Should I choose an orthopedic bed base or a flat solid base? Lamel - what is it? The dimensions of the lamella are reduced from the central one.

A well-organized sleeping place ensures healthy, full sleep and well-being during wakefulness. It is not enough just to buy a mattress with an orthopedic effect; you should choose the right base for it. The orthopedic bed base is a sleeping accessory that ensures the anatomically correct body position of a sleeping person.

Advantages and features of the orthopedic blood base

The bed base with slats serves to maximize the anatomical effect of the mattress. The mattress grate can be used as a built-in element in the bed frame or as a separate sleeping bed.

The bed accessory has such advantages as:

  • hygiene sleeping place due to the free movement of air;
  • enhanced orthopedic effect, providing an even distribution of the load on the body;
  • environmental safety through the use of natural materials;
  • high margin of safety;
  • mobility and lightness.

Depending on the design features orthopedic bed bases can withstand loads from 100 to 250 kilograms per bed.

Varieties of orthopedic bases with lamellae

Based on the dimensions of the bed, the orthopedic base for the mattress is divided into single and double models. Structurally, the basis for a single bed is an independent bent slats, fixed to the frame with the help of lateral holders. The double slatted base for the bed is equipped with an additional transverse slat that eliminates sagging and two rows of latoflexes.

The design of the mattress support can be equipped with support legs and transformation mechanisms. The single stands have four legs, while the double models have additional central legs.

Some models of mattress supports have the function of adjusting the hardness of individual zones. To adjust the degree of rigidity, the bases are equipped with special clamps that allow you to connect the lamellas.

The most popular standard length of the mattress support is 2000 mm. The furniture market also offers less popular custom sizes- 2050.2100 and 2200 mm. For cots and teenagers, lattices with a length of 1700 to 1900 mm are provided.

Lattice standard width:

  • for a single bed - 700 mm;
  • for double models - 1200,1400,1600,1800,2000 mm.

How is the bed frame with slats

A bed with an orthopedic base can have a metal or wooden frame. In addition to natural elasticity, wooden lamella frames are distinguished by their low weight and a large selection of modifications. The wall thickness of the metal frame is 1.2 or 1.5 mm. Metal frames are characterized by more long term operation and high durability. The service life of a metal frame reaches 20 years.

Typically, metal substrates are welded in one piece. Therefore, metal frames are inferior to their wooden counterparts in terms of mobility.

The way the rails are attached to the frame depends on the type of frame. So, in wooden structures fastening is carried out using special lugs-holders, fixed to the frame with furniture staples or rivets. V metal models for fixing the rails, special stands are used, built into the frame.

Bed slats - what are there, selection rules

Curved slats or lamellas are elements made of natural glued wood and located at a given distance from each other. The mechanism of action of the frame made of lamellas is as follows: when the body pressure on the mattress, the load is transferred to the curved lamellae, which, due to the cushioning, reduce the back pressure of the compressed mattress on the sleeping person's body. The lattice structure allows not only to correctly distribute the load on the human body, but also significantly prolongs the service life of the mattress.

Lamellas for orthopedic bases, as a rule, are made from such tree species as:

  • Birch.

Beech lamellas are characterized by high elastic properties, which enhances the orthopedic effect of the bedding. The disadvantages of beech include the higher cost of the material.

Birch lamellas bend well, but the springy effect of birch laths is slightly lower in comparison with beech counterparts, since the tree has greater rigidity. But at the same time, the cost of birch lamellas is much less.

There are two main types of lamellas:

  • narrow - standard width plates from 3 to 4 cm;
  • wide - the width of the lamellas is from 5 to 7 cm.

Blades with narrow lamellae belong to the price segment above the average. The method of attaching narrow slats to the frame (through the lamella holder) helps to suppress squeaks and increase flexibility, thanks to which the lamellas take the load better. Narrow slats work well with mattresses with spring densities ranging from 200 to 1200 units per square meter.

