How to properly hide pipes in a bathroom or toilet: options and nuances. How to close the pipes in the toilet? How to close t

Many apartment owners in Soviet-built houses are lucky to some extent.

But all these options involve the use of materials that must be protected from the harmful effects of water and temperature extremes. There is, however, moisture resistant drywall.

But all other materials must be subjected to special processing so that over time they do not collapse from swelling or changes in geometric dimensions due to a change in temperature.

This can be achieved more easily when the pipes are closed once and for all. In this case, the temperature and humidity conditions on both sides are relatively constant, which means that its effect on materials is minimized.

But the problem is that there are times in life when you need to get access to the riser pipes.

In addition, at the points of connection to the risers of the internal wiring, shut-off valves are usually installed in order to be able to turn off the flow of water into the pipes when it is necessary to replace the faucet or mixer. When replacing the meter, you also have to turn off the water.

These conditions force to arrange in the structures that cover the pipes, special hatches or doors through which you can take readings from water metering devices and replace taps or water meters.

It is clear that the device of such hatches in a structure made of, and even glued with ceramic tiles, is a rather difficult task.

But there is one material that allows you to solve all these problems quite simply. These are plastic panels.

Light in the literal sense and easy to work with them, they are strong enough and chemically inactive. Plastic panels are quite affordable.

In addition, they themselves are an excellent finishing, decorative material. They do not need to be painted, pasted over or foil, and a wide variety of sizes and colors allows you to choose a pattern that goes well with the pattern of the material with which the rest of the walls of the room are decorated.

Range

Plastic panels are made from polyvinyl chloride, which is why they are also called PVC panels. In cross section, they have a cellular structure.

What are the advantages of plastic panels:

  • Air chambers give them sound insulating properties
  • They also reduce the thermal conductivity of the partitions from these panels.
  • Stiffening ribs give them mechanical strength
  • PVC service life exceeds 20 years
  • They are absolutely not afraid of water and sudden changes in temperature.
  • They do not support combustion and are absolutely safe for humans and the environment.

The thickness of the panels is usually 10 mm, less often 5 mm. They are available in different sizes in width. Panels 10 cm wide are called clapboard. The color of the lining is usually white, and the length is 3 meters.

Patterned or single-color panels are available in widths from 15 to 50 cm.

The most common sizes are 20–37 centimeters.

The length is 260, 270 and 300 cm.

The choice of size is one of the components of the answer to the question of how to close the pipes in the toilet with plastic panels. The photo below shows only a small part of the color palette in which PVC panels can be painted.

Moldings of various shapes are used to decorate the places where the panels are attached around the perimeter or at the joints and corners. As a rule, they are white, which is in perfect harmony with any color.

To work with plastic panels, you do not need any special devices, the same tools are enough that are used for metal processing, etc. The material of the panels makes it possible to give them any shape quite easily by means of heating.

They can be easily glued and welded. They can decorate both walls and ceilings at any angle of inclination. And, if you correctly and correctly prepare the frame around the pipelines and sheathe it with plastic panels, then you can only guess about the presence of pipes in the room.

Fastening elements

For the device of the frame on which the PVC panels will be attached, you can use a wooden bar. But in a humid room such as a bathroom and toilet, wood can eventually rot and mold can develop.

In order to avoid this, it is necessary to treat with special solutions. This process is quite time consuming and dirty, moreover, the required degree of protection is not always achieved with its help.

Fortunately, modern industry produces a wide variety of lightweight galvanized steel profiles and fasteners to them. For the installation of frames under plastic panels, a special profile is perfect.

Its length is usually 3 or 4 meters. The transverse dimension can be very different, starting from 20 x 20 mm.

And the section itself can also have a simple "P" -shaped appearance, as well as a complex one, with "shelves" and "grooves" along the planes. To connect individual parts to each other, manufacturers produce a variety of connecting parts for each type of profile.

But the most common fastener is the hanger.

In the "working" state, it is bent in the shape of the letter "P". The top "shelf" is used to attach fasteners to any supporting structure, and the rows of holes on the "legs" allow you to fix the profile at any distance from the base.

It is possible to fasten the frame elements to the walls and to each other with dowels and self-tapping screws.

Manufacturing jobs

Sometimes, asking himself the question of how to close the pipes in the toilet with his own plastic panels, a person does not quite imagine where to start and what one may encounter in the process of performing this simple task. Let's try to consider everything in order.

First of all, before starting to hide pipes, it is necessary to determine the state of these very pipes. It may well turn out that they require replacement.

And this problem is better solved before they are closed. Otherwise, according to the law of meanness, they can show their "character" immediately, as soon as the last detail of the covering that hides them is mounted.

This is especially necessary if the water supply pipes are still old, steel, and the sewer riser is still. And although cast iron is a fairly strong and reliable material, with a meticulous examination, it is possible to detect cracks and chips, which over time can bring many problems.

