How to properly reduce polycarbonate on a canopy - understandable instruction. Polycarbonate roof

The main element in the design of the house is the roof, and not only the life of the construction, but also its aesthetic appearance depends on the choice of roofing material. Therefore, today, most housing owners are chosen to cover the roof polycarbonate, which opens up tremendous opportunities for design design, and is also characterized by high quality.

With the help of polycarbonate you can create single and duplex roofs, make original arched structures. Such roofs fit perfectly into any architectural project, look stylish and simply installed. The sheets of the product are also suitable for finishing the veranda, arbors and garages, they skip light well and keep warm.

Features

Polycarbonate is a modern material that is produced from polymers using special technologies, therefore it is obtained by superproof, withstands the temperature differences and mechanical effects. In addition, polycarbonate has a unique structure, there are air chambers that make it an excellent sound and thermal insulator. To install the roof of the polycarbonate sheet, the material is chosen with a thickness of 4 to 16 mm, its weight ranges from 900 to 2700 grams per 1m2 and does not require additional enhancement of the structure.

Polycarbonate roof is considered the most reliableSince the coating retains its operational properties in temperature mode from -40c to + 120c, it is resistant to the effects of various reagents and chemical compounds, is not afraid of shocks and serves until 20 or more.

As a rule, the material is used to arrange roofing structures over attic, cold attics, balconies and terraces.

Due to the fact that polycarbonate sheets are produced in various shapes, you can easily install the roofs with a slope, flat surface, in the form of domes, prisms and pyramids. In order for the roof to acquire the desired form, you must first make a frame, then fix the material. For frames apply steel and aluminum profiles.

The main feature of polycarbonate is its high light engineeringTherefore, such coatings are transparent and do not have visible joints when connected. The roofs of polycarbonate look original and create a soaring effect above the building. The material can be combined with other types of finishes, so buildings, covered with polycarbonate, fit well into the landscape design.

Pros and cons

Polycarbonate is widely used in roofing, this is explained by its high quality and the presence of many positive properties.

Unlike other building materials, it possesses certain advantages.

  • Reliable protection of rooms from the straight rays of the sun. Light passing through the roof is evenly dissipated. Polycarbonate canvas does not miss ultraviolet.
  • Small weight. Profiled fox is easy, which allows mounting the roof without an additional fastening system. The roof is inexpensive, which in turn opens up opportunities for designer creativity in creating structures of various modifications.

  • Good thermal conductivity. When installing the roof, there is no need to use insulation and lay insulation.
  • High hydraulic, steam and sound insulation.
  • Ensuring ventilation. In case of fire, the material does not light up and provides fast chimping.

  • Resistance to moisture. The surface of the coating is smooth and does not delay the precipitation.
  • The durability of the product contributes to saving funds.
  • Flexible structure. Polycarbonate is well amenable to formation, it can be bent in any direction.
  • Easy installation, transportation and processing. Sheets quickly glue, cut and worn.

As for the shortcomings, they have a little polycarbonate.

  • During a strong deflection, the material under the influence of internal stress loses its integrity and color, can be poisoned.
  • Polycarbonate needs a gentle handling, as in its transparency and hardness it is inferior to the glass. Store sheets need in well-ventilated rooms, where there is no access to the penetration of direct rays of the sun. It is best to place the material in a horizontal position and to cover with a special protective film from above.

Varieties

Recently, many masters for roof overlap are chosen by polycarbonate, and this is not in vain, as it is a modern view of roofing, which serves reliably and allows you to make original designs.

Manufacturers produce two species polycarbonate.

Monolithic

It is a smooth coating, its transparent structure is not inferior to the glass. From the monolithic polycarbonate, roofs are installed both simple and curvilinear form. Well, it turns out a single design. The main minus material is a high price, but in contrast to other species it is easily attached, does not require for the installation of a large number of tools and is conveniently stored.

Cellular

It is made of special polymers, therefore it is characterized by a slight weight, it is much easier than silicate and acrylic glass. Externally has the type of profile panels interconnected by rigid ribs. The material is used to arrange indoor arbors, loggias. The original of it creates a dome and arched construction.

