What to make an inexpensive fence for a summer residence. DIY fence: step-by-step instructions for manufacturing and installation Simple DIY fence

A beautiful and reliable fence will decorate and protect any land plot. When only its construction is planned, the question arises - what is the best choice for making a fence so that it fully fulfills its functions? To do this, take into account the location and purpose of the structure. If the fence protects the area from the street, then it is made of more durable materials... For example, from stone, corrugated board, concrete, brick, wood. For fencing from neighbors or zoning your site, you can build a fence made of chain-link, plastic, picket fence. Sometimes such a structure is made of two different materials, successfully combining them with each other.

Combined options for fences are practical and often economical without loss of "presentability"

Let's take a closer look at what to make the fence. We list the most popular building materials for a fence, from which durable and presentable structures are made.

Concrete blocks

Concrete block fencing

If you make a fence of two elements, concrete pillars and blocks, then it will last longer than the cottage can stand. This is a symbol of inaccessibility and reliability. The main advantages of concrete include:

  • Simple and fast assembly.
  • High resistance to all kinds of influences.
  • It can be built on any ground.
  • There are many options for block designs. Their sizes may also vary.
  • Durability.

And now a few disadvantages:

  • The high cost of construction.
  • The area will not be sufficiently ventilated.
  • To do it, you need to involve construction equipment.
  • If the manufacturing technology is not followed, the fence may warp after the winter season.

Professional list

Fencing made of profiled sheet with pillars made of shaped pipe

Often the choice of material for the fence is often limited by the availability of those in the local market. Professional sheet is one of the most common materials for arranging a fence, especially for a fence in the country. It combines ease of installation, affordable cost and durability of the structure. Completely obscures the visibility of the site. There are many materials on the market, and the sheet sizes allow you to make fences of various heights. It is recommended to use sheets not just galvanized, but also covered with a polymer layer, due to which the service life of the corrugated board increases significantly.

Advantages of a fence made of a profiled sheet:

  • It is being built quickly. You can build a fence yourself.
  • Light weight of the sheets, which eliminates the need for the construction of a powerful foundation.
  • Combine well with stone and brick pillars, but the sheets can also be installed on a frame made of metal pipes.
  • Resistant to moisture, frost and heat.
  • Does not fade in sunlight.
  • To make the new fence beautiful, it is better to make it from curly corrugated board, the upper part of which resembles domes or peaks.
  • Relatively inexpensive

Figured profile

Cons of material:

  • An impenetrable wall is formed on the site, which plants do not really like.
  • The fence looks monotonous, in the form of a solid monochromatic wall.

Forged metal fence

This fence looks very stylish. It can be combined with or stone pillars. It usually consists of two elements: an inflated foundation and directly forged gratings.

Advantages:

  • Presentable look.
  • The railing can be made according to an individual drawing, taking into account the desired dimensions of the sections.
  • Variety of manufacturing options.
  • The site is well blown with air.
  • With proper metal processing, high-quality corrosion protection is provided.

Flaws:

  • The plot will be fully visible inside. In some cases, sections are mounted with some facing materials, due to which the visibility of the site is partially blocked.
  • Metal elements need to be tinted periodically.

Wooden fencing

Horizontal fence a chessboard made of wood - a completely modern version

It is advantageous to make a structure made of wood in the event that there is an excess of wood or there is an option where to get it, substandard, it can be of decent quality. In all other cases, the cost of manufacturing it will be quite high (with the exception of the picket fence). There are the following varieties wooden fences:

  • Fence. Can be thinned or solid.
  • Boards. Can be mounted horizontally, angled or vertically.
  • Wood grate. The planks are usually at an angle.
  • a fence made of boards.

Which better fence to do, it is up to each owner of the site himself. The location of the fence and the need to ventilate the site are taken into account.

Pros of wood:

  • Eco-friendly material.
  • Pleasant appearance.
  • Ease of installation.
  • It can be successfully integrated into the design of the site.
  • Combines with any other materials.
  • It is lightweight and therefore does not require a strong foundation.

Disadvantages of fencing:

  • High price.
  • The need for periodic treatments from pests and dampness (pillars in the ground are especially affected).
  • The service life of wood is not too long.

Brick

Brick fencing is considered traditional. It has already been used with success. long years... Brick is a symbol of consistency and reliability, emphasizes the taste of the owners.

Advantages:

  • Reliable fencing.
  • It harmonizes with almost all building materials: stone, metal, wood, glass.
  • Durability.
  • Does not require repair and maintenance.

Flaws:

  • When a brick fence is made, a strong foundation is poured due to the significant weight of the structure.
  • The cost of such a structure is considered one of the highest.
  • Masonry requires the involvement of qualified craftsmen.

A rock

The appearance of the fence from the wild natural stone

For the manufacture of a fence, stone can be used as well as artificial. The latter option will cost significantly less. Advantage of a stone fence:

  • Excellent appearance.
  • Durability.
  • Reliability.
  • Lack of care.

Flaws:

  • High price, especially if you make a natural stone fence. You also need to consider the cost of delivery of materials.
  • The timing of its production can take a long time.

Rabitz

Fencing made of green mesh netting

For fences, a galvanized or polymer-coated mesh is used. It is better to use a material with a polymer layer, if possible. The dimensions of the mesh are chosen depending on how high the fence is being made.

Chain-link advantages:

  • The entire area is perfectly blown.
  • Inexpensive price - is the lowest among all materials used for the construction of fences.
  • Simplicity and speed of installation is important at the summer cottage.
  • You can choose the size of the cells as needed.
  • Ease of construction.

Flaws:

  • The plot is fully visible.
  • Using a special tool, the mesh can be cut and penetrated into the site.
  • The net can be stolen from the site in your absence.

Plastic

Dark plastic picket checkerboard

Plastic fencing is unsuitable for fencing a plot from the street, but it is successfully used for zoning an area, as well as for establishing boundaries between neighboring plots.

Pros of plastic:

  • make the site more aesthetic.
  • Functional areas are successfully delineated. For example, flower beds, playgrounds, recreation areas.
  • Plastic is resistant to temperature extremes, is not afraid of moisture, does not rot.
  • Over time, the plastic fence will not change color.
  • There are many design options from which you can choose the most suitable type of fence.
  • The sizes of the plastic sections give you even more creative options.

