Fastening of plastic ceiling panels. Ceiling made of plastic panels - do it yourself assembly

For finishing the ceiling, you can use different materials, but PVC panels are distinguished by the greatest practicality, availability and ease of installation.

Any craftsman can make a ceiling from PVC panels with his own hands, for this you need to purchase or rent the necessary tools, study the sequence of installation and the recommendations of specialists.

In order to do it yourself, you first need to correctly calculate their number and the required length, figure out how the installation is performed supporting structure and the panels themselves, after which you can start working.

Before starting the calculation of the quantity necessary materials, you need to decide what kind of PVC panels you will use, since they have different sizes. make sure that the panels are overhead, not. Since they are not subjected to serious loads on the ceiling, their strength will be less, respectively, and the cost is lower.

Standard sizes ceiling panels will be like this:

  • thickness within 3-5 mm;
  • width from 125 to 350 mm;
  • the length is usually from 2.7 m to 6 and even 10 m.

Bathroom ceiling

A parameter such as the width of the material is of great importance. If you veneer, there will be fewer seams, so the surface will look more solid. Narrow panels have their advantages: they are much easier to work with, but they still result in a large number of seams. Experts recommend using a medium width material for finishing the ceiling, so it should be 250 mm.

When you decide on the length and width of the panels, be sure to pay attention to the quality of their manufacture. When choosing a material, pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • it is necessary to observe the geometry of the products, and their surface must be flat and smooth;
  • if there is a drawing, then it must be applied clearly and evenly;
  • stiffening ribs should not show through to the front side;
  • compare several types of panels, the more stiffeners they have, the stronger the structure will be;
  • pay attention to such characteristics as the thickness of the stiffeners and outer walls;
  • try to connect two parts, docking should be easy, and the gap should be minimal, almost invisible;
  • check the material for bending, it should not crack and change its shape.

Calculation of the number of panels for the ceiling

To calculate the number of PVC panels, you first need to determine the area of the room in which the ceiling will be finished. To determine the area of the ceiling, multiply its length by its width. The area of one element must be indicated on the packaging of PVC panels. You just have to divide the resulting ceiling area by the area of one element, and you get the number of panels you need.

When determining the number of panels, it is usually obtained a fractional number, it is rounded up, add 15-20%, which will be spent on cuts, and you get the number of panels that you need to purchase. You need to focus on the length and width of the room, decide how the panels will be installed, along or across, and in accordance with this, choose the required length of the elements.

Ceiling with LED lights

In addition to the required number of PVC panels, the number of metal profiles used for lathing. To do this, make a diagram of the room on paper and draw parallel lines along the wall at a distance of 0.6 mm from each other. The calculation is carried out and the required length of the profiles is obtained.

The standard length of a galvanized profile is 3 m, therefore the resulting length is divided by 3 and the number of profiles is obtained. If the area of the room is more than 6 m 2, then transverse strips are also installed, the number of which is calculated separately, in accordance with their installation scheme.

Ceiling finish option

A more rigid profile is installed on the walls along the perimeter; to determine its amount, the perimeter of the ceiling must be calculated. The calculation of dowels for fixing profiles to the ceiling and self-tapping screws with which PVC panels are attached to the lathing are carried out. For every 50 cm of a profile or panel, one dowel or self-tapping screw is required.

To determine the length of the ceiling plinth, divide the resulting perimeter of the room by 3 (the length of the plinth), round up to a larger integer, and you will get required amount elements.

Instead of a galvanized profile and self-tapping screws when creating a batten in a room with normal humidity you can use wooden elements and staples.

Installation of a ceiling from PVC panels

Regardless of the material used to create the wireframe, the markup is done the same way. Typically, the distance between the profiles is 60 cm, marks are made on the ceiling across the direction of laying the panels on opposite sides, and markings are made using a chipping cord.

Ceiling installation

If the frame will be attached not to the surface of the ceiling, but on suspensions, then the line marked on the walls around the perimeter of the room is lowered to the required distance. In addition, marks are made on the broken lines for profiles every 50-70 cm for attaching the suspensions.

Supporting structure device

If the PVC ceiling will go down, then at first the suspensions are fixed at the marked points, they do this with the help of dowels. At the next stage, a metal profile is attached to the wall around the perimeter of the room. First, it is installed on the marked line, then holes are made in the wall at a distance of 30-40 cm, they are made through the profile and immediately fixed with dowels.

Now the ends of the profile cut along the length are inserted into the wall profile, and it is fixed with self-tapping screws to the suspensions; for the reliability of the structure, this must be done from both sides to each suspension. After that, the ends of each element are fixed with self-tapping screws.

Ceiling sheathing

After the installation of the frame, electrical wiring is carried out, for this the corrugated pipes are attached to the suspensions, and the cable is already laid in them.

If the area of the room is more than 6 square meters, then between the longitudinal bearing profiles, it is necessary to install transverse jumpers, which are needed to strengthen the rigidity of the structure.

Ceiling cladding with PVC panels

Regardless of what material was used to create the frame, the installation of PVC panels is carried out according to the same scheme. Note that wood is easier to work with, but metal is lighter and more durable.

Installation of PVC panels is carried out in the following order:

  • along the perimeter of the room, a starting bar is mounted on the installed profile;
  • if you plan to install a ceiling plinth, then a special rail is installed for it;
  • after that, the ceiling plinth is mounted;
  • the first panel is inserted into the gap on the plinth or starting strip, which has a U-shape;
  • the first element is aligned and fixed with self-tapping screws or brackets to each bearing profile;
  • the next panel with its spike should fit tightly into the groove of the previous one, the parts should be tightly connected so that the gap between them is minimal;
  • after that, the panel is fixed, and this is how all subsequent elements are mounted;
  • in those places where the lamps will be installed, holes are pre-made in the panels, and during installation, the cable is led out into them;
  • the last panel is inserted into the groove of the previous one. If its width is large, then you have to cut it to the desired parameters;
  • near the wall, the panel can be fixed with self-tapping screws through and through, since then they will be hidden under the skirting board;
  • it remains to install a ceiling plinth, which will close the gap between the wall and;
  • installation and connection of spotlights are carried out in ready-made places.

Expert advice when finishing the ceiling with PVC panels:

  • in order to prevent the growth of fungus and mold, the surface of the panels, as well as all wooden elements, must be treated with special agents before installation;
  • even if the ceiling is even, plastic panels cannot be glued to concrete, as there will be no ventilation;
  • buy only quality material, an attempt to save money by purchasing cheap materials leads to the fact that they quickly lose color and shape, can emit harmful substances;
  • before installing the panels, be sure to make the wiring and check its performance;
  • in rooms with high humidity, you cannot make a frame from wooden elements.

Summarizing

If you decide to finish the ceiling yourself, then the most the best option, having a beautiful appearance and low cost, will be the use of PVC panels. Mounting of this material easy, so you can do the job without outside help, it is enough to study the installation technology and follow all the recommendations of specialists.

