PRAYERS BEFORE HOLY COMMONMENT

PREPARATION

Whoever wants to receive communion must prepare himself worthily for the Holy Sacrament. Cooking (fasting) lasts several days. The body is prescribed abstinence, that is, bodily purity and restriction in food (fasting). On the days of fasting, food of animal origin is excluded - meat, milk, eggs and, with strict fasting, fish. Bread vegetables fruits are consumed in moderation. The mind should not be scattered over the little things of everyday life and be entertained. On the days of fasting, one should attend services in the church, if circumstances permit, and more diligently follow the home prayer rule: whoever does not usually read all morning and evening prayers, let him read everything in full, those who do not read the canons, let him read at least one on these days. canon. On the eve of communion, one must be at the evening service to read at home, in addition to the usual prayers for the coming sleep: the Canon of Penitence, the Canon to the Mother of God, the Canon to the Guardian Angel, or the Combined Canon, which includes the three listed canons. The Canon to Communion is also read (it is in the Following to Holy Communion) and whoever wishes an Akathist to Jesus the Sweetest. After midnight (including in the morning) they no longer eat or drink, for it is customary to start the sacrament of communion on an empty stomach. In the morning, the morning prayers and all the Followings to Holy Communion are read, except for the Canon read the day before. Before communion, confession is required - in the evening or in the morning, before the Liturgy. After communion, prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion are read

Through the prayers of the saints, our Father, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, have mercy on us. Amen.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfill everything, Treasure of the good and life to the Giver, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, Beloved, our souls.

Trisagion

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Lord's Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we also leave our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord have mercy. (12 times)

Come, let us worship our Tsar God. (Bow)
Come, let us worship and fall down on Christ, our King God. (Bow)
Come, let us worship and fall down on Christ Himself, the Tsar and our God. (Bow)

Psalm 22
The Lord feeds me, and will deprive me of nothing. In the place of zlachne, tamo instilled in me, on the water raised me calmly. Turn my soul, guide me on the path of righteousness, for your name's sake. If I go in the middle of the shadow of death, I will not fear evil, as if You are with me: Your rod and Your club, that comforter me. Thou hast prepared a meal before me to resist those who chill me; thou hast anointed my head with bareness, and Thy cup are overwhelming me, like the sovereign. And Thy mercy will marry me all the days of my life; and a hedgehog to move us into the house of the Lord in the longitude of days.

Psalm 23
The Lord's earth, and its fulfillment, the universe, and all that dwell on it. That one founded it on the seas, and prepared it on the rivers. Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord, or who will stand in His holy place? The rukama is innocent, and is pure in heart, who do not take his soul in vain, and do not swear by their sincere flattery. He will receive blessing from the Lord, and alms from God his Savior. This is the race of those who seek the Lord, seeking the face of God, Jacob. Take up the gates of your princes, and take up the eternal gates; and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord is strong and strong, the Lord is strong in battle. Take up the gates of your princes, and take up the eternal gates; and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of forces, the One is the King of Glory.

Psalm 115
Faithful, the same verbs: I have resigned myself exceedingly. But I am in my speech: every man is a lie. What will I repay the Lord for all, even retributions? I will receive the cup of salvation, and I will call upon the name of the Lord; my prayers of the Lord I will repay in the presence of all His people. Honest before the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, I am Thy servant, I am Thy servant, and the son of Thy handmaid; Thou art tore apart my bonds. I will devour thee sacrifice of praise, and in the name of the Lord I will call. My prayers to the Lord will pay off before all His people, in the courtyards of the house of the Lord, in the midst of you, Jerusalem.

Glory, and now:

Alleluia thrice. And three bows.

Tropari, voice 8
Despise my iniquity, O Lord, of the Virgin born, and cleanse my heart, then creating a temple to Your most pure Body and Blood, below, take me away from Your face, have great mercy without number.

Glory: Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

In the sacrament of Thy holy things, how dare an unworthy man? Ashe, I dare to approach You with the worthy, the tunic denounces me, as if I wear an evening one, and I am condemning my sinful soul. Cleanse, O Lord, the filth of my soul, and save me, like a Human Lover.

And now: And now and forever, and forever and ever, Amen.

Many of my multitudes, Mother of God, sins, come to You, Pure, demanding salvation; visit my feeble soul, and pray to Thy Son and our God, forgive me, even fierce deeds, Blessed One.

On the holy fourtieth day it reads:
When I am enlightened to the glory of a disciple at the supper, then Judas, the wicked love of money, became darkened, and betrays the righteous Judge to the wicked judges of Thee. See, the estates to the zealot, who have used these for the sake of strangling: flee unfulfilled souls, to the Teacher such daring. Alike all the good Lord, glory to Thee.

Psalm 50: Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and I will take out my sin before me. Thee, who alone have sinned, and have done evil before thee; as if you were justified in your words, and conquer, always to judge Ti. Behold, in transgressions I am conceived, and in sins bore me my mother. Behold, you loved the truth; You have revealed your unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. To my hearing dasi joy and gladness; the bones of the humble will rejoice. Turn away Thy face from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquity. Build a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me the joy of Thy salvation, and with the Spirit of the Lord confirm me. I will teach the wicked in Thy way, and the wicked will turn to Thee. Deliver me from the blood, O God, God of my salvation; my tongue will rejoice in Thy righteousness. O Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth shall declare Thy praise. As if you would have wanted sacrifices, you would have given them: do not favor burnt offerings. The sacrifice to God the spirit is broken; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. Bless, O Lord, with Thy good pleasure Zion, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will lay calves on your altar.

Bread, Christ, take, do not despise me, Thy Body, and Thy Divine Blood now, most pure, Lord, and Thy terrible Mysteries, partake of the accursed communion: may it not be in judgment, but it will be in the eternal and immortal belly.

Canto 7
Irmos: The wise children did not serve the golden body, and they themselves went into the flame, and their gods scolded, in the midst of the flame, cry out, and I spray the Angel: I heard your prayer already.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us!

Irmos: Into the fiery cave to the Jewish youth who descended, and flame into the dew of the transformed God, sing the deeds like the Lord, and exalt for all eternity.

Chorus:Build a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

Heavenly, and terrible, and Thy saints, Christ, now the Mysteries, and Thy Divine and secret suppers are a source of being and vouch for me to the desperate, O God, my Savior.

Chorus: Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.

Benevolence has come running under Thy, Better, with fear I call Ty: abide in me, Savior, and I, as you advertised, in You: behold, daring to Thy mercy, I am Thy Body, and I drink Thy Blood. Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us!

Trinity: I tremble when I receive fire, so I will not be scorched like wax and like grass. Ole a terrible sacrament! Ole of God's grace! What kind of Divine Body and Blood do I partake of, and am incorruptible I am created?

Canto 9
Irmos: The Son, God and the Lord of the Parent is without beginning, incarnate from the Virgin to us appear, darkened to enlighten, gather the wasted one: by this we magnify the all-singing Mother of God.

Chorus:Build a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

Christ is there, taste and see: the Lord for us, for our sake, who was more ancient for us, brought Himself as one, as an offering to His Father, will ever be hardened, sanctify those who partake.

Chorus: Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.

May I be sanctified in soul and body, O Lord, may I be enlightened, may I be saved, may I be Your house by the communion of the sacred Mysteries, having You living in me with the Father and the Spirit, the Benefactor of the Most Merciful.

Chorus: Give me the joy of Thy salvation and, by the Spirit of the Lord, confirm me.

Let fire be mine, and like light, Thy Body and Blood, my Savior, most honorable, scorching sinful substance, burning thorns of passions, and enlightening me all, worship Thy Divine.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us!

Theotokos: God is incarnate from Thy pure blood; even so, every race sings to Thee, the Lady, the clever ones glorify the multitudes, as if by Thee they see the Lord in all, realized by mankind.

It is worthy to eat as truly blessed Theotokos, the Most Blessed and Most Immaculate and the Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption, we magnify the Mother of God.

PRAYERS BEFORE HOLY COMMONMENT (read in the morning) .

Prayer of St. Basil the Great , 1st
Lord Jesus Christ our God, the Source of life and immortality, of all creatures visible and invisible to the Makeerer, of the beginningless Father, co-perceiving to the Son and original, for the sake of goodness in the last days in the flesh was cloaked, and crucified, and was buried for us, the ungrateful, and evil of thy renewing our nature corrupted by sin; Yourself, Immortal King, accept my sinful repentance, and incline Your ear to me, and hear my verbs. Those who have sinned, O Lord, who have sinned into heaven and before You, and I am worthy to look at the height of Your glory: in anger for Your goodness. Having transgressed your commandments, and disobeying your commandments. But Thou, Lord, you are not malignant, long-suffering and merciful, you did not betray me to perish with my iniquities, waiting in every possible way for my conversion. Thou art more, Thou art loving man, Thy prophet: as if I want I do not want the death of a sinner, but a hedgehog will turn and live to be him. You do not want to destroy your hand, Master, to destroy your hand, lower your favor about the death of humanity, but you want everyone to be saved, and come to the mind of truth. The same and I, if I am not worthy of heaven and earth, and sowing temporary life, submitting everything to myself to sin, and enslaving with sweetness, and defiling Your image: but Thy creation and creation, I did not despair of my salvation, accursed, daring to Thy immeasurable benevolence , I come. Accept me and me, O Lord of mankind, like a harlot, like a robber, like a publican and like a harlot, and take my heavy burden of sins, take on the world of sin, and heal human infirmities, who work and are burdened to You, call upon you and do not come to rest but sinful to repentance. And cleanse me from all defilement of the flesh and spirit, and teach me to perfect holiness in Thy passion: as if by pure knowledge of my conscience, I receive Thy holy things, I will unite with Thy holy Body and Blood, and I have Thy living and abiding in me, with the Father, and by your Holy Spirit. To her, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, and may not in the judgments be the communion of Thy most pure and life-giving Mysteries, lower may I be weak in soul and body, from a hedgehog unworthy to take communion, but grant me, even to my final breath, not condemned part of Thy holy things, in the Holy Spirit communion, in the way of the eternal life, and in the favorable response to Thy terrible judgment: as if I and all Thy elect would be a fellowship of Thy incorruptible blessings, even Thou art prepared for those who love Thy, Lord: in them Thou art Thou hast been glorified in eyelids. Amen.

