Once, enjoying the beauty of the surrounding world, the girl noticed a stately flower - loosestrife. After some thought, she wrote a short poem about this plant. In it, the girl compared the flower with the royal symbol of power - the scepter and called him the ruler of the state of flowers. This is exactly how this exquisite flower appears before us.

Verbeinik belongs to the genus of perennial plants belonging to the Primroses family. Some of its representatives live for one or two seasons. The plant got its name because of the shape of the leaves, which are very similar to pussy willow leaves (this is how all types of willow trees were called in ancient times). According to another version, the loosestrife got its name in memory of the outstanding commander of Alexander the Great - Lysimachus. For a long time it was believed that it was he who discovered this majestic plant. So it really or not, but the loosestrife really resembles a colorful royal scepter.

External description of a stately flower

In the natural environment, there are more than a hundred different types of this plant. Most of them grow in the Northern Hemisphere, although some species have been found in the south of the American continent and in Africa. More than 70 varieties of the stately flower grow in China. They are collected in inflorescences that resemble an ear or flower brushes. On some specimens there are single buds or several buds in deciduous axils.
Verbeynik refers to creeping herbaceous plants with erect shoots. From the side it looks like a miniature flowering shrub.

Features of planting and proper care

It is possible to plant and propagate a stately flower in a summer cottage by sowing seeds and in a vegetative way. The planting of the loosestrife shown in the photo and caring for it require execution simple rules... First of all, it is important to choose a suitable location. Almost all plant varieties love penumbra or shaded areas of the garden.

The purple loosestrife thrives well in open areas, so this fact should be taken into account when planting a flower.

The next stage is fertile, loose soil. It can be fertilized with compost or humus. It is desirable that it be sufficiently saturated with moisture. Suitable option if next to groundwater... Some types of loosestrife are planted directly in the water, where they thrive luxuriantly.

Leaving and planting loosestrife in open ground produced in the usual way. First, dig a small hole. Then, the roots of the plant are carefully placed in it and covered with earth. The topsoil is compacted and watered abundantly.

So that the plants get enough light, air and nutrients from the soil, the distance between them should be at least 50 cm.

When a plant takes root well in the front garden, it lets out a large number of shoots.
After some time, the loosestrife grows and occupies almost the entire area of the site. Therefore, it must be transplanted on time. Although it can freely grow in one place for a whole decade, the flower should be planted in the second year. A good time for this is early spring or late autumn.

You can also plant a loosestrife with seeds. If sowing is carried out in the warm season, they must first be held in the cold for 2 months. The collected seeds are placed in the refrigerator, where vegetables are stored for a specified period. After that, they are sown. During autumn planting, the seeds do not need preliminary cold exposure. Winter frosts will do this naturally. And in the spring, friendly young shoots will appear from the soil.

Planting loosestrife by sowing seeds can also be done indoors. On the moistened surface of the soil, consisting of and sand, sow planting material... The boxes are covered with glass or foil, after which they are placed in a bright room. The optimum temperature should be at least 15 degrees. After 2 weeks, green shoots will appear on the surface of the soil. After another week or two, they are dived into separate pots, where they gain strength. After that, the flowers are planted in the front garden.

So that the plants gradually get used to outside temperature, the room must be regularly ventilated. Thanks to this, young seedlings are hardened and feel great after planting in open ground.

The loosestrife can be propagated by the method of dividing the bush. The plant extracted from the soil is divided into several parts. The main thing is that each of them has developed roots. Such plants will bloom next season.

The photo of the coin loosestrife, the care and planting of which is carried out by dividing the cuttings, causes an unprecedented delight. The process begins by placing the cuttings in containers of water. Being in the liquid, they release the roots. After that, they are planted in a shady place. suburban area into moist soil. Over time, the bushes will bloom to the delight of the household.

Often for decoration, loosestrife is an irreplaceable plant. It is used in the formation of flower gardens, as a background plant. They are used to decorate the coastal areas of domestic water bodies and borders. Verbeinik fits perfectly into the alpine slide, making it an original creation of human hands. Sometimes the plant is simply planted separately. standing flower to draw attention to the main landscape design. Creeping varieties are used for hanging pots and tall flower beds.

