  • Clamps;
  • Wood glue;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Chisels and hacksaws;
  • Roulette, pencil;
  • Lacquer.

Parts should be cut taking into account the allowances and finishing. The length of the allowance is 2.5, the width is 0.6, and the thickness is 0.15 cm. In carpentry shops, they can immediately cut parts to the required dimensions.

The works are performed in the following sequence:

  1. The drawing is being prepared. It can be presented in the form of a plan drawing on which all the necessary dimensions are applied.
  2. Using a hacksaw, cut a bar. 14 pieces of 70 cm pieces for the table top and 4 pieces of 35 cm for the legs.
  3. Then, on two long parts, an indent is made from the edge on each side (5 cm). To do this, use a hacksaw.
  4. To smooth the unevenness of the bars, use sandpaper. Produce tight joining of parts. Refinement can be made using a chisel or an emery sheet.
  5. Each adjacent side of the bar is treated with glue and glued. Care must be taken to ensure that the tabletop lies flat. There should be no misalignment of parts.
  6. After waiting for the glue to dry, the clamps are removed.
  7. The surface is grinded with a grinding device.
  8. Glue is applied along the ends of each leg and along the grooves.
  9. Each leg fits into a groove. Then they are sanded until the glue is completely dry.
  10. After that, they are varnished, dried and the wheels are screwed in.

For better penetration of the varnish into the wood material, you should add a solvent to it. This method too simple. Even a beginner can handle it. The material used in the manufacture can be the most non-standard, depending on what idea the master wants to bring to life.

A plywood coffee table is produced in a short time. Advice to inexperienced craftsmen: sawing all parts can be ordered at a building materials store. Based on the sheet thickness of 18 mm, we order 800 × 800 mm - a table top, 460 × 100 mm - four strips, 700 × 500 mm - a shelf, 700 × 500 mm - two bottoms, four plastic corners, eight confirmations and self-tapping screws 3.5 × 16 mm (16 should be enough). All elements must be covered with melamine edging.

Making a coffee table with your own hands from scrap materials

Loved by many creative people topic - how to use the materials at hand for practical use... Products made from tires are especially popular - they are conveniently installed in summer cottages and verandas, and from suitcases that have served their time as travelers.

Tire table

There are different ideas on how to use tires as a table. What pleases me is that such products are durable, original and take a minimum of time to manufacture.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to create a garden furniture set with a small table at the top.

IllustrationDescription of action
Prepare 11 tires of the same diameter. We take two tires on the chair and connect them with ourselves using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. We take three tires for the table.
Cut out 4 circles from plywood (pressed shavings) with a size slightly larger than the inner diameter of the tire, and one large circle for the table top.
The result is a cute garden set.

Table-suitcase

Have you got an old suitcase? How wonderful!

So what is needed for such a quick transformation? Four stable legs of any type - the main thing is that they match the final decor and easily support the product. Legs can be bought at Avito or torn from old unnecessary furniture, made on a lathe. White enamel can be used for painting, as it is easy to decorate. But, in general, the color can be any, up to gilding. If the appearance of the suitcase has been preserved perfectly, then it is possible not to paint it. If you wish, you also need PVA glue, decoupage napkins, brushes, sandpaper, gold or silver acrylic.

First, paint the base and let it dry. All irregularities are sanded and a second layer of enamel is applied. Now we paint the legs and, as soon as they dry, glue them with furniture glue to the base. That's all the work! We turn the table over and admire the result of labor.

How to make a do-it-yourself coffee table with additional elements

If the hostess loves rearrangements, or the table must be moved, as additional element wheel supports are attached to the legs. It is very convenient. If the table is small, then it can be served for tea in the kitchen and rolled into the living room. Another additional and functional element is drawers... It turns out that the table becomes doubly more convenient.

Trolley on wheels

To create a do-it-yourself coffee table on wheels, ready-made wheels are required. A small photo gallery of tables on wheels: they may not necessarily be small, large metal or plastic wheels look even more interesting!

The wheels are attached to the legs when the supports themselves are already attached to the table top.

Drawer table

There can be from one to three or four drawers, it depends on the table model.

To assemble a simple drawer, you need 4 small chipboard panels, wood glue, guides, and self-tapping screws.

After fixing all the guides, check the smoothness and accuracy of the stroke. Then we assemble the box and simply insert it into the guides.

Do-it-yourself coffee table decor is limited by the creator's imagination. Any fantasy can be realized with effort. The decor must be matched to the style of the room, otherwise the dissonance will make the thing superfluous. But if you don't want to make a new coffee table with your own hands? The coffee table is an optional piece of furniture. Moreover, its presence makes any living room more comfortable. You can put a newspaper on the table, put a cup of tea or coffee. We will make this piece of furniture ourselves, making it truly original and comfortable.

Low table - a practical interior decoration

The very first coffee table was created in the middle of the 19th century in England. Within a couple of decades, this furniture adorned the living rooms of all European houses. In the 20th century, the fashion for it came to our country. True, in Russia the tables we are interested in are called coffee tables, not coffee tables. But this does not change the essence of the matter. Under such a piece of furniture is meant a small table no more than 40-50 cm high, which can have any ergonomics, look and design. It all depends on the preferences of the consumer.