2nd
O Lord my God, vem, as I am worthy, below is content, but under the roof of the temple of my soul, now I’m all empty and fell to eat, and I don’t deserve a place in me, to bend the head of the hedgehog: but as if from above you humbled yourself for your sake, humble yourself now also to my humility. And as if you perceived in the den and in the dumb nursery near the neighborhood, perceive my soulless soul in the manger and in my defiled body. And as if you were not unworthy to bring in, and shine from sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so please, take in my humble soul, leper and sinner, into the house. And as if you did not reject such a harlot and sinner, who came and touched You, have mercy on your bitch and a sinner about me, who comes and touches You. And as if you did not abhor her foul lips and unclean ones, kissing You, below mine, abhor those filthy lips and unclean ones, below my vile and unclean lips, and my filthy and unclean tongue. But let there be coal of Thy Most Holy Body, and honest Thy Blood, for the sanctification and enlightenment and health of my humble soul and body, for the relief of the burdens of many of my sins, for keeping from every devilish act, for driving away and forbidding my evil and evil custom, for the mortification of passions, for the supply of Thy commandments, for the application of Thy Divine grace, and the appropriation of Thy Kingdom. Not as if I despise I come to You, Christ God, but as if daring to Your ineffable goodness, and may not move away from Your communion, from the mental wolf I will be caught by the beasts. I also pray to Thee: as one is Holy, Lord, sanctify my soul and body, mind and heart, belly and womb, and renew me all, and root Thy fear in my good luck, and Thy sanctification is inalienable from me; and wake me a helper and intercessor, nourishing my belly in the world, making me and your right hand stand with your saints, with the prayers and prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother, Thy immaterial servants and most pure powers, and all the saints who have delighted You from time immemorial. Amen

Prayer of Simeon Metaphrastus, 3rd
Alone pure and incorruptible Lord, for the ineffable mercy of love for mankind, our all perceived confusion, from pure and virgin blood more than the nature of the birth of You, the Divine Spirit by the invasion and grace of the ever-present Father, Christ Jesus, the wisdom of God, and peace, and power, life-giving by your perception and perceivable saving suffering, cross, nails, spear, death, mortify my soulful bodily passions. By Thy burial of hell, captive of the kingdom, bury my good thoughts, crafty counsel, and ruin the spirits of crafty. Having raised up your fallen forefather by Thy three-day and life-giving resurrection, raise me up with sin that crawled, offering images of repentance to me. By Thy glorious ascension, the fleshly adored perception, and honoring this with the right hand of the Father, grant me the right part of those who are being saved by the sacrament of Thy Holy Mysteries. By the thread of Thy Comforter Spirit, holy vessels are sacred Thy disciples have done, friend, and show me that coming. Although the packs come to judge the universe with righteousness, please, and I find Thee on the cloud, the Judge and my Creator, with all Thy saints: yes, I endlessly praise and praise Thee, with Thy beginningless Father, and the Most Holy and Good and Life-giving Thy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. John Damascene , 4th
O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, alone having the power of man to forsake sins, for it is good and the Man-lover, despise my whole knowledge and not in the knowledge of sin, and grant me uncondemned communion of the Divine, and most glorious, and most pure, and life-giving Your Mysteries, not in heaviness, neither in torment, nor in the application of sins, but in cleansing, and sanctification, and betrothal of the future Belly and kingdom, in the wall and help, and in the objection of those who resist, in the destruction of many of my sins. Thou art the God of mercy, and bounty, and love for mankind, and we glorify Thee, with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. Basil the Great , 5th
We, Lord, as if I do not deserve to partake of the most pure Thy Body and honest Thy Blood, and I am guilty, and I drink judgment on myself, without judging the Body and Blood of Thy Christ and my God; But for Thy compassion, I daringly come to Thee, reclaiming: you poison My flesh, and drink My blood, he abides in Me, and I am in him. Be merciful for, O Lord, and do not expose me as a sinner, but do with me according to Your mercy; and may this holy be me for healing, and cleansing, and enlightenment, and preservation, and salvation, and for the sanctification of soul and body; to drive away every dream, and evil deed, and devil's deeds, mental in my success, acting, in boldness and love, even to You; in the correction of life and confirmation, in the return of virtue and perfection; in fulfillment of the commandments, in the Holy Spirit communion, in the way of the eternal belly, in response, favorable at Thy terrible judgment: not in judgment or in condemnation.

Prayer of St. Simeon the New Theologian , 6th
From bad lips, from a vile heart, from an unclean tongue, from the soul defiled, accept prayer, my Christ, and do not despise my words, below images, below innocence. May I speak boldly, I want it, my Christ, but teach me that it is fitting for me to do and speak: those who have sinned more than a harlot, you will also take away where you dwell, having bought the world, come to boldly anoint Your nose, my God, my Master and Christ. As if he did not reject the one who came from the heart, abhor me below, to the Word: Thine me, give me a nose, and hold and kiss, and tear streams, as if with a precious peace, to anoint this impudently. Wash me with my tears, cleanse me with them, the Word. Leave my sins as well, and grant me forgiveness. Weigh a multitude of evils, weighed and my scabs, and sore my sores: but weighed the faith, and the will of the zrisha, and hear the sighing. Thee, my God, my Creator, my Deliverer does not hide, below is a tearful drop, below a drop is a certain part. Thy eyes see my unfinished work, but in Thy bottom and still unfinished the essence is written to You. See my humility, see my labor, and forsake all sins, O God of all: yes, with a pure heart, trembling thought, and a contrite soul, I partake of Thy non-profane and Holy Mysteries, every poisonous image is revived and adored and all poisonous is revived and drunk with a pure heart; Thou art boh, my Lord: everyone who is poisonous to My Flesh, and drink My Blood, in Me, this one dwells, in him and I am seven. True is the word of every Lord and my God: partake of divine communion and idolizing graces, not for I am one, but with Thee, my Christ, the three-solar Light that enlightens the world. Yes, I will not be the only one besides Thee the Life-Giver, my breath, my belly, my joy, the salvation of the world. For this reason, for the sake of those who come to You, as if you see, with tears, and with a broken soul, I ask for deliverance of my sins, and to partake of Your life-giving and immaculate Sacraments without condemnation, may continue, as you advertise, with me you treasured: , the adorable will delight me more flatteringly, and the deceiver will lead away those who adore Your words. For this, for the sake of You, I fall, and the warmth of Ty cry: as thou hast received the prodigal, and the harlot who came, so accept me the prodigal and the filthy, Generous. With a contrite soul, now coming to You, vem, Savior, as another, like I, do not sin You, lower than the deed of deeds, even as I do. But this we pack, as not the majesty of sins, nor the multitude of sins surpasses my God, much patience, and extreme philanthropy; but with the mercy of compassion, warmly repenting, and cleanse, and the luminaries, and create the light, the partakers, the associates of Thy Divinity, do not envy, and the strange with both an Angel and a human thought, talk to them many times, like Thy true friend. This is insolently creating me, this one is stealing me, my Christ. And daring in Your rich blessing to us, rejoicing together and trembling, fire and partake of this grass, and strangely miracle, we irrigate unopened, as if the bush was burning in an ancient way. Now, with a grateful thought, with a grateful heart, grateful for my wealth, soul and body, I bow down and magnify, and praise Thee, my God, as a blessed one exists, now and forever.

Prayer of St. John Chrysostom, 7th
God, weaken, forgive me, my sins, the tree of Thy sinned, if in word, if in deed, if in thought, willingly or unwillingly, reason or foolishness, all forgive me as good and a Human Lover, and with the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother, Thy clever servants and holy powers, and all the saints who have delighted You from time immemorial, delight without condemnation to accept your holy and most pure Body and honest Blood, for the healing of soul and body, and for the cleansing of my wicked thoughts. For Thine is the kingdom and power and glory, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of his , 8th
I am pleased, Master Lord, that you come under the roof of my soul; but even before you want, like a Humanitarian, to live in me, daringly approaching: command, and open the doors, you alone created you, and when you enter with philanthropy as you are, enter and enlighten my darkened thought. I believe that you have done this: do not drive away the harlot who came to you with tears; below the publican you rejected the one who repented; below the thief, having come to know thy kingdom, thou hast driven away; below the persecutor who repented, thou didst, hedgehog: but from repentance to Thee who came all, in the person of Thy friends, Thou didst repent, the One blessed one always, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer of his own, 9th
O Lord Jesus Christ, my God, weaken, leave, cleanse and forgive me the sinner, and the indecent, and unworthy of Thy servant, sins, and sins, and my fall, my tree from my youth, even to the present day and hour of those who have sinned: if in the mind and in foolishness, even in words or deeds, or thoughts and thoughts, and undertakings, and all my feelings. And through the prayers of the seedless birth of Thee, the Most Pure and Ever-Virgin Mary, Your Mother, uniting the unashamed hope and intercession and my salvation, grant me uncondemned communion of Your most pure, immortal, life-giving and terrible Sacraments, for the forgiveness and illumination of sins and sanctifying eternal life strength, healing, and health of the soul and body, and into the consumption and all-perfect destruction of my wicked thoughts, and thoughts, and undertakings, and night dreams, dark and wicked spirits; as Thine is the kingdom, and power, and glory, and honor, and worship, with the Father and Thy Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. John Damascene, 10th
I stand before the doors of Thy temple, and I do not retreat from fierce thoughts: but You, Christ God, justified the publican, and had mercy on the Canaanite, and opened the doors to the robber of paradise, open the womb of Thy philanthropy, and receive me, who comes and touches Thee, like a harlot, and bleeding : Ova ubo touched the edge of Thy robe, make your healing pleasurable: Ova, however, Thou most pure, restrained Thy nose, carried the resolution of sins. But I, accursed, daring to perceive all Your Body, may I not be disgraced; but accept me, as if they were, and enlighten my spiritual feelings, burning my sinful guilt, with the seedless prayers of the Birth of You, and of the Heavenly Powers: as you are blessed forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. John Chrysostom
I believe, Lord, and I confess that you are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came to the world of sinners to save, from them I am the first. I still believe that this is Thy most pure Body, and this is Thy most honest Blood. I pray to You: have mercy on me, and forgive my sins, voluntary and involuntary, even in word, even in deed, even in knowledge and ignorance, and grant me uncondemned communion of Thy most pure Sacraments, for the remission of sins, and into eternal life. Amen.

