ADVANTAGES OF FOAM CRAWL

It is ideal for floor slabs and uneven surfaces in the voids of walls, partitions between walls, floors, underground, attics (on logs, boards and other materials), where it is inconvenient to lay slabs, and is also used instead of expanded clay.

High-quality foam chips have many advantages! The main advantages of the material include:
Environmental friendliness - does not contain substances harmful to humans. For example, from polystyrene, from which foamed granules are produced, packaging for various products and dishes are made.
Resistance to various weather conditions - effectively protects surfaces from moisture.
Excellent thermal insulation properties - foam balls differ in different diameters and shapes. As a result, the total area of contact of the foamed granules with air increases, so the material is excellent for insulation various premises and objects.
Excellent sound insulation - the material is distinguished by excellent indicators of wave absorption. It is often added to cement and poured into cavities during renovation or construction.
Durability - the foamed granules do not change shape, physical or Chemical properties under the influence of changes in temperature or humidity.

The foam granule, due to its structure and properties, is considered a reliable and inexpensive packaging material: it is actively used to protect especially fragile products.

Blowing with foam chips is one of those services that our company has been offering to its customers for several years now. This is done for heat and sound insulation of residential, office and industrial premises... V last years this method of insulating houses has gained great popularity due to the fact that there is a stable increase in prices for utilities, and the cost of the insulation itself is relatively low, and allows you to save a significant amount of money in the future.

This method of insulation is great for ceilings between walls, uneven surfaces and voids, partitions between walls, floor insulation, basement, attic, any places where laying sheet insulation impossible.

The house is insulated with polystyrene foam using a special industrial installation under pressure. Due to the large air flow, the foam ball of various diameters is evenly laid and compacted in the voids - almost to the density of the foam sheet. Under the influence of pressure, the material clogs up all the unevenness of the walls, cracks, potholes, thereby not giving the cold the slightest chance to penetrate into the room. It is also possible to carry out pneumatic laying of such bulk heat-insulating materials as perlite, ecowool, etc.

Warming with crumb

The advantages of using this material:

  • Warming with crumb gives a kind of "thermos" effect, due to which a comfortable temperature is achieved inside the room and the absence of its drops;
  • Insulation with foam crumbs is much cheaper than mineral wool (by about 35-40%);
  • The material itself is absolutely non-toxic to humans, does not emit harmful substances neither immediately, nor after a while;
  • Rodents do not start in loose foam balls;
  • It has good vapor permeability - which means that the vapors escape freely, and the movement of air between what is inside and outside is free. This will save the walls from the appearance of such unpleasant signs damage to the material, like fungus or mold, which in itself is very harmful. That is why the criterion of wall insulation with foam plastic will not harm.

In our country, there are many private houses that were built according to the same principle - they all have a fairly wide air gap between inner walls and external (the so-called "well" masonry). Our company will help you turn this feature of your building into its main trump card! In the voids between the walls, we blow out foam crumbs, crushed basalt wool, perlite, etc., thus, the house becomes not only protected from heat loss, but also acquires additional sound insulation.

Warming with foam crumbs

Foam insulation, namely the blowing of inter-wall voids, occurs as follows: holes with a diameter of 35 mm are drilled in the walls (for comparison, this hole is slightly more than a five-kopeck coin), their number can vary from 5 to 10 pieces, depending on the area of the wall insulation. Highly important point- the minimum layer for pneumatic laying of the foam ball should be 3 centimeters. After all the holes are made, foam balls of different calibers are blown into the cavity under a strong pressure of air and compacted. The procedure is repeated until all cavities are filled with material.

Thermal insulation with foam outside occurs in three to four hours, it can be performed regardless of the season. Most often, work of this kind is carried out in spring, summer or autumn, however, if necessary, we also carry out during the winter cold weather, there is no strict reference to the time of year.
Our company has been working in the field of thermal insulation of buildings for over a decade. We have acquired a wealth of experience and valuable skills. All this allows us to assert that it is profitable, fast, reliable to cooperate with us!