Therefore, it is best to replace the pipes of all risers with pipes made of new modern materials, at least within the limits of your floor. And it is best to negotiate with the neighbors and change the risers along the entire height of the house.

You should be ready for this and don't be surprised and upset. The author knows a case when a seemingly harmless desire to move an electrical outlet to a new location in one led to a complete redevelopment of a two-room apartment, an extension of a loggia (the apartment is on the ground floor) and the installation of stretch ceilings.

In the combined bathroom all the plumbing was replaced with a new one with a change of location, in the kitchen the sink took the place of the so-called "Khrushchev refrigerator".

Wooden window blocks gave way to plastic ones, and the piping of hot and cold water supply, as well as sewerage, was carried out according to a new scheme, for which it was necessary to open the entire floor in the bathroom and in the kitchen.

After the issue with the pipes is resolved, it will be necessary to determine how the structure that closes them will generally look like. The pipes themselves do not take up much space.

It all depends on the size and location where they are located. The riser can be installed in the corner, or it can be placed somewhere in the middle. Horizontal pipes are usually placed closer to the floor, one above the other.

It is necessary to take into account the location of stopcocks, metering devices for hot and cold water, as well as pipe connections between each other, in order to provide for the device of hatches for access to these places.

If the riser is placed in a wall with a smaller width, you can, without bothering yourself, close them with a false wall.

Or you can triple the "L" -shaped structure, which will hide the pipes behind it, and mount open shelves or a cabinet with doors in the resulting niche for storing various toilet and household stuff.

When the wall is wide and the pipes are in the corner, you can close them with the same "L" -shaped structure or hide them inside the triangle, where the legs are the sections of the main wall, and the hypotenuse is the false wall. The stand, placed closer to the middle of the wall, is closed with a "P" -shaped box.

To close horizontal pipes, a rectangular "sill" can be arranged along the wall. Alternatively, the structure of this "sill" can be raised to the level of the washbasin, and in the empty one above the pipes, you can equip the shelves.

After thinking about these points, you can attend to the presence of building materials and tools:

  • PVC panels and moldings
  • Profile
  • Fasteners, suspensions
  • Self-tapping screws, dowels
  • Hacksaw for metal or "grinder"
  • Hammer drill and screwdriver
  • Hammer, carpenter's knife and metal shears
  • Roulette, level, plumb
  • Corner, ruler, paper and pencil
  • First you need to decide on the size of the profile. It must be understood that the plastic panels will be adjacent to the "shelf". Consequently, the higher the "legs", the greater the volume of the structure, and hence its perimeter will be larger. In this case, it may turn out that even 1 extra centimeter will force you to buy an additional PVC panel.
  • Now you need to determine the place where the pipes protrude deeply into the room. Using a plumb line, this point is fixed on the floor. This will be the benchmark. It is more convenient to calculate and mark the entire structure from it. Everyone knows how pipes vibrate when someone turns on a faulty tap. If the frame is close to the pipes, then the entire plastic wall will vibrate. Therefore, you need to retreat from the benchmark by 1 cm towards the intended plane of the fence, then add the height of the profile and the thickness of the PVC panel. The resulting mark will indicate the location of the front surface of the false wall or box. Further, using a tape measure and a ruler, a plan of the fence is drawn on the floor. In the places of abutment to the existing walls, a line is drawn on them using a level and a plumb line, where the wall of the fence under construction will be joined to them. Then the same plan is drawn on the ceiling as on the floor. The markup is ready.
  • The markings on the floor are the perimeter. By dividing the obtained value by the estimated width of the PVC panel, you can find out the number of panels that you need to buy. As mentioned above, they come in different widths, so it will be easy to calculate the required amount so as to minimize unnecessary costs. The length of the panels is determined by the distance between the floor and the ceiling. It remains to take a ride through the shops of building materials and buy everything you need.
  • The profile is attached to walls, floors, etc. with dowels. Here we must not forget to retreat from the “face” to the pipes by 12-14 mm, depending on the thickness of the plastic panels and taking into account the thickness of the molding wall. Now, using scissors for metal or a "grinder", you need to cut out the jumpers of the required length and screw them with one end to the profile fixed on the walls, the other to the profile installed in the places where the corners of the box will be. If the box is in the form of the letter "G", then the frame is ready. If it is in the form of the letter "P", then all that remains is to cut and install jumpers between the outer corners of the box. When installing jumpers, one must not forget about the places where doors or hatches will be arranged for access to taps and meters.
  • The "starting" molding is screwed to the entire perimeter with self-tapping screws.
  • The outer corner is formed by the "outer corner". The inner corner, if any, is the "inner corner". If it is necessary to join the panels, a connecting molding is used.
  • Now it remains to carefully insert the PVC panels into the grooves of the moldings. With a hacksaw for metal or a "grinder" you can cut off the excess. If you suddenly want to mount the panels not vertically, but horizontally, then it is preferable to insert them into place so that the panels are directed upwards and the groove downwards. This will prevent water from entering the groove and the formation of mold there.
  • Think over the design of hatches or doors and their fastening yourself. This can be a door on awnings, and a hatch with magnets.