According to the method of fixing to the frame, wide lamellas are subdivided into overhead and mortise. The disadvantages of the latter include the appearance over time of creaks and deformations of the mattress flooring surface at the joints of the slats with the frame. The key advantage of wide slats is the affordable price.

In bed stands, the slatted components can be positioned at different distances from each other. How to choose an orthopedic bed base? The choice of lamella system directly depends on the type of mattress. An orthopedic base with lamellas at a distance of 5 cm from each other is suitable for a springless design of bedding. For Pocket Spring mattresses, a frame with bent plates located at a distance of no more than 3 cm is required. For Bonnel mattresses, the distance between bent slats is not of key importance.

When choosing the number of latoflexes in a slatted base, it should be remembered that the more their number, the higher the flexibility and anatomical properties of the frame for the mattress. The most popular are bed bases with the number of slats from 26 to 30 units. The smaller the pitch of the lamellae, the longer the life of the mattress.

Types of lateral holders in orthopedic bases

Fastening of latoflexes to the base frame can be carried out using the following types of latoflexes:

  • waybills;
  • mortise;
  • targeting.

Overhead and mortise clamps are designed for metal frames. The overhead is a mounting box equipped with two pins. Late holders are put on each side of the plank and "snapped" into the base frame. Mortise elements for fixing battens are a box with a fixing rim.

Shooting plate holders are used to attach rails to wooden frame... The design includes a mounting box and a bracket. The fittings are put on with the holder down on each side of the curved strip and fixed on the wooden base with a stapler.

According to the material of manufacture, clamps for armor are:

  • plastic;
  • rubber;
  • polypropylene.

Polypropylene and rubber lat holders have become very popular, since they eliminate the occurrence of a squeak of the bed.

Thanks to the springy effect of the lamellas, the quality of the bed is increased. The orthopedic bed base is required attribute for a healthy sound sleep.

Today, orthopedic mattresses have replaced conventional mattresses.

Beds, which have lamellas in their design, themselves serve as an orthopedic bed. Strengthening the effect of the mattress, orthopedic bed slats help to reduce the load on it.

If the usual one is used, then the only correct solution in this case is to purchase a bed based on slats.

Slats are a set of pre-curved planks. They have another name - armor. They form a springy lattice of the frame, on top of which the mattress is laid.

The battens are mounted on a square-shaped metal frame.

Birch ( economical option), poplar or beech (for expensive products), orthopedic slats for the bed are made. Additional protection from moisture is given to them by treatment with paints and varnishes.

Wood lamella has great elasticity due to the fact that the wood fibers have one direction. This compares favorably with boards, plywood, chipboard, which are difficult to bend.

According to experts, the more lamellas, the better. The optimal amount for - 30 lamellas. One-bed, respectively, should have half the size.

According to some manufacturers, 20 and 22 are sufficient wooden partitions for beds with lengths of 190 cm and 200 cm respectively. But they also agree that the flexibility of the bed increases with the number of slats.

The gap between the battens should not exceed the width of one strip. This value is 53 mm. In some cases, the width is different. The length of the slats depends on the width of the bed. Their usual thickness is 8 mm.

Slats can be attached to the bed frame with a special tip holder.

It can be made from:

  1. Plastic;
  2. Rubber;
  3. Polypropylene.

The holder is attached to the frame with rivets or furniture staples.

Alternatively, a separate lamella is placed directly into a special metal support frame.

There are varieties of frames with an internal lamella. Holes are already prepared in them for fixing the holders. This design does not require the use of rivets, which increases its reliability.

Advantages of bed slats

Their popularity is due to their advantages:

  1. Elasticity... The resilient qualities of the flexible bed slats allow you to distribute the body's load correctly. The spine assumes a natural position during sleep. Taking a horizontal position, the body experiences different loads in different places. In women, the thighs feel more pressure, in men, the chest.
  2. Plastic plate holders differ lack of squeaks, which is so important in the silence of the night.
  3. Increasing the life of the mattress... Taking full weight of the person, the slats spring gently and redistribute the weight of the mattress.
  4. The gaps between the plates give good ventilation mattress... This ensures that there is no bad smells and humidity, as well as the appearance of harmful microorganisms.
  5. Affordable price.