Foam crumbs are polymerized rounded balls with a diameter of 3 to 7mm. Crushed foam (this is often called given view crumbs) is obtained by the method of industrial crushing of industrial foam waste. Economically, this method is more efficient, since thanks to this method of processing foam plastic, it becomes cheaper as a primary material, and the initial properties of the foam during crushing remain the same.

Application of foam crumbs:

Expanded polystyrene chips are widely used in the industrial and construction and repair areas. The foam crusher is mainly used as construction material and excellent insulation. Thermal insulation with foam crumbs is considered the most economical and reliable method for thermal insulation of foundations, floors, walls or roofs. Let's consider the basic principles and methods of use:

  • Filler: holes and cavities in ceilings between walls, in brickwork or for leveling surfaces are poured with foam chips. Due to their technical characteristics, the foam granules can take any shape, which avoids any cold bridges. High strength allows you to avoid deformation, in contrast to such heaters as expanded clay and mineral wool.
  • Floor screed with foam crumbs: the process of preparing polystyrene concrete takes place in several stages. Initially, a solution is prepared: take a small amount of water and cement, mix until a creamy consistency is obtained. The second stage: continuing to mix the solution in a concrete mixer, add foam crumbs. The material ratio depends on the expected thermal insulation result. The higher the percentage of foam granules, the greater the thermal insulation properties of your screed. However, it is necessary to take into account the following, if the material is not properly distributed, the density may decrease. For example, if you are planning linoleum on the floor, the percentage of use of foam granules should be less than when laying parquet.

If you yourself want to make a floor screed with foam chips at home, then to obtain a solution, you must observe the following proportion (* recommendations of builders):

  • 4-5 buckets of expanded polystyrene crumbs
  • 2 buckets of sand
  • 1 bucket of cement
  • 1 bucket of water

It is important to note that when working with expanded polystyrene crumbs, it is necessary to adhere to the norms of use and observe safety precautions: avoid open fire, do not use various chemical solutions.

A crumb of styrofoam - effective material for insulation of concrete floors, it will last a very long time and will not lose its operational properties. Comfort and warmth guaranteed!

Int-Deco offers to buy foam crumbs in Kiev or with delivery across Ukraine. Crushed polystyrene foam is packed in polyethylene bags of 0.33 m3.

Foam crumb for insulation

Foam crumbs can be considered one of the most popular materials for insulation. The choice of consumers is justified, since it is a high-quality, environmentally friendly clean material, which will help to make the house warm and comfortable without significant damage to family budget.

Foam crumb properties and applications

Foam crumbs have a number of advantages over others thermal insulation materials.

Foam crumb - what is it

Foam chips or granules are bulk material, which is noted for its versatility and is foam balls with a diameter of about 5-6 mm.

Characteristics and properties of foam crumbs

Foam granules have all the properties of a solid sheet, but unlike foam boards, granules can take the form of any container where they are placed. Expanded polystyrene granules have a number of features:

1 Almost does not conduct heat. Polyfoam is tens of times higher than the thermal insulation of conventional concrete and almost ten times ceramic brick.

2 Safe for people, does not contain toxic substances, does not cause allergic reactions, odorless, no organisms live in it.

3 Low weight. For comparison, 1 cubic meter foam crumb weighs about 15 kg and plywood about 500 kg.

4 Wear resistance. Data from laboratories that test polystyrene foam will determine the durability of the material - about 80 years.

5 Very resistant to temperature changes and can withstand drops from -170 to +90.

6 Sound insulation due to the elasticity of granules, cellular structure, which reduce sound vibrations.

7 Ability to restore its original shape during deformation.

8 Ensuring air exchange of the surrounding space, i.e. unlike regular polystyrene, granules are able to "breathe". This prevents the greenhouse effect and future mold growth.

Foam crumbs are characterized by the following criteria

1 Density of the material from which the balls are made. The high density of the substance determines the increase in the mass and strength of the granule.

