How to make a beautiful porch. Design of a porch of a veranda or a terrace of a country house: interesting ideas (57 photos)

The overall appearance of its facade largely depends on how harmoniously and beautifully the porch of a country house will be decorated. Street stairs in the country can be made of a variety of materials - poured from concrete, welded from metal or assembled from wood.

Basically, depending on this, the methods of decorating them are chosen. Of course, the design features of the exterior of the building must also be taken into account. We will talk about what the design of the porch should be in this article.

Porch exterior and interior design

Country porches can have a very different design, and, accordingly, a very different design. Sometimes it is a small ladder a few steps in front of the house. Sometimes it is part of a large veranda or even a terrace that encircles the building. The style of the porch, as already mentioned, directly depends on the style of the building itself:

What should be the style of a beautiful street staircase

The design of the porch of an elite private house with a modern design is often performed using materials such as glass, plastic and chrome-plated metal. Street staircases of classic-style summer cottages are usually decorated with tiles. Sometimes forging is also used as a decoration. The country houses are often complemented by beautiful wooden carved staircases.

The decoration of the porch of a wooden house, in the event that it is necessary to preserve the natural structure of the wood, is performed using a special transparent oil instead of paint.

Original design ideas

The design of this porch of the cottage has successfully combined wood and natural stone. The modern lantern present in the decoration of the parapet only emphasizes the naturalness and extraordinary beauty of seemingly simple materials.

The original unusual design of concrete stairs:

The design of this small street staircase, in spite of the absence of railings and all sorts of decoration delights, is very elegant and at the same time austere. The architecture of the march itself is interesting here, and in particular the unusual shape of the steps.

In general, when choosing a design for a front porch, you just need to show a little imagination:

A beautiful porch of a private house can be decorated in different ways. Any outdoor staircase provides its owner with the widest field for the manifestation of imagination in the design.

The steps of a concrete staircase are most often faced with ceramics and stone (natural or artificial). This design option for the porch of a concrete or brick building is just perfect. Steps when choosing such a design should be trimmed with beautiful rough tiles without a relief pattern.

A beautiful porch of a wooden house can also be decorated in different ways. Most of the owners of summer cottages still prefer not to hide the natural structure of this material. The steps of beautiful wooden street stairs are often simply coated with a special oil.

The painted wood steps of the entrance porch also look nice. For example, stairs with alternating colors look very elegant. In this case, the design is done using usually dark shades. Light colors are used in design at most only when the style of the building itself requires it.

Note: White stair treads are very harmoniously combined with either white railings or parapets, in the event that their design contains a dark gray stone.

Firing is also very interesting.

The steps of a metal staircase in a private house are most often sheathed with wood. However, sometimes they can also be made of sheet metal.

This option is quite aesthetic, but when designing a high steep porch, it is better not to use it. Wet or icy metal can be quite slippery.

How to build a beautiful original staircase. Railing design

The question of how to decorate the porch of a house comes down to, among other things, how to decorate its railings. Often this very element becomes a real "highlight" of the staircase design. If desired, both vertical balusters and horizontal crossbars of an interesting beautiful shape can be used in their design.

Sometimes they are replaced with artistic filling. It can be openwork forging or a beautiful through wood carving. Of course, such a design is unlikely to be suitable for modern-style concrete buildings. In their design, it is better to use balusters or crossbars of a simple cylindrical shape made of galvanized steel.

Beautiful porches. Photo options with forged and galvanized railings

Railing handrails are most often made of wood or plastic. The first option is more suitable for the design of the stairs of a chopped, cobbled or frame village building. The design of the porch of a concrete or brick country house is often performed using plastic. The handrails from it look very good in combination with the galvanized metal parts of the street stairs. The porch railings of modern stone buildings can also be solid, beautiful monolithic concrete or brick structures. In the first case, they are usually decorated with the same tiles or stone as the steps.

The parapets of the stairs of brick buildings can be made of beautiful facing bricks of different shades or from ordinary ones. In the latter case, their surface is often plastered.

How to make a beautiful visor design

The visor can be attached either directly to the wall above the entrance, or rest on the elongated supports of the country porch. The design of the canopies on the posts usually follows the design of the railings. The visor itself is most often made of profiled sheet, wood or polycarbonate.

A beautiful porch to a wooden house, the design of which should be developed taking into account the peculiarities of the exterior of such buildings, is often complemented by a canopy sheathed with a board. The latter can be carved or painted. The awnings of street stairs in concrete and brick houses are usually made of either profiled sheeting or translucent white or colored polycarbonate.

Wooden canopies can have not only a gable or single-slope, but also an arched or even domed shape.

As for the form itself, it is selected based on the features of the roof structure. So in combination with a gable roof, a gable canopy will look good. Beautiful triangular canopies "houses", as well as arched structures, are suitable for gable roofs. The hipped roof will look harmoniously with a round domed or hipped hipped roof.

Original ideas for the design of steps, railings and a visor

The structural elements of the front porches of private houses can often be completely unusual. Look, for example, at this construction:

Unusually beautiful design in the Russian style with steps made of logs

This is certainly not a porch. But who prevents lovers of everything original and unusual from making the steps of a wooden street staircase near the house precisely from wide logs? A DIY march with such a design will turn out to be both beautiful and inexpensive.

Combining polycarbonate and forged or cast metal, you can make a visor over the porch of a very interesting, beautiful and unusual design:

The design of the porch railings is also very unusual. The owners of one of the log houses decided to make their design so beautiful and original:

Agree, the decoration is very original.

When composing a design project for a beautiful porch of a wooden or concrete house, take into account such factors as the design features of the interior and exterior of the building itself, the material for making steps, handrails and a visor, the design features of the courtyard, and also be guided by your own ideas about harmony and beauty. And then you will have not just a staircase at the entrance, but a real decoration of the facade, harmonious and stylish.

Details about the design of the porch of a private house: the choice of architecture, decor, style. Photo examples of how you can make a beautiful porch with your own hands, as well as

Do-it-yourself beautiful design of the porch of a private house

Practical, beautiful and functional design of the entrance lobby means comfort and hospitality. Without a doubt, the dominant feature of this architectural ensemble is the porch. Therefore, arranging a porch in a private house is an important task, and in the article we will tell you how to make an entrance beautiful and original with your own hands, which decor is better to use, what should be the basis for the overall design and decoration of the extension.

And, of course, we will present a lot of photo ideas that will help you decide on the interior design, and find interesting design options for the porch of the house.

The main tasks of porch design

The architecture of the porch contains several elements: a canopy or canopy protects the building from precipitation, the railings serve for safety, the platform is an additional functional space outside the door of the house, and the staircase to the platform (steps) provides a convenient entrance. Taken together, these details should form a single beautiful composition that not only echoes the stylistic design of the main building, but also harmoniously connects it with the landscape of the site, and decorates the house.

Cross combination of design elements, here the geometry of the porch intersects with the broken lines of the multi-gable roof, balancing complex shapes

The actual question is how to correctly combine these architectural elements into an overall beautiful picture, where each design detail will complement each other, creating a flawless exterior of the house. In addition, the design of the porch should be not only beautiful, but also rational, at the same time, the design should meet all the aesthetic needs of the owners of a private house.

The porch and the house are made in different styles and from different materials, but the design elements of the entrance group and the frame around the perimeter are painted in a single color, which decorates the composition, and creates a single harmonious picture, in addition, graphic design has appeared in the design

Design starting points

First of all, you should decide whether the design of the porch of a country house will be made in the same direction as the main building, or the interior of the porch will be in its own style, and to combine the structures, you will need to think over a number of connecting parts.

The porch and the facade of the house are made in the same style, monochrome painting enhances the effect of the integrity of the structure, beautiful plants placed throughout the extension not only decorate the entrance, but also unite the garden and the structure

There is one more solution - the design of the porch can overlap with the design of the site. With the correct implementation of this idea, it seems that the yard and the house are indivisible parts of a single structure. Below is the design of the porch of a private house, the photo demonstrates well how to "disguise" the extension to the landscape.

The porch of a private house, a photo of how to beautifully decorate an extension under an alpine slide, such a design turns the entrance to the house into a continuation of the landscape

It should be noted that there is a belief that the materials for decorating a beautiful porch should be identical to the materials from which the house is built. It is by this method that the porches of a country house in the Russian style are attached. In other words, the porch of a wooden house must be built of wood.

A beautiful porch of a wooden house, built in the Russian style, such tall annexes are characteristic of snow-covered regions

But this stereotype is easy to destroy, it is enough to look at beautiful examples of how to decorate the porch of a house, the photo below very clearly demonstrates that one common design detail is enough for harmony to appear in the exterior.

The beautiful decoration of the porch of a private house made of bricks, the framing of doors and columns are painted in a single color, and although the materials are completely different, the concrete extension, faced with stone and tiles, harmoniously fits into the design

I would like to draw the attention of readers to another interesting and very effective design solution for decorating a beautiful entrance group. The image below shows a beautiful wooden porch. The photo very clearly conveys how visually the architecture of the building can be facilitated.