Disadvantages of plastic:

  • Insufficient resistance to mechanical damage.
  • It is advisable to use only inside the site.
  • The service life usually does not exceed 12-15 years.

We have analyzed the most popular materials for the construction of fences. Which one is better to choose and what the fence can be made of is decided on an individual basis, taking into account many related factors. Consider the purpose of the fence, the location of the site (house or summer cottage), your financial capabilities, and possible labor costs.

Despite its apparent simplicity, the fence is a rather complex architectural structure. In order for the structure to turn out aesthetically attractive and reliable, it is necessary to divide the project into several stages, completing each of them with high quality and accuracy.

Choosing a fence design

First you need to determine the general features of the future fencing. Whether it will be a facade structure or a small module resting on the fence of a neighboring area.

Enclosing a cottage with a capital fence, most often they choose options with brickwork or a stone.

In order to significantly reduce the load on the foundation, a natural stone combined with polymer elements, mainly based on polycarbonate. At the same time, they try to use only solid brick.

In order to give the masonry the necessary strength, waterproofing is carried out: at intervals of several horizontal rows, a mesh with a large cell or reinforced rods are laid.

Fence with a brick base and inserts made of polymer elements

The simplest type of fence is a chain-link fence. It has minimal ground pressure, is cheap to maintain, but has low aesthetics.

Chain-link fence

Fence structures that combine several materials look more harmonious. Most often, combinations of an array of rubble (in the lower part) and spans from a processed board, corrugated board, colored polycarbonate, fastened by pillars of ceramic bricks, are used.

Filling the foundation for the fence

Having decided to build a capital fence, before pouring the foundation, you need to conduct geodetic surveys for the presence groundwater... The choice of the type of foundation depends on the established properties of the soil.

In wetlands the best option there will be a tape-and-pillar base, in which, before installing the tape, mines are drilled in the soil and poured with concrete mortar.

Tape and pole base for the fence

Roofing material is laid between the soil and the foundation, making it difficult for moisture to access the concrete. The foundation for the brick fence is reinforced with 12 mm reinforcing bars.

Tape-and-pole base for a fence after pouring with concrete

Installation of fences from corrugated board and netting

The next stage is the laying of columns and brick spans. The exact number of sections is calculated by the "blank seam" method and using preliminary sketches. Fences made of a mesh netting or profiled sheet are erected using a simpler technology. It is also used for the construction of combined fences.

First, markings are carried out for the bases, which are used as pillars from pipe scraps. 4 posts are enough for one standard roll of chain-link. Shafts are drilled in the ground with a brace. A depth of 1 meter will be sufficient. The drill diameter must be at least two hundred millimeters.

Recesses for pillars-support for the future fence

For reliable waterproofing before installing the poles, polyethylene or roofing material rolled up in a roll is inserted into the drilled mines. First of all, the first and outer pillars are installed, which are held in the channels on the braces. Then rope beacons are pulled from above and below on one side of the pillars.

Important! Usually, when building fences made of stone and brick, mortgages are made in advance in the masonry. These are metal plates installed in an array of masonry. Subsequently, hinges for gates and wickets and retaining strips are easily welded to them. Also, sleeves cut from plastic pipe rolls are laid in the masonry. Through them it is easy to pull electrical cables that supply street lamps, electric locks and video cameras.

When marking up vertical supports for fences from a profile sheet, it must be borne in mind that the distance between the posts should be from two and a half to three meters. It is recommended to raise the corrugated board just above ground level, about 10 centimeters. This will prevent snow and rainwater congestion.

As transverse supporting elements for fences from profiles, logs are used - cut pipes of small diameter. They give the fence the necessary rigidity and stability.

Lags and supports must be treated with a special compound to protect the metal from various weather conditions

For a standard fence, two logs are enough. They are attached to the support pillars by welding.

Important! Logs are mounted at a distance of 30 cm from the upper edge of the fence and from the edge of the ground. For fences made of corrugated board with a height of up to 1.7 m, two transverse logs are sufficient; for fences from 1.7 to 2 m, it is recommended to install 3 logs.

The profile sheets are attached to the logs with self-tapping screws and overlap with each other, placing them in one wave.

Fastening corrugated board to logs

Important! To fix the sheets of corrugated board, self-tapping screws 35 mm long with a step of 500 mm are used.

Using a level, the pillars of the foundations of the future fence from the chain-link mesh are given a strictly vertical position and the shaft is filled with concrete mortar.

After the concrete has hardened, guides from the wire are pulled between the posts.

Then, with the help of millimeter wire and pliers, they begin to attach the chain-link fabric to them.

Second way.

The depth of the foundation for combined fences does not exceed 60 centimeters. Support posts up to 120 centimeters high will be a reliable base. Screens made of forged gratings or profiles along the perimeter are reinforced with pipe cuttings or corners. After the installation of the support pillars, the screens are hung on the steel tabs prudently mounted in them. On the the last stage waterproofing tops are installed on the columns.

One of important elements country house is a fence. It defines the boundaries of the territory of the site and serves as a protection from prying eyes. Increasingly, the fence also performs a decorative function. In this article, we will look at how to make a decorative fence with your own hands, without turning to specialists for help.

Fencing materials

A decorative garden fence can be made from many building materials.

We should also highlight wooden fences:

  1. The installation process is simple.
  2. The prices for the material are quite adequate.
  3. Such a fence can be painted in any color that seems appropriate.

Stone hedges are no less popular. After installation, such a fence does not require special maintenance.

Note! The fence should be not only externally aesthetic, its main quality is strength and durability!

There are options for making decorative fences from plastic, concrete, brick, bottles and more. Below we will take a closer look at each of the existing ones.

Plastic fence

Typically, plastic fencing can be purchased off-the-shelf in the marketplace or at a specialist store. This material possesses positive technical characteristics, especially the thermoplasticity should be highlighted. Plastic fences can be used to fence flower beds, sidewalks, front gardens. Plastic fence manufacturers use a wide variety of colors and shades.

