Ways of distributing WI-FI from the Megafon modem. Configuring a router via a mobile modem

This year, tariff plans with unlimited mobile internet... MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2 and Yota have similar offers. Tariff plans really provide for the absence of restrictions on speed and traffic (at least, as operators say). However, it was not without restrictions at all. The biggest disadvantage of these plans is that they are only for smartphones. Also, it is not possible to use the phone as a WI-FI access point and there is a restriction on the use of file-sharing networks. Many subscribers are interested in whether it is possible to bypass these restrictions? With some effort, you can bypass restrictions on the distribution of the Internet over Wi-Fi, use a SIM card in the modem and download files from torrents.

As part of this review, we will consider all the ways to bypass restrictions on the distribution of the Internet over Wi-Fi (TETHERING). It is difficult to single out one single method, so you will have to independently determine the most suitable option for you. The guide is relevant for all tariffs with unlimited mobile Internet, which are characterized by a restriction on the distribution of Internet via WI-FI (, MegaBeslim MegaFon, Beeline postpaid tariffs, Yota tariff plan for a smartphone).

All ways to bypass restrictions on the distribution of the Internet

On the Internet, you can find many instructions for bypassing the restrictions on the distribution of the Internet. Unfortunately, not all of them are relevant and most of them do not allow achieving the desired result. We have checked all the options and identified the most effective ones. With their help, you can bypass the restrictions on the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi, but we cannot guarantee a 100% result.

We will consider the following methods for bypassing restrictions on the distribution of the Internet over Wi-Fi:

  • Change of IMEI on the dispensing device;
  • Changing / fixing the TTL value (TTL Editor and TTL Master programs);
  • Editing the host file on the computer.

Let's consider each technique separately (you can apply all of them). If you have any difficulties, ask questions in the comments. We also recommend visiting the relevant sections of the w3bsit3-dns.com forum, where there are many recommendations for bypassing the restrictions on the distribution of the Internet.

Change IMEI on the dispenser

If you want to use a SIM card in a modem or distribute the Internet using a Wi-Fi router, you need to change the IMEI on the distributing device. You need to use IMEI from a smartphone running on windows operating system. You can use any other IMEI, but then the risk increases that after a while all your efforts will be in vain. Traffic to windows resources from a computer does not arouse suspicion, since mobile devices running on the Windows operating system go to approximately the same resources.

Also note that the IMEI that you are going to register on your device should not be registered on the same network. That is, you cannot connect to the network simultaneously from two devices with the same IMEI. If you can't find the IMEI from the windows background, you can generate it. You can download IMEI Generator WinPhone.

There are two ways to change IMEI:

  • Through engineering mode;
  • Through the console (Terminal Emulator).

Which method is more convenient for you to decide. We will bring detailed instructions for both options.

Change IMEI through engineering mode:

  • We dial in the phone: * # * # 3646633 # * # *, after which the engineering mode (engenieer mode) opens;
  • Go to the Connectivity tab.
    Choose: CDS Information> Radio Information> Phone 1;
  • Above the AT + line, add: EGMR = 1.7, "your_IMEI";
  • To change IMEI to the second SIM card (if any), repeat the previous step, but write already: EGMR = 1.10, "your_IMEI";
  • Press the SEND AT button and reboot.
  • Attention
  • If all else fails, try putting a space after AT +.

There is another way to change IMEI, which involves using a terminal emulator. The emulator works by analogy with the Windows command line. The utility can be downloaded for free from Google Play. Search for the Terminal Emulator for Android application and install it on your smartphone. A number of commands that must be executed in the emulator to change the IMEI may differ depending on the phone model. In most cases, you need to enter the following code:

su
echo -e "AT + EGMR = 1.7," YOUR_IMEI ""> / dev / smd0.

If you have a two-SIM device, then to change the IMEI to the second SIM, you need to add:

echo "AT + EGMR = 1.10," YOUR_IMEI ""> / dev / pttycmd1.

If you need to change the IMEI of your router or modem, then

Change / fix TTL value

The TTL number stands for the lifetime of traffic packets. By default, for most operating systems on smartphones, it is 64. When connecting to the operator's network, the device sends it the default value. If a modem or router is used to connect to the Internet, the TTL value is decreased by one unit, as a result of which the operator recognizes that the subscriber is using a SIM in a device other than a smartphone. The same goes for using the phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot (the smartphone acts as a router and the TTL is reduced).