A heavy house made of rounded logs, a massive roof, and all this is neatly "diluted" with beautiful, delicate and light railings in simple lines. Here, a huge connecting role in the design is played by supporting vertical pillars, in their form, as it were, the contours of the timber and more subtle details intersect. I would also like to emphasize that the diagonal railings and rounded baluster lines balance the strict horizontal lines of the facade and porch sides.

The correct combination of wooden details in the design of the porch, competent design allows, even without beautiful and exquisite cutting, to create the effect of openwork and airiness of the structure

Another example of design, how to combine heavy materials in the design, but at the same time preserve the lightness, beauty and airiness of the architectural ensemble - this is a combination of stone, chipped brick and forged elements. The following is a beautiful design of a porch with a canopy, the photo illustrates well how the "brutal" materials are correctly composed. It would seem that stone and metal are always hard, but the beautiful, delicate forging pattern and the transparency of the polycarbonate canopy destroyed the impression of heaviness.

Porch design, decorated with beautiful openwork metal elements

Now look at an example of a different porch design, a combination of the same materials, but the railings and the frame of the visor are made of thicker rods, and the pattern is denser. Tiny twisted posts have replaced massive posts, a heavy canopy has appeared. The effect of this design is radically opposite.

The combination in the design of the same materials in different proportions creates a completely opposite picture.

Simple and tasteful design

We have already mentioned that the beautiful design of the entrance architectural group is most often carried out in the same stylistic direction with the exterior of the main building. But here, too, there are design techniques that allow you to fit the porch into the overall picture as harmoniously as possible.

A simple option on how to decorate a beautiful porch of a private house

The easiest way to build a porch of a cottage, so that it does not get out of the concept of the overall design, is to paint the elements in one color, or use the same geometric shapes in the design. If you look at the photo of the finishing of a plastered building, you can clearly see how these techniques work together. Apart from the fact that the wooden elements are painted the same, we can see a diagonal intersection on the railings, the same finishing method is repeated in the front paneling of the roof, and on the shutters.

How to decorate a bulky corner porch, in this design, the railings serve not only as a functional fence, but also as a decor for decorating an extension

Another, no less effective way of equipping a porch with a canopy, and not disrupting the general appearance of the front of the house is to literally "dissolve" the elements of the extension in the details of the facade decoration. Pay attention to the design of the porch of a brick house, the photo of which we presented above. The gray concrete steps have practically merged with the basement of the house, and the canopy repeats the figured brickwork, the layers of which protrude from the common vertical plane. Against the general background of a bulky structure, metal railings look beautiful, graceful lace, which gives the entrance group originality and sophistication.

Beautiful trim and patterns on the porch and windows can be ordered according to individual design, or you can buy ready-made

The entrance lobby and the windows of the building are decorated in the same style - this is a somewhat costly but effective way to break geometry and space. Here I would like to note that this design is able to change the appearance of the building beyond recognition. If you carefully examine the photo, you will see that it is based on a very nondescript structure, simple shape, sheathed with imitation of a bar, not a hint of individuality. A beautiful wood finish with columns and simple carved elements radically changes the look of the house, with the help of a beautiful finish expressiveness appears in the appearance - this is a vivid evidence of how important the design of the porch is.

Interior of a beautiful porch

Next, let's take a closer look at how to create a beautiful porch interior design. We talked about how the combination of shape, materials and size affects the overall design of the architectural composition, and in this section we will pay attention to the color, textures, furniture and details that give the structure an individual and complete look, and are responsible for the comfort and coziness of the extension.

Beautiful and extraordinary design of the entrance lobby

The combination of various textures in the design of the design allows you to achieve sometimes unexpected effects in the interior. For example, in the photo above, the entrance is interestingly beaten. The sidewalk path smoothly turns into solid massive brick railings, which unexpectedly find their continuation in the wooden baluster railings, and they, in turn, already connect the porch with the house. There are beautiful lanterns on the round pedestals, a lawn mat on the upper platform, a riot of greenery on the sides of the building, these details refer us to landscape design, but at the same time, a beautiful graceful chair emphasizes the home environment.

A beautiful and multi-level decoration of the porch entrance with greenery not only decorates the house, but also helps to combine the interior details into a single picture

The combination of completely different textures in the design, but in a different design, can be traced in this photo example. In the beautiful interior of the porch, you can clearly see how to refine simple materials and shapes using a few simple techniques. The smooth lines of the path smooth out the sharp shape of the roof, but in addition, the sidewalk links together a semicircular balcony and rectangular steps. The plastered front of the house, the piece of wood paneled wall and the tiled porch are, in fact, completely different materials in texture and color. But meanwhile, the incredible combination is balanced by a riot of vegetation, it is not only of different shades, but also of completely different shapes: triangular, spreading, round. These beautiful details grab attention, and surprisingly, balance and harmony appear in the interior design of the porch.

Concluding the story about textures, I want to emphasize that do not be afraid to combine materials in the design, until recently glass, metal and concrete in one structure were unthinkable, but now it is ubiquitous.

Railings and canopies

Railings and canopies are the main "testing ground" in the design of a beautiful porch interior, where you can fully express your imagination, creativity and taste. Beautiful, forged curls, curly wooden balusters, carved onlays, these design elements become the decoration of the entrance group. There is a huge selection of such decors on the construction market for a beautiful design, but here it is important to correctly arrange the details.

Beautiful porch to a wooden house, design in Russian style

So, if a beautiful carved wooden decor for the visor was chosen for the decoration, then it must definitely find its continuation in decorating the facade of the house, or in the fence of the porch. Sheds on forged frames, as a rule, are combined with forged railings, a beautiful door handle, street lamps. Decorating the porch of a wooden house with a wooden balustrade is the most popular way to decorate an entrance; baluster railings in their shape should be combined with the shape of pillars, or with a door panel.

Decoration of the porch of a wooden house with wrought iron decor

To decorate and improve the entrance porch and veranda, you just need to choose the right furniture. As a rule, garden furniture is used for furnishing: wicker made of artificial and natural rattan, forged with durable glass inserts, or folding on a metal frame with wooden surfaces impregnated with moisture-repellent compounds.

Beautiful wrought iron furniture on the porch is ideally combined not only with a wrought iron parapet and a visor, but also with bricks, concrete, stone, and also harmoniously fits into the design in the Provence and loft style

Hand-made wooden furniture is very popular. These are benches, homemade sofas, tables, trestle beds, stools. This setting adds color and originality to the design of the porch, and often becomes a source of pride for the owners.

Ideas on how to equip a porch interior with furniture

Textiles in the design of the entrance group

Of course, on a small porch, no matter how competently the design of the porch was thought out, you will not particularly roam about in the design. But on the other hand, on the large terrace of a country house, or on the veranda of the country porch, you can equip a beautiful, full-fledged recreation area.

Porch decoration in the country, photo of the interior design of a large terrace

But in addition to furniture, to create coziness, pillows, blankets, capes, rugs are needed - everything that disposes to a comfortable rest. In addition to such trifles, it is advisable to provide curtains or blinds in the design, which will protect the porch space from bad weather and gusts of wind. It is better to choose fabrics for decoration that are moisture-proof, do not transmit UV rays, and do not fade in the sun. The design of the curtains should coincide with the general design concept, mainly lightweight curtain options are made of polyester, and more durable ones are made of canvas and identical fabrics.

A beautiful decorative lattice is an alternative to curtains, a very practical option for arranging a country porch and protecting it from the sun

Flowers and decor items in decoration

Decorating a porch with flowers and plants is always a win-win interior design option. The arsenal of competent design includes beautiful tubs with large perennials, creeping and climbing plants in pots, flower beds with flowering compositions. In addition, there is now a huge selection of garden figurines and figurines on the market, their use will add zest and originality to the design of the porch.

Beautiful flowerpots with flowers will noticeably revive even the most banal design of the entrance group

"Unbeaten" design techniques look especially impressive, show your creative talents, because a hand-made craft is not just an author's design, exclusive, but also the realization of creative potential, an opportunity to show yourself and your skills.

Exclusive design, fun DIY furniture design

I would like to say about unexpected discoveries in the design and decoration of the porch. Sometimes the idea of how to decorate the porch of a house comes up completely unexpectedly, for example, as in the following photo.

Such a finding in the design will multiply the effect of the porch design.

Do not be afraid to experiment, embody your most incredible design ideas, because this is the face of your house, your business card, which from the doorway presents you to guests, opening up new facets of your personality for them. In the galleries for the article, see how to decorate beautiful porches, photos will tell you many beautiful, interesting and unexpected ideas for the design of the entrance group.

Design of the porch of a private house: analysis of the style + a selection of ideas

The porch is an indispensable element of the front part of the house. And therefore, the design of the porch of a private house is intended to emphasize the beauty and integrity of the entire building. The desire to decorate your home, focusing on fashion trends and taking into account our own taste preferences is natural for any of us. Each owner of a suburban area wants to design his building so that it stands out favorably against the background of neighboring houses. Fortunately, the variety of choice of options for porch design is quite extensive. Let's take a look at the most interesting ones.