Popular types of proud flower

For some summer residents, the proud "master of the flower state" - loosestrife, is one of the favorites of landscape design. The plant is especially prized for its abundance different varieties that grow freely on the territory of Russia. Looking closely at the stately flower, you can notice many forms and shades that are inherent in different varieties.

Common loafers

This pretty plant has a tall, straight stem. It is not covered with bark and does not have any ramifications. From the horizontal curly rhizome, upright erect shoots rise up in a huge amount. Most often, flowers reach 50 cm, and some giants grow up to a meter in height. Whorled foliage grows all over the stem of the common loosestrife from top to bottom. It comes in a narrow shape with pointed tips. The lower leaves are colored light green, the upper ones are more saturated with greenery. Some specimens are distinguished by the scarlet shade of the leaves.

At the very top of the erect stem are paniculate inflorescences. Each of them is decorated with pretty flowers located close to each other. The buds are composed of five separate delicate petals that surround a corolla with an ovary and stamens. As a rule, the inflorescences are colored yellow, although orange, burgundy and snow-white options... The plant blooms in summer, after which balls appear instead of buds with big amount seeds.

Common weasel has medicinal properties... Tinctures or decoctions from it are used as a tonic and anti-inflammatory agent. It is often used as an astringent and choleretic natural substance.

Loose leaf (coin)

The plant belongs to the perennial herb family. It has creeping horizontal stems about 80 cm long. Shoots of the monet's loosestrife are erect, slightly branched. Nodules appear on them, on which small roots grow. Thanks to them, the plant successfully grows throughout the territory. Loves fertile soil and shady places. In nature, it occurs in the shade of low shrubs, on wet meadows or on the outskirts of swampy areas.

The leaves of the monetarine loosestrife are opposite, slightly rounded. Their edges are solid, green in color. The buds grow in the axils of the leaf plate. They usually large size and single. The color is golden yellow, the calyx is funnel-shaped, the petals do not connect to each other. The flowering period is mid-summer.

Loose weasel loves shaded areas of the garden and fertile soil. By fulfilling only these two requirements, you can already achieve success in growing this plant.

Verbeynik point

The flower of this variety is distinguished by a brown rhizome, which has several branches. Shoots extend from them underground. Thanks to this, the plant grows wonderfully over the territory of the front garden.

The erect stem of the spotted loosestrife has a delicate edge. Unlike other species, there are several branches on the shoots. Along each of them are wide lanceolate leaves, lemon or yellow buds are placed in a large number along a dense stem.

Lily of the valley

The name of the plant hints that it looks like lilies of the valley. And indeed it is. The lily of the valley has a stable dense stem, on which successive leaves are located from top to bottom. From below they are slightly bluish, and from above they are dotted with small dots. During flowering, the plant dresses in spike-shaped buds, consisting of many small flowers. They are snow-white and sit at the very top of the stem. The flower grows up to 45 cm and fits beautifully into any landscape design.

Verbeynik cage

This variety of loosestrife is often called lily of the valley, for the similarity of its underground rhizome to it. It has the same pinkish-white color, but is slightly thicker than the lily of the valley. The cage-shaped loosestrife has an erect stem (about 20 cm in height), covered with foliage on all sides. The inflorescence is collected in a dense ear, filled with many white buds. It blooms in the middle of summer and pleases the eye for 3 weeks.

Verbeinik kletrodes

This type of plant is also referred to as lily of the valley varieties of loosestrife. The flower grows to a height of 80 cm. On its tall, dense shoots, rounded, opposite leaves grow. The loosestrife bloom blooms with snow-white spike-shaped buds. From a distance it resembles the original green bushes in the white dress of the bride. Applied for decoration personal plot: planted as living curbs on, in alpine slides and along the shores of artificial pools.

Purple loosestrife (ciliated)

This perennial plant forms miniature bushes with erect stems. All of them are covered with smooth lanceolate leaves of a wine-red color. Purple loosestrife is famous for its original inflorescences, which are located at the tops of slender shoots. The buds are collected in small bouquets that shine with a lemon color in the sun. The flower loves open light areas with moist fertile soil.

