How to melt a soap base in the microwave

The soap base is melted without adding water or other components. The base melts very well on contact with heat. Since the microwave oven heats up quickly, the soap base can be melted in 2-3 minutes. At maximum power (350W) for 100 grams, 1-2 minutes will be enough.

For those who are just starting out and are not sure how to melt the soap base, we recommend setting it for a shorter time and periodically checking its condition. The temperature should not exceed 60-65 degrees, also do not allow the base to boil and boil. When melting over 100 grams, stir the base to evenly distribute the temperature every 30 seconds.

A water bath is used to reduce the intensity of heat and sharp drop from the stove. Since the soap base melts quickly, you may not notice and spoil it (it will boil, burn, begin to evaporate, and so on). During the melting stage, it is important to preserve all the properties of the base. If you want the base to stay hot, you can add oils and other ingredients in a water bath.

Build a water bath with an iron pot filled with water and a heat-resistant deep plate. Boil water in a saucepan (or in a kettle in advance) and immerse a plate with a soap base in hot water, water should not get into the base. Make a slow fire. The soap base will begin to melt and melt. As soon as small lumps remain, turn off the heat. When the base comes, i.e. the lumps will melt, remove it from the bath. A water bath will take about 10-15 minutes.

Prepare other ingredients in advance: essential oils, dyes, fillers, scrubbing ingredients. Since the soap base thickens quickly, they must be added immediately and there will be no time to search.

Making soap additives from a soap base

The components are added to the hot soap base in the following order and ratio:

1. Add 1/3 teaspoon of heavy oil to 100 grams of soap base. This oil degrades the soaping properties, so if you overdo it, stains may appear on the surface of the soap. ...

2. The soap can now be scented with essential oils(3-7 drops), food flavorings (3-4 drops), or fragrances. Oils and fragrances should not be mixed. ...

3. Now we color our soap. Add dyes liquid (1-7 drops) or powder (1 / 6-1 / 3 teaspoon), you can also use gloss or mother-of-pearl. Dilute dry dyes with water, and pigments with essential or fatty oil.

Friends, hello!

I cannot but touch on the topic of the end of the old era (now better known in the news as "the end of the world") in my blog.

What do I think about this? I believe that the old era (or world) is ending, and that ??, right, a new one begins.

A wonderful time of new opportunities, a new "light" begins.

And, just on the topic of new opportunities, I want to give you a recipe that really opens up a new "era" in the era of soap making from scratch :)

I'll show you today how to make a soap base from scratch. Such a base, which melts in the microwave, easily pours and takes any shape, and I will even show a video about how it melts :). The base is completely natural, or, as many now like to say, organic.

Oh yes. It is also transparent :)

DIY soap base is more than real!

Tempting?

Every soap maker who started with a soap base cannot deny how convenient it is to use - ppraz, cut into cubes, two - melted in the microwave (or in a water bath), three - added oils, fragrances, dye and - poured into forms. Now you can only wait for solidification. The whole process can take from 5 to 15 minutes.

However, we also know that the soap base contains a lot of different types.

Another thing is soap from scratch, which involves working with lye (scary). And if you are already digesting what is already ready, then it requires some effort and time, for nothing does not want to fit normally into shape, but completely natural.

How many of you have not thought about how to make a soap base with your own hands and from scratch? So easy to use? Better yet, brew clear soap from scratch ... so natural and beautiful ...

Here, I tell you, the solution has been found :)

I recently found a presentation from a conference of soapmakers from the United States, where chemistry professor Dr. Kevin Dunn, author of Scientific Soapmaking (cool!), Talked about his experiences on this topic.

And you know, I tried it, and I got a wonderful almost perfectly transparent soap. I love it: a soap base at home is possible and possible so easily, from completely accessible ingredients! Feel free to throw away all your (and mine) notes about making glycerin soap from scratch. I will definitely not return to them anymore :) I know (and you will soon find out a better way too).

Yes, we will use alcohol. But not ethyl, which is so difficult to get, and which is prohibited for sale. And not propylene glycol, which, although allowed, scares many.

We will use glycerin :) The recipe for a natural soap base is simple, we only need three ingredients: oils, lye, water and glycerin. You don't need anything else!

Soap base recipe from scratch:

*do not be afraid a large number castor oil, the soap hardens perfectly overnight.

** glycerin can be added from 25% to 100%, the more, the more transparent the soap and the better soap will melt.

But! soap can "sweat", as can soap base. The more glycerin, the more intense.

The process for preparing a soap base is similar to preparing soap from scratch using a hot method. It took me 3.5 hours.

We weigh the oils first

And we drown them in a water bath. Or in the microwave

We weigh the water.

Remember safety precautions!

Weigh the alkali sodium hydroxide.

And we dissolve it in water. Be sure to take heat-resistant dishes for preparing an alkaline solution.

We are waiting for the oils and alkali to reach the same temperature.

We mix the alkaline solution and oils. Just in case, I filter it through a strainer

Stir the mixture with an immersion blender until a trace appears

You can make a thick track for us :)

Now we cook this soap hot in a water bath under a lid. Or, if you like, in the oven.

The soap should be completely cooked. Do not pinch your tongue.

Pour measured glycerin into the ready-made soap. I had about 740 grams of glycerin for 900 grams of soap :)

The consistency changed immediately !!! Now close the lid and cook until completely transparent.

The bottom melts first

Then gradually all the lumps disappear

At this point, I decided to conduct a transparency test - I took a transparent mass with a spoon and poured it onto a plastic napkin

Cool, yeah?

Oh yeah! Cry, lovers of glycerin soap! Which of you did it look the same ???

At this stage, pour the soap into the mold.

If bubbles come out on the surface, alcohol them.

Soap I got dofig. I didn't calculate :) 1700 grams.

Another container.

But the beauty of it is that such a soap can be melted as many times as you like. And on the nose - New Year:) and February 23rd. And March 8th. Catch ????

In the morning I got such a bar.

The pieces from it are transparent, although not perfect.

But this is not an industrial soap base with all sorts of byaki, this is an absolutely natural soap from scratch. Yes! It also melts in the microwave. Or in a water bath.

I decided to demonstrate this to you on the video. True, in the video, the colors are brighter and the base looks yellower than it actually is.

Great???

A couple more photos about transparency.

Such a framework takes any form. And that's cool.

Abandoned use plastic molds since cook only soap from scratch ???

Not worth it :)))

This soap comes out of molds just as well as an industrial soap base.

Are there any disadvantages to a soap base made with your own hands ???

  • Soap made from it "sweats" just like industrial soap base due to its high glycerin content.
  • Milkiness and foaminess are not too high, in contrast to variants with sodium laureth sulfate.

But naturally :)

Is there a way to fix "sweating" or not to feel uncomfortable?

Of course! Wrap the soap in plastic immediately after preparation. Without access to air, nothing will happen to him.

When will it be used -upper layer the glycerin will be washed off, and the soap will not sweat anymore.

You can also reduce the amount of glycerin and use sodium laureth sulfate. The soap will sweat less and foam better.

But for me this is not an option :)

Be sure to make this wonderful natural soap base with your own hands!

You can make a sea of New Year's gifts out of it!

Upcoming holidays!
