it will practically not be noticeable.

Before hanging the laundry, you need to pull out the bar with 5 thick strings and hook it to the hooks on the opposite wall.

Design advantages:

  • It does not spoil the overall appearance of the room when folded.
  • The tension on the cords can be adjusted.
  • Maximum load - 7 kg. For the existing dimensions, this is a very good indicator.
  • The strings unwind automatically.
  • The product is sold at a reasonable price.

Disadvantages:

  • Cords begin to sag over time.
  • It is not always convenient to adjust the tension of the strings due to the fact that they are connected together.

Granchio-Household Calabria

The universally recognized universal model. It was designed for wall mounting, but can be fixed horizontally. The set includes 6 slats, 160 cm each, secured with nylon cords. They allow you to raise and lower the bars to the desired height.

Design advantages:

  • The design is as simple and durable as possible.
  • Tube-shaped crossbars do not wrinkle clothes.
  • The slats are covered with an anti-corrosion compound.
  • All necessary fasteners are included.
  • Low cost. Literally everyone can afford such a dryer.

Disadvantages:

  • White cords get dirty pretty quickly and lose their presentable appearance.
  • The product is not suitable for drying blankets or bed linen.

Badoogi All Mom 2

This rolling dryer is equipped with 3 shelves with 6 bars each. The dimensions of the model are 143 cm by 64 cm. The total length of the used surface is 20 meters.

The complete set includes additional plastic holders, on which you can hang 10 more hangers. This is very convenient if you have delicate items in your wardrobe that cannot be dried using the usual method.

Design advantages:

  • The reliable frame can withstand a load of up to 30 kg.
  • The height of the beams can be independently adjusted and fixed in the desired position.
  • The castors make it easy to move the model.
  • When folded, the width is only 22cm. You can store it simply by leaning it against the wall or hiding it in a closet.
  • The set includes 72 hooks for fixing small items.
  • The impressive 7 cm spacing between the bars allows clothes to dry faster.
  • The construction weighs only 4.6 kg.

The disadvantage is that all fasteners and holders are made of plastic, which cannot guarantee a long service life of the structure.

Termolux CD 302 STR

This is a fairly popular electric folding model. It has the usual design of a drying table with folding wings, but it dries things many times faster thanks to the built-in electric heater.

Design advantages:

  • The side panels rise quite high, which makes it possible to dry bulky items (for example, long curtains).
  • The strings are heated to an optimal temperature of 50-55 degrees Celsius.
  • The maximum load of the dryer is 15 kg, which is a very good indicator for electric models.
  • Economical energy consumption - about 0.22 kW.
  • The total length of the working surface is 12.5 meters.
  • The price of the product is quite affordable compared to other electric dryers.

The disadvantage is that things do not dry evenly - they quickly get dry on the top and remain damp at the bottom. This is because heating occurs only in the area of the strings.

Beautiful examples

  • The telescopic wall dryer is a great option for placing over a battery. When folded, such a model will not attract too much attention, but when unfolded it will be able to accommodate a sufficient amount of laundry.

  • The design of the foldable floor dryer is very interesting. Such a thing is more of a decoration than a practical household item: the use of wood for the frame of the dryer is undesirable. But such a model, even with things hung on it, looks very stylish and original.

  • The model, which is popularly called whatnot, has a shelf for drying shoes, which is very practical. Of course, the shelf is not designed for hanging bedding, but it is great for drying simple clothes. It is also nice that the structure folds to a very small size.

  • A tumble dryer that attaches only to a bathtub is often used to dry small towels or rags. It is quite convenient in that the water flows directly into the bath, and you do not need to put something underneath or constantly wipe the floor.
  • The folding design is convenient, first of all, for its vertical position and the ability to place clothes directly on the hangers. This is useful for drying clothes that cannot be dried conventionally.

  • The tumble dryer looks very stylish and complements the interior. In the folded position, it is not even visible that this is a dryer.
  • The standard design of the liana dryer looks interesting. If you choose the color of the model for the interior decoration of the balcony, then in the folded position it will hardly stand out.

In order for the process of drying clothes to deliver a minimum of inconvenience, and chaotically hung shirts and pillowcases do not spoil the interior, you need convenient and beautiful clothes dryers in the bathroom. Useful recommendations and tips will help you make the right choice and not return to it in the next few years.