Often, ciliated loosestrife grows up to 45 cm in height, which gives it a majestic appearance. The plant begins to bloom at the end of August and can last until mid-September. It is not afraid of harsh winters, since it is considered a frost-resistant variety. In its natural environment, it occurs in wet meadows near water bodies.

I would especially like to highlight the original ciliate variety - the firecracker loosestrife. He is able to grow up to a meter in height, which looks pretty cute against the background of other greenery. Erect shoots are alternately covered with lanceolate leaves pointed at the tips. Inflorescences appear in the axils of the leaf plates at the apex of the shoot. The bell buds are bright yellow and bloom in early autumn. Bloom until October. Frost resistant. Feel comfortable in open areas backyard territory garden.

Verbeynik beaujolais

This delightful perennial grows up to a meter in height and is distinguished by unusual inflorescences. They are dark red in color and are collected in dense ears. Beaujolais loosestrife has silvery-green lanceolate leaves slightly corrugated along the edges. They pair wonderfully with the dark buds that appear during flowering. The plant prefers fertile soils, which retain moisture for a long time. They are widely used to decorate summer cottages. They are planted to mark the territory instead of curbs.

Verbeinik Alexander

The majestic herbaceous perennial grows from 40 to 50 cm in height. On its erect stems are sessile broadly lanceolate leaves. On along the entire shoot, in the middle of summer, many delicate flowers appear. They are collected in small bouquets and shine brightly with a lemon color against the background of the dense greenery of the plant. Verbeinik Alexander feels luxurious on fertile land where there is a lot of air and light. He is especially comfortable in combined plantings of flowers near water bodies.
Looseweed is often used to create mixborders that bloom continuously until late autumn. It is in such an environment that he looks like the lord of the kingdom of flowers.

Before designing a flower garden, one should take into account the property of this variety to grow rapidly. Otherwise, the loosestrife will displace weak plants, thereby disrupting the overall harmony of the flower bed.

No chance for pests

It is not for nothing that the verbeinik is called the ruler of the flower state, because the plant almost never gets sick. It surrenders only to living pests: aphids and weevils. You can cope with the invasion of such ill-wishers as aphids using special preparations.
Weevils give themselves away with diseased leaves. If you find eaten specimens, it is advisable to immediately start collecting them. Lost time will lead to the appearance of beetle larvae, which imperceptibly undermine the healthy plant.

Giving an objective assessment of the stately flower, it can be noted that it does not require special care. It easily takes root in new territory. Looks pretty nice in landscape design... Differs in many useful properties that strengthen our health. Among them are astringent, tonic and choleretic effect. Grow such a flower on suburban area brings only positive emotions. It might be worth trying and enjoying its floral majesty.

Video about planting perennial loosestrife

Loose grass, also known as snake root, wound or leech grass, is a creeping perennial herb. There are about a hundred varieties of this plant, which are generally similar, but have significant differences. Some loosestrife grow upright, others spread almost on the ground. The plant blooms in mid-summer with golden flowers, bright yellow color with dark streaks.

Of all the species, the most popular in amateur breeding has become the coin loosestrife. It is very hygrophilous and prefers to grow near water bodies, in humid lowlands and among artisanal thickets. The plant is very resistant to trampling and unpretentious in care, therefore it is often used for planting flowering lawns, which remain bright throughout the summer, until the onset of autumn.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, the monofilament loosestrife is a rather valuable plant from a medical point of view. It contains a large amount of saponins, tannins, silicic acid and glycoside enzymes, which are widely used in pharmacology, both in folk and classical.

Care

As already mentioned, the loosestrife loves a lot of moisture, and in addition, the soil must have a sufficient amount nutrients... Without regular feeding, the plant depletes the soil very quickly and weakens. With regard to lighting, unlike most types of loosestrife, which prefer to grow in partial shade, the monotonous loosestrip is less whimsical. It develops normally both in the shade and in the open sun, the main thing is that it always has access to moisture.