Video on the topic

One of the most inexpensive ways to finish the base floor is the installation of PVC ceiling panels. This design option is distinguished by its ease of installation and low cost, not only in terms of money, but also in time.

What are PVC panels?

The characteristics of ceilings created using PVC panels determine the properties of the materials that are used in the process of their production. Slabs for ceiling mounting are made of plastic, usually polyvinyl chloride. in shape they very much resemble lining, on one of the edges along the length they have a spike, and on the opposite side there is a groove. Thanks to this design, the installation of the ceiling panels is quick and the result is a solid, continuous joining of the surface elements.

In appearance and characteristics, PVC panels for ceilings are:

  • white. Their cost is low. These products are made from unpainted polyvinyl chloride and are installed mainly in bathrooms;
  • colored - such PVC products are dyed in bulk. At a price they are more expensive than white tiles, but are available to all consumers;
  • textured. These boards have an individual surface texture that imitates wood or other natural materials.

If you plan to install panels on the ceiling in residential premises, experts recommend using colored or textured products, since a completely white surface, such as in the photo, looks uninteresting.

Ceiling decoration wall panels undesirable because they are much stiffer and heavier.

Advantages of PVC ceilings

Professionals know how to make ceiling panels to make them look impeccable. But since the work is not difficult, every owner can do it if they wish.

Fastening panels to the ceiling, according to the masters, has the following significant advantages:

Installation of a frame for PVC panels

Before installing the panels on the ceiling with your own hands, you need to prepare the tool and materials for work:

  • building level more than one meter long;
  • perforator - it can be replaced with an impact drill, if the material from which the ceiling and walls are made allows;
  • screwdriver for;
  • square;
  • jigsaw or saw with small teeth;
  • galvanized profile to create the basis of the structure (sometimes wooden beams are used);
  • fasteners - 6 mm dowels with a plastic sleeve and screws for assembling the frame;
  • metal suspensions.

When all of the above is prepared, you can start attaching the panels to the ceiling. First of all, a frame is built. To do this, mark the ceiling and walls in the room. This work must be done with high quality, since the strictly horizontal arrangement of the frame depends on how good the surface of the future structure will look.

For this:

  • the height of the room is measured in all corners and the smallest of the values is chosen. Along the wall, which has a lower height, down from ceiling covering lay 5 centimeters. At the same time, when planning the installation of built-in lamps, an indent is made in the size of 10 - 15 centimeters;
  • set the level on the marked mark and, according to it, draw a horizontal line along the perimeter of the room. According to it, the ceiling structure will be installed;
  • a starting profile (28 mm UD) is applied to the drawn line and holes are drilled through it using a 6 mm drill;
  • plastic dowels are inserted into the prepared grooves to fix the profile around the perimeter, keeping its horizontal position under control;
  • hangers are mounted on the ceiling, and the main LED profile is fixed to them with self-tapping screws. You need to know how to fix the panels to the ceiling correctly, first of all, for this, you should ensure the distance between the profiles to create the frame, it should be 60-70 centimeters. In large rooms, the longitudinal profiles must be connected with transverse elements using special fasteners - "crabs". V otherwise the ceiling structure will not have the required rigidity and will start to "walk".

Similarly, the installation of the frame is carried out using wooden beams. Sometimes wooden base preferable because it is easier to attach plastic panels to it.

Installation of plastic panels on the ceiling, see the video:

There is a way how to glue panels to the ceiling, for this they use an adhesive compound called "liquid nails". When joining the elements, it is necessary to leave small gaps that allow the coating to easily withstand temperature changes and not deform.

Pvc panels for the ceiling are practical and comfortable. Work on the installation of a ceiling made of PVC panels can be done independently quite simply, so there is no need to involve a team of builders. How to fix PVC panels to the ceiling and how to choose them correctly and what is the price of PVC panels - we will talk in this article.

Moreover, on ceilings it is not much different from the installation of other suspended structures. All work includes the same stages of marking the premises, calculating the required amount of material.

PVC panels for the ceiling - what is it

PVC panels are a finishing material made of polyvinyl chloride, a plastic that does not burn well and has chemical resistance. Now consider PVC construction panels.

Ceiling PVC panels consist of two thin plastic sheets interconnected by a plurality of stiffeners. Along the length of the PVC panels, there is a large mounting shelf on one side, and a small fixing shelf on the other. The first is used to fasten the PVC sheet to the ceiling frame, and the second is used to connect the installed sheets to each other.

So why have PVC ceiling panels become so popular? Below is a list of the benefits of this finishing material:

  • PVC panels are resistant to moisture. Is the plaster peeling from the dampness from the ceiling? This will not happen with plastic boards! Do you live in a multi-storey building, where there are frequent problems with plumbing, and you are afraid that the neighbors from above may flood you? For PVC panels, this is not a problem - after a local flood, they can be taken, dried and simply installed back.
  • Durability. By themselves quality panels PVC can serve for more than a dozen years. And replacing damaged or worn-out panels will not be difficult.
  • It is easy to care for the ceiling made of PVC panels - you just need to regularly wipe it from dust with a sponge dipped in soap solution... But it should be remembered that for cleaning such material, you cannot use products containing abrasive particles or strong alkalis and acids.
  • To fix the PVC panels, it is necessary to mount the frame. As a result, a hollow space remains between the suspended and the real ceiling. It can be used for both electrical wiring and sound or thermal insulation. This is especially important if there is an attic and a cold roof above your room.
  • PVC panels are an easy way to level the ceiling without resorting to time-consuming and complicated plastering works... And this saves time, effort and money.
  • Plastic panels are versatile and well suited for the living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, loggia and other residential and non-residential premises. In addition, a large number of different colors and textures of the material will allow you to choose plastic panels that best match the rest of the room design.
  • Suspended ceilings from PVC panels are extremely convenient for creating modern systems lighting with many lamps placed around the perimeter of the room and in other places you need.

PVC panels for the ceiling - how to choose

When choosing PVC panels for the ceiling, you need to pay attention to their appearance. It can be used to determine the way decorative coating used at the stage of finishing elements. The rough surface is represented by a matte texture and white material color. The most budget options on construction markets presented exactly in this performance. To make PVC panels glossy on ceilings, a layer of protective varnish is applied to them.

Others acquire in the process of pasting with thermal film. The heat dissolves the image on the sheets and transfers it to the plastic. The drawing is obtained on special equipment.

The variety of types of PVC panels can present the buyer with a difficult choice. However, if you know the main criteria that are quality indicators, it will not be difficult to understand the range:

  • The surface of the panels should be smooth, even, without cracks and chips, well painted, not bent.
  • Fastening joints - without gaps, easily fit into each other, providing a single monolithic structure as a result.
  • Thick outer walls, stiffening ribs are indicators of the strength of the material.

Size is also important when installing panels on ceilings. Products are represented by plates, the length of which ranges from 2300 to 6000 mm, and the width from 100 to 920 mm. Volumetric plates have a thickness of 5 to 10 mm.

The standard size of the product is 2700 mm - length, 250 mm - width, 10 mm - thickness.