Types of polycarbonate are distinguished not only by their properties, but also in color, texture.

Wavy and corrugated material enjoy great popularity.His wave flat surface allows you to draw up original inserts in structures, thanks to which the roof acquires an unusual design and style.

How to choose

Before starting the installation process of polycarbonate, it is necessary to prepare a project of the roof and correctly pick up the roofing material. Depending on the roof model, the frame and the fastening system is determined. If you plan to install a fully monolithic roof that does not have joints, it is recommended to purchase not only the profile sheet, but also a carbonate rack. Thus, the coating will acquire a cast look.

A huge role in choosing a material is also played by its thickness from which the exposure of loads on the structure will depend.

Most often, sheets of a certain thickness are used for the shelter of the roofs.

  • 4 mm. Suitable for finishing small areas having a rounding. Usually such polycarbonate is acquired for the design of visors or individual parts of the roof.

  • Watery 6-8 mm thick Used to cover buildings that are subjected to snow and wind loads. In addition to residential buildings, sheets can be covered by pools and cars.
  • Floors in 10 mm Usually used for arrangement of buildings, which are placed in areas with extreme climatic conditions and require protection against negative environmental impact.

In addition, choosing polycarbonate, you must also take into account the architectural features of the building.

The material should be beautifully emphasized the external finish of the structure and harmoniously combined with a common design. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the main background of the design and, already focusing on this indicator, decide on the color of the coating. Recently, bronze, green, dairy, blue and brown panels are widely used. As for yellow, orange and red, it is recommended to use it only if there are materials from the appropriate shade under the canopy.

To mount the roof, you can choose both transparent and silver or black sheets. Such panels will maximize the internal space of the rooms. At the same time, for original projects, it is best to give preference to a monolithic polycarbonate that opens up huge opportunities for designer design.

How to install

Installation of the roof of polycarbonate can be easily done independently. To do this, it is necessary to pre-make a roof project, since the finished drawings will be much easier to calculate the consumption of material. Schemes should specify the size of the house and the form of the future design.

If the installation is performed by the master for the first time, the instruction will help him in this.

  • At the first stage, you need to decide on the rafting roof system. Before beding polycarbonate, choose the desired roof slope, it should not be less than 50 degrees. Then they make carriers for construction from rafted with a cross section of 60 × 80 mm or 60 × 40 mm, while the distance between rafters and the edges of the roof is made in 1 meter. If the roof will have a semicircular shape, then on rafters, it is necessary to mount the end and connecting profiles, leaving 2 cm around the edges.

  • At the second stage, the side surfaces of the sheets are sticking with scotch, this will serve for them protection against reflections of sunlight. It is worth paying attention to the fact that the upper facets of the panels are caught by the usual tape, and for the lower applied perforated.
  • After the preparation of the base and the material begins immediate assembly. In the event that the work is performed correctly, there will be no joints between connections, so the need for mastic processing will disappear. The mount is made by self-drawing, for this, the sheets are placed by the outer surface and between them leave the gap of 5 mm. First, it is necessary to fix the cover to profiles, and then secure the plugs.

At the end of the installation, the integrity of the coating is additionally monitored.

So that the polycarbonate roof reliably served for many years, it is necessary to carry out appropriate care and maintain in constant purity.

Polycarbonate is easy in laying and good processing, so they can be covered with roofs independently, without resorting to help qualified masters. Before performing the installation with your own hands, it is worth choosing the material, to study the reviews about it and will determine with the most suitable way of fastening.

  • Polycarbonate sheets are best cut with special equipment, but if there is no such, it is possible to use the usual saw, jigsaw or hacksaw. In this case, the tool must be configured on the cutting of plastic material and have small well-sharpened teeth.

  • The protective film is removed from the panels only at the end of all installation work, otherwise it is possible to damage the surface of the material. Sheets during installation should not have burrs and uneven cuts. During the cuts of polycarbonate, dust and fine chips are formed, which should be blown with compressed air.
  • In the event that an electrical saw is used for cutting panels, it must be configured to a low-speed feed. For sheets with a thickness of less than 3 mm, it is desirable to use hacksaw or tape electroopers.