Coming to communion, say within yourself the following verses of Simeon Metaphrast:
Behold, I proceed to Divine Communion.
For the clerk, don't scorch me with the introduction:
Thou art fire, unworthy to burn.
But cleanse me from all filth.

Then:

And poems:
Terrify the worshiping Blood, man, in vain:
There is fire, unworthy burning.
The Divine Body both adores me and nourishes:
Loves the spirit, but the mind feeds strangely.

Then the tropari:
You have delighted me with love, Christ, and you have changed me with your Divine diligence; but my sins have fallen into an insubstantial fire, and grant pleasure to the hedgehog in Thee: yes, exulting, I magnify, Better, Thy two comings.
Into the lights of Thy Saints, how can I enter the unworthy one? If I dare to take it into the palace, my clothes denounces me, as if I was not a marriage, and I will be bound by the outcast from the Angels. Cleanse, O Lord, the filth of my soul, and save me, like a Human Lover.

Also prayer:
Master of Humanity, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, may not this Holy One be in judgments, for a hedgehog unworthy of being: but for the purification and sanctification of the soul and body, and for the betrothal of the future life and kingdom. But for me, a hedgehog to cleave to God, there is good, lay in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

And again:
Thy secret supper today, Son of God, accept me a partaker: we will not tell Thy secret as an enemy, nor will I give a kiss to Ty, like Judas, but like a robber I confess Thee: remember me, Lord, in Thy Kingdom.

One should prepare for the Sacrament of the Eucharist both by repentance and by prayers for communion. The preparation must be not only fulfilling the prescribed precepts, but also changing the whole life, which includes following the gospel principles. Internal discipline is required that will help the believer to desire fellowship with Christ.

Prayer at home and in church

Prayer for communion and confession is home and church. Those who strive to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ need to prayerfully prepare for this significant event: to ascend more often and more zealously, to go to services.

On the eve of communion, it is supposed to attend an evening church service. For spiritual preparation in the evening at the service, you need to read Orthodox prayers before communion and confession. Follow-up to the sacrament can be found in every Orthodox prayer book.

There is a pious custom of reading the 3 canons and akathist. The canons are small prayers of a supplicatory nature, which contain the reasons for the requests and the requests themselves. An akathist for communion is a laudatory, hymnographic and spiritual work. Both the canons and the akathists were drawn up by saints or pious people. To the canons before The following texts are referred to as the Sacrament of the Sacrament:

  • repentant to the Lord Jesus;
  • prayer service to the Most Holy Mother of God;
  • to the Guardian Angel.

In the first week after Easter (it is also called the Bright Week), instead of prayers for confession and communion, Orthodox Christians traditionally read the canon of Easter.

Features of abstinence

Reading prayers before confession and communion is not the only condition for preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist: on the eve it is supposed to perform a liturgical fast... For neophytes (novices), as well as those who did not observe the fast abstinence established by the Church, the priest may set an additional time of abstinence for 3-7 days - before accepting the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

Fasting, in addition to restrictions on some foods, is to eat and drink less liquids than usual, as well as refrain from attending entertainment events, watching entertaining movies and TV shows. Physical and spiritual cleanliness must be maintained. Married people should refrain from intimate contact on the eve and after communion.

Before the acceptance of Christ's Mysteries, strict fasting begins from midnight - absolute abstinence from drinking and eating. Those who are addicted to smoking should stop smoking cigarettes. The same goes for alcohol addicts and drug users.

A priest's blessing must be received for the sacrament. Vital medicines are not food and can be taken after midnight.

Preparing for confession and communion

Those who prepare for the Sacrament of the Eucharist must make peace with everyone and protect their souls from anger and irritability. It is important to restrain oneself from condemnation and any bad thoughts, being, as far as possible, alone, in the reading of the Gospel, the works of the Holy Fathers and other spirit-bearing books. Before accepting the Holy Mysteries, you need to properly adjust yourself in order to cleanse your spirit in the Sacrament of Confession:

Before accepting the Holy Mysteries, in some churches, babies and the sick are confessed. Going to confession when the morning service is already underway is an extreme neglect and disdain for the Sacrament.

Children under the age of 7 receive communion without confession (in the future they will have the opportunity to attend confession not before every Eucharist, but having received the priest's blessing for this).

Correct communion

The Holy Gifts are taken out of the altar, proclaiming that it is necessary to approach the sacrament with fear and faith. It is ordained to receive the Sacrament after monks, children, the elderly and sick parishioners. Approaching the Holy Chalice, you must fold your arms over your chest in a special way.(right top, left bottom).

Before the Chalice itself, you should not cross yourself with the sign of the Cross: otherwise, you can involuntarily hook and push it. Approaching the priest, you need to clearly state the name that was given on the day of Baptism - in full, without abbreviating it. Then open your mouth wide and reverently, receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, and immediately swallow it.

After that, without making the sign of the cross, one should kiss the edge of the Chalice and go to a special table to taste the service bread and wash it down with warm water. The last steps are needed in order for the Sacrament to pass inside in the best way.

What to do after the Eucharist

At the end of the service, the priest invites the parishioners to kiss the Holy Cross. Before this reverent act, which is called "release", it is not proper to leave the temple. If after the Eucharist it is customary to read prayers of thanks in the parish, it is necessary after the release to stand closer to the reader and listen to them to the end. If the prayers are not read, you need to read them yourself at home.

On this day, it is necessary to reverently keep in oneself the "Christ received" and to behave with decency in order to heal one's soul and body.

How Often Should You Receive Communion

Ancient Christians received the Sacraments every Day of Christ (that is, every Sunday), and in the 4th century Saint Basil the Great wrote: "We (that is, he and his monastic community) partake 4 times in 7 days."

All the holy fathers of the Church speak of the frequent acceptance of Christ. The Sacrament itself contains the words recorded in the Gospel: “When they ate their food, Jesus took the bread and, having blessed it, broke it and, dividing it among the disciples, said: accept, eat: this is My Body. After that, taking the cup, he thanked the Heavenly Father and said to them: drink from it all, because it is My Blood, of the New Testament, which is shed for many - for the forgiveness of sins ”(Gospel of Matthew, chapter 26). The Evangelist Luke adds: “Do this in remembrance of Me” (chapter 22).

This call of the Savior to communion of the Holy Mysteries lives in the heart of every Christian and calls him to the main sacred rite in the life of a believer. Maximus the Confessor, saint and priest, testifies that no church sacrament can become perfect without the Eucharist. Therefore, Communion is called “the sacrament of the sacraments,” believing that it is in it that the grace-filled life is contained.

It is the Eucharist that makes the Church a real community, united by the Holy Spirit of God. Those events of history, in which the Eucharistic life in the Christian circle begins to weaken, illustrate that this fatally affects people, and those years become very difficult for the fate of believers.

Of course, in the history of the existence of the Church there were times when it was very rare to partake of the Holy Mysteries. For example, the monks of the early days of Christianity, who were reclusive in the Egyptian desert, often did not have the opportunity to receive communion. This was partly due to the fact that there was nowhere to serve the Liturgy in the desert. In addition, in those days, priestly and monastic services were rarely combined, so the monks could not perform the Liturgy themselves.

Later, monasteries began to grow, large monasteries arose. In them, they began to ordain monks to the dignity - for divine services and the celebration of the Eucharist. This is how the priest-monks - hieromonks - appeared.

In modern monastic rules there is a note: a monk who has not received Communion for 2 weeks is not a monk.

Canonical prescriptions

From the point of view of the canons, which were established according to the recommendations and records of the saints and teachers of the Church, the practice of preparing to receive the Savior is established by the following prescriptions:

According to the decrees of the Ecumenical Councils held in Carthage and Trulla, partaking of the Body and Blood of the Savior is allowed only on an empty stomach. Saint Nicephorus teaches that a priest can give communion to a Christian lying on his deathbed, even if he ate food or took medicine. Saint Timothy of Alexandria establishes the need for spouses to abstain from intimate contact on the night before participating in the Eucharist.

Confession and Communion are the most important Sacraments in the life of an Orthodox Christian. But not every parishioner knows how to properly prepare for them. Prayers before confession and communion are an important stage in thorough preparation for cleansing the soul and accepting the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

How to Prepare for the Sacraments

This is the cleansing of the human soul from its sinful state and preparation for the Sacrament of the Sacrament, in which the Christian is reunited with Christ, he tastes Divine grace, strength of spirit and the power of faith.

The sacrament of confession

Before communion, it is necessary to fast for 3-4 days: refuse to eat food of animal origin, entertainment, watching TV programs. During the preparation period, one should read the Bible, attend services, pray fervently in the temple and at home.

Preparation for Communion requires reading:

  • the canon of prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos;
  • canon to the guardian angel;

The canons can be read on any day, and the followings can be read in the morning of the day when the Sacrament will be performed. In most churches it is customary to make confession during the evening service, but in some parishes it is held in the morning on the eve of the Liturgy.

Important! Infants up to 7 years old can receive communion without confession, and they are not even forbidden to have a light breakfast. It is forbidden for ladies to receive communion during critical days. Young mothers can receive Holy Communion only 40 days after childbirth, and the cleric must read a special prayer over them.