The plant can be planted in the garden, in open areas and in damp, under the crowns large trees... True, in the latter case, the soils are, as a rule, rather poor, therefore, for successful cultivation need feeding.

A loosestrife planted near a pond, pool, or even near a well will also feel good. In such conditions, the plant grows very quickly and practically does not require maintenance, however, if it is not thinned out in time, it can take up all the free space, and so that it will be difficult to clean it later.

Landing rules

Planting a crop is not difficult, since the plant takes root very easily and quickly. It is enough to prepare the hole, fertilize it with any organic matter, minerals and plant a seedling, after which the plant begins to develop rapidly. And already in the third year, a large bush will grow, which will give many branches, ready for independent life.

The verbeinik can live in one place for up to 10 years, and annually gives profuse flowering, therefore, he does not need care in the form of a regular transplant. The only thing that should be done is to plant branches from the mother bush, otherwise you will soon get a solid grass carpet that can drown out other vegetation. Therefore, if this is not included in your plans, do not be lazy to plant the layers. This should be done in early spring, before the leaves appear or in late autumn.

Watering and feeding mode

If you plant a monkey loosestrife in the right place where there is a lot of natural moisture, often you will not have to water it. This is done only in especially sultry summer days when there is no rain for a long period and the soil dries up. If the plant is planted in an open, sunny area, you will have to make sure that it is constantly moist. If watering is necessary, this must be done either in the morning or in the evening when the sun goes down, otherwise there is a possibility sunburn... Water droplets left on foliage after watering work like lenses, amplifying the rays and causing burns.

Fertilizing the loosestrife during its active growing season is only worthwhile when absolutely necessary - when growth slows down greatly, and flowering becomes rare and pale. This should be done carefully and little by little, but in late autumn, before wintering, you need some care - fertilization with humus, minerals and loosening the soil around the bush. Before wintering, you also need to cut off all the branches of the plant and lightly mulch the soil with peat.

Reproduction

Monet loam is capable of both seed and vegetative propagation - by division, cuttings and root shoots. Most often, one of the vegetative methods is used - they are simpler, moreover, a new plant develops faster and begins to bloom, while with seed reproduction, flowering will have to wait 2, or even 3 years.

Reproduction by seeds. The seeds can be planted in late fall or early spring. In the latter case, for successful germination, they must be stratified. To do this, they are mixed with wet sand and kept in a cellar or refrigerator for two months - optimum temperature+ 5 ° C. After such treatment, seeds sown in a warm spring soil, will begin to actively develop and sprout. If the seeds are planted in the fall, stratification takes place in a natural, natural way.

When planting in open ground, caring for seedlings consists in maintaining moisture, and by the time the seedlings are strong enough, make a dive and the most healthy plants plant on the site.

If the seeds are germinated indoors, a greenhouse is arranged over the nurseries, covering them with polyethylene and kept at a temperature of about 15 ° C. Somewhere on the 10th day, seedlings will appear, after which they carry out standard care - watering, picking, hardening, and when they get stronger, it will be possible to plant them in open ground.

Reproduction by division. As a rule, this procedure is carried out in the spring or autumn, simultaneously with the clearing of the bush. You need to dig up the mother bush, carefully separate the root processes from it and transplant each of them to a new place. There are no subtleties here, the only thing you need to watch out for is that on each such process there are healthy and sufficiently developed roots and young shoots.

Such delenki take root very well in a new place and with minimal maintenance - watering, lighting and a little feeding, the plant blooms the next year.

Propagation by cuttings. Cuttings are harvested when pruning a bush - in spring or autumn. Preference is given to the apical sections of the stems, the most developed and healthy. They are cut off as usual - at the top, at a right angle, at the bottom obliquely, about 15 - 20 centimeters long. You need to make sure that each of them has several points of growth. Cuttings are rooted in an aqueous nutrient solution, and after the formation of roots, they are planted in nurseries, if it is autumn or directly into the ground, in spring. It is very important, at first, to carefully monitor the humidity regime and to protect the sprouts from direct sun rays... It is necessary to provide a bright, but diffused light.