The porch is an extension in front of the entrance to the house, which, if necessary, is equipped with a small staircase lined with several steps and a shed.

The porch serves as a transition at ground level to floor level, the difference between which can reach from 50 to 200 centimeters or more

Since the floor in the house is always raised to the level of the foundation, a series of steps acts as an obligatory element of the porch, which ends with a spacious or, on the contrary, a small area adjacent to the front door. The number of steps is made odd: three, five, seven. It is calculated so that when lifting, a person steps onto the platform with the same foot with which he began to move.

To protect against snow and rain falling on the site, which can impede the free opening of the doors, a canopy is often placed above the porch. If, when arranging a porch located at a height of one to two meters, the railings perform a practical function, then on a low porch about half a meter high, the fence acts rather as a decorative element.

Having the opportunity to equip a spacious area in front of the entrance, you can complement the architectural ensemble by placing a bench for rest

Since the porch, in addition to its practical purpose, also performs an aesthetic function, acting as the main decoration of the facade, a number of points should be taken into account when decorating a porch in a private house.

For example: when arranging a wooden frame or panel house, the design of the porch can only be made of wood. If the house is made of stone, then you can safely use such building material as natural or artificial stone, concrete or brick, glass or plastic to decorate the porch. The combination of stone and wood also looks interesting. But in this case, the combination of elements should be carried out as carefully and carefully as possible.

To achieve the desired result of the integrity of the architectural ensemble, not only the same finishing materials, but also coordinated color solutions allow. For example: if there are elements of forging in the enclosing structures of the site, then it will not be superfluous to continue the theme by decorating the pilasters or railings that support the canopy with them.

Please note that the porch, acting as a front entrance, affects the perception of the house as a whole, which leaves its mark on the image of its owner. That is why you should not save on the quality of finishing materials.

Style directions in the design of the porch

Ideal is the option in which the decoration of the porch of the house is harmoniously combined with all the elements of the exterior: the facade of the building, the fence, the outer gate ...

The porch, acting as a significant architectural element, should not only protect housing from snow drifts, but also please the eye, being combined with the house in style

Among the most common styles of decorating the porch of a country house, several options can be distinguished.

Option # 1 - classic design

The porch is equipped with a gable canopy, chiseled railings and decorative rounded balusters. Ceramic tiles or stone are used as facing material.

A feature of the classic style porch design is the moderate use of decorative elements that emphasize consistency and austere taste.

Option # 2 - a carved porch in Russian traditions

In Russia, for a long time, the main entrance of a wooden house, which towered on massive supports, was made high and spacious. The porch was decorated with many carved elements, decorated with ornate patterns.

Today, the design of the porch in the "Russian style" is still popular, acting as an elegant decoration of the facade of a wooden house

Carved railings and a canopy, as well as hanging pots with fresh flowers make it especially exquisite.

Option # 3 - a porch in the style of "house-fortress"

This porch is a massive structure decorated with natural stone. The main decoration of the main entrance can be lamps in the form of torches, forged furniture and lattices, the massiveness of which helps to emphasize openwork pots with climbing plants.

Delicate roses, fragrant azaleas and graceful petunias against the background of cold and rough stone create a rather colorful contrast

Option # 4 - European style porch

The characteristic features of the style direction are the correctness of forms and restraint of lines. The porch most often looks like a neat low structure. When facing the site and steps, natural or artificial stone or ceramic tiles are used to it.

Garden figures in the form of animals, flowerpots and hanging bells look appropriate as decorative elements of such a porch.

Option # 5 - French style porch

This direction is a variation of the European version. A characteristic feature of the style is the "French window" - a glass door decorated with an openwork lattice. Wooden or wicker garden furniture and hanging flowers are used to decorate the front door.

An abundance of flowers and figurative decoration of elements give the porch design a refined sophistication and special chic.

Some ideas and illustrative design examples

There are many options for decorating the porch of a private house. It all depends only on the design features of the building, the wishes and capabilities of the owner of the site.

You can transform a porch with a small area, which is the main architectural element of the building facade, using container flowers

Flower pots are installed on both sides of the entrance. Curtains made of loose fabrics will help to give the front entrance an atmosphere of coziness and protect the site from bright sunlight.

As a finishing touch when decorating the porch at the front entrance, you can put a nice outdoor rug that matches the color scheme with the containers.

When planning to equip a porch that will also serve as a veranda, you should worry about purchasing comfortable garden furniture.

The option of arranging a porch-patio is quite popular, which is an open terrace connected to the house.

Such a patio porch is more of a transitional option between the traditional porch of a house and an open garden gazebo.

The porch space may well accommodate an open summer kitchen with armchairs, tables and other paraphernalia. The porch, expanded to the size of a small terrace, allows you to receive guests and relax comfortably, enjoying the fresh air, next to the house.

Columns or an arch entwined with climbing roses located in front of the entrance to the porch contributes to the creation of a romantic atmosphere and disposes to a pleasant rest

An interesting option is also the lighting design of the architectural ensemble in the same style, in which the lamps on the porch are made in the same style as the lamps that provide illumination of the site in the dark.

7 tips for the design and decoration of the porch of a private house + photo

The porch is the face of the house. This simple truth does not need additional clarification. It is clear that the porch should be aesthetically pleasing, match the style of the house and the adjoining area, as well as be strong, reliable, safe and, if possible, functional. Despite the fact that these requirements are well understood by everyone, it is sometimes very difficult to equip a porch according to all the rules. Getting started with the independent design and decoration of the porch of a private house, you should familiarize yourself with the basic principles of its organization.

# 1. Basic requirements for the porch

The porch is a kind of extension to the house and serves so that a person can comfortably move from ground level to floor level in the house, because the latter is always higher, sometimes by 20-30 cm, and sometimes by 1-1.5 m (it all depends on the features of the construction of the foundation). Porch seems to be a fairly simple and unpretentious structure, but if you look at it, then it includes several functional elements:

All these details should be combined with each other, as well as in harmony with the facade of the house, the site, overlap with the fence, gates and other elements of the local area.

Of course, the design of the porch is of no small importance, especially in matters of perception of the house, but since it will be responsible for the daily load, it must be, first of all, very convenient, practical and thoughtful... Each structural element of the porch must meet the requirements of the owners of the house, therefore it is so important to create a project in advance and determine the required number of steps, the size of the site and the canopy, the height of the railing. It is worth considering the following nuances:

Lighting is an important element of the porch. In addition, if space permits and there is a need, the porch can be equipped with recreation area with benches, chairs, sofas, a table and organize breakfasts or dinners in the fresh air.

No. 2. What to consider when designing a porch design?

Comparing hundreds and even thousands of private houses, we can hardly find two similar porches, unless, of course, these are typical buildings. Everyone has their own preferences, tastes and requirements, which form the basis for the design of the porch. But in the desire to stand out and create an original solution, do not forget and some principles that will help to organically fit the porch into the surrounding area.

When choosing a design style be sure to consider the desired dimensions of the site, the height of the future staircase and its configuration, the material for finishing the facade of the house, as well as the features of landscape design.

The easiest way- use in the arrangement of the porch the same materials and colors as for the house itself. This is the most common solution that allows you to create a harmonious entrance group. For example, if the house is built of wood, then it would be logical to use wood when arranging the porch, for a brick house - brick paving slabs. Conversely, a brick porch will look very inappropriate near a house made of wood. When arranging, you can also focus on the elements of the site: if the fence and gate are decorated with forged elements, then they can be used for the porch railings.

A more complicated way is porch decoration in a style different from home... This is permissible, but will require exceptional taste from you. To combine the house and the entrance group, it will be necessary to think over general details: these can be elements of the same color or some kind of geometric shapes.

There is one more solution- decorate the porch in the style as close as possible to the site. In other words, the entrance group should become more an extension of garden paths and flower beds, rather than a part of the house. In a similar way, you can create very interesting solutions and blur the boundaries between the entrance to the house and the site itself.

No. 3. Stair tread decoration

The entrance to the house begins with climbing the steps, they take on a significant load, so you need to approach their arrangement very seriously. When choosing a material for finishing porch steps, it is necessary to consider assigned tasks, including protection of the base from destruction, giving the staircase a complete and aesthetic look.

Stair steps and platform, usually, made of one material... It must be wear-resistant, non-slip, withstand temperature extremes and high humidity, and also be resistant to decay and invulnerable to rodents. The finishing material should preferably not fade in the sun and be easy to maintain, and, of course, be aesthetic. The ideal material in all respects has not yet been invented, but there are several that are quite suitable.