That, however, is all. You can clean up the trash and admire the work done. Pipes no longer spoil the look of the bathroom.

How to close the riser with panels - in the video:

Water pipes and a sewer riser, although they are necessary communications, do not add aesthetics to the room. The question of how to sew pipes in the toilet with plastic panels is relevant for apartment owners. If you want to successfully cope with this task, you can do it yourself, you just need to adhere to a number of recommendations described below.

Competent choice of materials

The main criterion for choosing finishing materials to disguise communications in the house is their environmental safety, corrosion resistance and ease of installation.

Among modern finishing materials for masking pipes, the following are most often used:

  • plastic panels;
  • moisture resistant plywood;
  • MDF panels;
  • moisture resistant drywall.

Not the least important are the decorative properties of the material, which provide a harmonious combination of cladding with the overall design of the room.

Deciding to hide the pipes in the bathroom with plastic panels, you can not only simplify the installation process, but also facilitate the subsequent care of the casing and its quick dismantling if necessary.

The installation plan will help to determine the required number of plastic panels, connecting strips and corners. To do this, armed with a tape measure, they measure the niche, taking into account the location of the pipes, choosing the best design option for themselves. When calculating the total number of panels, about 20% is added to the calculated value for cuts.

To cover pipes in the toilet with plastic panels, you must prepare:

  • plastic panels;
  • starting profile and guide profiles for the frame;
  • fasteners (dowel-nails, screws, screws);
  • building level;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • assembly knife;
  • screwdriver and screwdriver;
  • puncher.

At this stage, access to valves and water meters should be provided in order to equip small doors in these places during the installation process.

The size of the opening should be such that it is convenient to carry out plumbing work

Plastic panel mounting technology

Regardless of the choice of finishing material, before starting work, it is necessary to check the pipes for defects: examine the connections for leaks, check the operability of the transition elements.

Preparing the supporting frame

Having completed the sketch with the exact indication of the attachment points of the frame elements, they proceed to the installation of the structure. There are two ways to seal the pipes in the toilet with plastic panels:

  • partial closure - hide only communications;
  • "Blind" hiding - arrangement of a false wall, the plane of which is aligned with the surface of the base wall, hiding the traces of the presence of communications behind it.

Having chosen the best way to close the niche, the first thing to do is mark the attachment points of the guide profiles. Fitting aluminum profiles can be done using a metal hacksaw.

Attaching the guide profiles to the marking, fix them by drilling holes every 30-40 cm and inserting dowel-nails into them.

UD-profile should be fixed as tightly as possible, without gaps and voids

The frame made of a metal profile, if desired, can be replaced with wooden strips, using panel brackets as fasteners. But in this case, in order to extend the service life of the structure, wooden elements should first be treated with moisture-repellent impregnations. And even after processing the slats of a wooden frame, they can expand from moisture, cuts in the beams will help prevent the formation of cracks.

Important: when deciding to hide communications in the bathroom, it should be borne in mind that access to the ventilation window must remain open. This can be done by installing decorative ventilation grilles.

Having completed the crate of the frame, it is advisable to treat the walls to be covered with a primer that has moisture-repellent properties. Masters recommend using formulations with antibacterial substances for this purpose, which prevent the appearance of mold and mildew.

The sound of water flowing through the sewer pipes is often a source of concern to the owners. Soundproofing will help to solve this problem. As a cost savings, experienced builders recommend using cardboard egg storage trays for this, which have excellent noise retention properties.

Sheathing panels are applied to the guide profiles and fixed with self-tapping screws "flea beetles"

Sheathing with plastic panels

When the skeleton of the structure is assembled, you can start lining the pipes in the toilet with plastic panels. Having installed the corners and limit switches on the profiles, the installation of the panels begins with them. This approach allows you to prevent possible distortions and irregularities. The protective film from PVC sheets can be removed after installing the panels.

Installation of plastic panels can be done simply by gluing them to the crate. But for this you can use only special "liquid nails", which do not contain a solvent that can damage the plastic surface. It is applied pointwise at the corners of the frame and on the slats every 20-30 cm.

Tip: to get the required dimensions of the elements, the panels can be carefully cut with the same metal hacksaw. But when cutting sheets, be sure to wear safety glasses.

Subsequent panels are inserted as tightly as possible into one another, placing the comb in the direction of movement, and fixed to the profiles. When joining the panels, each ridge must fully enter the groove.

