Highscreen Power Four - Specifications. Highscreen Power Four smartphone review: long work Memory card capacity for highscreen power four

It is difficult to disagree with the fact that we all like flagships - smartphones in cases made of expensive materials with spectacular design solutions and the most high-tech filling. No one would deny themselves the pleasure of getting such a device. There are two issues, however: price and battery life. For some, top-end models seem prohibitively expensive, while others simply do not consider their purchase a justified waste of money, taking into account their needs. And there are also situations when you can't afford to use an expensive smartphone at all. For example, during long trips, when it turns out that the high-tech filling consumes the battery power indecently quickly. All these flagships do an excellent job with a huge number of tasks, but they just can't - they really work for a long time. What to do, you need to sacrifice something for the sake of graceful forms.

Highscreen has a solution to the problem with battery life. Relatively recently, we talked about an excellent smartphone with a 5000 mAh battery and technical characteristics that are not inferior to the battery life. Next in line is his younger brother - the Power Four model. From the name it is easy to guess that it has a 4000 mAh battery, and the screen size will appeal to everyone who is tired of gigantic mania in the smartphone market.

The list of characteristics and the price of the smartphone suggest that we have a budget solution. But with such a device it is not scary to be in the field for several days without energy sources. In the absence of power-hungry filling and with a 4000 mAh battery, the Highscreen Power Four demonstrates a very long battery life. If you turn on continuous movie playback, the smartphone will last about 10 hours, which is considered the benchmark in the tablet market. In mixed use, when you play a little something simple, make calls, write messages, work with applications and use the mobile Internet, you can count on about three days on a single charge. And if you strongly limit yourself - forget about games and minimize mobile Internet - the battery life will be up to 4-5 days.

By and large, after talking about the battery and battery life, the Highscreen Power Four review can be finished - already at this place there are many who want to acquire such a device. The Power Four, however, is not just a story about lifespan away from the outlet. Highscreen engineers did not rely only on the battery, but tried to make a balanced device. Such that they would like to use it every day, and not only in emergency situations. Even with the proviso that the handset belongs to the budget segment, which naturally imposes some restrictions, we can say that they succeeded.

It's worth starting with the appearance. The Highscreen Power Four is a weighty brick with a classic, austere design. The impressive body thickness of 11.2 mm is hidden by the rounded back. Despite belonging to the budget census segment, the device feels more expensive than it actually is. The reason for this is the weight, which gives the impression that metal is hiding somewhere in the body of the smartphone. Maybe even steel. The Power Four has a collapsible case and even a removable battery, but if you don't know this, there is a chance to think about a monolithic design. The reason for this is a very high-quality assembly, excellent fit of parts and reliable fixation of the rear panel.

On the front side there is a compact display with a diagonal of 4.5 inches. Matrix type - IPS. As a result, the Power Four has good color reproduction and viewing angles. And the low resolution - 480x854 pixels - is compensated by the small screen size, as a result of which the pixel density is acceptable. Above the display is a front camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as an earpiece. At the bottom there are touch-sensitive keys, though without backlighting. Otherwise, everything is standard: the right side is occupied by the volume and power buttons, the left side is empty. A 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port are spaced apart on the smaller sides of the case. In the center, in the upper part of the rear panel, is the main camera lens with a metal edging in the shape of a rounded square, underneath is a flash. At the bottom of the case is the speaker grill.

The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, with virtually no changes from the manufacturer. Compared to "bare" Android, only a few useful settings and options have been added. Let us write this down into the undoubted advantages of the apparatus. If we talk directly about use, a bundle of a MediaTek MT6735M processor and 1 GB of RAM is enough for using and running applications. If you wish, you can play something. For example, on Highscreen Power Four, everything is fine with simple games and even something like the popular World of Tanks Blitz. True, in the latter case, the case will noticeably warm up.

In the end, it's worth saying a few words about cameras. The main module with a resolution of 5 megapixels is not enough stars from the sky, but in good lighting it allows you to take shots of acceptable quality. If you work on them thoroughly in photo editors like VSCO Cam, you will be able to get a good portion of Instagram likes. But in twilight or artificial lighting, the quality of shooting drops noticeably, although not below the critical mark.

As a result, the Highscreen Power Four is a balanced budget smartphone that primarily attracts with battery life. However, it is important that the list of advantages is not limited to this. A decent screen, nice design, excellent build quality, decent performance - all this allows us to recommend the Power Four not only to those looking for a device with a large battery for emergencies. Of course, there will be difficulties with top-end games and the use of the device for mobile photography, but for such purposes the devices are sold in a completely different price segment. And if we consider the interval of 7-10 thousand rubles, the Highscreen Power Four is one of the best options for the money.

