How to do the doors from polycarbonate: master class. Polycarbonate door for greenhouses: characteristics and recommendations for self-installing methods for opening sliding partitions

Most recently, the main purpose of polycarbonate was in the construction of country greenhouses, shower cabins, in the construction of canopies or visors over the porch. But today this material is successfully used when finishing apartments. So, by the successful design development of polycarbonate doors, which can be decorated not only to garden buildings, but also city premises.

Frame doors consist of wooden, plastic or metal frame, in which polycarbonate sheets are inserted.

A huge number of color options in which this building material is produced, allows you to make interroom structures that are fully appropriate to the style and shades of the apartment. Yes, and other advantages of doors made from polycarbonate with their own hands are obvious:

  1. The material has a small mass, which makes the designs of it with light and air.
  2. Polycarbonate elements are of greater reliability and safety than glass.
  3. Even cracked, polycarbonate is not scattered into small fragments.
  4. Care of elements from this material is very easy and simple.

Given the all the above dignity of the material, you can make interroom elements that have a long service life and durability.

Features of Polycarbonate Door Designs

Today, 2 options for the construction of interior structures from polycarbonate are developed with their own hands. So, you can make doors mounted or sliding. As well as conventional designs, mounted doors are traditional canvas installed using a special fastener on the door frame. An option of sliding elements was created on the principle of the coupe, where the flaps are revealed along the walls.

And those and others can be frame or frameless. To create framework elements, the base frameworks are used in which polycarbonate canvas are installed. Such frames can be metallic, plastic or wooden. In the creation of frameless elements, no other material is used, except for polycarbonate. Doors made of solid canvas look very beautiful and richly, but funds for their arrangement will have to spend a little more than on the creation of a design with a frame.

Algorithm of action on the manufacture of hinged doors

Polycarbonate is very lightweight in the processing material, therefore, in order to make the door from polycarbonate on its own, it will take quite a few tools. The minimum set consists of:

  • electric drills;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • level;
  • measuring tape measure;
  • construction countertop;
  • machine for cutting or jigsaw.

For a frame door must be prepared:

  • solid polycarbonate web or several pieces, in size of the corresponding doorway magnitude;
  • a corner of plastic or metal, a ram, the length of which is equal to the perimeter of the doorway;
  • self-tapping screw;
  • corners for fixing the sides of the frame;
  • fasteners for mounting the door design to the box.

For the manufacture of frameless products, only fasteners and a sheet of polycarbonate will be required.

The algorithm of action in the manufacture of elements from polycarbonate with their own hands is quite simple, and a person can easily cope with minimal joinery skills. An example of a framework is shown in the figure (image 1).

First of all, it is necessary to make measurements of the opening where the structure will be hung. In accordance with the measurements, the framework is made. It should be borne in mind that the frame should be slightly smaller than the opening, so all sides of the frame and the canvas should be reduced by 1-1.5 mm, which will allow the canvas to close firmly, but not a hobble door box.

In the manufacture of the frame, it is necessary to very carefully measure the rectangles of the design with the help of a square, otherwise the door simply will not enter the opening. In order to connect the frame from the bar, you can use special metal corners. If the frame is assembled from plastic or metal materials, the corners can not be applied. After assembly, the wooden frame should be given additional aesthetics, spaning it well and covering it with a mourn or varnish.

Frameless doors are made of solid polycarbonate sheet and have a higher price compared to frame doors.

You can also make a framework using the canvas old door. To do this, you need to put bars around the perimeter of the canvas, give them the necessary sizes using a jigsaw or machine and collect the framework. Then on the prepared frame with the help of self-screws and the screwdriver is fixed by a polycarbonate web.

In order for the door from polycarbonate to look more attractive, you can use self-tapping screws with decorative hats. Then the sheds that the door will be installed on the frame and box. After that, it can be attached to the design itself. Since polycarbonate is much easier than ordinary doors, one person will successfully cope with this work.

In the manufacture of frameless doors, the actions algorithm is even more simple. Here, just need to apply a sheet of material to the old door and cut the fabric of the desired size.

But it is necessary to remember that the doors of this species requires a very durable and reliable material, which is characterized by both quality and higher price.

