An experiment on washing dishes with mustard powder. Mustard powder is a safe dishwashing detergent

All kinds of gels and powders smell great, of course. And the dishes seem to be washed well. But they are made from refined products, and almost all household chemicals that are sold to us are toxic. She pollutes environment, and besides, it is not completely washed off from plates and pans, no matter how much you rinse the dishes.

Surfactants contained in detergents enter our stomachs, and there they behave in the same way as on the surface of dishes that need to be washed - they corrode everything. Bottom line: gastritis, ulcers, allergies and many other diseases.

Eco-friendly dishwashing detergents are now available in stores, but they are not always effective and are expensive. Meanwhile, there are natural remedies that can perfectly wash a mountain of dishes. Most of them are in any kitchen, take it and use it.

Mustard

It perfectly absorbs all the fat. Therefore is the best remedy for washing greasy dishes and pans. You can act different ways: Dip a wet sponge into a saucer with mustard, apply it to the dishes, wipe the dishes with a paste of mustard and water. Or you can draw hot water into a sink or a basin, add a couple of teaspoons of mustard and wash the dishes in this solution with an ordinary sponge - everything is perfectly washed.

By the way, mustard can also collect non-washable chemicals from dishes. At the very least, it will wash them off much more efficiently than just water. Therefore, some housewives first wash heavily soiled dishes with a small amount detergent, and then washed with mustard.

Soda

It cleans pans and trays, washes away grease, deodorizes and neutralizes the acidic taste of water. You can clean teapots with baking soda, wash plates like a paste, and rub cutlery. But baking soda can scratch special coatings such as Teflon. Therefore, it must be used selectively.

Soda can be added to soap solution(made from laundry soap). It will additionally strengthen the remedy.

In addition to baking soda, there is also a household soda. It is caustic, although harmless, therefore, when working with baking soda it is better to use gloves. This soda is a stronger alkali than baking soda. In addition, its abrasive properties are higher. To wash the smoked pans, you need to pour a glass of soda into the bucket, put the dishes in the solution and leave overnight.

Vinegar

He cannot cope with fat alone, but it will help to disinfect dishes, destroy mold and viruses. It is for the purpose of disinfection that you can sprinkle washcloths and dishwashing sponges with vinegar, add it to cleaning pastes.

Vinegar works well with soiling glassware, for example, you can wipe glasses with it.

Laundry soap

Especially loved by housewives universal remedy... On women's forums, they even devote separate branches to him, consisting of declarations of love and listing of merits. Laundry soap can really replace a huge battery of products household chemicals... Including dishwashing detergent.

Its advantage is that it is made from organic matter, it is not a refined product, so it does not pollute the environment. No dyes, preservatives, or fragrances are added to it.

The soap rinses off the plates well, does not leave a smell. It is used to make homemade dishwashing liquids or use it in its regular, solid form. In any case, laundry soap perfectly removes grease and other impurities.

Bamboo napkin

These napkins are quite expensive and difficult to buy. But on the other hand, they perfectly remove grease and dirt from plates, even without any detergents, both environmentally friendly and not so. The napkins are simple to use - you just need to wash them periodically, and they will serve for quite a long time.

Ash

A hard-to-find remedy, unless you are in the country or on a hike. Any amount of excellent detergent can be obtained from the fire or in the stove. Ash absorbs grease and also has a slight abrasive effect, so it can be used to clean baking trays or baking tins. But, of course, you shouldn't use it for Teflon coating.

The method of use is simple: sprinkle some ash on the surface to be washed, add a few drops of water and wash the dishes with the resulting paste.

By the way, ash can help if your enamel kettle or saucepan is darkened. It is necessary to fill the dishes 1/3 with water, pour water and boil for an hour. Then rinse the dishes.

Paste for cleaning pots, pans and other heavily soiled dishes

¼ a bar of laundry soap (or remnants)

1 glass of hot water

1.5 tbsp soda

1.5 tbsp mustard

2 tbsp ammonia(4 ampoules)

Step 1... Grate the laundry soap and add half of the water. Put in a water bath (or microwave).