The most popular materials for arranging steps and porch platforms:

  • a natural stone- an expensive and chic way to decorate a porch. There are many kinds of stone, they differ in color and texture, but they are all resistant to any weather and mechanical stress. You can use both sawn stone and a tile or strip of stone. Most often, porch cladding is used sandstone, marble and lamezite, a granite considered one of the most expensive and durable options (such a porch will serve you for at least 100 years). Slippery rocks are heat treated or engraved, but if you don't want to "mock" the stone, you can purchase special rubber pads. Another interesting option is rubble stone that will fit into rustic-style plots;
  • paving slabs considered the most common option for facing the porch. The secret of popularity lies in the wide variety and excellent performance. The material is made from a sand-cement mixture with special additives and dyes. May be any shape, color and size, imitate different types of stone... Interesting patterns can be formed from tiles. The material is resistant to high humidity, temperature extremes, direct sunlight, sufficient frost resistance, strength and durability. The installation of paving slabs must be approached responsibly, otherwise it may sag. A significant minus - the material becomes slippery in the cold, therefore, it is not enough to choose tiles with a well-embossed rough surface - you will have to provide rubber pads or additionally lay the coating at low temperatures;
  • concrete tiles- more budget analogue of sidewalk... On sale there are both ready-made elements and special forms for self-casting. Of the advantages, we note strength, high resistance to moisture, sunlight and abrasion, as well as the ability to imitate a stone coating, but in severe frost, concrete tiles can crumble or crack;
  • ceramic tile... Only tiles that can be used outdoors are suitable for facing the porch, which is easy to check by labeling... A foot should be drawn on the package, and a shaded surface underneath, and a snowflake icon should also be present. Pay attention to the flame icon and the number in it, which means the number of firing: for outdoor conditions, tiles with one firing are better, they are less porous. The main advantage of the material- a huge variety of shapes, shades, sizes and textures. Ceramic tiles can be glossy, matte, embossed, like a mosaic, wood or stone - you can turn any idea into reality. Material regarding inexpensive, moisture resistant, but very fragile and more or less strong mechanical loads will not withstand, and in winter such tiles also become slippery;
  • clinker tiles- one of the best options for steps and porch platforms. The material is made from special types of clay at a very high temperature. Clinker tiles durable and very strong- in winter, you can not be afraid to clean the snow from it with a tool - you will not damage it with a blow. Moreover, the material moisture resistant, therefore, even in severe frosts, it does not crack, it is resistant to sunlight, has rough non-slip surface;
  • porcelain stoneware in terms of strength, it is approximately on the same level with clinker tiles, it looks very solid, often imitates natural stone, but not cheap. The material is made using a special technology from clay, feldspar, quartz and additives, resulting in a material with high moisture resistance, wear resistance and the ability to withstand any mechanical stress. Porcelain stoneware takes neither fungus nor mold, nor sunlight, nor time. In winter, however, you will have to solve the problem with a slippery surface;
  • metal although it pleases with durability and allows you to equip a pretty openwork porch, it is rarely used and, mainly, for those houses where they come only occasionally, and do not live permanently;
  • natural wood- it is beautiful and environmentally friendly, only very troublesome... It is better to choose the most moisture-resistant rocks (larch and oak) or wood that has come through heat treatment, but you still have to constantly treat the surface with protective materials, preventing the appearance of mold and mildew, but the steps will not become slippery in the cold. Even with proper care, the tree is unlikely to last very long, and the material is afraid of fire;
  • terrace board has almost the same advantages as natural wood, but it is more practical to use, resistant to moisture and sunlight, does not slip, does not rot, is easy to install and boasts a huge variety. They make a terrace board using different technologies, but always the surface has a noticeable relief... A special type of material is a board made of wood-polymer composite, which includes wood shavings or sawdust and a binder. Such a board, although less environmentally friendly, is more resistant to negative environmental influences than other types of decking.

When choosing a material, take into account the features of the facade of the house: for wooden houses, mainly natural wood or decking is suitable, for brick or stone houses it is appropriate to use different types of tiles, stone and porcelain stoneware, for a plastered facade, tiles are also suitable. The staircase does not have to be strictly opposite the front door - it can be on the side, be semicircular, or even with two flights. For maximum comfort and safety in winter, can be fitted under the steps heating system using electric underfloor heating.

No. 4. Handrail and fencing decoration

The functions assigned to the handrail are clear to each of us - it is to ensure the safety of movement and additional decor of the porch. When choosing a material for them, it is necessary to take into account the features of the decoration of the house and feet, as well as the expected load.

One of the following materials can be used:

No. 5. Canopy decoration

Ideally, the canopy should completely cover the porch area and go beyond it, but with limited funds, you can make a visor only above the front door. If the canopy is small and light, then as mountings you can use beams or pipes coming from the wall of the house. For large and heavy canopies, you will have to equip supports, which, by the way, can become part of the porch decor. Moreover, in two- and three-storey private houses, the canopy can be combined with a balcony.

Popular materials for arranging the canopy:

Some materials can be successfully combine with each other... The shape of the canopy can be anything: often visors are made arched, domed, flat, mono- and gable, less often choose a concave shape. Trying to create a unique solution, we must not forget that water should flow freely from the visor without lingering on its surface.

No. 6. How to decorate the porch?

It is advisable to think over the location of the main elements of the decor even at the stage of designing the porch.

  • plants- a versatile decor that will be combined with wood, stone and metal. On the porch, you can put flowers in flowerpots, plant climbing plants that will braid the railing, build flower beds built along the stairs, or use hanging pots - there are a lot of options. It is best to choose flowers that bloom throughout the warm season. You can also use dried flowers, evergreen shrubs and even artificial flowers, but choose those that outwardly are practically indistinguishable from natural;

No. 7. Basic styles of house porch design

Among the designers professionally engaged in the arrangement of the entrance groups of houses, there is a classification of styles that can be used when decorating a porch. Their main features and principles will help everyone to independently create a tastefully decorated porch.

It is not so difficult to develop the design of the porch of a private house on your own. It is enough to determine the basic preferences and adjust them to the requirements of functionality and security.

7 tips for the design and decoration of the porch of a private house photo, Viti Petrov's construction blog

The entrance to any private house runs through a porch, so it must be reliable, strong, safe and, of course, aesthetically pleasing. What materials can you

Do you want to build your own porch? No problem! Whether concrete, even wooden, or even metal - choose any. In this case, the metal will be made with a beautiful canopy roof made of

Building a concrete porch

Reliable, durable and generally solid construction.

Choosing sizes

Sizes of steps: a - normal; b - cross-country

Usually a porch consists of several steps. Our task is to choose the best dimensions for the structure.

The optimal width of the stairs is 80-100 cm. If possible, the width should be increased - so the porch will be more comfortable and beautiful. Reducing is undesirable.

The permissible angle of inclination of the stairs is from 27 to 45 degrees.

Step width, mmStep height, mmThe angle of inclination of the march, deg.
400 100 14
380 110 16
360 120 18
340 130 21
320 140 23
300 150 25
280 160 29
260 170 33
240 180 37
220 190 40
200 200 45

We make the steps equal to about 25 cm in width, 12-20 cm in height, depending on who will use the porch. Children and the elderly? We make the steps lower. Mainly young and energetic users? We can increase the height of the steps.

We equip the upper platform so that it is about 50 mm below the end of the entrance door.

Fill the foundation for the porch

We dig a foundation pit around the perimeter of the future porch. Depth - from 50 cm.

We install the formwork around the perimeter of the foundation.

We fill the bottom of the pit with a 20-centimeter layer of gravel and tamp it. Pour a 10 cm layer of sand on top. We spill water for better ramming.

We cover the site with roofing material. We lay a reinforcing mesh (the recommended mesh size is 10x10 cm) and. You can prepare the solution yourself. The proportions are standard:

  • cement - 1 part;
  • sand - part 3;
  • crushed stone - 5 parts.

Pour concrete. We align the fill, pierce it with fittings in several places to release excess air. We leave the concrete for a few days for the initial set of strength.

We install the formwork

We construct the formwork for the steps. For this we use thick plywood. The height of the formwork should be 20 cm higher than the height of the future porch.

The principle is simple: we cut out the formwork elements along the height of each step and install them in the appropriate places. We pull the shields together with metal plates, wooden bars or other suitable fasteners.

Important! The side shields need to be reinforced with additional stiffeners.

The steps must be reinforced. In this case, the reinforcement must be laid and installed in all three planes. An even more convenient option is to weld a frame in the form of a future staircase and build a formwork around it. Do as you like.

Fill the steps

Lubricate the inner walls of the formwork with oil. Thanks to this, in the future we will be able to remove it without much effort.

We prepare the solution for pouring in the same way as the mixture for the foundation-site.

We fill the staircase in stages, from the first step. Let each step dry slightly, and only after that fill the next one. In this case, it is necessary to install additional formwork elements from the front side of the steps. In length, these elements must correspond to the width of the stairs. We make the height the same as that of the step itself.

Important! The side of the formwork in contact with must be as smooth as possible.

We carefully level the poured concrete and pierce it with reinforcement in several places.

We remove the formwork in at least 7-10 days. In conclusion, we just have to finish the steps. We can revet them with stone or tiles, lay them down and carry out any other finishing at our discretion.