Bypassing restrictions on the distribution of the Internet over Wi-Fi by changing the TTL is quite real. You need to change the value in such a way that packets from other devices (possibly non-rooted) in case of loss of one from TTL have the same value as TTL on the "default" donor. Devices running on iOS and Android operating systems have a TTL equal to 64 by default. To distribute the Internet, the donor must be assigned TTL = 63.

Changing / fixing the TTL value is possible manually and using special programs. First, consider a method that involves changing the TTL using programs.

Let's start with the TTL Master program (previously the program was called Yota Tether TTL). For the program to function, root user rights are required. read in a separate review. With the help of the program, you can change the TTL value in one click. You can download the utility on Google Play. The free version is enough to change TTL. Instructions for using the program are not required, since everything is already very clear. After starting the application, your current TTL will be indicated, as well as the TTL, which must be specified in the corresponding field. Enter the required TTL and click on the “Apply” button. Now try to distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi from your smartphone. The TTL Editor works in a similar way.

You can change TTL on Android without using the above programs (root rights are required).

Follow these steps to change TTL:

  • Turn on the Airplane mode on the phone;
  • Install and run the ES Explorer application (another one with similar functionality is possible). Go to the following path: proc / sys / net / ipv4, find there a file named ip_default_ttl, open it and change the value from 64 to 63. Do not forget to save your changes before exiting the application;
  • Disable Airplane mode to allow the smartphone to connect to the network;
  • Turn on Wi-Fi sharing and you can connect your phone or tablet to the network.

If you need to connect the computer to the phone, then in addition to the listed actions, you need to perform the following manipulation:

  • On the computer, click - start -> Run -> write regedit in the line;
  • Opens the registry go -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Tcpip \ Parameters;
  • In the right window, right-click -> New -> New DWORD Parameter (32 bits) -> Name it "DefaultTTL";
  • Right-click on the new parameter -> Change -> On the calculus system, put the point "Decimal", write the value in the field (64);
  • We save everything and restart the computer.

Now you can distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi from your smartphone. The method works, as evidenced by numerous reviews.

The above instructions are relevant for the Android operating system. If you need to change TTL to another OS, on a modem or router, then follow this link and use the appropriate manual.

Editing the host file on the computer

The hosts file is designed to match domain names (sites), which are written using characters and the corresponding IP addresses. It is necessary to edit this file in order to block the resources through which the operator detects the distribution of the Internet. Sorry to collect universal file hosts is physically impossible, so install a traffic analyzer and track on which resources the operator detects the distribution. Many useful information by editing the hosts file can be found by clicking on the link above (w3bsit3-dns.com).

The hosts file is located in the folder with operating system Windows is usually the C drive on the user's computer. For quick access to the file, press the keyboard shortcut "Windows" + "R". This will open the Run window. In the "Open" field, enter the command:% systemroot% \ system32 \ drivers \ etc and click the "OK" button. Then the folder "etc" will be opened, in which the file "hosts" is located.

Conclusion

It is quite feasible to bypass the restrictions on the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi, but no one can guarantee that the result obtained will last for a long time. We have checked repeatedly different ways bypassing restrictions and most of them, after a while, stopped working. You can try the techniques described in this article or find other ways in the forums, but operators will always make sure that the restrictions they set are problematic to work around.

If you know of working schemes that were not mentioned in the review, share them in the comments.

Also, on your laptop (or), it should be. And the wireless network should work.

Copy (or enter) this command:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow

And we paste it into the command line.

Push Enter to execute the command. The following result will appear:

Everything, the window can be closed. With this command, we allowed the use of the network. If this is not done, then later, in the program VirtualRouter Plus, most likely the error ““ will just appear and nothing will work.

Allow Internet Connection Sharing

Your modem connection must be disconnected.

We go into the management of network connections: Control Panel \ Network and Internet \ Network Connections.

Right-click on the Internet connection via a USB modem. We choose Properties.

In the new window, go to the tab Access... Check the box next to “ Allow other network users ...“. Then, select a connection from the list. I have this “ Wireless network connection 3“You will have about the same, only the number may be different. Push Ok.

Now, we connect to the Internet via our USB modem. I just started the connection (by double clicking on it) and chose Challenge.

Make sure your computer is connected to the internet.

Now, you can launch the virtual Wi-Fi hotspot.