Step 2. While the soap is melting, add the remaining water to it. You need to get the consistency of sour cream or gel.

Step 3. After the soap dissolves, it must be cooled a little and add soda and mustard. Mix.

Step 4... Add ammonia. When handling alcohol, wear gloves and open a window.

Step 5. Beat the whole mixture quickly with a mixer. The formed foam is removed.

Step 6... Pour the resulting mass into containers with a wide neck and lids. This is done very quickly so that the volatile ammonia does not evaporate. Wait a few hours for the gel to thicken.

Everyday at home modern man uses up to five names of different chemicals... These are detergents and conditioners, cleaning products and, of course, dishwashing liquid. And if the powders come into contact only with the skin, then the remnants of gels for cleansing plates and cups enter the body.

Experts and scientists have broken many copies in disputes about the dangers and benefits of synthetic detergents... But everyone is free to choose whether he is ready to absorb the remaining foam along with an appetizing dish. Moreover, there are natural alternative formulations that cope with food debris just as well.

Kitchen helpers

Washing dishes is unpleasant, but mandatory process... You have to go to the sink and pick up a sponge at least 2 times a day. And even more often for parents of babies and toddlers.

The following foods and substances familiar from childhood will help to make dishwashing simple and safe:

  1. Mustard. Crushed pungent grains are excellent at absorbing fat. Even frozen food residues can be washed with their help. Mustard powder dishwashing detergent can be used alone or as part of a mixture.
  2. Soda. Excellent cleaning and disinfecting agent. Thanks to its abrasive properties, it copes even with stubborn deposits on dishes.
  3. Vinegar. Alone, this substance will not cope with fat, but it can be used to disinfect washcloths. Also add to cleaning pastes to kill mold.
  4. Soap. Usually the same unpresentable laundry soap is used. It effectively removes grease and is completely washed off with water.

Each "assistant" can be used both solo and in tandem. You just need to figure out for which surfaces one or another safe composition can be used and how to do it correctly.

Mustard powder

With the help of mustard powder, they washed the dishes of grandmothers and mothers many years ago. This tool was used to clean dishes in kindergartens, since the "burning helper" is completely safe.

Dry mustard for dishwashing is the most common mustard powder that housewives purchase for making mayonnaise and other sauces. For the price it is more than affordable, and the pack will last for a long time.

For convenience, the powder can be poured into a suitable jar or container from under the powder, so it will be convenient to dose it.

The mustard is applied to a sponge, the dishes are thoroughly processed and washed off with water. You don't need to use too much water, the powder can be easily removed.

The only drawback of this cleaning method is the low efficiency of the product in cold water.

Cases of allergy to burning powder are known. To be sure if there will be a reaction, it is enough to remember whether family members have previously eaten mustard, for example, with dumplings or jellied meat. If such a seasoning was always served on the table and did not cause negative reactions, there is nothing to worry about.

Baking soda

The use of soda in everyday life practically knows no boundaries. It is added to cleaning products, incorporated into homemade washing powders and gels, and, of course, used to wash dishes.

Soda is usually used to remove stubborn dirt. This substance will help make pots, glasses and cups shine as if they were just purchased.

To clean a few tablespoons of baking soda, dissolve in water and soak the dishes for half an hour. Then wash with a sponge. If the dirt has not gone away, apply a little powder on a cloth and rub the stains with pressure. Even burnt fat and tea bloom surrender under such an onslaught.

Dishwashing baking soda can be used in several ways. However, it cannot be used on Teflon-coated pans and pans. Abrasive particles will damage the non-stick layer.

Food vinegar

The acidic fermentation product is used not only for cleaning the house. It is added to the water for the final rinsing of the hair, it is used to clean washing machine and Electric kettle... This liquid will help in the fight against dirty dishes.

Of course, you shouldn't wash your plates with vinegar after dinner. But you can use it in several ways:

  1. For making glassware shine. Soak glasses and glasses in solution and rinse under running water, wipe dry.
  2. For bleaching white dishes. Soak and wash plates and bowls.
  3. For softening burnt food. Pour the rest of the food with vinegar directly in a saucepan or on a baking sheet overnight. In the morning, a slight mechanical impact will be enough.

