Sooner or later, everyone has cardboard boxes on the balcony, in the closet or in the country.

Not all of these boxes are worth throwing away, as many interesting and even useful crafts can be made from them.

One of these crafts - play house for kids.

Such a house can be built and decorated with children, who will be very interested in learning something new.

Folding cardboard house

1. Start with an empty box. Turn it on its side so that the exposed portion is perpendicular to the floor.

2. Cut off the top of the box and save it - later this will serve as half of the roof.

3. Use wide tape to secure some parts of the box.

4. From the other cardboard, cut a piece that will be the second half of the roof.

5. Use duct tape to glue the roof halves together.

6. Connect the roof and the house, and tape them together.

7. Make the house foldable. Place the house face down and cut the back and bottom of the house in the middle. Also cut the area where the bottom and back of the house meet.

8. Add tape where you made the cuts. Make sure the bottom and back of the house fold down into the right side... Tape up any areas you think are loose.

DIY cardboard house with a pipe and a door

You will need:

Hot glue with glue gun

Stationery knife

Scissors

Several cardboard boxes.

A large box will be the main part of the house, and small boxes will be needed for such trifles as a pipe and window frames.

1. Cut off the pieces of the large box that form its lid - these will be used to create the roof.

2. Turn the box upside down. Cut out the door by making a large "L" cut.

3. Cut out the squares for the windows using a utility knife.

4. Glue the 2 pieces from the cut box lid. Repeat with the other two parts of the lid. You will end up with 2 halves that you can use to make the roof of your house.

5. For windows, you can cut 2 wide cardboard strips and glue them to the window. You can also cut some strips to create a window frame.

6. To glue the roof to the house, you must first connect the roof halves using small L-shaped cardboard pieces. Next, use the same details to glue the roof to the house.

7. Now we make a small roof. You will need a sheet of cardboard suitable size... Divide it in half (or just bend it) and glue it to the house in the same way as a large roof, i.e. L-shaped details.

8. You can make a window in the door and, if you wish, glue a cardboard window frame to it.

9. Optional : If you want to make a pipe for a house, you will need a small box or 4 cardboard pieces of the same size that you need to glue into a small box.

10. Mark on the small box where you want to cut off so that the pipe lies flat on the roof of the house. To make it easier to do this, lean the box against the roof exactly from the side and draw lines with a pencil. When you glue the pipe to the roof, you can cover it with a cardboard lid and glue the cardboard toilet paper cylinder.

11. Optional: can add a handle to the door. Use any old handle and glue it to the door. You can also make a handle out of cardboard.

How to make a house out of cardboard with your own hands

You will need:

Large cardboard box

Wide tape (adhesive tape)

Stationery or construction knife

Metal ruler (to make even cuts)

Black marker

Double-sided tape (if necessary)

Curtain fabric (if needed).

1. Disassemble the box and turn it inside out so that the house is brown and solid later, and all the drawings on the boxes are hidden.

2. To make the house larger, those parts that form the box lid on one side must be lifted and secured in an upright position with adhesive tape (adhesive tape). Place the box on its side so that on one side there is an "entrance" to the house.

3. Optional: to make a diagonal roof of the house, use a clerical (or construction) knife to cut diagonally (a small corner) the upper part of the future house (the part that is now at the top, after you turned the box over).

Cut the triangular pieces from a cut piece of cardboard and tape the roof back to the house with tape.

4. Cut the lower part of the house (the floor opposite the roof), fasten it with tape if necessary, and attach it to the open part of the box ("entrance", which was obtained in step 2).

5. Now it's time to cut out windows and doors in a cardboard house with a clerical knife.

If you want, you can draw window frames, bricks and other details with a marker. You can also cut a small handle in the door (semi-oval on the edge of the door).

Children's crafts not only delight the eye with brightness and beauty, the process of their creation is a special pleasure for a child, because it is so nice to give an original little thing to someone close to you! And when my mother joins the creativity, the matter is doubly funnier. If your kid has already learned how to work with scissors, invite him to make a "real" house out of paper together: templates for printing, step-by-step instruction and interesting ideas in our article.

Working with templates

To make a paper house, use ready-made templates for printing: it is much easier than drawing required sizes manually. If possible, print a colored template for the first time, it is easier to assemble:

  1. Print the model of the house you like;
  2. Carefully cut out the details (or the entire diagram);
  3. Bend the paper along the marked lines using a ruler;
  4. Apply glue to the joints of the elements with a small brush, press them to glue.

Your first paper house is ready. Now you can complicate the task by choosing a black and white template for printing. Prepare brushes, paints, sheets of cardboard or Whatman paper in advance. For painting a paper house by texture, gouache or acrylic is best suited.