Launching HotSpot with VirtualRouter Plus

First, you need to download VirtualRouter Plus. You can do this from our website, or on the official website http://opensource.runxiadq.com/index.php/projects/virtual-router-plus.

Extract the files from the archive, and run the file VirtualRouterPlus.exe.

Specify the network name, password that will be used when connecting to your access point and select the connection from which you want to distribute the Internet. There should be a USB modem connection. If it is not there, then most likely, you will not be able to configure it.

To start the access point, click on the Start Virtual Router Plus button.

A message appears that the network is started.

That's it, our laptop distributes Wi-Fi.

We connect the smartphone to a virtual Wi-Fi hotspot

Turn on Wi-Fi on your phone, and open the list of available networks. There, you will see the network we created, select it. A password prompt will appear. Enter the password you provided in VirtualRouterPlus and click To plug.

The phone should connect to the network running on the laptop. Or see more details on connection Android devices to the wireless network.

We are trying to open the site. It all worked for me!

How to restart the network after restarting the computer?

After reboot (off / on) computer, you just need to connect to the Internet through your modem, and start the access point in the Virtual Router Plus program. And, you will be able to connect your devices to Wi-Fi again.

If a problem arises, when everything seems to be working fine, the devices will connect, but the Internet will not work on them, then most likely your antivirus or firewall will block access to the Internet. Try turning them off completely.

And check again if Internet sharing is allowed in the properties of your USB modem connection.

Afterword

I hope I managed to clarify at least a little the situation with setting up HotSpot via a wireless 3G / 4G modem. If you do not want to wrap yourself up with this, then I advise you to buy a Wi-Fi router that can take the Internet from USB modems and distribute it over Wi-Fi. You can find tips on choosing such a router in the article.

Good luck!

How to distribute the Internet from a laptop via Wi-Fi if the Internet is connected via a wireless 3G / 4G modem? Configuring Wi-Fi HotSpot via USB modem updated: February 7, 2018 by the author: admin

After writing an article about setting up a laptop to distribute Wi-Fi using the VirtualRouter Plus program, many questions arose about how to configure this scheme if the Internet to the computer is not connected via a network cable (for which I wrote an article), but with the help USB 3G / 4G modem (or even GPRS modem). Various problems arose, questions arose whether it was possible to customize such a scheme.

I decided to check everything and write another article. I will try to explain in what cases it will be possible to configure the distribution of Wi-Fi through a computer, from a USB modem. And I will write step by step instructions, how to do it.

USB modems are different, providers are the same. This means that the method of creating a connection, and setting up the connection itself, is different. I cannot give exact instructions for all providers and modems. I will show using the example of a Novatel U720 USB modem and an Intertelecom provider. This modem is connected to my laptop, and from the laptop I have already set up the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi. I will say, perhaps running on before, that everything worked out for me.

I think that if you have a connection from your modem on your computer, in the “Network Connections” section of the control panel, then everything will work out.

Configuring an access point (Wi-Fi) on a laptop with a USB 3G / 4G modem

Your modem must be connected to your laptop and your internet connection must be configured. The internet on the laptop should work. I will not dwell on this. I will only give a link to an article on setting up the Internet from Internettelecom.

Also, on your laptop (or computer with a Wi-Fi USB adapter), the Wi-Fi driver must be installed. And the wireless network should work.

Copy (or enter) this command:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow

And we paste it into the command line.

Push Enter to execute the command. The following result will appear:

Everything, the window can be closed. With this command, we allowed the use of the network. If this is not done, then later, in the VirtualRouter Plus program, most likely an error “Supported hardware may not have been found” will appear, and nothing will work.

You can find tips on choosing such a router in this article.

Hello! In continuation of previous articles, this time I decided to tell you how to share the Internet through a router with Wi-Fi. So, not a lot of prehistory ...

Recently, my wife and I did not have much to change the place of their usual dislakage and move for a while to another apartment. And since there was no Internet access, I had to save myself with a USB modem from Beeline. The wife was indignant, since in this case only I had access. I decided to think about how to distribute access from a 3G-flash drive to several computers, and preferably via Wi-Fi.