Rules for manufacturing sliding doors

For the assembly of the sliding product, the following materials and tools will be required:

  • polycarbonate canvas height and 5-6 cm wide larger size of the doorway;
  • metal tube to create a 2 width of the doorway long;
  • fasteners;
  • anchors for fixing the metal tube;
  • a set of materials specified above.

When the sliding design is made, the work begins with the fastening of the guide. In this case, the metal tube must be fixed at a height of 5 to 10 cm above the doorway. One half of the tube is located directly above the doorway, the second is shifted along the plane of the wall in the direction where the door should open.

Then the rings are screwed with fasteners on the polycarbonate web, with which the cloth will move along the guide. Rings must be attached so that the door is at a distance of 1-1.5 mm from the floor. If the threshold is installed in the opening, then the canvas can be lowered slightly below it, which will create a more dense closing of the opening.

Rings with polycarbonate are hung on a guide, at the ends of which you need to install limiting elements. If necessary, handles are attached to the canvas. Elegant and safe door is ready!

The use of polycarbonate to create interroom doors with their own hands is the best option, in order to make your home more original and beautiful, without spending significant forces and means. These products will serve quite a long time, and if necessary, they can always be replaced with new ones.

New direction in the design of apartments and premises The use of polycarbonate, as a construction or finishing material.

When making a frame for the door, it is necessary to make it 1-1.5 cm less than the doorway.

Not so long ago, this material was used most of all on household plots for the construction of greenhouses and greenhouses, as well as canopies that were used to protect against rain. One of the innovations in design is the manufacture of interior doors from polycarbonate with their own hands. The variety of material colors allows you to choose the necessary color gamut, without spoiling the general design and design of the room as a whole.

Before using the material in the design of interroom doors, the polycarbonate was very widely used to make the elements of shower cabins. Such an application was not only convenient, but also practical. First, the material is lightweight and, accordingly, the design of the doors is easier than made from another material. Secondly, when compared with glass, polycarbonate is stronger and safer, it is not necessary to worry that if the sash slap is stronger, then the transparent elements will disarm the fragments. If the material was damaged, it does not split into small fragments like glass. Thirdly, when cleaning, the material is easier to wash and clean.

Using polycarbonate you can make 2 types of doors:

  • hinged;
  • sliding.

Mounted represent a traditional look and are attached with the help of canopies to the installed box.

Sliding represent the option of a compartment, in which one or two sash dropping along the plane of the walls.

Constructively divide them on:

  • framework;
  • frameless.

Frames are manufactured in the form of a frame that polycarbonate is installed. Frame - framework can be made of metal, plastic or wood. When making a wooden frame, it is recommended to use a poplar, since its wood is easy and will not make it harder your collected frame.

Frameless design refers to the elite class. Doors can be collected from polycarbonate with their own hands without a pre-assembled frame - frame, the sheet must be solid. Their kind of strict and rich, therefore the cost of their manufacture more.

Making a mounted door with your own hands

For the manufacture of interior doors, you will need a carpentry tool and consumables. Since the material is easy to process, the large set of tools and special fixtures will be required. The minimum set includes:

Mounted door scheme: 1. 2-millimeter steel on the smelting; 2. Polycarbonate; 3. door frame, M-shaped 40x4 mm profile; 4. mortise lock, window cleaner, etc.; 5 - glass on the smelting; 6 - plastic profile; 7. Glass; 8. Sheet steel; 9. Bolt with a secret head M 6x10; 10. The corners are fastened with window counterators; 11. Loop or hinge.

  • electric drill with a set of drills;
  • measuring devices (construction level, roulette, square);
  • construction knife;
  • machine for cutting at an angle.

The composition of components for the manufacture will depend on the design. If the framework design you will need to make a frame - a frame, and for its assembly is necessary:

  • bar, metal or plastic corner, the length will be determined by the size of the opening;
  • self-tapping screw;
  • corners for tightening the frame;
  • canopies, for mounting to the box of opening;
  • polycarbonate sheet in terms of opening, if there are several sheets of smaller size in the frame, it is possible to provide a partition.

If the design of the frameless is required only polycarbonate and pair of canopies.

Manufacturing work is carried out in the following sequence.