What prayers should be read

Holy Communion is the Greatest Sacrament that enables each person to merge with Christ and draw closer to eternal life.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions, cleanse my iniquity. Wash me most of all from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin; for I know my iniquity, and my sin is before me I will take out. To Thee, who alone have sinned, and have done good before Thee; as if you were justified in your words, and conquer from time to time to judge Ti. Behold, in transgressions I am conceived, and in sins bore me my mother. Behold, you loved the truth; You have revealed your unknown and secret wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; wash me, and I will be white as snow. Give joy and joy to my hearing; the bones of the humble will be reborn. Turn away Thy face from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquity. Build a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Reward with me the joy of Thy salvation and, with the Spirit of the Lord, confirm me. Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will put calves on your altar.

The highest of heaven and the purest lordship of the sun, who has saved us from the oath, the Lady of the world will be honored with songs.

From many of my sins my body is weak, and my soul is weak; I run to You, More Graceful, hopelessly unreliable, You help me.

Mistress and Mother of the Redeemer, accept the prayer of Your unworthy servants, and intercede with Him who is born of You; Oh, Lady of the world, wake the Supplier!

We sing diligently to Thee a song now, to the all-chanted Mother of God, joyfully: with the Forerunner and all the saints, pray to the Mother of God, the hedgehog to honor us.

All the angels of the army, the Forerunner of the Lord, the twelve apostles, holy all with the Mother of God, create a prayer, in the hedgehog we will be saved.

Prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos

Holy Mother of God, save me.

My blessed queen, my hope to the Mother of God, friend of the orphaned and strange to the representative, grieving for joy, offended by the patroness! Behold my misfortune, behold my sorrow, help me as if I am weak, feed me as strange. My grievance is weighing, resolve that, as if you will: as if not an imam of any other help unless you, not another representative, not a good comforter, only to you, oh God, as if save me and cover me forever and ever. Amen.

To whom shall I cry, Lady? To whom shall I resort in my sorrow, if not to You, Queen of Heaven? Who will receive my weeping and my sighing, if not You, Most Immaculate, the hope of Christians and a refuge for us sinners? Who else will protect you in adversity? Hear my groaning, and incline Thy ear to me, the Lady of the Mother of my God, and do not despise me, who requires Thy help, and do not reject me, a sinner. Give some understanding and teach me, Queen of Heaven; do not depart from me, Thy servant, Lady, for my murmuring, but wake me Mother and intercessor. I entrust myself with Thy merciful protection: bring me, a sinner, to a quiet and serene life, and lament for my sins. To whom shall the guilty I resort, if not to You, the hope and refuge of sinners, the hope of Thy ineffable mercy and Thy compassion? Oh, Lady Queen of Heaven! You are my hope and refuge, protection and intercession and help. My beloved queen and an early intercessor! Cover my transgressions with Your intercession, protect me from the enemies visible and invisible; soften the hearts of wicked people who rise up against me. Oh, Mothers of my Lord Creator! You are the root of virginity and the unfading color of purity. Oh, Mother of God! Thou shalt give me help to those who are weak with fleshly passions and a sick heart, Thy is one and Thy Son and our God Imam intercession with Thee; and by Thy wonderful intercession, may I be saved from all misfortune and misfortune, O most blameless and most glorious God Mother Mary. The same, with hope, I say and cry: Rejoice, gracious, rejoice, overjoyed; rejoice, blessed one, the Lord is with you.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Holy Angel of God, my guardian, pray to God for me.

To the holy angel of Christ, I pray to you, my holy guardian, given to me for the observance of my sinful soul and body from holy baptism, and with my laziness and my evil custom, the wrath of your most pure grace and drive away from myself with all the cold deeds: lies, slander , envy, condemnation, contempt, disobedience, brotherly hatred, and malice, love of money, adultery, rage, avarice, overeating without satiety and drunkenness, polyphony, evil thoughts and crafty, proud custom and lustful self-indulgence for all him. Oh, my evil will, he and cattle do not do wordlessness! But how can you gaze at me, or approach me, like a stinking dog? Whose eyes, angel of Christ, look at me, wrapped in evil in vile deeds? But how can I already be able to ask for absolution through my bitter and evil and crafty deed? But I pray to you, falling down, my saint keeper, have mercy on me, your sinful and unworthy servant (name), be my helper and intercessor for the evil of my resistance, with your holy prayers, and create the Kingdom of God, partaker of me with all the saints, always, and now and forever and ever. Amen.

Come, let us worship our Tsar God. (Bow)

Come, let us worship and fall down on Christ, our King God. (Bow)

Come, let us worship and fall down to Christ Himself, the Tsar and our God. (Bow)

Psalm 22

The Lord feeds me, and will deprive me of nothing. In the place of zlachne, tamo instilled in me, on the water raised me calmly. Turn my soul, guide me on the path of righteousness, for your name's sake. If I go in the middle of the mortal shadow, I will not fear evil, as if You are with me, Your rod and Your club, that comforter me. Thou hast prepared a meal in front of me to resist those who are cold to me, thou hast anointed my head with barely, and Thy cup are intoxicating me, like a sovereign. And Thy mercy will marry me all the days of my life, and hedgehog it into the house of the Lord, in the longitude of the days.

Psalm 23

The Lord's earth, and its fulfillment, the universe, and all that dwell on it. That one founded it on the seas, and prepared it on the rivers. Who will ascend to the mountain of the Lord? Or who will be in His holy place? The rukama is innocent and pure in heart, who does not take his soul in vain, and they do not swear by their sincere flattery. He will receive blessing from the Lord, and alms from God, his Savior. This is the race of those who seek the Lord, seeking the face of God, Jacob. Take up the gates of your princes, and take up the eternal gates; and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord is strong and strong, the Lord is strong in battle. Take up the gates of your princes, and take up the eternal gates, and the King of Glory will enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of forces, the One is the King of Glory.

Psalm 115

Faithful, the same verbs, but I was very humbled. But I am in my speech: every man is a lie. What will I repay the Lord for all, even retributions? I will receive the cup of salvation, and I will call upon the name of the Lord; I will repay my prayers to the Lord in the presence of all His people. Honest before the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, I am Thy servant, I am Thy servant and the son of Thy handmaid; Thou art tore apart my bonds. I will devour thee sacrifice of praise, and in the name of the Lord I will call. I will repay my prayers to the Lord in the presence of all His people, in the courtyards of the house of the Lord, in your midst, Jerusalem.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, both now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Alleluia. (Three times with three bows)

Tropari, voice 8

Despise my iniquity, O Lord, of the Virgin born, and cleanse my heart, then creating a temple to Your most pure Body and Blood, below, take me away from Your face, have great mercy without number.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Into the sacrament of Thy holy things, how dare I [enter], unworthy one? Ashe, I dare to approach You with the worthy, the tunic denounces me, as if I wear an evening one, and I am condemning my sinful soul. Cleanse, O Lord, the filth of my soul, and save me, like a Human Lover.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Many a multitude of my sins, the Mother of God, of sins, come to You, Pure, demanding salvation: visit my feeble soul, and pray to Thy Son and our God, give me forgiveness, even fierce deeds, Blessed One.

[On the Holy Forty Day:

When I am enlightened to the glory of a disciple at the supper, then Judas, the wicked love of money, became darkened, and betrays the righteous Judge to the wicked judges of Thee. See, the estates to the zealot, who have used these for the sake of strangling: flee unfulfilled souls, to the Teacher such daring. Like all good Lord, glory to Thee.]

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions, cleanse my iniquity.

Canon, voice 2nd. Song 1

Irmos: Come people, let us sing a song to Christ God, who divided the sea, and who instructed the people, even from the Egyptian work, as if glorified.

The bread of the everlasting belly may be Thy Holy Body, more blessed O Lord, and Honest Blood, and the disease of manifold healing.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

With my tears, give me drops, Christ, the filth of my cleansing heart: as if I have cleansed my conscience, I come by faith and fear, Master, to the communion of Your Divine Gifts.

Let Thy Most Pure Body and Divine Blood, Holy Spirit communion, and into eternal life, Humanity, and alienation of passions and sorrows be forgiveness of sins.

Thou wished, to incarnate for our sake, Most Merciful, slain to be like a sheep, sin for the sake of men: the same I pray to Thee, and cleanse my sins.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and Thy Holy Spirit do not take away from me.

Heal my souls ulcers, O Lord, and sanctify everything: and grant, O Lord, as if I will partake of Thy secret Divine Supper, accursed one.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokos: Make mercy to me from Thy womb, Lady, and keep me, Thy servant's immorality and blameless, as if the reception of clever beads, I will be sanctified.

Irmos: the Giver of Light and the Creator of the ages, Lord, in the light of Your commands, instruct us; don't we know another god for you.

As Thou didst predict, Christ, that Thy wicked servant should be, and abide in me, as Thou didst promise: Behold, Thy Body is Divine, and I drink Thy Blood.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and Thy Holy Spirit do not take away from me.

To the Word of God and God, the coal of Thy Body, let Thy blood be darkened to me for enlightenment, and the cleansing of my defiled soul.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokos: Mary, Mother of God, fragrant honest village, with your prayers make me the chosen vessel, as if I will partake of your Son's consecration.

Song 6

Irmos: Rolling around in the abyss of sinfulness, I call upon the abyss unseen by Thy mercy: from aphids, God, erect me.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

Sanctify the mind, soul and heart, Savior, and my body, and vouchsafe, without condemnation, Vladyka, to approach the terrible Mysteries.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and Thy Holy Spirit do not take away from me.

Let him be removed from the passions, and Your grace would have application, the belly affirmation, by the communion of the Saints, Christ, Your Mysteries.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokos: God, God, the Holy Word, sanctify all of me, now coming to Thy Divine Mysteries, Thy Holy Mother with prayers.

Kontakion, voice 2nd

Bread, Christ, take, do not despise me, Thy Body, and Thy Divine Blood now, most pure, Lord, and Thy terrible Mysteries, partake of the accursed communion, may it not be in judgment, may it be in the eternal and immortal belly.