Video advice for installing a plastic box under pipes in the bathroom

Plastic panels are a good choice for finishing water and sewer pipes. By choosing this method of cladding, you can obtain the desired aesthetic effect without disrupting the performance of the system.

The question is how to close the pipes in the toilet, the owners of real estate are interested even at the stage of planning the renovation. People want any room in their apartment to be not only functional, but also beautiful. Modern technologies for cladding various surfaces provide an extensive selection of ways with which you can beautifully and practically hide vertical and horizontal lines intended for drainage. There are many options for how to close the pipes in the toilet using various materials and technologies.

There are 50 mm pipes along the back wall of the bathroom, through which drains from the bathroom or kitchen are discharged. Even modern aesthetic plastic products will not decorate a room that shines with a new finish. They can be hidden in various ways, depending on the structural features and the layout of the building.

You can use the following options for masking horizontal communications:

  1. Place them in a niche in the stove. If there is no such niche, then you can do it yourself using a grinder and a punch. First, you need to clarify the thickness of the floor slab. If it is too thin, then the longitudinal niche can weaken its load-bearing capacity. After laying the sewerage, the strobe is filled with starting or finishing putty.
  2. Cover communications with tiles. Depending on the design, the finish used to cover the floor or the one planned for the walls. In order to facilitate the subsequent replacement of pipes, it is not recommended to fill them completely with cement mortar.

It is necessary to close the drains in such a way that they can be quickly reached in the event of an emergency or for repairs.

Methods for closing the sewer riser

Pondering, how to close a sewer pipe in a toilet, you need to take into account a number of nuances.

You need to take into account that this is a public building. On each floor, risers are equipped with inspection hatches to eliminate blockages. These hatches must be accessible to public utilities at any time.

There is a water supply next to the riser. It is equipped with shut-off valves and meters that must be open to take readings. They cannot be sealed tightly.

If the sewage system is to be replaced in the near future, then it makes no sense to build a capital structure to mask the risers. You can use a lightweight temporary structure or a removable fixture that does not need to be destroyed during repairs.

It is worth considering options for closing the riser, which have been tested by time and have earned positive feedback from the masters and their clients.

Sheathing of the riser with plasterboard

The simplest, but not the fastest, way to camouflage a toilet riser is to make a drywall box. This material is widely used today in all areas of construction and repair.

Cover the pipes in the toilet with drywall maybe even a novice craftsman, using the minimum set of household tools that is in every apartment.

To work you will need:

  • puncher;
  • scissors for metal;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • level;
  • hammer;
  • thin knife;
  • serpyanka mesh;
  • putty;
  • primer.

It is necessary to equip the plasterboard box only when the floor and walls are finished. For the construction of the frame, it is better to use a metal profile, since a wooden beam can deform over time.

The plating of the sewer riser is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Floor and wall markings. Drilling holes for attaching the guide rail.
  2. Assembling the frame. The sequence of this event, regardless of the configuration of the box, is one - the installation of vertical racks and their connection with jumpers from the bearing profiles.
  3. Sheathing of the frame with plasterboard. Blanks are made by notching along the marking line. After that, the desired fragment is broken off. The workpieces are screwed in with a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. The edges of the drywall strips should be fastened to the profiles at intervals of 10-15 cm.
  4. GKL box putty. When the mortar is dry, it is treated with a deep penetration primer. If the box is being prepared for painting, then its surfaces are polished.
  5. Arrangement of doors or inspection hatches. The door is made in the place where the inspection hole is located. Instead of it, you can equip the plug by using a ventilation grill. It is better to close the meter and ball valve with a light door made of plastic.

The manufactured box can be faced with ceramic tiles, painted and pasted over with wallpaper. The disadvantage of this choice is that if it is necessary to replace the pipes, the structure will have to be broken without the possibility of restoration.

Closing the sewer riser with plastic

Cover the pipes in the toilet with plastic panels it is possible using a frame or connecting strips directly to the walls and to each other. The advantage of choosing this material is the ease of processing and installation, the ability to quickly dismantle when a production need arises. Another advantage of using plastic panels is the complete absence of wet works and debris during the installation process. A certain disadvantage is the difficulty in choosing the right color and shade of plastic, so that it is combined with the wall decoration of the toilet.

Consider the options for manufacturing a frame and frameless box:

The frame version is used in cases where the internal volume of the toilet is sufficient for the construction of spatial structures. In order to make a frame for PVC panels, you can use a steel profile or profile. Since plastic is a flexible material, it is not affected by changes in the shape of the tree from moisture or drying out. Therefore, you can choose the material for the frame based on your preferences and existing experience.

To make a plastic box you will need:

  • puncher;
  • level;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • stationery knife;
  • marker;
  • wooden beams or steel profiles;
  • plastic profiles (starting, external and internal corner).