  1. We carry out the measurements of the doorway, in which your design will be installed.
  2. For obtained measurements from the selected material for the manufacture of the frame, a frame is collected. It should be remembered that in the manufacture of a frame, sizes need to be reduced by about 1 - 1.5 mm for dense closing. When making a frame, great attention should be paid to direct corners so that there is no distortion. If the frame is wooden, then the corners can be pulled by special metal corners. Before covering, a wooden frame can be painted or covered with varnish. Before painting, it is necessary to stall internal and external surfaces. When painting, you can use a simile or polishing. Frame painting will give a more stylish look to your product.
  3. Very convenient to make a frame in size for the previously installed, old door.
  4. The prepared frame is trimmed by polycarbonate.
  5. Prepared canopies that are fixed on the doors and box.
  6. The door is hung. It is easier to hang the design of polycarbonate with your own hands than traditional since it is easier.

If the frameless design is manufactured, the manufacturing technology is easier. The main work will be in properly cutting the door from polycarbonate on the appropriate size. As an assistant, you can use the old design, having imposed it on the sheet by finding the contour.

Most recently, such a word as polycarbonate has been associated with many with a cottage, or a private house. All because at the time of the Soviet Union, polycarbonate was used only for cropping in greenhouses. Products of this type and were only in the form of thermal structures for plants. They were only on dachas, but not many could afford them, expensive. Most of our population, for lack of opportunity to purchase polycarbonate, made greenhouses with their own hands from everything that came across. From wooden products, to metal.

In modern times, the polycarbonate greenhouse is widespread, but this is not the only purpose of this building material. Today you can see including trading pavilions from polycarbonate, and gazebos, as well as road transport.

  1. Material is extremely easy. Any polycarbonate products have low weight when compared with analogue of plastic, il metal.
  2. For strength, the material also wins. For this reason, even in showers there are polycarbonate elements. For example, walls and doors.
  3. High fire resistance parameter. For example, if the product from polycarbonate will cover the flame, it will quickly come to no, because there is nothing to burn in polycarbonate. There will be no depository results.
  4. The material is practical in application. For example, the doors from our hero are simply cleaned with standard cleaning detergents for dishes.
  5. Longevity. Putting the door from this building material, you can forget about their shift for decades, even if they are morally obsolete.
  6. Exposure before temperature shifts. Even though the most popular today is interior doors from polycarbonate, the door at the entrance will serve as no worse, and even more so, a very long period of time.

If you plan to make the doors made of polycarbonate with your own hands, you need to disassemble their identified data. From the above it follows that the doors are divided into the following categories:

Interior doors. They are installed directly indoors, in order to divide one room from another.

Hinged. Muffed in the frame available in the opening.

Sliding type. They should be attached to a special guide, such a door will open along the wall, as if entering it. These doors are much stronger. For this reason, it makes sense to install such doors to the nursery, because they have a great degree of security.

Species divided by design features

Frame type doors. They have the appearance of a special frame in which polycarbonate is fixed. The material from which the frame is made can be absolutely any. From wood, to plastic and metals. Doors of this type can be easily found in commercial premises, and production places. They are extremely cheap.

Frameless type of doors. This, without a branch of conscience, one can say an elite view of the doors. Already externally, they differ greatly from all of the above. If you want to make such a door with your own hands using polycarbonate, you will need to get acquainted with the examples of doors data from directories. The form of this type of doors adheres to certain conditions, it is elegant and kept in design. The framework for the installation of such doors is not necessary, because they are made from the whole fragments of polycarbonate.

Species divided by design features

Tools

Production of polycarbonate doors does not require any significant experience in this area, but it is necessary to adhere to accuracy, paying increased attention to various details. Since polycarbonate products are processed quite simple, then the tools needed for this type of work have a small list.

Required door manufacturing instruments

  1. hand saw;
  2. hacksaw;
  3. circular type saw;
  4. lobzik;
  5. manual drill, and electric type is suitable;
  6. drills required sizes;
  7. machines that give the opportunity to cut at an angle;
  8. awl;
  9. a hammer;
  10. measuring tools (ruler, tilter, level, triangle, each, preferably, from 20cm or more);
  11. fasteners and fasteners.

Additional Building Materials for Frame Type Door

  1. self-tapping screw;
  2. bars;
  3. metal or plastic corner;
  4. polycarbonate sheet;
  5. canopy.