Easy repair

One of the major advantages of lamellas is their ease of use.

If one of them is accidentally broken, it can be easily replaced.

First, a new lamella is bought.

Further actions:

  • Raise the frame at the place of breakage;
  • Remove the plate holder from the frame;
  • Take out the damaged plate;
  • Put a new one;
  • Fasten the lath holder.

In a small room, a clamshell is relevant. It can be easily removed after a night's sleep. With a solid orthopedic bed, the folding beds on the slats ensure a good sleep.

The high strength of the bed is ensured metal frame made of steel tube 22 mm in diameter. Pipe thickness 1.2 mm. Runs along the center of the bed additional support, increasing its strength.

The folding bed has a base on transverse slats. At their ends (in the places of fixation to the frame) there are special nozzles that prevent creaking.

V folding beds there must be at least 14 slats. This amount is sufficient for normal back support. Unlike the usual folding bed, such a bed does not squeeze.

The set for a folding bed usually includes a 6 cm thick mattress with hollcon filling. This is exclusively environmental material with high strength. He guarantees long term exploitation.

Due to their ease of use and affordable price, lamellas have become widespread in the furniture market.

There are also beds with soft or hard metal bars and springs. But for health, this is not the most right choice... Only orthopedic bases with flexible lamellas are able to give the body proper rest.

A comfortable bed in the modern sense is a complex system carefully calculated to provide anatomically comfortable sleep. And in this system, not the last place is occupied by the base with lamellas under the mattress.

Lamels - what are they?

V broad sense lamellae are strips, plates made of any material. The bed slats are part of the slatted base on which the mattress is placed. They are also called lats or latoflexes.

The modern slatted bed base consists of several transverse thin slats that have replaced traditional springs, massive boards and solid bases.

The comfort of the bed and your sleep depends on the structure of the lamella bed frame and the quality of the lamellas themselves.

What are bed slats and what are they for

In furniture production, latoflexes (lamellas) are transverse slats on a bed or sofa frame that support the mattress. But today, more and more often the slats are attached to a separate orthopedic base, which is hidden inside the bed frame.

A slatted bed base has advantages over a solid one. It provides air circulation, making it easier to care for the mattress and allowing it to "breathe", evaporating the moisture released during sleep by a person, because its upper part is usually covered with a mattress cover, bed linen, bedspread. Bed slats are a great way to avoid the greenhouse effect in the mattress, reducing the risk of pathogenic flora growth due to high humidity.

The most comfortable lamellas have a resilient arcuate profile that provides a slightly springy effect when applied. Elastic arch-shaped battens reduce the load on the mattress and increase its anatomical effect.

Benefits of slats in bed

A lamella base gives:
  • correct operation and ventilation of the mattress, prolonging its life;
  • improved support of the spine in the required position (it is especially worth paying attention to models with adjustable stiffness of the lamellas);
  • comfortable rest - especially slatted bases with a transformable shape, which allow you to take the most comfortable position for complete relaxation.
The structure of the base with battens can be different. The lattice can be either wide or narrow. The number and width of the lamellae affect the degree of anatomical effect and the usefulness of the base.

When choosing the type of slats, pay attention to the design of the mattress:

  • wide slats- suitable for springless mattresses and mattresses with bonnell springs;
  • narrow slats- are suitable for all mattresses, but they should be especially preferred if your mattress is on independent springs, and you definitely need to choose these for models with increased density of springs such as "multipocket".

How many lamellas should there be in the base? Experts say: the more bars it has, the better! The basic rule for choosing the number of latoflexes: the more slats the base has, the higher its flexibility and anatomical support. The maximum number of laths can reach 26-30 - such a base with armor is the most popular.

The distance between the lamellas can also vary. It should not be much larger than the rail width. The usual width of wide lamellas is 5-7 cm, narrow 3-4 cm, thickness - 8 mm.