In furniture stores, low tables are sold in a wide range. You can find both an inexpensive construction and a designer item that can make any interior chic and unusual. But many home craftsmen want to make an original table themselves, using a variety of materials at hand. We put a piece of our soul into homemade furniture. This means that it will turn out to be really comfortable and will be able to fill the home with coziness and warmth.

Coffee tables are made of wood and glass. Also, unusual and beautiful designs can be really assembled from:

  • an old window and ordinary books;
  • unused heating radiator;
  • wooden pallets or boxes;
  • dismantled interior or front door;
  • car tires;
  • wicker basket;
  • coils from the electrical cable.

There are a lot of options for making a table for tea drinking. You just need to show your imagination and listen to advice experienced craftsmen engaged in self-decoration of their homes. Below we will describe the most popular construction methods. coffee tables... And you will stop your choice on the very suitable option.

We make furniture from chipboard - as easy as shelling pears!

Chipboards are the most affordable material to create. Chipboards can be processed without problems, easily cut to the required dimensions, and have an affordable price. For the assembly of low tables, it is recommended to use laminated boards, as they are characterized by an attractive appearance, and the products from them are durable. There are many sites on the Internet where it is not difficult to find various dimensional drawings for making furniture from chipboard. We propose to make a table, focusing on the sketches below.

The structure planned by us consists of the following elements:

  • shelf with dimensions of 500x700 mm;
  • table top 736x736;
  • 4 slats 100x464;
  • 4 plastic corners and the same number of legs (or wheels);
  • 2 bottoms (dimensions of each of them - 500x700);
  • 4 slats 100x464.

We will carry out the fastening of these elements with cofiers, they will need 8 pieces, and 16 3.5x16 mm.

We make the table step by step. First (position 1 on the diagram) we make a shelf from chipboard (preferably, as mentioned, laminated) board. Cutting we produce electric jigsaw using a file with a small step. Such a tool will eliminate the likelihood of chips. Then (position 2) we attach the strips to the tabletop (we put them on the plastic corners). We mount the shelf (pos. 3) in the center of the planks installed vertically. We make holes in it with a cross section of 4.5 mm (you will need a drill with an appropriate drill). We fix the shelf with confirmations. Without them, our tea table may not turn out to be very stable and reliable in operation. Using the confirmations, screw the bottom of the structure (pos. 4).

After that we fasten the legs (pos. 5). They are not attached from the very edges of the table, but departing from them by about 15 mm. Instead of legs, it is allowed to mount small wheels (fixed with self-tapping screws). Then we have a mobile coffee table that can be moved around the house. It remains only to bring homemade furniture to mind. We glue all visible joints of our table with melamine edge. Visually, the construction of laminated chipboard will look perfect! By the way, instead of wood-shaving blanks, you can use MDF (wood-fiber products). The result will be approximately the same.

Glass table - stylish and elegant

The interiors, made in a modern theme, are superbly complemented by compact glass tables. They are installed on wooden or chrome-plated legs. It is desirable to use frosted glass. It usually has a special film that protects the countertop from mechanical damage. In addition, stains from spilled tea, coffee, other drinks and fingerprints will not be so noticeable on frosted glass.

The recommended tabletop width is up to 120 cm. It is not necessary to construct a table with large parameters. It will be difficult to fit into the interior. standard apartment or a small private house. Choose any form of construction. But if you are making a glass coffee table with your own hands for the first time, it is better to stop at a rectangular configuration. We will buy chrome-plated legs in a furniture store. And components made of wood are easy to make yourself. A drawing of a table with standard dimensions is shown below.

Let's get to work. To begin with, we cut out the glass according to the specified geometric parameters. This operation must be performed slowly. Place the glass on a flat surface. We outline the cutting lines with a simple pencil. Wet the glass cutter sunflower oil(or other lubricant). We apply a metal ruler to the outlined line. Carefully (without strong pressure) we go through the markings with a glass cutter. Then we move the glass from the surface, making sure that the extra pieces of material are on the weight. We knock with our fingers along the marking line, lightly press. After these actions, unnecessary parts of the glass break strictly along the lines made.

The trimmed material needs to be processed. First, we clean the edges of the glass with a file, then with a grinder equipped with a diamond tool. Additionally, it is recommended to grind potentially unsafe glass parts with sandpaper (fine grain). Then we take a thin felt, mount it on the edges of the countertop and press it against it. This will protect our furniture from scratches. We turn the table face down. We make marks for the installation of the legs. It is advisable to install them from the edges of the tabletop at a distance of at least 50 mm.

Drill holes at the top of the bases of all legs. You will need them to attach the suction cup. Everything is simple here. We process the suction cups with adhesive, mount them in the prepared holes, press the elements as tightly as possible. After the glue has set, turn over homemade construction to a normal position and wait for about two days. After 48 hours, the coffee table will be ready for use.