Healing properties

The substances that the plant is rich in have hemostatic, analgesic, astringent properties and a number of others. Some of them are used in classical pharmacology, but as for folk medicine, diarrhea, internal hemorrhages, stomatitis, eczema, thrush and many other ailments are treated in it, on the basis of preparations from loosestrife.

Widespread use, loosestrife found in homeopathy. The reason for this is the rich content of rutin in the plant, a variety of carbohydrates, acids, including ascorbic and silicic. Fresh plants are also used, for example, flowers are used when it is necessary to cope with non-healing abscesses, leaves are applied to wounds for faster healing, and the roots have analgesic and at the same time healing properties.

Like most medicinal plants, the monet loosestrife has a number of contraindications. It is undesirable to use funds from it for people suffering from varicose veins and vein thrombosis, with increased blood pressure and poor blood clotting. Very carefully, it should be used to treat young children.

In nature, there are 110 species of loosestrife, most of which live in China. The plant got its name from the leaves, which are shaped like pussy willow leaves (in most species), the only exception is monose loosestrife (lat.Lysimachia Nummularia) with its rounded leaves. In culture, 9 main types of loosestrife are grown.

The most popular is the mint tea, it is also known as meadow tea or loosestrife mint aurea. This plant belongs to perennials from the primrose family. It has creeping 4-sided stems 40-50 cm long, maximum up to 80 cm and up to 10 cm high.It grows in Europe, the Caucasus, Siberia and throughout North America... Plant chooses wet places- these are the banks of reservoirs, swamps, damp places, ravines and shaded meadows. Creeping and weakly branching shoots take root on their own.

Light green leaves resemble a coin in shape, hence the name of the plant. Leaves sit opposite in pairs on short petioles. Yellow small flowers solitary, 5-lobed, sitting in leaf axils. In cultivated species, the monetary loosestrife blooms for up to 25 days., the beginning of flowering - the last decade of June. In the natural environment, the loosestrife aurea blooms at the end of May and fades only in mid-September. This plant is prized for its ability to form a dense and dense green carpet, moreover, on any planes. The plant is incredibly hardy, unpretentious, frost-hardy and very beautiful. Therefore, it is loved by landscape designers in mid-latitudes.

The plant feels great in shady damp areas, near water and under trees, but does not like clay soils... However, it grows well in the sun, first of all it is spotted loosestrife (ordinary). Without a transplant, the perennial feels great for more than 10 years. Moreover, absolutely does not need any additional feeding, or special pest control, does not get sick... The only enemy of the bushes is different, but she is also unable to harm him too much. Although sometimes the plant suffers from weevil larvae, which gnaw at the roots. Also, the bushes are not afraid of scythe and trampling.

Preparing for landing

If you plan to plant the loosestrife on poor soil, it will not hurt to feed it with a complex of mineral fertilizers. The main thing is very moist soil. And the fertility of the soil does not matter. Some hobbyists plant the loosestrife aurea directly into the water, up to 10 cm deep. A big lover of dampness, it grows well even in conditions of dense shade, where sunlight does not reach at all. Basic landing rules:

  • planting time is early spring and late autumn;
  • lack of young shoots during planting;
  • ensure good drainage of the soil by adding under upper layer crushed stone;
  • exclude clay soils.

Within 3 years after planting, the bush can be propagated, so it will grow. It should be borne in mind that the monochromatic aurea has a powerful root system and grows very quickly, literally covering the entire area. And you may even have to curb the growth of the plantation.

Plant care

This ornamental groundcover does not require special attention, all he needs is shade and dampness. Planting and grooming outdoors requires a minimum of effort. Pruning has a very beneficial effect on the bush, it revives the loosestrife plant, activates growth and enhances flowering. Frosts are not terrible for plantations, so shelters are not needed for winter. But for the winter, it is advisable to dig up the soil around the bushes and mulch with humus.

Top dressing for the plant is of an episodic nature, since the plant grows well anywhere. Fertilizers can be applied only from May to June, 2 times a month.