How lamellas are made - materials

Bed battens are mainly made of wood. For the manufacture of lamellas, bent-plywood is made from several layers. natural veneer... This material is optimally suited for the production of latoflexes due to its high elasticity and good resilience. The naturalness of wood lamellas is also attractive:
  • birch lamellas - a more economical option;
  • beech lamellas - installed on more expensive bases, they have the highest strength and flexibility.

How bed slats are attached: types of holders

Today, manufacturers are increasingly abandoning the options for slats on the tape and rigid attachment of slats in the bed frame. Latoflexes are usually held on the frame by means of special tips that are put on each bar - lamella holders.

Lamella holders are made of:

  • rubber;
  • polypropylene;
  • plastic.
Rubber or polypropylene support holders prevent the bed from squeaking.

How to insert, remove or change lamellas?

The tip is put on a separate strip, which is then inserted into a special slot on the frame. At the same time, the armor slightly bends - they can easily withstand it.

Not sure how to remove the slats? To do this, you need to carefully bend the bar so that the mount comes out of the socket, and slide the end of the latoflex to the side. This skill is useful if you are trying to disassemble the base or are puzzled by the question of how to change the lamellas.

Bases with adjustable lamella stiffness are gaining popularity. These have slats with special attachments in the zone of active load on the base - they allow you to adjust the rigidity of latoflexes.

By moving or moving a pair of cursors along the bar, you can decrease or increase the stiffness of the support in this zone.

An additional unit with double or triple lamellas is also installed on the core. It allows you to increase the rigidity in the lumbar region, improving the orthopedic properties of the mattress.

Lamels are the most important detail orthopedic bed base. They provide a springy effect, increasing the usefulness of the anatomical mattress. High-quality flexible slats under the mattress are the basis for sound and healthy sleep.

Slats for French clamshell

In our store you can buy wooden lamellas for "French" folding beds, both individually and as a set.

French folding bed - This is a sofa that transforms into a large comfortable bed with a special transformation mechanism (Mixotoil). This kind upholstered furniture is not suitable for frequent use, it is used in cases where there are few sleeping places in the house, but you still need to arrange guests with conveniences. The method of transformation from a sofa to a bed is as follows: lifting three sections, fastened together by hinges, towards yourself. The main disadvantage of such furniture is a large number of hinges and the compactness of the frame, with frequent use of such a product, the frame may bend and the transformation mechanism will wear out. This can be solved by replacing the standard awning or mesh with strong orthopedic lamellas ("Bent glued boards"). The worn-out transformation mechanism can also be replaced with a new one.

Choose high quality

All raw materials for the production of molded products, we purchase from reliable suppliers, which always meet high quality standards. Due to the constant modernization of the fleet of woodworking equipment and the use of innovative technologies we ensure consistently high quality of the final product. The lamellas of our production are made of durable birch veneer and beech, have aoptimal bending radius R 4000-8000 mm, nare produced in all standard sizes, NSnot covered with colorless varnish, as many write, but covered with heat-treated glue.

How to measure a lamella?

To determine the dimensions of the lamella (bent glued board), you can use a ruler or tape measure by attaching the tool as shown in the figure. Particular accuracy in measurements is not required, since all plate holders have a gap of 3 to 5 mm.

It is difficult to call this term absolutely unfamiliar to our citizens. However, earlier it was used mainly in relation to furniture items or in construction. And it meant stripes from a variety of materials.

When it comes to blinds, this word refers to strips of fabric, plastic, metal or wood, which create a single canvas, which also serves to protect the room from unwanted sun rays... They also help in regulating the luminous flux, thereby creating optimal lighting in the interior.

Accordingly, in order to perform all these functions, they must have a number of necessary characteristics:

  1. They should not deform.
  2. Have dust-repellent properties.
  3. Do not fade in the sun.
  4. Maintain its aesthetic qualities for a long time.

The lamella is fastened to the cornice by means of special holders. It should be noted that it is from the material of the stripes, its color and other external characteristics the overall impression of the blinds depends, and in the future, and their harmonious entry into the interior of the room.