Canto 7

Irmos: The wise children did not serve the golden body, and they themselves went into the flame, and cursed their gods, in the midst of the flame, I cried out, and I sprinkle the Angel: I heard your prayer already.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

The source of the good, communion, Christ, Your now immortal Sacraments, let there be light, and belly, and dispassion, and to the perfection and multiplication of the virtue of the Divine, intercessionally, only Better, as if I glorify Thee.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokos: Who gave birth to the Savior of Christ more than mind, God-gracious, I pray to Thee now, Thy servant, Pure unclean: whoever wants me now to approach the most pure Mysteries, cleanse everything from the filth of flesh and spirit.

Canto 8

Irmos: Into the fiery cave to the Jewish youth who descended, and flame into the dew of the transformed God, sing the deeds like the Lord, and exalt for all eternity.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

Heavenly, and terrible, and Thy saints, Christ, now the Mysteries, and Thy Divine and secret suppers of a fellowship to be and vouch for me desperate, O God, my Savior.

Benevolence has resorted to Thy, Better, with fear I call Ty: abide in me, Savior, and I, as you advertised, in Thee; Behold, daring to Thy mercy, I am Thy Body, and I drink Thy Blood.

Chorus: Holy Trinity, our God, glory to Thee.

Canto 9

Irmos: The Son, God and the Lord of the Parent is without beginning, incarnate from the Virgin to us, appear darkened to enlighten, gather the wasted one: by this we magnify the all-chanting Mother of God.

Chorus: Create a pure heart in me, O God, and renew the spirit of rights in my womb.

Christ is there, taste and see: the Lord for us, for our sake, who was more ancient for us, brought Himself as one, as an offering to His Father, will ever be hardened, sanctify those who partake.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Thy presence, and Thy Holy Spirit do not take away from me.

May I be sanctified in soul and body, O Lord, may I be enlightened, may I be saved, may I be Your house by the communion of the sacred Mysteries, having You living in me with the Father and the Spirit, the Benefactor of the Most Merciful.

Chorus: Give me the joy of Thy salvation and confirm me with the Spirit of the Lord.

Let fire be mine, and like light, Thy Body and Blood, my Savior, most honorable, scorching sinful substance, burning thorns of passions, and enlightening me all, worship Thy Divine.

Chorus: Holy Mother of God, save us.

Theotokos: God is incarnate from Thy pure blood; even so, every race sings to Thee, the Lady, the clever ones glorify the multitudes, as if by Thee they see the Lord in all, realized by mankind.

It is worthy to be like truly blessed Theotokos, the Most Blessed and Most Immaculate and the Mother of our God. The most honest Cherubim and the most glorious without comparison Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption, we magnify the Mother of God.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (Three times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, both now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquity; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.

Lord have mercy. (Three times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, both now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

If it is a week, the troparion is Sunday by voice. If not, the real troparia, voice 6:

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us; every answer is bewildering, this Ti prayer, like the Master, we bring sinners: have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Lord, have mercy on us, in You with hope; Do not be angry with us, remember our iniquities below, but look after us and now, as if you are well-to-do, and deliver us from our enemies. Thou art our God, and we are Thy people, all works Thy hand, and we call on Thy name.

And now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Open the doors of mercy to us, blessed Mother of God, hoping in Thee, may we not perish, but may we get rid of Thy troubles: Thou art the salvation of the Christian race.

Lord have mercy. (40 times) And bows as much as you want.

Although a human being, the Body of the Lord,

Start with fear, but do not be scorched: there is more fire.

Drinking the Divine Blood for communion,

First, reconcile thee to those who grieve.

The same daring, mysterious poison.

Other verses:

Before the sacrament of the terrible sacrifice,

Lord's Life-giving Body,

Sim pray in a way with trembling:

Prayer 1, Basil the Great

Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the Source of life and immortality, of all creatures visible and invisible to the Makeerer, of the beginningless Father, co-perceiving to the Son and primordial, for the sake of goodness in the last days in the flesh was clothed, and crucified, and buried behind us ungrateful and evil Renewed with blood our nature corrupted by sin, Himself, the Immortal King, accept my sinful repentance, and incline Thy ear to me, and hear my verbs. Those who have sinned, O Lord, who have sinned into heaven and before You, and I am worthy to look at the height of Your glory: in anger for Your goodness, having transgressed Your commandments, and disobeying Your commands. But Thou, Lord, you are not malignant, long-suffering and many-merciful, Thou art not betrayed me to perish with my iniquities, waiting in every possible way for my conversion. Thou art more, Thou art loving man, Thy prophet: as if I want I do not want the death of a sinner, but a hedgehog will turn and live to be him. Do not want to, Master, destroy Your hand, beneath the favor of the death of humanity, but want everyone to be saved, and come to the mind of truth. The same and I, if I am not worthy of heaven and earth, and sowing temporary life, having obeyed sin altogether, and enslaved with sweetness, and defiled your image; but when Thy creation and creation were, I do not despair of my salvation, accursed one, I daring to come to Thy immeasurable benevolence. To her, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, and may not in the judgments be the communion of Thy most pure and life-giving Mysteries, lower may I be weak in soul and body, from a hedgehog unworthy to take communion, but grant me, even to my final breath, not condemned part of Thy holy things, in the Holy Spirit communion, in the way of the eternal life, and in a favorable response to Thy terrible judgment: as if I and all Thy elect would be a fellowship of Thy incorruptible blessings, even Thou art prepared for those who love Thy, Lord, in them Thou art was glorified in eyelids. Amen.

Prayer 2, St. John Chrysostom

O Lord my God, vem, as if I am worthy, I am satisfied below, but under the roof of the temple of my soul, now I’m all empty and fell to eat, and I do not deserve a place in me for a hedgehog head: but as if from above for our sake you humbled yourself, humble yourself and now to my humility; and as if you perceived in the nativity scene and in the dumb manger near the neighborhood, perceived my soulless soul in the manger and in my defiled body. And as if you were not unworthy to bring in, and to light up sinners in the house of Simon the leper, so please, take in my humble soul, leper and sinner, into the house; and as if you didn’t reject such a harlot and sinner who came and touched You; And as if you did not abhor her foul lips and unclean ones that kiss You, abhor my filthy lips and unclean ones, lower than my vile and unclean lips, and my foul and unclean tongue. Amen.

Prayer 3, Simeon Metaphrastus

Alone pure and incorruptible Lord, for the inexpressible mercy of humanity, our all perceived confusion, from pure and virgin blood more than the nature of the birth of Thee, the Divine Spirit by the invasion, and the grace of the ever-present Father, Christ Jesus, the wisdom of God, and peace, and power; By your perception, life-giving and saving suffering, perceived, cross, nails, spear, death, kill my soulful bodily passions. By Thy burial of hell, captive of the kingdom, bury my good thoughts, crafty counsel, and ruin the spirits of crafty. Having raised up your fallen forefather by Thy three days' and life-giving resurrection, raise me up with sin that crawled, offering images of repentance to me. By Thy glorious ascension, the fleshly, dear perception, and honoring this with the right hand of the Father, grant me the right part of those who are saved by the sacrament of Thy Holy Mysteries. Amen.

Prayer 4, his

As if on Thy terrible and impartial face the Judgment, O Christ God, and lifting up condemnation, and creating a word about the evil I have done; But today, before even dwelling the days of my condemnation, at Thy holy Altar, standing before You and before Thy terrible and holy Angels, bowed from my conscience, I bring my deceitful and lawless deeds, manifest this and denounce. See, O Lord, my humility, and forgive all my sins; see that my iniquity is multiplied more than the power of my head. Someone do not do evil? Cue sin didn’t commit? What evil have I not imagined in my soul? Already deeds are deeds: fornication, adultery, pride, arrogance, reproach, blasphemy, idle talk, inappropriate laughter, drunkenness, guttural laughter, greed, hatred, envy, avarice, covetousness, covetousness, pride, popularity, malice, theft, wrongdoing , slander, lawlessness; every feeling of mine and every oud of the defiled, corrupted, obscene have done, doing the devil in every way. And we, O Lord, as my iniquity has surpassed my head; but there are immeasurable multitudes of Thy compassions, and mercy is inexpressible, Thy kindness of Thy goodness, and there is no sin, conquering Thy humanity. The same, wonderful King, gentle Lord, surprise your mercy on me, a sinner, show your goodness your strength and reveal the strength of your gracious mercy, and converting, accept me a sinner. Accept me, as thou didst receive the fornicator, the robber, the harlot. Accept me, immeasurably, both in word and deed, and vain lust, and sinning Thou with a wordless thought. And as if at the eleventh hour, you received those who came, who had done nothing worthy, so accept me, a sinner: many have sinned and defiled, and grieved Thy Holy Spirit, and grieved Thy human-loving womb and by deed, and by word, burden and thought, days, both manifest and non-manifest, willingly and unwillingly. And we, as if imagine my sins before me, these are what you have done by me, and torture the word with me about their minds who have sinned unforgiven. But Lord, Lord, let not Thy righteous judgment, denounce me lower with Thy wrath, punish me with Thy wrath; have mercy on me, Lord, for I am not only weak, but also Thy creature. Thou, O Lord, Thou hast established Thy fear on me, but I have done evil before Thee. Thou shalt fear the one who have sinned, but I pray to Thee, do not enter into judgment with Thy servant. If the lawlessness is nazrishi, Lord, Lord, who will stand? I am the abyss of sin, and I am worthy, below I am content to gaze and see the height of heaven, from the multitude of my sins, they are innumerable: every evil deed and deceit, and Satan's trick, and corruption, malice, advice to sin and other numerous passions are not depleted from me. Kiimi bo was not seduced by sins? Kiimi not contained by evil? Every sin you have injected, you have put every filth in my soul, is obscene to You, my God, and to man. Who will raise me up, with a bit of evil and a bit of fallen sin? Lord my God, in Thee hopes; if there is hope of salvation, if your love for mankind triumphs over my multitudes of iniquities, wake me a savior, and according to your mercies and your mercy, weaken, leave, forgive me, all the tree you have sinned, for my soul will be filled with many evils, and not be in me salvation of hope. Have mercy on me, God, according to Thy great mercy and do not reward me according to my deeds, and do not condemn me according to my deeds, but turn, intercede, deliver my soul from the evils and fierce perceptions that are growing together with it. Save me for the sake of Thy mercy, that even where sin multiplies, Thy grace abound; and I will praise and glorify Thee always, all the days of my life. Thou art the God of those who repent and the Savior of those who sin; and to You we glorify with Your Beginning Father and the Most Holy and Good, and Your Life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 5, St. John of Damascus