  • To get a certain size holes, polycarbonate are firmly fixed on an even base and provide it with an additional support that will help avoid vibration. Places for fasteners are drilled from the edges of the panels, leaving a small distance, since, when fixing the screws or bolts, the material can be compressed and expanding under thermal exposure.
  • For the installation of polycarbonate, welding is often used, thanks to which the panels are finally fixed. Design details can be welded in various ways, it all depends on their shapes and sizes. To securely fix the sheets, it is recommended to choose a hot lining, it is carried out at a temperature of 300c. Welding with hot air is considered a good option, the polycarbonate must be well dry before it is performed.

  • The material can be grinding, so it can be treated with both dry and humid way. To do this, use chilled water and sandpaper. Finishing grinding is best to make a skin with a graininess of no more than 600.
  • If the sheets are bonding, they first be cleaned of contamination. In addition, they must be smooth and smooth. For gluing, special varnishes and solvents are used. Work should be carried out in the open air.
  • All parts of polycarbonate should be cleaned with the help of isopropyl or methyl alcohol, you can also wipe them with hexane and soap solution.

Modern architecture is peculiar to new trends that imply exclusive ideas, unconventional original solutions and styles, the use of new technologies and the use of new materials that differ in unique properties and characteristics. All this is necessary, in order to give the urban life to humanity to give the opportunity to regain at least some of the free communication with nature. That is why today you can see the transparent roofs of polycarbonate, how about those that are depicted in the photo, not only over the greenhouses and winter gardens, but also if not over all, then above the part of the premises in cottages and private houses.

Features and requirements for designs

The use of polycarbonate provides unlimited possibilities and expanses to create masterpieces of architecture. Due to this material, you can build roofs of the most of the different shapes - two or single, dome, hip, arched, pyramidal polygonal and others. Moreover, it is possible to equip them both above the heated premises and above the cold. Since the main task of the polycarbonate roof is to enable inward the premises of natural light, the relevant requirements are also imposed to it:

  • the illumination indicator must respond to accepted standards;
  • the polycarbonate roof of cellular or monolithic sheets should have sound insulation corresponding to statistical data, as well as heat, hydro and vaporizolation;
  • protect workers from penetration too bright sunlight;
  • ensure constant ventilation of the premises, especially in case of smoke during fires;
  • be able to easily and quickly remove snow.

Types of structures

According to constructive features, polycarbonate structures are the following types:

  • windows on attic and lanterns;
  • buildings having several elements transmitting light;
  • constructions built on the basis of light profile systems. Similar roofs can be built any form - but the best flat and sliding look.

To illuminate the attic along with traditional vertical windows, you can apply the attic of the attic type that are mounted directly on the roofing plane. The lanterns are called glazed protrusions of the building or lumen in the roof. Their glazing can be performed as ordinary glass and polycarbonate.

On a note: For structures consisting of profile systems, any kind of polycarbonate roof is suitable.

Manufacturers usually offer for the most sought-after types of roofs already prepared technical solutions. If it is necessary to create another design, much more complicated - designers of manufacturers can always develop new options.

For system profiles, with the erection of duplex roofs, in addition to the polycarbonate itself, you can use:

  • for spans of small and medium sizes - aluminum is suitable;
  • for large size spans more acceptable steel.

The advantages of polycarbonate

The main advantages of polycarbonate products are considered:

  1. A small proportion, thanks to which it is possible to design and build elegant, original lightweight buildings of large sizes, increase the width of the facilities. In addition, due to the ease of material, it is possible to embody any designer ideas and not spend a lot of money.
  2. Large bearing capacity.
  3. Transparency and flexibility, which contributes to the ease of making the roof design of any complexity.
  4. Excellent chemical resistance.
  5. Small flammable.
  6. High thermal insulation qualities.
  7. Impact resistance.
  8. Saving mechanical and physical properties at temperatures from -45 to +115 degrees.
  9. The durability of the material, with proper care, it will serve, keeping its qualities from 10-12 years and more.
  10. Large sizes of sheets, which is very convenient when working on the installation of large on the area of \u200b\u200bstructures.

