How to make wood window frames. Do-it-yourself wooden windows with double-glazed windows (20 photos)

V last years the demand for PVC windows is growing rapidly, they are most often used for office space, shopping centers Also, PVC windows are often installed in residential premises. But this does not mean that wooden windows have ceased to be popular, rather, on the contrary, they have moved into the elite category. In addition, wooden windows are environmentally friendly.

From the point of view of technical and operational characteristics, wooden windows are in no way inferior to metal-plastic ones. Another advantage is that you can make them yourself.

What you need to make a wooden window

Work on the manufacture of wooden windows can be attributed to the category of medium complexity, to ensure the required accuracy, it is desirable to have special equipment, using a regular ruler and a hacksaw it will be quite difficult to keep the geometry individual elements... You can go the second way - buy finished window, for example, for a summer residence and install it yourself.

The most difficult thing in the manufacture of a wooden window is the creation of a profile; this work requires special equipment and certain skills.

But in the manufacture of a wooden window for a summer residence, the structure can be simplified as much as possible. In this case, to carry out work on the manufacture and installation of the window, you will need:

  • for a box it is best to stay on glued beams. You can also use a solid bar, but in this case, the likelihood of warping increases.

The box will be subjected to loads, so you need to use oak or pine for its manufacture. Soft woods will not work.

  • the dimensions of the timber for the manufacture of the frame are determined by the thickness of the window, as well as by whether it is planned in the house permanent residence... The main requirement when determining the thickness is that the window does not fog up. This can only be achieved if the dew point is located between the glasses;
  • electric planer;
  • cutter;

  • measuring instruments (square, ruler, tape measure);
  • glue;
  • glazing beads;

  • sealant;
  • dowels.

In the manufacture of wooden windows for a summer residence, if the house will be used for irregular living in the warm season, you can choose the option with a thin glass unit, glazing beads and putty.

Making a wooden window with your own hands

To make the frame, you will need a beam of at least 6x4 cm in size, it all depends on the thickness of the window. As for the profile, it also depends on the design of the window, for example, in a two-glass profile, a second groove must be provided for installing a second glass. For the device of the grooves, you can use a conventional router or an electric planer.

With grooves, it's best to experiment with unnecessary trimming of the board.

The creation of a wooden window is performed in the following sequence:

  • careful marking of lumber;
  • end processing - they must be cut at an angle of 45%;

A deviation of even a couple of degrees will nullify all the work done. It is best to use a pendulum saw for sawing.

  • when assembling the frame, its elements are connected according to the thorn-groove scheme, therefore, grooves must be selected at the ends. For greater strength of the connection, the frame elements can be drilled at the connection point and a wooden spike can be inserted into the resulting hole, having previously greased the hole with glue;

For the same purpose, you can use the double key dovetail”, But this is fraught with certain difficulties when making a groove.

To install the key, the groove on the ends should look like this.

  • after this, the frame is assembled, the joints should be thoroughly greased with glue;

  • after the glue dries, its remnants are cut off, and the joints are carefully sanded.

If the window is with a sash, then the installation of fittings must be added to the above actions.

When the box and window frame are assembled, everything wooden surfaces must be thoroughly treated with an antiseptic. After which you can proceed with glazing and installing a wooden window. The glass can only be installed after the final installation of the frame.

Double-glazed windows can be purchased directly from the factory, but for country house most commonly used ordinary glass that is cut on site. The size of the glass should be slightly smaller than the opening for it, after trying on the glass, a sealant is applied to the groove, the glass is applied to it, the glazing bead prevents the glass from falling out of the frame. The glazing bead itself is attached to the frame with thin nails.

Wooden window installation technology

When installing wooden windows, 2 rules must be observed:

  • in no case should loads be transferred to the window block from the overlying part of the wall;

  • during installation, the geometry of the window should not be violated, the angles should be exactly 90 °, and the difference in diagonals should not exceed 10 mm. As for evenness, deviations of 1 mm per 1 m of the length of the window block are allowed.

In order for the window not to bend over time, and the glass not to burst due to excessive load, even at the measurement stage, it should be borne in mind that the dimensions of the window block should be 10-20 mm smaller than the window opening.

To ensure horizontality when installing a wooden window, mounting blocks are most often used. After carefully adjusting the position of the window, it is fixed in the desired position with wedges.

For the final fastening of the window, mounting plates (purchased or homemade) are often used. They are attached to window block at a distance of 25 cm from each corner. After attaching the mounting plates to the wall and to the window unit, the wedges are removed.