2 The diameter of the granules can be varied from 1 to 8 mm by setting right size when crushing.

3 Flammability. That is why this material is used in the inner layers of walls. To increase the fire resistance, a fire retardant is added to the foam. After that, the material becomes self-extinguishing.

Pros of foam crumbs

All materials have their own advantages and disadvantages. Foam granules are no exception.

You can highlight the following advantages in using foam crumbs:

Less weight of the final structure.

Savings on further finishing materials due to heat and sound insulation properties.

Simplicity in the process.

Low cost.

Cons of using foam chips

The soft structure of the foam makes the screed made of such a solution less wear-resistant.

The need for isolation from air due to its flammability. Foam concrete is capable of rapid destruction if it comes into contact with air.

Varieties of foam crumbs

There are two ways to obtain granules from polystyrene and, accordingly, two types of them:

Primary treatment, when a special technology is applied to expand the polystyrene beads. This is an expensive process.

Crushing foam waste. This is a secondary production, therefore, it is more economically profitable. The rest of the foam is placed in special machines that crush the material to homogeneity. If necessary, you can set the desired ball diameter.

The cost of foam granules

The efficiency of foam crumbs was noted as quality material for insulation compared to others. Depending on the characteristics of the foam granules and the method of their production, the price per cubic meter can vary significantly. The smaller the granule diameter, the higher its price. Foam chips obtained by crushing are significantly cheaper than those obtained by primary foaming.

The use of foam granules in various fields

Foam crumbs insulate attics, walls, interfloor ceilings and the floor.

1 Insulation of the attic. The room loses a significant percentage of heat through the roof. Styrofoam granules great option insulation of the attic due to the low degree of moisture absorption and resistance to temperature extremes.

2 Wall insulation. In addition to the main characteristics, foam crumbs take the form of a container in which it is located, this is especially important when insulating a facade with curly elements.

3 Insulation floor slabs... Sound insulation and the specific weight of the final structure are important in the formation and insulation of interfloor floors. Foam crumbs are also useful for floor insulation if there is a basement under the house that is not heated and is required additional insulation.

Brief summary

Consumer interest in foam granules is justified by its versatility and low price. Due to its unique properties, foam crumbs are in demand in many areas from construction and furniture manufacturing to creative process design decorations and fishing.

The cost of foam granules depends on technical characteristics the granules themselves and the method of their production.

Leveling the ceiling using "warm" plaster based on expanded polystyrene chips

Leveling the ceiling by applying thick layers of plaster is not always justified: you will need to attach a reinforcing mesh, and if there is a significant difference in the level of the ceiling, the layer will not withstand and collapse. Adding polystyrene foam balls to the plaster will help you in this case, as well as when repairing walls, masonry in a well, joints of external panels of the house and internal slabs floors, attics, roofs and floors. When connecting balls of expanded polystyrene with cement-sand or concrete mortar, the ready-made mixture perfectly keeps warm inside the room.

To work with the ceiling, we need the same tools as for ordinary plastering and at least two plastic buckets.

After cleaning the ceiling from old layers, we carefully prime the ceiling using a "fur" roller. For concrete slabs Primer "Betonokontakt" is suitable. Complex and hard-to-reach places prepare the ceiling several times with a brush.

The drying time of the primer is printed on the packaging - from different manufacturers different time from 3 to 8 hours. Experienced craftsmen never adhere to the recommendations for curing, but try the surface by touch. If the ceiling is still wet, then it is worth waiting, otherwise the alignment of the ceiling will be in vain - the further layer will collapse in a few weeks.

Polymeric plaster mortar prepared from Stayrobond glue in a 1: 1 ratio to M400 cement in a bucket. Stir everything with a drill with a mixer attachment until smooth, gradually adding water until the “sour cream” is thick. If the mixture seems too thick to you, it is allowed to add a little water to it.