We will build a structure made of wood - a win-win option

Wooden tea tables are suitable for any living space, no matter what kind of decor is implemented in them. Wood products look great in classic interiors, and in the most modern ones. Do wooden furniture with your own hands is really simple. Moreover, we can build a table of any design - the simplest one, with many additional drawers, stands, shelves. With the right approach to business, we will get a piece of furniture that is no different from expensive store tables.

We will not offer a drawing of a timber structure. Any craftsman is able to draw up a simple sketch of such a structure with the right dimensions... But let's say a few words about the materials and tools that will be needed to complete the work. Stocking up:

  • with bars or scraps of wood planks (we will make table legs and crossbars from them);
  • two thick boards;
  • varnish and stain;
  • grinder, sandpaper;
  • a saw for wood;
  • glue;
  • with an electric drill.

We start to create. We cut thick boards to the required dimensions to make a tabletop out of them. We connect them with a friend with another glue. We are waiting for the structure to stick together firmly. At this time, we make crossbars and legs from scraps of boards or bars. We give the tabletop the chosen shape. It can be rectangular or square (it's easier this way), but tables with a variety of roundness and bends look better. The tree is easy to handle. With the help of a hacksaw, we can easily create the tabletop of the configuration we need. After that, using a grinder, we carefully process the finished elements. Additionally, we rub their surface with sandpaper.

We apply stain on the countertop, legs, rungs. This composition gives the wood a noble appearance, providing an antiquity effect. The specified elements are treated with a stain completely. We need to apply it not only on the surface, but also on the end parts of the coffee table parts. Nuance. The ends of wood products can be covered with decorative materials, for example, butterflies, which are often used for this purpose.

Next, we attach the crossbars to the tabletop, assembled from two boards. The operation is carried out using glue and round spikes inserted into pre-drilled holes. The latter are drilled into the right places with an electric drill. We fix the legs in the same way: we make holes, grease the spikes with glue, insert them into the grooves. The tea table is ready. We will cover it with varnish so that the structure looks perfect, and we rejoice at the new interior item in the house.

Books, waste paper and an old window - you can even make a table out of them!

As we have already noted, an original coffee table can actually be made from various materials at hand. If you have a lot of old magazines and newspapers, you don't have to throw them away. Let's make an unusual table out of them according to the following scheme:

  1. 1. We turn waste paper into tight tubes.
  2. 2. Fix the resulting blanks with rubber bands.
  3. 3. We immerse the prepared tubes in a bucket filled with an emulsion on a water-polymer basis.
  4. 4. We are waiting for 5-7 minutes.
  5. 5. We take out the soaked paper blanks and hang them on a rope on wire hooks. Drying should be done in a dust-free room. Let's not forget to put under the rope plastic wrap... Streams of water from the waste paper will flow onto it.
  6. 6. From the dried tubes we form a cabinet under a coffee table - we just glue them together (as tightly as possible) with PVA glue.

The created cabinet is usually secured with strong threads and left to dry. Then we trim our homemade table top and bottom. We get a neat bedside table. We glue plain or mirrored glass on top of it using silicone, which is used to repair aquariums. Advice. The glass should have a thickness of 1.2–1.5 cm. Thin tabletops will be unreliable in use. One careless movement and they will crack.

In cases where the old window structure in a dwelling is changed to a new one (for example, to a plastic one), the dismantled product can also be adapted for a coffee table. A minimum of difficulties awaits us. We remove hinges, handles, other accessories from the window, wash the canvas well. Rip off if necessary old layer paint, polish the surface and paint with a fresh compound. Before us is a finished tabletop. You can install it on any legs. A great option is to make them from volumes that are gathering dust on bookshelves in a home for decades.

We fasten the books to each other, forming legs of the required height from them.

The procedure is carried out using superglue. Another option is to drill neat holes in the books and thread a steel bar through them. We install the updated window frame on homemade legs and rejoice at our ingenuity. These coffee tables are good for interiors in retro, vintage, Provence styles. Instead of a window, by the way, it is allowed to use old doors, a mirror or just a large board that did not have a place on the farm.

Furniture for tea parties from pallets and boxes - simple and original

Wooden pallets are products used for the transportation and storage of various goods and cargo. Pallets serve the same function. But they are considered more modern designs... Both the first and the second are ready-made countertops. Low tables are made from them wonderfully well. Moreover, the entire process of making homemade furniture from such products requires a minimum of time and labor from a home craftsman.

We just need to thoroughly clean and wash the pallet, process it with a grinder and sandpaper, paint it in the chosen color. It is not necessary to apply a solid color. Color the table to your liking. Apply any ornaments and symbols to the pallet. And if you wish, you can not paint the workpiece at all, leaving the wood in its natural form. Small chips, scratches, cracks will emphasize the natural texture of the structure.

We install the prepared tabletop on low wooden blocks or on casters. Here you need to understand that the mass of the pallets is quite serious - up to 15-25 kg. Therefore, the wheels and legs for the table from the pallet should be selected correctly. They must be able to withstand the specified load. However, a pallet of sufficient height does not need to be equipped with legs. The design without them will be convenient and reliable.