As for the thickness, then in standard sizes it is indicated in full. However, the construction of PVC panels is complex and consists of three layers: outer, rigid polyvinyl chloride, inner stiffeners. The edges of the panels are decorated with complex configurations, which ensure reliable adhesion on the ceilings of the PVC panels to each other.

When going to a hardware store, you should pay attention to the following points. For small rooms, the most suitable will be PVC panels of the "lining" type. They should also be preferred if you want to have a ceiling made of plastic, stylized as wooden boards. And for larger premises, it is better to take panels or sheets of polyvinyl chloride. As for the thickness, it is predominantly the same for all types of PVC sheets and is 10 millimeters.

  • Stiffening ribs of PVC panels should not show through from front side... Also count their number - the more ribs, the stronger and more durable the panel structure.
  • The surface of the material must be perfectly flat, without any defects, chips or damage.
  • The mounting and mounting shelves must be flexible enough so that they do not break when you try to bend them.
  • Try to press lightly on the PVC panel. If a crack or dent appears on the surface, then this is a low-quality specimen, which it is advisable to refuse to purchase.
  • Take a few panels and try to stack them together. Good material fits smoothly and without gaps.
  • Pay attention to the appearance of purchased PVC panels - copies from all packages should be monochromatic and have the same texture. In some situations, PVC sheets from different batches have slight color differences.

In addition to the PVC sheets themselves, you will need to purchase an installation profile. It consists of two "shelves", one of which is attached to the frame, and the other is connected to the plastic panels. Both the starting and finishing PVC sheets are attached to the installation profile. When choosing it, you should pay attention to the thickness of the plastic and whether the profile does not have any bends or defects.

Do not forget to also buy a ceiling plinth - it not only serves as a decorative element of the future ceiling, but also closes the gap between the wall and the ceiling made of PVC panels. Usually such skirting boards are called fillets, made of plastic and attached with glue. As for the appearance of the purchased PVC panels, you must determine it yourself, based on the design project of finishing the room and your own taste. Your attention will be presented with many options for panels of various colors and textures. Here you can advise the use of a color matching chart so that the appearance of the ceiling matches well with the color of the walls and furniture.

Do-it-yourself installation of PVC panels on the ceiling: we make markings and prepare the material

Before proceeding with the assembly of the structure for the ceiling, it is important to understand its functionality and purpose. Namely, why is the installation of the ceiling made of PVC panels carried out - to make original decor premises or hide possible communications?

Important! How large quantity different communications are laid under the ceiling, the greater the distance required from the rough surface to the plastic parts.

It is better to apply markings using a hydro level. If the room where it will be installed is small, the hydro level may not be used. Its alternative would be a regular rail or a building level. A flat horizontal line is drawn along the established marks along the perimeter of the room.

As materials you will need:

  • Panels of the required size and quantity.
  • Plastic strap for fastening.
  • Ceiling skirting boards.
  • Beams made of wood for lathing or profile and metal.
  • Dowels, screws, screws, staples, construction stapler.

For plastic panels, one of two options for mounting the frame is used:

  1. From wood beams.
  2. Made of metal guides.

Wooden battens are more suitable for rooms with low humidity, where there is a possibility of good ventilation of the room. Metal profiles are used in wet rooms - bathroom or kitchen.

Before installing them, the ceiling must be treated with a primer and with a bacterial effect. If the beams are wooden, they also need to be covered with special compounds.

If you intend to install surface-mounted luminaires, there is no need to lower the frame. It can be mounted directly on the sub-surface of the ceiling. Recessed lighting fixtures require a 10-12 cm lathing reduction from the rough ceiling space.

We mount the frame initially along the perimeter of the room, setting a plane for the entire ceiling. Then we install the longitudinal and transverse bars. In those places where lamps or chandeliers will later be placed, we put two beams and bring in the wires, insulate their ends.

Bars are attached across the ceiling surface with a step of 30-40 cm from each other. To make it easier to work, you can pre-apply the markings. Then, by installing the bars, you can immediately align them. The process will take place faster if you pull the threads along the room between the bars that create a general outline. Then it will be easier to position and fix the parts.

You can proceed to laying the panels.

Simplicity is the main advantage of installing PVC panel ceilings

In addition to the fact that plastic panels ultimately allow you to get beautiful ceiling, their installation does not require application special equipment and tools. The plastic can be easily drilled or cut to the required size and shape.

The panels can be positioned in three directions:

  • Along the premises.
  • Across the room.
  • Diagonally.

According to experts, the installation of ceiling panels along the length is the easiest and most reliable way of installation. With this arrangement, the joints between the tiles are practically invisible.

Diagonal styling is difficult to work with. Therefore, it is better to entrust it to professionals. In addition, with this method, the waste of material will increase significantly.

First, we mount the starting profile, it will set the beginning of the rest of the structure. In appearance, the profile resembles a plinth, differing from the finishing element only in a deep groove in length. The first panel will be inserted into this gap. Next, the tile is attached to the frame with screws or small nails. Today, builders are more likely to use a stapler with metal staples. Such a product greatly simplifies the work.

An important point! The panels are connected to each other according to the tenon-groove principle. Since the starting profile has a groove, the plastic tiles must be turned towards it with a spike.

When installing the panels, it is necessary to observe the maximum accuracy. Even if everything seems perfect at first glance, the result can be displacement. overall design and gaps will appear.

How to install the latest PVC panel on the ceiling

When installing PVC panels on the ceiling on the final stage difficulties may arise when it is necessary to include the last tile in the design. If it does not correspond in size to the remaining space in the frame, it must be cut off with a clerical knife to the required size.

Then mount it in the ceiling so that the cut side is in contact with the wall surface. Possible defects will be hidden by the finishing of the ceiling with plinths.

Important! All PVC parts, both panels and skirting boards, are very fragile. Therefore, careless handling can damage the elements.

Frameless fixing of PVC panels to the ceiling

This is the simplest method and does not require preliminary construction. ceiling structures... However, this method is permissible only in cases where the ceiling surface is perfectly flat and smooth, and it is also not necessary to build in fixtures and hide communications.

In this case, the panels are attached to the ceiling with polymer adhesives or. It is necessary to work quickly, since the mixtures set instantly.

Among other things, an important point is the preliminary marking by the type of installation. tile, then the plastic will lie nicely and evenly.

PVC panels on the ceiling sagged - what to do

PVC panels can sag. This is influenced by several factors:

  • The frame is made unevenly, so at the exit the plastic ceiling turned out to be skewed.
  • The battens on which the panels are attached are located at a distance of more than 60 cm from each other.
  • Tiles made of plastic of poor quality, different geometries, uneven.

In the first and second cases, you will have to dismantle the entire structure and assemble the ceiling on a new one.

If you purchased a low-quality material, the gaps that appear over time can be repaired with acrylic glue.

Thus, the most difficult stage in the installation of panels is. It takes a lot of time, but directly affects the quality of the ceiling, which is the most important indicator work.

Ceiling in the bathroom in 15 minutes do it yourself video

One of the simplest suspended ceilings is the ceiling made of plastic panels. This type of ceiling is quite popular due to its functional and aesthetic qualities. Most often it is used in the bathroom or kitchen.