In addition, wooden planks, brushes, etc. can be treated with an acidic composition. Such an impact will relieve bad smell and will prevent the growth of microbes.

Laundry soap

Classic laundry soap, yellowish-brown, which does not have a pleasant smell, is a real find for the hostess. With its help, you can not only wash clothes and clean the house, but also wash dishes.

It is enough to lather a sponge and thoroughly clean the plates with it. The soap works great with grease, even in cool water. Foam is completely rinsed off plates and leaves no odor.

You can also make a liquid product from soap, which is convenient to dispense. It is enough to grate the block and dissolve in water. To prepare such a composition, you can use remnants, which accumulate if the hostess washes with laundry soap. They can be collected, and then melted and turned into a product for safe wash utensils.

Eco-friendly paste

From ingredients that are safe and widely used in everyday life, you can make a paste that will cope with stubborn dirt.

For this you will need:

  • 1/3 bar of soap;
  • 2 tablespoons of soda and mustard powder;
  • 2 ampoules (2 tablespoons) of ammonia;
  • glass of water.

All ingredients are available, safe and effective: mustard powder, laundry soap and soda - such a paste will be indispensable for dishwashing:

  1. Grate the soap and mix with half of the water. Heat, stirring occasionally, until the soap dissolves. Add water gradually until a sour cream consistency is obtained.
  2. Cool slightly, add soda and mustard powder, stir thoroughly. Add ammonia.
  3. Beat the mixture with a mixer. Foam will form during operation, it should be removed. Pour the product into a container with a lid and be sure to close it so that the alcohol does not evaporate.

You can use such a safe and effective composition immediately after cooling.

Usage natural ingredients, such as soda and mustard, for washing dishes will allow you to forget about harmful and expensive industrial compounds. Pots, plates, glasses and the rest of your kitchen utensils will shine clean. And it will be especially pleasant to know that the family is free from contact with chemical compounds.

Hello dear lovers healthy way life!

Yesterday I set up a "scientific experiment" in my kitchen - I used mustard powder for washing dishes. Recently I read in one article that this is an environmentally friendly method that was used by our ancestors even before the invention of any current harmful detergents.

Carried away, paying attention to proper nutrition and the body, I have long thought about the fact that harmful substances- they get inside not only with food or poisoned air. We constantly come into contact with detergents, shampoos, soaps, and the like.

I go to food. My husband, I hope, will soon stop poisoning himself and those around him. I try to be in traffic jams as rarely as possible. If I have to cook something, I definitely ventilate the kitchen. All in all, the time has come to find a healthy alternative to industrial poisons for cleaning, washing, washing, freshening, and so on.

Today I will tell you about a successful, in my opinion, alternative to any “Galam”, “Fairy” and similar crap. Environmentally friendly, cheap and efficient. Checked on own kitchen!

Mustard powder and sponge prepared for dishwashing

Thanks to the kind person who posted in social network post about the use of dry mustard for washing dishes! After reading the article, I rummaged through the contents of kitchen cabinets and found a long-forgotten bag. I bought it for a long time, but I remember that it cost a mere penny.

She poured some powder into a bowl, took a regular sponge and began to wash the dishes.

The article wrote that the only thing in which mustard powder loses to dishwashing detergents is work only in warm water... It will not dissolve fat in cold water. So I used warm water.

I want to clarify that the water was exactly warm, not hot. In order to save energy, our boiler is set to the very minimum. Nevertheless, mustard powder showed its best side!

Plate lightly grated with mustard powder

I alternately rubbed them lightly on plates, forks, spoons, knives, a saucepan, cutting board, a frying pan, a greasy pan from the baked shank (there were guests the day before), and then rinsed with water. Everything was washed, and without difficulty.

The sensation of touching hands to dishes rubbed with mustard powder was pleasant. It is so very finely dispersed, delicate. But at the same time it well wipes off stuck or burnt food pieces.