So let's get started:

In general, it is better to think over the design in advance, based on the purpose of the house. If it becomes a decoration under the Christmas tree, use traditional New Year's colors - red with gold, blue with silver, white. When planning to create an entire city out of paper, choose more restrained shades.

Practice shows that no matter how simple the template for printing, there is always a risk of ruining the craft. Little tricks will help you avoid incidents when creating a paper house:

  • Not all children preschool age able to handle cutting small parts from thick paper - in best case the edge of the element will turn out to be uneven, in the worst case, you will have to re-print the template, and the child's mood will be ruined. Therefore, cut the workpiece yourself;
  • When making fold lines, do not forget about doors and shutters on windows, they must be bent in advance, before gluing. When the craft is completely assembled, it is difficult to bend these parts evenly, and even more so to carefully cut through;
  • Using paper with a pattern (wallpaper) for the base, it is important to make sure that after gluing on all parts of the house, the pattern will be on the wrong side;
  • The last element in assembling a paper house is always the roof; after gluing it, it is almost impossible to fix flaws;
  • Sometimes when the glue dries, the edges of the paper separate. The fault is one of two things: there was not enough glue or it is necessary to press the template parts better. For better fixation, connect the elements with paper clips and leave them until the adhesive is completely dry.

House of paper - application ideas

With a little imagination, you can expand the scope of paper houses. Here are three popular simple ideas:

Surely your kid already has a lot of ideas for using and decorating paper houses: let our printable templates help in realizing his creative desires.

In childhood, everything seems a little different and big, beautiful, modern house doesn't seem cozy. The kid will appreciate any decorations hung in the children's room, but not as much as you would like. It's all about the usual desire to have your own island: a small house where a child can hide from "big" problems, play with dolls or read a book. To provide the little man with the desired home, we suggest making a cardboard house for children with your own hands. The templates for such a house are too large to publish, so we will offer miniature copies of the orphanages.

Tools and materials

What kind of cardboard house can we talk about if you have not prepared tools and expendable materials ? Of course not about any. So stock up on the following subjects:

  • Large cardboard box from household appliances... Used packaging from a refrigerator, washing or dishwasher, several plasma TVs, wardrobes.
  • Stationery knife
  • Tape measure and large ruler or rail (draw straight lines)
  • Old wallpaper or Whatman paper if you plan to custom design
  • Wallpaper glue
  • Hot glue and glue gun for parts
  • Plain and double-sided tape
  • Pencil or marker
  • Roof blanket
  • A carrier and a light bulb to guide the light in the house
  • Roof rafters made of plastic tubes sheathed with foam rubber

If everything is ready, we take the baby in an armful, good mood and go on a good journey - to chic cardboard house for kids!

The process of creating a house from cardboard

First of all, decide with the size of the house: it is optimal if the walls are at least 1–1.5 meters. This will make the child feel comfortable inside. In the presence of a ready-made box of a given size, preparation for construction will be noticeably reduced. If there is no large box, connect together equal the height of the pieces of cardboard using adhesive tape and create the desired area of the future mansion.

Cut in the roof round hole 6-10 cm in diameter, pass the light bulb connected to the carrier through it. Secure it with wire to the ceiling. It is advisable that the light bulb is not installed in the center, so the child will not touch it with his head and avoid injury. Make it a rule every day check the state of the lamp in order to protect the child from possible malfunctions.

Stick on the walls of the house old wallpaper or whatman paper. It is better to glue the wallpaper on special glue, and whatman paper on ordinary PVA. It is not recommended to glue thick paper on double-sided tape, as it can come off at the most inopportune moment. If you have decorated the walls of the house with Whatman paper, then the best idea for registration will be bricks drawn with marker or paint.

Arm yourself with a pencil and make markings for windows and doors:

  • If you are planning closing door, measure 70–90 cm from the floor. Further from the top point, draw a perpendicular straight line 40-50 cm to the right or left. Cut the door along two lines, bend it at the end point of the horizontal line. To provide your child with intimacy, attach a wire hook to the door. Be sure to put the tip on it so that the baby does not get scratched.
  • Another door option is cutting a monolithic rectangle from a cardboard wall. In this case, the door will turn out to be completely through. So that the child can retire, offer to arrange door light blanket.

Cut the window out in a single square of cardboard, or make 4 small squares to simulate window sections. Do not forget about the decor: stock up on curtains for new apartment baby. It is better if you attach them yourself using double-sided tape or hang the fabric on a wire stretched along the windows.

On this, the house can be considered complete, although, perhaps, there is one more detail left: hang a sign with the house number and the name of the street. This is another surprise for the kid, because this is how he can live at any address: why not settle, for example, on Baker Street?