This type of ceiling has many advantages.

  • Firstly, it is easy to install; everyone can make a ceiling out of plastic panels with their own hands.
  • Secondly, this type of ceiling does not require additional finishing such as a plasterboard ceiling.
  • Thirdly, since the ceiling made of plastic panels is a suspended structure, lamps and other communications can be installed in it.
  • Fourth, the plastic ceiling is easy to clean and suitable for use in rooms with high humidity, such as a bathroom.

Let's now see how to make a ceiling from plastic panels with our own hands. Structurally, this type of ceiling is a frame made of a plasterboard profile and plastic panels fixed to it. Therefore, the work of installing a ceiling made of plastic panels can be divided into two stages: the installation of the frame and the installation of plastic panels.

Required materials and tools

To assemble the frame, you will need a guide and ceiling profile, direct suspensions, dowel-nails, metal screws. From a tool: a drill or perforator, metal scissors, a laser or building level, a screwdriver.

Installation of a frame for plastic panels

They start by marking the position of the ceiling made of plastic panels on the walls. At this stage, you should decide on the size of the gap between the base of the ceiling and the surface of the future ceiling.

This gap depends on the unevenness of the ceiling, as well as on what communications will be laid under the plastic ceiling, and what lamps will be installed in it. In order to make it easier to decide, we can say that to install an average spotlight, you need 7-10 cm of under-ceiling space. 3-5 cm is enough for wiring and installing a ceiling made of plastic panels.

After the size of the gap is determined using the level, the position of the future ceiling is marked. It is more convenient to use a laser level for these purposes.

Fig. 1. Installation of guide profiles

The next stage is the installation of suspensions. Suspensions are necessary for fixing the ceiling profile to the ceiling, thereby increasing its rigidity and strength.

The suspensions are placed at a distance of 60-70 cm relative to each other. The markings for suspensions are performed as follows. The installation locations of the ceiling profiles are determined.

They are located perpendicular to the plastic panels. For a ceiling made of plastic panels, given that they are much lighter than drywall, the profiles are arranged in increments of 60 cm to 1 m. Based on this, the locations of the profiles are marked and the suspensions are attached to the ceiling.

Fig. 2. Installation of straight hangers

At this stage, it can be difficult if you have a concrete floor slab at the base of the ceiling.

Floor slabs are hollow and in case of penetration into the cavity, the dowel-nail will not hold. This problem can be solved using traditional dowels and self-tapping screws. Therefore, you should stock up on them in advance.

After installing the hangers, you can start installing the ceiling profiles. They are cut to the required length and inserted into the groove of the guide profile. Then, using self-tapping screws for metal, they are attached to the suspensions.

Fig. 3. Installation of ceiling profiles

Fastening ceiling profiles should be done with care and try not to bend them.

Otherwise, it may affect the evenness of the ceiling. It should also be noted that for the rational use of profiles, mainly in order to use scraps, you can use a special connector for the profile. Thus, to reduce costs by reducing the number of purchased profiles.

Fig. 4. Profile extender

After the frame for the ceiling made of plastic panels is assembled, you can proceed with the installation of the plastic panels.

But first you need to install a ceiling plinth. For plastic ceilings, a special skirting board is sold. It has poses for plastic panels.

Plinth installation

The skirting board is attached to the frame along three walls of the room using self-tapping screws for metal. It should be noted that the wall along which the skirting board is not installed should be parallel to the direction of position of the plastic panels, i.e. the plastic panels will be mounted parallel to this wall.

Installation of plastic panels. Peculiarities

Now you can start installing the plastic panels.

Installation starts from the opposite wall to the one on which the skirting board is not installed. Installation is carried out as follows. The plastic panels are cut to the required length and inserted into the groove of the plinth, and on the other side of the plastic panel, it is attached to the frame with metal screws.

Fig. 5. Installation of plastic panels

The second and subsequent panel is fixed in the same way, with the only exception that it is inserted not into the groove of the skirting board, but into the groove of the previous panel. After the installation of the plastic panels is completed, it is necessary to install the remaining skirting board. A groove is cut off this skirting board, this can be done with a knife and is attached to the ceiling and walls with liquid nails.

The installation of plastic panels has two features that should be mentioned. First, the fixing of the panels must be done very carefully.

It often happens that the screwdriver falls off during installation, so it is very easy to damage the soft plastic panel. To avoid this, it is necessary to ensure that the position of the screwdriver is perpendicular to the ceiling. Moreover, there is one more feature.

It is necessary to choose the right bit for the self-tapping screw. The self-tapping screw mounted on the bit must sit firmly on it, otherwise either the self-tapping screw is defective, or the bit is not selected correctly. A non-rigid fit of the self-tapping screw on the bit adds to the chances of ruining the plastic panel.

Fig. 6. Installation errors

Secondly, when installing plastic panels, you should not press hard on the panel from the side, this can lead to its curvature and, as a result, a gap between the panels. Considering that the curvature is not large, this defect usually manifests itself on the last panels, i.e. small curvatures add up.

Fig. 7. Gap between plastic panels
Fig. 8.

That's all there is to say about the plastic panel ceiling and the plastic panel installation.

The construction market is now replete with a wide variety of finishing materials.

The main advantages of modern innovations are ease of use and reliability. However, this does not always apply to practicality in terms of price. In this matter, finishing materials made of PVC are undoubtedly leading in terms of profitability.

PVC panels make it easy and simple to sheathe walls with a ceiling in any room. At the same time, you should not worry about costly leveling the base of the wall or worry about the exorbitant cost of installation work. Do the same suspended ceiling do it yourself using PVC panels is not difficult, even without many years of experience in repair work.

What is required?

So, now we will consider exactly the option of installing a false ceiling using PVC panels as a finishing material. This will require necessary minimum tools, PVC panels and required mounting elements. More precisely, the following tools are required:

  1. screwdriver or slow-speed drill;
  2. tape measure, bubble level, water level;
  3. hammer;
  4. miter box, hacksaw, construction knife.

PVC panels are used as material.

According to generally accepted standards, panels can be 25 and 50 cm wide. The main parameter when buying is the area of all elements in the package. When calculating the required amount, you should calculate the area of the room in which the suspended ceiling will be installed, and increase the amount obtained by 10-15%, taking into account the trimming of the material.

To fix the panels to the ceiling, use special fasteners and form a frame. By themselves, PVC panels are quite fragile and soft, so a strong frame with frequent lathing is required for reliable fastening.

A U-shaped plastic profile is used along the perimeter of the room, into which the edges of the panels will be inserted. Alternatively, you can choose the matching PVC ceiling skirting board, which is already equipped with a U-shaped groove. In a high-quality design, such a skirting board is a prefabricated structure, in which the U-shaped groove is assembled in two parts to facilitate installation.

For lathing, you can use wooden bar size 20X40 mm or a metal profile as for drywall. In the bathroom or in the kitchen, wooden beams will not work due to high humidity... However, thanks to more easy installation timber and attaching the panels themselves to it, it can be used in the bedroom or living room.