The range of devices for drying clothes is more than wide. First of all, the variety of forms catches the eye, among which there are miniature models for drying little things over the bathroom, and spacious folding structures that can place the contents of a huge cabinet on their crossbars. In order not to be mistaken in the choice, you will have to soberly assess the size of your own bathroom and finally decide where the dryer will be located: on the floor, on the wall or on the ceiling.

Floor dryers

Folding floor structures are convenient in that they do not take up much space and are not in front of our eyes at a time when there is nothing to dry - the “folding bed” folds compactly and can be stored in a closet or in a corner. This shape is ideal for those who wash 1-2 times a week and has enough space to use a bulky unfolded structure without prejudice to the bathroom.

The folding design is suitable for a spacious room

Vertical models are more compact and can fit in a free corner of the bathroom without compromising on the interior and convenience. But such a modification is more suitable for those who wash with an exclusively automatic machine and use the spin cycle - if you place poorly wrung out laundry on the upper floors, drops will fall on the lower shelves, leaving ugly smudges and increasing the drying time.

Vertical models are more compact

Wall dryers

A compact wall-mounted dryer for clothes in the bathroom cannot boast of a large capacity, but it does not require additional space and quickly becomes operational. These accessories are ideal for those who do not like to accumulate a lot of things, but prefer to wash in small batches.

Wall-mounted accordions take up little space

Ceiling dryers

Ceiling fixtures are a modern alternative to grandma's rope. They can be collapsible or permanently attached. If you hang the structure directly above the bathroom, then you can safely hang things from which water drips on it. The most significant drawback of ceiling models is that they limit the ability to use the bathroom while drying things.

There are many modifications of dryers for the ceiling.

How to choose a durable bathroom dryer

Having decided on the shape, you should carefully look at the quality of the product and, first of all, the materials from which the dryer is made. It is important not to forget about high humidity in the bathroom and frequent contact of elements with wet things - all parts and fasteners must be resistant to corrosion. The most durable and practical material is stainless steel. It makes sense to choose aluminum only if the device will be used only for light laundry.

Convenient and popular "Liana"

Sometimes, instead of stainless steel, manufacturers use ordinary steel, protecting it from moisture with enamel or powder paints. Unfortunately, the enamel is short-lived and cracks quickly. A high-quality powder coating is more reliable and is not afraid of moisture, but it must be applied flawlessly to all parts of the product.

In inexpensive wall dryers and in compact models designed to be placed on the bathtub or on the door, plastic is often found. Of course, you can buy such an economical option, but you should not count on long years of service.

The distance between the strings or rungs must be at least 6 cm

In order not to be mistaken in choosing a bathroom dryer, it is recommended to take a tape measure with you to the store. Firstly, it will help to determine the dimensions with an accuracy of a centimeter, and secondly, it can be used to measure the distance between the beams or ropes. Ideally, it should be at least 6 cm - otherwise things will take longer to dry, and accidental contact can lead to stains on light-colored fabrics.

Electric quick dryers

For those who like quick results, there are electric dryers. These devices help out both in winter and summer. In order to dry small things, 40-50 minutes is enough, and such large items as duvet covers and blankets dry in 2-4 hours.

When choosing an electric assistant, it is important to pay attention to its power - it is desirable that this parameter be at least 70 W, then the device can easily cope with bulky jackets, pillows and thick winter sweaters. So that the dryer can be entrusted with not only coarse, but also thin fabrics, it is recommended to give preference to models with several temperature regimes.

Standard floor system

For admirers of traditional solutions, folding floor models are produced that resemble the usual folding dryers in shape. For small rooms, there are compact wall structures that can be used not only for their intended purpose, but also for heating the bathroom.

For delicate fabrics and instant results, they came up with a system in which clothes get rid of excess moisture by circulating hot air. Such models have a frame and a cover, inside which the quick drying process takes place.

Fast Delicate Electric Dryer

Designer clothes dryers not only fulfill their duties efficiently, but also decorate the bathroom. For a large room, a star-shaped structure that unfolds according to the accordion principle is suitable.

Star dryer for a large number of small items

Even in a small bathroom, there is room for a wall structure that imitates a pretty window. It is easy to match the color of the frame to the overall design.

Idea for small spaces

For those who enjoy foot baths, a rocking chair with a tumble dryer is a must.

Extended rocking chair

For a country-style bathroom, wood products are more suitable, which, if desired, are easy to make with your own hands.

Wood blends perfectly with rustic style

For small items and knitted items that require a wash without spinning, you can purchase an additional dryer installed directly on the bath.