Plate washed with mustard powder

The result of the experiment:

  • perfectly washed dishes,
  • low powder consumption,
  • soft hands (and worked without gloves),
  • lack of contact with household chemicals.
  • Yes, and one more thing - a minimum of water was spent on the whole procedure. This is important for me, since we live in a private house and instead of a city sewer, we have - cesspool... It fills up quickly and it is expensive to call a flusher. In this case, when washing dishes, there is no foam that would have to be washed off for a long time. And there is no fear of harmful substances, because of which it would be necessary to rinse several times. Rinsing is faster than modern dishwashing detergents.

As a result, the bottle with "Gala" migrated under the sink (into the storeroom), and the bowl with mustard powder "registered" in its place.

Try it at home. I think you will like it.

Next I want to experiment with replacing toothpaste with herbal powder and / or gray clay. Or is there some other clay used? In short, it will be necessary to study. Somehow, our ancestors brushed their teeth ... 🙂

Mustard instead of regular dishwashing liquid

How do you wash the dishes? I am mustard. And now I will tell you about the advantages of why washing dishes with mustard is much better than traditional dishwashing detergents. Not so long ago, in Russia, they used this method of washing dishes, forgotten in our time.

Mustard can be used to wash fat from dishes. It is absolutely safe for health, unlike detergents, the remains of which remain on the dishes. Chemical detergents are not harmless things. They don't go anywhere, they merge into the ground and go into groundwater... And we are deprived of fresh drinking water ...

You can buy mustard powder at the market or in the store, sprinkle on a plate (on greasy places), sprinkle water (a few drops), spread the powder, rinse. At the same time, the resulting water not only does not harm the Earth and your health, but can also be used as fertilizer and as a remedy for plant pests.

Mustard powder is used as an excellent environmentally friendly means for washing and cleaning dishes, removing greasy stains, washing wool and silk products.

It is also an excellent means of killing garden pests. Mustard powder has bactericidal properties, it acts as a disinfectant on pathogens of some plant diseases.

Previously, mustard powder was used for washing dishes in canteens. What made you accept chemical innovations? Fashion? Unshakable faith in scientific and technological progress?

Many "novelties of our time" can be replaced with natural substances that are more useful and safe for all living things.

So, let's begin.

1) First. Security.

Traditional dishwashing detergents are unnatural for human nature.

Everyone understands this, I hope. Read the composition of any detergent, then read the specifics of each component parts, and you will be horrified how dangerous they are for human health.

That is why today there are so many allergic diseases in many people.

Mustard is a natural substance, harmless, in other words, it is a natural dishwashing detergent. This means that the risk of allergic reactions in humans is negligible. If you have eaten mustard at least once in your life (with dumplings, with jellied meat or with other dishes), then you will not have any allergies.

And as for the children ...

If you have a child, you probably want him to be healthy so that he does not have allergies. And you start looking in stores for a suitable detergent for washing baby dishes.

But remember - no chemistry is good for a child. Only natural, natural substances will not cause painful conditions in him.

And mustard powder is a real alternative to any chemistry in case you want to find a detergent for washing children's dishes.

2) Second. Saving water.

Traditional detergents must be rinsed off huge amount water - at least 50 liters of cold water per plate. Only after such rinsing, according to experts, it is possible to achieve complete removal of traces of chemical detergent from the dishes. Now count the number of dishes you wash in the kitchen every day and find out how much you have to pay for water to be healthy.

The mustard rinses off quickly. And even if there are microscopic traces of it on the dishes, there will be no harm to the body (you eat it, so do not be afraid for its remnants on the dishes).

3) Third, efficiency.

Some marketers claim that only in-store detergents can provide the best cleanliness for your dishes, and various home dishwashing detergents are ineffective.

For many decades, mustard was used in Soviet public catering specifically for washing dishes, this is real folk remedy for dish washing. My grandmother worked as a dishwasher in a canteen in the 70s. And they had mustard powder in special jars, from where they poured it for washing dirty dishes.

So the efficiency of washing even greasy dishes with mustard powder is exactly the same as that of synthetic detergents.