Application area

As already mentioned, lamellas are quite widely used in many areas. However, if we talk about blinds, then their main purpose will be interior decoration. We can reliably say about them that this is a proven way to add original and unusual lighting to the design of a room. And in the event that relief and volumetric patterns are applied to the strips of blinds, or they will be endowed with non-standard form and outlines, this will contribute to the appearance of interesting optical illusions when they are completely closed.

It should also be noted that partitions and screens are created from lamellas to revitalize the design of the room. In addition, they are great for dividing a room into different zones... If we are talking about the use of blinds for their intended purpose, then there are options. Recently, many interesting proposals have appeared on the market, such as multi-textured blinds (a combination of fabric, plastic and even metal).

If you need to completely darken the room, you should pay attention to the opaque stripes. If this is a living space and you want to achieve maximum effect comfort, it is better to resort to lamellas made of fabric and wood. But in offices, plastic and metal options have proven themselves perfectly. But under any circumstances, pay attention to the fact whether your choice meets all the characteristics necessary for operation.

Views

The specific features of the slats are directly proportional to the types of blinds in the manufacture of which they are used.

So, the following basic options are known:

Horizontal.

Vertical.

Rolled.

Protective roller blinds.

Slats are the main element for all types of blinds, except for roller blinds. The only exceptions are those where the fabric is replaced with small wooden strips. Depending on the option you choose, the strips of material will be positioned differently.

So, in horizontal blinds, the slats are placed parallel to the floor, and in vertical ones, respectively, perpendicular to it. As for the roller shutters, in them the strips of material (plastic or metal) will be connected in such a way that a single protective sheet is obtained, which is convenient to wind on the shaft.

Materials (edit)

When making slats for blinds, one of the four main materials is usually preferred:

  1. Textile.
  2. Plastic.
  3. Metal (mainly aluminum).
  4. Wood.

Tissue vertical blinds especially loved by our compatriots. Most likely, this is due to the long-term adherence of people to a variety of curtains and curtains. However, as you know, the material can be different. And this is what should be taken into account when choosing such an option.

Several rules apply here:

  1. The denser the material, the more durable it is, less fading and less deformation.
  2. Woven fabrics retain their attractive appearance longer than printed lamellas.
  3. For kitchen the best choice there will be fiberglass fabric blinds, since it does not burn, but only melts.

Of course, the denser and better the fabric, the more expensive such blinds are. But here everyone sets priorities for himself.

Plastic can be considered an almost ideal material. It is easy to use, does not bend and does not particularly fade, and, accordingly, retains its aesthetic qualities for a longer period. In addition, it does not accumulate static and the prices for such blinds are quite affordable. Although here, too, you should not chase cheapness.

Metal isn't all that common, although many of its custom characteristics are commendable. Such blinds are also easy to maintain, do not deform or fade (because they are covered with heat-resistant enamel). However, they are still mainly used only in industrial premises.

Wooden slats can be used in both vertical and horizontal blinds. In addition, recently have become popular roller blinds from bamboo and small strips of wood. Usually they are woven into a single fabric-like fabric. Such popularity is fully justified. After all, wood, despite its high cost, is an absolutely natural and durable material, and you need minimal care for it - you just need to vacuum it.

Advantages and disadvantages

Of course, if you approach the issue of choosing the material for the lamella with special care, then it turns out that any option has its positive and negative sides. And, of course, it is better to know about them in advance.

1. Fabric

Pros:

  1. They create coziness.
  2. They have interesting textures, emphasizing the uniqueness of the design of the room.
  3. Allows to apply prints.
  4. Variety of colors and shades.

Minuses:

  1. Lamellas made of high quality road fabric.
  2. Even with a dust-repellent coating, they get dirty over time.
  3. During cleaning, they are deformed to some extent.

2. Plastic

Pros:

  1. Wide range of colors.
  2. Ease of care.
  3. Do not accumulate static electricity.
  4. Are not deformed.

Minuses: in the case of using low-quality plastic for the manufacture of lamellas, they will turn yellow over time.