Highscreen Power Four smartphone review

Hardly anyone would argue that battery life is the weakest point of modern smartphones. The thinning trend forces the use of small batteries, and more and more powerful filling very quickly depletes the available charge. If a smartphone can work for a day without recharging, then this is considered a good result, and if something remains on the second day, then it is completely excellent. Users are just used to it.

The company is trying to combat this state of affairs. Many models of this brand have batteries more than competitors, you can remember at least a two-battery Boost. And phones with one battery usually last a little longer than the average in the class. - this is a simplified version, which also managed to be remembered for long work. The “four” has a 1000 mAh battery less, but the power consumption is also more modest. How long the phone can live from socket to socket and whether there is something interesting in it besides the battery - we find out in our review.

Case, appearance

Outwardly, it does not bear any revelations. The phone cannot be called ugly, but even in a crowd of its own kind it does not stand out in any way - like a postman who can come, but no one will notice, considering it as the norm. The inserts on the side edges were called upon to refresh the "exterior", but they did not succeed very well, only added to the device the luridness. Perhaps the device lacks bright colors, because there are only two options - black and gray, and both are rather gloomy. So - this is a gadget for users who do not have design in the first place.

The dimensions of the phone are adequate for a device with a 4.5-inch screen. The bezels around the display are small, although the thickness has grown due to the battery, but is a reasonable 11.2 mm. In addition, the back cover has bevels that effectively mask the width and allow the phone to fit perfectly in the hand. And you can put such a phone in your pocket without any problems. There is not a single gram of metal in the finish of the case - all the elements are plastic, but this is a typical picture for a budget device. The plastic itself does not seem cheap, besides, it is difficult to find fault with the build quality - nothing creaks or falls off, and the back cover can be removed fairly easily.

Complete set, controls

For a budget phone, the white branded box contains surprisingly many components. In addition to the obligatory charger, you can find a lot of useful things here. Firstly, headset headphones, which, although they will not please music lovers, are quite good by the standards of the complete equipment. Secondly, an OTG cable, which is needed not only to connect USB devices to the phone, but also to use the smartphone as a power bank (the model also has such a function). Thirdly, the silicone case. A simple and unpretentious little thing, the price of which is a few dollars in Chinese online stores. However, how often do you see it in the complete set of phones? For some reason, even flagship manufacturers save on such a necessary element, while the cheap one has it. The case has only one drawback, it does not protect the screen in any way, but if you are not in the habit of carrying your phone in the same pocket with the keys, then it will be enough.

The controls are very simple. There are only three physical buttons, and they are all located on the left side. The functions are traditional - on-off, as well as volume control. The buttons are small, but protrude noticeably from the body, so they are easy to find, even by touch. On the top there is a standard headphone jack, and at the bottom there is a place for Micro-USB. Let's note one more interesting fact, the phone has several speakers, the main one is located on the back cover. To prevent the phone from going numb in the position “on the back”, there are special protrusions that prevent the speaker from pressing against the surface, so that the audibility in any situation remains acceptable. There are some kind of "horns" on the front panel too - so that the screen does not get scratched once again.

Technical features

The filling can hardly be called heroic - although the MediaTek MT6735M processor has four cores, the clock frequency is only 1 GHz. Not so much by today's standards. 1 GB of RAM is also the minimum for a decent phone, except that the Mail-T720 video accelerator is not bad for this price category. But even with the equipment that is minimal in terms of modern parameters, the phone manages to maintain adequate performance. To work in typical applications, this power is enough, and for games, a low screen resolution is a plus. Had the display had more points, the situation would have been sad, and so there was no crime - most toys start confidently, and only the most demanding ones slow down.

The screen resolution is really small. This is perhaps the main parameter that indicates the budget of the phone. Not even enough for HD - only 854x480 pixels. In addition, unlike its older brother, which sets records for autonomy with an AMOLED screen, the "four" is equipped with a more traditional and gluttonous IPS-matrix. The picture quality, however, is difficult to find fault with. Having got used to the "ladder" inevitable with such a pixel density, you note excellent brightness, good viewing angles, as well as a decent oleophobic coating that protects the screen from fingerprints. There is no air gap under the glass, this helps to get rid of glare, the color rendering of the display is close to natural. Actually, resolution is the only screen issue. It would be easier to put up with it if it were not for the fact that some competitors offer a display with a large number of pixels for the same amount.

With this screen, 16 GB of internal memory looks generous. Let the user for their needs only have a little more than 10 GB, but for inexpensive models this is cool, usually in devices of this price group 8 GB. Wide support for wireless connections. In addition to traditional 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the phone works confidently in LTE networks, and can also be used as a navigator thanks to a GPS antenna.