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, alone having the power of man to forsake sins, for it is good and the Man-lover, despise my whole knowledge and not in the knowledge of sin, and grant me uncondemned communion of the Divine, and most glorious, and most pure, and life-giving Your Mysteries, not in heaviness, neither into torment, nor into the application of sins, but into cleansing, and sanctification, and betrothal of the future Belly and kingdom, into the wall and help, and into the objection of those who resist, into the destruction of many of my sins. Thou art the God of mercy, and bounty, and love for mankind, and we glorify Thee, with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 6, St. Basil the Great

We, Lord, as if I unworthily partake of the most pure Thy Body and the honest Thy Blood, and I am guilty, and I drink judgment on myself, not judging the Body and Blood of Thy Christ and my God, but for Thy compassion I dare to come to Thy recruiting: My poisonous flesh and drink my blood, he abides in me, and I am in him. Be merciful for, O Lord, and do not expose me as a sinner, but do with me according to Your mercy; and may this holy be me for healing, and cleansing, and enlightenment, and preservation, and salvation, and for the sanctification of soul and body; to drive away all dreams, and evil deeds, and devil's deeds, thoughtfully acting in my success, in boldness and love, even to You; in the correction of life and confirmation, in the return of virtue and perfection; in fulfillment of the commandments, in the Holy Spirit communion, in the way of the eternal belly, in response, favorable at Thy terrible judgment: not in judgment or in condemnation.

Prayer 7, Saint Simeon the New Theologian

From bad lips, from a vile heart, from an unclean tongue, from the soul defiled, accept prayer, my Christ, and do not despise my words, below images, below innocence. Give me boldly verb, I want it, my Christ, but teach me more that it is fitting for me to create and verb. Those who have sinned more than a harlot, I will also take you away where you dwell, having bought myrrh, come boldly to anoint Your noses, my God, my Master and my Christ. Weigh a multitude of evils, weighed and my scabs, and sore my sores, but weighed the faith, and the will of the zrisha, and hear sighing. Thee, my God, my Creator, my Redeemer does not hide, below is a tearful drop, below a drop is a certain part. Thy eyes see my unfinished work, but in Thy bottom and still unfinished the essence is written to You. See my humility, see my labor, and forsake all sins, O God of all: yes, with a pure heart, trembling thought, and a contrite soul, I partake of Thy non-profane and Holy Mysteries, every poisonous image is revived and adored and all poisonous is revived and drunk with a pure heart; Thou art boh, my Lord: everyone who is poisonous to My Flesh, and drink My Blood, in Me, this one dwells, in him, and I am. For this reason, for the sake of those who come to You, as if you see me, with tears, and with a broken soul, I ask for deliverance of my sins, and to partake of Your life-giving and immaculate Sacraments without condemnation, may continue, as you advertise, with me treasured: may you not receive me besides The adorable will delight me more flatteringly, and the deceiver will lead away those who adore Your words. For this, for the sake of You, I fall, and warmly cry Ti: as thou hast received the prodigal, and the harlot who came, so accept me the prodigal and the filthy, Generous. With a contrite soul, now coming to You, vem, Savior, as another, like I, do not sin You, lower than the deed of deeds, even as I do. But this we pack, for it is not the majesty of sins, nor the multitude of sins that surpasses my God, much patience, and extreme philanthropy; but with the mercy of compassion, warmly repenting, and cleanse, and the luminaries, and create the light, the partakers, the associates of Thy Divinity, do not envy, and the strange with both an Angel and a human thought, talk to them many times, like Thy true friend.

Prayer 8, St. John Chrysostom

Amen.

His 9th

I am pleased, Master Lord, that you come under the roof of my soul; but you still want to, like a Man-lover, to live in me, daring to begin; command, so I will open the doors, you alone created art, and entered with philanthropy as you were, enter and enlighten my darkened thought. Amen.

His 10th

O Lord Jesus Christ, my God, weaken, leave, cleanse and forgive me the sinner, and the indecent, and unworthy of Thy servant, sins, and sins, and my fall, my tree from my youth, even to the present day and hour of those who have sinned: if in the mind and in foolishness, even in words or deeds, or thoughts and thoughts, and undertakings, and all my feelings. And with the prayers of the seedless birth of Thee Most Pure and Ever-Virgin Mary, Your Mother, uniting the unashamed hope and intercession and my salvation, grant me uncondemned communion of Your most pure, immortal, life-giving and terrible Your Sacraments, for the forgiveness of sins, enlightenment and eternal life: strength, healing, and health of the soul and body, and into the consumption and all-perfect destruction of my wicked thoughts, and thoughts, and enterprises, and night dreams, dark and wicked spirits; as Thine is the kingdom, and power, and glory, and honor, and worship, with the Father and Thy Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer 11, St. John of Damascus

I stand before the doors of Thy temple, and I do not retreat from fierce thoughts; but thou, Christ God, justifying the publican, and having mercy on Canaanite, and opening the door to the robber of paradise, open the womb of Thy humanity to me, and receive me that comes and touches Thee, like a harlot, and bleeds: Ova, touching the edge of Thy robe, comfort her healing But having restrained Thy most purely nose, I have borne the resolution of sins. But I, accursed, daring to perceive all Your Body, may I not be disgraced; but accept me, as it were, and enlighten my spiritual feelings, burning my sinful guilt, with the seedless prayers of the Birth of You, and of the Heavenly Powers; as blessed art thou forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer of St. John Chrysostom

I believe, O Lord, and I confess that you are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came to the world of sinners to save, from them I am the first. Amen.

Coming to communion, say this prayer in your mind:

Master of Humanity, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, may not this Holy One be in judgments, for a hedgehog unworthy of being: but for the purification and sanctification of the soul and body, and for the betrothal of the future life and kingdom. But for me, a hedgehog to cleave to God, there is good, lay in the Lord the hope of my salvation.

Thy secret suppers are today, Son of God, take my partaker with me; We will not give you the secret of Thy enemy, nor will I give you a kiss, like Judas, but like a robber I confess Thee: remember me, Lord, in Thy Kingdom.

Preparation for Confession of Sins

During confession, a person is reconciled to Christ, he reveals his sins to Him in the presence of a cleric who is a “mediator” between God and man. At the end of the confession, the cleric reads a prayer of absolution over the confessor - he prays to God for the forgiveness of the sins of the repentant.

During confession, you need to talk only about your sins.

You should carefully prepare for confession, and for this you need to realize the sinfulness of your life and understand what sin is - any action or thought that is contrary to the Commandments.

  • Disbelief in God, creating idols for yourself, worshiping idols, communicating with magicians;
  • Neglect of people, condemnation of their shortcomings, fornication and depraved acts;
  • Murder;
  • Abortion, which is equivalent to murder (except for medical termination of pregnancy);
  • Theft of other people's property, lies and slander.

During the performance of the Sacrament, it is necessary to speak only about your sins, you do not need to minimize them or seek an excuse for them. You should not look for "church" words, you should describe your sins in ordinary language. You should not be ashamed of a priest when describing your misdeeds: a cleric accepts a lot of confessions and is not surprised at anything for a long time, and sins have not changed over the centuries, just each person describes them differently. A priest will never condemn a repentant, he can only give advice on how to act in a given situation, and he will surely pray for every sinner.

There is no need to start confession with "light" sins: breaking the fast, not attending worship services, wearing, for example, trousers (for women). God doesn't need to dig into the little things of the day. He expects from every confessor a renunciation of sin, love and full surrender of heart, patience and forgiveness. It is important to confess possible mortal sins: murder, theft, renunciation, adultery.

Important! The priest can order a penance. This means a prohibition for some time on communion, the creation of prayer, the performance of prostrations. This is not a punishment for sins, but a means for the destruction of sin and the cleansing of the soul.

Memo to those preparing for Holy Communion

The sacrament should be performed “not in court and not in condemnation,” for this it is necessary to fulfill a number of conditions.

Confession

  1. A person should understand that he will not only taste the Blood and Flesh of Christ, but will soon unite with the Creator for his sanctification and cleansing of sins.
  2. The partaker must be completely devoid of hypocrisy and must have the Fear of God, which is the beginning of human wisdom.
  3. The human soul should experience peace, it should be alien to malice, enmity and hatred. Only in this state can one approach the Chalice.
  4. It is forbidden to violate church canons, it is necessary to be within the framework of moral life. Only such people are given grace.
  5. Forgiveness of sins is mandatory before the performance of the Sacrament.
  6. It is necessary to observe the liturgical fast: from 24 o'clock the night before and until the very acceptance of the Holy Mysteries of Christ, it is forbidden to eat or drink anything. You must start Communion on an empty stomach. On the days of night services before the great holidays, the duration of the liturgical fast should be at least 6 hours. Relaxation is given only to seriously ill people: it is allowed to take medicines and drink them with a sip of water (but before communion it is necessary to notify the priest about this).
  7. It is important to observe marital fast for several days. But family circumstances should be taken into account, so that this fast is not to the detriment of the communicant and his family. During Bright Week, bodily fasting is allowed not to be observed.

In the church, after reading the prayer "Our Father", the sacrament should go to the altar and wait for the priest to bring out the Chalice with the Gifts. After the clergy leaves the royal doors, you should cross your arms over your chest (put your right hand on your left) and go to the Chalice in turn. The priest needs to voice his name given at baptism, and then reverently receive the Body and Blood of Christ, kiss the edge of the Chalice, go to the table, where pieces of prosphora and warmth are distributed to the partakers. But you can't go home yet; after the sermon, the priest will bring out the Crucifixion, to which you need to kiss with your lips.