We install the railings at will. The height of the handrails is from 90 cm. You can use the following option. It is also suitable for a metal and wooden porch (in this case, we will replace the metal elements with wooden ones).

We install support posts made of metal pipes in the lower and upper parts of the porch. It is advisable to choose the length so that the slope of the railing corresponds to the slope of the stairs. We connect the upper and lower ends of the racks with pipes of a slightly smaller section. We use welding.

The top tube will take over the handrail function. We use any kind of rolled metal to fill the space between our pipes. We install the elements with any gap. In this moment, everything completely depends on your preferences and imagination.

After installing the structure, we clean the metal elements and prime them in 2 layers. This treatment will increase the lifespan of the railing.

Such a porch will go well with almost any home.

Making the foundation

In general, the foundation is arranged in the same way as in the case of a concrete porch, with only one difference: at the same stage it is necessary to install supports for the future visor.

It is better to install supports in each corner of the future visor - this way the structure will be as stable as possible. If the porch is large, we make supports along the length of its walls in increments of no more than 2 m.

Dig holes about one and a half meters deep for each support. Metal pipes will perfectly cope with the role of supports. We insert the pipe into the hole and fill it with concrete.

Also, supports can be made from a bursa. The procedure is the same, but first, the lower part of the timber must be wrapped with roofing material or tarred and additionally soaked with an antiseptic.

At the same stage, we install supports for the future stairs. In the same way, we dig holes, put metal racks in them and pour concrete. It is unlikely that the porch will have a staircase that is too long, so it will be enough to install supports at the bottom and top of the structure. For more confidence, we can install them in the middle of the span.

The further procedure, up to the stage of pouring concrete, remains the same as in the instructions for arranging a site for a concrete porch.

At the stage of pouring, we take into account that we will need to slightly drown the staircase structure in the solution. We fill it not to the very top of the site - we leave about a 100-300 mm gap (depending on the dimensions of the structure being equipped and its features).

Then, after the installation of the metal structure, we will fill the foundation pit to the very top.

Drawing according to the plan of the house

Cook the ladder

We take two metal channels. We weld them to the previously installed and concreted supports. In the future, we will weld rolled products for steps to these products.

We take an equal metal corner. We cut it to the selected length of the steps, increased by the length of the weld. We weld a metal corner along the contour.

We get products in the shape of the letter G. We connect them together. At the top, we connect these G-elements using an equal angle corner. To do this, we weld it along the contour to both products, placing the shelves inward. To connect the bottom of the steps, we use a similar corner, but place it with shelves outward.

We can use different materials to fill the steps, for example, wood and plywood. We fasten it with self-tapping screws, screwing them from the bottom side. For additional fastening of wooden elements, we use silicone and ordinary glue.

In general, finish the stairs at your discretion. If you wish, you do not have to close up the horizontal openings, but simply mount the cladding directly on the steps.

We make a visor

We installed the racks for the frame at the stage of arranging the foundation. Next, we work in this order.

We install transverse supports according to the dimensions of the frame. If desired, we can make a curved canopy. To do this, it is enough to cut the profile with a step of about 4 cm and bend it to the desired level. The advantage of the curved canopy is that precipitation and various debris will not linger on it.

We put it on the frame and fix it with self-tapping screws. We maintain a fixing step equal to 300 mm. We glue the edges. This completes the canopy.

We build the foundation

- the best solution for a wooden house porch. Such a foundation is simple and quick to set up, but at the same time very reliable.

Digging holes at the pile installation points - in the corners of the future porch and along the length of its edges with a step of 80-100 cm. The depth of such holes is from 80 cm. Optimally - below the freezing point of the soil.

We treat the support bar with an antiseptic, wrap its lower part with roofing material, and then insert it into the pits. Fill the vertically aligned timber in the pits with concrete.

Let the concrete harden and proceed to further activities.

We mount the lags

If necessary, we cut off the tops of the timber so that all the piles are at the same level. We calculate the height of the supports so that after laying the site between it and the entrance door, there remains about a 5-centimeter difference in height.

We attach the logs to the supports and the wall of the house in a suitable way (with a self-tapping screw, dowels, etc., depending on the wall material).

Making a kosour (bowstring)

We are starting to manufacture the bearing part of the staircase. We will attach the steps to it. That is, the bowstring is the side edge of the steps.

To make a bowstring, we use wooden boards with a thickness of 5 cm. We take a board and draw steps on it. We cut out the workpieces with a jigsaw or a saw.

We fasten the bowstring with the lags with a thorn-groove connection.

We decorate the platform and steps

We fasten or nail the planks of the site to the logs. If desired, we put some kind of finishing coating on top of the boards - we focus on our preferences.

We attach risers and treads to the string. We start working from the bottom step. The procedure is simple: we fix the riser, fix the tread on it and so on until the end. For fixing, we use self-tapping screws or a thorn-groove connection.

Equip the railings and visor at your discretion. The installation instructions for these elements were given earlier. The sequence remains the same, it is only necessary to replace the support elements and cladding parts with similar products made of wood or other preferred material.

Video - Do-it-yourself porch at home

Probably everyone knows that a porch in any house must necessarily have functionality, as well as harmoniously fit into the very exterior of the building, because it is it that is considered a visiting card. There are many different options for how best to implement the construction of a porch for a private house. All this directly depends on your taste, the chosen material and the overall budget. With all this, one can easily say that building a strong and durable porch with your own hands is quite realistic.

The front porch itself consists of a completely open area, often along with a staircase, located in front of the entrance to the inside of the house. It can be absolutely any shape, optionally with a canopy or even without, as well as made of different materials.

In principle, the entire structure of the porch to the house can be divided into three types:

1. Affiliated;

2. Built-in;

3. Simple.

How are they different?

Simple - this is an ordinary platform with steps and always a canopy. During the assembly of this type of porch with your own hands, the most difficult thing is to fill the foundation, since it is necessary even for a simple construction of a porch made of wood.

The do-it-yourself built-in porch is initially designed in conjunction with the house, therefore it is being built thoroughly.

The attached type does not externally have any differences from the built-in version, the only thing is that it has been slightly modified and slightly rebuilt. The plus is that such a porch with your own hands can be easily attached by a minor alteration.

Remember! For any porch, a foundation is required, it is he who prevents the slightest deformation of the steps during seasonal temperature changes.

Foundation construction for all types of porch

The most important thing is that the main foundation of the porch to the house should be similar to the foundation of the house. If this is not the case, then during the sedimentation of the soil, winter frosts, your structure is simply not deformed. It is also possible that during the settling of the soil, your structure will move towards the house and then the porch foundation will suffer first, since it is less massive. To remedy this situation, minor repairs will not be enough and you will have to rebuild everything from scratch.

Since the glazed porch is not intended for living, and there is not any huge furniture, there is an opportunity to use an ordinary concrete pillow, which will be the foundation itself.

However, when choosing concrete, any kind of brick (white, red) or facing stone, the foundation must be reinforced. The fact is that this structure exerts a much greater load on the base itself than a wooden porch to a house.

To build the foundation for the porch with your own hands, you must start directly with the markup. To begin with, define a rectangular area of the desired size, the main thing is not to forget that the porch itself must fit in here. Then, piles should be driven into each corner of the rectangle and then, along the contour, begin to dig a pit. Its depth should be no less than the main foundation.

Advice! You don't need to lay the foundation very deeply. Of course, the load during the displacement of the foundation will become slightly less, but it is simply impossible to avoid them completely, with the slightest soil settlement or sudden changes in temperature.

If you decide to install a visor over the porch, then you will need to install supports, the very same rectangle for the pit should be increased by another 20-30 cm on all sides, and the piles can be driven in after the end of the porch construction.

To accomplish our plan, it will be necessary to leave small rectangles of non-dug area (approximately 20x20, possibly 30x30 cm) at the points where the support will be installed a little later. Then it is necessary to drill wells at each site, it is good to install the support, drive it in as much as possible and be sure to thoroughly fill it with concrete.

In this case, formwork is very suitable, although if the soil is rocky, then in principle it is possible without it. To make it, you can use absolutely everything - chipboard, wood-laminated board and ordinary boards, which turned out to be superfluous after construction. The main thing is to remember that plywood (wood-laminated board) and chipboard are quite hygroscopic, therefore, during rains, the rise of groundwater, they will begin to creep quickly, which is why, after the concrete has hardened, it is recommended to remove the formwork.

Do not throw away the remaining trims of boards, which are conifers, because the lumber of this tree has only positive features: after being completely saturated with water, they become much stronger and retain their elasticity.

Advice! If there is a strong deformation in the soil, for example, if your house is on a slope or on a mountain, then the coniferous formwork works as a damper.

The most important and main element when building a porch foundation with your own hands is waterproofing. In order to equip it, you need to lay the bottom in the pit with roofing material, and then the entire surface inside the formwork. Reinforcement is carried out using high quality bricks, on which it is necessary to put a mesh and fix the lattice with pre-prepared pieces of reinforcement.