If there are no pallets at hand, a table can actually be made from any empty wooden boxes. Containers for wine, vegetables, fruits are suitable. From two drawers, you can build a small coffee table, and from four, a spacious structure for gatherings with friends. We collect boxes in square or rectangular furniture. We fasten them together with nails, putty the places where the hardware is installed with a mixture of glue and sawdust. We decorate the structure, cover it with varnish. We get a gorgeous table.

We put a vase or a pot of flowers in the free space between the boxes. You can also cover it with a suitable sheet product. Nuance. Design experts advise making a plastic surface on the countertop if the interior of the home is made in the style of minimalism and modernity. For hi-tech and art deco decors, it is better to use a sheet of polished steel. Country-style interiors are beautifully complemented by wood flooring. And the glass, placed on the table from the drawers, will harmoniously fit into any decor of the room.

More ideas for assembling structures - some more creativity

A massive coffee table can really be built from an old cast iron battery heating. It is enough to tint it a little, install it on strong wheels, and cover it with glass on top (if possible with rounded edges). The functionality of such a design is, of course, in question. She, nevertheless, weighs 60-80 kilograms. But she does not lack originality. Not a single guest of your home will be able to ignore such an unusual piece of furniture.

And car lovers have the opportunity to make a comfortable table from an old tire from their iron horse. Very often tires are used for garden and vegetable garden decoration. But even in the house, with proper preparation, they will look appropriate. To create a table from a tire in the now popular eco-style, you need to stock up on:

Old tire table

  • two circles cut from a plywood sheet (we take their section slightly less than the diameter of the tire used);
  • superglue;
  • cord, plait or decorative rope;
  • varnish;
  • self-tapping screws, electric drill;
  • wheels.

We attach plywood circles to the tire on both sides. Products can be put on superglue or (which is more reliable) on self-tapping screws. If you want your homemade plywood lid to open, one of the circles should be set on small tabs. Then in the tire niche it will be possible to store various household items.

After that, we proceed to decorate the coffee table. We make a small circle from the rope (harness). We coat the middle of the plywood countertop with glue. We carefully fix the rope element on it. In the same way, going from the center to the edges, we decorate the rest of the surface. Then we turn the tire over and continue to braid it on the sides. The bottom of the structure does not need to be decorated. We attach the legs to the bottom sheet (as an option - wheels). The table is ready. It remains to cover it with varnish or a special wax composition.

Dream more daringly! Original tables for tea drinking can be made from other materials at hand. The more creative the craft looks, the more positive emotions you will experience looking at it. Decorate your home with unusual home-made furniture, creating unique interiors. Good luck.

A coffee table is always a flight of imagination. There are practically no restrictions on how a coffee table should look, what design, shape, height, dimensions it should have. This greatly facilitates the task, the main thing is that this piece of furniture harmoniously fits into the overall design of the room. Nevertheless, many people want the coffee table to be an original, exclusive, unique element of the interior. You don't have to search long for this finished goods in stores, you can take courage and make a table with your own hands. Many questions may arise: how to make a coffee table yourself, what materials to use, which form to choose, and others, in this article we will present several instructions for making coffee tables to choose from without spending a lot of effort, energy and finance.

The most popular materials for coffee tables are wood and glass. Of course, there are also plastic tables, and metal, and with stone elements, but still the classics and the charm of natural wood outweigh the scales to the side. wooden products... Glass coffee tables look advantageous in hi-tech or other rooms that involve the use of interior items in light colors. That is why we will only consider glass and wooden models tables. Coffee table height depends on the interior, which he will have to fit into. For example, with low sofas and armchairs, coffee tables with a height of 25 - 30 cm to 50 cm will look advantageous. If the furniture around has standard sizes, then the table should be of such a height that it is convenient to use it - so that you do not have to bend too low or stretch too high while sitting on the couch. The standard height of a coffee table is 50 - 65 cm. Tables with a height of more than 70 cm are considered high and are not suitable for all interiors, only where they will be used while standing. In the examples below, there will be tables from the first two categories, as well as one model that can be made in any height, including more than 70 cm.

The simplest coffee table to make can rightfully be called a table made of wooden boxes. Such a table can be made from old or new ready-made wine boxes, but if they are not there, and there is no opportunity to purchase either, then it can be made from wooden slats or plywood. For example, fit wooden planks 7 to 20 cm wide and 15 to 20 mm thick. If you want to make from plywood, then keep in mind that it must be sanded, 30 cm wide and 60 cm long. In addition to wooden materials, you will need self-tapping screws, fastening angles, furniture wheels, stain and varnish.

Option 1. A coffee table made of ready-made boxes.

Ready-made wine boxes are good because they greatly facilitate the task, in fact, it is enough to install them correctly, fasten them together and put them on wheels:

  • The first step is to make a frame for the table. He will create additional support and will increase the strength of the structure. It will also be possible to attach wheels to the frame so that the table can be moved around the room. For the manufacture of the frame, you will need a beam or board 40x100 mm. Since the shape of the coffee table will be square, the frame should be 4 beams knocked together in a square, and 5 beams should be fixed in the middle, as shown in the figure.