Video about preparing for confession

Confession and Communion are related to the Sacraments of the Orthodox Church. Every day in their evening prayers, Christians ask the Lord forgiveness for the sins committed... The culmination of repentance is forgiveness and remission of sins, that is, Confession. First you need to understand what confession is. To accomplish it, you need to be baptized according to the Sacrament of the Church and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Confession as a Sacrament

Confession - cleansing from sins and the second baptism. With the Sacrament of Baptism, original sin is washed away. During confession, being washed with tears of repentance, there is a liberation from the sins committed.

Sin concept

In the process of knowing God, there is a realization of sin. Away from the Lord, sins do not interfere, they are not visible. When you approach God, you feel your sinfulness.

In the understanding of Orthodoxy sins are a multifaceted phenomenon... They may be:

  • deed facts;
  • thoughts, to be in a state of passions (the confession of thoughts is considered a monastic lot. People who do not have serious sins and often confess can repent of their thoughts).

For a start, it is better to confess the actual sins, that is, the deeds.

Sin is against the law of God... The Lord bestowed upon Moses, which are the foundation of Christian and human spirituality. You need to know these commandments, understand and fulfill them. We have to admit that humanity is mired in the abyss of sins.

Sins can be:

  • against the Lord God;
  • against a neighbor;
  • against himself;
  • condemning the Holy Spirit.

Sin is born of passion, which is in the depths of the soul. Passion itself is sin and the potential for committing sin by an act. For example, the passion of love of money (love of wealth), when indulged in it and under external circumstances, is transformed into the sin of theft. Located in the soul of man passions are primary sins because they induce sinful activities, to fall. Demons become sources of passion. Their extermination is the basis of Orthodox asceticism (the science of "spiritual work").

The soul must be protected for birth into the future Kingdom. Gradually sin mortifies and poisons her. With a frivolous attitude towards sins, the soul is killed. She can die in a living body.

Sins being committed outright insult to god, Heavenly Father. This will be followed by punishment. Each time he commits sins, a person becomes an accomplice in the crucifixion of Jesus. Living with this understanding is unbearable. Repentance and mercy are two aspects of the relationship between God and man. Confession absorbs these concepts into a single grace-filled action.

Sin is filth and confession - soul laundering that heals her sick and poisoned. In Orthodoxy, this happens in the holy Church. To receive the remission of sins, you need to accept the gift of God: the Sacrament of Confession.

For this you need:

  • Trust in God;
  • try to fulfill His commandments;
  • lament over your sins;
  • repent;
  • try not to repeat sins.

Only in this case can one count on the mercy of the Lord.

What prayers are read before confession:

  • morning and evening prayer rule, which must be read in full;
  • penitential canon;
  • prayer of Simeon the New Theologian.

There is no special preparation for confession. It can take place wherever there is an Orthodox priest. He is a prayer book, a supplicant for us before God and a witness that the Sacrament is carried out in a lawful manner. Confession does not require special fasting and prayer, but only faith and repentance.

Before preparing for confession, you need take a look at the soul... Analyze life from the point of view of the commandments. If necessary, write down the sins on the sheet so as not to miss anything. I am about the granting of true repentance and come to church for the Sacrament.

Orthodox literature can be used to help compose sins. Over time, one must learn to confess "from oneself," and not from books. Sins are known by the grace of God. If you know sins without faith, you can plunge into, not repent and get sick. One must not learn sins from a book, but from striving for God.

Confession

It is generally accepted to confess in the church during the divine service or at other times appointed by the priest. If it is impossible to visit the temple, if a person is sick, confession at home is possible. In the beginning, a Christian believer cannot confess all sins, but begins with small and insignificant ones. Then the sinner lets out grave sins. Believer himself must be ripe for this.

Confession is performed at different times:

  • at the evening service;
  • in the morning before the liturgy;
  • during the liturgy, before communion.

Confession takes place in front of the lectern in the side-altars, on the salt or in the narthex. Parishioners queue up so as not to interfere with those who repent.

Approaching the priest, you need to bow your head or kneel down. Kneeling is canceled from Easter to Trinity, on Sundays and great holidays. The priest covers the head of the sinner with an epitrachelion, prays, learns the name of the repentant and what he wants to confess before God. The confessor must repent of passions, infirmities and name specific sins. In some cases, for example, due to the illness of the penitent, the priest himself can read his sins from the sheet and forgive them.

After the recited confession, the priest asks questions, gives instructions or imposes (special obedience). Then he prays for the forgiveness of sins and reads the "permission" prayer. It is a seal confirming the fulfillment of the Sacrament.

After that, the forgiven sinner is baptized, kisses the cross and the Gospel, then asks for a blessing for the sacrament.

If you need the advice of a confessor, you need to come at another time. At confession, they only talk about sins, without justifying themselves, without condemning others, and ask for forgiveness for sins. It is not necessary to list all cases of sin specifically, it is better do it in general... Before the Sacrament, you need to reconcile with the offenders, if it is physically impossible to do this, then reconcile in your heart.

Sometimes, for some reason, confession is brief. After the priest's question: "Do you repent of your sins?", Answer: "I repent." After that, the "permissive" prayer is immediately read. There is no need to be embarrassed by such a confession, because it is complete. You can ask the priest to listen to the whole confession in the event that there is a sin that weighs on the soul.

No need to be embarrassed their sinfulness, since there are no unforgiven sins, except for the unconfessed ones. Among the saints there are people who used to be sinners. For fervent faith and sincere repentance, they received forgiveness and holiness. The first person to enter paradise was a repentant robber.

Do not be ashamed of a priest, he is not a holy person. He, convicted of glory and power in the Sacrament of the Priesthood, that is, strong in Christ. By nature, he is weak and sinful, like any person. Himself, being tempted, tempted can help.

The Lord is tempted in everything except sin. He was beaten, betrayed, humiliated. The apostles knew the experience of sin. They said: "Christ came into the world to save sinners, from them I am the first." The priest witnesses human repentance , brings the repentant and the Lord... The sinner confesses before God through the priest. Even vile sins do not cause him a bad attitude towards the repentant. A purified soul awakens positive emotions, love and joy. The priest keeps the secret of confession.

Unfortunately, sometimes people confess their whole lives, but they never repent. The believer decides for himself how many times and how often to confess. The measure of love for God determines this frequency. There are no generally accepted standards, each case is individual. At the beginning of churching, believers rarely come to confession, but then the soul will want it and burn with the desire to confess.

It is better to come to confession at every fast (4 times a year), once a month, and then on every Sunday. But all this is determined by the priest, he must understand who is in front of him and not give too much load at once.

General confession is needed only by those who want and need it. To do this, you need to find a priest who will help you pass it. At such a confession, a detailed analysis of all sins takes place. This is a long procedure and is most often practiced in monasticism.

In a general confession, the priest does not listen to every repentant. Such a confession takes place in parishes where it has justified itself and by blessing. Usually Orthodox parishioners are present there, who often confess and receive communion. Beginners shouldn't attend such confessions.

Previously, there were public confessions, but then there were few Christians. There was persecution against the Church of Christ, and people atoned for their sinfulness with blood, so they did not have many sins, only everyday ones. The church has increased in number and therefore there is a practice of secretly listening to everyone.

Participle

God himself set it is the Sacrament at the last meal with the apostles, on the night before His crucifixion. The Eucharist (Communion) is a return to the lost paradise, the union of the Creator with creation. The God-man Jesus brought the sacrifice of love to the Creator for us on the cross and restored the lost human essence. Those who have accepted the Body and Blood of the Savior become participants in this restoration. Man has departed from God voluntarily, and only by his own will he can again unite with the Creator.

During Communion, the grace of the Holy Spirit descends on bread and wine, this is Body and Blood of Christ... A person can accept these gifts only of his own free will. The Lord gives Himself to all, and only true believers take Him in.

Believers often consider themselves unworthy of the Sacrament. They forget that it exists for the unworthy. An Orthodox Christian should strive to receive communion regularly, because it is food for the soul.

Preparing for the Sacrament

The aim is not to comply with formalities, but finding a penitential state of mind... One must prepare for the participation in the Eucharist.

What prayers are read before the sacrament:

There are exceptions, for example, due to eye disease or bodily weakness. They replace the reading of the canons and akathists with the Jesus prayer and bows, everything is discussed in advance with the confessor.

Sacrament of the Sacrament

Before Communion, you should go to the evening service the day before. If there is confession at her, then confess. You can make confession in the morning before the Liturgy before Communion. In cathedrals and monasteries, liturgy is served daily, and in parish churches on Sundays and holidays. In some cases, the confessor allows a parishioner to take communion without prior confession.

The sacrament of the Eucharist occurs on an empty stomach. In the morning you need to brush your teeth, but you can't smoke. During the liturgy, it is necessary to prayerfully participate in the service. When the priest comes out of the altar with the chalice and proclaims: "Come near with the fear of God and faith," the sacraments line up in front of the pulpit one after another on the right side of the temple. First, the ministers of the altar, the monks, take communion, then the children, then the weak come, then the men, and finally the women. You need to bow to the ground in advance and fold your arms crosswise.

You cannot be baptized before the cup, so as not to accidentally overturn it. When the turn comes, stand in front of the priest, give the full name at baptism and open your mouth to accept a liar with a particle of the Body and Blood of Christ. Lick the liar after the lips get wet with the board and kiss the edge of the bowl (represents the rib of Christ). Do not touch the cup with your hands and do not kiss the hand of the priest. Then go back to the table and wash your mouth. In order not to expel the particles of the Gifts from oneself, drink the "wash down" (diluted wine with holy water) and take a particle of prosphora.

Women wash their lipstick before communion. You cannot receive communion during the period of female "impurity". After childbirth, they are admitted to Communion only by a special prayer of the priest. The church does not insist on a wedding and recognizes a registered marriage. Therefore, people who live in a civil marriage (live in the sin of fornication) are not allowed to take the sacrament.