In addition to the listed advantages, polycarbonate is easily flexible, cutting, drilling, perfectly glued. If the roof surface is made with a sufficient bias, the snow will not be able to delay not only on arched, but even on a flat surface.

Choosing polycarbonate

When building a roof, a question of paramount importance is the choice of the desired type of material. There are many types of polycarbonate sheets that differ in color, thickness. The thickness of the sheets ranges from 3 mm to 3.2 cm. Each species is designed for different purposes and to properly make a choice, you need to know the features of each of them.

So, for the roofs to which special requirements are presented, 32-millimeter material is suitable. On the roofs of the polycarbonate of a large area, sixteen millionth sheets can be used. Since this species can withstand heavy loads, it can be used on the construction of stations, parking lots, gas stations and other similar structures. Tith-minute sheets are ideal for sports facilities, including pools. For the arrangement of canopies, visors, the glazing of the balconies can use sheets with a thickness of 8 mm, and a five millimeter for canopies. Since greenhouses do not carry a serious load, it is possible to take a thickness material with a thickness of only 3.5 mm.

Types of polycarbonate

There are several types of this material:

  1. Monolithic. This species looks like silicate glass - it is without emptiness, durable and not heavy. The thickness of the sheets ranges from 4 cm to 0, 75 mm, has a different structure of the surface, magnitude and colors. Manufacturers produce and multilayer monolithic sheets with a rough surface of the upper layer, the second layer - delays the UV rays, and the third one holds all this design.
  2. Cellular polycarbonate has a cellular structure accordingly. It looks very beautiful on the roofs of the dome-shaped form. This species can be color and transparent. It is also perfect for creating outdoor advertising, in the design of interiors, the manufacture of partitions, overlaps and other translucent structures.
  3. Sheets with a trapezoidal or wavy profile are called profiled and more others suitable for the arrangement of facades and roofing coatings. They are used for the manufacture of roofs over greenhouses, winter gardens, greenhouses, canopies over parking and above the gardens to create dome archives.

Cost

The cost of polycarbonate depends on its thickness and sizes, which may be: a - 6 m x 210 cm, b - 12 m x 210 cm. Prices are approximately because for each region they may differ slightly.

So, sheets with a thickness of 0.35 cm of size and cost 1250 rubles., B - 2500. Six-millionth sheets: and color - 2, 65 thousand rubles, transparent - 2, 4, size b - transparent 4, 8 thousand rubles, Color 5, 8 thousand.

Sheets for polycarbonate roofs, 10 mm thick: size and transparent - 3,300 rubles, color - 3,670. B - transparent 6, 7 thousand rubles, color - 7,300 rubles.

Sixteen million meter leaf size A will cost: transparent 5,800 rubles, and color - 6 200. Size B - color 12 500, and transparent 11 700 rubles.

The thick and most durable thirty-two millimeter polycarbonate will cost: a sheet and transparent - 9 200 rubles, and color - 10 200. For an option b, you will have to lay out for transparent 18,600 rubles, and for color - 20,400.

Cottage construction is so popular that more and more people leave apartments in noisy cities and move on fresh air. Here you can relax and restore forces, distract from the bustle and admire the beauty of nature. But the more fans of the countryside, the more diverse the construction is erected in their habitats, and this is fine, because often new construction in the field of construction is simply affected by their functionality and decorative properties.

It is precisely such characteristics that the roofs of polycarbonate for houses and receiving utility structures are possessed. They are installed above the porch or pool, build in the form of a canopy at the parking place of the car and above the barbecue area. So what is so attracting this enough new material for our country with modern developers?

Technical characteristics of material

Polycarbonate is characterized by excellent strength. This polymer is durable and has an attractive look, although it is the view of the plastic long-acquaintance. Its transparent structure allows you to pass the sun's rays, and also provides a panoramic overview, which only increases its decorative value. From such a material build terraces at home, veranda and bright spacious greenhouses.

The maintenance of the roof of the polycarbranade has a direct impact of the quality of the material and the correct installation. The polymer can be divided into several categories, each of which has its own service life:

  1. Premium - withstands at least 20 years of operation.
  2. Elite - serves at least 12 years.
  3. Optimal - in the middle of 10 years.
  4. Economy - up to 8 years.