Finally, the battery, which looks like almost the most important element. Its volume is 4000 mAh, which is about twice the value of most competitors in the same price group. Against their background, the Quartet seems to be the king of autonomy. Videos from YouTube with Wi-Fi turned on play for more than 10 hours - an excellent result. It is almost impossible to discharge the battery during daylight hours, you need not let the phone out of your hands for a second. With an average use of two days, you can definitely not remember about charging, and if you use the phone only for calls, then more. Not to say that this is some kind of fantastic result (especially if we remember about push-button models), but it is quite decent against the background of competitors. "Five" lives more, but there is a 5000 mAh battery, and the screen is more economical.

Night shot example

By the way, unlike the "five", the battery is removable. The back cover is removable, so there are no extra connectors on the case. Next to the battery there are two slots for SIM-cards (micro format), as well as a slot for microSD (if suddenly the built-in memory is not enough).

The resolution of both cameras of the phone is not impressive - 5 and 2 megapixels. Standard applications allow you to adjust many shooting parameters, as well as apply common filters; an LED flash is provided for the front camera. Despite all this, the quality of the resulting images is far from ideal. In the daytime, there are no problems: when the phone shoots at a low ISO, the photos are detailed and without noise, but in the dark the picture deteriorates too much, and this smears the impression. The video is also not without flaws. For some reason, there is a limitation on the resolution for him - the phone does not support Full HD, only ordinary HD, with which it is difficult to claim high quality.

Working with the phone

It comes with version Android 5.1, and, judging by the statements of the developers, an update to the sixth version is being prepared (it is quite possible that when you read this material, it will already appear). Highscreen engineers prefer minimalism, so they offer a phone with a clean operating system, without additional add-ons and software shells that may not be to everyone's liking and that consume the phone's resources. This requires a little time from the user for the initial setup and installation of favorite applications, but saves from many problems in the future.

It is difficult to boast of special features without additional software shells, but the phone does have a couple of features. Firstly, it is an interesting unlocking system, you can configure several different options for waking up the phone, the simplest of which is a double tap. Secondly, I liked the quick activation of the camera. If you “draw” the letter “C” on the screen with your finger, the device will immediately be ready to start shooting, even if it was in standby mode before.

Power saving modes

Power saving modes have also attracted attention. Their appearance is logical: if you position the phone as a long-playing one, then you need to maintain this reputation not only at the hardware level, but also at the software level. There are two saving programs, they can be conventionally called "Normal" and "Extreme". With the first one, however, you won't save much, it makes the screen black and white (unlike AMOLED, this does not greatly reduce the appetites of the IPS matrix) and closes unnecessary applications. Extreme mode is another matter. All multimedia capabilities are cut off, the phone becomes a simple dialer, with a faded screen and no Internet access. Severely, but just such a regime seemed more justified to us. If you find yourself in a difficult situation, then you must first of all preserve the possibility of voice communication, and you can do without other options. The radical mode of energy saving allows doubling the autonomy.

conclusions

The concept of a relatively inexpensive phone with a large battery will surely find its buyer. For many users, autonomy plays a very important role. it cannot be called a long-lived record holder, but its battery is larger than that of an average phone, and this is the main plus. True, you will have to pay for a large battery with other parameters. In the price range of about 10 thousand rubles, you can choose a phone with a higher resolution, or with a better camera, or more beautiful. All the parameters at once, most likely, will not be (in this, we repeat, the price category), but for this there are different models to choose from. will attract pragmatic users who need to stay connected for a long time.

Five, four, perhaps, then there will be three, two and one more, but for now we had barely had time to evaluate the new model from Highscreen, Power Five, when a new product came to our editorial office - Power Four. The device is somewhat simpler than its older brother, it is not devoid of bonuses in the delivery set, and in some places it will be even more interesting for lovers of relatively compact gadgets. We will get acquainted with the features of the smartphone during the course of the review.

Type: Smartphone
Operating system: Android 5.1
Display: 4.5 ", IPS, 480x854 pixels, capacitive
Processor: MediaTek MT6735M, 1 GHz, 4 cores; Mali-T720 video processor
Flash memory: 16GB + microSD (compatible with SDHC)
RAM: 1GB
Camera: Rear: 5MP, autofocus, flash; Front: 2MP
Communications: GSM / GPRS / EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; 3G / HSPA + 900/2100 MHz
LTE FDD (3/7/8/20), WiFi IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GPS
Features: 2 micro-SIM, OTG cable and silicone case included
Battery: Removable Li-pol, 4000 mAh
Dimensions: 134x66.2x11.2 mm, 156 g.