The free space around the perimeter of the window is filled with polyurethane foam.

If the size of the window exceeds 1.5 m, then one of the fixing plates must also be attached in the middle.

The window unit can also be fixed with dowels. To do this, a number of holes are pre-drilled in the wall (the distance between them should not exceed 80 cm), then the window is finally fixed in the design position using self-tapping screws. The heads must be sunk into the surface of the wood.

If desired, the heads of the screws can be masked by preparing a mixture of glue and sawdust.

This completes the installation of the wooden window. It remains only to install the glass and execute final finishing, which includes the installation of platbands and a window sill. These works can be started after the end of the hardening of the polyurethane foam (that is, not earlier than after 12 hours).

Installing a wooden window is a fairly simple process. In terms of time, even for an inexperienced person, the installation of 1 window is unlikely to take more than 1-2 hours. About the same amount will be needed for glazing and installation of the window sill and platbands.

It is very difficult to make wooden frames with your own hands, because the profile must be prepared, strictly observing all dimensions. The elements window system should fit snugly together, only then the product will be airtight.

Ebb tides are also difficult to make. They can be made correctly by people who have experience with wood. It is best to cut the elements on special machines, then the windows will last a long time. However, not everyone has machines, so at home it is better to dwell on the simplest project. Of course, homemade product will not be airtight, but for glazing a summer house, a balcony and summer kitchen it will do.

How to make windows with your own hands, spending a minimum of effort? The manufacturing process consists of the following steps:

  1. Choosing the right profile. Purchase of building materials.
  2. Manufacturing of boxes and frames.
  3. Installation of window blocks. Glazing.

On preparatory stage you will need to choose glass. It can be a regular sheet, which is well suited for country windows. In addition, ready-made double-glazed windows can be installed in wooden frames.

Each of the options chosen has its own merits. For example, in the first case, it is possible to independently choose and buy cheap stuff... But the use of double-glazed windows in wooden frames differs in that such windows will significantly reduce heat loss.

When making double-glazed windows, manufacturers inject an inert gas into the space between the glass sheets. Such windows can be used for glazing a summer residence and a country house.

Window frames can be made from larch. Oak is also popular, but it is much more difficult to process it. A good option will be the manufacture of structures from Angarsk pine. Even novice builders can work with laminated veneer lumber, products made from this material will last at least 50 years.

Purchase drawings in advance. The most simple option, which is suitable for novice builders, can be called the manufacture of windows with a double frame and single glazing. The following tools are required for carpentry work:

  • hammer;
  • saw;
  • chisel.

The job will be done faster if the electric planer and cutter are available.

How to make a window so that it lasts a long time? Much depends on the quality of the material. Only dry wood is suitable for work. It should be carefully examined at the construction site. It is important that there are no knots, then the frame will not crack. Glued material is a good option. For self-made windows will need a drawing, glass, metal corners and wood glue.

Glued laminated timber is good because it practically does not lend itself to deformation. A frame made of this material will not change shape even when high humidity... The window frame can be made from 50x150 mm boards and 50x50 mm bars. Also all wooden structures treated with an antiseptic. This prevents rotting.

The factory window profile has a complex structure, it is very difficult for beginners to repeat it. Therefore, it is easiest to use the simplest project. For example, to create window profile plywood can be used. It is necessary to fasten 4 strips in the form of a rectangle. For the manufacture of a profile, several rectangles are collected. So you can make a blank frame or a window with 3 or 2 panes.

To make a frame with 1 glass, you need 8 plywood strips, they form 2 rectangles. Stripes of 2 layers are made smaller in width. Self-tapping screws for wood are used to connect the parts. All parts of the structure are coated with wood glue, then the frame will serve for many years.

How to make a box of boards

The amount of material you need depends on the size of the windows. First you need to make a box, a frame will be installed on it. The box protects it from deformation when the building shrinks. All elements are made of dry board, it must be free of cracks. It is processed with sandpaper, this allows you to remove small burrs. Then markings are applied and parts of the structure are cut out.

In the process of performing work, it is important to pay attention to outer perimeter products. It should be about 3cm smaller sizes window opening in the wall. Next, you should look at the inner perimeter, it should be about 3 mm more size frames.

All elements of the box are connected according to the groove-thorn principle. You can make it with a cutter or a hacksaw. To work, you need a chisel and a mallet. The spike is made on the part that is planned to be installed in an upright position. The groove is cut out on the element that will be installed in the window opening in a horizontal view.