Before choosing such a material for your home, we suggest familiarizing yourself with its advantages and disadvantages, which will make it possible to better understand the properties and features of the roof of a new generation.

Dignity

The advantages of cellular polymer coating include:

  • excellent light throughput. Through the transparent coating passes about 80% of sunlight;
  • good flexibility parameters, which allows you to make the structure of the curved form without risk to deform the structure and disrupt the integrity of the material;
  • worthy general characteristics, thanks to which it can be successfully combined with construction materials of different textures;
  • high heat resistance, allowing to operate polycarbonate in the temperature range from -40 to +120 s;
  • strength against mechanical exposure, withstands the layer of snow more than one meter;
  • excellent thermal insulation properties. Canopy retains heat in the cold season and keeps cool in hot summer days;
  • low weight, only 2.5 kg / 1m2;
  • resistance before fire;
  • full compliance with security requirements, in case of damage, it is not divided into small or the more sharp fragments;
  • has good sound insulation parameters;
  • easy to install, for its installation does not require special skills;
  • available cost, in comparison with the same glass;
  • makes it possible to build the design of any, even the most bizarre forms that will decorate the house;
  • wide color gamut, so there will be no problem with the choice of the desired problem.

disadvantages

The polycarbonate does not have so many flaws and they are rather conditional. For example, the material will not be able to hide you from the bright sun, but the same property can be viewed both as dignity, because you will not need to resort to the help of additional lighting devices during the daytime, thereby saving electricity costs.

And, of course, indeed minus polymer - fragility, which can manifest itself with incorrect installation, which can lead to the appearance of cracks on the surface being processed.

Types of polycarbonate

There are two types of polycarbonate in construction:

  1. Solid, produced in the form of sheets, the thickness of which can be from 2 mm to 1 cm. Most often it is installed where abundant precipitation is observed and impusty winds blow. With visual inspection, you are unlikely to distinguish it from the glass. This type of material is the most expensive.
  2. Structured, with sheet thickness up to 3 cm, and impressive weight, which sometimes exceeds the same indicator of the monolithic product. This type of polymer has increased strength due to the cellular structure. They can cover arched floors and round roofs of the house. Before you purchase such a building material, ask the seller about which option is better suitable for your conditions, otherwise you can encounter an unplanned substitute material due to the fact that it does not meet your requirements.

Polycarbonate roof mounting

On the example of the installation of the covering for the arbor, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the phased instruction that will help make a high-quality design with your own hands. Here we will use a cellular polycarbonate, the thickness of which is 8 mm. On the shape of the canopy can be somehow - tents, with several slopes, dome or any other, we will talk about direct roof configuration.

As in any building process, there is a start of work here in drawing up a project with drawings that should be prepared in advance.

Slinge system

Wooden elements for the rafter system before installation must be treated with antiseptics, which will not give natural material to rot, thereby its operational period will increase significantly. Also, if you wish, you can make wood tint with special varnish. Dry boards need to be vertically set with a pitch equal to the width of the polycarbonate sheet. Brucks are hampered by a doomle, which is mounted across the rafter elements.

Fixation of sheets

To fix the sheets of reinforced plastic on the crate, you need to apply the screws that are equipped with sealing beds as fasteners. You can avoid the deformation of the trim, you can pre-marking a seat for the screws, and then drill holes in their place with a diameter greater than the similar parameter of fasteners.

Between themselves, the sheets of material are connected using special profiles that can be both solid and detachable. Self-tapping screws are not recommended until it stops, otherwise by a climbing change of temperature, the linear extension will remain in the static position and the roof can burst from the voltage in the plastic structure.

Sealing

So that the roof of the arbor at the house served for many years, it is necessary to make the correct sealing of cellular sheets, for which there is a tape on the ends of polycarbonate elements or a profile is installed, thereby excluding the appearance of condensate. It is also recommended to embed an additional sealant layer at the joints of the plates, then you will receive a guaranteed impermeability.