  • The dimensions of the frame must exactly match external dimensions future table. Cut off two long boards and two short boards. We put long boards parallel to each other, insert short boards between them, resting their ends against the transverse boards. You should get an even figure. Then we grease the ends of the short boards with glue, press them against the long boards. Then, from the inside of the resulting square, we fasten the boards together with the help of corners and self-tapping screws or screws. We also glue the fifth board inside the square and fix it with self-tapping screws.

  • We put boxes in the design of the future table. We connect them together with self-tapping screws. The side walls of the drawers must be screwed to the slats of the bottom of the adjacent drawer. There should be at least two fasteners for the side wall - one at the top and the other at the bottom.
  • We install the boxes on the frame and fasten them to it with self-tapping screws.

  • We attach furniture wheels of a suitable size to the frame.
  • Preparing a mixture for painting the table, if we want to make it darker. If a light coffee table is also suitable, then it is enough to open it with varnish. After painting, the surface of the table must be sanded, including from the inside.
  • We open the coffee table with varnish and leave to dry. The number of layers of varnish depends on what effect we want to achieve. The more layers, the more glossy the surface and the less visible the structure of the wood.

Instead of varnish, you can use satin polyurethane, then the surface of the wood will be satin.

Option 2. Coffee table "boxes" made of plywood.

Such a table can be made completely from start to finish, spending money only on the purchase of 2 sheets of polished plywood, self-tapping screws, wood glue or PVA glue. For greater strength and similarity with real wooden boxes the thickness of the plywood should be 15 - 20 mm. For such a coffee table, the price will be lower than for a table made of wooden boards. So let's get started:

  • First, we cut the narrow side walls of the boxes from plywood, they must be deaf. For 4 drawers, there should be 8 walls 400 mm high and 300 mm wide. The cut should be straight, so it is better to use a jigsaw.

  • We grind the edges of the side walls of the boxes, remove the burrs.
  • Since the wide side walls of the boxes and their bottom are slats that are located with gaps, the next step is to make sections or slats for the walls of the boxes. We cut the plywood into strips 100 mm wide and 600 mm long. The gaps between the slats are purely decorative, so if you have chosen other sizes for the boxes, then calculate the location of the sections and optimal distance between them (5 - 10 mm).

  • For each long side wall of a box 300 mm wide, 3 sections 95 mm wide and 600 mm long are required. If you do not plan to make gaps, then 100 mm wide strips can be used. In total, 24 such strips are needed for 4 boxes.
  • For the bottom section of each box with a width of 400 mm, 4 sections with a width of 95 - 100 mm and a length of 600 mm are required. For 4 drawers, 12 bottom strips are required.
  • On all strips, on the narrow side, we drill two holes with a diameter of 4 mm for fixing to the side walls.
  • The next step is the assembly of the boxes. We coat the ends of the side plywood walls with joiner's glue or PVA glue. Then we attach the strips to them, screwing them with self-tapping screws. We recessed the caps of the self-tapping screws in the wood so that they can be hidden with the finish.

  • Each box must have the following dimensions: height 300 mm, width 400 mm, length 600 mm. Having installed these boxes in the figure, as in the photo, we get an extravagant table. We connect the boxes to each other with self-tapping screws, pulling the side narrow walls with the walls of the adjacent box.
  • To make the structure even more durable, we make a square frame for it from a wooden bar or board, as described in the previous version.

  • The free space in the middle, between the boxes, can be left as it is, or it can be made less deep. To do this, a piece is cut out of plywood, repeating the dimensions of the hole, then the piece is inserted into the free space and fixed at about half the height of the box. Now it will be possible to fall asleep on top of some kind of decorative material or put a vase.
  • We cover all the caps from the screws with furniture mastic or putty. Then we grind the surface of the boxes.
  • We open the plywood with varnish (alkyd or polyurethane) in several layers.

The coffee table is ready. Please note that thinner plywood, for example 6-10 mm thick, can be used for the planks. The product will turn out to be not very durable, but more like boxes.

DIY carved wooden coffee table

This instruction is useful for those who have a lathe, milling, grinder, clamps and other tools in their arsenal. Of the materials, you will need a wooden beam 50x50 mm and wooden boards 25 mm thick, and 45 mm to 10-15 cm wide, Titebond-2 joiner's glue.

Making a leg for a table

Since we decided to make the coffee table round, we only need one leg. For its manufacture, we take a beam of 50x50 mm and glue it along with each other. To do this, you need Titebond-2 wood glue and clamps or clamps. Please note that one bar should not be used for the leg. required thickness, the product will be more durable if you glue two beams of smaller thickness into one.

  • The coffee table leg will be carved to resemble stair balusters. We attach the required profile to the glued blank on a lathe.