3. Wood

Pros:

  1. Environmentally friendly material.
  2. Simple to operate.
  3. Comfortable to the touch material.
  4. Assumes a variety of uses.

Minuses: high cost.

4. Metal

Pros:

  1. Quite easy maintenance.
  2. Do not fade or deform.
  3. The presence of a heat-resistant coating.

Minuses: with gusts of wind, they can thunder.

How to choose the best option

The main thing you have to decide on is the attachment of the blinds. Two options are usually considered:

  1. They are fixed in the window opening.
  2. Or they are overlapped.

With the first option, you do not cut the space of the room and it, naturally, seems larger. However, in this case, your windowsill will be occupied by lamellas, which should rotate freely. The second option - by the type of curtains - leaves free space on the windowsill, and you can use it as an additional useful area(for example, arrange flowers there).

  1. If you decide to attach the blinds inside the window opening, then subtract 2 cm from the measurement of its height so that the lamellas do not touch the window sill.
  2. In a situation where you found it necessary to fix them above the window, then let them be slightly wider than the window opening by 15 cm on each side.
  3. The lamellas should not be on the floor, so subtract another 5 cm from the height measurement, adjusted for that.

The nuances of their discovery should not be neglected. Here you can choose one of the following options:

  1. The slats move apart from the center.
  2. The lamellas move towards the center.
  3. Move towards the control harness.
  4. Are moving away from you.

It is appropriate to remember here not only about personal tastes and preferences, but also about other points, for example, comfort in opening and closing a window, balcony door etc.

Price

Very often, the decisive factor when choosing a blind is its cost. To calculate the required quadrature, you, of course, have to multiply the height of the opening by its width, and the value already obtained by the cost of such a product per square meter.

Speaking about the cost, it should be noted that it will be:

  1. For fabric blinds: $ 5 to $ 40 per sq. m.
  2. For plastic: from $ 14 to $ 20.
  3. For metal: about $ 30 per sq. m.
  4. For wooden: from 66 to 130 $.

The only thing that should not be forgotten is that often domestic materials are cheaper, and, therefore, a product made from them as a whole will be cheaper.

And further. If you decide to use the services of an installer, then your final price for such "shutters" will automatically increase by 10-15%. However, in this situation, you will receive a guarantee not only for the product, but also for its installation.

Care

As already mentioned, it is easiest to care for plastic and metal options... They can be washed, wiped, vacuumed, and metal can even be cleaned with a brush. With wooden things, the situation is a little more complicated: moisture is contraindicated for them, so you can remove dust with dry rags or a vacuum cleaner. As for the fibers that hold them together, they are treated with a dust-repellent substance.

The hardest part is with fabric blinds. Despite the dust-repellent impregnation, they will need cleaning after a year. It should be recalled that fabric lamellas can deform, so the cleaning process should be as delicate as possible.

How to remove slats from blinds

Usually this question arises for the owners of vertical fabric products, at the moment when it becomes obvious that cleaning is inevitable.

If you are one of them, then stick to the following algorithm:

  1. First, remove the lower chain and weights.
  2. Then detach the slats from the runners (the procedure resembles removing the curtains from the hooks).
  3. Roll each strip of fabric you removed and immerse it in a soapy solution.
  4. As a reminder, the lamellas cannot be rubbed (if you wish to avoid deformation), so just let them soak.
  5. After rinsing, hang the still damp strips of fabric back (this will straighten them under their own weight).

WITH horizontal blinds things are a little different, but their slats can also be removed:

  1. Remove the decorative covers before removing.
  2. From above, at the edge of the system, find the clips and remove the lamellas by pulling the plates up (in the meantime, we direct the clips towards ourselves, and then to the right).

However, if such manipulations do not inspire delight in you, you can always use the help of professionals. And, although, usually they are engaged in cleaning lamellas on an industrial scale, as practice shows, a compromise is possible in any matter.