Additional building material required for the manufacture of sliding doors

  1. Accessories to install the sliding door,
  2. guide mechanism (usually, it is a metal tube) with anchors;
  3. fasteners;
  4. polycarbonate sheets;
  5. doorhandle.

Installation of the polycarbonate door of the attached type

If you intend to put a frameless door, you will need:

Gently and accurately find out the size of the opening, to record the received parameters. Direct corners will require the greatest attention, because they are if the measure was not correct, will give you problems with distortion.

It is necessary to pull the angles with the help of the corners, in order not to face breakfast. Installed the door with a canopy.

  1. Make a measurement of the opening and directly the door that was in this opening.
  2. Measurement measurement
  3. The grinding of the frame surface is required both internal and external.
  4. It is necessary to handle the framework with varnish, il paint. We advise you to paint the mourn, Ile polishing, so the frame will look prettier.
  5. Now we need to strip directly by polycarbonate. Sheets connect according to the principle below.
  6. Mounting polycarbonate through connecting profile
  7. It is necessary to make fasteners of canopies and graduate from work.

Installation of the sliding door from polycarbonate

The design of this type has the difference due to the guide, with its help you will have the opportunity to use the door not as an ordinary one, but in parallel the wall, which many causes an association with the fantastic films of the last century. This option will save the space used in the house. If you prefer a model with a single sash, which perfectly blocks the path to drafts, then, as a bonus, at the same time, and insulate the room.

Installation of sliding door mechanisms

  1. It is necessary to secure the guide above the doorway, it is standard that is 5-10 cm.
  2. Secure the rings in polycarbonate sheets.
  3. Then, it is necessary to attach the entire design to the guide.
  4. Outcome: Assembling polycarbonate doors, whatever type of type you prefer, is carried out very uncomply. It all depends on the size of your own desire.

Installation of sliding door mechanisms

Sliding doors whose flaps are made of glass, differ in special aesthetics. In addition to the fact that the sliding partitions allow you to rationally use the space, the transparent material gives the interior of sophistication and ease, contributes to the good lighting of the room. But the glass canvas has significant disadvantages: high cost and fragility of material, which requires a careful attitude to the design. Making glass panels for only specialized firms having the necessary equipment for glass processing.

A good alternative to natural glass is various polymeric materials. One of the most popular transparent polymers, which is used for the manufacture and installation of transparent canvases for sliding structures is polycarbonate. This material is shockproof, lighter glass, has the same transparency, and most importantly, it is possible to make sliding doors from polycarbonate with your own hands.

Features and types of material

Polycarbonate is performed in a monolithic and cellular version. These materials have different aesthetic and specifications. Each type of polycarbonate is installed in the sliding design of a certain type, which ultimately defines the appearance of the finished sliding door and partitions from polycarbonate.

Important! The variety of polycarbonate sheets allows you to use it for the manufacture and installation of the sliding door by analogy with natural glass, or use it as a decorative panel material. It can be used as an independent material for the manufacture of door sash, and in combination with other decorative materials (laminated chipboard, MDF).

Monolithic polycarbonate

This is a solid sheet of polymer with a smooth surface. It is a full-fledged analog of natural glass.

They produce by analogy with sheets of silicate glass with a thickness of a 2-12 mm material. Thus, it is possible to make an either a frameless type panel with a thickness of 10 mm for mounting into a mounted design for glass doors, or use them as insertion into a frame from a profile for sliding cabinet systems.

Thick sheets of this material are characterized by high strength and are also called anti-vandal. They are not just resistant to shocks, they cannot be broken even intentionally.

Cellular polycarbonate

This material is a hollow sheet, which consists of two or more thin layers connected by thin jumpers. Made by extrusion.

Due to the cellular structure, the door of this material weighs more than ten times less than the door of the glass.

Due to the multi-layer of the material, it cannot be manufactured so thin as the monolithic polycarbonate. The thickness of the produced sheets begins with 4 mm. From a cellular material, 32 mm thick panels are manufactured.

Important! Planning the dimensions of the sliding door or partition from the polycarbonate, it must be remembered that the width of the strip of the cellular material is 2.1 m, and in length it is cut in stores in stores in 1 m. The length profile length for polycarbonate is associated with these sizes.