Do not use brackets to attach panels to the frame. In a humid environment, the metal is destroyed in 2-3 years. It is better to use self-tapping screws equipped at the ends with drills for screwing in.

The work is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. A drawing of the box is drawn up. The calculation of building materials is carried out.
  2. Markings are applied to walls, floors and ceilings. Holes are drilled into which plastic dowels are inserted.
  3. The side posts of the frame are attached to the walls. If the riser is in the corner, then the center post is attached. It is fixed to the ceiling and floor slabs using metal corners.

  4. A starting plastic profile is attached to the frame with self-tapping screws. Depending on the project, decorative skirting boards can be used.
  5. Adjustment of the plastic panels in length and width is carried out. It is best to cut them with a sharp clerical knife. It should be cut 3-4 mm more from the obtained distance based on the thickness of the profile walls.
  6. The panels are installed in the cavity of the plastic profiles. When assembling the corner structure, the edges of the panels are screwed to the central support and closed with a polymer or MDF corner. You can make a non-rigid mount in the outer corner.

The made box is beautiful and looks neat. It can be easily and quickly disassembled for service or repair.

The frameless method of masking the riser is used when working in very tight spaces, in which the sewer is located in one of the corners. As a rule, it is not possible to attach supports for the frame due to the toilet cistern. In this case, the starter profiles are screwed directly to the tile. The panels are inserted into the contour formed by them and fixed at the junction with brackets or long self-tapping screws. The joint is glued with a corner made of plastic or MDF. The design has sufficient strength and reliability.

Covering up the riser with blinds and roller shutters

The use of roller shutters, horizontal and roller blinds, allows you to solve the problem of masking the sewer riser and water supply quickly, beautifully and effectively.

The advantages of this solution are obvious:

  • high speed of work execution;
  • significant space savings;
  • the ability to obtain full or partial access to communications;
  • beauty and lightness of design;
  • relatively low installation cost.

A certain disadvantage of blinds is that they darken over time and have insufficient strength (especially steel). This problem can be solved by installing plastic structures that are durable, fade and corrosion resistant.

It should be remembered that roller shutters and blinds do not provide complete insulation. They cannot be used as a partition between the toilet and a common shaft through which plumbing communications pass.

In order for the blinds to look presentable, you need to make a box through which the pipes will pass. It is advisable to install taps and meters there. The free space can be used to install shelves where you can store household chemicals, tools and fishing accessories. Roll shutters will look much more presentable, as their design provides for rigid fixation, not only from above, but also from the sides. Accordingly, the service life of such a device will be much longer than that of conventional window blinds.

The communication pipes in the washroom are not very nice looking. They spoil the look of the bathroom and fall out of the overall design. Closing the pipes in the toilet will improve the environment. The hidden sewer system does not spoil the atmosphere and hides the entire unpleasant drainage system from the eyes.

Piping to close the pipes in the toilet

The pipes are masked in the following way. It all depends on the size of the bathroom, and how the drain system goes. If the size of the toilet reaches 15 meters, then all communication can be hidden behind a false panel. But for small rooms this number will not work.

In apartment buildings, everything is much simpler. The entire bathroom looks like a single drain pipe, which is located neatly in the corner on all floors. All other communications are connected in parallel with it. Therefore, only the drain needs to be closed. The rest of the pipes will not interfere with the overall decor.

An additional problem is water meters, collectors and other devices connected to the general water supply system.

To do this, you have to install special partitions so that they hide all communication systems and at the same time provide access to equipment:

  • a country house during the renovation, you should take care of disguise in advance. They are partially hidden in the walls, which makes all the rest of the work easier;
  • the main units are designed with special hatches through which easy access is provided;
  • a separate room is being designed for all equipment. There will be a water heating boiler, filters, water meters, etc .;
  • multi-storey buildings, this option will not work, because The housing office will not give permission to chisel the walls.

Preliminary work

Before starting the masking procedure, you must complete all the preliminary work:

  1. System health. Be sure to check the general condition of the pipes. Are there any leaks, holes, chips. If this moment is ignored, then the entire disguise will have to be disassembled and reassembled;
  2. Disguise method. When all the problems have been eliminated, a masking method is needed (chipping walls, creating a bezel, etc.);
  3. Open access to working elements. Valves, bends, manifolds, important nodal connections must be easily accessible. For this, boxes, hatches, etc. are used. Or they are simply taken outside;
  4. Subtleties. Pay attention to detail. For example, you should not close the entire wall if the communication goes below. It is enough to make the usual threshold. But for pipes that stretch in a niche, it is better to use a bezel;
  5. Scheme. Before installation, it is recommended to develop a sketch, which will take into account all the elements of the future.