Similarly to this principle, the pit is filled with several layers, which include bricks along with a mesh, and then this structure is completely poured with concrete. To avoid the formation of a void, it should be thoroughly tamped with a shovel after each poured layer.

Advice! To compact concrete well, it is better to purchase an electric vibration compactor, if you do not have one, then rent it.

Due to the fact that the concrete dries for about a week, you will need to immediately level the surface of the foundation and be sure to cover it with roofing material with an overlap of about 50-60 cm from each edge, you can also take a regular construction film. They will help protect the surface layer from any rain, since a large amount of water can make it quite brittle in the future, and then your foundation will simply be damaged.

If the need arises, you can cut off the top in the finished timber, then the piles will be at the same level. But try to calculate the height of the supports taking into account the entrance door, so the height difference should be about 5 cm. The lags are attached using self-tapping screws or dowels - it depends on the material of your wall.

- wood;

- white, red brick;

- facing stone;

- metal;

- high quality concrete.

Do-it-yourself wood porch

How to make a wooden porch with your own hands? Today it is the most common building material. This is due to the fact that the tree is quite simple to manufacture and therefore it is quite easy and quick to build a porch from it with your own hands. To do this, it is enough just to have a circular saw available (you can use the most common one, but it must have the smallest teeth - this will help a lot in cutting exactly), a special construction square and skillful hands.

Larch has long been considered the ideal material, followed by spruce and other conifers. Each of them is very durable and easy to handle. The most interesting thing is that at the end of the impregnation, the material that is made from them is practically in no way inferior to oak or some other species, which are several times harder.

It is important to remember! To work with solid elements, you need good skill, the right tools and, most importantly, specific knowledge in this area. For example, the quality of drying oak material can only be determined by an experienced carpenter.

First of all, you need to make a kosougor (kosour). Since it is very impractical to make a porch to a wooden house with your own hands less than 120 cm wide, then you will need at least three beams. Best of all, if the distance between them is about half a meter, it will be much easier for you.

This approach will help to provide your porch with the strength, and most importantly, the durability of the structure made on your own, regardless of how often the stairs will be used and with what weight load.

You need to know this! The kosour is called the supporting beam, in which the teeth are sawn out, it is she who plays an important role inside the support. It is advisable to lay the steps only on the horizontal edges of these same teeth.

The bowstring (also called an inclined beam) must necessarily be several times thicker than the stringer itself. They are connected using cross beams. At the end, the required number of stringers is fixed between them.

You will definitely need a square to cut the edges and make even steps. The gap between the prongs, even if it is 5-6 mm, will quickly provide the steps with slight subsidence on one side and swelling on the other. Sudden changes in temperature will significantly increase the difference in the level of the steps.

It is customary to make the width of the steps to fit the size of the foot of an adult, but it is better to take it with a margin, it is about 40 cm. The height between each step (riser) does not need to be more than 20 cm.

It should be remembered that the number of steps must necessarily be odd and for this one additional edge must be provided. With four steps or more, you will need to make a railing for the porch to the house.

With a glazed porch and a reliably covered staircase from moisture, you can do without the overhang of the steps. However, if the staircase is outside, then the overhang is simply necessary, since thanks to it, water will drip to the lower step, and not between them into the riser.

Advice! An already finished staircase should be installed according to a special principle so that the plane of the steps is slightly inclined (about 1-2 cm). This will help the water to flow downward and not accumulate and form ice.

The structure is installed directly on a previously prepared site, which is the foundation. To make your porch to the house as strong as possible, you should install the stairs exactly in the place in the foundation where the lower beam was previously laid along with the stringers. You can also use it to push through a small depression if the concrete is not completely frozen. Thus, you will get a fairly strong stop.

For the deck in the upper landing, you can take the material that was used for the stairs. In this case, there is only one requirement: it is recommended to use the widest and longest boards that are available, and make the joints as accurate as possible. When the boards are ground to each other as much as possible, you can not be afraid of deformation, even if the whole tree begins to dry out over time.

It will take about 3 to 7 days of work to equip a wooden porch with your own hands. It all depends on the size of your site, on the stairs and, of course, on the skills of working directly with a tree, but a beginner can handle it all. The most important thing is to divide the work into stages and do everything one by one, following the recommendations and instructions.

Metal porch

How to make a metal porch? The porch, which is made of metal, has a very big plus - it is assembled in about a few hours, if you know how to use electric welding in your work. In addition, the metal structure will cost several times less if you do not buy forged elements. However, there are also disadvantages - you will have to assemble a standard porch with your own hands, and therefore it will not look very beautiful and original, unlike others. If you want to make a beautiful porch with your own hands, then you can buy forged products, but they will need to wait up to 4 weeks (it all depends on the volume of your order).

Do not be upset if the budget is limited, because even a primitive metal staircase can be made very impressive and beautiful, the main thing for this is desire and imagination. For the lightest option, channels, corners and necessarily filling material are used. They can be: porcelain stoneware, wood or chipboard.

For an ordinary metal porch, you will definitely need two channels of the same length. They are attached parallel to each other at a distance equal to the size of the steps. After that, the corners are marked and cut to the same length as the steps, but at the same time adding a few centimeters around the edges to apply a weld.

In the same way, small pieces are cut from the corners and these two segments are welded with the letter "G" (the frame edge must be cut). The number of such details should be equal to the number of steps on your porch. Then they are closely welded to the channel, and as a result you get a high-quality metal skew. Similarly to this principle, another skew-angle is made using a second channel.

After all these actions, the resulting elements must be connected in pairs on the side where the corners are cut to the width of the future staircase. In this case, the contour of the steps is created, and the corner under the riser should turn over its head (thus creating a side).

Your ladder is almost complete. Now it all depends on your taste. The most beautiful will look like a wooden step, attached in any way to the resulting frame. Even if you do not have vast experience in working with welding, assembling such a porch with your own hands, in general, will take 2-3 hours.

Concrete porch

How to make a concrete porch? This option is considered a continuation of the laid foundation, but only with the reinforcement of all the steps. This is done so that after a couple of months, chips do not form due to constant heavy loads. Due to the fact that it is customary to cover a porch made of concrete with special facing tiles, gradually collapsing concrete immediately forms chips, and then cracks in the facing itself.

On a prefabricated foundation, formwork can be assembled, which will be the bottom step. In this case, it should be borne in mind that the height of the step, due to the weight load, must necessarily be 2 cm more than that of the others. Further, a similar procedure is carried out as when building a reinforced foundation for a porch. The only difference is that in this case there is no need to spare the armature.

Advice! It is recommended to close the gap formed between the two foundations with mineral wool. This will create a good expansion joint.

The formwork for the steps can be prepared in advance - this will save time. However, it is much safer and easier to pour concrete on each step in turn, and it is even better if, before pouring a new step, the solution of the previous one will have time to set.

At the end, it is necessary to level the already completely frozen structure, and then cover it with any tile intended for a metal porch or with a stone.

The time spent on work directly depends on the use of the full formwork, as well as on the formation of each step in turn or all at once. On average, you will need a week to work if you do everything at once, or a week for each step to completely cure the concrete.

Brick or stone porch

How to make a brick or stone porch? This is probably the most difficult porch option. This is because it is much easier to work with a brick foundation, where you do not need precision, than to lay out the stone as evenly as possible.

Brick should be laid only if there are several assistants who will thoroughly stir the concrete all this time. With a stone, everything is much more complicated, because chipped edges cannot be perfectly matched to each other. In general, if there is at least some experience in this activity and at least two people for help, then this type of porch should be abandoned immediately, otherwise you will simply waste your time and all the material.

It will be much easier to make a concrete staircase, and then match the material for the steps to it, which will be of a similar size. After that, they should be put in one layer on a "frame" of concrete, which is pre-leveled. This method has a huge advantage, since, by making a mistake, you can easily knock off the cladding of the desired area and re-finish the finish.

Building a visor

The visor is, first of all, the protection of the site and steps from various natural precipitations, as well as the ability to independently arrange the porch with your own hands in the house or in the country, beautifully and in a short time. Often it is made from durable metal pipes, coniferous trees or, in extreme cases, metal are used for the frame itself, but any tree or plexiglass is taken for sheathing.

Visors made of wood will need to be tinted at least 2 times annually or treated with special agents instead, otherwise it will gradually begin to dry out and then split longitudinally. When using plexiglass, it is better to make spans of about 0.7 m2 between them. It is strongly not recommended to use glass, as it can easily crack in winter during snow or due to deformation of frames.

The total area of the visor must necessarily be more than the porch itself by half a meter, otherwise it will not be able to perform its main function - protection.

The easiest and quickest option is to make something that looks like a metal ladder. Then the distance between each step can be made about 0.5 m. In this case, you will no longer need L-shaped elements and a channel, because the load on the visor itself will be several times less and only the corners in the outer frame will be enough. But filling with wood or porcelain stoneware can be easily replaced with any other material.