Next, you need to take sandpaper and carefully clean all the elements. The box is collected on the floor or other flat surface. The spike and groove are lubricated with wood glue, this increases the strength of the installation. Make sure that all parts of the window are connected at a 90 ° angle. For this, a metal corner is used.

In order to give the structure more rigidity, 2 holes are drilled diagonally in the box. This must be done in those places where the thorn-groove fastening takes place. Using a mallet, pins made of wood are inserted into them (this is how a right angle is fixed). All pins are pre-lubricated with wood glue. It needs to dry, so leave the box for a while. The next stage is the manufacture of the window frame.

The size of the window determines its configuration. Having decided for the first time to make a window frame from wood, it should be borne in mind that it is easiest to make standard products. In order for the product to be of high quality and last a long time, it is necessary to buy glued pine timber. It is less subject to torsion, which is undeniable advantage of this material.

It is important to choose the right type of glazing. It can be double or single. The first is most often used in areas with a harsh climate; such windows are installed in houses. For a summer kitchen and a balcony, it is enough to make single-glazed windows. Experienced craftsmen they are made in 1 day.

Work begins with marking the bars, you need to select the grooves on them. The easiest way to do this is with a cutter, it is installed on an electric drill. The lower grooves are necessary in order to install the frame in the frame profile, and the upper ones are needed for glass installation. The joints should be glued with wood glue.

Assembling the window frame should be in accordance with the drawing, the process is similar to assembling a box. When the work is completed, the window frame must be laid on the floor until the glue is completely dry.

In order to properly perform the installation of self-made windows, you will need to cut holes in the wall in advance. It is important to remove debris and dirt.

It is necessary to drill holes in the walls, subsequently dowels will be placed in them. The spacing between the holes should not exceed 80 mm.

Most high-quality fastening achieved through the use of self-tapping screws. When the box is installed, all slots should be “blown out” with polyurethane foam. Other insulating materials can be used.

When installing windows, it is important to respect the geometry. The corners must be strictly 90 °, the deviation is no more than 1 mm per 1 m.

Glass cutting.

  1. The material is placed on a flat surface without bumps. This is a very important point, because on uneven surface fragile material may crack. A table is suitable for work.
  2. The markup is done. Then put a ruler on the glass.
  3. The cutter should be pressed against the material, and then it should be passed along the glass along the ruler. There should be a solid scratch on the material.
  4. The glass is moved to the edge of the table, placing it so that the cut line coincides with the edge.
  5. The part of the glass that lies on the table should be held with one hand, and the other should be slightly pressed on the part hanging above the floor. The pressure should be increased until the glass breaks along the line drawn by the glass cutter.

It is best to practice in advance on an old piece of glass, and then cut out a new one.

There is another glazing option. You need to take measurements, and then order glass cutting in the workshop. When the work is done, the material should be picked up, brought to country cottage area and insert into the frame.

Installation of glass.

  1. The sheet is placed in the frame. Then it is removed, silicone sealant is applied along its edges. The glass is put back in place.
  2. Fixing glazing bead. Each frame element must be measured. The staple is cut and the ends are sawn out at an angle of 45 °.
  3. Silicone sealant is applied to the glass in the places where the glazing bead will be installed, which is then nailed down with small nails.

As a result of using silicone sealant and glazing beads, the glass will be securely fixed in the frame and there will be no cracks. When installing windows, it is important to ensure that all cracks are blown out with polyurethane foam. If they are not removed, then cold bridges are formed.

When working with glass and wood, one should not forget about protection. Hands are covered with gloves, and when cutting glass - with special glasses.

When installing a ready-made double-glazed window into a frame, one should not forget about installing a window sill. It can be made from different materials... When the windows are securely fixed in the opening, they are covered with a primer and then painted. Any paint can be used from the side of the room, but to paint the side facing the street, it is worth using paint that is resistant to temperature changes.

Conclusion

Do-it-yourself wood window can be made in a few days, if you choose the most simple model... It is important to measure correctly. To avoid mistakes, you should focus on the old frames. The frames are made of well dried wood. Usually pine is used in construction, but oak and glued beams can be used.

Hide

In stores you can find a large number of windows of any shape and size. Most often, their frames are made of polymer material (PVC); on sale you can also find products made of wood or aluminum. If you want to get inexpensive window for a summer residence, which you can do yourself, then the best option will become wooden window frames.

What kind of wood frames are there?

There are several modifications of structures made of this material:

  • The swing frame is the most common. In this case, one or two flaps can open.
  • Hermetically sealed: there are no opening sashes, the window is deaf.