The simplest bath fixture

It makes sense for lovers of technological innovations to take a closer look at the compact ceiling system controlled by a remote control. At the time of hanging clothes, the bars are lowered to a comfortable height, during the drying process, the laundry can be slightly raised, and in the standby mode for the next wash, the structure folds compactly under the ceiling and does not spoil the interior.

Automatic model with control panel

If the huge assortment of stores does not have that unique model that you want to have in your home, there are only two options: either make a device for drying clothes with your own hands, or contact the specialists and order them a design drawn in your imagination.

Video: making a clothes dryer with your own hands

Dryers for clothes are used to dry clothes as quickly and efficiently as possible. The most popular are floor, ceiling, wall and sliding models.

The principle of operation of electrical devices:

  • Non-contact devices equipped with special infrared sensors that are triggered when you place your hands under the working area. The sensitivity level of the sensor is regulated by the control device.

Such dryers significantly save the stock of the mechanical motor of the device due to automatic operation.

  • Contact dryers are activated by a button and work according to a set timer. The devices are easily adjusted to the desired operating mode, regulate the temperature of the hot air supply and the operating time.

Types of clothes dryers

Classification according to the principle of operation:

  • Regular. Analogs of standard clotheslines are used for unfolding and proper drying of clothes. Stands out floor, ceiling, suspended, street, wall structures.

To save space in the room, folding devices are used. These dryers are cheap and easy to maintain.

  • Electrical. They not only serve as a place for drying clothes, but also provide the necessary temperature for drying.

These appliances consume energy and are therefore expensive to maintain. The use of devices is relevant in the winter season.

Electric dryers are efficient, but they are not economically viable.

Classification by purpose:

  • Ceiling. Classic models that are located high above the ceiling, if necessary, they can be lowered lower. They are made of aluminum or steel and coated with special compounds that protect against rust and corrosion.
  • Wall mounted. Built-in and folding devices are distinguished. Folding clothes dryers for balconies consist of two parts, one of which is attached to the wall. The second pull-out part is attached with special hooks.

The advantage of such structures is space saving, minus - they can withstand small loads.

Accordion dryers are hardy and durable, can withstand significant weight loads, act as a holder, are used in the bathroom or in the laundry.

Dryers-elevators are powerful devices that are suitable for installation on balconies and loggias.

  • Outdoor. Models resembling. If necessary, they can be placed in any convenient place: in the room, in the bathroom, on the balcony. Plus in the portability of structures that fold after use.
  • Suspended. They are used in small rooms. Folding dryers are installed directly on the bathtub, radiator or interior door.
  • Street... Installed for drying clothes outside. Benefits: energy savings, natural freshness of the laundry and quick drying. The downside is that street dryers are ineffective in winter.

Classification by construction type:

  • Folding. Products consisting of two movably connected elements are most often found among floor structures. Compact, they can be folded and unfolded, easy to transport.

Horizontal models that unfold parallel to the floor are suitable for installation on a balcony. Small vertical structures can withstand heavy loads and are installed in bathrooms.

Telescopic folding models can increase or decrease the size of the dryer depending on the situation.

  • Sliding. They are used in rooms where there is little free space (bath, balcony), as a rule, these are wall models. The advantage of the products is the increase in useful length, if necessary.

Inertial models consist of a container with a drum. The fastening strip, extending by 4 mm, is fixed from the opposite wall with hooks. When the plank is removed, the ropes are automatically returned to the drum.

The structures are protected from dust, functional and efficient. The disadvantage of the products is that over time, the rope becomes inelastic. Console models extend 50 cm and can be easily removed from the wall.

  • "Liana". Installed on balconies, they consist of two brackets with rollers, which are fixed with screws, and ropes with felling and rods.

Material classification:

  • Aluminum... The material is lightweight and inexpensive, but not strong enough; during operation it oxidizes and turns black, which leads to the appearance of stains on clean laundry.
  • Steel. High specific gravity structures are expensive. Products made of stainless steel do not corrode; conventional structures require a special moisture-proof coating.
  • Products with small dimensions, therefore, do not withstand heavy loads, and are inferior in strength to other materials.

  • Wooden. The models are pleasant to look at, durable, but the products will have to be treated with special compounds that contain phosphorus, fluorine, chlorine and nitrogen.
  • Combined... The use of several materials is due to the desire of manufacturers to strike a balance between quality and price of the dryer. Aluminum models with steel stands are common.