When pouring the foundation, during the formation of the base, piles are necessarily installed, it is on them that a visor should be laid. In addition, this will help in the future to completely glaze the veranda in just a couple of days, if you wish.

For covering, it is better to take a metal sheet together with a tile, but it will be much more spectacular and more beautiful if you use plexiglass and polycarbonate.

Advice! To avoid the appearance of rust on the worn out metal sheet, you can easily paint it with paint in several layers.

Be sure to make the visor pitched, and in the place where the lower rib will be, carefully weld a metal gutter with a slight slope. Attach an ordinary chain at the very end, which will reach the ground so that water will not splash during rain. Due to the fact that water has excellent viscosity and easy fluidity, it will begin to slowly drain along this chain. If you want to somehow get rid of the appearance of puddles near the porch, drain it.

How to glaze a porch yourself

The most common option is a closed porch. In this case, a concrete and stone foundation, together with a canopy and a staircase, is very popular, while always attached to piles.

Using the corners, which must match the height of the piles in the visor, a frame is formed. They are welded well to the piles and then the wood-glass double frames are inserted.

Advice! The glass sheet can be absolutely any height, but the width should not be more than 120 cm, because the windage of this glass is high and even a light wind can severely damage it.

If the void between the piles turns out to be more than one meter, then break them up with pseudo piles. To do this, a corner is welded at the top and bottom to the end of the piles with a step inward, and then between them - a double corner, which will form a pseudo-pile. Similarly, you need to divide the height, which forms a horizontal beam from several double corners. This will significantly reduce the load on the glass, and the structure itself will look light and beautiful.

The most common mistakes that are made during the construction of a porch

1. Build a porch with your own hands using low-quality concrete (below grade 200). This concrete itself is quite loose, which is why it will be difficult to perform the facing, since the strength of other mixtures is much higher after complete drying. In this case, due to temperature changes, the lining can be seriously damaged. The very foundation, which will subsequently remain open, will begin to collapse in the summer, and the brick steps will collapse even faster.

2. Lack of good waterproofing. If waterproofing is not done in a timely manner in the porch to the house, then this will lead to a huge accumulation of moisture below, as a result of which, during frosts, the structure will begin to gradually collapse. The steps will suffer the most, since they are the ones that get wet in the very first place.

3. Leveling of steps and plastering was done only a few days after the end of concreting. If there is a long break in time, then all layers will cease to hold without additional smears in the structure itself, or at best they will be, but very weakly. Do not forget that the place where the plaster adheres together with the screeds is considered the most vulnerable.

4. The foundation was erected without reinforcement at the base. If you do not have fittings, then the porch to the house will simply not be divided into two separate parts at the slightest subsidence. It will be impossible to repair this.

5. The porch was attached with our own hands to the foundation of the house itself without special expansion joints. You can securely attach the porch only if the house with the porch has a joint foundation. If this is not done, then a sedimentary crack will appear right at the border of the two foundations. To avoid this, the seam of the facing brick or tile must be stirred at one border, and the gaps must be filled with silicone sealant and in no case with grout.

So, you do not need any specific skills to build a porch with your own hands. Each operation is considered basic in construction and therefore everything is within the power of even a beginner with skillful hands.

The fashion for non-standard architectural forms is back. And every home owner wants to give his mansion originality and originality. This can be done by building a porch. This architectural element will add elegance to the entrance group of the house, enliven the general appearance of the building, and also serve as protection from snow and rain.

But what kind of extension should you choose so that it blends harmoniously with the exterior of the mansion? What a porch can be in terms of size, shape, configuration, type and style, we will consider in this article. And the most worthy options for the porch of a country house, photos from our gallery will demonstrate clearly.

The device and purpose of the porch

The veranda for the house has become such a common household item that few people think about its role. The main purpose of the extension is to make visiting a home more comfortable for a person.

Since the porch is the center of the facade of the building, it must be made as attractive as possible. Often it is erected after the construction of the house, so you should take care of its compliance with the style of the mansion. For this, a draft of the porch of a country house is being drawn up.

On a note: the more harmonious the overall picture, the more dignified the veranda itself will look.

Varieties of extensions

Modern types of porches for the house are elegant and comfortable structures made of modern building materials that decorate the entrance to the house, making it original and functional. The annexes can be classified into several categories.

The size

The first thing to consider when drawing up a project for porches for country and country houses, cottages, small summer cottages is their size. It is determined by the dimensions of the mansion, as well as by building codes (the minimum width is 150 cm, the length is 180 cm). For a small house, a small porch of a simple configuration is suitable, corresponding to it in style and proportions.

Small extension with neat semicircular steps

A medium-sized concrete structure is suitable for a standard home. Its height is selected individually, based on the dimensions of the mansion.

Openwork metal forged porch

A luxurious mansion has a large porch. It can be low (with a staircase of only 1-3 steps) and be located along the entire length of the wall of the house.

A large terrace for a house made of wood is a great place to relax

Advice: having calculated the optimal dimensions of the extension, they are included in the construction plan.

If the building is located on uneven terrain, for a convenient approach to it, a porch of a house with a high basement is constructed. Since the platform is located at a certain height, a staircase with a large number of steps should lead to it, equipped with handrails for safe descent along it.

High entrance porch of a private house, photo

On a high porch, rounded columns will not be superfluous. They will serve as supports to support the canopy over the outer door.

Advice: using design techniques, the columns can be turned into decorative elements that decorate the front entrance of the house, giving it style and respectability.

The form

If we regard this structure from the point of view of aesthetics, then it is almost impossible to find two identical porches. Today you can find verandas of various shapes:

  • rectangular;
  • square;
  • trapezoidal;
  • semicircular;
  • round;
  • asymmetric.
Consider: the shape of the porch is selected individually, in accordance with the overall design of the facade. Square and rectangular extensions have clear lines and give the house austerity and neatness, and round - softness and warmth.

The semicircular porch looks unusual and peculiar. With such a simple technique, a mansion can be made more original. The photo below shows a semicircular porch to a brick house.

On a note: it is not at all necessary that the whole structure has the shape of a circle - a rounded canopy, or steps with rounded edges, is enough.

Add spice to the architecture of the cottage by adding a porch in a semicircle, photo

A corner construction will also be a non-standard solution. A round porch located at the corner of a rectangular house looks very impressive.

Lateral round structure accentuates the exterior of the building

The corner street extension can be not only round, but also trapezoidal, triangular in shape. The complex geometry of the structure should not be discordant with the main structure, but create a single concept with it.

Accommodation in relation to home

The porch can be located in different ways in relation to the mansion. So you can build an attached structure - a horizontal platform with steps, located in front of the entrance to the house.

The built-in porch, which has a common roof with the house, looks elegant. Such a combined extension should create a single architectural ensemble with a mansion and an adjoining site.

Materials (edit)

When developing a porch design, you can choose any materials that match the style of the house, from traditional (wood and natural stone) to more modern (concrete, metal, brick).

Type

In construction, there are several structural types of porches. The open structure is an annex with a small platform, not equipped with a canopy and railings. This design is used in places that are used mainly in the summer (for example, in the country).

Advice: open structures should not be erected on an area where precipitation often falls.

A structure equipped with a roof or canopy is a covered structure. It has no walls, only railings that shield the extension from the street.

Outdoor covered building

A structure with walls or glass panels and a canopy is called closed. The room is a full-fledged veranda, it can have lighting and heating and can be used as a gazebo.

A type of closed extension is a porch with a vestibule. This is a construction of a small area, which provides a comfortable microclimate for the home.

On a note: vestibule - a transitional zone on the border with the street, which protects housing from the cold.

A popular type of extension is the porch-veranda. It is a place for leisure and recreation, and can be indoor or outdoor.

Closed polycarbonate porch - modern design

A harmonious addition to the cottage made of natural wood will be a wooden veranda. And if the extension is closed, it will only improve the thermal insulation of the mansion.

If the mansion has more than one floor, then the porch can be connected to the balcony. In this case, columns can act as a connecting element. In the same way, you can combine the site with a bay window - the protruding part of the second floor.

A spacious porch-terrace can be used as a place to relax. The large area can accommodate a table, armchairs and even sun loungers.

A variant of the unconventional design of the structure is a mini-gazebo on the terrace. Plants and comfortable furniture can be used to make the structure more comfortable.

Extensions can differ not only in purpose and design, but also in the design of the stairs. A staircase with one flight is considered standard, but there are other varieties.

Staircase with a march on two sides

The exit to the site can be organized even from three sides, and the staircase itself can be semicircular or complex geometric shapes.

Note: the canopy and railings not only perform practical functions, but also serve as elements of decoration and decoration of the entrance group of the mansion.

Stylistics

In order for the extension to be in harmony with the house, it is better to think over its design in advance. So a structure made of stone can be decorated in the style of a medieval fortress. For its decoration, facing stone, forging can be used.

Play on contrasts - decorate the stone structure with fresh flowers

Adherents of strict lines and symmetry will love the classic design of the extension in the European style. Its components are a glass door, openwork grilles, many colors.