Appearance

First, we will examine the scope of delivery. In a white box with a diagram of the device, in addition to the smartphone itself and the battery, there are: a stereo headset, an OTG cable, a silicone case, a USB - micro-USB cable, a mains charger, as well as instructions and a warranty card.

We decided not to make a direct comparison between Power Five and Power Four, because these are devices for different purposes, tasks and even consumers, so if we allow ourselves a footnote somewhere, do not blame us, but we will try to consider the new product from scratch.

From the face, the smartphone looks like other devices of the Android line, and only the rear panel reveals that it belongs to the Highscreen in the form of a large convex and silvery inscription. The shape of the monoblock case is familiar: rounded corners, edging along the contour and sloping lines of the back. In general, the design is calm, and the assembly did not cause any complaints: no backlashes, no squeaks when squeezed, no gaps of elements are observed. The novelty lies well in the hand, a little heavier than you expect, but this is a price for autonomy. The material is plastic: the “glass” of the front panel with blackening of the reverse side along the display contour turns into glossy black, and then into a silvery edging, which in turn is divided by matte anthracite along the contour, plus the entire rear panel is made of it.

Construction elements are expected to be few, they are necessary and sufficient, and we will start listing them on the screen. The Power Four display is a medium-resolution IPS matrix. The brightness is sufficient for most situations, the colors are saturated, and the viewing angles are comfortable for work. The sensor is capacitive, supports up to 5 simultaneous touches and quite well fulfills the input of commands.

Above the screen is a horizontal slot for the earpiece and a front camera to the right of it, and below it is a block of control keys, "last launched applications", "home" and "return". The zones of the touch keys are large, which compensates for the lack of block backlighting - you won't miss.

The left side of the case is devoid of elements, while the right side has separate volume keys and a power button. The elements are small, with a moderate stroke, but they are very comfortable to work with. The bottom end is for the micro-USB interface connector and microphone hole, and the top one accommodates a 3.5mm audio jack

On the back panel, in addition to the aforementioned manufacturer's logo, there is a camera module that includes a lens and a flash on the top, plus a horizontal slot for the call speaker on the bottom.

To remove the back cover, you need to pry it by the protrusion of the interface connector and pull it up. Inside, a rechargeable battery is waiting for us in a corresponding recess, and above it is a micro-SIM card sled and perpendicular to them is a memory card compartment.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: User interface

The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 or, more simply, Lolipop. We did not see any cardinal improvements from the manufacturer, except for third-party software and small cosmetics, which is rather a plus.

The lock screen, in addition to the current time in digital format and date, displays the status bar at the top, and the indication of unlock zones at the bottom.

Desktops are traditionally selected and filled at your own discretion: in addition to wallpapers that can be set on the lock screen, you can select widgets, shortcuts, and also combine shortcuts into folders. Flipping of tables is carried out in a horizontal plane, while the bottom line is a changeable "dock" of the main functions.

The manager of previously launched applications is called with a separate key, and the status bar, in addition to information about the current state of the device, allows, by scrolling down, to access the launch matrix for wireless and other modules.

The main menu is matrix, 4x5 format with a vertical layout, like desktops, and the settings menu is a vertical, lined list of available options.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Dual-SIM

The Dual-SIM service is made according to the standard scheme: in the settings menu, it is proposed to select the defaults for actions using the cellular network, or to configure the selection immediately before use. The indication of networks and events is visual, there are no difficulties in mastering and understanding from which card the event was committed.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Telephone service and messages

The telephone service is made by a single hub with the ability to select a separate element of the notebook. In addition to the dialer, call log and quick calls, it also contains a black list. It makes sense to synchronize the phone book itself with your Google account so as not to enter subscribers manually, although there are more than enough record fields for this action.

Messaging services are very diverse: in addition to the SMS / MMS hub, there is a proprietary Hangouts messenger, and both an unnamed client and a proprietary Gmail are responsible for the e-mail. The logic of building correspondence is traditional, according to the subscriber in the form of a “sheet” of clouds, and the ergonomics of the applications is pleasant.

The default keyboard is generally comfortable, but supporters of more innovative solutions are always waiting for Google Play and a variety of options.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Organizer, office

The office suite includes a task manager, google drive, downloads, calendar, calculator, compass, explorer (file manager), clock with alarms, world time, timer and stopwatch. The set is interesting and quite sufficient for an out-of-the-box device.