  • Total working surface... Indicates the maximum permissible load of the device. The greater the indicator of the total length of the rods of the dryer in the expanded form, the more massive and more expensive it is.

Models with a small work surface are used for drying clothes, but they are inconvenient for drying or sheets.

  • The number of rods. This indicator indicates the dimensions when unfolded.

    Models with a large number of rods save space in the room, but are no less functional than large products with a wide working surface.

  • Number of tiers... The tier of the dryer is made up of several rods, which are located in parallel and are at the same height.

Structures with 1-2 tiers are found in folding horizontal dryers, they are used to dry wide products, three- and four-tier models are in vertical folding-type devices, suitable for drying a large number of small items.

The price and weight of the product depends on the number of tiers. Multi-deck dryers save room space.

... Indicates the maximum allowable weight of the laundry that can be dried on the device.

Wall-mounted models withstand from 5 to 10 kg, mounted models - from 5 to 20 kg, maximum load on floor products - 20 kg, on ceiling - 25 kg. Electric dryers are designed to dry laundry with a total weight of 15 to 35 kg.

  • Side fenders- folding shelves in floor-standing models, which increase the capacity of the dryer, unfold on the work surface, so they do not take up much space.

To save space, lock the wings in a tilt position.

  • Drying shoes- models equipped with special pads. Such designs are convenient and functional. Special heaters used to dry shoes are placed inside the shoes or shoes.
  • Bath installation- the function is provided in floor dryers, these are special devices for attaching the structure to the legs of the bathtub. Such models are spacious, compact and easy to use.
  • Transport rollers- are found in heavy multi-tiered structures, provide the movement of the dryer. They are made of plastic, rubber, metal, rubber.

Rubber wheels leave marks on the floor, while plastic wheels cannot withstand mechanical damage. A good option is rubber coated plastic wheels.

The wheels move in different directions: forward, backward or around their own axis, which is convenient when turning. Catches are devices that prevent the dryer from rolling on the floor or other surface.

  • Hanger holder- holes at the ends of the rods or stand, which are used for the convenience of using the dryer. Free up additional space for the working surface, ensure the stability of the structure.
  • Protection against accidental closing- fixing devices that will protect the dryer from folding if there is a lot of laundry on it.

How to choose a tumble dryer

  • First, decide what kind of clothes you need a tumble dryer for. If you are going to dry long sheets and, then take ceiling models. For drying small items, wall dryers or removable dryers are suitable.
  • Decide on a place to place the dryer: bathroom, balcony, room, street. Wall-mounted devices are used in separate places in the room, ceiling structures are installed on the balcony, floor-mounted devices are installed in the bathroom.
  • Choose products that are not afraid of moisture and temperature fluctuations, with anti-corrosion properties. The following materials are suitable: painted steel, aluminum, other metals, plastic, wood.

  • Consider installing the dryer in your home. To save space, opt for folding and sliding structures, which increase the working area if necessary.
  • When choosing models that require fixing the device, consider the type of base of the load-bearing wall. It should be made of brick or concrete.
  • Pay attention to the complete set of goods, the more accessories, the better (rollers, clips). Competently selected elements provide stability and tightness of the structure to the wall.

  • When installing the dryer, choose a location with low air humidity. If the structure is installed in the bathroom, then place it away from the shower stall and bathtub.
  • Before using the dryer, wipe the surface of the product with a damp cloth, keep the structure clean. If it appears rusty or chipped, it is not recommended to dry your laundry on it, as it may become dirty or discolored.

Store dryers in a specially designated place with normal temperature and optimal moisture level. This is necessary to preserve the technical properties of the product. Let the garment dry well before folding it.

  • It is not recommended to often fold and unfold sliding and portable structures, because of this, loosening of the mechanism and failure of the dryer may occur.
  • To clean electrical appliances, a rag or a soft brush is used to clean the edges of the air ducts, the side walls of the dryer.

After finishing cleaning, wipe the surfaces of the unit with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive products or substances containing chlorine.

  • To avoid breakage of the floor models, hang heavy items on the edges of the dryer, they are stronger and able to withstand heavy loads.
  • When buying an electric dryer, pay attention to its fastening, as a rule, such models operate with a minimum noise level.

It is better if the device is equipped with a thermostat. The structures can only be mounted on a perfectly flat floor.

Warranty for clothes dryers - from 1 to 10 years, depending on the manufacturer. Free service is provided with a sales receipt or warranty card.

The presentation must be preserved.

If there is a defect, parts are replaced, the goods are completely replaced or repaired.