The second parameter for selection is the price of the material; in this matter, you just need to check the availability and price in your region. When using wood in any form in construction, it must be treated with antiseptic impregnations and fire retardants before installation. The latter is necessary to improve the fire-resistant properties of wood.

PVC panels of various standards

In addition, there are plastic or aluminum profiles specially for PVC panels. If the cladding is carried out on the ceiling with small differences of up to 4-5 mm and with a minimum drop of the suspended ceiling, the installation of PVC panels on the ceiling may be quite simple. The profiles are made with a special groove in the center for attaching to the base and for attaching clips that will hold the trim panels.

Of the hardware, you will definitely need plastic dowels and nails-screws for them (an anchor with a wedge for hammering can be an alternative). They will attach the frame elements and profiles along the perimeter to the walls and ceiling.

The frame itself is assembled using screws with a tip with a drill for a metal profile and wood screws for a bar. PVC panels can be fastened with screws with a press washer or with special metal clips. The approximate number of all hardware can be calculated after the method of fixing the ceiling has been chosen, and after reading the installation instructions.

Preparation phase

Even taking into account that the ceiling will be hidden from view, it should be cleaned of all elements that may subsequently fall off or sprinkle on the mounted suspended ceiling: damaged plaster or putty between the slabs, whitewash, old finishing material, etc. The entire surface of the ceiling is primed.

Only after that you can start marking for the installation of the perimeter and frame. To do this, a line should be drawn throughout the room on the walls, which will indicate a single level of the future ceiling.

The ceiling should be lowered taking into account what kind of lighting fixtures will be used, the presence hidden wiring or other communications, as well as irregularities in the ceiling itself. For the wiring, it is necessary to take into account the mandatory presence of a gap between the upper edge of the frame and the ceiling of at least 1.5-2 cm. As a reference point from which the drop will be measured, the lowest place on the ceiling should be chosen.

Once the first mark is placed, you can transfer it to all four walls along the edges using a water or laser level.

To outline a line around the entire perimeter, you can use twine, abundantly painted over with bright crayons. By pressing against the wall along the marks of the edge of the twine, you can slightly pull it back and release it. This will leave the chalk on the wall.

When the perimeter is outlined, you can start marking the location of the supporting elements of the frame. The profile or beams should be placed perpendicular to the future direction of the PVC panels and at a distance of 40 to 60 cm. At a greater distance, the suspended ceilings from the panels may sag slightly during operation.

Advice: As much as one would like it, but still there are cases when both the floor and the ceiling of the premises in multi-storey buildings of mass development are not brought out according to the level, and it is extremely costly to fix this. In this case, it is better to move somewhat away from the binding to the strict level and draw the perimeter line with some slope so that the difference in the planes of the ceiling and floor is not visually striking.

Frame installation

Option 1: plastic crate

A plastic U-shaped profile or a plinth with it is attached around the perimeter of the entire room so that its lower border runs along the line drawn earlier. To join the profiles in the corners, use a miter box and a hacksaw.

This is the only way to get a beautiful cut and minimal clearance. The profile should be fastened every 25-30 cm. Further, to facilitate the installation of the frame, you can pull a thread or fishing line across the ceiling so that it forms a plane together with the upper edge of the profile.

Option 2: wooden frame

Wooden beams are attached to the ceiling with dowels and impact screws, every 60 cm. In order to bring them to one level along the bottom edge, you can use wooden pads between them and the ceiling.

Option 3: metal profile

The metal profile, as in the case of drywall, is attached using U-shaped elements placed every 60-80 cm. The so-called "pawns" are most conveniently attached to the ceiling with anchors with a driven wedge, and to the profiles using screws with a drill bit.

Install jumpers between load-bearing frame not necessary, however they will be needed in places where it is supposed to fix something heavy, for example, a chandelier.

At the end of the installation of the frame, power cables for lighting are laid. When using PVC panels, the wires must be laid in a corrugation to ensure fire safety. In places where spotlights will be installed, it is enough to leave loops 10-15 cm long.

Installation of PVC panels

Now that the frame is ready and brought into a single level, you can start installing suspended ceilings.

This is the least troublesome and at the same time responsible process. The first strip of material is brought into the U-shaped profile. Some craftsmen cut off a latch along the edge of the first strip.

As soon as the strip is in place, it is fixed with screws or clips to the frame support profiles, without missing a single one. You can cut a strip of the required size using a hacksaw or simple knife... The material is easy to cut.

Important: PVC panels should be cut to a length slightly less than the distance between the walls. There must be a gap between the strip and the walls, about 4-5 mm from each end.

The next strip is applied to the lock at a slight angle and inserted into it along the entire length. After that, the second side is pressed against the frame and also fixed with screws. In order to tightly bring the strips together, you can use a bar or a piece of the same PVC panel, which is inserted into the groove and carefully hammered in until it stops.

The main thing is, in no case to bend the strips of material and not to apply too much effort during installation. PVC panels are fragile enough and even inaccurate hand pressure can leave a dent that cannot be removed in any way. Installation is best done with a partner or using the simplest supports with crossbars.

The main difficulty can arise when installing the last strip.

In one embodiment, you can turn the strip over with a lock in the other direction and cut it along the length from the side of the groove to the desired width. Then, having attached it tightly to the previous panel, the last ceiling element is also fastened with screws. When using collapsible skirting boards, it is easier and safer to simply cut the strip to the width and click the lock with the previous strip, as in all other cases.

If it is planned to install spotlights in the ceiling, it is naturally more expedient to think it over in advance and embed spots “on the ground”. Read more about installing lighting in a plastic or any other ceiling - read the link.

Completion

After all the strips are installed, you can proceed with the finishing. When using a U-shaped profile, a skirting board is installed separately along the perimeter.

It is best attached to liquid nails. Moreover, it is better to apply them only on one side of the skirting board. That is, the plinth is attached either only to the wall, or only to the ceiling.

In the case of a collapsible skirting board, the counterpart simply snaps into place. In the corners, you can use special adapter couplings or seal the cracks with a sealant of a suitable color.

In the pre-marked places, holes should be made for the output of the lighting wires or for the installation of spotlights. The same work can be done during the installation of the ceiling.

At the very end of the work, the lamps and all the equipment necessary for them are installed directly. It is advisable to adhere to generally accepted norms and in the case when a suspended ceiling is mounted in a bathroom, then install low voltage lighting fixtures with a converter instead of the usual scheme using 220 V. At the same time, the ceiling made of PVC panels is not afraid of moisture to a certain extent, it can be guaranteed to be safe itself from the consequences of moderate flooding by neighbors from above.

One of the most practical options finishing the room - to assemble a suspended ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands.

And this is no coincidence. After all, panels based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) have a number of useful properties... Thanks to this, the ceiling made of plastic panels competes perfectly with plasterboard, armstrong and even with the popular stretch ceilings.

Advantages of a ceiling made of plastic panels

To answer this question, it is necessary to reveal all the positive properties of pvc panels. The main advantages of plastic panels over competitors are as follows:

Firstly, it is a moisture resistant finishing material.