Now we add polystyrene foam, moreover, you have 2 options: use ready-made crumb, which is sold in hardware stores by weight, or take regular stove foam and crumble it over the bucket. The crumb fills a separate clean bucket 75%, then add half of the first bucket adhesive solution that you just cooked. The proportion of the crumb solution will be somewhere around 1: 2.5. Stir the composition until all the expanded polystyrene granules are colored in dark color.

If your screed (cement + sand) is too high, then it is better to refuse unnecessary overloading of floor slabs, and use an easier material - expanded polystyrene concrete. Its composition is simple: cement not lower than M400, expanded polystyrene balls and saponified wood resin foaming agent (SDO). Leveling the ceiling with expanded polystyrene concrete makes the layer not only light and warm, but also not prone to shrinkage and cracks.

Table 1. Methods for the manufacture of expanded polystyrene concrete
Description Advantages disadvantages
"Encapsulation" when it is necessary to reduce the density of the material. The granules are covered with cement glue and the voids are not filled with sand. No specials equipment and chem. additives such a mixture is impossible to prepare! Possibility of production of PS concrete, the density of which is less than 200 kg / m3, the use of granules of the same size The mixture delaminates when pumped or transported, low flexural strength (in case of block)
"Porization" of the solution, which implies the replacement of sand with air granules Possibility of production of PS concrete, the density of which is less than 300 kg / m3, and the change in this indicator in a wide range A stable characteristic is rather difficult to obtain due to the complexity technological process: bubbles are lost when stacked, transported or pumped
Creation of PS concrete with a high density structure, which will not let water through even at a pressure of 2 MPa All the advantages of the 2nd method + stability and preservation of their characteristics during transportation, spraying. Products are even formed from such PS concrete using a 3D vibrating machine. Mandatory is the presence of special equipment

Leveling the ceiling with plaster with expanded polystyrene requires the presence of a LMS in the form of a powder or solution, but if you do not find it in your store, then you can do without it. A screed without LMS will not be as warm and light as with this additive, but better than a conventional screed made of cement and sand.

We apply plaster to the prepared ceiling in two passes. The first stage is a layer of 1 bucket (thickness up to 3 mm), then immediately apply the mixture from 2 buckets. The ironer is constantly wetted with water. Drying time - 3 days, after which we transcend to leveling the ceiling with gypsum putty from 1 to 5 layers. Each layer should dry well before applying the next one (1-3 days).

Insulating a house is profitable, fast and reliable - POSSIBLE

How to insulate a house? - a question that asks itself almost every inhabitant of Melitopol and the region, living in a private house.

The topic of insulation is especially relevant today, when prices for energy resources are growing, and with them the cost of communal apartments. In addition, all people who live in an uninsulated house are aware of other unpleasant problems: cold walls, fungus, poor sound insulation, loss of heat. The result is health problems, discomfort, additional waste of the family budget for heat.

Of course, all these difficulties can be solved by insulating walls, floors and roofs. But choosing the methods of insulation, the average Ukrainian unwittingly faces another problem - the price of materials and work often turns out to be “unaffordable”.

How to be? Refuse insulation and hope for a subsidy or take out a loan and long years pay high fees to the bank.

Today there is a technology that offers a very simple and affordable solution - insulation of houses with foam crumbs.

What is the essence of such insulation?

During the warming process, granular foam is blown into the internal cavities of the walls of the house.

______________________________________________________________________________________
reference
Foam crumbs are polymerized rounded crushed balls with a diameter of 2-4 mm, which are produced from detailed waste expanded polystyrene. The original properties are preserved during the crushing process. "Crushed" is used as a moisture resistant, heat and sound insulating building material. Insulation from foam crumbs turns out to be of high quality and reliable. Thermal insulation with foam chips is considered the most reliable cold-resistant method of thermal insulation of floors, walls or ceilings.
_______________________________________________________________________________________

How does the warming process take place?

