How to care for your laminate so that everyone is happy - features of wet and dry cleaning. Laminate care

Laminate is a popular laminate flooring. It is distinguished by its attractive appearance, practicality, resistance to deformation. However, despite the good durability of modern floor coverings, in order to extend the life of the laminate and preserve its aesthetics, it is necessary to follow the rules of home care and use only products that are safe for such a floor.

The main enemies of laminate are abrasion and water

The top film, formed by an acrylic resin with mineral inclusions, provides the coating with good wear resistance. The surface after varnishing acquires a glossy sheen or a pleasant matt finish. The main way to preserve the integrity and aesthetics of this layer is to protect it from the main household abrasive - sand. This is easy to do - you need to put a rubberized mat at the entrance to the room and clean it periodically.

Since a material with lower wear resistance indicators is usually chosen for residential premises than for public facilities, it is recommended to walk on a laminated board only in indoor shoes. To prevent scratches, it is recommended to place rubber or felt pads under the furniture legs. You can extend the service life of the coating by using paths or carpets laid in the highest traffic areas. Transparent rugs are placed under frequently moved chairs.

The second reason that can lead to early failure of budget-class laminate boards that are not intended for use in contact with water is contact with a large number water on the surface of the coating. When water penetrates into the seams between panels, it swells the main bearing layer of the coating - strips of wood shavings pressed with an adhesive. To prevent water from entering the intermediate layer, the panels are never fixed to the base adhesives water based.

How to properly care for a laminate floor in an apartment or private house?

The moisture resistance of the laminate does not depend on its class. All manufacturers produce laminate flooring with the same moisture resistance in classes 32-33, however, the 31st class laminate has a moisture resistance slightly lower than that of other classes, but still allows wet cleaning with a carefully wrung out cloth.

For laminate of classes 33 and above, dry cleaning is combined with wet cleaning, which is usually sufficient once a week.

For a floor made of 33 class panels, you can use a washing vacuum cleaner

Attention! Laminate flooring can be washed daily only if it belongs to the moisture resistant group.

Rules of conduct wet cleaning laminated floor:

  • The water must be clean, its temperature is 35-45 ° C. During cleaning, it is advisable to change the water frequently.
  • To combat stubborn dirt, it is recommended to use special means.
  • You can refresh the look of the coating and keep the shine by adding 9% vinegar (at the rate of 1 tablespoon to 5 liters of water) or lemon juice.
  • When wet cleaning, the cloth or sponge is squeezed out well to avoid waterlogging.

Convenient to use a power-spin mop

  • When cleaning by hand, flannel or microfiber rags are the most practical.
  • The panels are wiped along the longitudinal axis of the board with slight pressure, starting from the window and moving towards the door, which will allow you not to walk over the already washed areas.
  • At the end of cleaning, wipe the surface with a dry cloth.

Advice! Carpet the floor only after the surface is completely dry.

Features of caring for different types of laminate - glossy, matte, white

Material with a matte surface is more prone to collecting dirt than a glossy one, but it is easier to care for it, especially when using special sprays. If you take care of the matte laminate with a damp cloth, then after such cleaning it is necessary to wipe the surface with a dry cloth. If there are chamfers, you need to check if moisture remains in them.

The glossy surface is less prone to picking up dirt, but will leave marks and scratches on it. It is recommended to clean this floor frequently, since it is quite difficult to remove dirt on it. The cleaning process is also complicated by the fact that after all operations, the panels must be wiped with a dry cloth until a shine appears. The glossy floor does not like walking with bare feet.

The current needs many modern interiors white laminate, for which it is recommended to use special products and to rinse frequently with a rag.

Means for the care of the laminate in the apartment

Commercially available laminate flooring products successfully deal with all types of dirt. However, even with full compliance with the rules of the instructions attached to the composition, it is advisable to test it on an inconspicuous area of the floor during initial use.

Means for the care of laminated panels have different consistencies, differ in the method and conditions of use. Purchased products are often used to combat heavy pollution, and improvised means are used for periodic routine cleaning. Most popular brands of cleaning compounds flooring: Tyron, Glorix, Mister Proper, Mister Muscle.

Attention! Correct care for an environmentally friendly cork laminate includes the same activities as for regular coverage. Cork panels treated with water-repellent compounds tolerate wet cleaning well.