In addition, we refer to the “office chips” application “chameleon”, which, when you point the camera at your current external image, will decorate the theme of your smartphone in the same colors.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Maps & GPS

The navigation service is expectedly represented by Google maps with the ability to use navigation in beta mode. The solution is traditional, loved by many and, in general, functional, requiring no alternatives for both walking and car orientation around the city.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Internet

There are two Internet browsers: an unnamed and branded Google Chrome - to choose from. Both applications do their job well and have considerable functionality, but Chrome remains cross-platform with the ability to work simultaneously on various devices, which increases its rating in the eyes of the user.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Camera

The set plus the functions of the front and rear cameras, despite the autofocus and the flash of the latter, seem to hint that the solution in this case is a niche one and the emphasis on these functions is not the main one. At the same time, a set of settings, including type, shooting mode, geolocation and other delights are available. The quality of shooting can be assessed by the attached test frames.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Multimedia

Power Four's music services include a voice recorder with radio recording capability, an FM radio itself, and a standard music player. All applications are standard, working with them is familiar, and the sound quality with a complete headset is a solid four.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Hardware

As for the "hardware" component of the novelty, we have before us a flagship, but not a budget solution in the usual sense, but a solid "average": this is noticeable both in tests and in use. No, the scrolling of the interface, the launch and operation of stock applications flawlessly, but "heavy" applications and Full-HD video on the Power Four are not so fast.

With a powerful battery by today's standards and with the available hardware, the device is able to hold out up to three - three and a half days in the mode of average user loads, which is very good. In standby mode, the smartphone can last for half a month, and through the OTG cable it can also charge, for example, a Bluetooth headset.

The network reception quality is at a high level: no connection failures were recorded during the testing, except for natural obstacles, such as metro tunnels, and even there one SIM card slot usually insured the other. The call volume is not bad, sufficient for most situations, and the vibration alert is rather average power. The "spoken speaker - microphone" combination works smoothly, without attracting the attention of either the user or the interlocutor.

Highscreen Power Four :: Review :: Impressions and conclusions

Highscreen has managed to say a "popular" solution. Judge for yourself: an average-powered smartphone with a pleasant (9900 rubles at the time of this review) price. The advantages are a powerful battery, two SIM-cards, a slot for a memory card, a nice design and an extended kit including a case and an OTG cable.

Yes, this is not an ideal, but a decent screen, but in general, for the expected scenario of use and in the niche occupied, this offer will be very attractive.

With active use, modern smartphones even "do not live" until the evening. Manufacturers are chasing crazy performance and thinning the smartphone, which inevitably leads to disastrous results for the user, literally forcing them to live near a power outlet. But our today's hero is a compact smartphone with a record autonomy, which 99.9% of modern smartphones will envy.

Highscreen has released a novelty - an inexpensive Power Four smartphone with compact dimensions, a 4.5-inch screen, support for LTE networks and a 4000 mAh battery. The device is primarily interesting for its battery, but first things first.

Highscreen Power Four specifications:
OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop
Processor: 4-core, MediaTek MT6735M, 1 GHz
Video processor: Mali-T720
Display: 4.5 "480x854 IPS, OGS
Number of SIM-cards: 2 (microSIM)
Battery: Li-Ion 4000 mAh, removable
Networks: GSM / GPRS / EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz);
3G / HSPA + (900/2100 MHz);
LTE FDD (3/7/8/20)
Main camera: 5.0 MP, AF, flash
Front camera: 2.0 MP
Permanent memory size: 16 GB
RAM size: 1 GB
Expansion slot: microSD (compatible with SDHC)
Modules: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS
Dimensions: 134x66.2x11.2 mm
Weight: 156g

The package bundle is quite interesting. The manufacturer has equipped the smartphone with a wired headset, a USB-OTG adapter for connecting storage media or other devices to the smartphone, as well as a high-quality matte silicone case.

The side faces of the smartphone are painted in metal, but there is no metal here. The body of the smartphone is entirely made of plastic. It might be even better. Because the weight of the smartphone is already not small, and with a metal case it will no longer be comfortable.

At the top there is a headphone jack, on the right there are volume control and on / off buttons, and on the bottom there is a MicroUSB connector.

The display is protected by Asahi Glass Dragontrail (similar to Gorilla Glass), which is very resistant to external influences. The display itself practically merges with the bezel into a single black color, which makes it very attractive. The sub-screen touch buttons are not backlit and in the dark it is not always convenient to use them.

The display itself is built using IPS-OGS technology and has a diagonal of 4.5 inches with a modest resolution by today's standards - only 480 x 854 pixels. Contrary to expectations, there is no pixelation. The PPI parameter (number of pixels per inch) is 220 units. The brightness is more than enough. At night, in order not to be "blind", the very minimum brightness will be enough. The rest of the time, 30-40% brightness will be more than sufficient for comfortable work.