Here are just some of the features and positive characteristics of plastic fencing:

  1. There are tape and sectional fences... They are ideal for marking boundaries garden path... In addition, they will be a great complement to the flower arrangement.
  2. Each section has pegs. Thanks to this, their installation is not difficult. Pressing lightly on the fence, the pegs must be completely driven into the ground. Installation is possible both on a flat and on an inclined surface.
  3. Thanks to modern developments, such a fence can imitate wattle fence, wooden picket fence, masonry, and more. Typically, the section height is 130-200 mm.

Decorative fence made of wood

Wood is the most common material used to make decorative flower fences and more. The tree does not create disharmony in the garden, they look at ease. The main advantage is the availability of the material. For the manufacture of a decorative fence, you can use different lumber: branches, logs, slats and boards. However, regardless of the type of wood used, it should be carefully processed at the beginning. This is especially true of the part that will be immersed in the ground. For example, this part can be treated with liquid bitumen. The other part of the structure must be impregnated with a special solution that will prevent rapid decay and scare away insects. Consider the features of the manufacture of three types of wooden fences:

  1. Boardwalk.
  2. Lattice.

Board fence manufacturing. Consider an example of making a do-it-yourself board fence measuring 700 × 700 mm. To do this, you need to prepare:

  • four bars 5 × 5 × 70 cm,
  • eight boards 2 × 10 × 70 cm,
  • 40 self-tapping screws for wood or nails,
  • hammer or screwdriver,
  • level.

The work process is as follows:

  1. Supports are driven into the ground at a distance of 70 cm from each other. Using the level, the vertical is checked, and the height is also adjusted.
  2. Then the board is attached to the top of the bar so that its edges do not protrude beyond the edge of the bar.
  3. The second crossbar is installed with an indent of 10 cm from the bottom edge of the board.
  4. In this sequence, the entire board fence is mounted.

Manufacturing of decorative fencing such as a lattice. Such a fence is suitable for a small flower bed. It can also be used to enclose a recreation area. One section in our case will be 90 × 63 cm.For manufacturing it is necessary:

  • two bars for support 3 × 3 × 95 cm,
  • two bars for a crossbeam 2 × 3 × 90 cm,
  • twelve slats measuring 1 × 2 × 52 cm,
  • four self-tapping screws 3 × 40 mm and 3 × 25 mm - 12 pieces.

The entire DIY manufacturing procedure boils down to the following:

  1. The section assembly process is carried out on a flat surface. It is necessary to retreat 3 cm from the top, and then fix the bars with self-tapping screws.
  2. Retreat 50 cm from the attachment point of the upper cross member, then install the lower bar in the same way.
  3. The slats must be fixed from left to right with a 3 × 25 mm self-tapping screw. Having departed 15 cm from the support, the first rail is fixed at the upper attachment point of the cross member and support. The slats are installed in 15 cm increments.
  4. In a similar way, each rail is mounted from right to left. Thus, a diamond pattern is obtained.

To fencing your site or flower bed, you should make the appropriate number of sections.

Note! If you decide to make a rectangular or square decorative fence, then the consumption building material will increase several times.

When the fence is installed, it should be painted or covered with a protective varnish, which will protect the structure from rotting. If desired, the fence can be painted in several colors, which will make the site more fun.

Decorative fence of the wattle type. As for this option, it is done quickly enough. To do this, you will need to get willow, birch or apple branches. It is best to cut them in the fall or spring. The thickness of each branch should be no more than 20 mm. The consumption and volume of the required branches will completely depend on the size of the decorative fence. In addition to the branches, you will need to prepare the following material:

  • wire
  • self-tapping screws for wood,
  • bars.
Note! Some people modernize this idea and use wires or colored hoses instead of willow branches!

So, all work proceeds in the following sequence:

  1. Vertical supports are installed in steps of half a meter.
  2. As a rule, weave should start from the first row. With the help of screws or wire, a vine is attached to the bottom of the support. Then it is stretched horizontally, bending around each subsequent beam / support. So that after a time, when the branches dry up, the structure does not fall apart, it is recommended to fasten each end with a wire.

In principle, this is the whole technology for manufacturing decorative fence do it yourself by weaving. Other interesting methods of making fences are known, more on that later.

Decorative stone fence

In this option, you can use the cobblestones of the most different forms... The result can be a fence in the style of the Middle Ages. With delicate colors, the rough texture creates an excellent contrast. Such a fence will last for centuries, and this is no exaggeration. The work plan for making such a fence is pretty simple:

  1. The first row of stones is best buried and laid on top of the cement. It is preferable to use flat stones.
  2. The stones are picked up at approximately the same height. This will allow you to design subsequent rows without any problems.
  3. To make the structure strong, each stone is connected with a cement compound.

Note! During the masonry process, the seams should not coincide, it is necessary to lay the stones apart.

Metal fence

Everyone metal fence has one major advantage, which is durability. However, metal fences will require additional annual painting, otherwise their appearance will not be pleasing. The metal fence can be purchased ready-made and assembled according to the plan. You can think over the layout yourself and, accordingly, make a metal fence with your own hands. Consider a brief instruction for the manufacture of a metal section with a size of 90 × 55 cm.To do this, you need to prepare:

  • two reinforcement Ø1.2 cm, length 95 cm for support,
  • two reinforcement Ø1.2 cm, length 90 cm for crossbeams,
  • five rods Ø1 cm, length 39 cm for the horizontal bar,
  • decorative elements: six rods Ø1 cm, length 14.5 cm,
  • welding machine.

The work on the manufacture of a metal decorative fence looks like this:

  1. From above, you retreat 5 cm from the support, after which you weld the cross member.
  2. Further, measure 40 cm from it and mount the lower part of the frame at this distance.
  3. Fasten the horizontal bars in 15 cm increments.
  4. Weld decorative elements in a checkerboard pattern.
  5. Installation of the fence is carried out by pressing the supports into the ground.
Note! The distance from the bottom of the frame to the ground must be at least 10 cm.

Of course, the work on the manufacture of this type of decorative fence will take you much more time. But such a fence will also last much longer.