What are the means by which you can take care of the laminate at home - regularly or in emergency situations:

  • Any baby shampoo added to warm water at the rate of 1 tablespoon of shampoo per 2 liters of water is suitable for regular cleaning.
  • Traces of lipstick and shoe polish are removed with a cotton swab dipped in white spirit.
  • If alcohol gets on the floor, it can be quickly and safely removed with a cloth soaked in warm water and soap and, of course, well wrung out.
  • Marker marks can be smeared with toothpaste and then wiped off with a dry cloth.
  • The stripes from the sole of the shoe are removed with a stationery eraser or the hard side of a dishwashing sponge.
  • Traces of nail polish can be removed with a small amount washing powder... The powder is applied to the stain and wiped with a damp sponge.
  • Gum, candle wax, or gum. You can start removing such contaminants only after they have completely dried. The stain is chilled sharply, for example, using a bag of meat removed from freezer... Do not remove stains with a metal knife or scraper.

Prohibited funds

Compositions that are prohibited for the maintenance of laminate flooring include:

  • Chlorine-containing products such as "Whiteness". Chlorine changes the color of the coating, leading to discoloration.
  • Concentrated acids and alkalis. Such substances can not only spoil the surface layer of the material, but also penetrate into the main carrier layer and destroy it.
  • Solutions with the presence of ammonia - negatively affect the gloss.
  • Polishes not intended for the maintenance of laminate floors. They can cause streaks and stains.
  • Abrasive powders and pastes - lead to rapid wear and deterioration of the aesthetics of the surface layer.

Restoration measures

Sometimes minor damages appear on laminated panels, which can be eliminated or at least masked using simple operations:

Advice! It will not be possible to disguise scratches with varnish - the damage will become even more noticeable. It is not recommended to use the mastic used for the maintenance of the parquet for the continuous processing of the laminate and for the elimination of local defects. This is because parquet mastic is designed for an absorbent material such as wood. On the surface of laminated panels, it forms ugly streaks and stains.

It is present in almost every apartment. modern man, creating comfort and coziness in it. It is difficult to imagine the improvement of rooms without it, and the materials replacing it do not produce the desired effect on us. This is a laminate flooring, the maintenance of which does not require much effort from you and a lot of time, moreover, it will last a long time. Caring for your laminate flooring at home is quite simple, it will gratefully serve you for a long time, if you follow the basic rules. Fortunately, construction market took care of the necessary care products for him.

Several simple tips help you protect your laminate from various damages.

Respectful attitude

The first opponent for laminate flooring is yourself. This point does not imply cleaning as such, just try to follow the basic rules in handling it, as with any other things in your home. The laminate has taken care of family life, so forget about smashed plates and other heavy or sharp objects on the floor.

Shoes

Next on the list are women’s ruthless stilettos and chunky soles. If you need laminate flooring for at least another 5 years, then try to change into soft indoor slippers. Also, do not walk on the heels, as dents can form on it.

If there is such a covering in the hallway, then the best solution would be to lay a rug for the feet.

Furniture

The third thing to pay attention to is the gentle rearrangement of furniture, especially on pointed legs. If you are a fan of regularly changing the decor in the house, then be careful at the moment when you move the chair with your legs on the floor. Furniture should be rearranged carefully, in which special pads under the legs of chairs and armchairs will help you.

Legs of chairs and furniture should be glued with felt pads to avoid scratches and dents. For a wheelchair, special mats must be placed.

Pets

Clawed animals also harm the surface of the laminate, but how exactly to deal with this problem is up to you.

The best solution there will be a claw cut for pets.

Water and sand

The biggest enemies of wood flooring are water and sand. Excessive moisture causes the laminate flooring to swell, so if you spill water on your laminate flooring, do not ignore it - wipe the floor. The ingress of sand is harmful by the fact that grains of sand form scratches on the surface of the laminate, which can significantly reduce the life of such a coating.

Place rugs at the entrance to the apartment so that you can clean the dirt from the soles of your shoes. After arriving home, clean your shoes and sweep the floor in the hallway in order to avoid the spread of grains of sand throughout the apartment.

To keep the floor clean, it must be swept, vacuumed and wiped down with a damp cloth. Remember that you cannot use a no-spin mop to clean your laminate floor, and only products that are designed for cleaning should be used. home care behind the laminate flooring.