It has proven itself excellently in rooms with high humidity, whether it be a bathroom or a toilet. Moreover, the ceiling made of plastic panels is not just not afraid of high humidity, but quite calmly tolerates any flooding. Therefore, if your neighbors on the floor above have a habit of forgetting about the open tap in the bathroom, such a ceiling will be an excellent solution to reduce losses from such comrades.

Secondly, it is a very affordable material in order to refine the ceiling. Therefore, in addition to being used in a bathroom or in a toilet room, it is successfully used to equip loggias, balconies, and corridors. It is also popular in suburban buildings, for example, in country houses.

Another plus of this material is that it is very convenient and easy to use.

In order to assemble a ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands, an expensive tool is not required. In addition to this, it should be said that it is very easy to care for plastic ceilings. They can be simply wiped with a damp cloth, do not need regular painting and have sufficient strength for the ceiling.

However, before you use this material, you need to know about its shortcomings.

Firstly, at first, it emits a specific smell.

After all, it is, after all, a product of chemical production. It is advisable to take this point into account. It is not advisable to install such panels in fire-hazardous premises, since they emit toxic substances during combustion.

Of the shortcomings in the design plan, the following point should be noted. Due to the fact that the panels dock one with the other, even with high-quality work, microscopic seams between the panels are visually noticeable. Especially if you choose white panels for the ceiling decoration.

Nevertheless, if you use pvc panels in suitable rooms, you can get a practical and beautiful ceiling.

How much material will it take to assemble a ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands?

In order to design a do-it-yourself suspended ceiling from plastic panels, you will need the following materials.

- PVC - panels;

- moldings for them or accessories;

- material for the frame (wooden bars, metal or plastic profiles);

- fasteners for the frame and panels;

- wiring, in case of installation of lighting devices.

Calculation of the number of pvc panels

To do this, you need to accurately measure the dimensions. existing ceiling... Next, you need to decide how the pvc panels will be located - along the larger side of the room or across it. If you plan to install panels along, then the number is determined as follows.

Quantity (pcs) = Room Width (cm) / Usable Panel Width (cm)

The formula is correct, provided that the length of the room is no more than the length of the panel.

With the transverse arrangement of pvc panels, their number is calculated as follows:

Quantity (pcs) = Room length (cm) / Usable panel width (cm)

Moreover, if the width of the ceiling is equal to or less than half the length of the panel, then the amount must be halved, since trimmings can also be used.

The store has panels with a useful width of 25cm and a length of 270cm. In this case, it is more profitable to arrange the panels across the loggia and cut two out of one for the ceiling. Then

(350/25) / 2 = 7. Seven panels are required.

And in general, with regard to the location of the panels relative to the ceiling, it is often done out of the desire to minimize the amount of scraps.

And about the sizes of panels that are most common on sale, we can say the following. The most popular pvc panels are 270 cm and 300 cm long. Depending on the width, there are such - 25cm; 33cm; 37.5cm; 48.5cm.

PVC panels differ in color by a great variety. Moreover, there are matte or glossy. For their fastening to the frame crate, self-tapping screws with a press washer 9-13 mm long, small nails and metal staples for a stapler are suitable.

Calculation of the material for the frame

Since the ceiling is suspended, you will need material for making the frame. The frame can be assembled from wooden blocks, usually 25 x 40 in size.

But only if we do not plan to make such a ceiling in a room with high humidity. In this case, it is impractical to use wood for the manufacture of the frame and profiles should be used. Moreover, the cost of wooden bars is comparable to the cost of metal profiles, which means it is safer and more practical to use them for the frame.

DIY ceiling frame made of plastic panels

To build a metal frame, it is convenient to use a ceiling profile.

You will also need guides corresponding to the size. And to attach the frame to the ceiling, suspensions are required. It is convenient to fix hangers to the ceiling and guides to the walls using dowel-nails measuring 6 by 40 or 6 by 60.

The so-called "bugs" are useful for assembling the frame. This is such a small specific self-tapping screw, in which the cap resembles a trapezoid in cross section.

Do-it-yourself ceiling made of plastic panels. Installation methods

The most difficult and important part in arranging a ceiling made of plastic panels with your own hands is correct installation frame. If in the future the installation of built-in lamps is required, then the structure of the plastic ceiling frame should be 7 cm lower than the existing one. This is exactly the distance that will allow the lighting fixtures to be installed.

Having assembled the frame, you need to take care of the lighting and lay the wires for the lighting fixtures. After that, you can finally start attaching pvc panels to the crate.

Methods for mounting plastic panels

The first option is how to assemble a ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands - using moldings or accessories. To do this, a finishing element or, in other words, a "start" is attached along the frame perimeter.

Usually L = wall length - 1 cm. This gap will make it easier for us to install the first panel. It is convenient to trim using a paint knife along the metal corner.

Sometimes you come across solid panels and you will have to cut them with a jigsaw or, in its absence, with a hacksaw with fine teeth.

The other side is called the wide flange. It must be fixed to the frame with self-tapping screws.

How to fix a ceiling made of plastic panels with your own hands

Then we insert the next panel with a narrow fastening part into the groove of the first one until it stops, so that there is no gap between them, and we fasten it to the frame. The subsequent ones are established in the same way. The last panel should be reduced and cut longitudinally by 5-8 mm from the side of the wide mounting part relative to the final molding.

Then install it into the groove of the last “start” and push it into the groove of the penultimate panel. There is no need for its subsequent fasteners. In places where it is planned to install plafonds or chandeliers, an additional crate is mounted in advance.

The second way to assemble a ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands is without the use of moldings. This option is very similar to the first one. The only difference is that the first and last panels are additionally fastened from the extreme sides with fasteners.

And the gaps between the panels and the wall are then closed by gluing ceiling skirting boards from expanded polystyrene.

In such an easy way, you can assemble a ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands. Dear readers, I hope this material on the site will help you, without wasting time and effort, install a ceiling made of plastic panels with your own hands and appreciate its practicality.

Plastic panel ceilings are one of the quick top finishing options for any space. It will look equally good in the bathroom, toilet, balcony, loggia, and living rooms. Even next renovation planned in the long term, then get acquainted with how to do quality ceiling from plastic panels on your own, it will be useful.

Harmful or not

There are conflicting opinions about whether a ceiling made of a PVC panel is harmful when used in places where people predominate. Moving away from the subjectivity of assessments, we can state:

  1. Today, plastic is used everywhere in everyday life - from corking goods to kitchen utensils. In the production of panels, raw materials are used that are used for the medical and food group of goods, which undergo compulsory certification.
  2. The structure of the product has no pores. There are no conditions for bacteria and microorganisms to cultivate. That is why the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service recommends the panels for use in the buildings of the Ministry of Health and other institutions with a massive visit to the population.
  3. Plastic is easily kept clean simple household products... At the same time, user properties and aesthetic qualities are not lost.
  4. The flash point of PVC used for the production of panels is represented by 360 ° C. At the same time, often used for chipboard repair, Fiberboard, OSB, enter the combustion process at 250 ° C. Smoke emission in the latter is 40-50% higher.
  5. The plastic ceiling "does not breathe", that is, it does not allow air to pass through, does not deform, and condensate is not drained away. It is a fact. But all apartments and modern private houses are equipped with ventilation. The same applies to old houses, where the owner is allocated space for bathrooms and toilets, if they were not provided for in the substring of the building. The issue of air exchange and humidity control is not solved at the expense of the ceiling of the room.