If you are not going to open the window in principle, and you only need to ventilate the room sometimes, the frame can be made with a window. This will help to effectively serve Fresh air into the room.

Types of wooden windows by opening type

How to choose tools and material?

Before you start doing , they need to be drawn. For work, you can choose wood of any species. The hardness of the wood will determine how difficult it is to process it. For example, oak is the strongest material, but it is difficult to work with because of its hardness. Oak boards or ready-made elements for windows are much more expensive than similar pine ones.

It is a common type of wood, it is the cheapest, softest, which makes it easy to process, however, it is less durable wood. Larch and ash are well suited for frame elements.

The production of wooden frames does not require the use of solid wood; glued beams can be dispensed with. The peculiarity of this material is that it will not shrink after you mount the frame into the wall. That is why the timber is considered quite durable and reliable.

If you have plywood that is thick enough, you can use that as well. The sheets do not differ much in quality from a solid piece of board, they can last long enough, they will not shrink.

What tools are needed to assemble a structure?

To assemble wooden frames for yourself, you will need the following tools:

  • Plane.
  • Hand or circular saw. The second option should have various attachments to help simplify the work.
  • Grinding machine as well as a set of sheets sandpaper with different grain size.
  • Chisel.

A method of making a frame from a bar

You need to start work with preparation for long-term operation... To do this, it will need to be cleaned of all contaminants and treated with an antiseptic. Protected wood will not be afraid of fungi and dampness, it will be able to stand much longer.

After the timber is dry, the production of wooden frames can be started. This is usually done starting with the box. You will need a board, the size of which is 150x50 cm. You will need to make a slot in it with the letter G. This is necessary in order to make the window airtight. After that, the board is cut into 4 parts equal in length. You will need to cut a groove on one part of the boards, and a thorn on the other. In order for the fastening to be reliable, the spike must fit into the groove tightly, with difficulty.

It is most convenient to saw through with the help circular saw... The chisel will help remove excess material, align the cut if it is not quite straight.

It is more convenient to assemble the structure if the groove is placed on the vertical part of the frame, and the spike is placed on a horizontal plane.

Making wooden window frames requires precision, so after you have cut out the necessary elements, you need to try to assemble the box. If all the details come together, the box must be disassembled again, applied to the spike and groove with wood glue, after which the final assembly of the structure is done.

The frame parts should be at a 90 degree angle. For accuracy, you can use a square.

In order for the box not to fall apart and become rigid enough, it is reinforced with metal corners in the corners. Do not rush to install the structure into the wall. First, the glue must dry completely.

How to make and install the frame?

The manufacture of wooden frames for summer cottages does not end with the assembly of the box. Once it's ready, you need to take care of it. For its manufacture, you will need a beam of 50x50 mm: the desired profile is cut out of it, the shape of which depends on what kind of design your window will be, and what width you will install the glazing bead.

The frame itself should be slightly smaller than the box so that it can be placed in it. The gap should be about 2 mm. You will need a plane in order to create a profile. The finished element must be carefully sanded.

The production of wooden frames for windows follows the same principle as the assembly of the box. Saw out the lock in the structure, cover it with glue and connect the elements. Outside, you can install metal corners, thanks to them, the structure will become more durable.

Before installing the structure, it is recommended to treat it with a stain. After the paint has dried, hinges and sashes can be installed if the structure is openable.

Using plywood as the main material

To work with this material, it is desirable to have a jigsaw. Plywood should be taken moisture resistant with a minimum amount of damage and cosmetic defects. The most suitable will be plywood with a thickness of 9-15 mm. To make the frame, you will need to cut out 4 strips, the width of which will be different. Each layer is treated with glue, connected, pressed down and allowed to dry.

Option for making a wooden window from rails

When working with plywood, the spike-groove elements are taken into account in advance; it is not always possible and convenient to cut them out.

The second layer should be thinner than the first, this will allow the glass to be installed. For strength finished structure fixed with self-tapping screws. Plywood is an analogue of laminated veneer lumber, only in this case you make it yourself.

Wooden window frames for summer cottages are an excellent inexpensive solution, if you have a tool, desire and improvised material, you can make them yourself, which will allow you to significantly save on buying a window.

DIY a window not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. You just need to stock up on the necessary materials, patience and learn some of the subtleties. Most often, windows are made independently during the construction of a summer house, closed veranda or greenhouses.