  1. For the practical part of cleaning, you will need a soft cloth. It can be either dry or wet, but always soft. A vacuum cleaner with a soft, fluffy attachment is ideal.
  2. Using detergents instructions for their use and care are indicated on the packaging. Usually, 100 ml of detergent is diluted in 5 liters warm water... It is best to use proven laminate care products. If the stain is not easy to clean, then pour a little detergent over it and leave it on for 2-3 minutes. Never and under no circumstances use alkaline materials and mastic to avoid unsightly streaks and damage to the coating surface.
  3. After you have washed the floor, you need to wipe it dry.

Conditions for coverage

You should also pay attention to the microclimate of the room. Try to maintain a temperature favorable both for you and for the laminate in the range of 18-20 ° C. If you have a barometer in stock, then keep the indicator at 50-60%.

Get rid of mints and scratches on laminate flooring

Features of the care of the laminate and how to wash it. How to properly restore the flooring and extend its life. What not to do when cleaning.

The content of the article:

Caring for the laminate is a challenge that everyone who has laid this flooring at home or in an apartment faces. When starting a repair, consider all the pros and cons of this finishing... It also does not hurt to learn how to care for the laminate correctly and what to do in an emergency (stains from persistent dyes, felt-tip pens, grease, swelling due to accidentally spilled water, chips from heavy objects falling on the floor).

Laminate structure for flooring

This is often referred to as laminated parquet, but the difference between the two finishes is significant. Laminate is a kind of "layer cake", which consists of:
  1. Stabilizing layer... It is represented by dense melamine-impregnated kraft cardboard. To improve the soundproofing properties of the laminate, in some cases, a soundproofing layer is also glued to it.
  2. Carrier layer... This is the actual "body" of the laminate. In economy class models and some representatives of the middle price category, it is made from a dense chipboard board. In an expensive laminate, the carrier layer is natural wood... It is much stronger than chipboard. In the bearing layer, locks are cut out, connecting adjacent lamellas.
  3. Decorative layer... Plain paper, printed and impregnated with melamine. Thanks to this layer, the laminate imitates everything - river pebbles and marble, natural wood of various breeds and ceramic tiles.
  4. Top or protective layer... It depends on its thickness and quality how long the appearance of the coating will please.
In addition to the classic laminate, there are waterproof types of this flooring. The main layer in them is not represented by wood or chipboard, but by special durable plastic with air chambers. Caring for such a laminate is 90% easier than for a conventional and moisture-resistant one, which has a wood / chipboard base.

How to properly wash laminate flooring

Wood does not like water, especially for materials produced from the waste of the wood industry. Since 80% of us like to save money, they buy either economy class or medium laminate, which is based on chipboard. Particleboard is afraid of water - it swells with prolonged exposure, rendering the coating unusable.

However, the laminate can and should be washed, but not too often. The main thing is to choose the right detergents for this. It is difficult to find household chemicals only for laminate flooring. Any non-aggressive agent in the form of a gel or liquid diluted in water is suitable for the floor. Soak a rag in the solution, wring it out well and wipe the floor with it.

Laminate care products that can be found in any store household chemicals- Mister Propper and Mister Muscle. Dilute them with water according to the instructions, dampen a rag and wipe the floor. Perfect option- buy a special mop, on which, using a simple device, you can squeeze out the washing surface well.

If Muscle and Propper are not on hand, any pH neutral laminate cleaner can be used for cleaning. If you don't have a suitable one, see what ingredients are included in your household chemicals. The simpler the composition (non-ionic substances, perfume, preservatives), the safer remedy... Knowing what and how to properly wash the laminate, you will keep its attractive appearance for a long time.

Consider the methods of wet cleaning the laminate:

  • Method one "water and rag"... Use a flat mop with a cloth wringer for cleaning. Pour water into a bucket, moisten a rag, wring it out with a special lever on the mop. Wipe the floor quickly, then rub it by hand with a dry cloth.
  • Method two "hot water and a rag"... Use hot water, not boiling water. The procedure is the same: wet, squeeze, rinse, wipe. Hot water is the best way to wash away possible dirt on the laminate flooring.
  • Method three "water and vinegar"... Relevant if the floor in some places is dirty and has ceased to shine. Pour lukewarm water into a liter? glasses of white vinegar, stir. Pour into a spray bottle and arm yourself with a soft dry cloth. Spray the product onto small area floor and start wiping right away. When the surface shines, rinse it clean water, wipe it dry and continue cleaning.
  • Method four "baby shampoo"... Pour into the bucket strongly hot water, add a couple tablespoons of baby shampoo, stir. Clean it up in a classic style. Finally, dry the floor thoroughly.