The Power Four is powered by the MediaTek MT6735M platform, a budget 64-bit processor with LTE (Cat4) support. The chip configuration includes four 1 GHz Cortex-A53 processor cores and Mali T720 graphics.
In the Antutu Benchmark test, the smartphone scored 21,071 virtual parrots, which is not bad, and given the low resolution, it will not be difficult for a smartphone to cope with 3D games.

The smartphone has enough performance to handle modern games with dignity. We tested two dozen games and the only game where we noticed problems was Death Rally. For some reason, instead of characters, there are only white squares and emptiness in it. Because everything else works correctly, then we conclude that the point is in the game itself, and not the smartphone.

Under the back cover there are 2 microSIM card slots and a microSD card slot. The smartphone reads cards with a capacity of 64 GB, although they must first be formatted with special utilities in the FAT32 file system.

There is a sticker under the battery with the designation SIM1-LTE, SIM2-GSM, which can be misleading. In fact, through the settings menu, you can switch the data transfer to any of the SIM cards. At the same time, the LTE mode switches.
The smartphone works with all Russian and world frequencies of 2G cellular networks, WCDMA-900, WCDMA-PCS-1900 and WCDMA-IMT-2000 frequencies are supported, as well as LTE networks - Band 1, 3, 7, 20 and 40.

The turn of the most interesting has come - the battery! The manufacturer did not save money and equipped the smartphone with a high-quality battery with an impressive capacity of 4000mAh. At the same time, the body of the smartphone is quite compact, and the beveled corners neutralize any hints of thickness. The only thing that the battery gives out is the total weight of the smartphone, which is almost 160 grams.
Considering the economical MT6735M platform, the smartphone shows fantastic results. The manufacturer itself claims that the smartphone is capable of working up to a week in active mode and up to 30 days in standby mode. It may be so, but we were interested in tests at maximum load and intensity.

The smartphone is able to work for almost 22 hours in Internet browsing mode via WiFi with illumination set at 36%, while almost 60% of the time the smartphone worked at its maximum frequency - 988 MHz.

Or almost 18 hours of continuous video viewing! Let me remind you that this is all in the mode of the always-on screen and wireless networks.

Are there many smartphones now that can work for almost a day with the screen on? What can we say about autonomy, if you use it not so intensively? - the smartphone will easily last two days in very intensive use mode or 3-4 days of standard use (up to 2-3 hours of the screen on a day).

Moreover, if this does not seem enough, in the settings you can enable various energy saving systems and gain more time with active use. The smartphone is quite capable of competing with e-books.

Cameras, like any other decent device - two. True, they cannot boast of a resolution - only 5 and 2 megapixels. It probably doesn't make sense to describe them, it's better to just look at the sample photos and everyone will make a conclusion for himself.

At its relatively low cost, the smartphone has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in memory. They also did not save on memory - it has good speed characteristics. The read / write speed of the RAM is 2866 MB / s, and the speed of the built-in storage varies from 75 to 91 MB / s for reading and a stable 15 MB / s for writing.

Because the smartphone out of the box runs on the Android 5.1 operating system - there are no problems with free space for installing applications that were encountered in Android 4.x. All smartphone memory is used as a whole - both for installing applications and for file storage. Of the 16 GB, only 12 are available to the user. The rest of the space is occupied by the operating system itself.

The only drawback of the operating system is that the manufacturer has preinstalled almost all Google services that are available today. The most sensible solution, for which many would say thanks, is to install only one Google.Play, and the rest of the applications, as needed, will be installed by users themselves.

Navigation
Unfortunately, the smartphone lacks support for the Russian navigation system GLONASS, so the only thing left to determine is the coordinates of the network and GPS / aGPS. Cold start GPS (with disconnected Internet) in cloudy weather takes 5-7 seconds, hot - almost instantly. The smartphone "clings" to all satellites that are in sight.

Minuses
- weak camera
- almost a complete set of pre-installed Google services

pros
- Battery
- excellent autonomy
- GPS and WiFi antennas
- equipment
- fast built-in memory

At the time of writing the review, the Highscreen Power Four smartphone could be purchased at a price of 8,450 rubles. Considering the total characteristics, and most importantly, the capacity of the built-in battery in terms of the cost of a smartphone, this device has virtually no competitors. I would like to believe that the smartphone will become a bestseller and at the same time a lesson to other smartphone manufacturers, teaching them to listen to their users and produce not only thin, but also practical devices with good autonomy, like our today's Power Four.