How pipes are covered with plastic panels

Plastic is a practical and flexible material. It is easy to cut, melt and strip. The advantages of plastic:

  • short term for panel installation;
  • light weight of the material;
  • high level of noise insulation;
  • a large selection of colors and finishing materials;
  • small price;
  • long service life.

The thickness of the material does not exceed one centimeter. Measure the length and width of the required sheet accurately.

To make the joints of two sheets look even, they are sealed with moldings of various shapes and sizes. They are painted white and do not stand out from other colors. Plastic can be given any shape. It is malleable, so it is connected with a soldering iron or put on glue.

It is not necessary to hide the entire wall. With the help of plastic, you can make a threshold if all communication goes from below. To mount plastic panels, you must have a tool:

  1. construction level;
  2. construction knife;
  3. profile;
  4. screwdriver (but better than a screwdriver);
  5. plastic panels.

Disguising the water supply using drywall is carried out in exactly the same way. Only the material must be selected moisture-resistant, and the sheets are fixed with press washers and adhesive tape (joints).

A variety of pipes and options for their camouflage

Regardless of the room, pipes can be cast from cast iron or plastic. Cast iron is distinguished by high strength, long service life, but the price of the products is very high, installation is difficult, and if it breaks down, it will be difficult to repair the pipe on your own.

Plastic is a popular material due to its ease of installation. But the service life of plastic pipes is much lower than that of cast iron. If you change cast iron pipes to a plastic analogue, the wall thickness of plastic pipes is much less than that of cast iron.

Depending on the type of pipes, the area of the toilet, the system can be disguised as follows:

  1. Open way. The entire system is hidden from view, but it is in the public domain;
  2. Closed type. All types of communication are completely hidden. The toilet looks more decent. But, as already mentioned, for multi-storey buildings, not all methods of a closed version are suitable.

How to close the pipes in the toilet with your own hands

There are many ways to hide the sewage system. You just need to choose the one that suits your bathroom.

Closing with a box

The easiest way to hide all protruding bathrooms. It is easy to install and does not require any special skills. The material used is drywall (it is recommended to choose a moisture-resistant option) or plastic.

A profile is used as a finish. There are wood or metal options. But for a toilet where moisture is constantly collected, it is better to use a metal version. The metal version is divided into:

  • a guiding contour, which is attached to the four main corners (at least ten centimeters from the communications);
  • the wall version reinforces the supporting structure.

If the height of the box is less than one meter. As soon as the frame is mounted, the panel is installed directly on the box using self-tapping screws.

The box is a universal solution for masking pipes. We turn on our imagination and imagine how it will be possible to refine it externally. The surface is covered with tiles, or pasted over with water-repellent wallpaper. To build a box that hides pipes in the toilet, you must:

  • mark and install the frame (the distance should be at least ten centimeters from the communications);
  • we strengthen the frame with a transverse profile if it exceeds two meters;
  • we sheathe the outer side of the structure with a profile.

This method has one drawback. The box is not suitable for small rooms.

Oblique false wall

The small size of the toilet allows you to hide the sewer in certain places. That is, it is not necessary to create a solid panel for this, you can hide one pipe element.

When installing an oblique false wall, you must use the following rules:

  • at the end of the work, the panels should not touch the sewer nodes;
  • the outer side of the wall must be either removable or equipped with doors or inspection hatches.

Multilevel box

A combined solution to the problem when it is necessary to partially place the plumbing units in a rectangular box, and partially hide the pipes under oblique or small boxes. In this case, the horizontal surfaces can be used as shelves for household items.

Sanitary cabinet

A handy device that saves a lot of space. The cabinet hides all communication, while leaving space for storing household chemicals. If there are small children or animals in the house, the door is equipped with a padlock or mortise lock.

We take any material as a basis. Plasterboard, laminated boards or wood will do. For cladding we use: wallpaper, tiles, etc.

The doors are chosen to match the locker. Be sure to cut the water pipe holes before installing. The option is somewhat similar to the previous method and is not suitable for small-sized washrooms.

Blinds (roller shutters)

Blinds not only provide an aesthetic appearance, but also offer full access to the entire sewer system. They save time during installation, leave virtually no debris, and add elegance to the washroom. But the price of blinds is much higher than buying plastic or drywall.

Before installing any system, carefully check the integrity and operability of all plumbing fixtures. Because if the pipe leaks, then you have to remove all the masking and deal with the problem. To install the blinds as a disguise, the following guidelines should be followed.

  1. the walls between the roller shutters must be flat;
  2. the height of the opening should not mow;
  3. installation is carried out either before or after the wall cladding (it does not matter).

To mask the water supply system, you can use more than one roller shutter.

Slitting procedure

Suitable only for country houses. In high-rise buildings, they will not give permission for such a procedure. All the wiring is hidden under the wall, through the punched grooves.