Note! Household chemicals should not contain sodium hypochlorite. You can use such a composition once. But frequent washing laminate flooring will cause loss of gloss and discoloration.

Features of the restoration of laminate

Caring for a laminate floor is not only dry and wet cleaning, but also emergency help coating in case of scratches, chips, swelling. Juice stains, wine stains and felt-tip pens stand out. The laminate floor is a comfortable easel for children, so multi-colored stripes, or even whole paintings, especially if a small artist lives in the house, can appear regularly.

How to repair scratches on laminate flooring

Scratches appear as a result of improper use of the floor covering - from children's toys (cars), moving furniture, under the legs of which are not lined. It is impossible to leave such defects on the floor unattended. Grains of sand will gradually increase the scratch, and dust and possible dirt will get stuck, as a result, you will have to change the entire lamella, and this is already a small repair.

To remove a small defect, use a wax pencil (match the floor):

  1. Clean the scratch, remove all dust from the floor with a vacuum cleaner.
  2. Run your pencil over the scratch. Repeat the action until the flaw disappears.
  3. Polish with a dry cloth.
If the defect is deep, the pencil will not help, use either mastic or paste:
  • Apply mastic plastic glass(included in the kit), remove excess from the surface, polish with a soft cloth. You can walk around this place right away.
  • The paste is thinner than mastic. Apply it with a plastic spatula to the cleaned scratch, smooth, wipe with a damp sponge and then with a dry soft cloth. Cover the place with something. You can walk on it in a couple of hours.
Finding a pencil of the right color is easy. On sale you can find a shade for any laminate. With mastics and pastes it is more difficult, they are produced in a limited palette of colors. To get the shade you want, you have to experiment: take several colors and mix in different proportions until you get the right one.

How to remove chips on a laminate

They appear as a result of a heavy object falling to the floor. Most often in the kitchen. Caring for such a floor consists in an early repair, since the place of the chip is most susceptible to the penetration of moisture, dust, debris.

Clean up the defect. Melt the special putty with a burner. Apply it to the defect and immediately remove any excess that has fallen on the surface of the laminate next to the chip. Let it cure, sand and polish.

Take care of such a floor in the same way as before: daily dry cleaning, 2 times a week wet, once a year applying special. means (mastics).

Eliminate laminate swelling

It occurs if water is spilled on the floor and it is not immediately removed. The wet lamella increases in size, its edges swell and wrap up. If a long time has elapsed since the ingress of water, the situation can only be corrected by replacing the floorboard.

If the lamella has spent an hour and a half under water, try to save it:

  1. Disassemble the floor a little further than the "accident" site.
  2. Place swollen floorboards on a flat surface (on paper) and leave to dry.
  3. Do not assemble the floor, arrange for a good draft that will remove moisture from the space under the laminate.
  4. Re-assemble the floor and place the damaged lamella away from any possible moisture ingress.
Caring for the floor after an accident is standard, but be sure to seal all joints between the lamellas with a sealant. It's great if they miss the locks while putting together the flooring.

Removing drawings from laminate

The method for removing stains from markers depends on the basis on which their ink is made. There are several options to get rid of them:
  • Take an eraser, preferably "Kokhinor", and erase the drawing with it. If the idea is successful, complete the work by soaking the cotton swab in alcohol or vodka, and then wipe the floor with any suitable detergent and wipe dry. The method is effective for alcohol-based markers.
  • Take a microfiber cloth and try to erase the design. Then wipe the area with a damp and then dry cloth.
  • Squeeze out on the stain toothpaste... Take the microfiber and erase the felt-tip pen. If it works, repeat on the remaining pictures. Then wipe the floor with a damp and dry cloth. Do not use whitening toothpaste and gel!
  • Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover, acetone, or white spirit. Try on a small piece of laminate. If the felt-tip pen is removed and the floor surface remains the same, carefully remove the remaining traces of the child's creativity.
  • Water-based markers can be easily washed off with clean water. Remember to wipe the floor dry after cleaning.

How to remove stains from laminate flooring

In addition to drawings with felt-tip pens, blood can get on the floor in case of an accidental cut, resin from a Christmas tree, alcohol during a holiday, stripes from street shoes, if one of the household members decided to run around the house without undressing.