  • Grinding the surface of the table leg.
  • We cut out the eyelets in the legs for fixing the supports - the side legs. It is best to make the eyelets in the square part of the leg, one on each edge. The depth of the lugs is about 1 cm.

  • The side legs are only cut from solid board required width and thickness, gluing is not allowed, and there should be no knots or cracks. We cut out 4 blanks and grind them thoroughly. We mill the edges with a semicircular cutter.

  • The side legs should fit snugly into the eyelets of the main vertical leg. If the shape is chosen correctly, then there is no need to cut thorns on the side legs, the entire side leg will be a thorn.
  • In the upper part of the riser - the vertical leg, select the through holes for the cross with a mill.

  • We make a cross from boards 45 mm wide, 19 mm thick, the length depends on the size of the table top. The ends of the cross should rest against the future underframe.

  • We glue the cross into the hole in the upper part of the vertical leg.

The leg is almost ready, so let's move on to the underframe.

Making the underframe and fixing it to the leg

For a round coffee table, a hexagon-shaped underframe is perfect. For its manufacture we will use wooden boards 20 mm thick and 45 mm wide.

  • We cut the blanks so that they form a strong hexagon.
  • We carefully grind the surface and glue the blanks together.
  • To make the decorative edging of the underframe, glue wooden planks with rounded edges along the contour of the underframe.
  • We fix the base to the cross using self-tapping screws 65 mm long.

Making a round table top

The next step is a round table top. To make it, you need a furniture board. In this case, the table top was glued from two furniture boards 300 mm wide. The hardest part is to cut an even circle. To do this, it is necessary to determine the center of the future countertop, fix a nail in it, and plant something like a compass on the nail. For example, a piece of plywood of the required length will do. During cutting, the cutter rests on the edge of the plywood, and the circle is flat.

The round table top for the coffee table is carefully sanded and the edge is processed with a router.

Coffee table assembly and surface treatment

Do not attach the countertop directly to the underframe. In the process of thermal deformation, it can crack along the seam. Therefore, so-called crackers are used for fixing. First, we make crackers, as shown in the photo. Then, in the cross, we cut out the holes for them with a cutter.

We install the tabletop on the underframe and the leg with the cross. For convenience, we turn the structure over and align the arrangement of the elements. Then we insert the crackers into the holes in the crosspiece and fasten the crackers to the tabletop with self-tapping screws.

The coffee table is ready - all that remains is to open it with varnish. To do this, the surface of the entire product is sanded again, then a stain is applied, after it dries, it is sanded again, since it is necessary to remove the raised pile. Now you can open it with varnish. After the varnish has dried under normal conditions, the table can be used.

Do-it-yourself coffee tables from wooden euro pallets

Wood coffee tables come in a wide variety of configurations and sizes. And recently, pallet tables have been especially popular. Material costs are minimal, and the end result depends only on the imagination of the person who makes the table. In this case, the whole secret is in the decoration. The choice of color, pattern, decor completely changes the look of the table. And this is hidden advantage- it is enough to update the finish of the coffee table from the pallet, and it already looks like a new interior design.

So, first of all, the wooden pallet must be carefully sanded, removing burrs. Then open with varnish or paint in a single color (white, green, blue). Please note that the entire pallet must be painted: both above and below, and where it seems to you that no one sees. You can also apply a pattern.

After processing, it is only necessary to attach furniture wheels of the appropriate size to the pallet. 4 castors are fixed in the corners of the pallet with screws.

Further decor of the coffee table from the pallet depends on the wishes and imagination of the owner. Inside the pallet, you can arrange books in beautiful catchy covers or albums. If you want to put pebbles or other decorative stones, then the pallet needs to be modified. To do this, even before fixing the furniture wheels from the bottom of the pallet, it is necessary to fix a sheet of plywood exactly to the size of the pallet. It will also have to be painted or varnished so that it does not stand out against the general background.

Now our pallet has a bottom, so decorative materials can be poured inside, which will be visible through the slots in the top cover - the pallet tabletop.

For those who love glass coffee tables, the design can be modified by placing on top wooden pallet glass tabletop and secured with Velcro / suction cups or special nails. It is no longer scary to put a cup of coffee without a tray, a vase of flowers on such a table, and it is easier to take care of it. Even if something accidentally spills, the glass is easy to clean and wipe off.

The next simple version of the coffee table, which combines wood and glass elements, is a table made of logs. It is unlikely that you will be able to buy a log in a regular store, so you will have to go to the sawmill and choose a suitable block of wood. Make sure that the wood is not infected with bugs or mold. It is advisable in the same place, at the sawmill, to cut the log to the required height, since it is difficult to do this at home.

After buying a block, its surface is sanded, and then it is covered with varnish, stain or oil. Sometimes the logs are painted in a dark bronze color or another shade that suits the interior design.

After the varnish or paint has dried, a round glass tabletop is attached to the block using special suction cups or nails. The resulting coffee table will resemble a mushroom with a transparent cap.