To work easier to go, and the result of the installation was positive, use the advice of professionals:

  • do not mount a completely transparent roof, as you can not hide under it from the scorching sun;
  • do not remove the protective film from the material, because it protects it from damage;
  • do not forget to equip the ventilation system if the roof of the polycarbonate house is mounted above the residential premises;
  • avoid the construction of a fully flat roof, since snow and water will be constantly accomplished on its surface, driving the design in the fields of the junctions of the elements;
  • in the process of work and operation, do not step on polycarbonate sheets, because they are fragile and may not withstand your weight.

If you are strictly follow the instructions and listen to our advice, then you will have a great roof of polycarbonate with your own hands.

In construction, modern materials are increasingly found. So finds more and more applications. If it used to be used for construction, greenhouses and decorative elements, now the polycarbonate has gained popularity in quality.

It is used for roof arbors, and visors above the entrance.

Polycarbonate material that allows you to embody the most bold designs.

Pluses of polycarbonate are:

  • small weight material, which facilitates the installation process;
  • ability to skip light;
  • resistance to external influences;
  • many color shades of material, which opens up huge freedom of fantasy.

By minuses of polycarbonate You can attribute fear of UV radiation during damage.

Mounting feature Polycarbonate is that the installation is made using special forms of special washers. With mandatory pre-drilling holes with a large diameter, which will avoid polycarbonate when the temperature changes.

Types of polycarbonate

It has a thickness of 2 to 12 millimeters and the main advantage of the roof of the monolithic polycarbonate is high strength.

The monolithic polycarbonate with a thickness of 12 millimeters withstands the punch with a hammer and is considered antivandal.

A monolithic polycarbonate for roofing roofs of any configurations is used.

Polycarbonate is produced at the place.

It is necessary to take into account that the directions of rigidity coincide with the direction of the roof rope. It is done so that the condensate is easy to be removed from the inside of the roof. It is also very important when installing polycarbonate to orient by a party having UV protection to outward, determine the side by labeling and protective film.

Before fixing the polycarbonate in it, the holes are drilled after the preliminary markup of a 2 millimeter larger than the diameter of the self-pressing, when screwing the screws, it is necessary to ensure that the washer tightly adjacent to the material, but the material should not be deformed.

Cross joints are fastened with H-profiles, and the longitudinal is sampled by a sealing ribbon to eliminate the appearance of condensate inside the polycarbonate sheet.

The horse is performed from a special skate profile.

For and domed, the roofs are used, as a rule, pipes of a square section, of which bending the necessary circles and arcs.

The attachment of polycarbonate to the profile is identical with the fastening to the tree.

Relatively recently on the construction market, an accessible transmission, flexible and durable polycarbonate for the roof appeared on the construction market. With it, you can equip the lungs, seemingly weightless, roofing structures of various forms.

The roofs of polycarbonate panels are elevated on arbors, greenhouses, winter gardens, canopies, transport stops and other infrastructure facilities. This roofing material combines a lot of advantages, among which is a low price, long service life, decorative potential. Homemade craftsmen will be useful information, how to make a roof of polycarbonate with your own hands.

Types of polycarbonate for roofing and characteristics

Polycarbonate is one of the types of thermoplastic plastic produced using coalic acid and bisphenol. The roof, equipped with its use, is distinguished by high impact resistance, a high degree of light permeability reaching 92%, and a worthy appearance.

Manufacturers offer two types of polycarbonate:

  1. Monolithic. This material externally resembles silicate glass, it is smooth and transparent. In this case, carrier quality and impact resistance of the monolithic polycarbonate for the roof is largely higher than that of glass coatings. Since its flexibility is less than that of a cellular type of this product, it is involved to create single-panel and flat roofs.
  2. Cellular. The structure of such polycarbonate is characterized by the presence of a set of cells that are filled with air. The degree of translucency of the cellular material is less compared to the monolithic view. This plastic be perfectly nuts, perfectly retains heat and therefore it is used in the construction and glazing of greenhouses and winter gardens. It is involved in the construction of the roofs of a figure structure, including arched, dome and many others.

The roof of polycarbonate throughout the entire period of operation contacts the rays of ultraviolet, which have the most adverse effect on the state of the material, which leads to its premature wear. So that the roof can last for a longer time, the wizards are assembled by special plastic, which does not affect ultraviolet radiation.