Decorative concrete fences

It is not uncommon to find massive gray concrete fence, which can hardly be called decorative. However, thanks to innovative technologies, a concrete fence can be the most different colors and shades, and a pattern may be present on the front part. You can make such a structure with your own hands, you just need to purchase or make special forms. The work process is quite simple. Concrete is poured into the matrix for a day. After drying, the section is removed and installed. Everything is simple and consistent. Follow these tips:

  • Each matrix must be lubricated with vegetable oil before pouring with concrete.
  • Recommended cement grade is M250.
  • To prevent the product from turning out dark, total mass there should be less sand, and vice versa.
  • Before painting finished product the surface is recommended to be treated with a deep penetration primer.

Decorative brick fence

The most demanded material for arranging flower beds, lawns, lawns is brick. It has extremely positive properties. In most cases, it is placed in a rhombus, as a result of which a toothed fence is formed. But this is not the only styling method. You can lay out fences in the form of an oval or circle.

The second row is laid so that the seams do not match. Each level of the brick is fixed with cement mortar to keep the structure strong. So it will turn out to create a beautiful decorative fence with your own hands.

Many who are starting to renovate a private house and the surrounding area are thinking about how to save money. One of the solutions might be to build a fence yourself.

There are many ideas on how to build and design it.

Peculiarities

It is well known that the fence performs several functions, regardless of where it is installed: between personal plots or between private property and the street.

  • The first and main role played by the fence is protective... The fence is designed to protect a private area from prying eyes or intruders.
  • The second function is aesthetic... The fence should complement the exterior, blend with the surrounding landscape. Only then can it be called correctly executed.
  • The third function is delimiting... Regardless of how reliable the protective structure is, it visually separates one area from another, one object from another.

There is a huge selection of various barrage structures for every taste and color, but sometimes, for some reason, the landowner cannot buy or order a ready-made structure. This is partly due to the fact that he never found perfect suitable option, but most often the matter is in the financial component. Ready-made fences are not cheap, and together with the installation - and even more expensive. Then the owner may think of building a fence with his own hands.

In addition to the relatively low price, homemade fences have another feature - a limited selection of materials. This is due to the fact that rarely at home you can find the same equipment that is used in large factories and enterprises. We have to be content with what we have.

Advantages and disadvantages

The idea of building a fence with your own hands from scrap materials has both pros and cons.

The advantages of self-manufacturing of fences include:

  • low cost of the fence structure - savings on materials and work are achieved;
  • a wide variety - you can make a variant of any shape and appearance, everything is limited only by the manufacturer's imagination.

There are disadvantages, but they still do not outweigh the advantages:

  • increased time and labor costs - for someone who does not like to tinker with repairs, the construction of such a device will seem like a difficult undertaking.
  • the need for preparation - you need to create an approximate sketch, draw up an accurate drawing of the future fence, calculate a certain amount of materials, mark the territory, prepare the foundation - in a word, do all the "rough work" that you don't even think about at first.

If you want to create a fence yourself, then you first need to study the device of the fence, installation rules, types of structures and similar nuances.

Views

There are many types of hedges that you can build yourself. An ordinary painted fence will not impress anyone. Fences are made from a wide variety of materials. They can vary in size - height and thickness. An important role is played by the foundation for the fence, which is an indispensable component for a solid fence.

Generally speaking, all fences can be classified into three large groups:

  • vertical;
  • horizontal;
  • monolithic.

The first two varieties are made from planks stacked either vertically or horizontally. Monolithic fences are made of one-piece canvas. There are also mesh, forged options, but they belong to a narrower classification., therefore, they are not isolated separately.

First, you need to decide what kind of fence you want to install on your site. Whether he should be completely deaf, let in a little light, or not at all protect the area from prying eyes - the choice is completely yours. After the decision is made, you can decide on the material.

Material

Today there are an abundance of options from which to make a fence. There are models made of concrete, brick, profiled sheet, forged gratings, stone, mesh, even ordinary ones. plastic bottles- in a word, from everything. However, it is extremely important that some materials are not suitable for home-made fences.

So, concrete is an elementary example. Many have seen sectional concrete specimens cast into molds with different decorative patterns imitating the structure of natural masonry, drawing vine and the like. Frankly speaking, it will not work to create such a structure on your own: the process is very laborious.

Another thing is that concrete is often used to make the foundation of fences. This application can be called traditional. The only option for a concrete fence that can be done independently is a construction on special glasses. However, it is mainly used as a temporary barrier due to its meager aesthetic properties.

There are a lot of materials suitable for creating hedges with your own hands. Often you can find them at home or get them for almost nothing, others will have to be spent. A common feature common to all options is ease of construction.

Difficulty can only be caused by welding works when necessary.

Wood

Wood is a generic name for several dissimilar materials. First of all, you need to understand that they are all united by the advantages and disadvantages inherent in wood.

  • Wood reacts poorly to changes in temperature, humidity and similar atmospheric phenomena. Under the influence of moisture, it swells, it can deform.
  • Everything wooden planks dry out, and no processing can fix it.
  • Wood is susceptible to decay, and various pests, for example, the bark beetle, often spoil it. To protect the surface, it is repeatedly processed special formulations and paints and varnishes.

  • You don't need any expensive equipment to work. As a rule, everything you need can be found in your barn.
  • An unedged board is extremely flexible, not to mention the vine. This opens up a huge field for experimentation with the shape and appearance of fences.
  • Wood is highly flammable, so this option cannot be classified as fireproof. However, if the building is located at a significant distance from the house and the likelihood of a fire is minimal, then this option is perfect.

Slab fencing is one of the most frequently created fences. This is an unedged board that has a saw cut only on one side, and on the other side - either a semicircular surface or a partial cut. The bark from the slab is not removed, and depending on the knotty of the coating, the price for it also varies.

Less flat options will cost less than relatively smooth ones.

The popularity of this material came with the advent of eco-style fashion. It is increasingly reflected not only in the interior, but also in the exterior. If you lay it horizontally end-to-end, it will create the illusion that you are in front of a fence made of logs.... This is what many designers use.

Due to the fact that the bark is not removed from the material, it is often spoiled by all kinds of insects. When working with a croaker, it is extremely important to pay sufficient attention to the preparation of the material, its processing. The bark must be removed, and the bare surface must be primed, sanded, covered with several layers of varnish for greater reliability. Please note that such a coating is better than others for wood, as it allows you to emphasize its natural beauty.