If you have confidence in your abilities, then acquiring quality materials, you can make a window with your own hands for an apartment or house. The main condition for the resulting product will be ideal correct geometry and meeting the requirements for good tightness. In addition to providing a durable, warm and healthy window, a significant amount of money can be saved.

Of course, it is very difficult to achieve such precision of assembly as it is during the factory production. But, observing all the technologies concerning the joints of parts window construction, you can get a high-quality result.

To make do-it-yourself plastic window is possible only using professional equipment and possessing certain skills. Therefore, the easiest way is to make a window with your own hands using more available materials such as wood.

Preparatory stage for installing a window with your own hands.

To complete the work, you must prepare the tools in advance. You will need the following materials and tools:

Hammer;

Screwdriver;

Glass cutter;

Chisel;

Electric plane;

Wooden beam;

Polyurethane foam;

Self-tapping screws;

Sandpaper;

After preparing everyone necessary materials and tools, it is necessary to take measurements and to draw up a scale drawing of the future window. If the drawing is drawn up correctly, then it will be easy to calculate the amount of material required for the work using it. After all the calculations and preparation of the tools, you can start making the box.

Do-it-yourself box for a wooden window.

As a rule, in the manufacture of a wooden window, pine is used as a material. It is affordable and practical material at a reasonable price. Plus, it's great for first-timers. make a window with your own hands... You can use oak as a material. The window will be stronger and more durable. But in case of failure, the material will become unusable, and its cost is quite high.

Regardless of the type of wood, it must meet certain requirements. The material must be well dried and free from damage or other defects (eg knots or cracks). When choosing a material, it is necessary to take into account that the box is located in the window opening and all the main load falls on it.

Some experts advise choosing glued laminated timber as a material. The frame is considered to be of high strength and can cope well with various influences that can cause deformation.

To begin with, a board with the following dimensions is taken: 150x50 mm. Then, grooves are made on the details of the box, in shape resembling the letter G. The depth of the grooves should be approximately 15 mm. After that, the blanks of the future box with the help of special wood glue are connected to each other in the area of the grooves.

After that, it is necessary to drill holes and place a wooden rod in them, at least 3 cm long. This will increase the reliability of the connection and achieve the necessary requirements for immobility and rigidity.

The resulting box is mounted in the window opening so that it is motionless. For this, holes are drilled in the wall into which the dowels are driven. Self-tapping screws are used as retainers.

After inserting the box, small gaps and gaps may form, which must be treated with polyurethane foam. It serves as a sealant and performs an additional strengthening function.

Important! With such an installation, the mobility of the boards is not taken into account, which can occur with temperature drops.

Making a frame for a window with your own hands.

To make a frame with your own hands, you need to take a timber with a section of 6x4 cm. Depending on the design of the future window, you can use a larger timber.

The frame profile depends on the number of glasses to be used, their thickness and the size of the glazing beads.

If one glass is inserted in the profile, then two grooves are made rectangular, which are necessary in order to place the glass and subsequent installation in the box;

If there are two glasses in the profile, then another groove is made.

To make a profile with your own hands, you need a router or electric planer... The standard glass thickness is 4 mm, the glazing bead thickness is 10 mm.

After preparing the boards, you can start assembling the frame. The boards are sawn in accordance with the required dimensions at an angle of 45 degrees. They are connected to each other by the "thorn-groove" method. To impart immobility to the entire structure, self-tapping screws are additionally used.

Advice! It is necessary to screw the self-tapping screws as deep as possible into the tree. So that the caps are recessed into the material and do not protrude above the surface of the tree.

DIY work with glass for a window.

For this stage important point is the precise determination of the dimensions of the glass. This is necessary for a tighter fit, which will avoid the formation of possible bridges in the structure for the entry of cold air. When taking measurements, values should be taken taking into account each millimeter.

Glass cutting is carried out using a diamond glass cutter. The end parts of the prepared glass are processed with sandpaper.

When working with glass, it is imperative to observe the basic safety requirements:

Wear gloves to protect your palms from possible cuts;

Wear safety goggles. To avoid possible ingress of glass dust or chips.

When working with a glass cutter, the cut is made using a ruler along which the tool is guided. The ruler should be longer than the length of the glass to be cut.

After that, the glass is moved to the very edge of the table. The cut is carried out by hand with light pressure. V ideal option it should break exactly along the line drawn by the glass cutter.

The resulting glass is fitted to the window frame. If the size is appropriate, it is pulled out for the next stage of work.