The warranty is not provided in such cases:

  • traces of structural wear are visible;
  • in case of improper use of the goods;
  • the instrument was repaired by non-specialists;
  • in case of deformation of the mount or the structure itself;
  • traces of mechanical damage are visible;
  • when exposed to chemicals;
  • when making design changes.

  1. When replacing parts or repairing floor units, pay attention to the distance between the slats (at least 7 cm). The larger the gaps between them, the longer the laundry will dry.
  2. If a spoke comes off on one side of the tumble dryer, bend the string a little more than 90 degrees, pull it tight and reinsert it into the hole.
  3. If the rope is stretched or broken, you should replace it with a new one (skeins of 20-60 meters are sold). You will need to untwist the structure, remove the tips and carefully pull out the rope.

  • If the motor does not run, restart the dryer. Switch off the device for 10 minutes, press the operation button.
  • Before starting repairs, disconnect the dryer from the power supply and disconnect the ground wire.
  • To clean the outlet, you will need to detach the ring from the hole and remove the fibers from the inner flap. We clean this place with a brush, remove various fibers from the hole.

If the outlet or tube is clogged, clear the clog, remove the connector near the hose or drill, and clean the clog.

  • We examine the gasket. To do this, hold the napkin near the doorway during the drying operation, if it flies, it is recommended to change the gasket. If the dryer does not work, clean the door latch and door handle.
  • We check the start button: remove the control panel, take a volt-ohm meter, apply it to two terminals, turn it off and press the power button.

If the arrow of the device changes position, then a replacement is needed. If the device reads 0, then the switch is not the problem.

  • Examine the thermostat. To do this, remove the rear panel of the dryer, attach the volt-ohm meter probes to each terminal on the device.
  • Replace the motor belt. We remove the front panel and drum from the body, remove the fibers with the help of. If the tensioner does not turn, replace it. If the motor is running and the drum is not spinning, wrap a new belt around the motor pulley.

Thanks to modern washing machines such as an automatic machine, washing clothes no longer requires much physical effort, and models with a built-in drying function completely eliminate the hassle of hanging the laundry.

However, competent housewives know that proper drying is the guarantor of easy ironing.

The laundry can dry properly only by hanging it, but residents of apartment buildings usually do not have enough space for this purpose.

Ropes for drying clothes in the bathroom, which were used by the older generation, are not relevant for a long time.

Therefore, such designs as a dryer for clothes in the bathroom are especially popular.

Varieties of devices

The main criterion in the manufacture of dryers is to ensure comfort in use.

But since the size of the bathrooms can vary significantly, the choice must be made taking into account the individual characteristics of the space.

There are several variations of tumble dryers for the bathroom:

  • Wall-mounted - they are fastened directly to the wall.
  • Liana - this model is mounted on the ceiling structure.
  • Mobile or floor dryers.
  • Active dryers are distinguished by feeding from the mains or from the heating system.

Drying in the bathroom wall

Wall-mounted models for drying clothes are the most popular, as their reliability has been proven over the years.

There are two types of construction:

Drum device. This design is complex.

It is a drum with fixing elements and a mechanism with springs.

For hanging, it is necessary to fix the end of the rope on a special bar, and fix the second part of it on a drum hidden in the box.

This model of drying in the bathroom can withstand a large amount of laundry (from 10 to 15 kg).

However, this device has some disadvantages.

Rapid wear of the ropes, due to constant tension, as well as possible defects in the spring mechanism (poor-quality springs quickly become unusable).

Hanger for drying clothes in the bathroom or telescopic cantilever mechanism.

This design consists of metal tubes or strips.

Such a drying is attached to any of the walls of the room. A positive quality of the hanger is the economy of space.

This is due to the fact that the dryer can be folded close to the wall.

However, there are also disadvantages, in particular the minimum load level - such a model can withstand only 5 to 7 kg.

Ceiling view of drying in the bathroom

For small bathrooms, as well as for rooms with high ceilings, you should choose a liana drying model.

Its design consists of a variety of ropes and hanging roller mechanisms.

The drying device consists of a metal frame attached to the ceiling. The rollers equipped with ropes are attached directly to the frame.

In turn, the ropes hold special tubes on which the laundry is hung, and with the help of rollers the tubes can be lowered or raised.

Today, similar models are made for wall mounting. The difference between wall and ceiling vines lies only in the method of attachment and the supporting structure.