Only a plumber can do the slitting. To do this, use either a chasing cutter or a perforator. Special grooves are carefully made in the walls, where all the plumbing units are hidden. We recommend using the described method for direct wiring.

This procedure has many advantages, but there are certain rules that each employee must follow.

  1. It is forbidden to use chipping in load-bearing walls;
  2. To hide pipes behind walls, only solid or brazed options should be used. Compulsory access is required to joints, connections and important parts of the pipeline;
  3. It is forbidden to carry out gating in those places where the wiring passes;
  4. When forming the size of the groove, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarity of the expansion of the laid material;
  5. Use hose clamps charmingly to insulate the system;
  6. If necessary, the pipes are wrapped with heat-insulating material.
  7. Don't forget about anti-odor drain pipes.

Keep the wiring diagram under the walls so that you know where the wiring system goes during renovations.

External disguise of communications

If the pipes do not interfere with the main decor, they are not hidden under the overall boxes and are not mounted in the walls. Copper options can fit into the surrounding interior and do not stand out from the general background.

For industrial or steampunk designs, pipes will, on the contrary, add a kind of alternative reality element. In this case, access to the pipes is free. In the event of a breakdown, they can be replaced or patched. But the external piping is very expensive and there is a risk of scalding when touching the hot pipe.

The masking of pipes depends on the size of the room, the type of sewage system and the preferences of the owner of the apartment. Regardless of the installation option, all preliminary work is carried out first to identify problems with the pipeline, and only then the installation work begins. For a country house, it is better to use the principle of slitting, and for apartment buildings, all plumbing is hidden under plastic or plasterboard boxes.

On a relatively modest toilet area, there are always many sewer junctions. Any technical units do not look aesthetically pleasing and give the impression of an unfinished repair. Therefore, the question often arises of how to hide the pipes in the toilet and give the interior an attractive look.

Where to begin?

Before hiding the pipes in the toilet, you need to carefully inspect the riser and other communications for damage, and eliminate them if necessary. It is necessary to start preparing drawings and calculating the material for the future structure after solving all technical issues. For an accurate calculation of raw materials, it is necessary to carefully make all measurements of the area on which the work will be carried out.

Hardware stores offer a wide variety of finishes, but whatever you have to work with, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdrivers;
  • drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • building level and tape measure;
  • a saw for plastic or a knife for cutting drywall;
  • scissors to cut a metal profile;
  • self-tapping screws and fasteners for a profile.

Material selection

If you need to hide communications quickly, PVC panels will be the best choice. It is a cheap and versatile finish. The main thing is to choose a color and pattern that will harmoniously fit into the overall picture of the interior.

Plastic panels have several advantages:

  • safe for health and the environment;
  • installation of panels is not difficult;
  • installation is possible as soon as possible;
  • acceptable price;
  • the ability to install a hatch to access meters or places where a leak may appear;
  • the ability to create a structure consisting of separate parts;
  • no additional finishing required.

And also quickly and inexpensively you can close the riser with plasterboard. The humidity in the toilet is not as high as in the bathroom, but it is better to use a moisture-resistant type of material.

Drywall has all the benefits of panels. In contrast, this material requires additional finishing. But such a disadvantage can be regarded as an advantage: drywall without finishing can be used under tiles or any other decorative finish. Thus, the wall behind which the pipes are located will be indistinguishable from other walls in the toilet.

Design options

The design that will hide the communications is selected depending on some factors:

  • the size and nature of the direction of the pipes;
  • the location of the pipes relative to each other;
  • the presence of auxiliary devices and cranes;
  • the general environment in the room.

Having analyzed these features, it will be easy to determine the type of future design. The most common are several popular types.

Box

It is a simple design that even a beginner can handle. The frame is created from metal profiles or wooden slats. Next, the base is sheathed with the material that was chosen. Full or partial sheathing is possible, depending on the availability of metering devices or cranes near the riser. In this case, it is necessary to leave the window in order to be able to access them.

The frame of the box can be sheathed with PVC panels, moisture-resistant plywood or drywall. Drywall is usually decorated with the same materials as the main walls. There are ready-made options for the box. But this option may be more expensive. Making a box yourself, it is possible to immediately take into account all the nuances. While the finished box will have to be adjusted to the desired parameters.

The box design is presented in several configurations.

  • False wall. A good solution is to hide several pipes located next to each other at once. It looks aesthetically pleasing, but takes up a lot of space.
  • Square. It can be positioned both vertically and horizontally, hiding the fan pipe. Suitable for rooms with pipes in the corner.
  • Slanting false wall. The middle version between the previous ones. The structure is attached at an acute angle to the side or rear wall. Just like a false wall, it allows you to hide several pipes, but significantly saves space.
  • Multilevel. Installed in the case of a chaotic arrangement of pipes in the toilet. To save space, boxes are created in places where communications are localized.