Introduction

At the end of last year, Vobis Computer announced a smartphone called Power Four. The name speaks. The fact is that in our market there is also a Power Five device, and not so long ago Five Pro appeared. As you remember, the Five had a 5000 mAh battery, and, as you might guess, the Four had a 4000 mAh battery. On the one hand, the names are convenient and understandable, on the other hand, in new Vobis products you will have to add either numbers 2, 3, 4 after Four and Five, or, for example, do it like this: “Highscreen Four and a half”. I'm kidding, of course.

The "four" now costs about 10,000 rubles. In my opinion, it is expensive. However, after reading the conclusion, you will be surprised by the almost complete absence of direct competitors from the Power Four.

Design, dimensions, controls

The appearance of the Power Four smartphone is completely primitive: a typical inexpensive "non-name" device. However, some design details still leave a positive impression: a double chrome edging around the perimeter of the case and its design for microUSB and 3.5 mm connectors. Everything seems to be simple, but tasteful.

The dimensions for a 4.5-inch screen are relatively compact - 134x66x11.2 mm, the weight is also within the normal range, taking into account the battery capacity, - 152 grams. It fits perfectly in the hand due to the sloping back surface, smooth edges and materials.

In this case, the gadget is made of soft-touch plastic, and the front side is protected by Asahi Glass - Japanese glass. During use, about a month, the plastic did not rub, the edging remained intact, not a single scratch appeared on the screen. By the way, in the kit you will find a bumper cover for the sides and back. It is made of silicone, the color is gray, the material is translucent.

It looks good on a smartphone, it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, although the device becomes a little wider, however, you can't get away from this.

The display, as I said above, is covered with glass, an oleophobic coating is applied, and quite effective: prints are erased quickly, a finger glides over the surface easily.

With the assembly, everything turned out to be fine too: there is no creak or backlash, it does not crunch in the hand when squeezed.

At the top in the center are the front camera, light and proximity sensors, an earpiece. The speaker is of high quality, the interlocutor is heard loudly and clearly. The only thing that I didn't really like was the timbre, it goes a little into low frequencies.

Below the display are the typical Android buttons - Back, Home and Menu. They have no backlighting, they are marked with silvery paint, in insufficient lighting conditions the buttons are practically indistinguishable.

At the bottom - microUSB and a microphone, on top - a 3.5 mm headphone jack, on the right - separate volume control buttons and a button to turn on the phone (activate the screen, lock). They are comfortable, the travel is minimal, the pressure is soft, but you can feel it.

On the reverse side there is a camera module, rising a millimeter from the body (they could have "drowned", given the weak camera module and the large thickness of the body), a flash and a slot where the speakerphone is hidden.

The cover is removed by prying it off the microUSB notch. Under it, on top, there are two slots for SIM cards of the Micro format and a slot for a memory card (I think that it makes no sense to indicate the type, since there are no other formats in smartphones, except for microSD).

Display

This device uses a 4.5-inch screen. Physical size - 56x99 mm, top frame - 16 mm, bottom - 19 mm, right and left - about 5 mm each. There is an anti-reflective coating, which is quite effective.

The Power Four display resolution from Highscreen is FWVGA, that is, 480x854 pixels, the aspect ratio is 16: 9, and the density is 217 pixels per inch. IPS matrix without air gap.

The maximum white brightness is 350 cd / m2, the maximum black brightness is 0.6 cd / m2, the contrast is 582: 1. Color reproduction is natural, colors are saturated. At certain angles, the screen turns yellow and violet (even with a slight inversion) - a typical sign of a not the most expensive matrix. The sensitivity of the touch layer is excellent. There is a function of activating the screen in the locked state of the phone by double tap.

Battery

This model uses a removable 4000 mAh lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. Let me remind you that the Power Five has a 5000 mAh battery.

In my mode of working with the device, the gadget functioned for 4 days (intelligent power saving): an hour and a half of calls (in just 4 days), constant synchronization with Wi-Fi (every day from 9.00 to 01.00, twitter, mail, skype, whatsapp), 4- 6 hours of LTE (in just 4 days). The screen glow in this mode is 6 hours.

With games, the situation is a little worse: the battery runs out after 5-6 hours of continuous "battle". The video device "spins" for about 12 hours (HD).

If you turn on the extreme mode (all the icons disappear, the screen is filled with black, many functions are turned off), then the Power Four will be able to provide more than 500 hours.

In the settings you will find the "Power Regulator":

  • Switched off
  • Normal mode. Prevents background apps from running without permission. Dark background included
  • Extreme mode. Only phone, contacts, SMS and clock function.

The manufacturer decided to save money on the network adapter (the charge current is only 1A), so you will "feed" the "four" for about 5 hours. So you have to look for a more powerful charger.

Communication capabilities

The device works not only in 2G / 3G networks (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, WCDMA 900/2100 MHz), but also in 4G CAT 4 (3/7/8/20) both sim cards.