4) Fourth. Cold water.

And here our mustard loses slightly. Synthetic detergents are effective even in cold water - they simply chemically break down fat molecules, very aggressively acting on them chemical composition... Imagine now how they can also aggressively affect the wall of the stomach or intestines if a person eats the remains of the product from the dishes.

But, you see, if hot water is constantly flowing in your tap, and the effectiveness of mustard and detergent is the same in it, then why poison your body with chemistry?

5) Fifth. Convenience.

Again, marketers are pushing the human psyche with the convenience of using dishwashing detergents. I pressed the jar, poured a drop and washed the dishes.

But with mustard it’s just as simple: pour in mustard, add a little water and wash the dishes.

Here's how I store mustard powder. I poured mustard powder into a jar of baby powder, only I made a little more holes in the lid than in the case of using the powder - this is so that the mustard powder spills out better.

Today, a rare housewife runs the kitchen without means for washing dishes, pots, pans, cutlery.

Only a few people think that these products are produced by the chemical industry.

Users forget that the human body also contains fat, which is necessary for the normal functioning of organs, so chemistry can be harmful to health.

Baking soda for washing dishes is an alternative to chemicals with detergent properties, an excellent home remedy that can be successfully used in public catering.

Expert opinion

Even in pure form Sodium bicarbonate perfectly cleans surfaces of all types of dirt, but many more effective recipes for cleaning kitchen utensils have been invented on the basis of NaHCO3.

Soda + mustard

  • Take 3 tbsp. l. sodium bicarbonate and 2 tbsp. l. dry mustard, dilute with boiling water.
  • Metal, glass or clay items are placed in a bowl with the prepared solution for 15-20 minutes.

After that, the devices are washed with a sponge directly in the container. In 15 minutes, the boiling water will not have time to cool down, so you need to do it carefully so as not to harm your hands.

Then you should rinse the utensils and put them on a clean towel or napkin.

Soda + hydrogen peroxide

This is a well-known home remedy for the production of which it is important to maintain proportions.

  • Take 180 ml of boiling water and 1 tbsp. l. peroxide and sodium bicarbonate.

It is advisable to pour the mixture into convenient container and shake.

The agent is sprayed onto the contaminated area and left for 8 ± 2 minutes, then washed off.

The disadvantage of this recipe is that for each use, you will need to re-prepare the mixture, which quickly loses its detergent properties during storage.

You can use regular table vinegar instead of hydrogen peroxide.

Laundry soap + soda

At home, it's easy to make a paste based on soap and NaHCO3. You can take household or baby soap - these are the most environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic varieties.

  • In half a glass of grated soap, add 1/4 pack of baking soda and ten drops of essential orange or lemon oil.

This paste can be used to wash any household utensils, even if microparticles get into food, it will not bring any harm to the body.

Soda ash

What is the difference between this chemical from the usual, well-known to us, NaHCO3, which can be added to the dough?

The fact is that the calcified version of this substance is sodium carbonate, which should not be ingested.

Expert opinion

Carefully!

It has an even more pronounced alkaline reaction and is used for particularly dirty surfaces such as pans. It is strictly forbidden to taste this substance, you need to make sure that it does not get into the eyes or on the skin.

The paste is prepared from equal proportions of NaHCO3 and water, the agent is applied for three to five minutes. After that, the paste is washed off.

If soot is not removed, you can rub the area with a cloth coated with NaHCO3. When removing fat, the dishes are soaked in a solution, which is prepared according to the following recipe: 3 tbsp. l. NaHCO3 per liter of water.

Greasy utensils are soaked for five minutes, then rinsed in running water.

Dishwasher-safe soda ash

Sodium bicarbonate is used as an ingredient in many dishwasher detergents. Here are the most popular recipes.

A common soda solution is used to wipe the walls of the chamber, wash the basket for setting dishes.

To begin with, the machine is turned on for one cycle at idle. Then 1/2 cup of baking soda is poured into the apparatus (it is strictly forbidden to use soda ash or caustic soda).