Mobile or portable dryers

The most popular option for a floor dryer is a folding design that looks like an ironing board.

Also, quite often housewives choose dryers on wheels, which are easy to move from one room to another.

Both models are made of metal, and they are particularly robust and durable, because they have a simplified design without rollers, brackets or other fixtures.

Portable dryers include a model that resembles a book with special support bars. It is necessary to place such a drying on the bathroom itself, focusing on the edges of the container.

Active view of the bathroom dryer

This type is presented in the form of a heated towel rail mounted on the wall and heated by power supply from the mains or from the heating system.

Installation of this structure is not difficult, it also has a long service life, provided that the model is of high quality.

This applies to stationary dryers. Portable structures differ from stationary ones only in the way they are fed.

Before purchasing this or that model, you should familiarize yourself with the photo of the bathroom dryers in order to have a clear idea of which design to choose for yourself.

Dear visitors and visitors!

We have selected the 3 best options, you can return up to 30-40% from the cost of things purchased via the Internet (clothes, bags, shoes, whatever)!

Bath dryer

This is a folding metal or metal-plastic structure, consisting of a frame and rods. It is installed directly on the bathtub, after which the wash is hung on it. When the laundry is dry, the dryer is removed from the bath.

Advantages:

  • Takes up little space, allowing you to use it even in very small bathrooms.
  • Folds up and installs very quickly.
  • Water flowing down from damp laundry does not hit the floor, but goes into the bathtub.

Disadvantages:

  • It is impossible to place a large amount of laundry, as well as dry sheets and other dimensional accessories.
  • You cannot use the bathroom while the laundry is drying.

An example is the Eurogold 0505 model, which costs $ 9-10.

Wall model

Wall-mounted fixtures are available in various modifications:

  • They practically do not take up space.
  • Perfect for any bathroom design.
  • They are able to withstand a small weight of laundry, usually up to 10 kg. This is especially true for structures fixed to one wall.
  • Small usable area.

Ceiling dryer

Dryers, which are fixed to the ceiling, are mainly used for high ceilings. In this case, the hanging laundry will generally be out of sight.

Structurally, these dryers consist of plastic ceiling mounts with rollers. The rollers are used to move the rods. The number of rods used can vary from 4 to 6. Control of their lifting and lowering is carried out using ropes fixed to one of the walls. The rods are made from plastic coated metal or durable plastic.

Ceiling option advantages:

  • Able to remain invisible when not in use.
  • Withstand up to 20 kg of weight.
  • The lowering of the booms can be done so that it is convenient to work with them.

Disadvantages:

  • Suspended ceiling fixing may be difficult.
  • Hanging oversized linen can be uncomfortable while taking a bath.

As an example, we can cite the model of Belarusian manufacturers “Comfort Alumin 5P20”, which has a length of 2 m. Its cost is $ 51. But its Polish counterpart, the Familia model, which has a length of 160 cm, costs only $ 12.

Electric or battery ^

The drying rate of your laundry can be significantly accelerated by using devices with a heating function. This can be a free-standing stand with crossbars that is connected to the mains, or an attachment that is suspended from a warm battery. When using such devices, it is necessary to carefully monitor the temperature of their heating so as not to spoil the laundry.

The electric dryer can be purchased in various versions. The Chinese model "Luna AL" has good quality. Its cost is about $ 55.

Which one is better to choose? ^

To choose the right model for your bathroom, it is advisable to follow these guidelines:

  • Consider the dimensions of the bathroom. If the apartment and the bathroom itself are small, the preferred option would be to use a wall or ceiling dryer, as well as a structure that is installed on the bathtub. With a large bathroom, you can choose any option, including a floor-standing model.
  • Also, a lot depends on the pace and amount of washing. If the laundry is washed rarely, and in small portions, then a small device will be required.
  • Complexity of installation. The easiest is the case with a floor-standing model or with a structure installed on top of a bath or battery. It is more difficult to install the mounts on the walls. This will require a serious tool. And the greatest difficulty is the fastening of the structure to the ceiling. It is already difficult to do without the help of a master.
  • Know the features of the material from which the dryer is made. Aluminum devices are inexpensive and lightweight. However, aluminum is a brittle metal that can bend or even break over time. Steel products are more durable, but prone to corrosion, so it is important to ensure that they are protected with a protective coating. The best option would be stainless steel, which is durable, moisture resistant and attractive.
  • Availability of the necessary accessories and fasteners. A high-quality package includes a complete set for quick installation, as well as installation instructions.