It is not difficult to cope with such stains:

  1. Dried blood can be removed with any window cleaner.
  2. The resin from the tree must be frozen (put ice from the freezer on top), then carefully separate it from the floor with a plastic scraper. Rinse the place with window cleaner.
  3. Colored alcoholic drink is removed with water and detergent (one of the Mr. Propper or Muscle will do). If it doesn't work, soak a cotton swab in denatured alcohol and try on a small piece of laminate, and then see what happens. If the floor surface is not damaged, remove the entire stain. Then wipe the floor with a damp and then dry cloth.
  4. The stripes from the rubber outsole of outdoor shoes can be removed with a regular eraser - just wipe them off the floor and then rinse it. And don't forget to wipe dry!

Laminate care rules

There are several varieties of this floor covering: ordinary, intended for installation in rooms with normal humidity, and moisture resistant, which is laid where there is a high probability of accidentally spilling water (in the kitchen).

Moisture resistant laminate it is allowed to lay in the bathroom, but you have to use the shower carefully. A few drops of moisture will not harm the coating, but regularly spilling water will ruin even the most expensive laminate flooring. For bathroom the best way- water resistant plastic version.

The rules for caring for the laminate regulate the procedure, as a result of which the floor will remain beautiful for a long time. They must be produced constantly:

  • Pay attention to the entrance area. Dust, sand, soil particles always collect here. To prevent them from spreading throughout the room, place a dust-collecting mat at the entrance. Every time you come from the street, carry out a wet cleaning of this area, and shake out the rug. A clean entrance - 50% of your laminate maintenance work!
  • Remove all sharp objects. By home laminate you cannot walk in stiletto heels and move furniture (you can use a commercial one). To avoid scratches and dents, walk around the house in slippers, and “shoe” the furniture legs in felt shoes or glue on them special pads that are sold in any hardware store.
  • Replace regular rollers with rubber ones. Some furniture (for example, chairs for working at a computer) are equipped with wheels, but they are plastic in 90% of cases. If you ride them on the laminate, stripes will inevitably remain, which are difficult to get rid of. Replace these rollers with rubber ones and ride your health!
  • Eliminate or minimize water ingress on the floor. Moisture-resistant laminate with high-quality insulated joints between lamellas can be painlessly exposed to moisture for up to an hour. Further on, the water will still find a tiny crack and begin to seep inside.
  • Caring for your laminate flooring in the kitchen is about limiting moisture ingress: supply everything flower pots deep saucers, lay a rug on the floor near the sink. If water gets on it, remove it to dry and lay it dry.
  • Carry out dry cleaning with a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.
  • Do wet cleaning with a well-wrung cloth no more than 2 times a week. Change the water frequently while cleaning to avoid streaks on the floor. Be sure to wipe dry with a soft cloth or microfiber.
  • Use only special care products for your laminate flooring.
  • Treat the floor with a special mastic once a year.

What not to do when caring for laminate flooring

Laminated surfaces are quite capricious in care, despite the fact that immediately after installation and during the time until protective covering whole, it is enough to regularly vacuum the floor and wipe it with a slightly damp cloth several times a week.

The following steps cannot be performed if you plan to keep the coating intact for as long as possible:

  1. Use products containing alkali and acid, and powders containing abrasive particles.
  2. Use sharp objects for cleaning.
  3. Pour water on the floor while cleaning.
  4. Keep a lot of pets. If you like cats and dogs, put on a more affordable covering, for example, linoleum or higher class laminate.
  5. Use wax and oil-based parquet products for surface treatment. They do not penetrate into the lamellas, creating a film on the surface to which dust and debris adhere well.
  6. Use gloss products containing glycerin. Getting into the joints, they swell the edges of the lamellas.

Caring for your laminate flooring at home is pretty straightforward. It is much more important and more difficult to properly operate this coating. Teach your pets to undress at the entrance, and then go barefoot or in soft slippers, do not spill water on the floor and do not draw with felt-tip pens! Then cleaning will consist of a daily "walk" with a vacuum cleaner and one-time weekly "races" with a damp cloth.

Last century, laminate very quickly won a leading position among the existing flooring at that time and confidently retains them in our time.

This situation is explained by the constant updating of types and types of laminated floors, the improvement and implementation of new production technologies, as well as the fast and simple installation laminated panels, their reliability and unpretentiousness in post operational maintenance. And although we have just said that caring for a laminate at home does not constitute a lot of work or financial costs, but at the same time, you should adhere to a number of rules.