Built-in sanitary cabinet

A structure with doors on the wall behind the toilet is called a sanitary cabinet.

Using this method of camouflage, several problems are solved at once.

  • An additional niche appears for shelves where cleaning agents and accessories can be stored.
  • The presence of doors does not impede access to meters, filters, manifolds and piping.
  • In the event of a pipe break, the cabinet will not obstruct access to the accident site. Replacing metering devices in a toilet with a sanitary cabinet will not be inconvenient.

The choice of material for the manufacture of doors is large enough. Plywood, PVC panels, chipboard, metal, wood or glass doors are especially popular. You need to choose a material that will fit into the overall style of the interior. For example, in a toilet decorated with plastic, plastic doors will be appropriate. And for a country wooden house, wooden doors are suitable.

Do not forget about the convenience of the location of the doors in the cabinet. They should be located at a suitable height so as not to obstruct access to the desired pipe junctions. The handles on the doors should also be suitable.

The installation of swing leaves in the sanitary cabinet takes place, like any other door, they are fixed on hinges to the base. Ordinary doors are suitable for a spacious toilet. It is better to equip closer rooms with compact accordion doors, sliding models or a curtain.

Concealed installation - chipping

Chamfering is an alternative to decorative types of pipe camouflage. With hidden routing, it is assumed that parts are sewn in specially punched grooves, which are called grooves. Such technological holes are made using a chasing cutter or a perforator. Pipes hidden in the floor screed also belong to the hidden laying. In this case, the wiring is poured with a concrete solution.

The main advantage of this type of camouflage is its aesthetics. Communications are completely hidden in the wall. Except for the riser, the diameter of which is too large and cannot be embedded in the wall. The advantages include the complete safety of pipes, their damage during hidden installation is impossible. Significant space savings are also a plus.

The weak side of the method is the labor intensity, cost and inaccessibility of pipes. You can sew up the pipes yourself, but you have to study a lot of literature to get everything right. Covert installation is not possible everywhere. The method will be good in private houses built of bricks or solid blocks, as well as in multi-storey buildings with thicker walls. Elsewhere, this method will run counter to SNIPs. The grooves significantly weaken the load-bearing walls, which are already heavily loaded.

Certain requirements may significantly complicate the installation:

  • only one-piece pipes can be sewn up, others need free access;
  • in the wall on which work will be carried out, electrical wires must not pass;
  • it is necessary to take into account the linear expansion of the pipe material;
  • you have to use clamps in order to have good sound insulation.

We hide beautifully

It is not always convenient to close pipes with auxiliary materials. In some cases, there is not enough space for complex structures, or the time for repairs in the toilet may be limited. Sometimes it is enough to simply decorate the pipes, when we close the communications with a partition, access to them is difficult, and this can cause inconvenience.

Outdoor placement of communications

The pipes can be left in plain sight and not decorated if they look beautiful on their own. For example, metal communications in combination with plumbing from the same material are perfectly combined and fit into the interior of a loft, techno or high-tech washroom. In a toilet with such a setting, they will become a source of pride. But such pipes are expensive, in addition, there is a possibility of getting burned.

Therefore, you can beautifully beat the usual communications:

  • cover with paint that matches the general color scheme of the toilet;
  • decorate with unusual patterns, while you can use special stencils;
  • sheathe with beautiful stones, braid, glass;
  • disguise with artificial plants or make the pipes themselves in the form of trees: the toilet will resemble an impenetrable jungle or dense forest;
  • glue the pipes with various stickers or stickers;
  • if you show your imagination, then you can use material that is usually recycled, for example, metal lids from carbonated drinks, and in addition to the unusual design of pipes, it would be appropriate to make a small panel from the same material.

Decorating pipes is a convenient way to hide communications. All parts of the communications are in plain sight, you can always check their condition and, if necessary, make repairs or replacements.

Blinds

The disguise thus resembles a false wall. But it is not a wall that is created, but a curtain. It can be collapsed if necessary.

Blinds advantages:

  • by closing the pipes in this way, a lot of time is saved;
  • during installation, a lot of garbage is not created;
  • the service life of the blinds is long;
  • the price is small;
  • the niche behind the blinds is convenient to use for storage;

  • the design is compact both open and closed, it will not interfere, at the same time, open blinds provide full access to meters and taps;
  • the choice of material is very large: from inexpensive and versatile plastic to expensive and specific wood and metal, but due to high humidity, fabric options are not recommended for use in the toilet;
  • the assortment is replete with a variety of colors and patterns, it will not be difficult to choose the right ones;
  • in case of damage or loss of appearance, there is no need to replace the entire structure, it will be enough to replace the damaged lamellas;
  • they can replace the screen under the bathtub or become a partition covering the washing machine if it is located in a niche.