DIY glass coffee table

As you've probably already noticed, glass elements in coffee tables are mainly countertops. Legs can be made from any suitable material- wood, metal, plastic. For example, you can purchase ready-made metal legs in a store. furniture fittings, order a tabletop of the required size and assemble a glass coffee table at home.

The legs and glass table top are usually fastened with special suction cups or nails. And even a model of a wooden table on one curly leg, the instructions for the manufacture of which are described above, may well have a glass tabletop rather than a wooden one.

To make the product look beautiful, it will be necessary to grind the crosspiece and the underframe, and also fix the tabletop not with crackers, but with bolts on glass or metal corners. It is also possible to fix the glass tabletop with transparent glue, the excess of which must be carefully removed.

Note that the glass top is heavier than the wood, so it should rest on a sturdy underframe and leg. Also, the very design of the coffee table can be such that the glass will be firmly held on it without additional fastening. For example, if a niche is provided under the glass, into which it fits.

A do-it-yourself coffee table is easy to make on your own using scrap materials or buying accessories at a furniture store. The work is dust-free and takes no more than 2 days. Making a wooden coffee table with carved legs is possible only with the help of special lathe carpentry equipment.

Making furniture with your own hands is not only a great way to save money, but also an opportunity to put your creativity into practice!

It's about making coffee tables with your own hands. There are never too many side tables. They can be placed next to the sofa to place a vase of flowers or a mug of tea, used as a bedside table or as a stand for pots of indoor plants. However, monotonous wooden tables are unlikely to revive a dull interior. I want something stylish and unexpected ...

Stylish table made of wooden slats with your own hands

This bench can serve as a coffee table, extra seating, or a place to place houseplants. Such a piece of furniture will "fit" well into almost any interior!

Materials:

Instruments:

Step one: Use a hacksaw to cut the ends of two 2.5 x 7.5 cm planks at a 45 degree angle. Cut out fragments from 2.5 × 5 cm blocks, the length of which will correspond to the inner length of 2.5 × 7.5 cm of the workpieces.

how to make a coffee table with your own hands. Photo

Step two: Place a 2.5 x 5 cm piece in the middle and 2.5 x 7.5 cm at the edges. Make sure the ends of the inner rails are aligned.

Step three: Measure the distance between the outermost 2.5 × 7.5 cm blocks and cut two pieces of this length from the 2.5 × 10 cm board. They will serve as a bench lower supports... Secure them by screwing self-tapping screws into each longitudinal rail.

Step four: Using the Kreg Jig, drill two pocket holes at each end of the support rails. These holes will be used to connect to the 2.5 x 7.5 cm edge bars.

Tip: It is difficult to give specific guidelines on how far from the edge to attach the Kreg Jig. It depends on the length of the screws used, the exact thickness of the board, etc. We advise you to first practice on unnecessary trims of the boards.

an unusual coffee table with your own hands. Photo

Step five: Place the 2.5 x 7.5 cm blank around the edges of the structure. After making sure that their ends are flush, secure them with clamps.

Tip: If you are using soft wood (such as pine) to make your table, place unnecessary board trimmings under the clamps. V otherwise clip marks will remain on the wood.

Step six: Securely attach the outermost 2.5x7.5cm bars to the base of the bench by screwing 3.5cm screws into the countersunk holes that you made a little earlier at the ends of the support rails.

Step seven: Measure the width of the base you made to determine how long you need to cut 2.5 x 7.5 cm for the end of the bench. We recommend that you take a sip with a small margin in length, and then slowly grind off the excess until you achieve a perfect fit.

Step eight: Moisten the ends of all planks with water and do not apply a large number of glue Gorilla Glue.

Step nine: Place the end boards in their intended place and wrap the entire structure with a strap so that it does not fall apart while the glue is dry. For reliability, you can additionally fix the ends with several finishing studs.

Step ten: Sand the surface of the bench with 120-grit sandpaper to eliminate any unevenness in the seams. Fill all gaps in the seams and grooves from the nail heads (the latter must be sunk into the wood) with putty. When the filler is dry, sand the surface again, this time with 220-grit sandpaper.

Step eleven: Paint the bench. We advise you to sand the surface again with 400 grit sandpaper and water before painting.

Step twelve: On the lower support rails, fit the special mounting plates to secure the legs. When securing them, make sure that you drill holes in places where the screws already screwed in are not located. The distance from the anchorage to the edge of the bench base should be about 2.5 cm. Screw the legs into the anchorages.

Copper pipe coffee table. Master Class

The material for making the next table is perhaps the most unexpected. This time we decided to tell you how to make a table with our own hands from ... copper pipes.

Materials and tools:

The illustration below shows all parts (pipes (A-E) and various fittings (F-H)) with their dimensions and quantities. All that remains for you is to take it in your hands pipe cutter and sit in front of the TV, which will brighten up the tedious process of cutting a little. It's not difficult, just a little boring. 😉

When all the blanks are ready, you can start assembling the bottom of the table. How to do this is shown in the figure.

Having collected the lower tier, you can proceed to the upper one. The only parts not listed in the parts list are four 2.5 cm long pipe pieces that fit in tees at the top of the corner posts. You will not be able to put on decorative caps without these inserts. the latter have the same diameter as the tees.