Add 1.5 tbsp to 1 glass of NaHCO3. l. peroxide and ten drops essential oil... After the mixture has dried, it is poured into the apparatus. Place 1/2 cup vinegar in the top basket. After that, the machine is turned on to idle.

This recipe allows you to get rid of plaque in the apparatus.

Baking soda can be added to the baby washing powder, which lacks many harmful substances.

It is enough to mix equal proportions of NaHCO3 and powder; for one wash, 25 grams of the mixture is enough.

Instead of the usual soda version, you can use a more powerful soda ash, which is also mixed with baby washing powder.

This mixture is especially suitable for washing pans or pots, which are often heavily soiled.

Dishwashing liquid with baking soda

  1. A piece of laundry or baby soap is rubbed into half a liter of water, 1/2 tbsp is poured. cold pure water.
  2. The mixture is placed in a water bath and brought to a boil.
  3. A little more water is gradually added so that the volume remains about half a liter.
  4. The mixture is kept on fire until the soap is completely dissolved.
  5. The mixture cools down, a tablespoon of vodka and four times more glycerin are poured into it.
  6. The product is mixed, the foam is discarded, and the remainder is poured into the bottle.

This liquid removes fat from utensils, but does not dry out the skin on the hands.

Baking soda for washing dishes

If the utensil is heavily smoked, there is a lot of fat on it, then it is advantageous to make a product from 4 tbsp. l. baking soda and peroxide.

The mixture is applied for 8-10 minutes, after which it is easily washed off along with the soot.

Soda solution for washing dishes in passenger cars

Sodium bicarbonate is officially used in rail transport.

The Service Manual for Guides details how to use NaHCO3 to clean kitchen utensils. The recipe is as follows: 5 g of a calcined (!) Product is dissolved in a liter plain water.

The solution is used to wash glasses.

Soda + glue

An excellent detergent for cleaning cast-iron pans and other dishes from burning - for stationery or silicate glue and NaHCO3.

  1. Take half a glass of each ingredient and stir in hot water.
  2. The pan is completely immersed in the composition and kept in it for at least two to five hours.
  3. Periodically, it is useful to check the hardness of the carbon with a knife.
  4. When it starts to separate from the cast iron, you can clean the utensils with a scraper or knife.
  5. To speed up the process, the mixture, along with the dishes immersed in it, can be boiled, gradually adding water to it, which boils away.

How to boil soda ash dishes

You can clean the stainless steel elements with a saturated soda solution, which is filled with water and boiled.

For this recipe, it is better to use not food, but calcined powder (although the first option is also acceptable, but less effective).

After cooling, the devices can be easily washed with a regular sponge. Be sure to rinse your forks and spoons thoroughly.

Boiling dishes with soda ash and glue

  1. Utensils that need to be cleaned are folded into a voluminous metal container.
  2. The dishes are poured until completely immersed in water, 500 g of NaHCO3 and two or even three bottles of glue are poured there.
  3. If you need to strengthen the recipe, you can adjust the bar of laundry soap.
  4. After boiling, the bowl is removed from the heat, the utensils are left to sour.

If the contamination is small, it is enough to wait half an hour, while for more severe contamination it will take at least 3 hours.

At the end of the process, the dishes are washed, scale, grease and soot are washed off.

Boil a dish with soda ash and vinegar

Boiling pots and pans can be carried out with the simultaneous use of a glass of sodium bicarbonate and a tablespoon of 9% vinegar, which are dissolved in 30 liters of water.

The mixture is boiled until dissolved, then the utensils are put there and boiled for 30 minutes.

After turning off the stove, you should wait until the water has cooled down, and only then take out the dishes.

Dish paste: soda, soap, mustard

It is easy to prepare a long-lasting product at home.

  1. Pour 300 ml of boiling water over 25 g of grated laundry soap.
  2. Wait until the soap dissolves and the water cools down.
  3. After that, add 1.5 cups of dry mustard and NaHCO3.
  4. At the end, 2 tbsp is added. tablespoons of ammonia.
  5. Wait for the paste to thicken.