Profiles for polycarbonate

For mounting and closing the edges of polycarbonate sheets produce several types of profiles. They are made of aluminum and polycarbonate. In the manufacture of the sliding door for designing the frame and creating a rigid frame, only end profiles may be needed. It depends on the design of the door selected by the type of sheet material and the technical capabilities of the wizard in the quality of the cutting of the material at home. Such a profile may be needed to give stiffness of the panel and executing the edging of the door that will hide chips.

The end profile closes open from the ends of the cell of the cellular sheet from the moisture and dust from entering them. If you do not close the ends with the profile, then over time the material will lose transparency. In particular, conscientiously needs to be taken to the closure of polycarbonate ends when installing the door to the bathroom.

The end profile performing the function of the frame, give the door aesthetic and finished appearance.

Under any purchased sheet there are both end profiles of the corresponding thickness: from 2 to 16 mm. In length, the profile is the same as the width of polycarbonate - 2.1m.

How to work with polycarbonate

After purchasing a cellular polycarbonate, it can be noted that his ends are tested with scotch. This is the temporary protection you want to delete. After cutting polycarbonate, ends with open cells will need to be sicking the sealing ribbon. The end profile dresses over the tape. To keep aluminum or polycarbonate profile, it is planted on small droplets of transparent silicone.

In addition to the ends, polycarbonate with one (facial) side is saved by film. It is removed only after the installation of the sliding door from the cellular polycarbonate is completed. The only thing to do is partially sewing it along the edges, where the frame profile will be shattered, and roller carriages will be mounted. In addition, it will not give confusing the side of the web if the sliding door is mounted from two or more sash.

Important! Before the cellular polycarbonate is sealed and installed in the frame of the sliding door, it must be kept in a dry air room. This will prevent the formation and cluster of condensate inside the sheet cells.

For the cutting of the material, a jigsaw with a fine-skinned sawmill, a grinder, a stationery knife are used.

Frame panels

The construction of polycarbonate with the frame will be more noticeable, it will be perceived as a full-fledged door. The frame will perform the frame function, which will give the stiffness of the panel.

The verse is most appropriate for the manufacture of a sliding door from polycarbonate. The framework of the profile for the sliding door of the door of the type of polycarbonate is assembled on the tapping screw, it is not necessary to install additional accessories on the canvas. A polycarbonate 4 and 10 mm thick can be installed in the frame. Thin parts are installed in the profile using a special seal. In this embodiment, you can make a canvas combined, with inserts from a monolithic, cellular, transparent or colored polycarbonate.

Sliding mechanisms with frame blades are supported and mounted. The rooms are installed in the rooms of the mounted type, in which there is no lower guide, and the door is retained using the P-shaped flags installed on the floor side of the opening.

In the support mechanisms, the canvas moves along the lower guides, and the upper roller serves to balancing the sash. Support structures are installed in the opening of low passability.

Rollers in structures with frame are attached to the upper and lower horizontal jumper of the framework frame. Each manufacturer releases its range of profiles, which differ in the form, type of coating, but they are the same all type sizes.

Sliding mechanisms for cramless panels

Sliding systems designed for glass panels differ from the usual carriages by the mounting mechanism to the canvas. They are designed for mounting sheets with a thickness of 8 to 12 mm. Have two types of fixtures: clamping and point-clamping. The principle of their work is: two long strips clasp the panel from the end on both sides and clamp. In the point-clamping systems, the screw, which tightens the clamp sponge, passes through the cloth, and it is necessary to drill a hole for it. In the clamping systems, the clamp sponge systems are superimposed on the end of the panel, and the clamping screw is above the web.

Important! In these cases, an aluminum end profile is installed on the cloth.

All structures with fastening roller carriages to glass (polycarbonate) are only with the top type of slip. Three main types are distinguished:

  • Open;
  • Closed;
  • Hinged.

The open type system is a guide in the form of a pipe, which rides a roller in the form of a pulley.

Closed structures usually have roller carriages clamping type, and after installation, the upper guide is closed with a decorative plank.

In the mounted system, the roller carriage is fastened to the side of the panel, and the guide is not over the sash, but behind it.

Video, how to cut polycarbonate:

In sliding systems, polycarbonate is a cheap and practical alternative glass. But due to the flexibility of this material and the presence of chips after cutting, the canvas must have a framework frame from the profile, which will hide all defects and make the sash tight.