Non-standard and an unusual decision is the choice of bamboo stems as materials. The appearance of such a fence is extremely unusual, and eyes will certainly be riveted to it. Before you make your decision, you need to keep in mind several features inherent in bamboo stalks.

  • Wood of this type is prone to strong drying out, so the stems must be pre-prepared in order to protect against excessive moisture loss.
  • If water gets inside the stems, this will lead to an early deterioration of such a fence. It is necessary to come up with a solution that will protect their internal cavity from water penetration.

A bamboo fence doesn't always go well with the landscape, as the material is quite exotic. If you are not sure that he will fit well into the environment, it is better to refuse his choice.

Despite such ambiguous characteristics, it is easy and pleasant to work with such material. Obstacles from it are created quickly, but you should not expect a wide variety of options. Keep in mind that bamboo fences are usually vertical rather than horizontal.

The most interesting wood material is pallets.... By and large, they are not material at all. Rather, these are ready-made designs. It should be borne in mind that for the manufacture of such pallets, wood of tolerable quality is used. The small boards that the pallets are made of can be very good at all.

The advantage of pallets is that they can be used both whole and disassembled. A fence made from parts of pallets can be durable and beautiful, but it is in no way inferior to an option from one-piece structures. but in both cases, the wood needs additional processing, even though it has already been processed at the factory.

Thus, the whole variety of wood materials opens wide open space for fantasy. You can choose an option for simple construction or choose more difficult, but show more creativity. It is necessary to coordinate the material and the surrounding landscape, among wooden variations you can always find a suitable one.

Rabitz

Mesh fences are often separated by adjacent areas, and all thanks to the peculiarities of the chain-link. It transmits light well, while completely unable to protect the privacy of the owners from prying eyes. They are produced in several modifications, but for fences it is only suitable with a galvanized coating.

It protects the metal from corrosive processes, as a result of which the metal will not rust and will last much longer.

You will need to purchase additional materials for the grid: metal profiles or pipes as pillars for fastening. And also it will be necessary to acquire thick wire and anchors to attach it to the posts so that the fence from below cannot be bent.

The chain-link can be supplied with the expectation that it will serve to support the hedge from climbing plants. This option is cheap., and the result will be a spectacular and colorful fence.

Corrugated board

Fences made of corrugated board are more common than others. The material is used not only for the construction of solid fences for private houses, but also for fencing plots. To create a fence from sheets, you will need a welding machine and some welding skills, for the rest, the process of installing such a barrier is extremely simple.

The advantages of such a fence include not only the ease of its installation, but also a huge selection of all kinds of decorative solutions. There are materials of different colors, glossy, matte, patterns are applied to them, if desired, using airbrushing or other techniques.

The corrugated board needs additional coverage. It will be necessary to re-treat the material with an anti-corrosion agent to keep it from rusting. As an alternative to such a composition, paint can also be used, only it will need to be applied in several layers.

Often, sheets processed according to all the rules are delivered directly from the factory. To install the corrugated board option, you will also need additional materials: metal or wooden pillars.

Plastic

Several raw materials can be used to build a plastic fence. In the first case, solid layers of polycarbonate are used. This material stands out strongly from all others, largely due to its appearance. The panels are translucent, transmit light well, while distorting the space. Thus, excellent light transmission is ensured and the area is protected from unwanted glances. Plates are monolithic or honeycomb... The choice in favor of this or that variety is determined mainly by the available budget.

The second option is less traditional, more creative and, moreover, much cheaper.

So, ordinary plastic bottles are used to build a fence. Building such a fence is fun and easy. Bottles filled with air have high strength and at the same time they are very light. There is no more unusual way to build a fence.

Such a fence will always attract attention, but if you choose bottles of cinnamon, green or other colors, then the fence will turn out to be opaque.

Brick

Brick is a versatile material suitable for the construction of both buildings and adjacent structures, including fences. Brick option will have the strength that some other fences are so lacking.

The construction of a brick fence will require a certain amount of time and effort, as well as the experience of the person conducting the work, but the result will exceed all expectations. The brick looks soundly, reliably, it is combined with almost all other materials, including wild stone.

The quality of the fence is largely determined by the quality of the brick itself as a material. Builders advise to choose red, not white brick if possible. Red is harder and more durable, while white is more aesthetically pleasing and blends in with any environment.

Brick is also used to build foundations for other types of fences, for example, forged. In this case, it is extremely important to pay enough attention to the choice of the mixture, and also to allocate as much time as necessary for the brick base to solidify.

A rock

Homemade stone fences are more common than it might seem at first glance. Both natural and artificial stone are popular. However, you should be prepared for the fact that the process of laying a stone fence is quite laborious. This is due to the characteristics of the material itself. The stones have uneven edges, uneven shape, as a result of which it is difficult to join them, and you have to resort to various tricks and tricks.

You can often find fences of a combined type, in which some part (or the foundation, or the fence itself) is made of stone. The stone is durable and reliable, so it is suitable for both foundations and masonry.

The material varies in size, color, porosity and many other characteristics.

Slate

Used slate sheets can be re-installed, using them as a reliable and durable fence. Although in fact this material is quite fragile: it can easily crack... You should not subject it to various mechanical loads, and during forced transportation it is better to secure it as much as possible.

The main advantage of slate is that the fence will blend well with the roof of the building. It is incredibly difficult to achieve such a complete match as in this case, therefore original solution using it for a fence is winning. From an aesthetic point of view, things are not so simple. Someone will like this solution, but others will not.

Metal

Any ready-made welded elements can serve as metal parts for the fence itself, be it bicycle frames or headboards, old bed frames. Everything will go into business.

If you liked any piece of old iron furniture, but you do not know how to use it, then making a fence is one of the best solutions.

Dimensions (edit)

The size of the fence varies depending on what it is made of and for what purpose. For example, you can buy several running meters"Chain-link" or with a dozen sheets of polycarbonate. In these cases, both the thickness and the height of the fences will be different. The width is determined by the perimeter of the area to be fenced off. Distances are calculated directly on the drawings.

Colors and design

There is a wide variety of fence designs. This applies to both colors and textures and patterns. They can be painted in various custom colors. Any interesting pattern or ornament can be applied to them.