The advantages and disadvantages of the polycarbonate sheet for the roof

Due to the presence of good technical and performance in polycarbonate, this material began to oust a fragile glass from the building market and the plexiglass with time.

According to professionals, his advantages are as follows:

  1. The roof of thermoplastic plastic has a high bearing ability, it is shockproof and she has a small weight. For mounting the roof of polycarbonate, it does not require the construction of a massive frame and filling a solid foundation.
  2. Material, especially cellular species, is beaten without problems, and this circumstance allows you to equip complex curly roofing structures without the use of special equipment and tools.
  3. Many are interested than cutting polycarbonate at home. Plastic is easily processed, it can be cut with a special knife or circular saw and glue if necessary. It is only important to know what to glue the polycarbonate so that the connection is durable.
  4. Polycarbonate has sound and thermal insulation properties, does not pass water.
  5. The material has a long service life, it is wear-resistant and it does not require special care.

The main of the lack of polycarbonate plastic is the presence of thermal expansion. At high temperatures, this material increases in size and therefore, during the construction, fastening elements need to be twisted so that the gaps remain.

Features of the roofing device

The roof of polycarbonate for the house consists of two main elements:

  • reference frame made of metal profile or wooden bars;
  • roofing material - it is laid on the crate, mounted perpendicular to the legs of the rafter. At the same time, the lattice under the polycarbonate must be made in all the rules and requirements.

The roofs made of polycarbonate sheets are:

  1. Flat. These are constructions that have one plane with a slope of no more than 1-2 degrees. They turn out to be a big snow load, therefore the thickness of the monolithic polycarbonate for the roof of a flat form should be at least 8-10 millimeters.
  2. Scatter. From transparent plastic, it is possible to make a roofing design from one and more slopes that have a slope of up to 40 degrees. Lightweight and convenient processing facilitate the construction of a rafter system.
  3. Arched. Cellular polycarbonate is considered one of the best materials for creating architectural buildings. The roofs with any form of bending on a metal frame can be done without much difficulty due to the flexibility of this coating.
  4. Dome. For such structures, cellular polycarbonate use, since it is flexible. But the arrangement of the roof in the form of the dome will require the fulfillment of accurate calculations and careful fit.

Professionals are advised by building polycarbonate roofs to use metal frames from steel or aluminum, since in this case the operating deadlines of the roofing and base material coincide. When fixing the polycarbonate on a wooden structure, it is necessary to handle bars with an antiseptic composition.

How to make a roof of plastic with your own hands

You can build a roof from polycarbonate, for example, for a carport over a car, for a gazebo in a garden or a visor over the pool. So that the transparent roof coating is reliable and durable, the thickness of the polycarbonate for the roof must be properly selected. The easiest way is to take advantage of the finished project with all the necessary calculations to avoid errors in the process of cutting and installing the design.

Collect such roofs in the following sequence:

  1. At the initial stage, a frame of wooden or metal elements is collected. For this, the profile, bars or corners having a thickness of at least 4-5 centimeters are suitable. Since the width of the standard polykombanate sheet to the roof is 2100 millimeters, the rafters are mounted so that they can maintain the joint between adjacent plates. They are naked to rafters with a pitch of 40-50 centimeters.
  2. The material with a circular saw with small teeth is cut into sheets of the desired size and fixed on the frame. When the scope roof is equipped, the ribs of the stiffness of the plastic are placed along the skate.
  3. The first sheet is laid with a protrusion beyond the roof of 3-5 millimeters. The end end sticks with a ribbon or put on it a special profile.
  4. Along the rafters in a step of 30-40 centimeters, they are made in the polycarbonate of the holes, using the drill, the diameter of which exceeds this parameter in the screws by 3-4 millimeters.
  5. The roofing material is fixed on the frame of galvanized self-stakes with thermoshabami, which will protect plastic from cracking. In order to compensate for thermal expansion, the elements for fixing are twisted with a clearance of a value of 2-3 millimeters.
  6. To connect sheets, special connecting plates are used - they are attached to the rafters with self-draws.