I took out my DIR-300 router from the frames, pre-flashed with the unofficial DD-WRT firmware, and started setting up public Internet access. The problems started almost immediately. Beeline flash drive, did not want to work, through my manually created Dial-Up connection. So, further I will explain everything point by point:

  1. We connect the USB modem to the computer. If we have a modem from Beeline, then we launch the Beeline Internet at Home program. If "MTS", then "MTS Connect", etc. And we check if the Internet works from the program itself.
  2. Open the "Phone and Modem" tab in the control panel or open the device manager, find our modem and open its properties. In the properties of the modem, select the "Diagnostics" tab and then "Poll the modem" (with the Internet disconnected), if everything is OK and the modem responds, go to the next item.
  3. Open the "Additional communication parameters" tab, drive in the modem initialization string. For Beeline it will be “AT + CGDCONT = 1,” IP ”,” home.beeline.ru ””. Different operators will have different string “home.beeline.ru”. You can see it in the profiles of the modem itself.
  4. Next, go to "Network Connections" and create a new connection. Open "Create a new connection", then "Connect to the Internet", then "Set up a connection manually", then "Via a regular modem", then enter the name of the connection, for example, like mine is "GPRS_Internet". Next, enter the phone number to connect. Most likely it will be the number "* 99 #", but more accurately it can be seen again in the program profiles of your USB modem. Next, enter the username and password, for "Beeline" - it will be:

    Username: beeline
    Password: beeline

    For the rest of the operators and modems, again we climb into the profile of the program.

  5. So, we have created a connection, we are trying to connect. Attention! For Beeline, and possibly also for some other operators, during connection we do not exit their program supplied with a USB flash drive. For some reason, this program closes the port after disconnecting from the Internet. If the connection through the connections we created went well, then move on.
  6. Open the properties of our created connection, the "Advanced" tab. We put a tick “Allow other network users to use the Internet connection of this computer”. We set the address "192.168.0.2" and the subnet mask "255.255.255.0" for our network card.
  7. We connect the router via the LAN port to the network card of the computer and try to connect using the browser to http://192.168.0.1, if it does not work, change the ip-address in the settings of the network card to "192.168.1.2" and try to connect accordingly to http: / /192.168.1.1. Although, I think you yourself know how to get into the settings of your router. :)
  8. In the settings of the router, WAN or "Internet connection" set the following settings:

    Connection type: Static IP
    WAN IP address: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    LAN IP: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.0.1
    DNS server: 192.168.0.1
    DHCP server: enabled
    Operating Mode: Gateway

  9. Setting up a wireless network. To do this, go to the "Wireless networks" or "WLAN" tab. We enter the name of our wireless network (SSID), for example, the name "Inet-wifi". We set the WPA2 phishing type and the network key convenient for you. We save the settings, reboot the router.
  10. We switch the cable from the LAN port to the WAN port of the router. And set the LAN IP address of the computer's network card to "192.168.0.1" and the subnet mask to "255.255.255.0".
  11. We turn on the second computer and get confused to connect to your Wi-Fi point.

In theory, everything should work :). If you have any problems, ask in your comments. I will definitely answer everyone.

Modern technology is advancing rapidly. Even in the absence in remote settlements of high-quality wired internet the mobile option comes to the rescue. Let's look at how to connect WiFi via a Megafon modem and distribute the Internet to all portable devices in the house.

How to connect?

This issue must be approached with the utmost seriousness. Therefore, we will divide the entire instruction into logical points, the implementation of which is mandatory for the Internet to work.

Router selection

This is the key factor. Not all models have a corresponding connector and the function to distribute the Internet from modems. Therefore, study the parameters of your router and, if necessary, buy a new one. Main characteristics:

Connecting and setting parameters

First, plug your USB modem into the appropriate port on your router. Everything. The main part is completed. Now it remains to set certain parameters and configure the connection. For this:

Now you can start the most fine tuning distribution of the Internet via a modem.

Setting up the connection

New routers have a function of automatic configuration of 3G modem connection. To do this, you need (consider the example of a TP-Link router):

If you have an outdated device and firmware, for successful setup you need to know the data of the mobile operator, such as APN, login and password. The connection algorithm is also changing. Here are the data from MegaFon:

  • APN - internet;
  • Login - gdata;
  • The password is gdata.

It remains to enter this data in the appropriate fields. To do this, do the following:

To connect a 4G modem, everything is much simpler:

  1. In the line "Connection Type" select "3".
  2. In the "Provider" field, select the country and operator. For example, Russia and MegaFon.
  3. Then the rest of the fields will be filled in automatically, just click "Save" and restart the router.

Now you know how to connect WiFi via MegaFon modem. The same can be done with other operators, while the Internet will be in the entire home local network. If you have any questions, write them in the comments.