Holes with a diameter of 55 mm are drilled in the walls, their number can vary from 20 to 30 pieces, depending on the area of the wall insulation. A very important point - the minimum layer for pneumatic laying of the foam ball should be at least 5 centimeters. After all the holes are made, the foam balls are blown into the cavity under a strong pressure of air and compacted. Filling the air cavities of the walls is carried out using a special blower. This technology allows you to completely fill any hollow structures. Under the influence of the air flow, balls with a diameter of less than 4 mm fill all irregularities and cracks in an even layer.
Insulation with foam crumbs takes place in one working day, and can be performed regardless of the season. Most often, work of this kind is carried out in spring, summer or autumn, however, if necessary, and during the winter cold season, there is no strict reference to the season.
The uniformity, softness and resilience of the foam balls allows them to adapt to any shape of the space to be filled. They are an excellent substitute for other traditional heaters (expanded clay, foam, mineral wool), since the latter do not completely fill the required space and eventually move away from the insulated surface, which can lead to cold bridges and, as a result, the appearance of a dew point.

The advantages of choosing this type of insulation:

1. Saving the family budget
The cost of "crushed" and work with it is significantly lower than the "usual" methods and materials for insulation.

2. Save time
Private house, with an area of 100 m2, can be insulated in one day!

3. Attractive properties of foam chips
- thermal insulation (full filling of the air cushion with small granules in the place to be insulated removes any cold bridges);
- sound insulation (granules have a rough surface, which poorly conducts sound vibrations);
- environmental friendliness (the material is non-toxic and safe for people);
- amortization capacity (when squeezed, the balls do not lose their structure and quickly take their previous shape);
- performance (operating temperature range from -190 ° C to + 87 ° C);
- moisture resistance (lack of absorbent properties, the material does not absorb moisture and
does not interfere with the exit excess moisture from the wall);
- fire resistance (granules are treated with a fire retardant substance);
- simplicity of work and transportation (has a low weight and fills the required space as much as possible);
- odorless and does not cause allergic reactions.

Thus, the technology of insulation with foam crumbs becomes the best solution when choosing insulating, high-quality and economical material among most of the traditional substitutes.

They firmly entered practically all areas of modern industry and National economy... Most of the artificially synthesized materials are widely used in the construction industry as insulation.

One of the most common polymers wide range use - better known as polystyrene. The material is used in the form of plates, sheets or complex structures... Small fractions of polystyrene - expanded polystyrene chips - are also in great demand.

Due to its low cost, availability and good consumer and technological qualities, the material has found many applications - from raw materials to creating various decor, to the base of lightweight concrete.

Production and main types

Foam crumb can be obtained in two ways:

  • primary. For this, the polystyrene balls are foamed using a special technology. As a result, a so-called "primary" is obtained - granules of a certain size. This technology is quite expensive and the resulting raw materials have practically not received widespread use in the construction industry;
  • waste recycling. This is a secondary production method based on pieces of foam packaging and other styrofoam residues. Raw materials are placed in special devices - crushers, which grind waste to a homogeneous fraction. The crumb diameter can be set in the machine settings. The resulting fraction is called "secondary" or "crushed". The low cost of production allowed this type of raw material to receive the most widespread use in many areas.

Main areas of application

Foam crumbs, the use of which is due to the size of the fraction and the method of production, is widespread in the construction industry.

The main application of "crushed" is the basis for the lungs and. In the manufacture of polystyrene concrete, a certain amount of granules is gradually added to the solution, and the whole mixture is placed in a concrete mixer. The resulting solution is poured into the floor, making a warm and light screed. With the help of a polymer concrete screed, not only the floor is significantly insulated, but also consumption is saved concrete mix, and taking into account the significant decrease total mass solution, the load on the foundation decreases.

The second way to use "crushed" is pneumatic insulation. Waste is turned into a liquid composition, which is pumped into the inter-wall space of houses under slight pressure. This method is considered the most effective when insulating old private houses.

It was these structures that were built with an additional air chamber between the inner wall and the outer one. In the days of the USSR, this was not a tribute to fashion, but a significant saving in building material, since a layer of 10-15 centimeters was equivalent to another row brickwork... Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to take advantage of the full potential of the invisible layer - construction technologies those times were not allowed to make the air chamber airtight and in winter time the house lost most of the heat precisely because of this design.