Before placing the glass in the window frame, all grooves are treated with a hermetic compound. To additionally fix the glass in the frame, a glazing bead is used. It is attached to the frame with thin studs. If, for some reason, wide glazing beads are used, then they can be fastened with self-tapping screws.

If it is planned to insert two glasses into the window, then in the center of the frame is mounted vertical bar which is also equipped with grooves. In such a window, each half is performed separately. The second frame must be narrower than the first. It is attached to the main frame with hinges. In this case, you get an opening sash.

The last stage of installation work on the window with your own hands.

After the complete assembly of the window, it must be inserted into the box and fixed well. The window is fastened using self-tapping screws, which must go through the box. This may require a special assembly gun and metal dowels to it.

The gaps and cracks formed during the assembly process must be treated with polyurethane foam. Proceed to plastering works is possible only after polyurethane foam dry well.

To complete the installation of a wooden window, like any other, you need to install a window sill and ebb.

Most people call a craftsman to change windows and insert plastic or aluminum frames. Their main disadvantage is the relatively high price and the need to use special equipment... Can I make a window frame with my own hands? What tools and materials are needed for this?

Figure 1. Wooden frames are environmentally friendly and have low thermal conductivity.

Indeed, for glazing a country house or greenhouse windows, it is not at all necessary to install a plastic frame - it is quite suitable homemade construction made of wood.

What needs to be prepared

To make a homemade wooden frame, you need to purchase completely dry wood in the form of bars or their glued version. Many people use plywood to make the frame.

When choosing a material, you need to take boards with a section of 5X15 cm or a timber 5X5 cm.The following auxiliary parts and materials will be needed:

  • joiner's glue;
  • window squares made of metal;
  • glass.

You need a drawing and carpentry tools: a saw, chisels, a hammer. After everything is purchased and prepared, you can get to work.

How to make a wooden window frame with your own hands from bars

Window frame drawing.

Highly good material for work, often used in construction - it is glued wooden bar... You can use its usual solid wood version, but this increases the likelihood of the frame losing its shape due to atmospheric precipitation. This can be avoided by covering the tree with a special protective compound.

The technological process of manufacturing a structure consists of the following stages:

  1. The first step is to make a window frame. To do this, cut a groove in a 5X15 cm board so that the board looks like the letter "G" in profile. Such a comb is needed for the tightness of the future window.
  2. The dimensions of the structure are accurately calculated and they begin to saw the boards, and each of them should be divided into four parts the right size, and they are connected together. Most reliable option for such an assembly - the use of a tenon and a groove. To make them quickly, you need the following tools: a chisel, a hammer and hand saw or an electric cutter. The grooves are made on the vertical parts of the frame. Thorns are cut out on the horizontal segments. After the manufacture of all these parts, they are coated with carpentry glue and the parts of the box are connected, not forgetting to observe the accuracy of all joints with a 90 ° metal square.
  3. The next stage of work is the strengthening of special window squares in the corners of the frame ends. They are purchased at construction market or in a store, and they are necessary to give the necessary rigidity to the box.
  4. Give the glue some time to dry and start making a frame for the movable part of the window. The beam for it should have a smaller section than for the window frame. Therefore, its cross-section is reduced so that the gap between the frame and the main box is in the range from 0.1 to 0.2 cm.
  5. Frame parts are connected in the same sequence and using spikes and grooves, as described above in the manufacture of a window frame.
  6. After complete assembly of the inside of the window, it is attached to the box with hinges. You must first insert a glass sheet, although this can be done even after the frame is completely assembled with your own hands.

The structure is ready to work (fig. 1).

Plywood window production

Window frame assembly diagram.

If you try to make a factory-made frame profile at home, you can ruin the purchased material.

Therefore, to eliminate this problem, the frame with your own hands can be made from strips cut from a sheet of plywood.

To do this, it is quite enough to have four such strips, which must be connected into a rectangle. At the same time, do not forget to set a right angle at the ends of the structure with the help of a measuring square. To receive desired profile do-it-yourself frame is assembled from several such rectangles, which have different widths.

In this case, do not forget to make accurate measurements, otherwise the design will turn out to be lopsided. In this "hybrid" way, plywood can be used to produce curly-shaped windows.

This method is suitable for both fixed and multi-sash window structures containing one, two or three rows of glass. For a frame with one row of glazing, it is sufficient to have 8 plywood strips connected in 2 rectangles. To secure glass sheets the second layer of stripes should be less wide than the first rectangle.

The resulting parts are fastened with self-tapping screws.

If two or three rows of glasses are inserted, then all parts are coated with wood glue.
