  1. The base is a concrete slab.
  2. Waterproofing layer.
  3. Wooden lathing.
  4. Insulation laid between the lathing guides

  6. If the insulation has the thickness of the crate, a counter batten is nailed to it, which will create a gap between the insulation and the subfloor, allowing ventilation.
  7. Sub-floor (thick plywood or board).

Insulation of concrete floors in a private house and apartment differs in some nuances, but the principle of insulation is basically the same.

  4. The top layer of insulation should be approximately 5 mm below the lag level.
  5. Mineral wool is covered on top with a vapor barrier film, which is attached to the logs with staples.
  6. The last stage of warming is the construction of the subfloor, which may consist of boards or thick plywood - this will depend on which finish is chosen.

It is worth noting that if it is assumed, then the rough coating can consist of two layers: boards and plywood.

What is the best way to insulate the wooden floor of the first floor

Wooden floors in modern multi-storey buildings are no longer satisfied, but they are often found in old buildings and in the private sector.

  1. The first thing to do when starting to insulate the floor in an apartment on the ground floor is to examine the walls of the basement.

Insulation of a concrete floor

In most cases, the floors in the apartments of urban high-rise buildings are reinforced concrete slabs. A cement screed with a minimum thickness of 50 mm is poured over the mesh. A thinner screed will be unreliable - after a while it will begin to crack and crumble. Cement strainer should dry, it will take about two weeks. Then, to strengthen the top layer, it is necessary to cover it with a primer. After all this, any decorative coating is laid on the screed.

Option number 2 - insulation along the logs, without the use of wet processes

This option is similar to the insulation of a wooden floor. The difference is that in the thickness of the wooden floor, logs are initially provided, between which it is convenient to lay any type of insulation. In case of concrete floors you will have to design these lags yourself.

1. The first step is to cleanse concrete slab from old screed, debris and dust.

5. Lay the floor. To do this, you can use sheets of plywood, gypsum fiber board, OSB, chipboard 10-15 mm thick. It is safer to lay them in two layers so that the seams of the lower sheets overlap with panels top sheets... In addition to the above-described methods of insulation, there is another, professional, - spraying a thin layer of polyurethane foam (PPS) on the base of the floor. As a result, a monolithic, seamless surface with a thickness of 50-100 mm is formed on the floor. The technology of applying PPP involves the use of special equipment and some skills, so this work is only possible for specialists.

Equipment is used for spraying high pressure, which allows you to apply the material to the floor in the form of an aerosol liquid. Within seconds, this liquid spray layer transforms into rigid polyurethane foam. The efficiency of the obtained heat-insulating layer surpasses any other heaters - the thermal conductivity of PPS is lower than that of mineral wool, foam, expanded clay, foam concrete, etc. In addition, polyurethane foam is absolutely moisture-resistant, therefore it does not need additional hydro and vapor insulation. This material does not require floor preparation before application, it is not damaged by rodents, does not rot, does not burn. The service life of the heat-insulating layer of EPS is estimated by the manufacturers of this material at 30-50 years.

If the heat loss through the floor is small, then you can use more in simple ways insulation. Their essence is to use as flooring material with a low coefficient of thermal conductivity.