How often to celebrate the Sacrament, the person himself decides, in consultation with the confessor. Frequent communion can become a habit. Then the believers again cultivate in themselves a thirst for the Eucharist and refrain from it for a period. According to the clergy, it is necessary to confess and receive communion during Great Lent or after committing a grave sin, when peace is lost in the soul. It is compulsory to come to Communion once a year.

Of the sick, the weak and the dying they receive communion at home with spare holy gifts. They are prepared on Maundy Thursday. They are in the tabernacle in the altar. The sick person must be conscious and clear of mind. They discuss with the priest in advance how to prepare the sufferer. At home, you need to prepare a table with a clean tablecloth, an icon, boiled water and a teaspoon. Prayers of thanks to the sick are read aloud. Often, after the sacrament, the sick and the infirm recover, because the sacrament sanctifies the physical and spiritual nature.

After Communion

It is imperative to reach the end of the liturgy and kiss the cross at the end. Listen to the Thanksgiving Prayers for Holy Communion in church or read them at home. They spend the whole day in godliness. On the day of communion, they do not bow down to the ground, with the exception of Great Saturday and Trinity.

Child in confession and communion

Childhood is paradise having committed the first sin, the child comes out of it. Children under seven years of age, who are considered babies in the Orthodox Church, receive communion without confession. Every visit to church should be a joy to the child, not a duty.

Preparing the child

It is necessary to gradually introduce the child to Orthodoxy. Systematically read prayers with the child, learn a prayer to the Guardian Angel. Children do not fast before the sacrament. But it is useful to read soul-saving books with the child: the Gospel, the lives of the saints.

For the infant's communion, one must come directly to the Sacrament and so that the child attended the liturgy. If children are properly taught to church service, then at the age of 7 they can withstand it all.

The child can behave restlessly at the Chalice, this is from the rare acceptance of the Sacrament. Infants are brought horizontally to the Cup, the head is held on the right hand. Hold the child's arms so that he does not push the Cup. Before communion, the child is not fed tightly. Grudnichkov are given communion only with the blood of Christ. When a child behaves calmly and takes frequent communion, then he may be given a small particle.

Due to lack of faith, some parents do not allow their child to receive communion. Explaining that from a spoon, which is one for everyone during the sacrament, you can get infected. it disbelief in the power of the Eucharist.

From the age of seven, the child begins to the Cup, having previously confessed. You need to carefully prepare for the first confession. You can find a priest with many children who will understand the child better. It will be easier for a child to make a confession with a father-grandfather, who has a lot of life experience.

Parents need to tell their child about the Sacraments of Confession and Communion in advance. Tell about sins and say that after confession you shouldn't sin again. You do not need to write sins on a piece of paper for the child or name the sins yourself. The child must think for himself and summarize his actions.

Family - small church and parents are examples of the Christian life. He and the godparents should church the child.

The desire to confess and receive communion is a good sign. The main thing is to approach this responsibly and with spiritual trepidation, "but not in court or in condemnation."

Appropriate preparations are required for any sacrament. But, most are not familiar with the process and are afraid to do something wrong.

What prayers should be offered before confession and sacrament?

The Sacrament is a sacrament designed to save the soul and which helps to unite with God. In the church, it is held during the Eucharist, in the morning from 7 to 10 hours. Then the akathist is read to Jesus the Sweetest.

Those who have passed:

  • baptism or acceptance of God as the One Sovereign, my sovereign over the soul;
  • confession - after it a person gains a pure heart and can accept God's mercies.

Not only adults, but also children can receive Holy Communion (the latter, preparation is not required). Actions in which a person has repented are completely forgiven, and pure faith allows one to free oneself and merge with the Almighty.

What is Confession?

It is not for nothing that confession is called the second baptism, because after it a person seems to be born again. Therefore, the ceremony becomes one of the main events in everyone's life.

It is carried out in 2 stages: preparation and confession in front of the priest in the church. The prayer before confession is read independently, thereby preparing the heart for purification, awareness of transgressions and their acceptance.

There is a direct connection between the two named sacraments, because they are elements of the same aspiration. Their main task is to help the parishioner to forgive sins and gain strength against the temptation to commit them in the future.

It is worth remembering that you are not allowed to take communion without confession. The only exceptions are infants and adults who are baptized the day before.

Preparing for the sacrament

Internal preparation is considered a serious stage: it is necessary to take control of emotions, not to condemn and not use foul language. You should also offer prayers before the sacrament 3-5 days in advance. But, if the parishioner has not previously come to services, does not know how to address the Mother of God and the Guardian Angel, then the preparation will take up to 7 days.

A person can also be blessed for a week of fasting with an appeal to the triune God: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. The process is called "fasting", which implies a spiritual struggle with duties and refusal to eat.

"... cleanse me, as iniquity ... Turn away your face from my sin ... cleanse my iniquity ...".

At the end, ask to receive favor from the church (Thy Zion).

Preparing for confession

Religious people want to redeem their duties and understand that this is impossible without repentance.

Prayers before confession provide a good guide, but internal preparation is also important when it is required:

  • confess misconduct, misconduct and stop making excuses;
  • to confess what you have done (the repentance of Basil the Great about disobeying "Your commands" and asking to save the soul helps a lot);
  • believe in divine mercy;
  • to be convinced that the sacrament will help the sinful and indecent to save the soul.

Preparation also includes drawing up a list of offenses on paper. There is no need to describe the details, just the very essence.

The list is given to the holy father, who reads prayers to the word of God. Terrible and grave sins are told out loud.

Do I need to pray before the ceremonies?

Preparation for the ordinance is considered essential, but some people skip this important step. Even when reading the usual prayers "Lord have mercy" and "Our Father", understanding, cleansing and forgiveness comes to a person. He comes to the ceremony prepared, with a pure and open soul.

Orthodox prayers help to rise higher spiritually and change life for the better. The power of turning to God increases during holy communion, as it is accomplished through a minister.

Do not neglect prayers - they are for the good of your soul.

Prayers before confession

People often have confusion about which prayers should be read before confession. The list is wide and don't worry if you miss a call. The main thing is to read consciously, sincerely and with a pure heart. All of them prepare the consciousness for confession.

These are the following prayers:

  • to the Father God with the words "... by the Most Holy and Good and Life-giving Thy Spirit";
  • John Damascene, especially revered in Christianity. His main address begins with the words: "I stand before the doors of your temple ...";
  • Basil the Great, where gratitude is expressed to the Almighty for the gifts "which you gave me" and praise his name "with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever ...";
  • St. Simeon, which speaks of repentance and salvation to the world;
  • St. Simeon, where it is said about the bridling of the soul "one who was united to You";
  • ecumenical saint John Chrysostom, who asks for a renewal of spirit, heart and the use of "Your Body" for dedication.

All appeals speak of the awareness of misconduct and end with the cry "Glory to Thee!" In addition to the listed list, 22, 23, the above 50th and 115th psalms are read.

A separate chapter is dedicated to the appeal-request of I. Damascene for the communion of the divine, most glorious, most pure Mysteries, which will be to every believer in the purification of the kingdom and in a solid stronghold. The call ends with the same words as the others: “everlastingly and forever and ever. Amen".

Prayers before the sacrament

Even if a parishioner confesses according to all the conditions, he may not be admitted to the Eucharist. Sometimes, he himself is not ready for the sacrament - then it is necessary to fulfill godly deeds (help, bows, etc.). If there is no prayer book at hand, then it is allowed to read “Amen. Our Father like him. "

The appeal speaks of many important things, in particular, about the debts "as well as we leave." After that, preparations for the ceremony will begin - the reading of the canons.

But, this must be done correctly: thoughtfully, in a quiet room, without rushing and without being distracted.

Basic canons:

  • canon of repentance to Jesus Christ: collected songs to the Savior, helping to soften the soul;
  • a canon of prayer to the Mother of God, consisting of the warmest invocations: the Mother of the Word, Your Most Pure and others. The people have never given so many gentle and beautiful names to any other;
  • the canon of the Heavenly Patron, Guardian Angel, which emphasizes the role of the spiritual patron of every believer.

The canons contain 8-9 songs: each song to Christ carries human feelings - hope for forgiveness, regret for sins, gratitude for mercy and longsuffering.

The canons have a clear structure, albeit slightly different from each other. It should be noted that they are sung not only before communion, but also in any spiritual sorrow.

Additionally read:

  • 3rd appeal of Simeon Metaphrastus, where you can find the following words: "... sacred Thy disciples made ...";
  • 2nd call of St. John Chrysostom, in which the request is made to direct "my belly" (the life of a believer) in the right direction;
  • 9th petition of st. John Chrysostom, containing grateful appeals to the Savior: "... Thy servant, sins and sins ...".

Prayers after the sacrament

The further behavior of the parishioner, after the sacrament, is very important: you cannot repeat the actions that have been forgiven and lead a riotous life.

Thank you texts will help to maintain the strength of the spirit:

  • 1st, in which Christians thank the Lord for their acceptance: "... into the enlightenment of my heart ... I remembered Your mercy ...";
  • St. Basil, where Christ my God is praised for the gifts sent down to ordinary people;
  • St. Simeon Metaphrastus helps to protect oneself from sins "Master, forgive me ...";
  • 4th about sending eternal life and forgiveness at the Day of Judgment: "... and your precious blood ...".

In conclusion, you can turn to the Mother of God "... save us, theotokos ...", the protector of believers before the Lord. It is advisable to address the saints every day.

Child in confession and communion

Children under 7 years old do not need to undergo training - they have a clean and bright soul. Everyone can bring a child to church to partake of the Gifts of Christ. At the same time, fasting and confession are not required.

But, it is advisable to prepare the baby at home:

  • learn the appeal to the Angel, if the child likes singing more, then you can learn the part "... make me worthy of him" and the refrain "Most Holy Theotokos, save us";
  • to accustom to church rules, but this must be done gently, so as not to cause rejection in the baby.

Older children and adolescents should have conversations, sort out prayers together "... my multitude of iniquities, wake me a savior, and according to Your mercies ..." and explain incomprehensible words.