One of the novelties is the possibility of photo printing... It is carried out mainly on sheets of corrugated board. The drawing is applied to a large area of the canvas, sometimes to the entire canvas, as a result of which you can get the original effect of being in another place. For example, a house can be located in a wooded area, and a landscape with palm trees and a seashore is applied to the fence.

Popular and hand-painted ... It is usually applied to wooden vertical fences to make them look a little more interesting. As a basis, they choose both abstract ornaments and quite specific motives: images of animals, flowers, and the like.

The fence can be either just straight or wavy, ribbed, forged. Its upper edge is also decorated in different ways.

So, it can be convex, concave, with peaks, pins or other shapes.

Required tools and mixtures

Additional tools and accessories may be required to complete the construction work. In addition to obvious devices, such as a shovel for digging holes for a foundation, a screwdriver for installing self-tapping screws, and others, you will need specialized ones designed to work with a certain material.

For example, when choosing a professional sheet, you need to think about how to cut it, how to install fasteners. Anchors or other additional elements may be needed.

As for mixtures, in first of all, solutions for material processing are useful... It is necessary to apply solutions in order to protect the details of the future fence from negative impacts environment, prevent corrosion or decay.

Also in all cases you need cement mortar or cement-sand mixture... The ratio of sand and concrete, as well as the required grade of concrete is determined for each specific case separately. It is necessary to make the mixture strictly according to the instructions indicated on the package, otherwise the strength qualities of the entire erected structure may suffer.

How to do it yourself?

There are many options, each of which requires an individual approach. At the very beginning of work, you need to remember two things: this is safety and regulatory requirements to the fences. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the SNiPs governing such construction activities.

Before you start making a fence with your own hands, you need to mark the site in accordance with your drawings. Do not forget to check if any communications are buried underground. For example, before driving an iron pile into the ground, make sure that no high voltage cables are laid just below. If such a check was not carried out, and the cable really ends up in the same place, then you risk not only de-energizing the entire area, but also losing your life.

You should consider the schemes for the construction of fences from certain materials in more detail. Having studied the question in detail, you will be able to independently choose the desired option, correctly perform preparatory work, lay the foundation in accordance with all requirements.

Wood

Build wooden fence simple enough. There are several ways to do this:

  • use pallets;
  • make from boards.

Both options deserve attention, since their construction does not take much time and effort.

Pallet construction is extremely simple. Ready pallets are simply connected to each other without disassembling pallets... It turns out a barrier with a height of about a meter. Usually, this height is sufficient, since pallet fences are not used as the main protective structure.

The version of the boards can be varied in height. Usually such a fence is made vertical and deaf, however, it can also be horizontal. It is extremely important to lay the boards with a slight overlap (2 cm), as the material dries up over time, and to ensure privacy, the fence must still completely cover the site.

Both wooden and metal posts can be used as supports. note that wood piles need additional processing and waterproofing... Since the fence will not turn out to be too heavy, it is not necessary to make a reinforced foundation - ordinary is enough.

From the slab

A fence from production waste - slabs - is erected in a similar way as from ordinary boards. The croaker is more susceptible to drying out, so it is extremely important to treat it with special moisture-proof impregnations after the surface has been cleared of bark.

Please note that it is not necessary to choose a material with a perfectly flat surface for the fence. Knots and other imperfections, having primed, processed properly, can be turned into dignity by making a hedge in accordance with an eco-style.

After construction, the fence can be painted, although the designers strongly advise to do without it. The texture of the wood and the interesting shape of the slab are already quite decorative in themselves. The same goes for the top edge. Do not round it off or make it curly.

Do not forget to overlap the boards to neutralize the effects of shrinkage.... Remember that the slab looks best when a vertical fence is made of it, since this is the most complete illusion of a solid log fence. The supports can also be decorated with slab boards. This will complete the picture.

Bamboo

Bamboo fences are truly exotic. They may or may not be reliable. Often bamboo shields are framed with a metal frame, welding it in the corners to make the structure more resistant to various kinds of influences, both mechanical and weather.

Sometimes ordinary twine can be used to fasten bamboo stalks, but this option is not the most reliable: in winter the ropes can burst. This does not apply to situations where the bamboo shield was bought on a roll already with twine. As a rule, factory samples are specially processed.

Difficulty can arise with how to close the stems from above from moisture penetration into them. Finding an aesthetically correct, cheap and at the same time simple solution is quite easy. Here you can use an ordinary board, in width slightly exceeding the width of the stems. The board is laid flat on the stems and fixed at the posts.

For a horizontal fence, such a measure is not needed. Keep in mind that the same bamboo stems are best for the supports or horizontal bars, although metal can also be preferred. Do not forget to treat all structural details well with a special antiseptic..

Wicker

Surely everyone has seen wicker fences at least once. The wattle fence has not been used as the main fence for a long time, but exceptions are always encountered. Basically, weaving is chosen for isolating flower beds, flower beds, and also simply for styling a particular corner of the garden.

The wicker is created both from twigs and from thicker and stronger branches... Even a child can build a small fence. It is important to pay attention that the rods are flexible and pliable, but at the same time strong: they must be difficult to break: it is best to choose fresh branches for construction. Last year's will work too, but you will need to soak them first. It is worth giving preference to alder, willow, birch twigs, since they are both flexible and durable at the same time.

Particular attention to the foundation of such a hedge. Racks are driven into the ground at a distance of 50-60 cm from each other, depending on the thickness of the rods. Supports can be either wooden or metal. Please note that in this case, the step between the posts is several times less than usual.

An alternative way to make a wicker fence is to make it out of planks.

This option is somewhat complicated by the fact that the boards are not as pliable as rods, and it can be difficult to intertwine them. The result will fully justify the efforts made: the fence will look soundly and impressive.

Particular attention must be paid to the supports, since several specific requirements are imposed on them. Firstly, racks must be made of metal... This is due to the fact that they are subjected to high loads, since the pressure of the boards is high. Secondly, such piles are always cemented so that they do not break out of the ground, do not change their vertical position.

After the construction is completed, the entire structure is painted in order to additionally protect it from the negative influences of the external environment. It is important to use paint, not varnish. so that the metal piles do not knock out against the background of the overall composition and are invisible.