The process of warming itself is as follows:

  • first, experts are studying the possibility of insulating a house in this way;
  • then at regular intervals, holes are drilled in the outer wall using a perforator;
  • through a hose under low pressure, liquid polystyrene foam is fed into the cavity, which fills the space between the walls;
  • the holes are closed with special plugs.

Despite the advantages of this use of molten foam chips, the method has some disadvantages. The most significant of them is the lack of ventilation, which leads to the accumulation of moisture in the form of condensate, gradually destroying the load-bearing wooden structures at home.

The third popular way to use crushed polystyrene foam is to fill the space between walls with dry granules during construction. without mixing with cement mortar ... As a result, it turns out high-quality insulation with the possibility of unobstructed ventilation. Compared to standard cladding foam plates, this method is much cheaper.

Additional use of granules

Expanded polystyrene granulated is used not only in construction, but also in other industries. First of all, it is furniture manufacturing... There the crumb is used to fill frameless models armchairs, sofas or poufs.

The next industry is the direct production of other configurations, as well as packaging materials and permanent formwork at monolithic construction... Some manufacturers use only "primary", others add some of the "crushed".

One of the promising uses of granular foam is as an absorbent for outdoor septic tanks. Tests have shown almost complete absence of odor and more high efficiency in comparison with modern preparations based on bacteria.

As additional directions, granular raw materials are used for various decorative items. Synthetic snow based on foam plastic has become very popular and quite widespread. One of the hits of the last two or three years has become ball plasticine, the basis for which is fine-grained polystyrene foam and a binder gel.

Brief summary

Granular polystyrene foam, the use of which is not limited only to manufacturing polymer concrete, has become widespread in other areas due to its low cost and unique properties... Depending on the size of the fraction and the method of obtaining, the cost cubic meter granules can vary greatly. The most expensive is considered a fine-grained granule."Primary" expanded polystyrene, and most affordable option- large "crushed".

Lightweight, spherical polymer granules foamed with isopentane gas or produced from residual polystyrene foam are called foam crumbs. It is a durable and environmentally friendly material that has been found wide application in the construction and repair industry.

Properties and characteristics

Expanded polystyrene crumb has the following properties:

  • thermal insulation (complete filling with small granules of an air cushion in a heat-insulated place removes any cold bridges);
  • sound insulation (granules have a rough surface that poorly conducts sound vibrations);
  • environmental friendliness (the material is non-toxic and safe for people);
  • amortization capacity (when squeezed, the balls do not lose their structure and quickly take their previous shape);
  • performance (operating temperature range from -190 ° C to + 87 ° C);
  • moisture resistance (lack of absorbent properties);
  • fire resistance (granules are treated with a fire retardant substance);
  • ease of operation and transportation (it is lightweight and fills the required space as much as possible);
  • odorless and does not cause allergic reactions;
  • profitability (relatively low prices for a product and the possibility of reducing prices for other materials due to mixing solutions with foam crumbs).

However, there are a number of restrictions on working with raw materials. Avoid direct exposure to open source fire, you cannot add it to hot asphalt. Also, when dichloroethane, acetone, benzenes, ketones or their vapors, contained in some varnishes and paints, get on the material, it collapses and almost completely loses its properties. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions and safety precautions when working with granules.

Varieties and application

Foamed polystyrene foam granules have an even spherical surface white with a diameter of 1 - 8mm, which does not deform when compressed.

Granular polystyrene foam is produced by heating glassy balls of PS with a temperature above 80 ° C and exposing them to the vapor pressure of isopentane, which foams the polystyrene into a granule. Then they are dried and cooled. Such balls become very dense and elastic, which allows them to withstand heavy loads, as well as to use them in temperature range from -65 ° С to + 75 ° С.