How the plant is propagated

All of this family, and the loosestrife in particular, is propagated in the following ways:

  • by dividing the root;
  • cuttings;
  • sowing seeds.

Dividing a bush is the best propagation method, the simplest and most effective. In late autumn or early spring, you need to dig up an adult bush, divide the roots and plant. The bushes planted in the fall bloom the next year. This is how the lily of the valley, coin loosestrife and most species are propagated.

Seed propagation is laborious and time-consuming. Before sowing, the seeds must be hardened, i.e. Keep in the refrigerator for 2 months, then in early June, plant the prepared seeds in moist nutrient soil. This can be done outdoors or in seedling boxes. Plants grown from seeds bloom only in the 3rd, 4th year.

Many gardeners take advantage of the ability of the stems of these perennials to root on their own. It is enough to cut off the shoot, which has already sprouted, and plant it in the ground. Or you can cut off a bunch of long, strong shoots and put them in the water until the roots appear, and then plant them in the ground.

Medicinal use

The whole family is not recognized by official medicine, but popular among the people. There are many useful substances in the leaves and flowers of the plant. Tannins have a beneficial effect on nausea and diarrhea, a diuretic effect is expressed. For example, lily of the valley loosestrife is an excellent remedy for restoring the body after bleeding. A decoction of flowering herbs is used to treat gastritis and ulcers. Excellent choleretic - common loosestrife, purulent wounds are washed with infusion of herbs, hemorrhoids and rheumatism are treated, joint lesions in the form of arthritis, as well as bruises.

For colds and coughs, a tea rich in vitamins is brewed, for which spot loosestrife is excellent. But you should not give it to children when treating dry cough. A large amount of vitamin "C" allows you to attach the loosestrife plant to good immunostimulants.

Important! Verbeinik is contraindicated for people suffering from hypertension, and for certain blood diseases: thrombosis, varicose veins, sclerosis of the vessels of the extremities. Consult a doctor before use.

Herb tea it is done simply - for 1 glass of boiling water you need 2 teaspoons of dry raw materials, after a 5-minute infusion, the tea is filtered and drunk.

The infusion is done like this: 1 tablespoon of raw materials is poured with a glass of boiling water, covered, wrapped and kept for at least 2 hours. Strain and drink in 24 hours in 4 doses.

Choosing a landing site

Shady areas with moist, nutritious soil are better suited for growing moneta loosestrife. Best of all, he will feel in the shade or partial shade, under trees, on the banks of water bodies. But it grows well in sunny areas.

Monet loosestrife can grow in one place for more than 10 years. It is completely undemanding and unpretentious plant... It does not need additional feeding, is not affected by diseases and pests, and is resistant to trampling and mowing.

Verbeynik is undemanding to the composition of the soil, the main conditions for its cultivation, moist soil

If the soil is poor, infertile, then before planting it can be fed with a complex mineral fertilizer... But this is not necessary at all. Monet loam is undemanding to the composition and fertility of the soil. The main growing condition: highly moist, moist soil. Some gardeners plant the loosestrife directly in a decorative reservoir, to a depth of about 10 cm.

Planting moneta loosestrife

It is better to plant the loosestrife in shady places. It grows well even in dense shade, in the complete absence of sunlight. Planting can be done in early spring or late autumn.

Grown from seed or by dividing the roots. Already three years after planting, the loosestrife will grow well, and will give a lot of shoots suitable for reproduction. It must be borne in mind that it has a very powerful root system and grows rapidly, covering the entire surrounding area. Therefore, it is necessary to restrain the growth of the plant, periodically removing excess shoots.

Loose-leaf care

This plant requires virtually no maintenance. It is important to provide him with the constant presence of shade and abundant watering. Do not forget about the timely pruning of the loosestrife. This procedure rejuvenates the plant, promotes active growth and flowering. V winter shelter does not need, because it tolerates frost perfectly. With the onset of cold weather, the soil around the bush is dug up and mulched with compost or humus.

Reproduction methods

Monet loam is propagated by seeds, dividing roots and cuttings

The loosestrife is propagated by seeds, cuttings and division of roots.