Thus, the assertion that the use of plastic panels destroys the indoor microclimate and is potentially dangerous for the stay of people has no basis.

Types of plastic ceiling panels

PVC ceiling panels are classified according to several criteria:

  1. The density of the material.
  2. Item size.
  3. Connection type.
  4. Color and texture design.

The joint type determines whether the finish surface will have a visible seam or if it will be seamless. The finishing method gives the product color and texture, and the surface can be:

  • monochromatic, does not fade when exposed to ultraviolet light;
  • varnished, with the application of a special coating, which gives a special shine, but scratches can spoil the appearance;
  • pattern, printed with many patterns, but the plastic is soft. And the service life is limited;
  • laminated, completely repeating natural materials and their derivatives, prone to delamination with prolonged direct exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

All options are resistant to the effects of water or steam, do not change their structure at moderate temperature drops.

In the manufacture of PVC panels for the ceiling, manufacturers are guided by standardized dimensions, where the width can be represented by 100, 200, 250 mm, the length - 2700, 3000, 4000 and 6000 mm, with a thickness of 10 mm.

The presented photos show the design options for the kitchen, bathroom, toilet, bedroom, hallway and corridor.

Advice! The service life, in addition to the recommended conditions of use, depends on the density of the cells. Almost all panels are in the affordable price range, but less dense (soft) panels are cheaper. Savings on purchases can lead to new expenses in the not too distant future.

Preparatory activities

Like other finishing work during the renovation, it will not be possible to fix the panels on the ceiling without preliminary preparation. It is necessary to carry out a number of activities:

  1. Calculate the number of panels, accessories, fasteners. In the plan, take into account the placement of fixtures, the routing of the wiring.
  2. Check the readiness of the tool and accessories.
  3. Free the room from furniture that interferes with the pretreatment of the ceiling and direct installation.
  4. Remove the remnants of the old finish from the ceiling surface.
  5. Check wiring. In its deplorable state, as well as if a change in the position of lighting devices is planned, they are dismantled, after having disconnected the input wires from electrical network.
  6. Inspect the ceiling for defects. Special attention draw on the joints of the floor slabs, the joints of the walls from the side of the street. Cracks are putty.
  7. Prime the ceiling plane with antibacterial mixtures.

Attention! If the installation is planned to be carried out on suspensions (suspended ceiling), then the implementation of the volume of these measures is sufficient. But in the case of attaching the guides directly to the ceiling, the plane is additionally leveled with a plaster-based putty.

Calculation principles

A simple mathematical calculation makes it possible to purchase the required number of panels and other Supplies... First of all, the installation area is determined by multiplying the length and width of the room. Then the result is divided by the area of one piece of PVC, and the required number of pieces is obtained. Add 10-15% to the result obtained, rounding the value to the nearest panel. This stock will come in handy in case of erroneous dissolution or installation flaws.

The following are calculated:

  • the purchase volume of the ceiling profile, as well as suspensions (fastening interval 500-600 mm);
  • the length of the starting profile, where it is equal to the length of the perimeter and 100 mm of the margin;
  • dowels, if the metal profile is fastened with a step of 500 mm;
  • self-tapping screws, at a consumption of pcs. / meter, respectively, 1 / 0.5.

Additionally, you should purchase a profile for connecting the end parts of the panels, internal and external corners for joining the structure.

Tools and accessories

To carry out the work, the following tools and accessories should be prepared:

  1. Drilling holes. It can be electric or hand drill, semi-professional or professional screwdriver with a set of drills, bits.
  2. Dissolving blanks. Joiner's knife, hacksaw with a blade for cutting metal.
  3. Measurements and markings. Roulette, building level, twine, marker or pencil.
  4. Metal profiles for mounting ceiling structures: UD - 25/25 mm and CD - 25/60 mm in the estimated amount.

Advice! Renovation is a planned event. Therefore, it is recommended to prepare the tool and purchase consumables in advance.

How to mount a plastic suspended ceiling

There are several options for fixing the panels. Simple is represented by a straight lathing of the ceiling surface with a bar with an interval of 500-600 mm, sequential locking assembly of panels. This option is applicable if, as a result of preliminary preparation, the surface is leveled close to ideal, as well as with low ceilings. But it should be borne in mind that a wooden beam "takes" moisture, deforms. Consequently, the plane of the finishing surface will undergo a change.

Another way is a do-it-yourself suspended ceiling made of plastic panels using a metal profile. In this case, the structure will not lose its consumer properties at any humidity and temperature drops. It is about him that will be discussed below.

Assembling the frame

Work begins with marking. For this, use previously prepared measuring and marker accessories. The order is as follows:

  1. The height of all corners and the value in the center of the room (floor - ceiling) are recorded.
  2. The lowest angle compared to the baseline will be the starting angle. It is from him that the gap of the formed interceiling space is measured (ceiling - panel). For the convenience of attaching the cord, the point is fixed by screwing in a self-tapping screw.
  3. Using a level and a cord, they "beat off" the plane to the entire perimeter of the room, where the outlined line will be the junction of the plastic structure.
  4. Placements of metal profiles are added on the opposite walls. The planned intervals are not more than 500 mm.
  5. The places where the suspensions are installed are marked last. It is important to apply the markings with maximum accuracy, since it is difficult to eliminate flaws during installation.

It is necessary to check whether there are hidden electrical wiring in the attachment points of the suspensions. To do this, use a special detector or seek the help of a professional electrician. Further activities include:

  • along the wall markings, the guide profile is fastened along the entire perimeter, with the exception of the side where the end of the installation is planned, to facilitate the adjustment of the extreme slab;
  • at previously designated places, holes are drilled for dowels, and suspensions are attached;
  • next, cut the profile to the desired length, insert it into the guides, fix it on the suspensions with self-tapping screws;
  • carry out constant control of the horizon of the plane using a stretched cord.

Attention! This stage of work completes the tracing of the wiring, and if planned - communications. It is recommended to place the wires in special corrugated sleeves. Their use allows timely identification of the wiring during drilling, simplifies the complete replacement of a part of the wire and additionally protects against moisture penetration.