Due to its many specific properties, this material is widely used in industry. Thermal insulation with foam chips is considered the most reliable cold-resistant method of thermal insulation of floors, walls or roofs. In addition, it is added to building mixtures and solutions for the purpose of lightening and insulation. Finds use of granular foam as a filler for upholstered furniture or children's toys, as bulk packaging material in the production of polystyrene concrete and as a filter component in water purification. Also, balls are used as bait when fishing, to facilitate structures in unmanned aerial vehicles and when lifting sunken ships.

Varieties of granules differ in physical and mechanical characteristics. Important indicators The durability of the styrofoam service are:

  • the sizes corresponding to the standards (the diameter of the granule should be from 1 to 8 mm, and limit deviations in linear dimensions should be less than 0.5 mm);
  • the density of the coverage of the space to be filled (from 8 to 30 kg / m 3);
  • correct geometric shape and color (spherical white balls);
  • compressive strength with a low probability of deformation (0.005 - 0.026 kg / cm 2);
  • low thermal conductivity of dry granules at a temperature of 25 ° C (0.053 - 0.036 W / mxK).

The product is packed in polyethylene bags with a volume of 0.25 - 1 m 3.

The price of foam crumbs ranges from 1270 to 1400 rubles / m 3.

Characteristics and application of "Crushed"

Foam crumbs "Crushed" are polymerized rounded crushed balls with a diameter of 2 - 7 mm, which are produced from recycled (detailed) PS waste. This manufacturing method helps to reduce the cost of this material with partial loss of its primary form in the foam. However, other original properties are retained during the crushing process.

Crushed polystyrene foam is used as a moisture resistant, heat and sound insulating building material. Insulation made from foam chips is of high quality and inexpensive.

In addition, crushed polystyrene foam is used:

  • in the insulation of basement slabs and walls;
  • in the production of polystyrene concrete;
  • in the form of a shock-absorbing bedding;
  • for device roofing with a flat slope;
  • for mixtures with concrete or cement with foam crumbs;
  • for thermal insulation of trench pipes;
  • for the manufacture of cement-sand screed;
  • as the best filling material for walls with an air gap.

The technical characteristics of crushed foam should approximately correspond to the parameters of granular PS. At the same time, the distinctive indicators of the quality of "Crushed" are the absence of large parts of non-crushed foam in the material and a low number of deformed elements.

The product is packed in polyethylene bags of 0.5 and 1m 3.

Prices for crushed polystyrene foam are several times lower than for granular and range from 150 to 250 rubles / m 3.

Application of foam crumbs

Application can be carried out in several ways: by filling, laying or blowing.

  • the backfill process is quite simple. Hollow spaces in inter-wall ceilings, cavities in walls, uneven surfaces, underground space, attics are filled with balls in an amount sufficient to level or fill the required space;
  • the laying technique is carried out using foam concrete made from a mixture of cement with crumb. To obtain the laying material, 60 kg of sand-cement mixture, 0.5 l of plasticizer, 60 l of granules and 8 l of water are poured into a compact concrete mixer. Then everything is mixed. However, the mortar must be made sufficiently viscous, since the balls can float to the surface during the laying of the screed;
  • a screed with foam crumbs is performed in two stages. First, the first half of the screed (rough) is poured, and after it has dried and hardened, the second half (final). The screed is periodically wetted to avoid cracking and low surface strength. So after final stage works, the floor structure with foam plastic becomes insulated, lightweight, moisture resistant, fireproof;
  • blowing is carried out using a specialized blower. This technology allows you to completely fill any hollow structures. Under the influence of a stream of air, balls with a diameter of less than 8 mm in an even layer fills all irregularities and cracks.

The uniformity, softness and resilience of the foam balls allows them to adapt to any shape of the space to be filled. They are an excellent substitute for other traditional insulation materials (expanded clay, polystyrene, mineral wool), since they do not completely fill the required space and eventually move away from the insulated surface, which can lead to the appearance of a dew point or cold bridges, and then to the destruction of the wooden elements of the building.

Thus, foam crumbs become the best solution when choosing an insulating, refractory, high-quality and economical material among the majority of traditional substitutes.
