God, look for my help, Lord, look for my help. Manage, Lord, everything that I do, I read and write, everything, I think, speak and understand, for the glory of Your Holy Name, so that it will receive from You at the beginning and in You all my work will end. Grant me, God, but not by word, deed, or thought I will anger Thee, my Creator, but all my deeds, advice and thoughts may be for the glory of Thy Most Holy Name. God, look for my help, Lord, look for my help.

In the hand of great mercy, oh, my God, I entrust: my soul and a sickly body, a husband, given to me from You, and all my beloved children. This text of the prayer of the Optina elders is practically non-confessional and very psychotherapeutic. A person who started his morning with a meaningful and unhurried utterance of these or similar words has the most serious protection against any surprises and stresses, especially those caused by our own stupidity and an abundance of nervous, hasty and fussy gestures.

For reference. Optina Pustyn is a monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, located near the city of Kozelsk, Kaluga region. According to legend, it was founded at the end of the XIV century by a repentant robber named Opta (Optia), in monasticism - Macarius. At first, there were only two monks in the monastery - both very old men, but then a skete was set up in the monastery. Especially honored "hermits" settled here - people who spent many years in perfect solitude. The “elder” began to be in charge of the entire spiritual life of the monastery. From all sides, the suffering ones were drawn to the monastery. Optina became one of the spiritual centers of Russia.

In 1918, by decree of the Council of People's Commissars, Optina Hermitage was closed. First, the Gorky Rest House was opened on its territory. Before the war, on the orders of L. Beria, the NKVD of the USSR transformed the rest house into the Kozelsk-1 concentration camp, where, in anticipation of an exchange of prisoners of war between Germany and the USSR, they placed about 5,000 Polish officers, who were later sent to Katyn (and shot there).

During the Great Patriotic War At first there was a hospital on the territory of Optina Pustyn, in 1944-1945 there was a testing and filtration camp of the NKVD of the USSR for Soviet officers who returned from captivity, and after the war, until 1949, a military unit was located. This is how the story is woven.

In 1987, the monastery was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.

And everyone is free to pronounce it the way he feels. Therefore, having used instead of Your Holy Will - Light Will, I did not erect "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" in any way - I washed away the prayers not in exact accordance with the set of words written, but in the sincere feeling of faith that you put into these words.

". Prayer is the concentration of the best part of oneself and offering it for union with the Higher powers. Prayer, to be real, true, must be a cry of the heart.

Prayer is an involuntary cry of the soul to HIS God.

The Optina elders advised to leave the mundane vanity and idle talk during prayer, since this disrupts the prayer mood, drives away grace.

Before praying, you should wait until thoughts and feelings subside - that's why it is so necessary to "relax and throw out the negative."

Body, soul and mind are attuned to communion with God. What is this if not morning meditation? PERSONALLY I think so.

    The Monk Nikon wrote:

“Especially during prayer, leave ALL THOUGHTS ABOUT THE LIVING. After prayer, at home or in church, in order to maintain a prayerful tender mood, silence is necessary. Sometimes even a simple insignificant word can disturb and frighten away tenderness from our souls.

Silence prepares the soul for prayer. Silence, how it has a beneficial effect on the soul! "

And this is purely my business, how to present material to personal diary... Moreover, I do not take on the burden of "teaching", but simply offer this wonderful spiritual wisdom to the attention of my readers.

And another piece of advice from the Monk Joseph:

"If you see the error of your neighbor, which you would like to correct, if it disturbs your peace of mind and annoys you, then you are sinning and, therefore, you will not correct the error with error - it is corrected by meekness."

    And the Monk Nikon said:

"Always remember the law of spiritual life: if you are embarrassed by any shortcoming of another person and condemn him, later you will suffer the same fate, and you will suffer the same shortcoming."

Reasonable psychologists say that a person does not need to go to a psychologist, because for this we have all the sacraments Orthodox Church... In the sacraments, a person is healed of mental and physical ailments, having an immutable faith, with serious intentions to change the way of his life and strive to become like Christ, then the sacraments will be salvation for us.

    Evening prayers of Optina

Surrounded by picturesque nature, there is Optina Pustyn, which knew periods of twilight and lush bloom... Unfortunately, information about the real date and history of the desert has been lost. But its name allows us to assume that the founder was Opta - a dashing man living in the XIV century. Arranged robberies, was famous for cruelty and callousness.

Somehow he was pursued by people who wanted him dead. He decided to take refuge in a quiet, secluded place, and then continue his fishing. But something happened that contributed to the creation of the well-known monastery. On the robber, God's grace descended. After which he began to be called Macarius and was known as a hermit.

For a long time, Optina Hermitage was subjected to predatory seizures, attacks, devastation and devastation. But with the arrival of Father Abraham, the situation changed. The skete blossomed, embracing the elders.

Centuries have passed, but the elders, who have reached the highest degree of spiritual perfection, are remembered today, following their advice, instructions and predictions.

Their lives were spent in turning to the Lord and healing wounded human souls.

The highly esteemed elders advised to observe the rule consisting of morning and evening prayers.

In all unforeseen cases, do not let me forget that everything has been sent down by You. Teach me to act directly and rationally with every member of my family, without embarrassing or upsetting anyone. Lord, give me the strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all the events of the day. Guide my will and teach me to pray, believe, hope, endure, forgive and love. Amen.

Prayers of the Monk Anthony of Optina

About the beginning of any business

You will be our Helper and Patron saint in our whole life, in our outcome and after our death, in joy and sorrow, in happiness and unhappiness, in illness and health, in life and death, in everything, may Your holy will be with us, as in heaven and earth. Amen.

A new book

The publishing house of our monastery has published a new book - “Life of the Hieromartyr Benjamin (Kazan), Metropolitan of Petrograd and Gdovsk, and those who suffered like him Martyr Sergius (Shein), Martyrs Yuri Novitsky and John Kovsharov » .

In a new book by the famous Russian hagiographer Archimandrite Damaskin (Orlovsky), the reader is offered the life of the Metropolitan of Petrograd, Benjamin (Kazan), one of the first saints-martyrs who did not sin with their soul or conscience during the persecution that began and gave their lives for Christ and His Church ...

To strive for her soul - means to give her that knowledge and place, which she is called by God, i.e. to be regal, god-like-do-noy, pre-do-add-noy, holy. And to get rid of this - you know how to beat your doo-shu. Kaya is good-for-man-ve-ku, even if the world has received it, and will give its own (cf. Matthew 16, 26).