There is no NFC chip, the rest is standard for any Android smartphone: GPS, Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 with OTG support.

Memory and memory card

Inside there is 1 GB of RAM (usually about 400 MB free). Why not 1.5 GB, as in the Power Five, is unfortunately not entirely clear to me. Saving? Built-in memory 16 GB, available about 12 GB. There is a slot for a microSD memory card, the maximum volume is 64 GB.

Cameras

Traditionally, there are two camera modules: 5 MP (F2.8 aperture) and 2 MP (F2.8 aperture). There is one LED flash.

The cameras are ordinary, unremarkable, they shoot normally for 5 megapixels. During the day, the picture is bright, saturated, detailed, sharpness does not drop in the corners. However, apparently, due to the small matrix, the noise is still noticeable. I also didn't like the fact that the camera software strongly compresses photos, so you can see artifacts in many frames. Focus is fast and accurate.

Indoors or at night, the quality drops sharply: the image becomes soapy, a lot of noise appears (dark spots are the effect of “blurring” monochrome noise).

The front camera for the 2 MP sensor shoots well. But HD-video for some reason records only at 10 frames per second, obviously not for "vlogs".

The main camera also writes HD videos, but at 25 frames per second. There is a "touch focus". The sound is clear.

Performance

The device is powered by the Taiwanese MediaTek MT6735M chipset. This is a 64-bit SoC, which contains 4 ARM Cortex-53 cores, 28 nm technical process, clock frequency of each - up to 1 GHz (in the modification without the "M" index, the clock frequency is 1.3 - 1.5 GHz). Mali T-720 with support for Open GL ES 3.0 and Open CL 1.2 API is used as graphics.

Under the load of the processor, the case practically does not heat up.

If we talk about software optimization, then in Highscreen everything is fine with this: the interface works smoothly, without any hints of brakes, applications start quickly. With toys, too, everything is more or less normal, but you should not count on the maximum parameters and 60 FPS: for example, in Unkilled you have to set the settings to medium or even low, Brothers In Arms 3 also slows down.

It should be noted that the MT6735M chip (like the usual 6735) was created as an inexpensive solution for use in devices that can function in various networks. Therefore, its main feature is LTE in our country.

Performance tests

Software platform

The novelty operates on a relatively fresh version of the operating system Google Android 5.1, which is already good. The user interface has not been redesigned, only the main icons have been replaced with round ones.

Multimedia

The music player is branded. At startup, it automatically scans the memory for melodies. Works with folders. In the settings you will find DTS effects, as well as ready-made presets for various types of headphones. In addition, you can adjust the parameters yourself: bass, treble, center and other chips. They did not cheat with the equalizer: it is a proprietary five-band (60 Hz, 230 kHz, 910 kHz, 4 kHz and 14 kHz). Headphone volume is high. The quality is great for similar devices. I liked everything.

The loudspeaker volume is slightly above average, the quality is not very good, especially when listening to melodies, but it will work for calls without any problems.

The radio is present.

Conclusion

The quality of the cellular signal did not raise any questions for me. The vibration alert is weak: you will hear it rather than feel it.

Let me remind you once again that the Highscreen Power Four now costs 10,000 rubles. For some reason it seemed that the price was lower, but no, looking at the announcement of the device, I was unpleasantly surprised at not the lowest price. What do you get for this money?

  • Compact, well-assembled body, practical materials
  • High-capacity battery with good battery life
  • Fourth generation communications (4G LTE)
  • Excellent headphone sound quality

The rest is rather controversial: the screen has a low resolution, violet and yellow at angles, the cameras are average, the appearance is for a big fan.

Competitors:

DEXP Ixion EL250 Amper E... It costs about 8,000 rubles. The screen is 5 inches, but the resolution is 480x854 pixels, the battery is 5200 mAh! Everything else is similar to Highscreen.

Philips Xenium V526 LTE... It costs about 15,000 rubles. 5-inch HD screen, 13 MP camera, 5000 mAh battery.

If 4G is removed from the criteria:

SENSEIT E400... It costs about 9,000 rubles. 5-inch qHD screen, 8 MP camera, 4000 mAh battery.

Micromax Q392... It costs 8,700 rubles. 5-inch HD screen, 2 GB RAM, 8 MP camera, 4000 mAh battery

I agree that this way you can remove functions indefinitely, and as a result we will get a push-button "dialer".

There are also devices such as Oukitel K4000, Homtom HT5, BLACKVIEW BV5000, but these are all Chinese devices to the core without a guarantee.

Probably, I missed some smartphone models, but it turns out that there are practically no direct competitors for Highscreen Power Four in our market.