Installation of plastic panels on the ceiling

Ceiling panels are installed perpendicular to the guides in the following order:

  1. Measure the distance between the guide profiles. The measurements are transferred by the markup to the panel. Cut off the excess. To do this, use a sharp knife or hacksaw with small tooth and a thin linen.
  2. On the trimmed edges, jagged fine-grained sandpaper... The panel is freed from its individual packaging, if it has not been previously removed.
  3. One end is inserted into the starting profile, palatal bending, the second end is placed in an opposite wall mount.
  4. With a little effort, move the plastic element to the installed perpendicular mount. Thus, it turns out to be fixed in three planes.
  5. On the side with the locking device, the lower part is fixed to the crate with a self-tapping screw.
  6. The operation is repeated with the next panel, with the difference that it is necessary to ensure that it fits exactly into the grooves along the entire length of the part.
  7. On the panels where the installation of lighting devices is planned, technical holes of the recommended diameter are drilled. In order to avoid unintentional bending of the plane, work is carried out with special care, avoiding excessive physical effort.
  8. Elements are installed along the entire length of the room in a similar way, while the installation of the extreme panel has some features.

Installation of a plastic wagon on the ceiling is presented in the following video:

Installing the last panel and skirting board

The last panel for the ceiling is placed in the rest of the space completely in very rare cases, as a rule, trimming is required. The procedure is presented as follows:

  • take accurate measurements on both sides of the panel; during installation, a small error could occur;
  • measurements are transferred to the workpiece, the points are connected with a piece of profile and cut off;
  • together with the finishing wall profile, they are placed on the trouser seat;
  • the latter is fixed with an adhesive mixture "liquid nails".

Ceiling plinth is a mandatory attribute of a plastic ceiling. The molding gives a finished look to the room, provides a smooth transition of the wall and ceiling surfaces. You will need a miter box to properly fit the baguette at the corners. If not, then one of the simple markup techniques will be sufficient. You can use a sheet of a notebook in a box. It depicts two lines intersecting in the center. Then the bisectors of the corners are drawn and the 450 necessary for even trimming is obtained.

Advice! Before fixing adhesive solution carry out preliminary fitting. If necessary, the abutting ends are adjusted additionally.

Sealing cracks with acrylic

End up assembly work on the installation of plastic panels for the ceiling by gluing the baseboards and filling the gaps with acrylics. After installing the last panel, as a rule, it becomes necessary to seal the joint. At the same time, to make the ceiling plane look monolithic, the joints are filled with acrylic compounds. The order of work is presented as follows:

  1. It is possible to carry out culling by preliminary inspection of the entire plane, but it is more practical to visually break the plane into squares, and sequentially seal all the cracks as you move through the sections.
  2. Elimination of blemishes is recommended construction gun with a tube filled with acrylic.
  3. Simultaneous filling of gaps is carried out in small areas (350-450 mm). The excess is removed immediately, the seam is leveled.
  4. The speed of solidification of acrylic is quite high, therefore, if the area where the composition was placed is missed, and it has time to dry, it is carefully removed with a spatula or knife, followed by rubbing the place with warm water.

Attention! Drying of this type of grouting material is accompanied by slight shrinkage, and it may be necessary to re-grout the blemishes after the first layer has completely dried, that is, 7-11 hours.

Lamps in the ceiling made of plastic

Changing the finishing of the ceiling makes it possible to check the condition of the electrical wiring, change the location of lighting fixtures, and install modern models. If the ceiling in the bathroom is made of plastic panels, then lighting zoning can be carried out without damaging the wall tile covering, and the wires can be hidden hidden above the panels.

When self-routing and connecting peripheral electrical devices, you must adhere to safety rules, namely:

  1. Dismantling and subsequent work is carried out after disconnecting the room from the general electrical network. A household "probe-indicator" in the form of a screwdriver will help to make sure that there is no voltage.
  2. It is recommended to pre-prepare an electrical wiring diagram location of lighting devices, switches.
  3. Wires for new wiring are purchased with a cross section corresponding to the maximum load when all devices are turned on. Consultation on this issue can be obtained from trade organizations.
  4. In the places where lamps and switches are connected, a wire is left with a margin - the "loop" will come in handy if you have to carry out repair work or change equipment if it malfunctions.
  5. After routing the wires, it is useful, without connecting to the network, to check the correct execution of the circuit using a household voltmeter.

Attention! If House master does not have experience in self-installation of wiring and connecting devices, in order to avoid accidents from electric shock during subsequent operation, a professional electrician should be invited.

Features of the selection and installation of lamps for 220 V

When choosing lighting fixtures, consider the following:

  1. The ignition temperature of plastic is high and it is almost impossible to reach it by contact with a light bulb. But exceeding the heating rate will lead to melting of the seat, a change in color, structure and the appearance of odor. In this regard, light bulbs with a power not exceeding 40 W are used.
  2. The security parameters of the lighting device itself. Their importance increases when used in rooms with increased level humidity. Therefore, it is recommended to use lamps with a protection level of at least IP44.
  3. Based on safety requirements, lighting devices should not be located closer than half a meter to the location of the bath or shower stall.
  4. The distribution board of lighting devices in rooms with high humidity is located outside the room.
  5. Places for the installation of luminaires are prepared in the process of direct installation of the panels. The diameter of the seat for the lighting system, depending on the brand and manufacturer, ranges from 58-74 mm. There are two ways to make a hole.

The first is represented by the use of a suitable sized wood crown.

The second - takes a little more time, but does not require the use of a special tool. The installation site is marked with an ordinary compass. A small incision is made with a sharp knife, and the outline is cut out with a household jigsaw. With all the increase in the time for the procedure, the likelihood of damage to the panel as a result of inaccurate use of an electric drilling tool is significantly reduced.

Halogen and LED

It distinguishes halogen and LED lighting devices from standard ones, a twelve-volt supply voltage, and to create it, a step-down transformer is connected to the electrical supply network. The place of its installation should exclude the possibility of condensate penetration, and even more so water. Safety requirements provide for the installation of a separate automatic fuse with a rating of at least 8 A.

When determining the number of spotlight sources in any premises where it is planned to mount a plastic ceiling with a height of more than 2.6 meters, take into account the following:

  • the lighting cone, when switched on, does not exceed an angle of 300;
  • for good light density, lamps are installed at intervals of no more than one meter;
  • the distance from the wall plane to the first llama is 0.6 m and more;
  • to connect groups of lamps use special pads, "twists" even soldered are not recommended;
  • to ensure accurate polarity at the power terminals of the device, the wire should be monotonously traced, for example, black - plus, white - minus, wire with a notch - "ground";
  • when attaching lamps to the frame, special devices (latches, clamps) must be used.

The installation procedure for the spotlight is as follows:

  1. Disconnect the base from the light element.
  2. The block is connected to the wire terminals.
  3. The light element is placed in its original place and the function is checked.
  4. If the result is positive, the spotlight is fastened to the base with clamps.
  5. Installation is completed by installation decorative overlays and a thermal insulator. It should be noted that the designs of the luminaires are different, and therefore it is recommended to study the instructions for the device before starting the installation.

How to install lighting elements presents the following videos:

Conclusion

The presented material indicates that the plastic ceiling, with household use no more dangerous to humans than chipboard panels, while it has a number of advantages. One of them is represented by the possibility of self-assembly, without the need to purchase special tools and accessories. A wide range of panel colors allows you to shape the ceiling for many interior styles.