How to make a veranda for a wooden Finnish house? The project of the porch of a Scandinavian-style wooden house provides for a symmetrical facade with a porch of a simple design (with a canopy and a staircase). And during its design and decoration, they try to preserve the texture of natural wood.

How to build a porch and which structure to choose

The main parameter by which the type and configuration of the extension is chosen is its combination with the mansion. Everything is tedious to plan even at the design stage. So that the structure does not sag, it must be built on a strong and reliable foundation (according to all SNIP standards). A canopy is being erected to protect it from the weather. Thus, the porch of a mansion is not only an important architectural element, but also a recreation and comfort zone.

Outcome

The porch, like a visiting card of a house, can be of any configuration and size. The most important thing is that the structure protects the mansion from cold, bad weather, and also creates a harmonious overall architectural ensemble with it.

The porch is an important part of the architecture of the house. It should be reliable, comfortable and beautiful. In this article we will talk about what the design of a porch in a private house can be, what it can be in terms of construction, what material it can be faced with, how it should be combined with the exterior of the building as a whole.

Porch design options

There are many architectural designs for the porch. What it will be in terms of design is desirable to determine at the design stage. It should be in good harmony with the front facade of the cottage and stand on the same foundation.

Open porch

An open porch is a platform with a small awning above the door. It can be with or without railings. Such a porch does not very reliably protect the approach to the house from wind and precipitation, but it does not require complex work and high construction costs.

Source vsestroj.ucoz.ru

Closed porch

This is a variant of a more secure porch. It is a platform that is completely covered with a canopy. Sometimes the canopy also covers the stairs. At the same time, the structure is closed on the sides by the structure of the railing.

This porch protects the front door. Puddles of water or snow drifts will never form near it. Even in bad weather, under the porch canopy, you can safely find the keys and open the door.

Porch-vestibule

The porch, made as a completely enclosed extension, is a traditional design option for the entrance area in Russian village houses. Previously, such a buffer zone was called a vestibule and could be quite spacious, like a modern veranda. But more often it was a small buffer room that protected the residential part of the house from the cold outside.

The porch-vestibule provides the house with minimal heat loss through the front door during the heating season. In the summer, it allows you to keep the rooms cool and comfortable. At the same time, it can function as a hallway if it provides a place for storing outdoor shoes and outerwear.

Porch on two sides

This is a version of an open porch that has two stairs that run along the wall on both sides. This design of a porch with a canopy of a private house looks great against the background of any cottage. If you arrange the entrance group on two sides with beautiful forged railings, it will add solidity and respectability to the house. However, this option cannot be called very practical - at a rather high cost, it does not provide reliable protection to the entrance group.

Porch-veranda

The entrance can be designed as a closed glazed veranda. This is a great option for combining a recreation area and an entrance portal. The veranda can be heated or cold. In it, you can equip a summer kitchen or, for example, a gallery. However, such an architectural solution also has one significant drawback - a closed veranda, which is, in fact, an extension stretched along the main facade, and it blocks the access of sunlight to the windows of the first floor.

Porch terrace

The terrace is a covered area without enclosing walls. It can have a railing or a solid fence around the perimeter with a height of about a meter and a half. An extension of this type also obstructs the windows of the first floor, but not as tightly as a closed vernda.

A terrace that serves as a porch is a rather popular way of arranging a country dwelling in modern low-rise construction. It has several advantages:

    allows you to save space on the site;

    increases the functionality of the porch;

    provides an opportunity to equip a full-fledged recreation area with a summer kitchen next to the house;

    makes it possible to bring all the necessary communications to the summer recreation area with minimal means.

Materials (edit)

The porch can be constructed from a variety of materials. For the arrangement of the base of the porch, concrete, brick or a structure of metal elements are used. Construction wood is sometimes used. From above, the base is revetted with some kind of decorative material. The choice of cladding depends on several important factors - the type of porch construction, the intended design of the entire building, the preferences of the owners and the cost.

Options for beautiful porches from different materials

Wood

Any porch can be made of wood, from the simplest area with a canopy to a wide terrace. The main thing is to choose the right wood. It must be durable and moisture resistant. This can be, for example, a pine tree. But even the highest quality wood materials must be pre-treated with a protective compound. Otherwise, moisture, fungus and insects will destroy them very quickly. Wooden porch decoration in a private house has its advantages - it looks very aesthetically pleasing, it can be restored, and it is suitable for decorating houses in a variety of architectural styles.

Concrete

During the construction of modern cottages, concrete entrance structures are often constructed, which are not covered with finishing materials. A concrete porch can be complemented by a wrought iron or wooden railing. The concrete base itself is sometimes coated with paint.

A concrete porch can be shaped to any shape. It is reliable, durable, monolithic. Over time, it can be tiled with tiles, bricks or wood.

Stone

Natural stone has all the necessary qualities for a porch - it is strong, durable, moisture resistant, beautiful. Therefore, stone is a classic material for decorating a porch in a solid and respectable house. However, recently, instead of natural stone, its artificial analogue is increasingly used. Artificial stone has almost the same characteristics as natural, but at the same time it costs less and weighs less.

Brick

Facing with decorative bricks is used mainly in the construction of brick cottages. This finishing option allows you to maintain the integrity of the design of the house. A brick porch can be in the form of a classic entrance or a wide terrace. Facing brick is ideal for exterior decoration, as it has all the advantages of a stone and can last for many years without requiring reconstruction.

Tile

In many cases, ceramic or paving slabs are used to decorate the porch. Usually, the porch area is faced with paving slabs, which have such characteristics as high abrasion resistance, attractive appearance and anti-slip coating.

Other materials

There are other options for arranging the porch. It can be faced with porcelain stoneware, siding or clinker tiles. Any cladding intended for outdoor use is suitable. But it should be in harmony with the cladding of the house and with the landscape design of the site.

Canopy

A canopy or canopy over the porch is a necessary element of it. It protects the front door and threshold of the house. It does not need to be equipped only in cases where the function of a visor is performed by the overhang of the roof of the building or the roof of the veranda. For example, it can be a one-story house with a porch under one roof.

Source vnovinky.ru

In all other cases, you need to think over a visor of a suitable shape and size. The structure of the canopy consists of a frame and cladding. The frame can be constructed from:

  • profiled pipes;

    metal strips;

    steel corner.

You can cover the frame with any material intended for covering the roofs of houses or gazebos. Such materials include:

    bituminous tiles;

    natural tiles;

    corrugated board;

    metal tile;

  • polycarbonate.

In shape, the visor can be:

    single-slope;

  • domed;

    concave;

  • gable;

    marquis.

When arranging a visor, it is very important to ensure a high-quality connection to the wall. Water from precipitation should not seep between the visor and the wall. To obtain a sealed fastening, a baffle plate is usually used, matched to the tone of the wall finish or the tone of the canopy cover.

Video description

Manufacturing and installation of a polycarbonate visor

In form and material, the visor should correspond to the artistic solution of the porch and the entire building as a whole. The easiest way is to make a single-slope visor. It is suitable for all types of cottages. But more complex canopy options look much more interesting. For example, if a polycarbonate cover is used, it is better to make a domed or arched visor. If the house is made in the style of a village hut and has a traditional gable roof, it will look even more impressive if you make a gable canopy covered with the same material as the roof.

Porch design

The porch is the most expressive part of the exterior of the house. It largely determines the aesthetics of the entire household. Therefore, it is very important to correctly determine the design of the porch. The shape of the porch, whether it is a small open area or a wide terrace, can be rectangular or rounded. This is the front line of the court. The rounded porch is more difficult to build, but it gives the exterior of the house a more elegant and finished look.

Video description

Arrangement of a rounded brick porch

The combination of porch design and home design can be solved in two different ways. The first is to maintain a uniform style using one finishing material and a common artistic solution. The second option is to think over a contrasting combination, in which the porch will become an accent element of the building's architecture and its decoration.

With a contrasting combination, modern lightweight materials can be used to decorate the porch. For example, a porch canopy can be made of lightweight and practical polycarbonate. A metal porch for a siding house looks quite attractive. A porch made of wood or stone can be attached to a cottage with facades covered with plaster.

Source lestnitsygid.ru

To make the porch fit well with the landscape design of the site, you can make it as inconspicuous as possible. But if a decision is made to build a large or simply very expressive in design porch, it is desirable to "support" it with some decorative element in the landscape. For example, on the site you can put a sculpture, which in color and texture will overlap with the decoration of the porch. Or you can use the same lamps to illuminate the porch and paths on the site.

The surest way to tie the porch and yard design together is to use the same flooring for the front entrance and for the garden paths. Thinking over the options for the paths and the porch in the house, it is advisable to immediately provide for their combination in a single composition.

Conclusion

The porch of the house is an important functional and decorative part of the architecture of the house. It can be built in the form of a small area with a canopy or a terrace attached to the house. A variety of materials are used for facing the porch. A well-designed porch can become a real decoration of both the cottage itself and the area around it.