From the grid

This option is considered one of the most economical. This is partly due to its popularity. Chain-link fences are durable, resistant to temperature extremes and other weather conditions, they are easy to install and unpretentious to maintain. The grids are presented in a huge assortment both in colors and in the size of the cells. It is this variety that makes the chain-link unique, because you can choose an option for any need.

In this case, it is best to use metal poles which are concreted when embedded in the ground... You will need fasteners, since the chain-link mesh cannot be fastened to the self-tapping screws. You can also use twine if we are talking about the construction of not a protective fence, but simply a dividing one.

To prevent the mesh from bending from below so easily, use a thick wire... It is passed through the cells and stretched between the base pillars, secured with anchors in a taut state. This solution makes the site more difficult to reach for thieves, and also does not allow stray animals (including wild ones) to wander here.

It is not necessary to process the mesh, since the galvanized version is already fully prepared for installation.

From corrugated board

A definite plus the construction of a fence from a profiled sheet is that you do not need to make a preliminary drawing. All that is needed is to mark the position of the fence, mark where the gate will be, and install stakes-beacons right on the site in the places where the support pillars are installed. The step between them should be 280-300 cm, depending on what kind of wind load the fence will be exposed to.

The more windy the terrain, the more often the supports should be.

The bottom of the pillars must be reinforced with crushed stone or gravel.... A fence made of corrugated board weighs a little, but also a lot, so you need to protect it from subsidence. Racks must be installed strictly vertically checking their location by level. Otherwise, the fence will quickly warp and collapse. Horizontal beams - logs - should also be metal.

All work is done welding machine, with the exception of the fasteners of the corrugated sheets themselves. They must be fixed with self-tapping screws, overlapping sheets. The fixing step is 15-20 cm.

Plastic

For the construction of a polycarbonate fence, as well as for the option from corrugated board, a plan is not needed. It is necessary to mark the territory, mark the position of the gate, on the borders of which strong pillars must be installed. Supports are also placed at the corners of the future fence. Further, the piles are fixed at a distance of 250-300 cm from each other. They are connected to each other using horizontal bars. At the end, polycarbonate panels are attached.

There is one nuance to keep in mind. When choosing support posts for a polycarbonate fence, you should give preference to options with a square section. This ensures a tighter fit of the plastic panels to the supports and they will be better fixed.

Another option is build a fence out of plastic bottles... To do this, the bottoms are cut off, and the bottles are inserted one into the other until the desired height is provided. Such strips from bottles are fastened together with glue to make shields. In the future, the shields are attached to the supports.

Please be aware that such a fence is more decorative than protective, so you shouldn't install it as a street one.

Brick

To lay out a fence with a brick at home with your own hands, you will need at least a little experience in the construction industry. Installation seems simple only at first glance. In fact, this event requires a lot of skill, which explains the unpopularity of such self-made barriers.

First you need to decide on the thickness of the fence. It can be laid out in one or two bricks... But you also need to think about the masonry itself, what it will be. Bricks can be laid out on top of each other in a checkerboard pattern ( given masonry provides the greatest strength), as well as crosswise. The last way used in the construction of double fences, when the first layer of bricks is laid along, and the second - across, and the layers alternate.

The cement slurry must be of high quality, prepared in an optimal proportion.

Do not use mixtures that have expired: their adhesion is greatly reduced, so there is a risk that the entire structure will collapse soon.

For information on how to build a brick fence with your own hands, see the next video.

Stone

A stone fence can rightfully be called the most durable of all. If you lay it down correctly, then it is quite capable of standing for more than one century. For the construction, it is necessary to make a preliminary drawing, on which it is necessary to note what the height, thickness and width of the fence will be, where to allocate a place for the wicket. Then the site is directly marked with stakes installed at the corners and a rope stretched between them.

The construction of the fence begins with the installation of special forms of plywood along the marking lines... Stones are laid out inside this structure, then they wait for the cement mortar to set, and only then they remove the form. This guarantees the evenness of the sides and corners of the stone fence, which is especially important during construction stone columns or pillars.

The stones can be selected so that the cement joints are clearly visible or completely hidden from view. The filling of the fence also varies: you can simply fill in the cement mortar, laying out the stone only on external parties, but you can create a completely stone fence.

Master builders willingly share tips on how to properly build a fence structure, so that all work goes as smoothly, quickly and easily as possible.

  • Never neglect the foundation for the fence. You can refuse it only if the fence is temporary. It is completely impossible to remove the base: in the spring, the fence can squint, deform, or even collapse altogether.
  • The depth of burial of supports must exceed the depth of soil freezing. Usually this value is 100-150 cm, so you need to bury the piles deeper.

  • You should not proceed to the next stage of construction work if the previous one has not yet been fully completed. For example, you should not move on to laying the next layer of cement if the previous one has not yet dried out. The only exceptions can be works in which strict adherence to this rule is not necessary and this was agreed in advance.
  • Do not start building a fence if you have not checked the SNiP norms.

All fire regulations, as well as the permissibility of installing a particular structure between neighboring areas or on the street, are described there.

Today the wooden fence is gaining popularity again. Modern analogues made from other materials, of course, are no worse, but from time immemorial, mankind has appreciated and still appreciates naturalness. Nothing Beats Naturalness solid wood... On our site there are several types of wooden fences and fences for the house and detailed instructions on how to do it yourself.

The main types of wooden fences

For any owner of a private house, a hand-made fence is a special pride. But before proceeding with its construction, you need to choose the type of construction. Types of wooden fences for private houses and photos for them:

Wattle

Wooden wicker fence. By type, this is the most ancient variety - rods intertwined in a special way and knees driven into the ground. The semi-antique wooden fence wicker (in the photo below you can see in more detail) is very unusual, it is not difficult to make it with your own hands, but, unfortunately, its service life is short.

Ranch

Although the name is reminiscent of American films about cowboys, it should be noted that on the territory of our country, such structures were erected for a long time. They fenced gardens, vegetable gardens, in agriculture animal grazing areas. By design, these are several boards (poles) nailed to a timber bar.

Palisade

This is also a kind of old fences that you can make with your own hands. The stakes are sharpened at the top at an angle of 40 degrees. Has an impressive appearance

Lattice

An attractive appearance, such an openwork wooden one is easy to do with your own hands, it most often serves as an element of the decor of a personal plot or for its zoning. The decorative wooden fence is not particularly durable. It can be done by crossing the slats or narrow boards straight or diagonally.