A reliable connection of the tubes to each other will ensure glue, but we recommend applying it only after preliminary assembly of the structure, i.e. after making sure that all the cut tubes are of the correct length and fit well together.

Wooden shelves, which you can pre-paint if you wish, are secured with special clips that are placed on the underside of each board. You are now ready to decorate your home with a new DIY table!

DIY lightweight cement table

Countertops and other interior elements made of concrete are becoming more and more popular lately. However, for all their attractiveness, they are not devoid of a number of disadvantages. First, pouring large quantities of concrete can sometimes be quite expensive. Secondly, when it comes to small side tables, another serious problem comes to light - such furniture turns out to be too heavy. On the one hand, there is a desire to get a good solid thing, on the other hand, I want to be able to move a table made with my own hands without the help of professional loaders. The solution found can be considered an insight.

Materials and tools:

Step one: Mark and cut out the Styrofoam sheet. You can cut 18 40x40 cm squares from a 120x240 cm piece.Laying them on top of each other, you get a 40x40x45 cm parallelepiped.

do-it-yourself styrofoam table. Photo

Step two: Glue the cut pieces. 3M Super 77 Aerosol Adhesive is ideal for this. This step is best done outdoors. Remember to wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt. Apply an even layer of glue to one side of the first square, then do the same for the second. Wait ~ 15 seconds, then connect the squares, making sure their edges are aligned. Repeat this until all the square blanks are connected into a single whole. Wait about 30 minutes before proceeding to step 3.

Step three: Now the most interesting thing ... giving the resulting parallelepiped the outlines of the future table. We decided to make a table in the shape of a cylinder. You can come up with something more original or, on the contrary, keep the original block with right angles. Cutting foam is easy and fun. Your design will look rough and angular at first, but don't worry! After the table has been assigned desired shape, it's time to grind. Using 36-grit sandpaper will quickly smooth out any unevenness. As you approach the ideal, gradually move to sandpaper with more small size grains. Do not strive to achieve a super-smooth surface, at this stage it is important for you to achieve only the desired shape.

Step four: The surface of the future table has been sanded, the time has come to cement it. The first layer, applied all over the foam mold, will fill the voids and texture of the foam. You only have ~ 20 minutes, so act quickly so you have time to smooth out the bumps. When the applied grout is dry, you can apply the next coat. The number of layers depends on how smooth and even the surface you want to have in the final (usually four to five layers are required). It should be remembered that the smoother the surface of the final layer before it dries, the less it will have to be sanded!

Tip: When preparing the grout, follow the manufacturer's instructions. You should not prepare more mortar than you need to apply one layer (for example, we used 220 ml of water and 450 g of cement). Make sure you don't forget to cover the surface of your workbench or workshop floor, as this is a messy job.

Step five: After the final cement layer has dried, you can sand the surface if desired. We wanted to achieve a glossy finish, at least on the top of the table, so we sanded it with a range of grit sandpaper ranging from 100 to 2000.

Tip: If you are planning this operation, get a protective mask that will help you keep your lungs free from cement dust.

(The table made in this project turned out to be very strong and sturdy, but at the same time it weighed no more than a kilogram.)

Diy stump table

The material for the next table is sometimes literally lying underfoot. Even residents of megalopolises, if they wish, can find a suitable stump.

log table. Photo

Materials and tools:

  • wooden block;
  • white acrylic paint;
  • hand sander;
  • chisel;
  • hammer;
  • decorative upholstery nails;
  • molar tape.

Step one: Find a table base! It should not be an old rotten stump, but a freshly sawn block of wood. Let it dry for at least 6 months (there is nothing worse than waiting, but it must be done) until the bark begins to separate from the trunk.

Step two: Using a chisel, gently clean the bark from the block with downward movements. If the stump is dry enough, you don't have to use too much force to do this.

Step three: Using a sander with medium-grit sandpaper, sand the surface to remove any residual bark and smooth out sharp corners. Remember to sand the bottom and top cuts. Wipe the wood with a damp cloth.

Step four: It's time to paint. We used a white semi-gloss paint that includes a primer (for full coverage we needed to apply three coats). You can choose a different type and color of paint, focusing solely on your taste. Do not forget to prime the wood surface beforehand. Make sure you don't forget to cut the bottom cut.

Step five: Prepare decorative nails. Along the top edge of the side surface of the block, stick a strip of masking tape, thereby marking the place where the first row of nails will be located.

Step six: Use a hammer to hammer in the first row of decorative nails. To ensure that the distance from them to the upper edge is the same throughout the "line" of the nails, use the strip of masking tape you glued earlier as a guide. After the first row is completed, repeat the same with the second and third row of nails (we needed almost 150 nails for three rows).

Tip: Tap the bottom surface of the stump with furniture felt so that you can move the table around the room without damaging the flooring.

The work is done. You can use your new piece of furniture and be proud to have made this adorable do-it-yourself coffee table.