Laminate panel devices

In order to better understand how to properly care for a laminate floor at home, let's figure out how it works.

As the name suggests, each individual lamella (panel, board) of the laminate consists of several layers, more specifically, four.

Bottom, directly in contact with the floor, stabilizing layer. It reinforces the rigidity of the board, thereby protecting and preventing deformation.

Load-bearing, base layer of the laminate panel. Made of high density wood fiber board and treated with various water repellent impregnations. It is in this layer, due to its thickness, that the interlocking connection of laminated panels is located for bonding into a single floor covering... In addition, the base layer performs noise and heat insulating functions.

Panel decorating layer. Thick paper with a pattern applied to it, imitating the surface of any natural material, geometric pattern and the like.

Top, protective layer of the panel surface. It is he who is most susceptible to external influences as a result of inaccurate handling and cleaning of floors. This lamella layer is made of acrylic or melamine resins and prevents scratches and bumps, decorative. According to the strength and thickness of its application, the protective coating, in turn, is divided into four classes of wear resistance:

  • Class 31 - for use in home (household) premises:
  • 32 - more high level protection, used for home or public spaces with low traffic:
  • 33 strength class - house, premises for commercial use;
  • 34 and above - for industrial and sports purposes.

It should be noted that the concept of class classification is rather relative. And have laminate flooring different manufacturers(Asia, Europe, America), with the same protection level (32, 33 class), operational in terms of terms and strength, real capabilities, may differ significantly.

Disadvantages of flooring - laminate

There are few disadvantages to this type of flooring, but they are. And they must be taken into account when making a choice. In many respects, the disadvantages of laminate flooring coincide with parquet. Choosing laminate panels or parquet flooring, pay attention to their workmanship.

Both materials are sensitive to long-term exposure to moisture and chemicals contained in detergents designed to care for laminate and parquet flooring at home. The quality of preparation of the main surface intended for laying a parquet or laminate floor is further reflected in its condition. And may cause blistering and cracking.

At its cost certain types laminated panels, comparable to expensive varieties parquet, which once again reminds of the need to follow the rules for their care.

Basic rules for caring for a laminate at home

Laminate flooring does not require any special approach. Maintenance of the laminate in the apartment is carried out with an ordinary broom, a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth for washing it and removing dust. Cleaning is carried out every 3 - 4 days or more often, if necessary. That is, according to well-known rules. But what to do is highly undesirable, we will list separately.

  • Caring for a laminate floor means:
  • Lack of polishing and waxing compounds.
  • Formation of water puddles on the floor surface (even short-term).
  • Cleaning with a slightly damp cloth soaked in warm water.

Complete impossibility of using hard, scratching objects and brushes, abrasive detergents in cleaning.

Tools and detergents for the maintenance of laminate flooring

The tools used to clean laminate flooring surfaces include:

  • A broom with synthetic, soft bristles or a regular broom.
  • Vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment, washing vacuum cleaner.
  • Mop with a sponge. Or with a cloth made of natural fabric.

The choice of agents used for cleaning such floors is very extensive. This and the numerous formulations of industrial production related to household chemicals, created specifically for the maintenance of laminated surfaces, which can be purchased at any hardware store. So are the improvised household tools, with the help of which it is possible to ensure the level of cleaning that is not inferior in its result to the store tools.

An example is a solution of white, 9 percent, distilled vinegar, at the rate of 50 grams per bucket of warm water. Also performed well soap solutions based on laundry soap, shampoos and gels for washing the body. The only condition when using such detergents is to thoroughly wipe the floor with clean water and then with a dry cloth. In this case, you will be guaranteed to be free from the appearance of colored stains on the floor.

Means for combating mechanical damage and minor repairs

As protective means for the maintenance of the laminate, intermediate pads made of hard materials are placed under the furniture legs. The scuffs and traces left by shoes are removed with an ordinary, school eraser or a flannel cloth slightly moistened with vegetable oil. Small in depth scratches are masked with a wax pencil of the desired color.

Deeper mechanical damage can be filled with a special laminate putty or acrylic paste. After it dries (up to a day), carefully polish and, with some discrepancy in shades, use the desired wax pencil. Polishes produced for the maintenance of laminate surfaces by the chemical industry should be used no more than twice a year.