Fence

The traditional type of wooden fences is a picket fence. The simplest manufacturing option: the boards in an upright position are attached to the veins, and those, in turn, to the wood pillars driven into the ground. This is the most economical and fast-growing way to protect your site. Apparently, that's why it became so popular. Easy to operate, making it with your own hands is simple and quick, and with proper care, it will last a long time.

One more hallmark this fence is that it clearly outlines the boundaries, without shading the site itself.

Separation of wooden fences according to installation technology

Fences made of wood, in the photo above you can see, there are:

  1. Without a foundation. In this case, only wooden posts or metal supports are needed.
  2. On the foundation. The ground part of the foundation is made simultaneously with a wooden beam.

As for the finish, it can be done using any material, taking into account your preferences: stone, corrugated board, brick. A solid wooden fence with a base always looks respectable, stylish, solid. To do it, you need to spend a lot of money, there is an option to reduce the cost of the structure - this is to make a wooden fence with your own hands from start to finish.

Stages of installation of wooden fences

Rustic style (Country) has always been and remains today at its peak fashion trends... Wooden pickets are its striking element, and the simplicity of lines, even without embellishments, always looks modern and elegant. Do with my own hands not difficult at all. How to make a more complex wooden fence? First you need to decide on the material of manufacture.

Important ! When choosing a material for a wooden fence, make sure that the solid wood is free of decay and other damage. Treat the wood with an antiseptic. Or buy ready-made material.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a wooden fence

If you have already decided on the material, choose the proportions: shape, height of the wooden fence. Only after that it will be possible to proceed directly to the construction. How to make a wooden fence with your own hands, drawings and detailed instructions see below.

  • The first step is to mark the territory.

  • Next, you need to calculate the number of pillars made of wood, picket fences and veins.
  • The ground part of the timber must be treated with tar.
  • Then the markings are carried out along the pre-stretched cord under the timber (the recommended distance is 3 meters).
  • Holes are being pulled out. The depth of the holes should be equal to the depth of the soil - this is about 1.5 meters. Holes can be dug with a drill.
  • Think about one nuance well: if you are planning to make a high and heavy wooden fence, then in this case, be sure to attach a metal plate to the base of the support. This is necessary for stability and so that the fence does not twist under the influence of gravity.
  • Wooden supports are installed vertically on sand pillow 12 cm, after which the hole is filled with small portions of soil with sand. Ram thoroughly. To make the structure more durable, the hole can be filled with concrete.

  • After installing the supports, you need to calculate and determine the attachment points of the wood veins from above and below.
  • The picket fence is chosen according to a pre-selected template, but you can make it even by cutting it along a stretched cord.

To simplify the work, you can purchase a ready-made picket fence with or without drawings.

How to make a chessboard fence with your own hands

The next type: do-it-yourself wooden fences checkerboard in the photo, you can clearly see the difference with the previous one.

Compared to the previous one, the wood checkerboard looks more decorative. The main feature of the installation is that you can make it in any execution: dense or with gaps.

The poles are installed in the same way as described above. After installation, you need to attach the beams. You can cut grooves in wooden pillars, in metal pillars it is necessary to weld the corners on which the beams will be located.

Decide in what position you want to make the chessboard: horizontal or vertical, set the guides. With a vertical checkerboard, they are made horizontal and, conversely, with a horizontal one, they are made vertical.

Further, after installing the guides, you can proceed with the installation of the boards. Place them in a checkerboard pattern as shown in the illustration above (one on each side). You can fasten them either with nails or with self-tapping screws.

Very important ! Measure and mark the attachment points clearly, because small irregularities will give gaps, and this will significantly spoil the appearance of your fence.

Do-it-yourself fence made of wood ladder

A wooden horizontal ladder fence is also very popular, so we will dwell on it in more detail. Making such a structure with your own hands is as easy as the previous ones. Install the supports in a similar way (above).

Next, you need to fasten on both sides. decorative overlays made of wood - these will be the guides. As a rule, a channel is used for this purpose; it is easier and easier to insert the board into it at an angle. In this case, it is up to you to decide at what angle you want to make the Christmas tree. The position is also chosen according to preference. The direction can be either vertical or horizontal.

Important ! Remember to place cushioning material between the boards with the boards. This is necessary for ventilation and to keep the material from rot.

Do-it-yourself wooden fence for giving a ladder. The photo shows some models of already finished works.

At the end of the work, treat the fence with an antiseptic and paint the structure.

The guarantee of the longevity of the solid wood fence

As a material for the manufacture of wooden fences, you need to choose those types of wood that are characterized by strength: ash, mulberry, acacia, oak, aspen, Siberian larch.

By the way, the last option is a truly eternal material, it does not deteriorate when exposed to water, but, on the contrary, gets stronger. It is also worth limiting yourself to using pine species to create wooden blocks. You should not use birch, if you do not want to change it often, it has the lowest density among all the others.

Bars for fencing are used from wood and metal, or as an alternative to wood - overlays. The tree should not be discounted. Thanks to modern technologies there are special metal consoles. Therefore, supports made of solid wood do not have to be dug into the depths. The consoles are concreted, and then a timber beam is attached to them.

The most vulnerable areas of wood are those where the cut is cut across the grain. To extend the life of wood in fence blocks, lay the boards horizontally or make canopies. Wood is vulnerable if it directly interacts with air:

  1. At high humidity swells and is affected by fungal deposits.
  2. If the air is too dry, it dries up and cracks.

How to treat a wooden fence to reduce the risk of damage and deterioration? This can be done by impregnating with an antiseptic and painting with special materials: Swedish paint, soaked in hot linseed oil, yacht varnish.

To cook Swedish paint you can do it yourself at home. To do this, you need to mix the following ingredients:

  • Iron vitriol - 260 grams.
  • Red lead iron - 260 grams.
  • Common table salt is 260 grams.
  • Rye flour will need 580 grams.
  • Drying oil, you can use and linseed oil- 240 grams.
  • Water is about 4.5 liters.

The consumption of this mixture will be approximately 200 ÷ 300 ml / m2. The expected color is golden. If you need a different color, then replace red lead with ocher or manganese peroxide.
